Introduction By far the largest part of the money raised for mining is raised by honest and legitimate means; but a not inconsiderable amount is raised by fraudulent sales methods. It will be conceded without argument that the greatest menace to the mining business is the fraudulent promoter. The sale of worthless mining stocks to the public by high-pressure. salesmen, house to house canvassers, telephone campaigns, fraudulent use of the mails, fraudulent statements, and reloading, has seriously prejudiced the public against even legitimate mining. A very small percentage of the funds raised by such fraudulent means is ever spent on the property, but instead is absorbed by the promoter in illegitimate' profits, enormous commissions, high office rents, and other expenditures, and is just so much subtracted from the fund which the legitimate developer needs to bring new mines to the point of production. The mining fraternity has been at fault in that, while they recognized this situation, they made no adequate attempt to rectify it. They knew that these fraudulent practises were conducted by parasites who attached themselves to the mining business in boom times and claimed to be part and parcel of it, but who were merely professional salesmen and promoters who, when there was not a mining boom, were selling sky-line real-estate, worthless oil stocks, or fraudulent securities which happened to be popular with the public. While mining people had this distinction well in mind, the public did not differentiate between the crooked promoter temporarily selling fraudulent mining stock and the honest promoter who made mining finance his life work; and we did little to make this distinction clear to the public or to sweep these money grabbers out of our house. The historic boom of 1927-8 and '29 brought with it the usual crop of crooked mining promoters, and the scandals resulting from their operations forced the Governments into the enactment of laws to attempt to protect the gullible public against the operations of these meanest of thieves and to appease public clamour.

He has, however, become concerned that there is a greater issue that requires our urgent attention: what challenges do we face as a global society? His Distinguished Lecturer presentation traces the idea of environmentally sustainable economic development but concludes that a business’ interest in its sustainability is predicated on the sustainability of our global society. Conard reviews some of the most serious challenges, including population growth, clean energy supplies, freshwater availability and climate change, and calls on scientists and engineers not only to apply their skills in helping solve these challenges, but most urgently, to speak with intelligence and passion about the need to act now.

"Gold-bearing mineralization at Anomaly A occurs in polydeformed Ordovician turbidites of the Kendall Mountain Formation of the St. Croix belt in southwestern New Brunswick, and is hosted by WSWtrending, shallow-dipping, brittle-ductile high-strain zones associated with the latest stage of the second of four regional deformation events. Gold-bearing syn-deformational stockwork, massive, and multiply brecciated quartz-sulfide veined zones form irregular pods and sheets up to several meters thick, which contain arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, pyrite, stibnite, and a variety of rare minerals that are gold-bearing. Mineralized zones are enveloped by locally auriferous, weakly to intensely altered wall rock. Vein paragenesis includes: (1) early (pre- to syn-D2) quartz-chlorite veins that are largely the product of migration of quartz by pressure solution; (2) crosscutting, multiphase, vuggy quartz-sulfide veins that contain most of the gold and are interpreted to be structurally controlled; (3) late, crosscutting, nondeformed, non-gold-bearing veins containing laumontite, chlorite, muscovite, quartz, fluorite, and base metal sulfides. Carbonate-poor alteration associated with zones of gold mineralization is lithology-specific, and appears to reflect overprinting of multiple events. Major elements removed during alteration include Si, Na, Mn, and Mg. The minor and trace elements removed include Co, Li, Sc, and possibly Sr, Ni, and Zn. Minor and trace elements added include Au, Ag, As, Sb, S, and possibly F, Cu, Pb, and Zr. On the basis of proximity, time constraints, and a similar ore mineral assemblage, gold mineralization at Anomaly A is interpreted to be a distal equivalent of the intrusion-related gold mineralization at the nearby Clarence Stream Main zone deposit. La minéralisation aurifère de l’Anomalie A se trouve dans des turbidites Ordoviciennes polydéformées de la Formation de Kendall Mountain, dans la ceinture de Ste-Croix du sud-ouest du Nouveau Brunswick, où elle est contenue dans des zones de déformation fragile-ductile à faible pendage de direction OSO associées au dernier stade du second de quatre épisodes de déformation régionale. "A study has been done of the scale-up of laboratory bench-scale flotation to continuous plant circuit performance. It was found that the impellor speed and the air flow rate influenced the results and in this case extreme values of these operating variables were required in order to reproduce the plant rougher results in the laboratory. Despite the experimental uncertainty introduced by these extreme values, it was demonstrated that the plant performance could be predicted and experimentally reproduced with bench-scale tests.IntroductionThe mineral processing industry relies heavily on batch flotation testwork to design flowsheets, evaluate reagent s and compare various types of ore. The batch tests are generally regarded as being directly comparable within themselves, but quite often they relate poorly or not at all to continuous circuits. Obviously this dilemma generates considerable uncertainty with wide-ranging ramifications. One of the manifestations of this unfortunate situation is the commonly expressed opinion that ""it may work that way in the laboratory, but it will never work that way in the plant"".In a previous publication, a method was described whereby the results of batch bench-scale tests could be used to simulate a locked cycle flotation test series. The work to be described here is a continuation of that investigation with an extension to the simulation of an actual plant circuit. It would have been preferable to progress from laboratory batch data to a continuous pilot plant and then finally to a full-scale plant operation. However, because that possibility did not present itself, an attempt will be made to show that the performance of an existing plant circuit can be successfully simulated from batch data. The success of the procedure can be judged by the agreement among the plant results, a locked cycle test and the predicted results based on batch tests."

