Arsenic bearing copper-gold ores deposit have been found in most areas of China, especially in southwest. Due to the very closed association between arsenic, copper and gold, conventional flotation and cyanide leaching process may not give positive results. An arsenic bearing copper-gold ore in Sichuan province ,with gold grade of 10.12 g/t, 0.6% Cu and 0.14% As, is characterized by superfine grains with -40 microns fraction accounting for 70.9% and the gold enwrapped mainly by pyrite and tennanite accounts for 34.31%. Arsenic in this ore occurs in isomorphism, deposited in tetrahedrite. The ore was processed primarily in two stage flotation to get copper bearing gold concentrate and pyrite bearing gold concentrate respectively, and sequentially processed by leaching. Under the pressure of 300 KPa and 110~115 ?, the copper-gold concentrate was leached by an oxidizing and catalyzing leach agent then copper and gold were separated from each other in leach solution. The pyrite bearing gold concentrate was processed by cyanide leaching with the leach residue as sulfur product. The test results showed that copper recovery was up to 88.89%, gold recovery up to 89.18% and sulfur recovery up to 92.64%.

"We have conducted analytical and technological evaluation of sepiolite containing clay. The possible areas of application of the sepiolite have been investigated and complex methods of enrichment of natural sepiolite have been identified. It was determined that for preserving the structure of minerals after processing the most effective method of the natural agglomerates disintegration was the soft abrasion of the clay fraction up to 0,5 mm. Disintegration of sepiolite clay along with using high energy-stressed effects on the matrix can deteriorate the rheological properties of clay suspensions and reduce the yield of drilling mud and sorption properties. To improve the quality of clay powders we used combined gravity-modifying method of wet enrichment. After the wet enrichment the yield of drilling mud increased up to 12.7 m3/t, with the addition of MgO up to 20,3 m3/t. It was noted that drilling muds contenting more than 50% of sepiolite are stable in mineralized (salt) waters. Based on the studied activated sepiolite rocks we obtained the effective heat-insulating materials with relatively low thermal conductivity – 0,165 W/m·K, average strength – 7,29 MPa and water absorption-49,0%.INTRODUCTION The modern development of the Russian economy requires the implementation of scientific and technical tasks. The solutions of it involves a radical reduction in energy, heat losses and material consumption of products, rational and efficient using of all types of resources, as well as the using of new types of mineral raw materials and materials based on it. An example of a new type of mineral raw materials for Russia is sepiolite containing rocks, due to unconventional conditions for their soils accumulation in the climate of the Far North. Sepiolite is a unique type of nonmetallic mineral. It is formed in soils, marine and saline basins, occurs in carbonate and carbonate-clay rocks in the form of lenses and lens – shaped layers, rarely nodules, loose powdery masses, shell-like concretions. Sepiolite may have a soft porous macroscopic appearance or less often the structure of the fibrous mass. Color of sepiolite is from white to cream with gray, green, pink and even crimson shade depending on the degree of pollution. Sepiolite can be in two forms - a-sepiolite (parasepiolite), which occurs in the form of large packets of crystalline fibers and ß-sepiolite, which occurs in the form of amorphous aggregates or small flat rounded particles. The sepiolite fibers have a length of from 0.2 to 2 Å, width from 100 to 300 Å, the thickness from 50 to 100 Å (Geological dictionary, 1973)."

