"Interest in the recovery of cyanide from gold and silver plant tailings has heightened in recent years. This interest has been spurred by several factors:Increasingly stringent regulations throughout the gold producing world, governing discharge limits for free and total cyanide to tailings ponds and the environment.The increasing cost of active chemical treatment versus passive (natural degradation) treatment of tailing, to bring them in line with environmental regulations.The worldwide trend to processing of more complex gold ore bodies, which is usually accompanied by higher levels of cyanide consumptions and greater concentrations of cyanide (particularly the copper cyanide complex) in tailings.The growing negative perception of the general public for the gold mining industry, due to several highly publicized cyanide spills in recent years (breaches of tailings dams, accidents involving trucks carrying cyanide to gold plants, etc.).The ability to recover cyanide from gold plant tailings has been known almost as long as the cyanidation process has been practiced, but there has been little incentive to process tailings in this way in the past. With the development of technologies that make it possible to recover and recycle free or complexed cyanide directly from gold plant slurry tailings, which indicates, on paper at least, the potential for significant cost savings compared to cyanide destruction, coupled with the introduction of legislation to seriously limit the discharge of cyanide to the environment in most gold-producing regions of the world, many companies are evaluating the cyanide-recovery alternative."

"Although heap leaching may be perceived as a somewhat low-tech route for the extraction of low-grade minerals, the underlying physical, chemical and biological processes are in fact extremely complex. There has been increased interest in heap leaching of sulphide minerals in recent years with the advent of controlled bio-heap leaching, and the need to mine more marginal ore deposits.A detailed investigation into the dynamics of heap leach processes has provided much insight into the underlying complexities, and has led to the development of a sophisticated modelling tool, HeapSim. Some of the sub-processes that are modelled include mineral kinetics, particle size effects, bacterial growth, oxidation and adsorption, gas adsorption, pore diffusion, bulk advection, gas balance and heat conservation. The interplay of these various sub-processes is illustrated in the paper.Two case studies are presented which illustrate specific features of the model for different applications and how these have helped to identify key areas of concern. The first is focussed on chalcocite heap bioleaching, which shows that by nature of the reaction the process is strongly dependent on the initial supply of acid to the mineral site. In heaps this acid supply can be severely limited by the rate of diffusion from channels of flowing solution into stagnant zones of the heap, whereas in narrow-bore laboratory columns this effect is not observed."

