The results of the test work on gold leaching using high strength of cyanide solution in the presence of activators are presented. The major physical and chemical relationships of gold leaching were determined. Intensive cyanidation results of gravity concentrates with various material compositions using an activator are given. In the Bayer process, control of alumina trihydrate particle size, oxalate stability and morphology and foaming is crucial for improving the yield and quality of alumina trihydrate. One way to economically achieve such control is to employ specifically developed chemical additives, termed, crystal growth modifiers (CGM?s). In this paper, the mechanism of action and practical application of CGM?s in the Bayer process are summarized. The application of CGM additives allows for both enhanced agglomeration and secondary nucleation control, and hence coarsening of the particles. Current research efforts have utilized the information gained from mechanistic studies to enhance the performance of CGM products. It was demonstrated in both laboratory tests and industrial operations that the newly developed CGM formulations have a range of properties with enhanced performance, compared to the current commercial products.

The shortage of water supply in some regions of the globe is particularly problematic and forces mining companies to adopt alternatives like pumping sea water from the ocean up to the mining sites. Although deaeration of sea water or the use of lined pipelines are known options to prevent corrosion during pumping, a recent development of a new corrosion inhibitor allowed the use of simple mild steel pipelines for this purpose. The objective of this study is to demonstrate the recent advances of this technology in protecting against not only general corrosion but localized corrosion, main cause of corrosion-related pipeline failures. Corrosion studies were carried out using electrochemical techniques, weight loss balance as well microscopy surface analysis in order to measure and therefore evaluate the treatment efficiency. The right dosage of corrosion inhibitors may vary depending on water composition and characteristics of each system. Differences were observed depending on the sea water source. Pretreatment of metallic surface impacts the observed corrosion rate which can be as low as 3.6 mpy. The absence of pitting or localized corrosion was achieved in aerated seawater.

"The paper supports applicability of satellite imagery at regional and local level for rapid quantitative assessment of natural environment in zones of activity of mining complex enterprises. Exacerbation of environmental problems during mineral mining and processing associated with their scale and geography of field distribution through the vast territory of our country requires constant monitoring of natural environment status, which necessitates engagement of space surveillance nowadays. It is proposed to use the monitoring of land cover and land use at regional and local level for the environmental assessment of a particular production or complex productions. You must establish the dependence of NDVI change trend with the magnitude of anthropogenic impact on the source or multiple sources of environmental pollution a particular area.. We present the results of studies of vegetation remote sensing methods in a number of territories placing mining enterprises. INTRODUCTION Ensuring a healthy environment is necessary both in untouched areas and disturbed. The condition of the developed territories should be monitored with particular attention, since the restoration of the disturbed territories requires great efforts and financial costs. More narrowly, the health of the environment (Zakharov V.M. and etc.,2001) means its quality ensuring the health of man and other species of living organisms, which includes two aspects (Zakharov V.M. and etc, 2000): - ensuring an environment conducive to human health as a biological species: - maintaining the health of the natural environment, i.e. its constituent species of living organisms and plants. The consequence is the disturbance of natural ecosystems, which determines the quality of the environment, favorable for human habitation and the state of health of the population in total determine the status of the territories where enterprises for the development of georesources are located and allow them to be ranked according to the degree of environmental danger. Without knowledge of the trajectory of ecosystem successions, it is impossible to offer adequate requirements for the technologies used to ensure the implementation of the preserved natural potential after the removal or reduction of man-made stress."