"The purpose of the study is to study the feasibility of using sodium diisobutyl dithiophosphinate (DDP) to enhance the recovery of platinum group elements from low-grade refractory copper-nickel ores characterized by a portion of nickel and platinum group elements (PGEs) locked in the dominant sulfide mineral — pyrrhotite. These ore characteristics dictate the need to produce a bulk PGE-containing sulfide concentrate due to the difficulties of producing selective concentrates without a significant loss of the metals.New data on the adsorption and flotation performance of DDP-containing collectors were obtained by measuring the electrode potential, hydrophobicity of the sulfide mineral surfaces and by means of extraction spectrophotometry and flotation studies. The interaction between DDP, pyrrhotite, and pentlandite leads to the formation of surface hydrophobic layers consisting mainly of disulfide and a small amount of metal compounds. These adsorption layers are formed by the reaction with butyl xanthate. In the case of cooperite, DDP reacts with the surface, forming not only disulfide, as in the case of butyl xanthate, but also a complex platinum compound. DDP-containing agents demonstrate stronger collecting properties with respect to sulfide minerals of copper-nickel ores compared to butyl xanthate, which is explained by a stronger hydrophobizing effect and foaming properties.The addition of a combination of DDP-containing agents and butyl xanthate at a ratio of 3:1 for the recovery of sulfides and PGEs in the bulk flotation of copper-nickel ore made it possible to improve the recovery of Ni, Pt, and Pd by 13.6, 9.2, and 9.4%, respectively, relative to the recovery achieved in flotation with butyl xanthate.Bulk flotation with the addition of a composition of DDP-containing agents and butyl xanthate allows the most complete recovery of all valuable elements and is the only technologically feasible method for processing of lowgrade ores, when it is impossible to produce without loss high-grade selective concentrates suitable for smelting."

"Gas dispersion properties of sodium salts of 6, 12 and 18-carbon fatty acids (hexanoic, lauric and oleic acid) were investigated as a function of pH. A strong effect of pH was observed on gas dispersion properties of fatty acids. At high pH for 12 and 18 carbon fatty acids, at which these surfactants formed a true solution, the gas dispersion properties were similar to those of MIBC. In the case of sodium hexanoate, which has a much higher solubility than the longer chain fatty acids and therefore does not form precipitates, the gas dispersion properties of this surfactant were strongly enhanced in the acidic pH range, where hexanoic acid was fully associated. This result is an indication that undissociated hexanoic acid is much more surface-active than anionic hexanoate. Only a small effect of the surfactant chain length on gas dispersion properties of the tested reagents was observed. The measured critical coalescence concentration (CCC95) values increase slightly by decreasing chain length and range from 5.8 x 10-5 mol/L (17.7 mg/L) for sodium oleate to 7.2 x 10-5 mol/L (16 mg/L) for sodium laurate at pH 10 and 1.9 x 10-4 mol/L (26 mg/L) for sodium hexanoate at pH 3.7. These are compared to CCC95 of MIBC, which is measured to be 8 x 10-5 mol/L (8 mg/L). The soluble molecular species were recognized as the most effective species in preventing bubble coalescence."

"Recent improvements in the resolution of X-ray computed tomography (CT) make it a promising alternative to traditional time consuming, error prone laboratory procedures for mineral liberation analysis, such as heavy liquid fractioning and measurements on polished sections. All indications are that in a few years CT will be well-established in many laboratories as a rapid technique for accurate liberation studies. In this scenario it would be able to provide liberation spectra or washability data in tens of minutes following sampling. However, although CT is a fast evolving technology, its on-line application is unlikely in the foreseeable future.Dual-energy (DE) radiography is another X-ray technique originating from non-destructive evaluation (NDE) and medical fields, which allows retrieval of the volumetric content of valuable components from two-phase particles in a fraction of second. Two radiographic images at different X-ray energies of a single particle or a monolayer of particles are taken in short time sequence. The thickness of the two phases is calculated particle by particle by image subtraction, whereupon particle grades can be derived. The development of the method for on-line applications requires the presentation of non-overlapping particles in the gap in the X-ray source detector measurement couple. Straightforward extension of the principle to multiphase systems is not possible. The paper reviews the state of the art of these two techniques as applied to mineral liberation problems."