"The most important metals in the jewelry sector are undoubtedly gold and silver. As a result of workmanship work done in the jewelry industry, the tiny metal and jewel fragments and metallic powders are scattered. Given the prices of gold and silver on the market, the dust that emanates from these workshops is of great importance. Gold recycling has become as important as raw material production within the mass market and gold production industry. In 2016, 29% of the world gold supply has been obtained through recycled gold production. Waste derived from jewelry activity is included in this category, and represents an essential component of this percentage. In the scope of this study, the recovery possibilities of Au and Ag from jewelry sweeps floor sample was investigated using flotation method. In the experiments, optimum pH value, particle size, the effect of dispersant, type and amount of reagent were investigated. As a result of these studies, it was determined that the optimum pH value was 6.5 and the particle size was -212 microns. It was observed that the most suitable reactive combination was Aero 242 and Aerophine 3418A and Na2SiO3 has no positive effect on recovery of Au and Ag as a dispersant agent. As a result of tests, a final concentrate containing 268 ppm Au and 2122 ppm Ag was obtained with 81.4% and 74.5% recovery respectively. INTRODUCTION Because of the softness of pure gold, it is usually alloyed with base metals for use in jewelry, altering its hardness and ductility, melting point, color and other properties. On the other hand, gold has some special chemical properties which in normal conditions, don’t react with water, dry or humid air, oxygen, ozone, nitrogen, hydrogen, fluorine, iodine, sulfur and hydrogen. In these days, gold is used in different sectors like jewelry, electronics, finances and investing, dentistry, medicine, aerospace, awards & status symbols. According to Deutsche Bank Research, the primary usage of gold is jewelry. It has been used to make ornament and jewelry for thousands of years. In this sector craftsmen learned that alloying gold with other metals like copper, platinum and silver to increase gold’s durability. Alloying gold with other metals changes the color of the products. Another significant sector of gold is electronics. Modern electronics want the use of noble metals, like gold, especially in the areas of information processing, telecommunications, and military and space electronics (Habashi, 1997). Electronic devices use very low voltages and currents which are easily interrupted by corrosion or tarnish at the contact points. Gold is the highly efficient conductor that can carry these tiny currents and remain free of corrosion. Electronic components made with gold are highly reliable. Gold is used in connectors, switch and relay contacts, soldered joints and connecting wires. Every sophisticated electronic device have a considerable amount of gold. This includes cell phones, calculators, personal digital assistants, GPS units, and other small electronic devices. Most large electronic appliances such as television sets also contain gold. Humankind has known silver since prehistoric times like gold because silver occurs in native form. The metal is found in the Earth's crust in the pure, free elemental form native, as an alloy with gold and other metals, and in mineral such as argentite. Most silver is produced as a byproduct of copper, gold, lead, and zinc refining. Silver is very soft metal like gold also, it is the highest electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and the lowest electrical contact resistance of all metals (Habashi, 1997). "Long before a modern mine commences operations it has already become a wealth of information. After start up, it can generate enormous quantities of data – especially with semi-automated data acquisition by instrumented mine equipment. Much of this data is of limited use for evaluation of (potential) performance unless it links in some way to the site business model.An underlying reason for this waste of data is that the different cultures, financial, technical, community, environmental, etc, not only have many areas of interest but also have very different conceptual models by which they evaluate performance.It is too ambitious to attempt to bring all of these cultures together – in a single step. However, the success of the Mine to Mill ™ project has demonstrated that substantial operational value can be added by using a more integrated approach to comminution. The next logical step is to integrate measured data and then to track performance from ore body model to saleable product and waste disposal.The path from resource to product also represents a path from very sparse, highly variable data to much more detailed measurement and more representative sampling. However, in both cases the data collected is usually strongly focused on the technical requirements – not on the business model.This paper emphasises the difference between data and information. There is considerable potential for confusion between the two as both data and information are often expressed as numbers. "Two areas are involved in the research work of the comminution process (crushing and grinding). The first one involves the changes of the size class distribution values that are definded by the differential equations in the function of the ore property and working conditions. The second area involves the comminution of the different levels in order to optimize the working parameters and to decrease the operational costs in the grinding process.We have studied, in detail, the possibility of functioning the crusher at the maximal loading, over 4500 kN, ball mills with diameters larger than 5.0 m and semiautogenous mills with diameters larger than 10.0 m.Using the computers, we have achieved the maximal loading range of the crusher, over Fc ? 4500 kN in the crushing process. In the grinding process, using the adequate differential equations in the automation process, we have established the correlation between the pulp mass capacity in the mill, pulp dencity, ore fineness in the pulp and recirculating ore charge.With the appopriate text, equations and graphs, this paper shows the results of our several years research work in the laboratory and in the ore comminution plant of Majdanpek Copper Mine."

Principles of ecologically friendly geo-technologies construction are formulated on the basis of the works of the leading scientists in the field of rational processing of mineral resources of the Russian Academy of Sciences. One of these concepts is a new direction in rotational disintegration of mineral and technogenic raw material with the purpose of effective subsequent enrichment. A large amount of practical experience has been accumulated in the industry on selective destruction by application of vibrational method on initial material with consideration of its physical-mechanical properties and mineral structure. This method is successfully realised in a conic inertial pulverisation devices constructed by Mekhanobr Institute (St.-Petersburg). A new construction of conical-inertial pulverisation with a modification of disintegration force has been developed recently at Mekhanobr Institute. It allows, in some cases, to increase selectivity of subdivision and to avoid over-disintegration. Advantages of “wet” subdivision methods in conic inertial disintegration devices are proved. The efficiency of such subdivision can be increased due to rational use of the phenomenon of a dislocation-dynamic diffusion. Its advantage is proved by the effect on disintegrated material by frequency-modulated variable electrical fields of low power. It was shown in industrial conditions, that the productivity of the spherical mill can be increased by 10 %, and that it also prevents ecologically harmful surface active substances (SAS) in milling zone and it reduces the dust content in the air. The techniques of tentative estimation of efficiency of various proceedings technogenic materials and their classification are created. The scientific fundaments of rational, ecologically friendly technology of processing and regeneration of various kinds of technogenic raw material are developed. A number of effective technologies on processing of wastes is developed and inculcated in concentration factories and metallurgical factories.