This paper aims to increase our understanding about existing capacity-building approaches and their implications for obtaining a social license to operate in the mining industry. The notion of ?capacity building? is gaining increasing currency in the mining sector in developing countries due to a rapid rise in the globalisation of mining operations. Capacity-building is conceived here as a process that lasts after the mine-cycle, intended to provide local mining communities with tangible skills and knowledge to gain meaningful employment in mining or other industries relevant for the local economy. Building community capacity to understand and effectively respond to these transformations is vital for obtaining a social license to operate, as it promotes sustainable and locally relevant development. Accountability mechanisms such as global norms and international standards increasingly highlight the need to build capacity among stakeholders, particularly among local communities adjacent to mining operations. International frameworks and mining companies have embraced the notion of capacity-building as a driver to assist corporate social and operational performance. However, this narrow understanding of capacity-building through the prism of corporate social responsibility and ?best practice? is preventing the industry from meaningfully impacting communities and maintaining a social license to operate. This latter notion is being widely embedded across multiple industry sectors, as a social and economic reward from mining companies to compensate communities for natural resource extraction and gain social acceptance. Although both concepts are widely recognised in the minerals industry, insufficient attention has been paid to the implications of applying a top-down (mining-orientated) or a bottom-up (community-orientated) capacity-building approach for obtaining a social license to operate, or indeed how these two concepts are linked and applied in practice. At times, communities lack the necessary capacities in the form of education and skills to deal with mining-led livelihood transformations. This is preventing both mining companies and communities from forging sustainable livelihoods and responding to mining-led livelihood transformations, a situation that is creating discontent among communities and reducing the possibility of obtaining and renewing a social license to operate for the industry. Based on a review of current scholarly debates, accountability mechanisms in the mining industry and fieldwork findings in Colombia, this paper will contribute to an understanding of the implications of existing capacity-building approaches that support a social license to operate.

Pressure hydrometallurgical unit operations have been in commercial use at the Fort Saskatchewan refinery of Sherritt International Corporation for fifty years. This paper traces the history of Sherritt from its origins in northern Manitoba, and the development of the first hydrometallurgical nickel-cobalt refinery in 1954, utilizing pressure hydrometallurgy, to the modern day refinery. Sherritt's involvement with pressure hydrometallurgy during the past 50 years has included the operation of the refinery, the development and licensing of technology, incorporating pressure hydrometallurgical unit operations, to more than 30 companies worldwide, the joint venture at Moa, Cuba involving both leaching and precipitation at elevated temperature and pressure, and the production of specialty metal powders. Developments in each of these areas are reviewed.

Ruthenium (Ru) is known as a platinum group element with a very small production volume. In fact, the worldwide annual production of primary Ru metal is only about 20-30 tons, and it depends on the amount of Pt produced, since Ru is a byproduct from Pt smelting. The primary uses of Ru are as a material for resistors, as a catalyst for electrode materials, and as a sputtering target for hard disk memory storage. In order to recover Ru from the spent sand-blasting abrasive media generated during the cleaning of the apparatus used for Ru sputtering, a hydrometallurgical recovery process using hypochlorite solution has been investigated. In this study, various types of recycling processes that are presently under development are also introduced, and their features and differences are discussed. The advantages and disadvantages of the new recycling processes are evaluated, and the possibility of establishing new recycling processes in the future is discussed from a multilateral perspective.

