THE potential oil-and gas-bearing area with "which this paper deals is the large undefined Carboniferous basin, roughly triangular in shape, occupying about 10,000 square miles of southern and eastern New Brunswick. Its base, about 135 miles long, lies on the gulf of St. Lawrence and embraces the whole eastern coast-line of the Province, while its apex lies in the south-west corner of the Province, near the International boundary (see map, Figure 1). The Carboniferous basin may be divided roughly into two areas-the Northern basin and the Southern basin-by a structural feature represented by a ridge of low hills running north-easterly from the Saint John river, near Saint John, on the southwest, to Indian mountain, about eight miles north of Moncton, in the northeast. Within the Northern basin, all evidence regarding the presence or attitude of the older Mississippian Albert Shale series, the only oil-bearing rocks known in New Brunswick, is for the greater part obscured by a thick and practically horizontal blanket of Pennsylvanian strata and, although evidences of oil and gas have been reported, none has been positively identified. Five parallellines of gentle folding, running to the northeast, occur in the Pennsylvanian rocks, within a distance of 100 miles from north to south. This folding is reflected in the courses of the rivers, which lie within the synclines. The relationship of the folding in the younger rocks to structures in the uncomfortably underlying older rocks is unknown, but should now be possible of clarification by means of a geophysical survey accompanied by drilling. Independent geological examinations have yielded no evidence of value in this respect, nor have five exploratory boreholes drilled by per-cussion tools to a maximum depth of 3,645 feet been of assistance, as only one inconclusive hole completely traversed the beds which normally overlie the Albert shales.

"Separation Technologies, LLC (ST) has developed a processing system based on triboelectric charging and electrostatic separation that provides the mineral processing industry a means to beneficiate fine materials with an entirely dry technology. In contrast to the other available electrostatic separation processes that are typically limited to particles greater than 75 µm in size, the ST belt separator is ideally suited for separation of very fine (<1 µm) to moderately coarse (500 µm) materials with very high throughputs.. The technology has been also successfully applied to the beneficiation of a variety of minerals including calcium carbonates, talc, and potash. TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEWThe ST separator utilizes electrical charge differences between materials produced by surface contact or triboelectric charging. When two materials are in contact, material with a higher affinity for electrons gains electrons and thus charges negative, while material with lower electron affinity charges positive. This contact exchange of charge is universally observed for all materials, at times causing electrostatic nuisances that are a problem in some industries. Electron affinity is dependent on the chemical composition of the particle surface and will result in substantial differential charging of materials in a mixture of discrete particles of different composition.In the ST separator (Figures 1 and 2), material is fed into the thin gap 0.9 – 1.5 cm (0.35 -0.6 in.) between two parallel planar electrodes. The particles are triboelectrically charged by interparticle contact. For example, in the case of coal combustion fly ash, a mixture of carbon particles and mineral particles, the positively charged carbon and the negatively charged mineral are attracted to opposite electrodes. The particles are then swept up by a continuous moving open-mesh belt and conveyed in opposite directions. The belt moves the particles adjacent to each electrode toward opposite ends of the separator. The electric field need only move the particles a tiny fraction of a centimeter to move a particle from a left-moving to a right-moving stream. The counter current flow of the separating particles and continual triboelectric charging by carbon-mineral collisions provides for a multistage separation and results in excellent purity and recovery in a single-pass unit. The high belt speed also enables very high throughputs, up to 40 tonnes per hour on a single separator. By controlling various process parameters, such as belt speed, feed point, electrode gap and feed rate, the ST process produces low carbon fly ash at carbon contents of 2 % ± 0.5% from feed fly ashes ranging in carbon from 4% to over 30%."

THE most useful guide to the role of lime in flotation is the view that the chemistry of any flotation operation is primarily a pattern in relative solubilities. We have the coming together of a number of minerals, reagents, fortuitous salts, water, and oxygen, many of which have not been previously in contact with each other, and every one of which is free, at least to some extent, to abandon old alliances and to form new ones. Of one thing the operator may be sure, and that is that, when equilibrium has been reached, those new chemical combinations will have formed which are the least soluble combinations possible to the environment. The laws of solution govern the operation, which means that relative concentrations are always a factor, and temperature frequently is. What the operator is really doing when he chooses his reagents .in the first place (empirically or otherwise) and works out their? optimum amounts, is to provide an environment in which (1) the least soluble possible compound of the mineral he desires to float is one which is also non-wettable, while at the same time (2) the least soluble compounds possible to the minerals he desires to depress are wettable. Since all metathesis is reversible, perfection is impossible to achieve, and the operator is constantly striving to establish that combination of concentrations which will drive each and every particular reaction as far as possible in the direction he desires it to go, in accordance with the law of molar concentration.

