"Generation and removal of fines are considered in the context of the mill and classifier as a single-unit process in which grinding rates and mechanisms, mill residence time distribution, circulating load, and classifier performance all interact to effect the overall grinding circuit productivity. Required process design specifications are identified, and a computer assisted design procedure for application of hydrocyclones in closed circuit grinding is presented. This paper introduces the development and application of a new cable anchor - Cable-Lok for pre-stressed cable bolting in mines. Cable-Lok is a spring-loaded cable anchor suitable for the drill hole diameter of 50 and 65 mm (2" and 2.5") in medium soft rock to hard rocks. The cable anchor is automatically set on installation and the cable can be tensioned immediately to provide active and primary support throughout its length. Post-grouting can be conducted independently. In comparison with the conventional cable bolting, Cable-Lok anchor will greatly speed-up the cable bolting circle and decreases the cost of cable bolting. Cable bolting anchored with Cable-Lok anchor has wide application in mines, e.g. pre-stressed cable bolting in large span drifts and intersections for permanent rock support, or in hanging walls or stopes for temporary support, or cable lace anchoring etc. This paper introduces the principle of pre-stressed cable bolting and the specifications of the Cable-Lok anchor, presented the testing results in laboratory and the application cases in mines.

"In preparation for the milling of a new nickel and copper mine ore, Nickel Rim South, Xstrata’s Strathcona Mill is undertaking numerous process improvement projects. Within the grinding circuit, several projects are under development and an automated grinding control strategy, consistent with the operating objectives, was identified as a key requirement. The grinding strategy is to maximize the throughput (quantitative objective) while maintaining the cyclone overflow within specifications (qualitative objective).This paper describes the implementation of a robust grinding control strategy using the existing control system. The implemented controls maintain the cyclone overflow density at the desired target, while continually optimising the rod mill feed rate to allow maximum throughput. This approach has the added benefit of improving the stability of the rougher flotation circuit down stream of the grinding and improving energy efficiency of the rod and primary ball mills. This paper discusses the comparison of the before and after the implementation of results.INTRODUCTIONThe grinding process is a size reduction operation used in the mining industry to liberate the valuable minerals from the gangue. Grinding is one of the most important and expensive processes in a concentrator (Xi-song, 2007; Pomerleau 2000; Najim 1995), often accounting for around half of the total operating costs in base metal concentrators (Wills, 1990), which has led to a focus on development and implementation of control and optimisation strategies. The grinding process prepares the ore for the subsequent concentration step, which for sulphide base metal operations, is predominantly flotation. The performance of the concentration (flotation) is very much determined by the feed characteristics of the slurry coming from grinding. The valuable minerals recovery process in flotation is very much influenced by the grinding process and the liberation of the desired minerals from the gangue minerals (McIvor, 1991).The true objective of grinding is to obtain a proper liberation of the minerals as defined by a particle size distribution referenced typically by d80 (80% passing size of product). Besides achieving the desired mineral d80 size, it is clearly desirable to produce as narrow a size distribution as possible to squeeze the maximum amount of the mineral value into the highest recovery region (McIvor, 1991). This is an important criterion for the mill in economically optimizing the grade and recovery for the concentrate product. It is important not to over or under grind, while keeping the specific comminution energy as low as possible (Nunez, 2005) to achieve the target liberation. In other words, maintain an optimal throughput depending on the ore conditions to the capacity of the grinding mills, while providing the flotation process with a constant and narrow size distribution, at a cut size selected to meet the metallurgical requirements (Bascur, 1991)."