Bauxite is the main raw material in alumina and refractory industries. China has plentiful bauxite resources, most of which belong to the diaspore type bauxite with characteristics of high aluminum content, high silicon content and low ratio of alumina and silica (A/S). The resources with A/S 4-7 account for more than 60% of the total resource reserves of bauxite. Therefore improving the A/S through bauxite desilication is the key task of bauxite concentration in China. Normally the grinding fineness of 80-90% - 0.074mm is required in the bauxite flotation process. Thus fine grinding of bauxite ores is necessary, which leads to the high energy consumption. In the meanwhile, bauxite ores are easy to produce slime during grinding processes. The large amount of slime produced in fine grinding greatly worsens the process environment of bauxite flotation, affects the separation performance and results in the loss of metal. Also, fine grinding makes the flotation concentrate difficult to dewater, while the water content in the flotation concentrate must be removed by distillation in the subsequent alumina dissolution process, causing the increase of energy consumption and cost in the production of alumina. In this study, the selective grinding behaviors were examined with Henan Bauxite as feed. Separation of alumina and silica at a coarser grinding fineness was achieved and new route was explored to enhance the desilication in bauxite concentration to improve the A/S of bauxite concentrate.

"In this present paper, the authors introduce the artificial neural networks into the modeling of the industrial flotation process, integrating information technology, control theory and intelligent optimizing method to flotation technology. The new idea gives a new way to solve the difficulty in this field, and therefore brings the study on the automatic control of flotation process in China into a new start.The Radial Basis Function (RBF) network, featuring a quick learning speed, is one of the feedforward neural networks. It has attracted much attention from automatic control recently for its implementing the nonlinearity mapping through adjusting the parameters of the nonlinearity transfer function. One of the online adaptive learning algorithm—the nearest neighbor-clustering algorithm, which can automatically determine the number of hidden units, has been implemented in the MATLAB programming language in this paper, laying the foundation for the flotation models.The relation model between ore pulp characteristics and reagents consumption has been proposed using the RBF networks based on the industrial lead rougher flotation of lead & zinc ore, and the simulation has been conducted in the laboratory with the results matching the samples data very well. The Xilin Lead & Zinc Mine Flotation Process Intelligent Consultation System of Reagents Consumption, which suitable for industrial process, has been developed. The reagents consumption advised by this system would stabilize the flotation process, and increase the recoveries. It could be used for providing the technological consultation to flotation operators in site, and for training new operators."

"During 2000 Mintek Developed the PlantStar plant wide control platform for the minerals processing industry. The flexibility of the PlantStar control platform has enabled Mintek to investigate and easily develop new control strategies for both milling and flotation. This includes a Solids Feed Controller, a Safety Limit Controller, Mill Power Optimiser and Flotation Optimiser, amongst others.Processes with long dead times, like a feed belt to a mill, are difficult to control. The solids feed controller was developed for minerals processing plants using a specialised time delay compensator. Using conventional time delay compensators that are purely model based, results in robustness problems due to model uncertainties. The Mintek Solid Feeds Controller makes use of a plant model, but compensates for model inaccuracies, giving more controller stability and a more robust delay compensation algorithm.Often there are more variables on a plant that need to be controlled (process variables) than there are variables to control them with (manipulated variables). Process constraints are often reached and violated. Safety control loops are necessary to prevent constraints being reached. The safety limit controller has been developed to switch smoothly between normal and safety control loops without bumping the process. The safety loop output is chosen in accordance with a predefined list of priorities and whether the respective constraint boundaries are exceeded.The Mill Power Optimiser helps to find the power peak on the mill power curve. It continuously perturb the solids feed rate to learn ‘where’ on the curve the mill ‘was’ and then to drive it continuously toward the middle, maximum power drawn. This insures maximum grind with maximum throughput. It also prevents power dips due to mill overloads by cutting the solids feed to a minimum if the power drop below a specified threshold. Once the power rises above the threshold the solids feed is increased again to an intermediate value from where it start the perturbations again to find the maximum. This makes the milling circuit easier to operate."