"Tungsten skarn deposits on the Clea property in the Selwyn Mountains, Y. T., are related genetically to a quartz monzonite stock, about 500 metres in diameter at the surface. Lower Paleozoic sedimentary rocks are metamorphosed for a distance of 3 km from the stock. Tungsten-bearing skarn mineralization within the altered sedimentary rocks is of two types: sulphide-rich pods and calc-silicate beds. The most significant scheelite concentration is in calc-silicate beds near or adjacent to the quartz monzonite stock. Discordant K-Ar and Rb-Sr isotopic dates indicate that the stock is probably of early Late Cretaceous age, 94 Ma or slightly older, and that it cooled slowly. High initial 87Srl86Sr ratios and disequilibrium relationships between K-jeldspar phenocrysts and groundmass minerals in the porphyritic phase of the granitic rock , and between different granitic rock specimens, indicate contamination of crystallizing magma by old sialic continental crust which extends westward under the Selwyn Basin.This study is significant to regional tungsten exploration. Granitic rocks associated with tungsten deposits, in this part of the Canadian Cordillera at least, appear to have specific isotope characteristics that indicate they were generated at a specific time and in a particular way.IntroductionThe Clea tungsten skarn property (Fig. I) is owned by Canex Placer Limited, and lies in the Selwyn Mountains (Bostock, 1948) near the eastern margin of the Selwyn Basin (Wheeler and Gabrielse, 1972), Yukon Territory. The property covers a 20-square-mile area centered near latitude 62°47 ' north and longitude 129°52' west, and is accessible by helicopter. An airstrip and the terminus of a summer-use gravel road at MacMillan Pass, Yukon, are about 20 miles to the northnorthwest.This paper deals mainly with the geochronemetry of granitic rocks from a stock associated with tungsten mineralization on the Clea property. We show that these rocks have specific characteristics that not only define the genesis of this stock, but also have significance for regional tungsten exploration around plutons in the Canadian Cordillera."

Underground 802.11 wireless communications has become widely adopted for automation and communication purposes but maximizing the wireless signal presents many obstacles given the harsh environment as well as the presence of materials and conditions that can reduce signal propagation. Changes in elevations and curvatures in ramp to drift transitions also affect the wireless signal. Based on the requirements of wireless applications such as voice, data, or location tracking, the wireless site survey is the key tool for measuring and predicting signal strength and signal-to-noise ratio. These readings help determine the maximum distance between access points in order to sustain an overlapping wireless signal where required. This paper describes the methodology and tools used for measuring 802.11 wireless signal strength in an underground mine environment in Northern Ontario. The physical characteristics of the mine and the actual recorded wireless signal data will be presented in order for the audience to gain an understanding of the factors that affect signal throughput. Antenna selection used for the site survey will also be discussed as it played a key role in propagating the wireless signal.

"In 2002, Titanium Corporation Inc. focused its attention on the development of a process for the recovery of valuable heavy minerals, including zircon and titanium bearing minerals from oil sands froth treatment tailings. The development of a process flowsheet to recover the titanium and zircon minerals from the Athabasca oil sand tailings has evolved through many laboratory, bench and pilot scale iterations.Initial development work focused on so-called ‘beach sand’ material, which is tailings material deposited over a period of time close to the tailings pipe discharge. The derived process flowsheet primarily consisted of gravity concentration stages, which is typical of all mineral sands operations. Titanium Corporation’s business plan calls for the utilization of tailings directly from the tailings pipeline – the process developed around the beach material is therefore risky as it differs from the live tailings in a number of aspects, with the effects on the process unknown. Titanium Corporation successfully obtained an intermediate product through a ‘bulk sampling plant’ coupled directly to an Oil Sands operator’s froth treatment tailings pipeline, during the summer of 2005. Subsequent further processing of this material resulted in poor separation or concentration of the heavy minerals due to a number of reasons. A more effective process flowsheet had to be developed.The newly derived process is basically a marriage between mineral sands technology and oil sands technology that can economically concentrate and recover the heavy minerals and entails the incorporation of a flotation process that takes advantage of the entrained bitumen in the feed to separate the heavy mineral fraction from the quartz gangue This paper will describe the newly derived process as well as the successful results of a subsequent on-site concentrator pilot campaign completed during the 3rd Quarter of 2006."