"Coniaurum Mines, Limited, hold nineteen claims in Tisdale township, in the Porcupine district, adjoining the McIntyre mine on the east. They extend for over a mile along the strike of the Hollinger-McIntyre 'break'. The property has been explored extensively along the ore zone both laterally and vertically. Workings have been carried to a depth of 5,500 feet, and nearly 50 miles of lateral workings (drifting and cross-cutting) have been driven to date in development and in gaining access to the orebodies.Production started at the Coniaurum in June 1928 and has continued without interruption. As mines grow deeper, the problem of ground control becomes one of increasing importance. The literature on the subject has grown extensively in the past few years, but is still far from conclusive. Detailed and precise observations are on record covering most phases of the problem, and control measures have progressed to the point where, in a large measure, they are effective. The success of methods to date must be attributed to the efforts which have been exerted to reduce convergence of stope walls and to the realization that a regular progression of stope faces approaching longwall has a beneficial effect. This paper attempts to explain the relationship between these two factors and the general problem of ground control. The problem at present lacks the co-ordination of the practical with the scientific outlook, but fortunately as time goes on there are indications that our scientific friends are becoming more interested and more familiar with the practical issues involved. Opinions vary widely regarding the mechanism of the problem and there are several schools of thought, two only of which will be discussed. One associates the incidence of rock-bursts with the stresses built up by a sagging hanging-wall, while the other takes the view that stresses primarily responsible for the sagging hanging-wall are also the cause of rock-bursts. The first group starts its reasoning from the convergence of the walls, probably the most conspicuous feature of deep mining, and works back to the conclusion that rock-bursts are in sorne way due to the breaking up of the sagging layers. The second group begins with the stress zone apparent around excavations at depth and follows mathematical conceptions based on certain assumptions which, in the absolute sense, are known to be inaccurate, but which are justified by the similarity between the conclusions reached and the results obtained in practice. This reasoning is followed to the point where rock-bursts result from the failure, under stress, of rock in situ, quite independent of wall convergence.

"Corrosion monitoring is commonly used in a variety of industries as a means of effective corrosion control programs to extend the life of the asset and ensure safe operation of the facilities. The majority of the monitoring tools have limitations and tradeoffs – e.g., sacrificing the longevity of the probe for higher measurement resolution. Linear polarization resistance (LPR) probes have the advantage of providing the operator with accurate, real-time corrosion rate data; however, the probes can only be deployed in conditions where the measured environment possesses certain minimal conductivity. In many instances, utilization of LPR probes in conditions with intermittent wetting (for example, conditions where the temperature fluctuates above and below the dew point) presents a challenge. To address this limitation, a special-design cooled corrosion probe has been developed, commercialized and integrated into the distributed control system in the plants. In addition to high-accuracy measurement of corrosion rates, the probe allows for monitoring of pitting corrosion. The most innovative feature of the probe is the cooling circuit, which brings the temperature of the sensors below the dew point, forcing precipitation of moisture and thus permitting corrosion measurements. Additionally, the probe was found to be well-suited for monitoring corrosion in crude distillation unit (CDU) overhead space, where condensation of hydrochloric acid may take place at relatively high temperatures, which would require relatively moderate amount of cooling to be imparted to the probe sensors. This paper presents laboratory-based data from a test simulating CDU refinery environment. A case study is presented to demonstrate how the cooling probe can be effectively used in the plants for corrosion monitoring.INTRODUCTIONConventional corrosion-monitoring techniques such as weight-loss coupons to assess corrosion damage are commonly used in plants1. However, the use of coupons is not only labor-intensive, but also does not deliver real-time corrosion data, thus effectively serving as a “backwards-looking” monitoring tool. A review of technical literature covering Canadian mining emphasizes the advancement and changes that have been made in mining practice. However, current technical publications rarely outline basic principles or state definite rules that govern profitable mine operation. it may be argued that the broad principles of mining have long a go been outlined in various handbooks, text-books, and periodicals, and that these principles never alter. This is in great part true, but modern machinery, improved meta1-lurgical practice, and other advances, have in part modified these principles or changed the manner of their application. Many engineers hesitate to state specific rules, because it is so easy to quote an exception to a rules that any such statement appears to lose weight upon its very utterance. The exception to rules, and the reluctance to formulate rules, has forced such maxims as "the only rule in mining is the point of a pick," and "gold is where you find it". As an illustration of rules and their exceptions, one might quote the time-honoured maxim that a mill should not be built before a shaft has been sunk on a property in point of fact, Canadian mining history is replete with examples of wasted capital where a mill was built before a shaft had been bottomed. Y et this past year has seen a property enter profitable production whereon the building of the mill was started before the shaft was sunk. Instances such as this should not be accepted as evidence that a rule has been overthrown, but rather as an exception to the rule. The case cited pays tribute to the application of the diamond-drill combined with the correlation of sound geology. Incidentally, both these features emphasize a modern trend in the development of Canadian mining properties-a trend that is perhaps worthy of further comment. It is such trends that affect the principles of mining or modify their application. It is with such that this paper deals, at ]east in part. It is hoped that the statement of principles and the opinions herein outlined will be of sufficient interest to arouse discussion.

