At the present time, the mineral resources in the majority of underground mines are assessed and reported within a deterministic scenario. Irrespective of the techniques utilized for the estimation, the uncertainty in the reporting of resources is limited to their classification in categories such as Measured, Indicated and Inferred, according to a qualitative appreciation that depends on the abundance and quality of geologic information and sampling. Tonnages and grades reported within each category are treated as of fixed or variable precision depending on their classification; nevertheless, this degree of precision is not quantified, which makes it difficult for mine planning and can seriously affect the decisions that are taken on the resources of a deposit. The uncertainty in the resources comes from the lack of adequate geological information and grades, but this lack of information is very difficult to improve or supplement since the information-versus-cost curve increases exponentially

Proccesing plants currently have sophisticated regulation and control systems and there also systems of managment of the quality and laboratory variables, for the mine-plant transport managment, mineralogical extraction, characterization, maintenance managment were desgined to support specific operational business functions: to operate, maintain, control quality, manage the fleet, etc. The vision of systems dedicated to supporting specific business functions contradicts what is nowadays an integrated business operation, esenctially multidisciplinary and it which the managment and supervision process require access to heterogeneus information sources regarding their regarding their origin and managment system. The consecuence of ongoing pressure for operational excellence is the need of more "fine-lunning"of the processes must be adressed in a synchronized way. Hence, the need arises of restating the issue of operation and related information, for which a new conceptual and techonological focus is proposed aimed at the objetive of operational excellence.

The Antamina Concentrator plant was one of the first plants in the world, where about 60 Megawatt only in Milling Power was installed. As a consecuence of the use of Gearless Mill Drives the speed of the mills is adjustable, which allows the operators react to the different ore grades correspondingly, in order to get the best results in terms of milling efficiency. In this sense, this paper describe the basic idea of a Gearless Mill Drive, the construction of it, the manufacturing facilities, the transport, the installation and the function in detail. It gave enough insights to understand why Gearless Mill Drives are so reliable and used as an adjustable speed drive, why it counts with the highest efficiency of all drive systems.But it did describe as well the overload capabilities, the reaction to the network, the reason why the maintenance of the drive system is proven as a minor issue, and finally it was self- explaining why the Gearless Mill Drive is called a working horse.

Newmont Akyem mine in Ghana is committed with continuous improving results. A new environment where the price varies rapidly requires of better understanding of the deposits and the gold contained in the ore. This better understanding allows the mine planners to quick adjust and fast response to economic changes for gold price. Newmont Akyem Mine has approximately 9.4 million tons of ore in the stockpiles. Mine planers are still using average grade in all stockpiles to do a mine plan. The re-handled material is blended with the prime material coming from the mine.

Remote control systems for industrial applications have advanced since the early 20 years, increasing its capabilities by utilizing new electronic technology. This electronic “tool” has benefited many mining operations, making them a safer place to work and at the same time more productive. Almost any operation that presently uses a man at the controls of the machine or using a wired tether control, is a candidate for improvement by the addition of a remote control. Remote control systems add safety, reliability and productivity at a cost that is usually recovered in mere months after installation.

It is possible that Airborne Induced Polarization, one of the stillelusive systems, will make its debut in the next few years. Airborne techniques are followed by the systems used on the ground and in boreholes. New equipment and data processing and modeling software are referred to. The nature of the gold-bearing fluid and the source of gold in sedimentary-hosted gold deposits of Carlin, orogenic or epithermal types is still matter of debate. Most authors point to magmatic/ metamorphic origin for the fluids, however, the properties of such fluids and their interactions with organic carbon – a common component in this type of deposits – are not sufficiently well known. Here we present a large set of novel geochemical, mineralogical and fluid-inclusion data obtained from the Algamarca Au-Ag-Cu epithermal veins, corresponding to lateral manifestation of the neighbouring sedimentary-hosted epithermal-gold deposit at Shahuindo.