"At the processing plant Erdenet, a new facility for advanced ore diagnostics in-stream (at the conveyor), based on optical analyser of mineral composition, was tested. Such systems provide highly accurate in-stream measurements of ore properties. The system provided information on the ore mineralogical composition, the particle size distribution and the impregnation of minerals. A special flatbed facility for optical spectrum-based estimation of fine-crushed ore has been developed, being incorporated into the existing system of ore sampling and analysis. Application of the flatbed facility renders possible a high accuracy of determining ore mineralogical composition. High precision of the optical spectrum-based estimation is achieved using special devices, installed in the sampling and the sample analysis flow sheet, applied by the technical control department. Modern systems for optical spectrum-based estimation of ore grade provide a basis for effective automated control of ore benefication processes, based on the principle of advanced ore grade control. Process management task of grinding and flotation was to choose options that take into account the composition and grade of the ore coming. The calculation data array comprises consumption of reagents, ore processing, grind size etc. The systems implemented at the processing plant contributed to increasing copper and molybdenum recovery. INTRODUCTION In-stream ore grade analysis is a new trend in effective control of ore benefication processes. This is realised based on radiometric measurements in the X-ray and visible spectrum regions, in which mineral components of the initial ore (Sbárbaro and Villar, 2010) or the benefication products become apparent (Hyotyniemi and Ylinen, 1998; Haavisto and Hyötyniemi, 2010). An important advantage of such methods is in-stream measuring ore parameters, including mass fractions of individual minerals, which makes it possible to use the information obtained in the processes of automated control."

Consistency of Run-Off-Mine (ROM) quality plays an important role in mineral processing which is not very often talked about. The major impediment is limitation of sampling ROM ore, which makes processing plants to run without any realtime feedback on ore quality that comes in. The process of direct determination of Run-Off-Mine (ROM) ore quality is expensive and time consuming as drawing and preparing representative samples from blasted muckpiles are constrained by large sample size and inherent heterogeneity in terms of size and chemistry. In absence of techniques for direct measurement of quality, monitoring and control of ROM, feed to the processing plant at Joda East Mine, like all other iron ore beneficiation plants worldwide, is largely based on blasthole sampling and subsequent chemical analyses of blastcone chips. While such indirect methods proves to be more accurate for representing whole of a mining block or blasted muckpile (~30-50KT/blast), it is indeed a challenge to ascertain and predict day to day input quality for a part there off. This eventually leads to a gap between predicted and actual ROM quality, resulting in difficulties in process control, in turn, and leading to wide swings in product quality. Hence, it is imperative to bridge the gap between predicted and actual ROM quality by arriving at means, which ensure consistent plant feed grade to deliver consistent output. The paper discusses an efficient and affordable alternative for effective prediction of ROM alumina which has been developed by integrating blasthole quality database in GPS based Truck Dispatch System (GPS-TDS) at Joda East Mine. Initially, GPS-TDS has been installed for optimizing production parameters only, but this development has helped in further utilization of GPS-TDS for real time quality monitoring by improving ROM grade prediction and scheduling from several ore blocks in active mining areas. "IT enabled platforms are the key to provide an integrated view of the business activity or an enterprise as a whole. Attempts to integrate all functions in an enterprise such as mine-to-market initiatives, wherever and to whatever extent implemented, have provided significant benefits to the industry. The transformative potential of IT enabled integration platforms is illustrated in this communication from our own work in this field. TCS PREMAP (Platform for the Realization of Materials and Products) is a knowledge-driven engineering design and development platform which leverages modeling and simulation and artificial intelligence into the engineering design process. We illustrate the customization of this generic platform for the design and optimization of mineral processing plants in an integrated manner. TCS PEACOCK (Process and Equipment Analytics for Optimization and Control) has been developed to enable automation of data analytics in the operating plants. We illustrate its utility and power in improving the plant performance with the help of case studies from our work on pelletization of iron ores and optimization of flotation plants. INTRODUCTION We are living in an exciting digital era. With the advent of cloud computing and social media on the one hand and rapid advances being made in several research areas of interest to us in the minerals and metals industry such as artificial intelligence (AI) & machine learning, robotics, unmanned vehicles including drones, big data analytics, 3D printing, sensor technologies, renewable energies and internet of things (IoT), many disruptive transformations in our industry are on the horizon. Recent advances in information technology (IT) and knowledge engineering, in combination with appropriate domain expertise, that is, our enhanced understanding of the underlying science of mining and mineral processing operations and the availability of a variety of powerful modeling-simulation tools make it possible to address the challenging problems facing the mining and mineral processing industry, in an integrated manner."