"The oil sands resources in Canada are one of the world’s largest hydrocarbon deposits. Processing of oil sands uses hot water to extract bitumen. The process generates tailings slurry that must be settled for final deposition. The tailings contain fine material, with poor water release characteristics which makes water recovery challenging. Polymer flocculants are added to assist in settling and dewatering the fine tailings. The amount of polymer addition is dependent on tailings characteristics, including the particle size distribution (PSD). If the PSD of the tailings is unknown, an excess amount of polymer needs to be added in the dewatering stage to flocculate the particles. Over flocculation also has a detrimental effect on the water release characteristics. Measuring the particle size distribution using an on-line analyzer could have major benefits over common laboratory methods as it provides online and fast insight into the process enabling the operators to implement required changes to minimize the reagent consumption, while achieving optimal flocculation. Online measurement of PSD using laser diffraction has long been used in base metals beneficiation processes. A series of test work using Outotec PSI500® particle size analyzer on oil sands samples from different operations have been conducted. Tests were performed by recirculating the slurry in closed circuit to simulate real plant conditions. This paper presents a summary of the results.INTRODUCTION Canada’s oil sands are the third largest reserves of crude oil in the world, with an estimated 165.4 billion barrels of recoverable oil (Government of Alberta 2016). Oil sands are a mixture of sand, water, clay and bitumen. Bitumen is a form of oil that is too heavy or thick to flow or be pumped without being diluted or heated. About 20% of bitumen reserves are close enough to surface to be mined. In mining methods, oil sand is transported from an open pit mine to the processing plant and bitumen is separated from solids and water. The separation process involves ore preparation, such as addition of hot water, steam and caustic (NaOH), followed by gravity separation and froth treatment (Masliyah et al. 2004). A general scheme of the extraction process is presented in Figure 1."

"Since the most of mineral processing are wet, and for more specific applications where it is necessary to increase the purity through leaching and / or concentration, the proper dispersion is the first, and perhaps more crucial stage in the whole chain of processing. This specific process is based on the formation of a dispersion or suspension of mineral, trying to make the mixture as homogeneous as possible, and with specific rheological conditions. Sometimes it is not enough agitation to make it happen, so that chemical additives are used as an aid. However, the addition of chemicals strongly alters the viscosity and other rheological properties of the suspension factor to consider for subsequent steps to ore beneficiation. In other hand, in a process where no chemicals used often employ large quantities of water to achieve dispersion. But if an efficient chemical agent, which optimizes said dispersion through a specific physicochemical effect on the particle surface is used, also it can generate rheological advantages, besides achieving rational use of water and increase the recoveries of the product main about also optimal costs. The aim of this work is to find the optimal rheological conditions for a dispersion of kaolin as study case, looking for stability, best disaggregation, viscosity and pseudoplasticity.To find the optimal additive, the evaluation parameters were: 1) Best degree of dispersion of the suspensions according to the analysis of the flow curve; 2) Best level of disaggregation of particle chemical analysis delaminated by Particle Size Distribution; and 3) Best thixotropic rheological parameters and pseudoplasticity. Finally the optimum additive as one that meets the best combination of parameters is proposed.INTRODUCTIONKaolin is a clay material formed by altering of feldspar composed mainly for kaolinite. Depending on the application, the kaolin as raw material must be refined and processed because the ores of clays contain usually a lot of impurities derived of its sedimentary source, such as feldspar, mica and quartz (Torres, et. al., 2011). According to the experience on the plant floor and the publication of several scientific papers, it is known that the dispersion is a crucial stage in mineral processing (Greene, Duke, & Hunter, 1965) (Raghavan, et. al., 2004), not only because of the disaggregation of particles, besides because of the humectation of them. Is clear that disaggregation of particles give to the suspensions rheological stability, and the humectation improves the effect of further processes like grinding or chemical treatment. The dispersion process involves making a suspension of the mineral with a solvent which is usually water, to obtain a homogeneous dispersion, with the aid of energy of stirring. Sometimes is not enough the agitation (even with high energy) for this to occur, so is necessary the use of dispersing substances which introduce ions and molecules as modifiers of chemical potential, forcing the molecules of the material to disperse. Sometimes their use even could affect the pH of the suspension in a non-desirable condition. (Flores, 2013)."