"Resistivity measurements of minerals in the laboratory are commonly made with a low DC voltage source. Common test voltages specified in the ASTM Standard D257 are 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000, 10000 and 15000 V, however 100 and 500 V are the most frequently used. Resistivity results obtained in the laboratory have been used to infer the electrical behaviour of minerals undergoing electrostatic separation. However because the voltages employed in electrostatic separation in the plant are of the order of thousands of volts, typically greater than 15000 V, whether the laboratory results are applicable as a predictor of plant performance is a critical question. It is unclear whether resistivity values taken at a low voltage are characteristic of those seen in electrostatic separation, in which the minerals are exposed to a much higher voltage. No definitive answer could be found in the literature.In this work, the resistivities of zircon, rutile and ilmenite were measured in a corona field for the first time. The measurement principle was based on a technique developed to measure fly ash resistivity in electrostatic precipitators, however the test apparatus and findings are novel.Resistivities of rutile and zircon were found to be easy to measure. The values measured in a corona field were several orders of magnitude less than those obtained with a dc voltage of 100 V. Evidence of back corona was observed with zircon. When the voltage drop was greater than the sample layer could withstand a localised electrical stress developed, resulting in a voltage breakdown, at which point a sudden surge of corona current (back corona) was detected in the sample layer. Rutile, on the other hand, exposed to the same conditions as that of zircon (i.e. same temperature and applied voltage) did not exhibit any sign of back corona. Its resistivity across the range of test voltages (14 to 33 kV) remained fairly constant."

"Italy is one of the major producers of ceramics in the world. Ceramic production requires large quantities of K-feldspar, which is commonly sourced from granites, alkali-granites, and “granitic” sands. These rocks contain other minerals, such as quartz, plagioclase and mafic minerals, which are undesirable for ceramic production. Due to the coarse mineral grains that constitute these rocks, a reasonable liberation is achieved at a relatively coarse grind size.This paper reports a study conducted on the separation of K-feldspar from quartz, plagioclase and biotite, from a feed of ground granite. The feasibility of the separation using a dynamic dense medium separation system has been investigated, as an alternative to the traditional flotation technique. The use of a two stages cylindrical vessel (Tri-Flo) was preferred to a conical vessel, due to the improved separation efficiency. Tests were conducted on two samples of crushed granite having size distributions of –3 +1 mm and –1 +0.5 mm.Heavy liquid analysis was performed on the two samples. As the rheological properties of the dense medium interact with the separation efficiency, the stability and viscosity of the dense medium were controlled and kept within an appropriate range; which was achieved with the addition of an artificial contaminant (clay) to the dense medium."

"When improving a plant a mineral processing engineer would like to know the mineral composition distribution. In order to assess this distribution in particles, as compared to the corresponding distribution in particle sections, a procedure needs to be applied to the observed particle sections. Such a procedure is called a stereological correction. There exists many stereological correction procedures, but one group of such procedures is based on using those stereological equations that do not require making assumptions regarding particle shape or texture. These equations are called geometric probability equations.Davy derived a geometric probability equation to estimate the covariance of mineral composition distributions for particles from both particle sections and linear intercepts. This covariance can be used to measure the variance of the particle composition distribution of each mineral. The equation as presented by Davy requires textural information; however the equation was modified by Gay to be more directly applied to particle sections and linear intercepts. The variance obtained from applying this equation is fundamental to the binary stereological correction procedures developed by Gay and his colleagues; the covariance is fundamental to the multiphase stereological correction.Thus far, validation of both the binary and multiphase stereological correction has been achieved using numerical simulation. This paper shall present results comparing the covariance (and variance) estimates from Gay’s equation with actual three-dimensional information obtained from serially sectioning particles. This involved mounting a set of particles and continuously sectioning all particles uniformly so that the three dimensional structure of the particles could be obtained.The mineralogical data to which the equations described above were applied were derived from two individual size fractions from a hard-rock titanium deposit. "The uranium deposit Curilo located in Western Bulgaria for a long period of time was a site of intensive mining activities including both the open-pit and underground mining techniques as well as in situ leaching of uranium. The ore was rich in pyrite and, apart from uranium, contained some non-ferrous metals. The mining operations in the deposit were ended in 1990 but since that time the deposit is a permanent source of acid drainage waters. The generation of these waters is connected mainly with the oxidation of pyrite and other sulphide minerals by the indigenous acidophilic chemolithotrophic bacteria.Laboratory and pilot-scale studies revealed that an efficient clean-up of the above-mentioned waters was achieved by means of passive systems of the wetland type. In 2001 a wetland was constructed in the deposit to treat a portion of the acid drainage waters which were discharged to a small ravine. This ravine reaches into the Teina, a small river that is a tributary of the upper reaches of the Iskar river.The wetland was constructed in the ravine and its bottom was located on intrusive rocks with a very low permeability. The rocks were covered by a 30 – 50 cm layer consisting of a mixture of soil, plant compost and crushed limestone. The wetland was characterized by an abundant water and emergent vegetation and a diverse microflora. Typha latifolia, Typha angustifolia and Phragmites australis were the prevalent plant species in the wetland but species of the genera Juncus, Eleocharis, Carex and Poa as well as different algae were also well present.The acid drainage waters treated by the wetland had a pH in the range of about 2.5 – 4.1 and contained uranium, radium, some heavy metals (iron, manganese, copper, zinc, cadmium, lead), arsenic and sulphates in concentrations much higher than the relevant permissible levels for waters intended for use in the agriculture and/or industry. The watercourse through the wetland covered a distance of about 0.2 – 1.0 l/s."