Many mines in Canada, the US and S. Africa are reaching the hoisting limit. Very little payload will be possible without compromising safety due the excessive weight. It has been suggested (DeLorme, 2000), that one of the most attractive concepts to enable deeper hoisting is to reduce the allowable factor of safety in the wire rope. Researchers at the Spokane Research Lab are developing new technology to improve hoisting safety and productivity by providing new monitoring and analytical tools. A Shaft Conveyance Monitoring System (SCMS) has been developed which determines hoist rope end load, true conveyance position and acceleration, and rope safety factor, as well as other hoist operating parameters. This information is transmitted to the hoist operator display 20 times per second. Recent field measurements on 45 mm(1 ¾ in.) diameter hoist rope indicate that dynamic forces during loading of a 9000 kg(10 ton) skip may exceed the safety factor of the rope. To improve on the current understanding of the mechanical behavior of hoist ropes, and to help interpret the results from field-testing of the SCMS, a new approach to computer modeling of stranded wire rope is also being developed. Particle Flow Code, PFC3D (Itasca 1995b) is used to simulate the structural behavior of wire rope and the interaction between individual strands when the rope is subjected to static and dynamic end loading. Details of the SCMS, field results from the measured rope loads, and the results of numerical modeling on the wire rope will be discussed.

This paper presents experimental evidence that supports the use of bromine/bromide as a potential alternative to conventional cyanidation for gold leaching. The study evaluated a brominebased lixiviant, Stabilized Bromine, with considerably lower vapour pressure than liquid bromine. Using a rotating device, the rate of gold dissolution was determined at various concentrations of this reagent. The reactivity of pure pyrite, arsenopyrite and chalcopyrite minerals was also evaluated in stabilized bromine reagent. Furthermore, bromine leaching of gold in a number of gold bearing ores was undertaken. Results showed that significantly higher gold recovery can be achieved with bromine than with cyanide when leaching gold encapsulated in sulphides, but bromine consumption was high owing to simultaneous oxidation of the sulphides. The greatest promise for the bromine leach process was with oxidized gold ores. The recovery of gold from oxide ores with bromine was comparable to that achievable with cyanide and bromine consumption was reasonable when leaching was conducted at a near neutral pH of ~6. In the case of oxidized gold ores containing copper mineralization, it is possible that bromine consumption may be lower than cyanide consumption, since there is evidence to suggest that bromine is less reactive than cyanide with copper minerals.

"The first recorded discovery of placer gold in Canada was on the Chaudiere River in Quebec's eastern townships in 1832 and the first major production came from placer deposits in British Columbia in 1858 (Verity 1974). Placer deposits were the major source of gold until the late 1890's, although lode deposits were found in Nova Scotia in 1862. In 1896 the Klondike Gold Rush commenced with the discovery of gold by Henderson and Carmack in the Yukon. The peak was reached in 1900 when over one million ounces of gold valued at approximately $22.3 million were recovered. With the exhaustion of the easily accessible deposits, more capital intensive operations were necessary such as those initiated in 1906 by the Yukon Gold Corporation. This giant dredging operation continued to produce until 1966. Today only a few small operations remain.The development of Canadian lode gold mining began in earnest around 1900 when the railroads were opening up the interior and western part of the country. At this time many discoveries occurred, particularly where mineral outcroppings were near surface. Tremendous impetus for exploration and the reopening of former producers followed the elimination of the gold standard by Great Britain around 1931, and more importantly the United States in 1933, with subsequent stabilization of the price of gold at $35 per ounce in 1934. Prior to this the price of gold was basically unchanged since 1717, approximately, $20 per ounce (Verity, 1974; Green, 1973).The depression of the 1930s adversely affected most industries, however for the gold producers it was a very profitable time. Prices of materials and equipment declined and labour was cheap and plentiful. Interest in gold mining was further stimulated in 1936 when a three year tax exemption was declared for all new metal mines. In 1938 a decline in the value of the Canadian dollar relative to the U.S. dollar benefitted the industry. The second world war provided yet again further incentive for gold production and in 1941 Canadian gold production reached a high of approximately 5.4 million ounces. This figure was not surpassed until 1991 when approximately 5.6 million ounces were produced (Natural Resources Canada, 1996 )."