Incomplete liberation of mineral particles is one of the key factors limiting the performance of industrial flotation circuits. This work aims to quantify the relationship between different breakage modes and how these affect mineral liberation properties. A copper porphyry (bornite) ore sample was subjected to breakage using a piston-die compression unit and an impact mill. The particles produced as a result of each mode of breakage were then characterised using Mineral Liberation Analysis (MLA) to quantify the mineralogical and liberation properties of the progeny particles. The impact mill was found to produce bornite that was finer grained relative to the host particles. In con-trast, bornite discharged from the piston-die unit closely followed the size distribution of the host particles and was retained to a greater extent in the larger/intermediate size fractions. The results provide insight into what breakage methods are optimal for the purposes of downstream separation.

An investigation into the hydrophobic aggregation of ultrafine smithsonite in surfactant solution has been undertaken through a combination of hydrophobic flocculation experiments, zeta potential measurements, surface tension measurements, and contact angle measurements. The experimental results have revealed that the behaviors of hydrophobic aggregation were closely correlated with the particle hydrophobicity, but they were not lowered byte change of the particle surface charges due to surfactants adsorption. On the other hand, the liquid (solution) surface tension (?LV) plays an important role in hydrophobic aggregation, and the hydrophobic aggregation could not occur below the critical liquid (solution) surface tension (?c). Meanwhile, this flocculation has been observed to require sufficient stirring strength and magnitudes of kinetic energy input to achieve the maximum aggregation degree. From the microflotation results, it has been found that the flotation kinetics response of smithsonite fines is markedly improved due to sufficient stirring strength, and the stirring strength influenced the floc flotation in a manner quite similar to their influence on the hydrophobic aggregation, suggesting that the formation of hydrophobic flocs is a promising means to recover smithsonite in the fine size range.

The interest in investigating the processing characteristics of mineral deposits in Norway has seen an upsurge in the last decade. One of the major areas of interest is a huge copper deposit, operated by NUSSIR ASA located in the Repparfjord Tectonic Window in the caledonides of west Finnmark. This study reports analysis of ore from the deposit for development and modifications in the flotation flowsheet for the NUSSIR ASA copper ore. The mineralogical characterization for the ore sample was achived by optical microscopy and Zeiss automated mineralogy while grinding characteristics were tested using Bond Index tests. The results confirmed the presence of Cu minerals in the form of chalcocite, chalcopyrite and bornite in the samples, which are mainly liberated in the – 105 µm size range. The majority of non-liberated copper sulphides associated with silica and the carbonates varies from 3 to 28 percent in the –250 µm samples . It is also observed that the copper minerals are uniformly distributed in all size ranges. Selective flotation of NUSSIR copper ore was performed in different size fractions with a motive to identify the correct liberation size and thus to obtain a copper concentrate meeting the quality requirements. The flotation experiments are essentially performed in two stages: the rougher and the cleaner stage. Mass balance calculations were performed showing that approximately 88 percent of copper can be obtained at the end of the process. Ultimately, overall circuit copper recoveries ranged between 83.5 to 88.1 % with a concentrate grade of 35 to 48 % Cu.