"Rare earth elements are becoming increasingly in demand, due to their prevalence in both renewable energy devices and high-end electronics. The characterization of the composition, morphology and volume fraction of the various phases that have valuable rare earths in the ores are needed to find the optimal industrial process to extract the ores containing the rare earths. Rare earth-bearing minerals contain many elements with the M-and L-lines overlap, requiring a high degree of resolution, pushing the boundaries of scanning electron microscopy quantitative analysis. Enhanced microscopy at a high spatial resolution with improved x-ray quantitative analysis enables the accurate determination of the distribution of the desired rare earths in various mineral phases. INTRODUCTIONRare earth elements are becoming increasingly in demand, due to their prevalence in both renewable energy devices and high-end electronics. From batteries (lanthanum and cerium), to magnets (dysprosium and neodymium) and lighting (yttrium), the rare earth elements are crucial to the advancement of technology, and to energy saving devices (Crow, 2011). The goal of this project is to characterize the composition, morphology and volume fraction of the various phases that have valuable rare earths in the ores in order to estimate the economical VALUES (of the ores and to find the optimal industrial process to extract the ores containing the rare earths. High spatial resolution imaging and x-ray microanalysis are needed to reach this goal. In this work, the results obtained with a cold-field-emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and a silicon drift detector (SDD) energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) detector at low accelerating voltage are compared to experimental conditions typically used with electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) instrument.With this improvement, a detailed scientific analysis of the composition of these, and other, ores will become possible with a SEM/EDS system. This will help to better understand how such ores were formed, hence assisting in finding them, and to better understand how to process them in preparation for high end industrial applications, namely through mineral processing."

"Gallium oxide is an important semiconductor material used in optoelectronic devices (flat panel and solar cell) catalysts and sensors. One of the methods to produce ?-Ga2O3 is the so-called hydrothermal route. It is practiced by Neo Gallium Compounds and comprises of two steps: (1) the production of mainly gallium-oxy-hydroxide in a pressure vessel by reacting metallic gallium with water at 200-220 ºC and (2) the calcination of gallium-oxy-hydroxide at 700-750 ºC to convert it into ?-Ga2O3. This paper describes this pressure hydrometallurgy process supported with relevant thermodynamic data and presents the characteristics of the ?-Ga2O3 powder produced for commercial purposes. INTRODUCTIONGallium is a relatively new metal, having been predicted by D. Mendeleev in 1871, discovered by P.E. Lecoq de Boisbaudran in 1875, and first commercially produced in the USA in 1943. Gallium is not rare, being more abundant in the earth crust than antimony, bismuth, molybdenum, silver and tungsten. However, few gallium minerals exist in nature, and the dispersion of gallium within other minerals add to the complexity of its recovery. In practice, gallium is found in dispersed state primarily in bauxites and in some sphalerites, and, to a much smaller extent, in some coals. At present, a very large proportion of the primary gallium in the world is recovered as a by-product of aluminum plants, mostly Bayer plants, where gallium is extracted from a bleed of the Bayer liquor (Roskill, 2011). In 2011, world production of primary gallium was estimated at 200 metric tonnes. In addition, there is a significant contribution of recycling to the overall yearly availability of the metal.Gallium exhibits fairly remarkable properties: it is liquid above 29.76 ºC, can be supercooled, and with its high boiling point (2204 ºC), is the metal with the widest liquid range. Gallium is magnetic, and is an excellent conductor of both heat and electricity. Gallium also displays a marked anisotropic electrical conductivity (Roskill, 2011). All these properties render gallium almost irreplaceable in the semiconductors (GaAs, GaN, GaSb, GaP wafers) and the optoelectronics industry (flat panel, solar cell)."

