India is the third largest producer with accounting to fifth largest reserves base of coal in the world. Indian coal has high ash content (15-45%) and low calorific value. The basic processes being used in India at different places for coal washing adopts old techniques. Much of the valuable part is being lost during washing processes. With enhancement of the available techniques and use of new processes like flotation process indicates better recovery of carbon values during washing stage. The same will increase the reserve base, improve economy of operation and alleviate environment related problems. In the above backdrop this paper portrays the case study of an existing coal processing plant in India. The case study includes the modifications being incorporated in the existing process to enhance the product value. The existing practices and the future trend of process technology that could be adopted to meet the requirements in this country are also discussed. Bentonite is an excellent sealant mineral material because of its desirable swelling and self-healing characteristics, low permeability, sorptive qualities, and longevity in nature. A new type of water-swelling building sealant made from bentonite was studied in this paper. The building sealant is prepared by Na-base bentonite, vaseline and paraffin wax under different mass fraction of bentonite (which is 60%,65%,70% respectively). Under unrestricted state, some properties of samples were investigated. The volume expansion ratio at 24 h is 211%, 222%, 256% , and permeability coefficient is 2.86×10-8 cm/s, 4.15×10-8 cm/s and 4.78×10-8 cm/s respectively; low temperature flexibility of the sample (bentonite quality is 65%, 70% respectively) is good, and it does not flow heated for 2 h under 80?. The results of XRD and SEM indicate that bentonite is coated preferably by vaseline, and the spacing of layers of bentonite do not changed. The sample can keep full water swelling ability, and has good molding process. The test results prove that the properties of samples may reach the standard of building sealant.

The mechanism of cobalt removal from zinc sulfate solution with zinc dust is still not understood well. The experiments in this paper were carried out by zinc dust from zinc sulfate solution with high cobalt to study the mechanism of cobalt removal. Residues after the cementation process from zinc sulfate solution were analyzed by SEM and Electron probe micro-analysis (EPMA) to investigate the morphology of products. Different temperature will cause different structure of particles. With the increasement of temperature, cobalt removal can be improved considerably. The mechanism of cobalt removal by zinc dust is thought as follows: firstly, the cobalt ion forms Co-Zn alloy with zinc particles, and the reaction reaches equilibrium quickly; secondly, the Co-Zn alloy continues reacting to Co with Co2+, which is the control procedure of the whole reaction.

Mica plate is broadly used in electric industry, production of man-made mica paper plate is in-creasing. The problem coming with is that large quantities of leftover materials unable to be re-cycled are produced during cutting and molding of mica plate productions. The leftover materials are always abandoned as crabs, which not only pollute the environment but also waste our resources. The study intends to find a new measure to decompose and to reuse the mica plate leftover materials so as to create a new production process of mica plate, which is clean and does not produce crabs.