According to the Darcy?s law, filtration rate should increase with increasing pressure drop (?P) across a filter cake. In centrifugal filtration, ?P is created by the free water present on the surface of a filter cake. Thus, ?P can become negative when the free water disappears from the cake surface, which makes it difficult to achieve low cake moistures. In the present work, we have developed methods of overcoming this problem by either increasing the air pressure inside or applying vacuum outside a centrifuge. Laboratory dewatering tests conducted using these provisions showed that the moistures of various minerals and coal fines can be reduced to the level that can obviate the need for thermal drying. The new concept has been successfully tested both at pilot- and full-scale, which lead to commercial deployment through Decanter Machine, Inc., under the trade name Centribaric® centrifuge. Flotation froth machine vision systems provide consistent real-time measurements pertaining to the state of the flotation cell being monitored. Typical measurements include froth velocity, froth colour, froth texture and froth stability. This paper presents the results from test work conducted on the molybdenite rougher circuit at the Kennecott Utah Copper Concentrator during February 2006. Machine vision results show that it is not possible to accurately determine bubble size distribution information for the molybdenite froth, despite using state-of-the-art methods. Instead, it is necessary to make use of texture measurements to classify the various different froth states. Numerous combinations of texture measurements and classifiers are used to determine the best combination. Results show that the Fourier ring based texture measurements perform the best when both K nearest neighbour and Gaussian mixture model classifiers are used. The concentrate grade of the flotation cell is modelled using combinations of froth velocity and froth texture descriptors. The results show that by using a linear combination of these descriptors rather than either one by itself it is possible to account for a much larger percentage of the variation observed in the concentrate grade data. Adjusted R2 values of 92% and 84% are achieved when modelling the copper and the molybdenite concentrate grade respectively.

With the increase in world population, the requirement of natural resources is increasing every day. The nature is still stronger than man is but we must use natural resources more responsibly. The key to our well being is sustainable development Development effort for human well being may have adverse impact on the environment also. To keep the net impact positive is critical for sustainable development. For mineral processing industry, the value of a mineral is in the actual value as perceived by the end user. The process designs, investments in technology development all have direct relationship with the value of use and making a net positive impact on our ecosystem The value proposition has shifted towards raw materials and is a big differentiator. The availability of good quality raw material is difficult or is available at a premium. The challenge today is to develop green technologies that make effective and efficient usage of low grade raw materials The low grade raw materials as available pose a significant opportunity for human race for delivering value. They offer an easier reach to a value as perceived in end use but the journey is full of challenges. The first challenge is development of technology for maximizing grade recovery as required by the downstream process. The second challenge is to make the technology viable so that it contributes value to end use and the third challenge is to keep the net impact of the process positive The mining and mineral processing fraternity, being at the beginning of this value chain is set to take the first step in this journey for a tryst with ultimate human well being. This study examines the surface alteration and flotation behaviour of synthetic moncheite, PtPd(BiTe)2, in the presence of pentlandite. The telluride minerals contribute around 20% ~ 30% and up to 45% of the PGM present in the Platreef ore and are considered to be slow floating as there is evidence of these minerals reporting to the tailings. It was proposed that oxidation products from other minerals and grinding media would affect the mineral surface composition and floatability thereby causing inadvertent depression of moncheite due to precipitating ions. ToF-SIMS analyses (time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry) was used to characterise the mineral surface as well as the extent of surface alteration. Microflotation was used to deter-mine the hydrophobicity of the synthetic minerals. Conditioning of moncheite in the presence of pentlandite reduced the flotation response of the + 38 -106µm size fraction from > 99% to 56%. This was due to pentlandite dissolution products (iron and nickel hydroxy species) which formed overlayers on the mineral surfaces thereby inhibiting the adsorption of collector. In addition, further grinding of these samples, with and without pentlandite conditioning showed a negative effect on recovery due to the fineness of the particle size distribution and there was no advantage gained from any possible exposure of fresh sites in the sample.