"THE YEAR 1959 appeared to be a good one in which to attempt a summary of progress in the location and study of sulphide deposits in Canada because a temporary surplus of metals caused prices to fall and many geologists who had been working like beavers were suddenly not so hard pressed. So it was •decided to arrange a Symposium. The response to the call for contributions was excellent and the result is the interesting collection of papers that follow.Activity in the search for massive sulphide deposits has never been as intense as in Canada since 1954. That was the year when the airborne electro-magnetometer first became generally available on a contract basis. These instruments work best on massive sulphide bodies, as do most of the ground electrical survey devices, so much of the new information relates to these. It was decided, therefore, to focus attention in the preparation of symposium papers on such masses. This served also to keep the survey within reasonable limits."

"The Kirkland Lake-Larder Lake gold area is in northeastern Ontario and is a continuation of the ore-bearing belt that extends across northwestern Quebec through the Rouyn, Cadillac, Malartic, and Bourlamaque areas. It is the oldest mining camp along this famous mineral belt. Gold discoveries were first made at Larder Lake and Swastika in 1906, but it was not until 1913 that important developments at Kirkland Lake created a real interest in the country. Total gold production of the camp passed the million dollar a year mark in 1920 and increased in amount yearly until the advent of the second World War when there was a falling off due to labour shortage. The Kirkland-Larder camp ranks as the second largest gold producing area ' in Ontario. To the end of 1944, twenty-two mines in the area had produced bullion valued at $515,631,428 and ten mines had distributed dividends amounting to $205,981,116. The average grade of the ore milled in this period has been $15.17 a ton for the mines in the Kirkland Lake area and $6.49 a ton for the mines at Larder Lake.ROCK FORMATIONS OF THE AREAIn a general way the rocks of the country may be divided into the lithological groups indicated on the accompanying geological sketch map. This map has been compiled largely from recently issued geological sheets of the Geological Branch of the Ontario Department of Minest. Owing to the present difficulty of separating the formations of the Larder Lake country into the twofold age divisions of Keewatin and Timiskaming, the usual custom in the past, a lithological grouping of formations has been adopted. The age terms 'Keewatin and 'Timiskaming' are loosely used in this article to express the often used but not necessarily accurate distinction between the main groups of older strata."

Shaft sinking through solid rock, which contains little or no water, poses little difficulty. However, when loose, water-bearing strata have to be contended with, water control measures, and pumping facilities are needed. Shaft sinking in Athabasca Basin requires sinking through water bearing sandstone which can be highly fractured. Intersection of local zones of extensive fracturing results in the potential for high water inflows with pressures up to 5 Mpa. Grouting is carried out ahead of each shaft sinking interval as water control strategy. In the grouting method, liquid cement is forced into the water-bearing earth under very high pressure. Shaft sinking performance which can be quantified in terms of rate of advance is highly dependent on the days spent at each interval grouting before sinking can advance to the next interval. This paper presents the shaft sinking experience in Athabasca basin and how some of this is translated into Geoscientific Investigations for Future Shafts. A comparison of Geoscientific data collected from future shafts at McArthur River and Millennium Mines is compared to historical data collected from pilot holes, where shafts have already been sunk. The paper concludes with the strategies for better integration of hydrogeological, geotechnical and geophysical data.