Hydrothermal method was applied in the preparation of calcium sulfate whiskers in airtight re-actor using gypsum as primary materials. The optimum conditions of preparation are as follows: pH value 9.8~10.1, concentration 5%, material size 18.1µm, which were determined by the analysis of the diameter of CaSO4 whiskers through SEM. On these conditions a product of ultrafine CaSO4 whiskers with diameter of 0.19µm and aspect ratio of 98 is obtained. Ultrafine CaSO4 whiskers with different concentrations, modified by titanate NDZ-401, were added into polypropylene as intensifier and composites of Ultrafine CaSO4 whiskers/ polypropylene were prepared by melting-extruding method. Mechanical performance of the composites was tested and surface morphology of the composites was observed by SEM. The results indicated that impact notched izod of the composites was enhanced by 49.5% compared with pure polypropylene when 10.0% Ultrafine CaSO4 whiskers were added into polypropylene and toughening effect was very remarkable. Dispersion behaviour and interface phenomenon of Ultrafine CaSO4 whiskers in polypropylene matrix were investigated by SEM. The results indicated that Dispersion performance of Ultrafine CaSO4 whiskers modified by titanate NDZ-401 in polypropylene matrix is good, which improved mechanical performance of composites to some extent.

Thiosulfate as an alternative lixiviant for gold has received much attention in recent years due to the growing environmental concerns over the use of cyanide. Cu(II) is used to catalyze the oxidation of gold and ammonia is to stabilize Cu(II) in alkaline solution. However, the presence of Cu(II) enhances the oxidative degradation of thiosulfate. The high consumption of reagents has made thiosulfate leaching uneconomical to date, in comparison with cyanide leaching. Therefore, further investigations are required to leaching under low reagent concentrations over extended periods where reagent consumption is low and gold leaching rate is low as well. It is thus necessary to find additives to enhance gold dissolution in the thiosulfate leaching system. Electrochemical studies using rotating gold disc showed that the oxidation of gold in ammoniacal thiosulfate solution increased significantly in the presence of a small amount of thiourea and the beneficial effect increased with an increase in the thiourea concentration up to 7.2 mM. Thiourea improved gold extraction in the thiosulfate leaching of gold from a sulfide ore under low reagent concentrations. Excessive addition of thiourea inhibited the leaching of the gold ore. The decomposition of thiosulfate was reduced with the presence of thiourea. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) results indicated that thiou-rea likely decomposed to sulfide and formed gold sulfide species at the gold surface.

"The present paper contains study results of gold morphology and grain size distribution in flotation concentrates produced from original ore samples from deposits of different genesis. Pre-concentration methods were used with selective dissolution of rock minerals and mineral heavy medium separation to obtain statistically valid data on gold grain size and morphology in concentration products. Special attention is given to study of flash flotation concentrates that is mainly used for coarse gold, underextracted in gravity circuit. Analysis of geometrical optics has allowed to establish that during flash flotation gold grains more than 150 µm can be extracted from 10 to 35%, and in some cases single gold grains above 300 µm. INTRODUCTION Distinctive features of gold that have a significant impact, and in some cases, decisive influence on its recovery into saleable products are mineral shape, grain size and morphology of metal particles, paragenetic associations of gold. Peculiar feature of coarse gold is its easy extraction during grinding from associated mineral components like quartz, sulphide and other and almost complete recovery into gravity concentrates (Lodeischikov V.V., 1997). Morphology of native gold is so diverse that different gold grains are better extracted using different methods of concentration. Compacted and rounded particles are easily processed using gravity concentration but low cyanidable and hard to process using flotation. On the contrary, lamellar, flake, dendrite and capillary aggregates of high specific surface are easily cyanidable and under definite conditions it has strong floatability (Lodeischikov V.V., 1997). Flotation of gold-containing sulphide minerals and free gold takes place simultaneously during flotation concentration. In case of low-sulphide ores, native gold takes the basic load, having the high density (15.6 to 18.3 g/cm3, for pure gold – 19.3 g/cm3) it has limited size and morphology for successful flotation. It is known that flake gold and fine-grained gold up to 0.1 mm are easily extracted (Lodeischikov V.V., 1997). Authors of the present paper performed a study of gold granulometry and morphology in flotation concentrates produced from gold-containing ores from two deposits of different types: gold-copper oxidized hematite ores and low-sulphide gold-quartz ores. Ores are different by both host rock composition, mineralogical and petrographic features, gold grade in mineral assemblage and morphology and size of precious metal. Common for both ore types is low-sulphide content and presence of free gold."