"Among the problems of the civilization development, a problem of interaction between man and natural environment can be highlighted. In the twentieth century the human transforming activity had got scales of geological processes and defined the contradiction between the goal to increase the quality of human life and possibilities of the natural environment. Last twenty-five years after the World Summit on the Environment (1992) indicate that the development of civilization is still based on receiving super profits from the natural resources exploitation. This statement is confirmed by economy globalization rates, growing contradictions between consumption and production, depletion and degradation natural environment. A new technological order is formed at the time of growing world population, technological capacities, organizational complexity, from one side, and global scales of geo-resources consumption, on the other side. Sciences, determining the further civilization development, should take on the task to change the social worldview, since the preservation of human population consists in remediating and maintenance of biosphere functions as a regulator of ecological balance. The new worldview in the geo-resources exploitation is based on the Ecological strategy of mining development, which consists in reducing mining-induced loading on natural environment while increasing efficient mineral production and processing, and providing for a comprehensive solution of tasks on mineral deposit development. One of strategic trend of mining development is to increase complexity and completeness of useful component extraction from ore and mining deposits while reducing wastes and decreasing their stockpiled volumes. The implementation of the ecological strategy has shown that the future is determined by reduction of the environmental impact while improving the efficiency of mineral mining and processing.INTRODUCTION The global nature of environmental problems caused by the scale of consumption of natural resources, huge amounts of waste, and intensive man-made impact on the environment requires a revision of the strategy for the natural resources development. Many existing technologies are ineffective in achieving the ultimate goal. Direct output in the raw materials - the end product technological chain rarely exceeds 10%, which implies a huge amount of work to move the soil. In addition, the feature of scientific and technological progress at the present stage is the growth of power-to-weight ratio."

"Tatasteel’s West Bokaro washery#3 is designed to deslime raw coal at 0.5mm; the oversize (+0.5mm) is beneficiated in dense media cyclones (DMC) while the undersize (-0.5mm) is beneficiated in froth flotation (FF) cells. Nearly, 80% of the raw coal feed reports to the DMC circuit consisting of four parallel streams. Presently, the performance of DMCs at washery#3 is interpreted by: (a) comparing the actual plant yield w.r.t the lab predicted yield and (b) misplacement of clean coal to middllings.However, the comparison between actual & lab predicted yield is fallacious given the fact that the lab predicts yield of the borehole sample while the feed received at the plant has different characteristics altogether due to the dilution during mining. To mitigate the said limitations, a quick diagnosis tool using the past data has been developed that will give a prediction of performance of different coal seams in the DMCs, inputs being feed ash to DMCs and stream wise feed specific gravity (coal & magnetite combined).The tool also will help in identifying the root cause on real time basis thereby helping the operator to take necessary corrective actions. The operator can intimate the mining personnel in cases of shale reporting to the feed as a result of dilution during mining. In events of higher standard deviations between the parallel streams w.r.t feed specific gravity, the operator can adjust the parameters accordingly to minimize the yield loss. INTRODUCTION West Bokaro came into existence in 1948, as an independent coal company, managed by M/S Anderson Wright. Tata Steel acquired the Company in 1956 to meet its requirement of metallurgical grade coal for Iron making. Subsequently, in 1976, it was made a division of Tata Steel. In 1974, when coal mines were nationalized, West Bokaro was exempted as it produced coal only for captive consumption of the Steel Works. The first washery of India was set up in West Bokaro. The business objective of the West Bokaro division is to produce clean coal at optimum cost for captive use in the steel plant of Tata Steel at Jamshedpur. The strategy is to reduce ash with minimum loss of yield so that quality of coal improves and yet the cost is beneficial vis-a vis imported coal. The primary product is the metallurgical grade coal for coke ovens, which converts coal into coke for use in the Blast Furnaces."

