A photochromic material is one which undergoes a change of color when exposed to light and reverts to its original color when the light is removed. Review articles carrying extensive bibliographies have been written by Brown and Shaw (1) and by Schwab and Bertelson (2). Organics. Schwab and Bertelson divide the reactions in different organic photochromic materials into some half-dozen categories; Windsor (3) reduces these to the following three main classes of general interest, based on how they work. 1. Stereoisomers. Absorption of light breaks one of the chemical bonds in a. ring molecule, thus allowing the molecule to unwind and form a different geometrical arrangement. The reverse process is a reforming of the bond. Examples of this class are the spiropyrans and the anils. 2. Dyes. A triphenyl methane dye, for example, is oxidized by energetic light; the absorption characteristics of the positive ion so formed are different from those of the original electrically neutral benzene rings. 3. Triplet States. In the class of polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, ground-state molecules are excited first to a singlet state by irradiation, and then go, via the lowest triplet state, to an excited triplet state. Visible light is absorbed in the triplet-triplet transition.

INTRODUCTION Chuquicamata mine is a large copper open pit located in the north of Chile. It has been in production for more than 80 years and now is in the later stages of its life with declining grades and increasing haul distances. As any old mine with long established organizations and procedures, it has faced one of the most difficult managerial problems: to conduct changes. Since 1994, the new management team has been devoted to a modernization pro- gram focused mainly in restructuring business operations. downsizing the labor force and introducing a mine planning pro- cess consistent with the company's goal. The explicit identification of the latter issue has been made because of the management’s conviction about the importance of it in the profitability of the business. The mine planning process at Chuquicamata mine has evolved from an old manual technique towards a modern computarized system, however the fundamental aspects and the procedures involved in this process have been the same. For in- stance, the cutoff grades policy has not changed during the last said 20 years, regardless of the changes to grade distribution, commodity prices, plant capacities, etc. To review and rethink this process, the strategy was to work with a small group of inside engineers and the management in order to interact with several mining consulting firms. The idea was to open a discussion about the fundamental principles used in the mine planning activities and, at the same time, to explore new ideas to improve the operating practices that have been followed for a long time. Thus, the goal of this paper is to present the mine planning approach that was the result of this work and the improvements that were obtained. THE CHUQUICAMATA MINE The Chuquicamata division is one of the five operations of Codelco and is currently devoted to operating the Chuquicamata mine; a copper open pit, concentrator, smelting and refining complex. It also operates Mina Sur which consists of an open pit mine, a leaching-solvent extraction and electrowinning process. There is also a dump leaching and a Sx-Ew plant for treating the low grade suifide ore (under the cutoff grade) from the Chuquicamata mine. Prior to reviewing the mine planning process, capacities for the Chuquicamata sulfide line were 640 000 tpd of run of mine material, 160 000 tpd of ore and 4 200 tpd of concentrate. This meant a total annual movement of around 230 Mt in the mine and a treatment of 57 Mt in the concentrator with a stripping ratio of approximately 3: 1. The old exploitation strategy consisted of an "open scheme", which means that all benches must have a berm with enough space to allow the traffic of large haulage trucks. This fact implied working with a great flexibility, but the consequences were flat slope angles. One of the reasons for using this operating practice in short term planning was that the grade consistency from the pit has always been a controversial variable. Schedules were designed to meet grade targets accurately and they were modified immediately when deviations become apparent. This reality led to working with a great deal of independent pushbacks and it required flexibility in the traffic system. The cutoff grade policy has been the same for a long time and the figure was 0.5 %CUT either for sulfide or oxide ore. This was the reason why a balance was produced between the mine and the concentrator. The mine is operated principally with benches of 26 m but in the upper part of the pit there are benches of 24 and 30 m. The main production equipment is shovels of 28 and 34 yd3 along with trucks of 200 and 240 st. Regarding the crushing facilities, there are two main systems located inside the pit and an old one in the periphery, close to a stockpile and near the concentrator. In the north part of the pit there is a crusher for waste material and in the north-east area is located the ore crusher facility. Both restrict a significant area of the pit and the mine sequence is considering to move the ore crusher again to the south-east sector where it used to be located. Relating to the waste crusher, the idea is to move it up to a bench near the surface in order to use the same conveyor belt and, at the same time, liberate an important sector. THE MINE PLANNING PROCESS The objective of the mine planning process is to develop a mine plan for the life of the deposit, in harmony and consistent with the company's goal. It includes the origin and destiny of tonnages and grades from the mine(s), along with the necessary resources to carry out this plan such as: fleet requirement, consumable goods, manpower, etc. From the financial point of view, it means to establish the cash flow for each time period of the mine life. That is. the revenue, capital investment and operating cost associated with each period of the plan. The fundamental principles involved in the mine planning pro- cess have been a controversial issue for a long time. One of the reasons for these divergent views could be produced by the difficulty of modeling a complete extraction policy for a geological re- source. This particular problem has to deal with several decision variables that are time dependent. So far, there is no mathematical formulation for managing such a problem, and the approach to solve it is based on a circular analysis combined with certain heuristic tools. So, a global model rather than a formula, requires a clear understanding of mine operations as well as economic theory and its application to a non-renewable resource. In order to manage this complex problem, the mine planning process can be conveniently split off in three stages which are conceptual, feasibility and operational planning. The characteristics of each stage are basically the timeliness in which they are developed and the kind and number of variables involved. One need be neither an historian nor technologist to recognize that activi¬ties related to the conversion of coal to other usable energy forms have been active for nearly fifty years. The degree of such activity and its evolution to significant commercial proportions has, however, fluctuated widely with world circumstance. For the past decade there has existed both a consistent technology evolution effort in classic R & D proportions, and a mainstream commercial acti¬vity but in rather modest proportions when viewed from the vantage point of world energy needs. But the chain of events wherein it became increasingly obvious that we were in energy trouble irrespective of world politics, spurred alternative energy source activities in the fossil fuels areas. The oil embargo of 1973-1974 made the obvious even more so and provided additional emphasis for the need of such alternatives. Yet the preponderance of these added expenditures and activities (with one notable exception which is the subject of this discussion) has been focused on the intended identification of the best or ultimate process by means of analytical and modest empirical means, whereas our circumstance dictates a bold, higher-risk effort to prove the viability of coal conversion as an industry on a real-time, real-size, real-economics basis. With such proof on hand, industry demands in all related areas will provide the stimulus, motivation and environment for all processes. There is both need and room for many who will compete for a meaningful segment of this new industry which can grow at a rate never seen before in our growth history. The single program in the world today oriented specifically toward the goal of proof of industry viability is the Energy Research and Development Administration's CBF (clean boiler fuels) Program for which COALCON is proud to be the prime contractor.