It is a well-known fact that usage of reverse cationic flotation in magnetite ores processing enables to improve the quality of magnetite concentrates. We designed an iron ore concentrate technology (with 70 -71 % of iron) including reverse cationic flotation in pneumo-mechanical flotators RIF (developed by RIVS Corporation, Russia) with good biodegradable etheramines as collectors for flotation of quartz. Practical application of high biodegradable flotation reagents decreases environmental impact risk of objects and enterprises of mining industrial complex. This work presents results of development of flotation technology for production of high quality ferruginous concentrates from magnetite ores of Russia and Ukraine deposits. Beneficiation of the pyrite concentrate of the Kastomonu-Küre (Northern Turkey) copper ore seems to be attractive due to its high Cu, Co, and Zn contents. Pyrite concentrate were used in the experimental studies. Cu, Co, and Zn were recovered from the concentrate by the sulphatizing roasting, leaching and the precipitation using H2S. Sulphatizing roasting experiments were carried out in a rotary furnace and the optimal roasting conditions were found to be at 650°C roasting temperature and 3.0 h roasting period and addition of Na2SO4 of 3 % for the concentrate containing 0.58% Cu, 0.22% Co, and 0.04% Zn. Then, the roasted product was repeatedly leached with 10 g/L H2SO4 solution. Optimal conditions were found to be 60 oC leaching temperature, 2 h leaching period, and 30% pulp density. Leaching efficiencies for Cu and Co were over 99 %. The valuable metals in the pregnant solution were selectively precipitated by H2S as sulfides. Selective precipitation of Cu, Zn, Co was achieved by adjusting the pH and the temperature of the leach solution. Final metal recoveries of 99.20% Cu, 99.40% Co, and 95.60% Zn were attained. The precipitated sulphides are marketable products. Roasting gases with their 15% SO2 content are suitable for the production of H2SO4 and the leach residues can be integrated with the iron ore processing plant as they contain 57.50 % Fe, 17.70% gangue (SiO2, CaO, etc.), 0.04% S, and 0.06% non-ferrous metals.

"Mikhailovskoye Deposit is comprised of oxidized ferruginous quartzites among other minerals with the former widely spread across the ore field and mined along with unoxidized ferruginous quartzites. PJSC Mikhailovsky GOK strategic development is aimed at iron ore product output expansion. The most critical item of the strategic development road map is process design for separation and concentration of hematite contained in oxidized ferruginous quartzites mined as the by-product in the open pit. Laboratory and semi-industrial tests run to design cost-effective, reliable and environmentally friendly process for Mikhailovskoye deposit oxide quartzites processing included the following processes: - pilot tests of reverse anionic flotation which produced concentrate with Fe60.1-62.9% total iron content and 66-69%Fe recovery rate; - combined magnetic separation and flotation (Marubeni Company, 1982) including slime removal, reverse anionic and cationic flotation and high gradient magnetic separation resulting in 48.9% yield, Fe55-57.5%, up to Fe60.5% hematite concentration ( Fe64.1% being the best result achieved),76.2% recovery. - magnetic separation and flotation, including separation in low gradient (1400 Oe) and high gradient (up to 17000-18000 Oe) magnetic field. The results of these pilots tests were the following: 57-59%Fe concentrate, 70%Fe recovery (Mekhanobrchermet, MGOK, 1982-1988): - magnetic roasting in pilot plant of TSGOK (Krivoy Rog) which produced 61.1%Fe concentrate with 81.5% recovery. Major disadvantage of the method is high generation of dust equal to 20% of the initial feed. Based on third-party studies flotation of oxidized ferruginous quartzites process embracing best processing methods was designed by Metalloinvest Management Company LLC and PJSC Mikhailovsky GOK engineers. This paper discusses analysis of studies aimed at intensification of separation processes with application of mechanical slurry agitation (MSA), addition of alkali (NaOH) and elutriation of initial feed. The paper also provides a design solution to implement a lab-scale MSA plant. It includes feasibility evaluation of MSA inclusion in flotation of oxidized ferruginous quartzites process to enable higher yield and hematite recovery in resultant concentrate. Outcomes of the discussed work have significant value for prospective engineering of OFQ concentration process."