"Lithium discovered in La Vi deposit, Quang Ngai province in the Central of Vietnam was estimated with a reserve of approximately 1.5 million tones of lithium ore, which was characterized by mainly lepidolite with muscovite, albite, and quartz. This study investigated reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions of enrichment technology for lepidolite from the mined ore by flotation process, and producing Li2CO3 and LiCl from lepidolite concentrate by hydrometallurgical process. The significant conditions for froth flotation of lithium ore including particle size, pH of ore slurry, pulp density, chemical spending (collectors, activators, depressants, and frothers), stirring and flotation time were investigated. The identified reasonable flowsheet and optimal conditions for froth flotation the La Vi lithium ore processed lepidolite concentrate containing up to 4 wt.% Li2O with a recovery of 87.61 wt.%. The processes of sulfation roasting lepidolite concentrate using FeSO4.7H2O, then leaching in H2SO4 solution, and removing impurities were carried out to prepare a pure lithium-bearing solution for producing Li2CO3 and LiCl. The products containing 99.05 wt.% of Li2CO3 and 99.02 wt.% of LiCl were obtained with recoveries of 82.97 wt.% and 85.77 wt.%, respectively. The obtained results indicated that lithium ore in La Vi deposit can be processed to produce commercial lithium products and lead the study to develop technology for a new industry of lithium processing in Vietnam.INTRODUCTION Lithium is the lightest metal, which has many superior properties in both metal and compound (such as Li2CO3, LiCl...) states since its discovery in 1817 by Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson. Lithium is a favourable material for many high technology fields such as aerospace industry and chemical industry. Some industrial fields which present the main consumptions of lithium include ceramic, glass, aluminum alloy, lubricants, rechargeable Li-ion batteries, synthetic rubber, and pharmaceuticals. The worldwide production of lithium in 2014 was 31,700 tones, continually increased in 2015 of 5% presented 32,500 tones (USGS, 2016). The demand for lithium tends to increase because of the raising in consumption of lithium batteries. Lithium is mined from salar brines, mainly in Chile and Bolivia, but also from granites and pegmatites, which contain minerals with high lithium content such as spodumene - LiAlSi2O6 (Heinrich et al., 1978; Linnen et al., 2012); petalite - LiAlSi4O10 (Sitando & Crouse, 2012); zinnwaldite - KLiFe2+Al(AlSi3O10)(F,OH)2 (Paukov et al., 2010; Kondás J. & Jandová J., 2006); lepidolite - K(Li,Al)3(Si,Al)4O10(F,OH)2 (Luong et al., 2013); and amblygonite - LiAlPO4F (Garrett, 2004)."

The flotation efficiency of magnetic concentrate of the Anhui hematite ore, which includes a great quantity of iron-bearing silicates, has been studied through reverse flotation test with a new type of collector Fly-102. The results indicate that collector Fly-102 has a strong adaptability to the variation of temperature, when the flotation temperature is in the range of 10? to 35?, using collector Fly-102 can obtain good flotation indexes. Collector Fly-102 has a strong adaptability to the variation of the slime contents and grades of the flotation samples. When the content of slime and the grade of the flotation feeds are 30% and 55.63% respectively, under the condition that the temperature is 15?, the open circuit flotation test was carried out with collector Fly-102. After one-stage roughing, one-stage cleaning and two-stage scavenging, a better result is got, the grade of iron concentrate reaches 67.12%, and the recovery of iron concentrate comes up to 84.15%.

Red mud is the major waste material produced during digestion of bauxite ores with caustic soda in alumina production following the Bayer?s process. Its disposal remains a worldwide issue in terms of environmental concerns. A lot of research and developmental activities are going on throughout the world to find effective utilization of red mud, which involves various product developments. At present, building materials, industries are fast growing industrial sector where the need of various raw materials is enormous. The use of red mud in building material production is one of the options for conservation of natural resources and reduction of environmental pollution. A cost-effective and energy efficient mineral cementation process has been developed at CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar for use of red mud in manufacture of building brick, block and aggregate. The red mud is an alkaline material, which contains both leachable and non-leachable soda along with different mineral constituents of alumina, iron and silica. The effort has been made to use the mineral constituents of red mud to develop cold setting building brick by mineral cementation process using a binder specially prepared from Portland Slag Cement, Lime, Gypsum and Alkali metal sulfates. The red mud has been used from 40 to 70% by weight along with fly ash and binder in development of cold setting building brick conforming to the specification of IS:12894:2002.

Among the different valences of vanadium, V (?) is insoluble in acid, V (?) and V (?) is in-soluble in water but soluble in acid. Vanadium mainly exists as V (?) in vanadium titanium-rich material obtained by reduction -milling-separation from vanadiferous titanomagnetite. Therefore, the vanadium titanium-rich material can not be used to extract vanadium by acid directly. In this paper, the vanadium leaching was studied by oxidation roasting and acid leaching. Through oxidation roasting, vanadium is transformed from the insoluble V (?) into V (?) or V (?) in order to improve the leaching of vanadium. The results show that vanadium leaching increases significantly by oxidation roasting-acid leaching. Leaching of vanadium is up to 70.18% under the optimized conditions of roasting temperature of 950 ?, roasting time of 40 min, sulfuric acid concentration of 40%, leaching time of 4h, leaching temperature of 95 ? and liquid to solid ratio of 4 : 1.