This paper describes the inseparable relation between product design, liberation, and metallurgical recovery in the optimisation of the recycling of passenger vehicles. This is illustrated by the use of an optimisation model that uses among others a material combination matrix based on metallurgical process data, which depicts the consequences of the quality of intermediate recycling products on the metallurgical material recovery and final alloy metal quality. Various simulations will illustrate the effect of changes in product design and hence liberation on the recycling of end-of-life vehicles. Although this paper focuses on cars, the discussion is equally valid for any end-of-life product. Calibration of the model will be discussed with reference to experiments carried out in order to study the optimal recovery of aluminium applications used in passenger vehicles.

"Considered combination of two processes-selective sorptions of metals on biosorbents, inorganic sorbents and their following flotation by dissolved air(DAF). The process of biosorption, using as sorbent suspended non-living biomass (of Streptomyces genus, S. clavulgerus and S. griseus, fungi-Penicillium chrisogenum and Phizopus arrhizus, active slime) in fine particulate dispersion, combined with the application of flotation, for the consequent solid / liquid separation of metal-loaded biomass, has been studied for the removal of toxic and noble metals from dilute aqueous solutions. Biomass of microorganisms possesses great sorptive capacity, exceeding capacity of synthetic and natural sorbents. For instance, Micrococus luteus sorbed gold for 2h Au 253mg/g.The optimal conditions of effective flotation (more than 90%) of actinomyces biomass, loaded with toxic metal-cadmium were found. The adsorpbing flotation technique for copper, arsenic (III, V), chromium removal of metals on pyrite mineral fines (suitable industrial by- product) is an effective process.Dissolved-air flotation was also apllied in the case of dolomite/lead aggregates removal. A fatty acid was used as a flotation surfactant. The presence of dolomite fines aids the efficiency of the process, in comprarison with the flotation of alone lead hydroxide.A laboratory investigation was undertaken on the gold-thiourea system over the whole pH range, aiming at the separation complex of gold [Au(CS(NH2)2]2+ by flotation from dilute solutions. The reagents were found to improve gold recoveries remarkably: the recovery reached over 95%. A separation technique has been investigated, involving gold adsorptionon powdered activated carbon. Foam flotation was employed for the subsequent solid/liquid separation, using sodium oleate as surfactant. The content of Au were 500 mg/L in froth and recovery gold about 100%."