There are some problems in the beneficiation of fine-grained oxidized iron mineral such as high cost, severe sliming, poor results and low recovery due to the fine disseminated size of the mineral. Taking several representative types of finely-disseminated oxidized iron minerals as examples, the author analyzed the main difficulties in the beneficiation of such kind of ores and discussed the existing problems in grinding-classification, technological process, flotation reagents and separation equipments and the resolvents of these problems.

"This article presents the results of comprehensive research on the quantitative distribution of gold content in the raw ore and tailings from the flotation enrichment process at the Ellatzite Med plant. The study is a quantitative and qualitative determination of the presence of gold in the ore processed by Ellatzite Med AD, as well as its behavior and distribution in the various metallurgical products of the flotation process. The representativeness of the samples taken is ensured by the frequency of sampling: four work shifts of sampling on different days within a period of four consecutive weeks. The form of gold present is determined both in the analyzed samples and in separate fractions - granulometric, magnetic, electromagnetic, heavy and light. A summarized diagram presents the phase distribution of gold in the final products of the dressing process. The results obtained are used for further analysis and evaluation of the actual technological parameters of the gold. It was established that an increase in the initial gold content, respectively in the content of native gold in the raw ore, with the current process, leads to an increase in gold losses, mostly in the native gold phase. The conducted analysis of the results from the comprehensive tests on determining the form of gold present in the various enrichment products gave rise to further research with the use of a Knelson centrifugal concentrator."

