Mineral selective flash roasting (Steiner process) in oxidizing atmosphere was tested successfully for the efficient low intensity magnetic separation of siderite from ankerite and other gangue minerals within the ore of the Steirische Erzberg, Austria. The calcium, magnesium and manganese containing siderite turns selectively into a ferromagnetic oxide phase while ankerite remains paramagnetic. The expulsion of CO2 increases the volume specific surface depending on the selected temperature. Unlike pure iron oxides absorbing SO2 below 530°C, the calcined siderite (enriched in the magnetic product of the Steiner process) acts as a sorbent for SO2 between 500 and 820°C. The effect was studied by thermogravimetric analysis and particle bed tests complemented with neutron thermo diffractometry (D20/ ILL). The energy input was simulated with the help of a tube furnace. The composition of the artificial combustion gas permeating the bed was close to that measured in pilot scale tests (6 % CO2, 12 % O2, 700 vpm SO2). The evaluation of data relating the SO2 variation in the off gas monitored by electrochemical cells to the actual phase composition revealed an intermediate ferrite phase as absorber. During the rapid decomposition in oxidizing atmosphere starting at 500°C the occurring siderite alters to a (CaO, MgO, MnO)Fe2O3 ferrite as an intermediate phase accompanied with sudden SO2 absorption. SO2 disintegrates the ferrite structure forming MgSO4 and MnSO4, taking Fe2O3 as a catalyst. Ankerite (enriched in the non magnetics of the Steiner process) starts to absorb at temperatures above 1000°C forming gypsum. The findings support the SO2 controlled operation of the Steiner process by ?autodesulfurisation?. Enormous amount of iron ore fines is generated, due to partly soft and friable nature, during mining. Coal fines are also produced during their processing. These fines cannot be used directly in ironmaking reactors. Utilization of these fines for extracting metal is of vital concern for resource conservation and pollution control, and therefore, a novel concept of agglomeration by cold-bonding is developed. Composite briquettes/pellets of iron ore fines with coal fines were prepared in the laboratory by cold-bonding technique. Various binders such as lime, Ca(OH)2, slaked lime, dextrin, molasses, fly ash etc were employed either alone or in combination in different proportions for making composite briquettes/pellets. It was possible to obtain dry strength of composite briquettes more than 300 N/briquette in some cases and more than 200 N/briquette in many trials. The combination of fly ash with slaked lime and molasses produced the highest strength, more than 400 N/briquette. Drop strength and shatter index values of composite briquettes/pellets were also measured. In briquettes, best compressive strength (978 N/briquette) is observed by using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) binder. In pellet, best compressive strength (362 N/pellet) is achieved by PVA; shatter index (0.1%) and dry drop strength (158 numbers) are also good. Compressive strength above 200 N/pellet is obtained by fly ash, slaked lime and molasses combination.

In this investigation, different mixtures of realgar and orpiment particles were floated in a laboratory batch flotation cell and multivariate image analysis was used to estimate the arsenic content in the froths. The analysis was based on the froth colour, as well as extraction of three groups of textural features, namely those based on grey level co-occurrence matrices (GLCMs), wavelets and local binary patterns (LBPs). Collectively, these features provided better information on the arsenic content of the froths than any one of the individual groups of features. Partial least squares models could explain approximately 78% of the variance in the arsenic by using all the features combined. The colour content, particularly the green component in the red-green-blue (RGB) features, provided almost as much information as each of the three sets of texture-base features individually.

The Minerals Tertiary Education Council (MTEC), over the past decade, has worked closely with Australian higher education partners in metallurgical education to build capacity in this discipline to deliver high quality graduates for the Australian minerals-industry. This paper explores the benefits of industry engagement through a national innovative collaboration, the Metallurgical Education Partnership (MEP), and specifically the final year Process Design Project (PDP), over the four year period from 2008-2011. Some of the benefits discussed in this paper include outcomes of the student experience during an industry-intensive workshop, collaboration between higher education providers and aligning graduate attributes to meet industry requirements.

