Se describe la clasificación de intervalos de sondajes usando técnicas de clasificación supervisada de machine learning. Las diferentes soluciones (usando propiedades químicas y geofísicas, descripción textual o imágenes) son presentadas como casos de estudio y categorizadas según su grado de dificultad. Se muestra que el problema de clasificación más complejo es aquel donde los datos de entrenamiento no describen todas las posibles clases o variaciones, y se propone el uso de clasificadores de una clase con autoencoderscomo uno solución a este problema.

The global warming and the associated changes in climate variability would increase the risk to the mining industry in both magnitude and frequency. Consequently, extreme climate conditions would disturb the infrastructure, equipment and mine closure strategies in areas that have not consider this potential impact. To cope with these climate-associated risks is critical to understand the exposure and vulnerability with a local perspective. Having a clear knowledge of the current climate risks, the vulnerability of species, ecosystems, and ecological processes in the watershed where the mining operations are is essential to inform how patterns of risks and potential benefits are shifting due to climate change.

Este yacimiento se ubica en el distrito de Morococha, provincia de Yauli, departamento de Junín y se encuentra emplazado en las calizas del metalotecto Pucará (Jurásico), en sus derivados metamórficos y dentro de una variedad de rocas ígneas del Terciario (dioritas, granodioritas, monzonitas cuarcíferas y pórfidos cuarcíferos). Su mineralogía consiste en pirita, calcopirita, tetraedrita, enargita, esfalerita, cuarzo, magnetita, calcosita, covelita, bornita, cobre nativo, tenantita, rodocrosita y silicatos de calcio-magnesio.

There are numerous examples of historic and recent mines that have no closure system or have poorly designed closure systems. These mines may contaminate water resources, land resources and cause significant impacts to human health and the environment. As a result of these problems, many regulatory agencies around the world require that mine closure systems be implemented to manage ARD and protect water resources. In this sense, the paper discusses some of the key elements that need to be evaluated when selecting a mine closure system. These include the specific site climatic, hydrogeologic, hydrologic and geochemical conditions that must be considered for closure design. Two examples of innovative mine closure systems that have been implemented to take advantage of site specific conditions to effectively manage water are provided. The mine closure systems incorporate passive measures to control ARD (acid rock drainage) and protect water resources.

For mine closure, the prospect of treating mine drainage in near-perpetuity can be onerous – especially when flow rates are high. One closure option is to construct tunnel plugs within the adits to flood the mine and reduce discharge volumes. Flooding reduces oxygen access within the mine and hence ARD potential. It also reduces hydraulic gradients such that uncontaminated groundwater is not drawn toward open, acid-generating areas of the mine/orebody. Evaluation of the technical and economic feasibility of permanently sealing mine tunnels necessitates detailed hydrogeological and geotechnical investigations. The capital costs associated with tunnel plugs may be relatively high, and there are ongoing maintenance requirements, risk of significant leakage and even risk of catastrophic failure if improperly designed or constructed. In this sense, the paper point put the means available for assessing the liabilities associated with adits at project start up, and the options available for closure of existing adits to reduce long-term environmental liabilities.

X-ray systems for elemental and phase determination have become more expensive and easier to use. In this sense, although the new systems offer more functions in the software for matrix correction, preconfigured optimized measurement parameters as well as wizards for method development, they will not perform for the applications if not used with the right sample preparation technique. Experience in this sector is not widely shared since it is a more empirical trial and error approach unique to the sample preparation equipment used. This paper outlined 3 case studies, where the sample preparation was crucial in the adaptation of the X-ray technique and it also illustrated that an analytical solution is not complete without the sample preparation, which ultimately governs the accuracy of reference materials and unknowns used. Comparing the necessary sample for XRF with the one used for ICP analysis clearly shows the time and cost savings.

Using applications can Re-block, Krige, Compute variable, Compute Route, etc. necessary block models with multiple dimensions can be created. For instance, disseminated deposits require granular ore control block model because mineralization can be unpredictable. Then different block size must be created for the ore control activity and different block size must be shaped individually in LTP, STP, and OC.

The latest technologies that improve mining and mineral processing efficiency and significantly reduce the emissions and effluents will be briefly reviewed. In this sense, the paper point out that the water treatment using techniques such as nanofiltration through membranes to achieve purity levels equal to the incoming water supply is now possible and examples of how this is done will be presented. Membrane technology using nanofiltration can be effectively used for recovering valuable products in water from mining operations and also to remove contaminants. The resulting water is of prime quality equalling potable water standards. The technology can be adapted to most mining operations.

High-grade epithermal zinc deposits are hosted by carbonate rocks in transition zones between the HS and IS environments, whereas large tonnages of lowgrade epithermal zinc mineralization of either HS or IS type occur in diatreme breccias or impregnate lacustrine sedimentary rocks around volcanic centers."

Exploration geochemistry for many years has been very effective in searching for mineral deposits covered by residual overburden or blind ore bodies hosted in pre-ore rocks. It has not been as effective discovering ore bodies deeply concealed under various kinds of transported overburden or post-ore sedimentary and volcanic rocks. From the 1980s to 1990s, various types of new geochemical techniques with the ability of deep-penetration through exotic covers have been developed. The concepts and methodology of deeppenetrating geochemistry are evolving from partial extraction and gas surveys prevailing from the 1950s up to now, but there are intrinsic differences. Most of the new deep-penetrating methods are used in detailed surveys to delineate deeply concealed ore bodies which could not be ascertained by conventional geological, geophysical and geochemical surveys. In this sense, the sampling and analytical methods of Nameg and Momeo are described briefly. Experiments of such strategic deep-penetrating geochemical surveys have been carried out in desert, alluvium, steppe and laterite covered terrains in China, Australia and Uzbekstan.

The increasing emphasis on environmental issues has crucial importance in mining projects, hence in tailings dams. Their water barrier needs a two-fold environmental assessment: the environmental impact caused by construction activities, and the environmental impact over time. Unfortunately, tailings dams’ failures have great and long-lasting environmental consequences, and as mining sites become bigger and tailings dams higher, the risk of failures may increase. Furthermore, since these dams are mostly constructed over many years, design parameters/materials may change, the engineers may change, and since cost is a driving parameter, less attention may be given to quality control and monitoring. Geomembrane water barriers mitigate such impacts.