"The extractive metallurgy of precious metal ores involves gravity concentration, flotation and cyanide leaching. Pre-oxidation, such as roasting, autoclaving, bacterial oxidation and other techniques, is required for processing refractory ores. Selection of the process is mainly driven by the grade, reserve and mineralogy of the target elements. The concentrations of precious metals in the crust are extremely low and highly variable, resulting in ore variability in many gold, silver and PGE deposits. More importantly, precious metals in an ore may occur in two or three forms (i.e. microscopic, submicroscopic and surface-bound), making ore processing of precious metals extremely challenging. The objective of geometallurgy and process mineralogy is to reduce and minimize the technical risk in project evaluation, process selection, mine planning and production forecasting through geometallurgical modelling, representative sampling and subsequent systematic mineralogical characterization and metallurgical testwork. Geometallurgy is a technique to document variability within an orebody and quantify and evaluate the impact of many factors including geology and mineralogy on grinding, flotation, leaching and metal recovery processes, while mineralogy is one of the major predictive and trouble-shooting tools for many new mineral projects and operating mines. This paper presents an overview of fundamentals, methodologies and techniques applied in geometallurgy and process mineralogy and highlights the importance of both disciplines in process selection and plant optimization with applicable case studies. INTRODUCTION Precious metals, including gold, silver and platinum group elements (PGE) occur in various geological settings and ore types. The concentrations of these metals in the crust are extremely low and highly variable, resulting in ore variability in many gold, silver and PGE deposits. More importantly, precious metals in an ore may occur in two or three forms (i.e. microscopic, submicroscopic and surface-bound), making ore processing of precious metals extremely challenging. Process selection is most important in any precious metals project and is mainly driven by the grade, reserve and mineralogy of the target elements. Free-milling ores, such as Kupol in Russia, Hemlo in Canada, Grasburg in Indonesia, UG-2 in South Africa, Lac des Iles in Canada, and Noril’sk in Russia, can be processed using flotation or cyanidation with or without gravity. B2Gold Corp, a Canadian gold company, just started a number of new and under construction free-milling gold operations such as Fekola mill in Mali, Mastbati mine in Philippins and Otjikoto mine in Nambia. However, refractory ores (particularly gold ores), such as the Carlin and Goldstrike mines in the USA, Giant in Canada, Pueblo Viejo in Dominican Republic, Porgera and Lihire in PNG, Kittilla in Finland, Fairview in South Africa and Shuiyindong in China, must be processed using pre-oxidation prior to cyanide leaching. In some mildly refractory gold ores, such as Kumtor mine in Kyrgyzstan and KCGM in Australia, ultrafine grinding is required to liberate fine-grained gold particles. For some gold ores containing both free-milling and refractory components (such as Cripple Creek mine in Colorado, USA), two or more recovery processes may be required. The variability of grade, metal deportment, ore hardness and other parameters is one of the risks that encountered in development and operation of many precious metals projects. To minimize and reduce the technical risk caused by ore variability, geometallurgy and process mineralogy have been used by mining companies in the last two decades to measure and quantify the spatial variability of the deposits that are being developed. "In this investigation, a sponge gold sample (99.92% pure) has been leached with ammonium thiosulfate solution. The effects of CuSO4, (NH4)2S2O3, (NH4)2SO4, NH4OH and retention time on the gold leaching % (extraction %) and thiosulfate oxidation % (consumption %) have been studied. The copper ion acts as a catalyst in gold dissolution. On the other hand, it also accelerates oxidation of thiosulfate (consumption). It was found in this study that the best gold extraction condition was obtained at 43.2 ks with 0.8 - 1.0x103 mol/m3 (NH4)2S2O3, 30 mol/m3 CuSO4, 2.0 - 3.0x103 mol/m3 NH4OH, 0.4 - 0.5x103 mol/m3 (NH4)2SO4, pH 10±0.2 and 150 rpm. The thiosulfate oxidation was about 15% of the initial concentration.For gold recovery from the pregnant solution, the trioctylmethyl ammonium chloride (TOMAC) was used in this investigation as an extractant to extract gold from thiosulfate solution without pH and other adjustments. The effects of gold concentration, pH, ammonia, thiosulfate and cupric ionic concentrations, extractant and diluent concentrations and retention time on the gold recovery were investigated. It was found that 180 mol/m3 extractant diluted with n-octant at O/A ratio of 1:1 could extracted the 100% of gold in 0.6 ks from the thiosulfate solution at the optimal leaching conditions. The 100% gold stripping could be achieved with 10% thiourea solution."

Huge quantity of copper is lost in Crown, Sill, Rib Pillars, hanging wall, foot wall and unexploited ore bodies in several closed underground copper mines and old worked out stopes of Hindustan Copper Limited at Mosaboni and other places. These mines might have been uneconomical to work with conventional mining methods. However, huge quantity of mineral reserves is lost due to their closure. Chemical and in-situ bio-wash leaching, if tried can provide an answer to facilitate the recovery of metallic values economically. Encouraging results were obtained during an experiment at North Badia Mines at Mosabani in the past. Though the experiments were not completed but whatever results obtained were very encouraging and can be successfully tried to make it viable. The results of the experiments are discussed here and a plan is suggested to recover copper from such mines.