It has been long known that many microorganisms are able to interact with mineral particles to obtain a concentrate; thus, one possible technique is flotation and its related process. Biological process have been attracting attention in mineral processing due to lower operating cost and their possible applications to process low-grade and fine ores. The adhesion of microorganism to surface of mineral particles can alter the hydrophobicity of mineral markedly. Such surface modifications modify its hydrophobicity or hydrophilicity will be used to flotation of cassiterite fines. The major difficult to float fine particles is attributed to the low probability of bubble-particle collision, one characteristic of electroflotation process is the ability to create very tiny bubbles, which is known, improve the collision efficiency and flotation performance of fine particles. In this study, the electroflotation of fine particles using Rhodococcus opacus strain as bioreagent was investigated. Electroflotation experiments were carried out using particles of cassiterite around 8µm of mean diameter the adsorption of R. Opacus onto cassiterite particles was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), electrokinetic and contact angle analyses. The measurement of bubble size by laser diffraction showed a mean bubble size of around 26 µm, current density and bacteria concentration appear to be the main parameters affecting the mean diameter of bubbles, electroflotation tests reported recovery around of 64.5 % at pH 5, concentration of 2,87 x10¹² cells/ml (50 mg/L) and current density of 51,4 mA/cm2.

"The nature high carbon graphite with fine particle size has low commercial value because of its narrow application range. In order to improve its value, this paper has studied the methods for nature spherical graphite. The nature spherical graphite can be used as the battery material in the field of electronic product battery and new energy automobile battery, basis on the physicochemical characteristics and particle feature of graphite. In this research, the Fixed Carbon (FC) grade of the graphite sample is more than 95.0% and the particle size of the graphite sample is from +325 mesh to -100 mesh. There are many methods for nature spherical graphite, including the fluidized bed airflow mill, the hydro-spheroidization mill and micropowder mill. The testing results indicate that the method of ACM micropowder mill is the best because the spherical shaping ratio and production yield of spherical graphite are both the best.According to the testing results of the ACM micropowder mill, the best process includes two stages of coarse crushing, four stages of fine crushing and twelve stages of shaping. And two kinds of spherical graphite products can be got, which are the product of D50=22.85 µm and the product of D50=15.43µm, and the whole yield of them is up to 54.43%. So, it lays a foundation for the high value utilization of this kind of graphite resources.INTRODUCTION Graphite is isomer of the diamond. Graphite ore resources are mainly concentrated in China, Brazil, India, followed by Czech, Korea, Mexico, Canada and other countries. Graphite ore has lots of characteristics by itself crystal structure, such as good resistance to high temperature, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, thermal shock resistance, good lubricity, plasticity, chemical stability and so on. So, Graphite is widely used in metallurgy, machinery, electrical, chemical, petroleum, nuclear industry, defense industry and other areas. [1,2,3] Natural graphite ore has low geological Fixed Carbon (FC) grade. FC grade should be enriched to more than 94.0% by mineral processing. [1,2] The particle size composition of this high carbon graphite affects its application value. The part of +100 mesh particle size has high application value. The part of -100 mesh particle size has low value because of its limited application field. In order to improve the value of-100 mesh particle size, this part high carbon graphite can be made into spherical graphite. And the value of the spherical graphite is great, it is more than 8 times of the feed. This paper has lots of tests for spherical graphite preparing with the fine particle size natural high carbon graphite. And it lays a foundation for the high value of this kind of resource."

Coal sorting with an x-ray-transmission (XRT) sensor has experienced a lot of development since first described by Jekinson et.al. in 1974. Powerful computers and increasingly sensitive X-ray scintillation counters enabled the development of high-performance sensor-based sorting machines. The first industrial installation of a belt-type XRT-sorting for coal is in operation since 2004. It is upgrading high quality coal from 1% ash to 0.7% ash for cathode production. In comparison to the high quality coal which is treated with a belt-type sorter, the chute type sorter has been successfully optimized for high volume coal treatment of lower quality coals. This project was funded by the German Environmental Fund (Project Nr.244444). In cooperation with the RWTH Aachen University and Isambane Processing, CommodasUltrasort(now Tomra Sorting Solutions) conducted extensive pilot test work under production conditions in 2010 for the destoning of power station coal at Arnot Power Station in South Africa. The experience gained during this pilot test phase led to an optimized, redesigned PRO Secondary XRT Chute sorter which is now in operation at a South African coal mine. This flexible semi-mobile modular destoning plant is treating a size range of -120 mm +30 mm at a throughput of 150 tph. The implementation of this plant not only reduces the ash content, abrasiveness index and sulfur content significantly, but also reduces royalties, water treatment and transport costs.