A novel separation process for detoxifying cadmium-containing residues arising from zinc hydrometallurgical processes has been developed. An initial investigation indicated that a high concentration of zinc in the sulfate solution can be effectively separated from cadmium by solvent extraction with P204 (di(2-ethylhexly)phosphoric acid, D2EHPA). The mixture of sulfuric acid and ammonium citrate ((NH4)3C6H5O7) is thus used to extract metals from the residue at room temperature. Copper in the leachate is recovered by solvent extraction (SX) with LIX 973. Cobalt in the raffinate from the copper SX process is recovered by precipitation with a-nitroso-ß-naphthol. The results show that more than 50% of the copper and virtually all the zinc, cadmium and cobalt in the residue can be leached under the experimental conditions used here. Virtually all dissolved copper and cobalt can be recovered in the subsequent solvent extraction and precipitation processes. The presence of (NH4)3C6H5O7 could significantly facilitate the extraction of zinc by D2EHPA in the subsequent separation of zinc and cadmium. More than 97% of the dissolved zinc can be recovered through a two-stage counter current solvent extraction process. After separating copper, cobalt and zinc, cadmium can easily be recovered from the solution either by cementation with zinc powder or by electrowinning, while the purified solution can be recycled back to the leaching process.

The Otter-Juan mine was closed by WMC Resources? Kambalda Nickel Operations (WMC-KNO) in 1999 due to the combined effects of low Nickel prices and high mining costs. GBF Mining Pty Ltd purchased Otter-Juan Mine from WMC in early 2001 as part of WMC?s disinvestment from the nickel mines in the Kambalda area. Goldfields Mine Management (GMM), (a wholly owned subsidiary of GBF Pty Ltd) re-opened Otter-Juan in May 2001. The Otter-Juan mine is one of the oldest mines in the Kambalda region and is now mining at depths below 1160mbs. Stresses are very high, rock mass deformation considerable, and the mine has a history of serious seismic activity. Orebody widths in the current mining area range from 2 to 2.5m, with dips from 25° to 40°. On taking over the operation, GMM converted the mining method from the previous mechanised drift and fill method to a slot-rise and strip method using hand held airlegs. During the latter years of production under the control of WMC, production averaged around 12000 tonnes per month, with grades of 2.7% and orebody extraction of only 55 to 60%. In the last three years of operation under the control of GMM the mine has produced an average of 12000 tonnes per month of ore at an average grade of 4.2% and with an orebody extraction of 70 to 75%. The mine is now highly profitable with at least another 3 years of reserves remaining at depth. The main benefits of the current method include reduced dilution and increased extraction. In the relatively poor ground conditions experienced this has only been possible using airleg mining, with excavations designed to suit conditions, support to suit rockmass deformations, and with improved extraction sequencing. Other benefits have included improved operating conditions, reduced falls of ground incidents and a dramatic reduction in seismic activity. These achievements have only been possible by stepping back in time and using traditional airleg stoping methods to extract the maximum amount of the orebody with minimum dilution. This paper includes details of the mine history, geology, mining method, seismicity, and support.

"Best practice in the economic evaluation of mining projects and operations is based on the integration of geological, mining, metallurgical, environmental, marketing, economic and corporate information and strategies. Fundamentally, the economic evaluation takes into account mining, blending, stockpiling, processing, smelting, refining and marketing ore resources with grades estimated by geostatistical methodologies.Nevertheless, a realistic economic evaluation consists of a concurrent and integrated optimization process that maximizes the concentrates or products of liberated and selected ore minerals from mineral deposits. The optimum solution is obtained through a trade-off among mining, blending, stockpiling and processing ore reserves with distinct mineralogy and texture characteristics. The concurrent optimization determines both the practical mining sequence of ore reserves and the dynamic and robust mineral processing flowsheet design over the expected life of mining projects and operations.A combined risk-adverse and concurrent optimization process takes into account the spatial uncertainty of the mineralogy and texture characteristics of ore reserves. Additionally, a variety of mineral processing linear, non-linear, additive and non-additive parameters modeled spatially. The spatial uncertainty of these ore reserves characteristics and parameters has a direct impact in the expected mining sequence, mineral processing flowsheet design, concentrates or products quantity and quality, and economic value of mining projects and operations.Geometallurgical domain constrained stochastic geostatistical methodologies and multivariate mathematical models are applied for spatial uncertainty modeling of ore reserves characteristics and parameters. These mathematical models correlate the mineral processing liberation and selectivity responses of the mineralogy and textures within each geometallurgical domain. These models, in turn, are defined based on results of mineral processing and environmental testwork of unbiased and representative samples chosen for their variability. These samples are selected within mutually exclusive spatial geometallurgical uncertainty domains with similar mineralogical and textural characteristics in mineral deposits.Geometallurgical domains are defined by applying and combining multivariate statistical analysis and implicit modeling methodologies. These involve determining and constraining mineral processing liberation and selectivity properties explicitly contained in the extensive and integrated exploration drillhole database."