The 1.8 mi (2.9 km) Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Light Rail Transit Tunnels and Station project is comprised of the underground segments of the 11.8 mi(18.8 km) Hiawatha Light Rail Transit route in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The 21 ft 2 in(6.5 m) diameter twin tunnels were mined 65 ft beneath one of the busiest airports in the United States using an earth pressure balanced tunnel-boring machine. This paper will provide a project overview, review the major equipment selected, tunnel segment casting, and describe excavation and lining operations for the tunnels and station.

"This paper presents the evaluation Montana Tech completed for the Western Energy Company Rosebud Mine relating to the benefits of survey data collected using novel technologies over traditional methods for topographic surveys. These technologies include Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), photogrammetry, and laser scanning/LIDAR. Utilizing these technologies, large areas such as reclamation areas and cast blasts can be surveyed in a timely manner for use by the mining operation. The areas that were evaluated were the improvements in the safety of employees and the time required to collect data. In addition, there is also a potential cost savings for the operation, all while not affecting the accuracy of the data that is collected. PROJECT BACKGROUND Accurate topographic survey data is critical to successful surface mining operations. It is used for mine planning and design as well as permit compliance. Currently, employees typically collect survey data using GPS equipment or total stations. These methods can be dangerous, as they require employees to work near large operating mobile equipment, edge of high walls, and on piles of stacked steep-sloped loose material. Aerial and satellite photographs, performed by a contractor, can be used to obtain some of this information, but it is expensive and may not be attainable during overcast conditions. Montana Tech, along with the Rosebud Mine, conducted research on the accuracy, cost, and other benefits of survey data collected using novel technologies. Some of the methods studied include, but are not limited to, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) or Vehicles (UAV), photogrammetry, and laser scanning. These methods were evaluated to determine if these technologies provide mining companies with a safer, cost effective, and accurate method to collect data for surface mining operations. The project scope was to evaluate various surveying techniques to determine which techniques would be applicable for the Rosebud Mine and complete a trade-off study comparing the new techniques with currently used methods. The trade-off study included an analysis of the technological differences between the methods, safety and legal considerations for the new techniques, operational limits, and the costs associated with each technique. Working with the Rosebud Mine team, techniques were selected for field trial and accuracy comparison. This paper presents a literature review of applicable technical papers and a summary of the Federal Aviation Administration regulations for UAS, followed by a study comparing conventional GPS topographic surveys with UAS based systems and laser scanning systems. The comparison of the various methods was broken into the following four categories: operator safety analysis, time comparison, survey accuracy, and cost analysis. After all of these portions of comparison were completed a recommendation was provided based on the evaluation that was performed."