In Sarcheshmeh Copper Complex, a molybdenite floatation concentrate was produced by selective removal of copper impurities with 7 stages of cleaner floatation banks, that contains around 1% copper and 54.5% molybdenum. Mineralogical studies, physical and chemical characterizations showed that the sample contained 91% molybdenite (MoS2), 2.6% chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), 0.2%Covellite (CuS), 1.6% pyrite (FeS2) and 4.6% other nonmetallic impurities. In the present study, the removal of the copper sulfide was investigated by ferric chloride leaching for achieving a molybdenite concentrate with copper content less than 0.3%. Therefore, the application of response surface methodology (RSM) for modeling and optimization of the influence of three control parameters including ferric chloride (FeCl3) dosage, reaction temperature and reaction time, each varying in five levels, were considered, and the mathematical model for prediction of %Cu removal from molybdenite concentrate was derived. This study showed that RSM could effectively be applied for the modeling of ferric chloride leaching, and finding an economical optimum condition to achieve maximum de-coppering efficiency while consuming minimum leaching reagents. The optimum dissolution conditions to maximize Cu extraction were 200 kg/t for ferric chloride dosage, 120 min for reaction time and 80 °C for reaction temperature with a prediction of 83.20% Cu dissolution. "Mining in the Ore Mountains (Germany) has taken place for hundreds of years and in several stages. Each stage produced its typical tailing. According to the former state of the art of the processing much valuables could not be extracted. This was caused by complex interlocking of the minerals, low grades, or by upgrading processes not sensitive enough for small particle sizes. Thus the processing of these fractions was uneconomically. Modern technical possibilities and rising metal prices bring these tailings disposals into focus for the processing of strategic metals. Mining disposals can be classified in heaps with coarse, low grade rock, which did not undergo a processing, slags and fly ash from smelting, and tailing disposals from mineral processing. The latter is under investigation to integrate them into a geographic information system. The mineral processing of the material will be part of the database besides information about geographic location, structure, amount of valuables, and details of ownership of the heap. The tailings disposals are composed of coarse, low grade, interlocked particles from density separation processes, medium size particles, which are tailings from flotation, and fines with liberated valuables, which did not undergo flotation. Therefore mineral processing of these disposals comprises the separation of liberated gangue by classification, beneficiation of locked valuables with density separation, liberation of valuables by grinding, and beneficiation of liberated valuables with flotation. The presented work shows the results concerning the composition of one exemplary heap and results of the classification as well as of the preconcentration tests achieved with material from this heap."

"Adequate characterisation of clays is becoming increasingly important as operating mines move into areas of more complex ores. The processing therefore needs better mineralogical characterisation to identify problematic ores for better planning before issues arise. While a number of instrumental mineral characterisation methods are available, X-ray Diffraction (XRD) is widely recognised as perhaps the best technique for the identification and quantification of minerals, particularly clays. When an appropriate sequential and systematic sample preparation and treatment protocol is employed with instrumental XRD analysis individual clays can be uniquely identified, and the proportions of interstratified clays can also be quantified. The effect of sample preparation on the XRD analysis and identification of clays was investigated in this study. The results showed that sample preparation protocol is indeed critical to accurately analysis and characterisation of clays. For example, both dry grinding and micronizing affected the degree of crystallinity of kaolinite leading to the formation of reactive surfaces or changes in the physicochemical behavior. It was also found that the apparent degree of preferred orientation in platy minerals correlates directly with the amount of force/pressure applied during the preparation of backfilled powder samples. This work showed that manual preparation can produce highly variable peak intensities especially with minerals that show any preferred orientation. KEYWORDS Clay; XRD; kaolinite INTRODUCTION Clays are important in our life and they have numerous applications in modern world from cosmetics to environmental remediation. Therefore, clays have been extensively investigated for many years. Adequate characterisation of clays is becoming increasingly important as the mineral processing industry faces more complex mineralogy with the need for better mineralogical characterisation to identify problematic ores and plan accordingly. In most studies, X-ray diffraction (XRD) method has shown the unique capability to characterise mineralogy, especially for the fine grained size materials. The XRD technique is particularly diagnostic for clays. It is known that under ideal conditions, the peak intensities of an XRD diffractogram are proportional to the concentrations of individual minerals present in the sample. Hence, the qualitative mineralogical data obtained from XRD can be quantified, using either the internal or external standard methods. However, it is also known that clays are particularly sensitive to the influences of sample preparation method due to their physical characteristics (e.g. fine grain size, morphology, relative physical softness, crystallinity, thermal sensitivity) that could be destroyed by inappropriate preparation prior to the analysis. Thermal and mechanical treatment and grinding of clays can change their crystalline structure, and consequently, their characterisation results by XRD analysis. The behaviour of clays in grinding has been widely studied, especially for kaolinite (Miller and Oulton, 1970, Milocevic et al., 1992, Tomasevic-Canovic et al., 1992). With prolonged grinding time, the crystallinity of the clays can decrease (Filipovic-Petrovic et al., 2002). It has been shown that grinding may gradually cause the loss of hydroxyl ions of kaolinite (Gonzalez Garcia et al., 1991)."