"This paper describes a sudden spill of waste rock used for backfilling from a waste pass at an underground mine in Canada, thus causing a major failure/accident. The mine operator immediately launched a detailed investigation to understand the causes of this accident and develop procedures to prevent any recurrence of such events in the future. The authors from McGill University were invited to collaborate with the engineers at the mine to examine this accident. The events leading to the accident were studied, appropriate measurements were taken and samples of the waste material were collected for further testing and analysis.The field visit and the interview of the witnesses allowed the detailed documentation of the events. The sequence of events related to the incident, along with the experimental results obtained in the course of the investigation, are presented. The waste material was characterized in the laboratory with regard to its behaviour in the presence of water. This information is discussed and the failure mechanism involved in the accident is identified. Finally, the full recommendations as well as the immediate operational measures implemented by the mine to prevent the future occurrence of such events are presented and discussed."

Dunsmuir Ventures? Nanuq diamond project is located approximately 250 km northeast of Baker Lake and 170 km north of Chesterfield Inlet. It occurs at the intersection of the Wager Bay shear zone with the Keewatin Arch, a major long-lived crustal uplift. The newly discovered diamondiferous kimberlites at Rankin Inlet, Repulse Bay and on Melville Peninsula also occur along this arch. Kimberlite indicator mineral (KIM) sampling has outlined a distinct KIM train more than 35 km long and 6 km wide. Geomorphological studies, boulder displacements and dispersion of magnetite in tills suggest that glacial transport distances were on the order of 4 to 6 kms only. The presence of multiple sources within the main Nanuq indicator train would account for its length and breadth. A second train has been located on the west central part of the property and anomalous concentrations of KIM occur elsewhere. Pyrope garnets (G9?s and G10?s), diamond inclusion field (DI) eclogitic garnets and DI chromites were confirmed by microprobe analyses. Clinopyroxene thermobarometry indicates a cool geotherm, approximately 35 mW/m2, and that mantle within the diamond stability field was tapped. An aeromagnetic survey has identified a number of anomalies. Those with down ice KIM support will have ground geophysical follow-up and will be tested in a spring 2004 drill program. Dunsmuir is optimistic that this will lead to the discovery of a new kimberlite cluster on the Nanuq property.

"In Turkey, the growing demand for lignite has resulted in increased lignite production and an emphasis on improving underground recovery. This has resulted in a gradual increase in the application of the retreat longwall mining method and also in the extraction of the safety pillars protecting permanent underground structures (drifts, shafts) in mines prior to their abandonment.Extracting these safety pillars presents a special hazard to mine employees and the stability of the mine. Often subjected to high stresses, the behaviour of these pillars is not always predictable. Special care must be taken to ensure that infrastructure does not collapse prematurely, and that working conditions remain safe. Otherwise the extraction must be halted, and the remaining coal lost.This investigation reports on a study of the stability of safety pillars during the final extraction phase of the Hustas mine in Soma, Turkey.” The model construction was based on mine plans, and material properties were derived from physical properties testing. Observed subsidence effects from other mining events were used to calibrate the overburden lamination thickness.The model results compared well with surface physical disturbance occurring as a result of mining, as well as with conventional longwall stress redistribution theory and underground observations. The study has shown that properly calibrated models can be useful in assessing mine safety during remnant pillar extraction. The LAMODEL results demonstrate the convenience of this easy to use software."