This work investigates the effect of waste plastics addition on the reduction of iron oxide by sawdust. Composite pellets of iron oxide containing sawdust (SD), high density polyethylene (HDPE) and blends of SD/HDPE were fired under argon in a horizontal tube furnace at temperatures between 1300 and 1500 °C. Reduced samples were weighed after 10 minutes of reduction and the extent of reduction was calculated from the measured oxygen contents of the compact. The results showed improved extent of reduction when SD was blended with HDPE. The highest extent of reduction was achieved at SD:HDPE ratio of 2:3.

In the last decade, the copper industry in China has developed rapidly and attracted the world’s attention. The production capacity of refined copper has grown remarkably from 4.578 million tons in 2010 up to 9.029 million tons in 2018, accounting for about 40% of the global refined copper production. And now, China has become the biggest refined copper producer in the world. This paper summarizes the application of modern copper metallurgical technologies such as Outotec flash smelting/converting technology, Cyclone smelting technology, TSL (ISA/Ausmelt) smelting/converting technology, Jinfeng side blown smelting and Baiyin side blown smelting technology, Chifeng side blown smelting and continuous top blown converting technology, SKS bottom blowing technology, Dongying two-step smelting technology, copper electrorefining with high current density, etc. in China’s copper industry, analyzes and compares the characteristics of those technologies and presents the great efforts of China’s copper smelters in adapting to the increasingly strict emission standards and improving economic benefits of copper smelters. INTRODUCTION China has been the biggest refined copper producer in the world for many years. China produced million tons of refined copper in 2018, accounting for 40% of the copper smelting production in the world, and of which, roughly, 70% of the copper concentrate was imported, mainly from Chile, Peru and Australia. ICSG (International Copper Study Group, 2017) shows clearly the position of top 20 countries of copper production and copper mine production (Figures 1 and 2). Blast Furnaces, Reverb Furnaces and Electric Furnaces dominated China Copper Smelting for quite long time till 1980s. The first modern copper smelting technology (flash copper smelting) was introduced into China in 1980s, then followed by Noranda, Ausmelt and ISA. Since then, China copper smelting technology stepped into modern time. Since 2000, old processes (Blast Furnace, Reverb Furnaces and Electric Furnaces) were phased out and replaced by modern smelting technologies. China Copper Production has been increasing dramatically (Figure 3).