Flotation of halite?new, recently begun to be developed method of processing water-soluble minerals. In the paper the results of studies of the new directions of the application of halite flotation are represented. Studies on the flotation separation of halite and sylvite in the salt solutions of different composition, showed the possibility of the halite flotation realization not only in the carnallite brine (content of salts: MgCl2 25.5% ~ 26.0 %, chlorides of potassium and sodium 5.5% ~ 6.0%), but in the sylvinite brine, which contains 10.5% ~ 10.8% KCl and 20.5% ~ 21% NaCl. On the basis obtained results are carried out experiences on the halite flotation from samples of the converted products of sylvinite ores by flotation method and by the method of the electrostatic separation. It is shown that in all cases it is possible to accomplish effective and selective recovery of halite. The halite recovery into the foam product of flotation makes 80% ~ 90% with an increase in the content of KCl in the cell product of flotation in comparison with a composition of flotation feed: - from the product after the electrostatic separation of ore ? from 76% KCl to 95% ~ 97% KCl; - from the small fraction of ore (- 0.25 + 0 mm) ? from 30% KCl to 60% ~ 64% KCl; - from middlings (intermediate products) of sylvite flotation from 16% ~ 31% KCl to 45% ~ 80% KCl. An increase in the molecular weight of alkylmorpholines increases the selectivity of the flotation separation of halite and sylvite. Halite recovery from small size fraction of ore or/and middling of sylvite flotation with the sub-sequent joint filtration halite product and tails of sylvite flotation allows to reduce considerably expenses for manufacture potash chloride from Pilot-industrial tests for the first time confirmed the possibility of the effective halite flotation in the saturated solutions of chlorides of potassium and sodium (sylvinite brine).

As part of an Australian Research Council project with Newmont and Newcrest mining companies studying the influence of clay minerals on rheology, hydrodynamics and flotation response, the cryo-SEM technique has been used to capture and image the clay (low crystallinity kaolinite Q38) aggregate structures in the flotation pulp immediately after collector and before frother addition. Samples were also collected from the earliest froth phase and the froth overflow corresponding to early and later concentrates. In this technique, a copper tube is filled with the sample during operation of the cell. The tube is immediately plunged into liquid nitrogen vitrifying the water phase before it can crystallise as ice thereby retaining the structures without volume or other physical change. After sublimation of the vitrified water surface, the aggregate structures are revealed and can be compared between pulp and froth phases from clays in different feeds and flotation conditions. The images from both low-clay ore and ore with clay content reveal various levels of aggregation as predominantly edge-edge connected aggregates similar to those found in our previous studies of high-clay tailings. For the samples from the ore with clay content, more extensive edge-edge clay strings are found in the early froth phase as compared to exiting froth overflow and the pulp phase with short edge-edge connected strings. It is suggested that the strings of clay particles result from edge-edge aggregation in the Plateau borders of the bubbles before breakage during sampling and the more extensive edge-edge aggregation in early froth phase is induced by crowding in the bubble borders. The clay strings collected into the overflow concentrate are almost all broken up compared with the Froth before drop-back. The implications for entrainment and entrapment mechanisms of gangue capture in froth will be discussed.