"Horizontal stress can have a profound effect on the stability of an underground limestone mine. The presence of horizontal stress is usually determined once the mine has been developed and the orientation of headers and crosscuts are well established. Multiple attempts are typically made to control roof falls without re-orienting the mine. Once the decision has been made to change the orientation, pillar centers, mine opening widths, and the question of how to determine the correct orientation must be answered.A case history is presented to illustrate how geologic structure, ground conditions and roof falls in adjacent mines, the World Stress Map (Heidbach et al., 2016), in-mine measurement of “cutter” roof orientation, the orientation of strata offset (cats eyes) within borescope holes, and the diametral deviation method of determining horizontal strain from drill core were used to establish the most likely range of horizontal stress.The main headers were re-orientated in a direction parallel to the median of the range of horizontal stress. The crosscuts were angled 60° to the headers to avoid being perpendicular to the horizontal stress direction. Pillar centers and opening widths were increased in the favorable stress direction of the mains and decreased in the less favorable crosscut orientation. The major principal horizontal stress magnitude was estimated using the strain measurements from the diametral deviation method and elastic modulus obtained through testing.INTRODUCTIONOver the past decade, there has been a significant increase in the number of underground stone mining operations in the United States. As stripping ratios at surface quarries become uneconomical and reach the extent of the mineral boundary, coupled with the encroachment of urban development on previously rural mining operations, the remaining mine reserves are best accessed through underground development.Although the majority of underground limestone mines in the Midwest are in relatively flat lying deposits with minimal geologic structure, many Appalachian mines are in folded and faulted environments. Tectonic horizontal stresses associated with multiple orogenic episodes are locked in the formation and are released as the underground mine is developed.A common misconception is that horizontal stress impacts are more prevalent at shallow depths where the ratio of horizontal to vertical stress may be high. However, field observations and academic research indicates that horizontal stress conditions may be encountered at any depth due to the tectonic compression of the limestone formation (Esterhuizen et al., 2007; Dolinar and Esterhuizen, 2007; Iannacchione et al., 2003; Slaker, Murphy, and Miller, 2017; Kuhnhein and Ramer, 2004). This paper outlines mine design and layout guidelines for the mitigation of horizontal stress impacts on underground stone mining operations through a case history example. This approach to mine planning and the ability to anticipate horizontal stress can significantly improve future production of multiple levels (Newman and Newman, 2019). As underground stone production continues at deeper depths and in more geologically and geometrically complex mining conditions, an emphasis on ground control and the anticipation of horizontal stress can provide safer and more productive single and multiple level mining operations."

Introduction The Utah Copper Division of Kennecott Copper Corporation will present its contribution to the A. M. Gaudin Flotation Symposium in four parts. The first two segments will discuss briefly the historical development of the Utah Copper Division and describe the ore body. The third segment will review the facilities and operating procedures for the Utah Copper Division's newest plant, the Bonneville Concentrator. The fourth segment describes flotation process circuitry, including molybdenite recovery procedures, at the Arthur and Magna concentrators. (The Bonneville concentrator is a crushing and grinding unit and does not have its own flotation plant). 1. Historical Development Progress through change has been the key to the successful operation of the Utah Copper Division for more than 70 years. As the original low-grade copper operation, the pressures to remain competitive and profitable have dictated the timing and extent of each change. Much of the change has occurred through technological and economic advancements in the area of ore concentration. The Utah Copper Division of Kennecott Copper Corporation had its origin June 4, 1903, when the Utah Copper Company was organized. The initial mill of 300 tpd (tons per day) capacity was built at Copperton a few miles below the present Bingham Canyon mine site. From 1904 to 1910, the Copperton mill was expanded to a capacity of 1,000 tpd, and all of the known apparatus for gravity concentration were evaluated.