The productivity index of the Coopracarcegua Ltda., a mid-size coal mining company of Norte de Santander, Colombia, was related absenteeism using accident, productivity and profit data four years. The analysis was based on type, severity and frequency of accidents, number of absentee days; price per metric ton, and other relevant parameters. The enterprise is formed by 5 different mines of thermic coal, each one with different exploitation technologies and different productivity. Each mine was analysed separately and the loss of profit due to absenteeism was calculate for each one. The study showed that the foregone earnings due to absenteeism in terms of the whole productivity of the enterprise was about of 6.6% of the total profit average the 4 years, with calculated values of 14.7%, 3.5%, 8.4% and 4% per year in the evaluated period. The study identified that the most important cause of absenteeism was "General Disease". The foregone earnings in 2009, the highest loss for the analysed period, was about US$ 0.937 million and during the whole evaluated period was US$ 2.46 million.

"In case of free gold presence in ore, there is always problem of a choice between the gravity-flotation and gravity separation flowsheets. Study of morphology of gold being extracted by different methods allows to find the most efficient solution. One of the latest methods of gold concentration for wide range of grain size (-0.8+0 mm) is a flash flotation. The paper presents comparative testing results of flash and centrifugal separation.The goal of the studies was to determine process and flotation parameters of flash flotation. In case valued minerals are soft if compared to host rock, such minerals tend to concentrate into circulating load of grinding circuit. Thus, valued minerals can be overground, and in turn, will result in low extraction in flotation circuit. Integration of flash flotation operation into process flowsheet has been evaluated. Flash flotation operation can be successfully used not only for gold but also copper, lead, nickel and silver minerals.With low-sulphide ores being a case study under laboratory conditions, various flotation (impeller rotational speed, air flowrate) and process (pulp density, collector consumption, frother consumption, time of flotation) parameters were studied in view of its impact on gold flash flotation. Experiments were carried out under laboratory conditions using special pneumatic mechanical flotation machines.INTRODUCTIONGravity separation is used for extraction of coarse gold before cyanidation and before flotation of polymetallic ores to increase gold total recovery into gravity copper and lead concentrates.Benefit of the flash flotation is efficient recovery of coarse gold carrier particles (sulphides) thus preventing its regrinding and, as a result, low recovery. Furthermore, combination of flash and conventional flotation results in final tailings that do not require further cyanidation.Combined gravity-flotation flowsheets are designed for concentration of ores containing gold within thewide range of grain sizes (see Table 1)."

Yunnan mineral is a kind of containing Ta-Nb rare earth deposit, the most potential economic valuable element in it is Sc, and raw mineral has 17.0 g/t Sc. Take the character of Sc into account, the key problem in producing scandium chloride molten salt by adaptive technology is how to man-ufacturer anhydrous scandium chloride molten salt. During the course above, the key problem is that preventing Scandium chloride from being hy-drolyzed into ScOCl. The ScOCl content of molten salt not only affect purifying scandium but al-so do harm to the production of Mg-Al alloy. In order to restrain the creation of ScOCl, add ammo-nium chloride into molten salt. As long as ScOCl is created, it would be chloridized. Thus, during the course of dehydrating anhydrous chloride molten salt this method prevents scandium from hydrolyzing. Accordingly, the key phase of this producing course is eliminate ammonium chloride and the surplus crystal water, and the most crucial of it is restrain scandium chloride from being hydrolyzed into ScOCl. This research analyzed the theory that ammonium chloride is trend to be hydrolyzed into ammo-nium chloride, and propose the research scheme of restraining this process from creating ScOCl. The new process of restraining the generating of ScOCl and dehydration for crystal water rare earth chloride is adopted: Inert gas temperature increases rapidly to a certain degree to eliminate ammonium chloride and crystal water. The experimental research were done such as : the temperature of eliminating ammonium chloride and crystal water, amount of ammonium chloride, time, temperature growth speed, influence of inert gas flow toward to scandium percent hydrolysis, whereby, we conclude the optimal process condition in this period: Temperature: 400°C, proportion of oxidized scandium and ammonium chloride is 1:1.5(Proportion of oxidized scandium and additional salt is 1:5.4), time is 120minute, temperature growth speed is 10?/min inert gas flow is 5L/min.