"The Three Bluffs gold deposit is located in the Committee Bay greenstone belt, which forms part of the Rae domain of the western Churchill province, Nunavut, Canada. Gold mineralization is hosted by iron formation of the Neoarchean volcanosedimentary Prince Albert Group, and is associated with silicification (quartz veining) and sulfidation of magnetite and other Fe-rich minerals. Conventional U-Pb zircon dating of a conformable dacite unit within the volcanosedimentary host-rock sequence and a crosscutting diorite intrusion confirm a ~2.7 Ga age for deposition of the supracrustal package. U-Pb monazite dates and Pb isotopic analyses of sulfides were obtained by laser ablation-multicollector-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-MC-ICP-MS). A subset of U-Pb monazite (1813.8 ± 8.7 Ma) and Re-Os arsenopyrite (1822 ± 21 Ma) dates, combined with a Pb-Pb secondary errorchron age for pyrite and arsenopyrite (1829 ± 77 Ma), suggest that gold mineralization associated with sulfidation of the iron formation occurred at ~1815 Ma, prior to high-grade (upper amphibolite facies) tectonometamorphism in the Three Bluffs area (D2TB/(M2TB). An ~1815 Ma age for deposit formation is broadly consistent with evidence from elsewhere in the western Churchill province and to the southwest in Manitoba and Saskatchewan for a late Trans-Hudson (1.9-1.8 Ga) gold mineralizing event. The majority of U-Pb monazite ages form a second population at 1780.6 ± 4.2 Ma, similar to the age of the majority of Re-Os arsenopyrite analyses (1763 ± 11 Ma). These dates are thought to reflect the timing of peak M2TB metamorphism. 40Ar/39Ar dating of amphibole, biotite, and muscovite yielded plateau ages ranging from 1723.8 ± 9.0 Ma to 1710 ± 17 Ma, which are interpreted to record the timing of postpeak metamorphic cooling to below the respective closure temperatures for Ar diffusion in these minerals. Le gîte aurifère de Three Bluffs est situé dans la ceinture de roches vertes de Committee Bay, laquelle appartient au domaine de Rae dans l’ouest de la province de Churchill, au Nunavut, Canada. "Abstract - The early Paleozoic accretionary tectonic regime that was established along the Laurentian margin of the Newfoundland Appalachians provided a favorable setting for shear-hosted gold mineralization along a major terrane suture, the Baie Verte-Brompton Line. The Stog’er Tight prospect is one of several mesothermal-style gold occurrences hosted by shear zones within accreted ophiolites and oceanic arc terranes on the Baie Verte Peninsula. It is an epigenetic, stratabound deposit that is confined to shallow-level gabbro sills within the volcanic cover sequence of the allochthonous Point Rousse ophiolite complex. Gold mineralization at Stog’er Tight is associated with hydrothermal mineral assemblages represented by chlorite-calcite, sericite-ankerite, red albitepyrite (±Au) and chlorite-magnetite alteration zones. Gold occurs with pyrite within the intensely altered gabbro, along the margins of syn- to late-shear, quartz-rich, replacement veins.The Stog’er Tight gabbro served as a rigid body conducive to shear deformation and fluid penetration, whereas, its high Fe-Ti oxide content induced fluid oxidation and gold-pyrite precipitation. Hydrothermal alteration involved progressive CO2, S, Na, and LILE metasomatism, along with significant enrichments in the REE, HFSE, and Th in the high-grade ore zone. Temperatures of vein formation and alteration are constrained by oxygen isotope thermometry to be between 250°C and 480°C. Isotopic compositions of vein quartz from the Stog’er Tight prospect are uniform (??O = +12.5 ± 1‰) and fall within the range cited for many shear-hosted, auriferous quartz veins.A U-Pb zircon igneous age of 483 +3/-2 Ma for the Stog’er Tight gabbro is consistent with its stratigraphic correlation with other Ordovician ophiolitic and volcanic arc/back-arc assemblages in Newfoundland. The U-Pb age of a rare variety of hydrothermal zircon recovered from the high-grade ore zone directly constrains the timing of gold mineralization to 420 ±5 Ma, in accord with a major orogenic episode of Silurian age that produced many of the magmatic and metamorphic rock suites in north-central Newfoundland. Our results are consistent with a post-peak metamorphic, late-magmatic model for gold mineralization that occurred during the waning stages of Silurian orogenesis, driven by emplacement of I-type granitoid intrusions into the crust."

Belt conveyors are widely used in materials handling industries. The bulk materials which can be transported include ores, coal, earth, grain, limestone, wood chips, fertilizer components such as potash and many others. Along with the new technology development and enhanced industrial automation requirements, belt conveyor instrumentation has also been modernized to improve conveyor availability and performance. Traditionally, belt conveyors are equipped with emergency pull cord switches to shut the conveyor down, misalignment switches to signal the belt offline condition, speed sensors to detect the belt slippage, and level switches to prevent material plugging in the discharge chute. Belt rip detectors are also normally provided for long belt conveyors. As a rule, equipment condition monitoring is not automated at most operating facilities, but is performed manually by maintenance staff via time-based surveillance. The new generation of condition monitoring instrumentation and control equipment can be successfully utilized to design a reliable, cost-effective, and centralized monitoring system, capable of monitoring a wide variety of mechanical equipment. The implementation of the condition monitoring automated system can provide continual monitoring of the plant equipment to ensure safe operation of the equipment to its required capacity. Any abnormal behavior of the motors, gear reducers and pulleys can be analyzed, alarmed, and recorded immediately, so problems can be detected and resolved before critical components failure. Therefore, the current trend is to provide the belt conveyors with condition monitoring system in addition to the traditional instrumentation, where temperature probes and vibration sensors can be installed on motors, gear reducers and all pulleys. Another innovative development is a three-in-one type belt rip detector which combines laser, tray and cord type detection together to ensure a prompt belt tear indication. The purpose of this paper is to present the latest development of belt conveyor instrumentation and introduce the application of newly developed instruments.