Debate on an appropriate, acceptable method of regulating mine and mineral processing wastes has been ongoing since Congress passed the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) on October 21. 1976. Final regulatory determination on which mineral processing wastes are excluded from the RCRA hazardous waste regulations under the Bevill amendment was made by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on June 13, 1991. Regardless of whether a mining or mineral processing facility?s waste stream(s) lost or maintained its exclusion status under the Bevill amendment, that facility can expect more stringent regulation of affected waste streams. These more stringent regulations will be added to an already complex regulatory maze, which includes the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA), and Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), as well as state and municipal environmental regulations.

Compressed air energy storage (CAES) has been initiated recently in West Germany with a 290 MW peaking-power facility utilizing twin cavities with volumes of 150,000 m3 each in the Huntorf salt dome (1). The implementation of CAES in several geologic media is being studied carefully in the United States (2); however, the use of cavities for CAES in salt domes or salt anticlines and the associated long-term stability of these cavities is the specific topic of this paper (3). The cavities represent an essential element in a CAES plant, and thus should be designed and operated to perform with "stability" over the planned life of the overall facility. As employed herein, cavity stability implies the extent to which an acceptable amount of cavity storage volume can be utilized with economic maintenance over the planned life of the overall facility. In this sense stability is relative to the planned use of a storage cavity. Figure 1. depicts the salt deposits of the United States (U.S.) (4). The Gulf Coast region includes the only confirmed salt dome basin in the U.S., although salt structures also exist as anticlines in the Paradox Basin of Utah and Colorado. Because of the relatively small amount of elevation change within the Gulf Coast, CAES in salt dome cavities appears to hold considerably more potential for energy storage in this region than more traditional "pumped hydro" systems.

To evaluate intelligently and to market a source of rare earth raw material, it is necessary that the producer understand the requirements of the processor and the manner in which these requirements effect the value and salability of his product. This paper will be an attempt to aid in such an understanding. The majority of rare earth processors are primarily chemical companies, not mining or metallurgical companies, as the complexities of the processing procedures are' much more chemical in nature than metallurgical. The rare earths and the rare earth industry are normally divided into two groups - the ?light? or cerium group and the ?heavy? or yttrium group. They are so named because cerium and yttrium are the most common elements in 'heir respective groups and are so divided on the basis of mineralogical and chemical characteristics. The dividing line of the two groups is not rigidly fixed but usually is considered as being between samarium (atomic number 62) and europium (atomic number 63). Although the two groups are quite similar, processing procedures differ significantly, hence most processors tend to specialize in one group or the other. There is, however, a growing tendency toward participation in both groups.

Autogenous grinding, broadly defined as the self-comminution of ore in a cylindrical tumbling mill without using auxiliary grinding media, was first applied in the early thirties in the so-called Hadsel mills (Figure 1) mainly used in gold mines on the U.S. West Coast. A number of these mills were built in sizes of 20 to 24 ft. in diameter and five-six feet in length but were later abandoned because of operating and maintenance problems. Further development of autogenous grinding led to the Hardinge wet grinding mill (Figure 2), the Aerofall dry grinding mill and others. A tabulation of all known autogenous and semi-autogenous installations around the world was sent recently to the authors by Hr. G. J. Kushner of the Koppers Mineral Processing Division. In the size range of 24 to 32-ft. in diameter, it lists a total of thirty mills used in the processing of copper ores. An additional 120 units are listed in the same size range for the processing of iron ores and other minerals. The largest mills in existence are 36-ft. dia X 15-ft. long mills in Minnesota, powered by 12,000 hp. motors and used in taconite beneficiation. It is indicative of the phenomenal growth of this technology that none of the above one hundred and fifty mills was in operation prior to 1964.