The present paper is about the restoration of the molybdenum production in the floatation plant of Ellatzite-Med AD in Bulgaria. The process, based on a working design, includes the construction of a new floatation molybdenum section in the existing molybdenum department of the Floatation Plant using the so called Vemco inert-gas floatation machines, made especially for the molybdenum floatation. While in the ordinary floatation machines, block impellers create suspension of the air, sucked from the atmosphere with the slime particles of the concentrate, which creates conditions for oxidizing the reagent, Vemco inert-gas floatation machines are covered with hermetic lids and the air inside the chamber is used. The technology, suggested by Geotechkoper Ltd. for making the working project, employs special machines from Dor Olliver Aimco, suitable specifically for molybdenum floatation in order to reduce the oxidizing of the reagent sodium hydrosulphate. Also the transport of the chamber product is done in hermetic conditions as the molybdenum flotation is done in two floatation rows and refining operations 3 to 8 are placed in the second row. Thus in the basic molybdenum floatation together with the first and second refining operations, which are hermetically closed, an ambient condition with low content of oxygen is created, that is about 8% for oxygen and about 92% of nitrogen, in which the oxidizing process is extremely reduced. This in turn results in reducing the consumption of the reagent depressor ? sodium hydrosulphate. In that way there is an improvement of the economical indices of the molybdenum production.

"Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a typically synthetic depressant and may be used as a depressor of pyrite. The modification of polyacrylamide may improve its physicochemical properties and performances. Sulfonated polyacrylamides (SPAM) with different sulfonation degree (SD) were prepared using sodium sulfite as the sulfonating agent, and the interactions of SPAM and pyrite were investigated by the adsorption experiment in this work. The adsorption tests of SPAM on pyrite were conducted as a function of sulfonation degree, pH value and contact time. Pyrite and SPAM were constructed and optimized through MS software. The interaction mechanisms of sulfonated polyacrylamide and pyrite were simulated by molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that the adsorption capacities of SPAM at neutral and weak alkaline conditions are higher than that at acidic and strong basic conditions. The high sulfonation degree favors the adsorption of SPAM on pyrite surface. The adsorption process can be described best by the pseudo-second order kinetic model. Molecular dynamics simulations show that the adsorption of sulfonated polyacrylamide on pyrite is better than that of polyacrylamide. Sulfonated polyacrylamide can be used as a potential depressant of pyrite with the main interacting mechanism of hydrogenbond force.INTRODUCTIONPyrite is the most abundant sulfide mineral and often associated with valuable minerals such as galena, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, molybdenite, gold, diaspore as well as coal (Forrest et al., 2001; Jaiswal et al., 2015; Maier and Dobiáš, 1997; Qiu et al., 2017; Xin and Liye, 2010). Froth flotation is the most popular method to remove pyrite from valuable minerals. Pyrite could be floated as the flotation concentrate either by its hydrophobicity or activation by metal ions (Chandra and Gerson, 2009). What is more, pyrite could be seperated as flotation tailing by adding highly selective depressants including inorganic and organic modifiers. Polysaccharides polymers and lignosulfonate-based biopolymers are common natural organic depressants (Deng et al., 2017; Mu et al., 2016). While the synthetic organic products have proved to be particularly versatile in terms of molecule tailing capability and controlled structures (Boulton et al., 2001a; Raffa et al., 2015)."