"Today’s high capacity semiautogenous grinding (SAG) mills expend vast amounts of energy and in doing so consume tons of shell liners and steel balls, while processing ore. The energy efficiency of these high throughput grinding mills can be attributed to the field of breakage and slurry discharge system. The charge motion and breakage of particles inside the mill depends on the shell lifters design, while the discharge of ground particles is controlled by the grate and pulp lifters. The limitations imposed by poor grate and pulp lifter design become increasingly apparent with increasing size of ag/sag mills and their operation in closed circuit. The design of these mill components has been largely based on trial and error and hence varies considerably between manufacturers. This paper discusses the use of two state of the art design tools - Millsoft™ and FlowMod™. Millsoft™ is an effective tool to design the shell lifters and optimize charge motion, whereas FlowMod™ simulates the slurry discharge system to design grate and pulp lifters. The application of these simulators will be discussed using case studies of full scale mills.INTRODUCTIONMany large mining operations around the world have one or more semi-autogenous (SAG) mills doing bulk of the work in their size reduction operation. The SAG mill is usually followed by a ball mill to finish the size reduction prior to the concentration step. In the past when primary, secondary and tertiary crushers fed material directly to large ball mills, the energy efficiency of the concentrator was determined for the most part by the ball mill operation, whereas now the energy efficiency of a plant often rests largely on the SAG mill operation. As a result mines have shifted their emphasis in optimization from ball mills to SAG mill"

The world’s first active power demand stabilization system for a 3-electrode electric arc smelting furnace was commissioned at PT Vale Indonesia in December 2012 on Furnace No. 2 using an SPLC (Smart Predictive Line Controller). The SPLC technology in combination with the Furnace No. 2 rebuild and other upgrades has enabled PT Vale to increase the electrical input to the furnace by up to 20% on a stable and sustainable basis by eliminating peak powers that overload and trip out the electrical equipment, and by reducing power unbalances. The SPLC technology maintains smooth arc power using a continuously variable thyristor controlled series reactor. The SPLC compensates variations in the furnace arc with predictive changes in the circuit reactance at a speed of up to 60 times a second. The system started up quickly and has been shown to be easy to operate and maintain by PT Vale. PT Vale’s Operations Team has been testing the new system at set points of up to 90 MW on the newly re-built Furnace No. 2. Over the last 12 months, the throughput of Line 2 has increased by approximately 10% on an annual average; however, debottlenecking in other design areas of the operation is required in order to achieve 90MW operation on a sustainable basis. This outstanding success results from a combination of the furnace and other upgrades, the SPLC active power stabilization, and the skill of PT Vale in quickly adopting new technologies and maximizing the combined benefits of each technology in their operation.

In this work the formation and environmental stabilization potential of arsenate-containing fluoroapatites is considered. In particular in this research various compounds were precipitated from synthetic solutions containing fluoride, arsenate/phosphate and calcium by varying different parameters-temperature, Ca:As ratio, pH, and P:As ratio, and aging time. The results obtained helped determine the operating window that should be used for the formation of highly crystalline fluoroapatites, in particular svabite (Ca5(AsO4)3F). It was found that svabite has a specific pH range of precipitation, with lower pH yielding CaF2 and calcium arsenate compounds such as CaHAsO4•H2O. At higher pH, a mixture of svabite and johnbaumite (Ca5(AsO4)3OH) precipitated, yielding a less stable material. This range of precipitation varied with the concentration of arsenic in the starting solution, and widened with higher initial concentrations of Ca2+, AsO4 3- and F-. Furthermore, svabite/fluoroapatite solid solutions were formed by using the same procedure as svabite but replacing some of the arsenate in solution by phosphate. The increase in phosphate content yielded a gradual change in morphology and crystallinity. Work on stability evaluation is currently under way.