High-purity quartz (SiO2) is an important material widely used in many industries, including semiconductor technology, telecommunication, and optics. The content and distribution of impurities in quartz significantly affect the processing methods. This paper provides an insightful review on the processing of high-purity quartz, covering the analytical techniques, separation methods, and the critical procedures used to assess the quality of quartz ore. More importantly, the critical review of the thermal phase transition separation method for fine-grained mineral inclusions, micron-grade fluid inclusions, and lattice-bound trace elements is notably opened for the first time. It is proposed that the research field as a monopolized industry would benefit by expounding the critical problems that occur during the preparation of high-purity quartz.

Automated temporary roof support (ATRS) systems have been incorporated into roof bolters since the 1970's. During roof bolting, many injuries have occurred from large pieces of draw rock falling inby the ATRS beam and tipping back into the operator's area. Other injuries have occurred due to smaller, sharp rocks falling onto the operator's hand and arm during initiation of roof bolt drilling. These injuries are attributed to weak immediate roof, sometimes called roof skin failure. Even though ATRS systems support the roof and provide a measure of protection against roof skin failure, additional hazards sometimes do exist immediately inby and outby the supported roof. Design innovations such as the ATRS mounted rocker pad deflector systems have been designed to improve the roof bolter operator safety. This paper will inform the reader of the hazards, machine evolution through different design solutions, and the current state of the art in preventing roof skin failure injuries when roof bolting.

"In Antioquia region of Colombia – South America most of extractive activity is developed as artisanal and small-scale level, exploiting different types of minerals resources but predominantly gold. This is not only an ancestral livelihood of hundreds of families in this region, but also their unique way of subsistence. However, that situation has not had a positive effect in the sustainable development of this territory because of several unsustainability factors mainly related to mercury use for gold extraction, the incorrect management of tailings and the informal way in which miners perform their activity. In 2010 Antioquia was the place with the highest contamination by mercury in the world with serious effects in ecosystems and health of habitants of this region (Veiga 2010) This paper presents a Socio-Technical Model focused on strengthening capabilities and social capital of artisanal and small-scale miners and its surrounding communities in Antioquia region. This is based on processes of evaluation, design and implementation of appropriate technologies to obtain “clean minerals” without using mercury and with a right management of tailings. In gold extraction it is about gravitational methods of concentration, which take advantage of high density of this element. These methods not only are cleaner but more profitable for miners. Notwithstanding its technical origins, the current model proposes a holistic framework that manages the elimination of mercury in mining not only as a technology transfer matter. Thus, more than formalization the strengthening process seeks to promote a business vision in miners and to develop productive chains in surrounding communities, this means to improve the skills of artisanal and small-scale miners to organize in a corporative way and to help surrounding communities to provide support and supply services to mining and even to other companies. Besides, the articulation with local institutions drives to reinforce their functions of control and accompaniment. In shorthand, this effort aims to empower local institutions, miners and surrounding communities in such a way they are able to face together their own development challenges in a sustainable way."

Productivity is a fascinating concept. Like motherhood or apple pie, we know it as a good thing. Just what it means is not so clear. To a coal miner we assume it means tons of coal hauled from the mine. To the company president it means profit after capital, labor, and other costs have also been reckoned. To the government economist it means output in a balance of payments. What does it mean to the biologist, and can reclamation really be productive? In this paper we discuss productivity from a biological viewpoint, give some yield data for various types of reclamation plantings, and discuss how our demand for or acceptance of differing kinds of productivity is tied up in bigger questions of land use, environmental stability, and resource allocation.

Ore grinding mills are really just slowly rotating barrels, but barrels that are growing in size so fast that the application of electric drives for them is rapidly approaching a technology like that for wind tunnels or pumped storage drives. This application is particularly worthy of care because some 40% of the 75 megawatts of power used by a large copper ore concentrator, or some 60% of the 200 megawatts supplied to a large iron ore concentrator, are for grinding. These ore plants are located where the ore is, not where a utility happens to be. So, the challenge is not only to choose a drive and .power transmission for reasonable cost, high performance, reliability and minimum maintenance, but to afford the interface between mill drive and power distribution and source systems to minimize the whole ore plant's monthly power bill, or costs of self generation. Conclusions can be reached in optimizing a drive selection only for each particular ore plant's set of parameters, but by identifying the criteria for selection and then weighting each type of drive per criteria, yardsticks for final choice become apparent. This is the purpose of this paper. Grinding action takes place inside the barrel, where the ore charge is ground with the aid of balls, or mill length rods, or large chunks of ore as in autogenous grinding.