Mongolia has some of the world?s largest coal reserves with an estimated total coal reserve of over 150 billion tonnes. At present, over 90% of Mongolian electricity is produced by combined heat and thermal power stations. The main coal deposits used for Central power system's power stations are Baganuur, Shivee-ovoo lignite type coal and Shariin gol bituminous coal. In Mongolia almost 600,000 tonnes of coal combustion by-products are disposed of in waste ponds. In this research, we have thoroughly characterized Mongolian coal combustion by-products including fly ashes sourced directly from thermal power stations and ash retrieved from ponds. It was determined that fly ashes generated from Baganuur and Shivee-ovoo coal deposits are class C, while ash from Shariin gol coal is class F (according the ASTM C618). All ash products were characterized by chemical, mineralogical, granulometrical, porosity, FE-SEM and radiation methods. Fly ashes sourced directly from power stations were found to be more suitable for manufacture of geopolymers for building materials application and zeolite synthesis than ashes retrieved from ash ponds. The adsorption and porous properties of zeolitic compounds were measured and found to be suitable for adsorption of Cr6+ from simulated tannery waste water. Clay sorbents from the North Bohemian Brown Coal Basin represent important but still some-what neglected accessory raw material. Submitted paper is concerned with relation between mineral structure, sorptive efficiency and reclamation exploitation of these rocks. Characters and localities of main clay sorbents from the North Bohemian Brown Coal Basin are shortly evaluated in an introduction. In next part, methodology of mineralogy survey for these accessory raw materials is stated, it is based on diffract analyse with D 5000 Siemens X-ray diffracto-meter. At the conclusion results are stated of mineralogy analyses from several clay sorbents. The determination of the zeolite and montmorillonite localities was accentuated. The paper presents also possibilities of practical clay sorbents utilization, especially by reclamation works.

Coal plays an important role in the primary energy consumption of all over the world. In 2012, coal reached the highest share (29.9%) of global primary energy consumption since 1970. Coal burning mainly contributes to the emission of SO2, NOX, Hg and other impurities that jeopardize the future of environment. . Beneficiation before coal utilization is the most economical and effective technology for removing the hazardous material and gangue. In this paper, a novel process of dry beneficiation based on gas-solid two-phase flow composed of the compound dry cleaning separator (FGX), the air dense medium fluidized bed separator (ADMFB) and the vibrated fluidized bed with autogenous medium (VFB) is proposed. The main equipment and the flowsheet of the united system are described in detail. Separating principle of the FGX, ADMFB and VFB devices are all based on gas-solid two-phase flow. In FGX, gassolid suspension is composed of continuous gas flow and coal powder in feed coal. Large size coal (+6- 80mm) can be pre-separated effectively, and large size gangue can be removed effectively. Moreover, - 6mm particles fed serve as autogenous medium in FGX. The probable E value is 0.13 for -80 mm raw coal. In ADMFB, magnetic powder with -0.3 + 0.045 mm size fraction and coal powder in feed coal are compound medium solids. The separation density can be adjusted and controlled according to properties of raw coal. -50 + 6 mm raw coal can be cleaned efficiently, the probable E value is 0.05. In VFB, -6 + 1 mm coal can be separated. Generally, -80 mm raw coal can be cleaned efficiently in the united system based on gas-solid two-phase flow.

"The static and dynamic models for autogenous (AG) and semi-autogenous (SAG) mills have been studied for decades. Though the effects of mixing soft and hard ores in a mill and their interactions are not widely investigated. To develop a general numerical model for AG/SAG mills, a dynamic model has been introduced, and its capability to simulate multi component ore breakage has been examined and compared with previous publications. The simulation results show that the dynamic model can cover a range of milling conditions and is able to simulate complex scenarios with soft and hard ores. The dynamic model discussed here could provide substantial potential for the controlling and optimization of the comminution circuits. INTRODUCTION In the last decades, efforts have been devoted to studying the comminution circuit due to their high energy consumption. The energy directly spent in minerals comminution was about 2% globally in the year 2000 (Maurice et al, 2003). As one important part of the comminution process, AG/SAG mills are widely used for primary grinding in minerals processing. AG/SAG mill models include static and dynamic models (Kojovic et al, 2012; Yu et al, 2014; Yu et al, 2017; Liu and Spencer, 2004; Salazar et al, 2009). Many static models have been well validated over the past decades, but they are all based on steady state assumptions. Even though plants experience a steady-state condition under certain circumstances, it can be inaccurate to simulate the system by static models under all circumstances (Asbjörnsson et al, 2013). The advantages of a dynamic model are apparent that it provides more information and insights both inside the mill and through interactions with other machines in terms of pebble crushers, conveyor belts, screens and so on. In many mines, the multi-component grinding is inevitable, and the ratio of hard and soft components in the mill strongly affects mills operation and performance. Bueno (Bueno et al, 2010; Bueno et al, 2013) studied the effects of blending hard and soft ores in AG/SAG mills and used them to update the JKSimMet toolkit which was a steady state plant simulation software. However, due to the complexity of the particle interactions such as multi-component breakage function, appearance function, in mill transportation, there has been no dynamic AG/SAG mill models developed yet for simulating multi-component."