The increasing need to process lower grade contaminated copper concentrates and simultaneously produce higher purity copper cathodes necessitates a more diligent control in the electrorefining process. Ion exchange processes can be a powerful tool in controlling electrolyte impurities to ensure trouble free operation within the tankhouse and to help maintain cathode purity. In addition, some impurities can be recovered as a value added product. The use of a short bed ion exchange process provides a unique opportunity for impurity management in copper refineries. Several metals are discussed in this paper, including Sb, Bi, As and Ni and their methods of control and recovery within the copper electrolyte circuit. INTRODUCTION To produce a high purity copper product by electro-refining a copper electrolyte, it is important to control the concentration of impurities such as arsenic (As), bismuth (Bi), antimony (Sb), and nickel (Ni). These impurities are introduced into the electrolyte from the copper anode and can affect the copper product and the production operation. The presence of As in the copper product results in a lower electric conductivity and reduced workability of the copper. High levels of Bi in the electrolyte will result in a copper cathode product containing Bi. High Sb concentration will cause undesired floating slimes. A variety of methods have been developed to control the level of these impurities in the copper electrolyte including precipitation, liquid extraction, and ion exchange. These impurities can be recovered and used. This paper discusses novel methods that utilize short bed ion exchange technology to control these impurities. Also, the use of ion exchange to recover acid from the liberator cells bleed for reuse in the tankhouse is reviewed. SHORT BED ION EXCHANGE Short bed ion exchange technology has been employed extensively in the metal finishing industries for over forty years. Unlike conventional ion exchange, short beds are fixed beds without freeboard space. The application of short bed technology results in significant benefits when compared to conventional ion exchange. The resin used in this technology has a significantly smaller diameter than conventional ion exchange resin. As a result of the smaller resin size, exchange kinetics improves dramatically. This facilitates operation at higher flow rates and the use of smaller beds with a small mass transfer zone length. Smaller beds are especially important for applications that use chelating resins due to the high cost of the resin.

In. East Kootenay, two Companies are operating, the Crow&apos;s Nest Pass Coal Company of Fernie, with mines at Coal Creek and Michel, and the Corbin Coal and Coke Company, of Corbin and Spokane. Wash., with mines at Corbin. The Crow&apos;s Nest Pass Coal Company has also coke-ovens of the bee-hive type at Fernie and Michel. The mines have a productive capacity, with present development and plant, of approximately 1,500,000 tons of coal, and of 300,000 tons of coke annually. The total production in 1923 was 828, 990 tons of coal and 65.990 tons of coke. In the early years of operation, the mines furnished a very large percentage of their output to the railways and smelters. These were, in fact, the primary markets for which the mines were opened and the ovens constructed. The Great Northern Railway had built into Femie, and later extending its line to Michel, became a heavy consumer of both of these mines. The Spokane International, connecting the Crow&apos;s Nest branch of the C.P .R. with Spokane, furnished tonnage to Corbin. The Canadian Pacific Railway bought for Crow&apos;s Nest consumption. The smelters at Grand Forks and Trail in the Boundary country were large and steady consumers of coke, while in-termittently Northport, Butte, Helena, and Great Falls shared in the product of the ovens.

Recent analysis has suggested that a balanced recovery profile can improve flotation bank performance. Test work was conducted to test the balanced profile concept at the Penhorwood talc mine near Timmins, Ontario, Canada. Plant trials were devised to determine how to control the recovery profile and the resultant impact on grade and recovery in a rougher bank of four cells. Accompanying gas dispersion measurements revealed a maintenance issue with one cell that was corrected. By manipulating air and frother addition it was possible to bring the bank closer to a balanced recovery profile and the down-the-bank grade/recovery improved. Plant production showed an increased talc grade at similar yield with the balanced profile. The results provide justification for a long term plant trial.

The Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan and Alberta is an exceptionally rich metallogenic region, hosting more than 2.8 B lb U3O8, of which over 927 M lb U3O8 have been mined out since extraction first started in the late 1970’s. A detailed compilation of several empirical features of 85 deposits located within the basin was conducted in order to understand the distribution and variability of the geological characteristics of the mineralization and its associated alteration. A new empirical classification was devised based on four parameters: 1) geometry of the mineralization (dimensions and relation to the unconformity surface), 2) size, grade and metallurgical complexity of the mineralization, 3) lithostructural setting, and 4) extent and nature of associated alteration haloes. This compilation defines the footprint characteristics of the Athabasca Basin deposits, which guides decision-making processes from early exploration and discovery to resource expansion and extraction.

Ore-Testing laboratories are maintained by the Mines Branch, Department of Mines, at Ottawa for the purpose of conducting experimental test and research on ore treatment. Sample shipments of a few hundred pounds to car-load lots of Canadian ores are received on application for experimental tests, and all possible methods of treatment are investigated. Reports are issued to the shipper, containing the results, with recommendations as to the most economical method of treatment. These reports have been of valuable assistance to mining companies in the preparation of plans for the design and equipment of their treatment plants. Investigations have been conducted on ores and metallurgical products from all parts of the Dominion. The ores from practically every producing mine and important mineral occurrence have been investigated in these laboratories.