"A weathering-crust niobium-rare earth-bearing deposit is formed by the weathering alterationof alkaline granite, which is refractory due to its low grade and complex properties. The mineralogicalcomposition of ore, the grain size of majorminerals as well as the occurrence of Nb and REE are studied in this paper using MLA combined with traditional methods. According to the results, a wide range of Nb-Ti-REE compound minerals including titanoniobite, uranpyrochlore, chlopinite, samarskite and ilmenorutile areformed for the extensive isomorphous substitution among the elements of Nb, Ta, REE, Fe, Ti, U and Th. The occurrence of REE is extremely complex. First, the REEexistingas rare earth minerals including monazite, xenotime, bastnaesite,etcaccount for 21%. Second, the REEexist in the lattice of Nb and Zr minerals as isomorphous additions, which account for 18%. Third, the REE exist as colloidal rare earthdeposit,which account for 35%. Last, the REEexistingas ion-adsorption-type rare earth,which are adsorbedon the kaolinite in the form of hydrated hydroxyl ions, account for 26%.Based on the results of mineralogy, the combined technology process "mineral processing- hydrometallurgical separation" is needed to deal with the ore. The mineral processing tests show that, for the feed ore containing Nb2O5 0.065%, REO 0.13%, an Nb-REE concentrate containing Nb2O5 1.38%, REO 1.98% can be gained by "high intensity magnetic separation-regrinding-gravity separation by shaking tables". The recovery of Nb2O5 and REO is 62.42% and 44.78% respectively. The Nb-REE concentrate is dealt by the metallurgy process "direct reduction- acid leaching & acidulating- neutralization & precipitation- chlorination & distillation" and the rare earth oxide of 92.34% REO as well as the Nb-Zr oxide of 24.62% Nb2O5 can be obtained with the recovery of REO and Nb2O5 being 76.83% and 59.37% respectively."

The flow in a hydrocyclone classifier is highly turbulent complex nature of multi-phase structure, which has led designers to rely on empirical mathematical models for predicting the performance. A number of classifying cyclone models have been developed and successfully used in mineral comminution circuit simulators over the past four decades (Plitt, 1976 and Nageswararao, 1978). However, most of the mathematical models currently available to describe hydrocyclone classifier performance are based on single average mineral density component behavior. In industrial comminution circuits, the feed to the cyclone composed of a mixture of particles of varying degrees of liberation and sizes. The behavior of multi-component particles in a hydrocyclone is poorly understood and unaccounted for in most of the mathematical model equations available in the literature. There is evidence from a number of experimental data sets indicating the significant influence of the multi-component particles on measured cyclone performance. A concept for modeling the performance of hydrocyclones based on multi-component behavior is proposed in this paper. A set of semi-empirical model equations for cut-size, sharpness of separation are presented and the corresponding model parameters evaluated from the measured data are given.