"The evaluation of health hazards within the treatment of mineral and waste materials is gaining more and more importance in industrial countries. The need to control occupational safety has been recognised, and regulations which describe general protective measurements for personnel provide a tool to protect their health. It is the aim of the paper to give an outlook for practical approaches to risk assessment and to present measures for exposure reduction in accordance with the state of the art in Germany.Both the treatment of minerals and of waste materials are described in relation to the risk assessment. The method of evaluating health hazards in the two industries is similar and therefore both examples are presented next to each other.The example presented in the paper is the German “Biostoffverordnung” (the regulation for biological materials) which is important for the waste treatment industry. All kinds of waste treatment facilities (like composting facilities, waste dumps, sorting facilities for packaging materials) are obliged to carry out an assessment of health hazards for a variety of working areas and working places. In the process of thickening dewatering_the motion state of two- phase flow in a thickener has a very great influence on thickening efficiency. The investigation was made using copper mill tailings. In this investigation the authors explored the formation conditions and motion range of density current in the thickening process by model experiments, and analyzed the influence of density current on thickening efficiency. The results have shown that the formation of density current has relations with the structure parameters of a thickener and thickening process. The density current and its forming location affect thickener’s working efficiency. The author measured the motion state of two- phase flow in a 53-m dial. thickener for copper mill tailings under its operation conditions and analyzed the density distribution and motion state of two-phase flow in the thickener. The results obtained by the industry tests have shown that the motion state of two- phase flow in the thickener can be greatly improved by modification of its structure, achieving a great improvement in its thickening efficiency. It is concluded that, a thickener’s working efficiency depends on the formation and motion range of density current in it, which is of great importance to designing and establishment of thickener’s working parameters.

"The triboelectric charge attributes of some silicate minerals (i.e., feldspar, quartz and wollastonite) after contacting different triboecharging medium made of different materials were studied. The charge acquisitions by different size fractions of minerals were monitored and accordingly the energetic work function values, i.e., the main parameter determining the entity of triboelectric charges acquired by mineral grains, of the examined minerals were estimated. Moreover the separation behavior of different size fractions of these minerals through the electric field of a laboratory free-falling separator when the mineral grains are charged by different tribochargers were observed and considered as the electrical separation potential of the examined minerals.Furthermore, the role of adsorption of different chemical species on triboelectric charge characteristics and charge acquisition of mineral samples were described from theoretical point of view and the effects of some chemical reagents on triboelectric charge acquisition of the examined minerals were studied. In addition the separation behavior of chemically conditioned quartz, feldspar and wollastonite minerals, using different anionic and cationic reagents, through the electric field of a free-fall electrostatic separator before and after chemical conditioning were monitored.Finally an attempt was made to translate the findings from single mineral systems to a complex silicate ore, containing mainly of feldspars, quartz, and wollastonite. Different separation tests under various conditions were conducted to this complex silicate ore. Before passing through the separation device, the ore sample was conditioned by different cationic and anionic reagents and then was triboelectricaly charged by different tribocharging medium in order to find the effective reagent and tribocharging medium for separating silicates. Besides the role of temperature and humidity of the surrounding ambient in separation behavior were considered."

"Gravity separation by centrifugal equipment, particularly in the mineral processing industry is a novel approach of optimising product recovery. The manufacture and sale of centrifugal equipment by recently established companies is now beginning to have a significant impact on the industry. Some benefits of operating at increased gravity include: reduced environmental issues, a shorter lead time, lower capital cost and improved recoveries of elemental mineral before entering the grinding circuit.Of topical discussion is the use of centrifugal separators for the recovery of less valuable minerals that will form a greater proportion of the feed compared to traditional scalping circuits where the gold content is extremely low. This ultimately results in the centrifugal system having to have a greater mass pull. In addition, the relative density difference between gangue and valuable mineral is likely to be less and therefore modelling and optimisation of this separation process will be necessary. Some researchers have muted using fluidisation models to model the forces present in the separation zone of a centrifugal separator2. It is not unusual for the manufactures of centrifugal separation equipment to use fluidisation terminology to describe what happens in the separation zone. Most fluidisation models are based on the empirical/classic relationship between superficial fluid velocity and voidage postulated by Richardson and Zaki. However, no researcher has proved the effectiveness of this relationship in an increased gravity Environment."

"Transformation of diamond into graphite was investigated in the region of diamond metastability under the action of media chemically active relative to carbon in the temperature range from 770 K up to 2200 K and pressure range from 10-3 Pa up to 3 GPa/IV VIII group metals of periodic system and oxygen were used as media chemically active relative to diamond.Methods of electron diffraction, chemical analyses, emission spectroscopy and X-ray phase analyses were used for determination of the reaction products.It was found that in the region of diamond metastability the stage of catalytic phase transformation of diamond into graphite took place during the interaction between diamond and metal. Metal reduce activation energy for transition of diamond into graphite from 109,4 kcal/mole to 77,4 kcal/mole.Kinetic of phase transformation of diamond into graphite was investigated.Pressure does not considerably influence on the rate of phase transformation of diamond into graphite in the presence of transition metals."