In 1997, 92.3% or 235.7 Mt (259.8 million st) of coal produced in Wyoming came from the Wyodak coal zone in the eastern Powder River coalfield. The mined portions of the zone consist of one to three beds of coal with an aggregate thickness between 15 and 33.5 m (50 and 110 ft). The thickest expression is 61 m (200 ft). The delivered coal from this zone averages 0.33% sulfur, 5.12% ash and 19.98 MJ/kg (8,590 Btu/lb.). This coal zone occurs at or near the top of the Paleocene Fort Union Formation, which is overlain by the Eocene Wasatch Formation. There is also production from two coalbeds in the lower portion of the Wasatch at the southern end of the basin. Production of coalbed methane derived from the Wyodak coal zone is currently an estimated 289 Mm3/a (10.2 billion cu ft/year). This production is occurring west and downdip from the coal mines and is increasing each year.

Incident investigation is of utmost importance in most high-risk industries. This study was undertaken to study the content of past investigation reports to determine the effectiveness of the incident investigations. The study uses a semi-quantitative method to assess the effectiveness of incident investigations in the Ghanaian mining industry by evaluating the quality of past investigation reports. The assessment tool consists of 5 elements with several indicators and rating scales for assessing the quality of an investigation report as a measure of the effectiveness of the investigation. The method was applied to 304 investigation reports of 3 Ghanaian large-scale gold mines, and the results correlated with incidence rates of the mines to determine if any relationship existed. The results showed that the mines differ significantly in the quality of their investigation reports, suggesting differences in the effectiveness of their investigations. In addition, the incidence rates of the mines negatively correlated with some elements of the assessment tool. In general, the method was found useful and revealed areas where improvement is needed. INTRODUCTION The importance of learning from incidents is well documented in the literature. For instance, some scholars regard learning from incidents as important for improving safety [1,2]. Thus, many organisations spend considerable resources in identifying lessons from incidents and subsequently on the process of improvement that follows the identification of lessons. It is therefore important for such organisations to determine the effectiveness of their learning from incidents processes, in order to identify specific areas where improvements are needed, so that interventions can be as specific as possible. The learning from incidents process models the plan-act-check-do approach of management systems, often consisting of four major stages, namely; data collection and incident analysis, planning interventions, implementing interventions and follow-ups and evaluation [3,2]. The investigating and analysis of incidents have been regarded as one of the vital stages of the learning process since it is the stage where lessons are identified [3,2,4]. It has also been noted elsewhere in the literature that results of the previous stage of the learning process are important for the next stage [3]. For example, ineffective incident analyses could result in the planning of ineffective remedial measures. One of the primary aims of incident investigations is to identify lessons from previous incidents which when implemented can prevent future recurrences or minimise the effects of future incidents. There is thus the need for organisations to assess the quality of their investigations periodically since it is one of the means they adopt to improve safety and the quality of remedial measures to some extent depends on the effectiveness of the investigations. Although previous studies [5,2] have assessed the effectiveness of the learning process, and some aspects of the learning process, such as incidents reporting, there is less focus on the effectiveness of incident investigations. The research described in this paper was therefore conducted to contribute to this gap, focusing more closely on incident investigation reports.

Any area that supports herbivores must have a plant base to supply food, In Alaska, herds of caribou migrate and live north of the Arctic Circle. And, if there is enough growth in the moss and lichens and arctic grass to support a caribou herd, the "tender tundra" can heal after it has been disturbed by mining. Another myth is that Alaska is an ice box. Actually, many areas In the state---particularly the Interior---have a high agricultural potential. Nevertheless, the fact remains: whether it is reclaimed by advancing the productivity from forest to agriculture or is allowed to remain a wild-life habitat, Alaskan land will revegetate. Reseeding speeds reclamation, but left to nature, native species will reclaim the land whether it was disturbed by forest fires, roads, villages, or mining. In fact, it is impossible to find many of the old gold mining camps.