Research at Cytec over the past two decades has shown that the traditional approach for ore metallurgical characterization (typically conducted via laboratory-scale batch flotation tests), which involves changing reagents and conditions one-factor-at-a-time, leads to several pitfalls. The chemical solution thus selected has a narrow un-optimized window of performance and will likely fail in the plant. A holistic approach, called the Flotation Matrix 100? process for ore metallurgical characterization, was developed at Cytec about a decade ago and has been successfully used to develop robust reagent solutions for several operations around the world. The premise for the approach is that flotation outcome from ores is variable and is determined by complex interactions between various physical, chemical and operational factors. A key component of the process is the use of efficient multivariate designs focused on the chemistry aspects (reagents and pulp chemistry), which helps identify the best processing conditions for each ore type, as well as the conditions resulting in poor performance. It also includes advanced statistical methods for dealing with the complexity and variability of experimental data. The holistic approach is illustrated in this paper with a case study on Pb/Zn ores. Using just 18 carefully designed batch tests, it is possible to partially simulate the behavior of each ore type in the plant. The best conditions for each ore type, along with the conditions to avoid, are identified. Along with this, insights are obtained into the reasons for high reagent dosages for certain ore types, and interactions between variables. The proposal of the nip zone angle determination in HPGR crushing process is presented in the paper. Knowledge of the nip zone angle value, in turn, makes it possible to determine the real maximum pressing force in the high-pressure comminution. Two methods of determination of this maximum pressure were proposed and verified. The first method is based on the roll?s geometry, and the change of the HPGR chamber?s volume together with the roll rotation, while the second one considers the outlet gap width impact. Results of the nip zone angle calculations according to both methods are similar and show convergence with the real operating conditions. The verification was carried out in a piston-die press, and experimental results show that methodology of the nip zone angle determination presented in the paper has its practical confirmation. A proper determination of the nip zone border makes it possible to calculate the comminution probability of given type of material and is a basis for the HPGR crushing process modeling and optimization. The German Kupferschiefer (copper shale) mining history reaches back over 800 years with its last active mines being shut down in 1990. Increasing metal demands and potential thread of future supply shortages led to the initiation of new exploration programs including feasibility studies for the Spremberg deposit as well as Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funded research investigations of Kupferschiefer Waste Dump treatment in the Mansfelder region. This article describes the sensor based sorting results of coarse Kupferschiefer via Near Infrared (NIR) Sorting, being conducted by the department of mineral processing (AMR) in Aachen, Germany. It provides information about the necessity of presorting of the different ore types prior to flotation and puts the NIR Sorting results into context with conventional Kupferschiefer processing. As opposed to large household appliances, in the processing of which dissambling has an important role, this possibility is pushed into the background as the size decreases. The practicable solution is physical liberation of the used small electronic household devices (by comminution) and separation of the liberated components according to their physical properties. In the first phase of the experimental work the structural/material composition of the typical products (mixer, kitchen robot, hair dryer, coffee machine, iron, bread toaster, vacuum cleaner, oil fryer) was determined. In the second phase a physical liberability test for each appliance using a rotary shear/shredder for crushing and a hammer shredder for milling was carried out. In the third phase the experimental separability tests using an air classifier and a shaking air table, as well as an eddy-current and an electrostatic separator were performed. In the present paper the results obtained using the air classifier and the electrostatic separator, are reported. To follow the life of a grain a new methodological procedure was elaborated. The particle size fractions after comminution were sorted into material fractions (copper, aluminium, plastics, etc.), then separated, and finally the recovery of the material components in the products were determined. Furthermore, the joint separability was investigated from two points of view: 1) for grain fractions and 2) for each waste appliance. Taknar polymetal (Cu-Zn-Au-Ag-Pb) deposit and concentration flotation plant are located in the northeast of Iran. The flotation feed contains Chalcopyrite, sphalerite and pyrite with 4, 4 and 8 percent respectively. Cu and Zn contents are 1.26 and 3.5 present. Pyrite decreases the quality of base metal concentrates and increases the amount of sulfur compounds produced in the base metal extraction processes. Therefore, depression of pyrite is essential in the concentration of base metal sulfides by flotation. For flotation tests, 4 mixed collector systems, MIBC (20g/t), lime and tow depression systems (sodium cyanide (60g/t)-zinc sulphate and dextrin (300g/t)-zinc sulphate) were used as collector, frother, pH regulator and pyrite-sphalerite depressants in the chalcopyrite flotation stage, respectively, and SIPX, MIBC, lime and copper sulphate (as activator) were used in sphalerite flotation from first stage tailings. The results have shown that, sodium cyanide is a suitable depressant for pyrite and sphalerite in the first stage of flotation. Compared to dextrin as depressant, chalcopyrite recovery was decreased approximately 1.83%. In addition, when sodium cyanide was used as pyrite depressant, copper sulphate consumption raised approximately 90 g/t for activation of sphalerite. From Environment and HSE points of view, dextrin is natural, biodegradable, and non-toxic while cyanide is very high toxic. Minerals in coals cause operational problems in various coal utilization technology as well as act as diluents towards its heat value. Indian coals contain higher percentage of mineral matter compared to foreign coals due to its formation through drift origin. Efficient utilization of high ash coal in environment friendly manner is the driving force for the development of clean coal technology. Coal gasification offers practical means meeting stringent environment controlled parameters for producing power, chemicals, liquid fuels and clean energy on a single platform. It is well accepted that gasification technology has sufficient potential for sustainable development of clean coal technology. Gasification reactivity depends on the coal properties and operational parameters as well as minerals present in coal. Minerals not only create operational problems but on the other side also catalyze the gasification and combustion reaction. Therefore to understand the effect of minerals on the gasification reactivity, present paper proposes to study the variation of gasification reactivity with various gravity cuts such as, 1.4-1.5; 1.6-1.7; and 1.8-1.9 of a selected coal. Gasification reactivity has been studied by thermo gravimetric analyzer (TGA) using CO2 as gasifying agent. Surface properties such as, true density, apparent density, porosity, surface area of different gravity cut samples have also been measured to find out the effect of gravity separation on gasification reactivity.