Cobalt is critical for the green energy transition, yet the mineralogical distribution and the mechanisms of concentration of Co in different types of hydrothermal ore deposits remain poorly constrained. Here we document ore mineral assemblages from the active Fåvne and Loki’s Castle seafloor massive sulfide deposits located along the Mohns Ridge in the Norwegian Sea, and determine their whole-rock and mineral chemical compositions with a special emphasis on Co.

"The paper point out the volcanogene and sediment-hosted base metal deposit from the Colombian cordilleras have been considered in the light of tectonogenic models for these deposit types, based upon the recent re-interpretation of the geology and tectonic assembly of the Northern Andean Block by Cediel and Cáceres and Cediel. Numerous distinct propitious metallogenic settings containing important but subexploredbase metal mineralisation are manifest as a result of the tectonic evolution of this northern-most sector of the Andes. Some examples include like a) Central African Cu (U) Belt - type mineralisation within the back-arc region of the early– middle Paleozoic Cordillerantype Quetame Orogeny, b) numerous SEDEX and Sediment-Hosted Zn (Pb-Ag) and Cu (Ag) styles of mineralisation associated with various phases of continental and continental margin rifting during the late Paleozoic to Mesozoic Bolívar Aulacogen, and c) various Cu-Zn-Pb (Au, Ag) Volcanogene Massive Sulphide manifestations associated with intra-oceanic magmatic arc development and accretionary tectonics during the Meso-Cenozoic Northern Andean Orogeny. A new litho-structural map was derived from the airborne geophysical survey and the 3D inversions. The newly identified faulting structures are suggested to have played a key role in the gold mineralization control. Several kimberlite targets, whose magnetic response is similar to known diamantiferous kimberlite pipes occurring within the study area, were identified from the 3D inversion results. Enhanced spectrometric data imaging and their interpretation results helped detect several uranium targets occurring within the Neoproterozoic sediments and the Eburnean pegmatites of the basement rocks.

El Encierro es un yacimiento de tipo pórfido Cu-Au del Mioceno superior ubicado en la zona intermedia entre las franjas de El Indio y Maricunga, en el norte de Chile. Está emplazado bajo un extenso lithocap que presenta evidencias de mineralización de tipo epitermal de alta sulfuración y que fue explorado entre 1987 y 2010 por varias empresas. En 2016, AMSA firmó un contrato de opción de compra con Barrick con el objeto de comprobar la existencia de un sistema tipo porfídico en profundidad con potencial económico. Cuatro campañas de perforación desarrolladas entre 2015 y 2020 permitieron probar que debajo del lithocap se encuentra un sistema porfídico de Cu-Au con leyes que se incrementan por debajo de la cota 3,000 m.

Dado que el 90% de los yacimientos metálicos son hidrotermales, exceptuando los yacimientos metálicos estratoligados y los de tipo skarn, el presente texto señala la relación de los flujos mineralizantes con la distribución geométrica de los cuerpos mineralizados y la distribución espacial de los elementos metálicos en una estructura mineralizada de relleno hidrotermal. Asi también muestra las metodologías utilizadas en 23 yacimientos peruanos para la ubicación de esos flujos mineralizantes, como sus respectivos resultados.

El presente texto señala la perforación y disparo como los medios más adecuados para la explotación de la mina Marcona. Los depósitos de mineral de fierro de Marcona se encuentran ubicados en el distrito de Marcona, provincia de Nazca, Ica. Los elementos que se consideran en un banco para la perforación de taladros y voladuras son: el tipo de material que constituye el banco, altura de explotación del banco, talud en la cara libre, dureza del material, el factor de explosivo que se desea usar, incluyendo la fragmentación y el desplazamiento que se quiere obtener, y la profundidad de perforación total, que es la altura de explotación más la sobreperforación necesaria para obtener el nivel del piso deseado. Asimismo, dentro del sistema de voladuras, se emplea el uso de nitrato de amonio mezclado con petróleo residual denominado ANFO, habiéndose obtenido reducción en los costos por tonelada disparada mediante su uso.