Mineral processing is characterized by a constant adaptation to changing raw materials and market conditions. It is the link between the mined raw material and a marketable product. As a lot of high grade reserves are exploited, a steady deterioration of raw material quality can be observed. At the same time, the customers´ requirements for product purity and consistent quality increase. Indian iron ores are characteristically friable in nature that results in generation of sizeable quantity of fines (0-10mm) every year during various stages of mining and processing in the country with grade varying from 50-60% Fe(T) and are high in silica/alumina (Al2O3 5-8%). The fines generated cannot be directly used for iron making (blast furnace/DRI units) in the country due its physical and chemical properties; therefore, large portion of it gets exported or dumped. Value addition to iron ore fines through various activities such as beneficiation & palletization is the need of the hour, which will not only be economically beneficial to the mining sector in the long run but also generate value addition & employment opportunities. Incentives may be given for adopting latest technologies for direct use of fines in iron making by agglomeration of fines in the form of Pellets and Sinters, as fines forms considerable part of iron ore resources. Due to selective mining, although the iron content of the ore is high but the alumina(Al2O3) content in iron ore is also significantly high which demands for beneficiation as high alumina will create problem during iron making like higher fuel consumption, poor quality of slag produced, reduced productivity of B.F. all mineral has been engaged in hematite iron ore beneficiation with its gravity and magnetic separators since the mid-nineties. The delivery of jigs started for the upgrading of iron ore for its utilization in a Direct Reduction Plant in Australia. Since then, various other installations with jigs for lumps and fines as well as upstream separators for fines are in operation in Brazil, Australia, India and South Africa. Low grade run of mine and/or dump ores are being processed with alljig®-, allflux®- and gaustec®-WHIMS as the core equipment. The article describes the technology in use, the characteristics of various iron ores and the product qualities achieved. The data presented shows the specific advantages of jig application on iron ore upgrading due to the possible high gravity cuts and the easy and low cost operation. The allflux®- technology provides the big advantage of high capacities and a two-step process, both in a single unit. The gaustec®-wet high intensity magnetic separators offer high capacity in combination with unsurpassed process flexibility. "The purpose of the research is to monitor ball mill filling by means of signals usually measured in its electrical drive. The method is based on the mill torque estimated from rotor speed and induction motor stator voltage and currents. New signal processing is presented in both time and frequency domain for measurements in a dry laboratory ball mill. Statistical analysis is applied to time series resulting in good correlation to mill filling. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and power spectral density (PSD) also resulted in an accurate filling indicator. The proposed method does not need any sensor to be installed directly on the mill and requires only sensors usually available for motor control purposes. The experimental results showed that the method have potential to be used to construct an automatic system for monitoring operational variables in ball mills. The aim of this monitoring is to improve energy efficiency, reliability and productivity.INTRODUCTION Recently, a great number of papers have pointed the importance of ball mill filling monitoring and also of grinding control (Lu, et al., 2014) (Ramasamy, et al., 2005) (Tsamatsoulis, 2014) (Zhou, et al., 2009). Additionally, great amount of control techniques have also been presented with several complexity degrees (Tsamatsoulis, 2014). According to Eremenko (2015) the lack of effective and accurate methods for fill level measurement is the main reason that makes mill optimal control so complicated. It happens because nonlinearity, long time delay and time varying features of the ball mill turns difficult to develop a truly efficient method for monitoring filling. At the same time, fill level has a determining role in charge motion and consequently on particle breakage. For low levels of filling many energy is expended in impacts with very low breakage efficiency. Those impacts can also damage mill liner. In contrast, high levels of filling causes damping effects that reduces breakage and can also affect energy consumption. Based on this it is conclusive that fill level measurement of ball mills is an important issue for grinding efficiency. This fill level information can be used for operators to control ball mills and also for engineers to run simulations and improve confidence levels of circuit designs (Shi, 2016)."