"The article presents the results of precious metals leaching using halogen solvents and their precipitation on a sorbent in the process of pressure oxidation. A technology of pressure oxidation – carbon-in-leach treatment (POX-CIL) of refractory sulphide gold-bearing flotation concentrates with the addition of a halogen solvent and a sorbent was developed based on the laboratory studies and pilot plant tests. The technology involves the following steps: oxidation of a flotation concentrate; precious metals dissolution and recovery on a sorbent; precious metals elution; electrolysis of eluates; smelting of cathode precipitates with producing Dore beads. This approach ensures oxidation at least 98% of sulphides and gold of more than 95%. The POX-CIL process have the following patents: a patent of the Eurasian Patent Organization No.017438 “A method of processing materials containing precious metals and sulphides” and a patent of the Russian Federation No.2625146 “A method of precious metals recovery from refractory sulphide gold-bearing materials”.INTRODUCTION Gold-bearing ores are classified as readily amenable to cyanidation, or non-refractory, and not readily amenable to cyanidation, or refractory [1]. Special attention should be given to the three most common technological types of gold-bearing ore materials, according to the Irgiredmet’s classification: pyrite-arsenopyrite ores with finely disseminated gold locked in sulphides (physical depression of gold in cyanidation process); cupriferous gold-bearing ores, when cyanidation comes along with chemical depression of gold by mineral compounds (cyanisides); carbonaceous ores showing higher sorption activity to precious metals dissolved in cyanide. Direct cyanidation of refractory sulphide gold-bearing materials does not provide high recovery of precious metals. There are the following methods of refractory gold-bearing ores and concentrates preparation to subsequent gold recovery: roasting, fine grinding, bacterial and pressure oxidation (POX) [2]. Existing POX-cyanidation flowsheets involve high costs due to a large amount of process operations and using expensive and environmentally hazardous sodium cyanide."

"INTRIDUCTION At present, more and more metallized raw materials with a metallization degree of not less than 80% are used in the smelting of steel. The main quantity of this raw material is produced in furnaces of mine type. Advantages of this type of raw materials for metallurgical processing are low levels of harmful and slag-forming impurities and a high content of metallic iron. At the same time, the cost of smelting raw materials and obtaining high-quality steels are reduced. In addition to the undoubted merits of metallized raw materials, there are high requirements for the quality of iron concentrates, which are the starting material for metallization: the mass fraction of acidic oxides should not exceed 3%; The mass fraction of iron should not be less than 69%, mass fractions of harmful impurities (phosphorus, arsenic, sulfur, copper, etc.) should not exceed 0.02%. These requirements are dictated by the fact that the recovery of burned pellets is carried out by gas in a solid phase. In this case, the empty rock and harmful impurities from the metal are not separated and sent to the steelmaking unit, increasing the heat consumption for heating and worsening the quality of the steel. The combined production of high-quality concentrate and metallized raw materials requires a large capital outlay from the enterprise, which in the future can be compensated for by increased profit from the sale of more expensive marketable products. At present, in the territory of Russia and the CIS countries Lebedinsky mining-and-processing integrated works is the only enterprise that carries out the entire chain of operations for the production of metallized raw materials, starting with the production of high-quality magnetite concentrate with a mass fraction of iron of 69.5% and ending with the production of a metallized product in the form of hot briquetted gland. JSC «SSGPO» is the largest iron-processing enterprise in Kazakhstan, which processes about 40 million tons of ore per year and receives 16 million tons of concentrate per year with a mass fraction of iron 66.0-66.5%. The technological scheme existing at the concentrator of JSC ""SSGPO"" includes the crushing of the feed ore to the size of 20-0 mm; dry magnetic separation operation; three reduction stages to a fineness of 90-95% kl-0.071 mm; operation of desliming, wet magnetic separation and filtration of the concentrate. Dry magnetic separation of the feed ore makes it possible to remove from the process of 19.6% of the tailings with a mass fraction of the total iron 12.5%, of magnetite 2.2%. The first reduction stage is carried out in rod mills with the volume of 40 m3 to a size of -1.6 + 0.0 mm. The first stage of wet magnetic separation is carried out in counterflow magnetic separators PBM-P-150/200L. The magnetic product of the first stage of WMS is classified in hydrocyclones; sands enter the second reduction stage into central discharge ball mill 3600 × 5000. Runoff of mills enter on the second enrichment stage in counterflow magnetic separators PBM-P-150/200L. The magnetic product enters the classification of the second stage, forming a closed cycle. Mass fraction of the class -0.071 + 0 mm in classifications runoff of the second stage is 70-75%. The second stage classifications runoff is transported toWMS-III operation in semi-counter separators PBM-PP-120/300. The magnetic product of the third stage enters the classification of the third stage. Granular residue are transported to the reduction of the third stage into central discharge ball mill 3600 × 5000. The mill runoff enters the third stage of classification, forming a closed cycle. Classifications runoff of the third stage enters on deslimation. Deslimed product is sent for fine screening to the crasher «Derrick» 2SG48-60W-5STK with a cell size of 0.1 mm. Top size of crasher is sent to regrinding. Undersize with a mass fraction of the class -0.071 + 0 mm 90-95% is fed to the wet magnetic separation of WMS-"