The Humphrey's spiral is a static gravity separation device which cannot be adjusted to match short-term variations that occur in the feed. Any disturbance in the feed grade, per cent solids or flow rate affects substantially the recovery and grade of concentrate. Such variations must be minimized in order to maintain the desired rate of production and quality of the product for which the installation has been designed. A study has been performed in which the foregoing assertions were quantified. The feed grade, per cent solids, flow rate and particle size were varied independently. Ore from Carol Lake, Nfld., was used throughout the experiments. This consisted of specular hematite and magnetite in a silica gangue.

"Since about 2002 there has been significant capital cost escalation, not inflation, in the mining industry causing turmoil for successful project completion. Project capital costs have more than doubled and some cases tripled in this time period. This has rendered many projects to be economically challenged and in some cases not viable. In addition higher than expected operating costs have further adversely affected project metrics such as NPV and IRR. Capital cost increases for projects have been widely reported globally. This current paper reviews three items. Firstly, why such capital increases and the various components that make up capital estimates. Secondly, it looks at reasons why preliminary estimates, for example at scoping and pre-feasibility level, have been lower than the ultimate constructed costs. Such increases and differences in estimates have caused major problems for mine builders and have led to a general nervousness on the part of those providing project finance. Thirdly, what discipline is needed in project execution in an attempt to mitigate such capital increases. The paper will hopefully give a better understanding of the various issues and factors involved for those in the mining industry.INTRODUCTION The years 2012 and 2013 were a turbulent time for the mining industry. The European economic crisis, politics, metal price volatility and a wave of changes of CEO´s in some of the major mining companies all contributed to a challenging couple of years. Two issues stood out. First, the huge increases reported in the capital costs of projects, where increases of 100% - 300% were not uncommon and in some cases exceeded that during the first decade of the 21st century. Second, company write downs related to takeovers during the boom and the stabilization/correction in commodity prices. These have led to great uncertainty, made it difficult (or impossible) to raise project financing costs, contributed to the changes at CEO level and placed many projects either on hold or cancelled altogether. It is commonplace now to read of companies talking of reduced capital expenditure and making a complete review of their projects and operations to contain costs."

Seismic areas were in the eastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet plain, whose structures were complicated, mainly composed of Maowen fault, Yingxiu fault and Pengxian-guanxian fault. The rapid rise of the Qinghai-Tibet plain led the crustal material of the eastern edge to move to the southeast along the faults on a large scale since the late Cenozoic; Minshan block structure and Long Men Mountain tectonic zone represented the strong nappe thrust movement as the east boundary of Chuanqing slip block; the stress was accumulating when squeezed, which to a certain extent resulted in breakdown of the crust, and earthquakes. The shock speed, high-energy accumulation, and the reversed dextrorotation of the earthquake fault characteristics et al. happened, which caused the development of secondary geological disastersts. According to on-site investigation, the typical geological disasters had thrust rock collapse, the instability deposit, the revival of potential debris flow et al. whose genetic model had been analysed.

"The Highland Uranium Project (HUP) is located approximately sixty miles northeast of Casper, Wyoming and is owned and operated by Power Resources, Inc. (PRI). With an annual production of680 tonnes (1.5 million lbs) U308, HUP is one of the largest uranium producers by in-situ leach (ISL) in the western world. Uranium is currently produced from four wellfields with a total flow rate of approximately 1,135 m3/hr (5,000 gpm). The carbonate leach solutions are processed by anion ion exchange at two satellite facilities located in close proximity to the wellfields. The loaded resin is transported by truck to a central processing facility for elution of the uranium. Uranium in the pregnant eluant is precipitated and washed prior to calcining.Wastewater from the satellite facilities is treated and used for irrigation at a Land Application Facility. The wastewater generated at the central processing facility is injected into a 2,750 m (9,000 ft) deep waste disposal well.When economical mining of the orebodies is complete, restoration of the groundwater is initiated. There are currently two wellfields at HUP undergoing ground water restoration. Phase I restoration consists of removal of the carbonate leach solution from the ore body. Phase II includes treating the withdrawn fluid with reverse osmosis and reinjection of the permeate into perimeter wells.Future plans include construction of additional satellite facilities at the Gas Hills Project and other economical deposits located within 240 km (150 mi) of HUP. The capacity of the central processing facility will be increased to 1,815 tonnes (4 million lbs) U308 per year by late 1999."