The present work aimed to verify the possibility of using froth flotation to separate the constitu-ent minerals of an alaskite rock waste having as the main minerals quartz and feldspar. Three stages of tests have been carried through. In the first stage was used an amphoteric collector for flotation, diaminedioleate, at pH 2 and, after analyzing the final products, a very poor selectivity was ob-served. During the second stage of tests, different collectors that are normally used for feldspar flo-tation as amines, sulfonates and soybean oil were employed. Once more, it was not possible to reach reasonably selective results. In the third stage, a salt of etheramine was used for collecting the feldspar and hydrofluoric acid was utilized for controlling the pH. A simulation of three flotation steps (rougher, cleaner and recleaner) permitted to attain a good selectivity in the flotation process. A concentrate with a silica content of 96.6% was obtained. The low concentrate content of alkalis totalizing 0.52% and a feldspar recovery of 96.5% to the tailings, represented by the high content of Na, K, and Al2O3 in the tailings, demonstrated that the concentrate was made up mostly of quartz.

In this paper, the hydrophobicity of chalcopyrite particles produced with different laboratory mills has been studied; different grinding mechanism in themills made some changes in particles shape, Image Analysis (IA) method was used to determine the shape properties of chalcopyrite particles which are ground by a laboratory ball mill, rod mill and ceramic ball mill. The shape characters are stated in terms of shape factors such as circularity, convexity, roundness and regularity factor. Hallimond tube was used to float chalcopyrite particles followed by determination of critical surface tension of particles, this parameter used as a criterion to study the wetting behavior of chalcopyrite particles. The correlation between shape properties and critical surface tension of chalcopyrite particles showed that the hydrophobicity of chalcopyrite was affected by the shape. Investigations showed that the circular, round and more convex particles that produced with ceramic ball mill had lower hydrophobicity with higher critical surface tension (?c). The results also showed that the hydrophobicity of particles ground by ball and rod mills increased with the decrease of roundness, circularity, convexity and regularity factor of particles. "With the increasing depletion of high-grade ore deposits, smarter mineral processing solutions are required to achieve sustainable and economic methods for mining and processing low-grade deposits. In order to make the treatment of low-grade deposits economically viable, large quantities of rock need to be mined and processed. The associated infrastructure costs (power, water supply, accommodation and support services, waste storage) result in a substantial penalty on the project, from both capital and operating cost perspectives. As a consequence, the challenge for the mining industry is to overcome the associated rise in energy and water consumption as well as increased project complexity when processing large amounts of low grade ore. Ore sorting technologies have been used for many years, predominantly on small projects, enabling the upgrade of marginal ores. Several sorting methods based on characteristics including specific gravity, radiometry, colour, particle size, grade and other detectable physical characteristics have been employed. The challenge for large low-grade ore bodies is to crush and sort at coarser rock size in order to minimise specific energy consumption in comminution and to reduce waste disposal costs. For large projects, the understanding of the economic impact of ore sorting is limited. The economic drivers include plant head grade improvement; sorting infrastructure capital, operating and maintenance costs; waste material handling and other environmental costs related to waste disposal. This paper analyses the economic impact of ore sorting in a large mineral processing operation. The focus of the analysis is to compare NPVs for a circuit including screening and ore sorting stages. A project for processing an Australian copper sulphide ore is considered as an example for this study."