"This paper considers the issue of treating argillaceous oxidized ores with low gold grade (around 1.0 g/t). These ores according to their gold recovery level can be treated by heap leaching and agitation cyanide leaching, but low gold grade makes this treatment uneconomic. Heap leaching of argillaceous ores requires high consumption of binding agent for pelletizing to create suitable hydro-physical properties of material, which leads to increasing process cost and makes the material treatment unprofitable. Agitation cyanide leaching of this ore requires grinding processes; these expenses would not be paid back by the amount of gold recovered. Considering the above, poor argillaceous oxidized ores are recommended to be treated according to a combined technology including fractionation of ore, heap leaching of coarse fraction and agitation leaching of argillaceous fraction. Complex approach application allows one to avoid expenses incurred for material grinding and high consumption of binding agent for pelletizing. The success of this technology implementation will firstly depend on the quality of material fractionation, therefore the section of disintegration and division of ore into different components will be the most important part of flowsheet development for gold production. When disintegrating minerals at positive temperatures both standard (mechanical disintegration - scrubbers) and innovative (hydraulic method of disintegration - HydroClean units) equipment is applicable. HydroClean units are characterized by lower energy and water consumption. In a number of cases it is required to treat frozen ores. When treating frozen material standard approaches to disintegration are not reasonable due to their low efficiency. In order to treat frozen material a two stage disintegration flowsheet with screening after each stage is recommended. The first stage is recommended to be performed in a scrubber, the second - in a HydroClean unit. This technological flowsheet will provide high and steady values for ore separation into fractions at low energy consumption for disintegration."

"Integrated utilization of natural resources using energy-saving and waste-free technologies is relevant around the world. This applies to such type of raw material as titanium-magnetite ore. Shortage of ilmenite raw materials in the Republic of Kazakhstan for titanium slag melting challenges the search of alternative titanium-containing raw materials, titanomagnetites in particular. At the same time there are deposits of indigenous titanomagnetite ores of huge reserves, which can become the complex raw material for production of iron, titanium and vanadium. Tymlay field in the South-Eastern part of Chu-Ili watershed is of particular interest, within the Karasay ore unit with iron content of 30,4 and titanium dioxide - 10%, and after beneficiation titano-magnetite concentrate contains Fe-52,4; TiO2-of 16,06%. Technology of titanium-magnetite concentrate ore-thermal melting was developed at Tymlay deposit producing hot metal and low titanium slag that can become the raw material for titanium production using chloride method. Slag produced in course of titanomagnetite ore-smelting consists mainly of alumosilicates and sodium silico titanates, magnesium and calcium titanates, titanium dioxide and lower titanium oxides. Following operations were carried out to improve titanium slag quality: slag sintering with sodium hydroxide; cake leaching with water to remove water-soluble impurities; to reduce the number of operations impurities leaching with hydrochloric acid was combined with pyrohydrolysis of titanic acid; rutile concentrate production (85% TiO2, 7,66% SiO2), silica removal by means of sodium hydroxide solution treatment, finally sellable rutile concentrate was produced with titanium dioxide 91-92% and silica 1,7 to 2,0% content. Based on research results technological scheme of titano-magnetite concentrate processing at Tymlay deposit was proposed producing hot metal and certified rutile concentrate, suitable for chlorination."