"This paper examines the change in surface properties of the Polyurea used on spirals at different operational times: unused spiral, 28 months in operation and 58 months in operation. This is being done to investigate the alleged statement that spirals have a decrease in spiral separation efficiency after a certain period of operational time. Observing the surface characteristics under 1.5x and 36x magnification it can be concluded that the surface roughness decreases with increased operational time. This may be explained by a decrease in air inclusions and streak lines as the spiral surface wears. Decreased surface roughness should in theory have a beneficial effect on spiral separation performance. This leads to the conclusion that if a decrease in spiral separation performance is observed after a certain period of operation, it can’t be attributed to the change in surface properties. Uneven wear of the spiral surface, material creep or application of force to the spiral will change the profile of the spiral and could cause an adverse effect on spiral separation performance. The metallurgical test work showed that the best results are obtained at 30 - 35% solids by mass in the spiral feed. The iron recovery was significantly higher in the new spiral in comparison to the 2012 and 2010 spirals. The mass yield to concentrate in the new spiral was approximately three times more than for the older spirals. In conclusion, the yield combined with the grade, which equals the recovery was the best for the new spiral.IntroductionAn investigation was launched to research the common belief that spirals experience a decrease in efficiency, and therefore recovery, after a certain period of operation (a period of seven years has been used in the industry). "The risk management objective of the AMIRA Code of Practice for Metal Accounting has seldom been systematically investigated in the literature up to the authors’ knowledge. Risk is defined in the Australian Standard on Risk Management (AS/NZS 4360:2004), as “the chance of something happening that will have an impact on objectives”. The simplified economic analysis performed in this paper has lead to define “something happening” as measurement non-representativity and “impact on objectives” as NSR loss from the optimal NSR. This has pinpointed a missing link being the establishment of a relation between NSR in flotation plants and measurement representativity. The proposed framework, referred to as the total cost of representativity, answers the previously unanswered question of how much accuracy/reproducibility is fit for purpose in a given flotation plant. Authors readily acknowledge that it is way easier to assess the cost of accuracy/reproducibility than the cost of inaccuracy/irreproducibility. However, this exercise not only answers previously unanswered questions but also establishes an essential link with operational excellence. This paper exposes why such operational excellence could neither be attained nor proved without a state of the art metal accounting system. This should impact not only how metal accounting systems are audited/designed/refactored, but also how flotation plants are designed.IntroductionBecause representative metal accounting is a vital source of information for the financial accounts of a mining/metallurgical company, the need for a code on metal accounting was recognized in 2001 and a team was formed in 2003, under the sponsorship of several major mining houses, to produce such a code. "Northern Minerals Limited’s (ASX: NTU) flagship project is the Browns Range Rare Earth Project (the Project) located in Western Australia, consisting of a number of deposits with high value, heavy rare earth elements, in particular yttrium, terbium, and dysprosium. The deposits are dominated by xenotime mineralisation, which occurs within hydrothermal silicified and hematitic breccias. The Company delivered an initial JORC compliant resource estimate for the Project at the end of 2012 of 10,500 t of contained total rare earth oxides (TREO), which was increased to 28,084t of contained TREO in October 2013 and further enlarged to 47,997 t of contained TREO in February 2014. Concurrent with the growth of the Project resource base, significant progress has been made in developing the metallurgical process for the beneficiation and extraction of rare earth elements (REE’s) from the xenotime mineralisation. Development of the beneficiation circuit evaluated several process options and selected whole-ore flotation and magnetic separation, followed by flotation (hybrid circuit) as the two preferred flowsheets to pilot, following encouraging results on the bench of 83% and 86% recovery to a 20% TREO mineral concentrate respectively. Several downstream hydrometallurgical extraction flowsheets were evaluated. However, the following two preferred process flowsheets were ultimately selected for further detailed investigation during the prefeasibility study: 1. Sulphation bake, water leach, purification, oxalate precipitation, and/or calcination to produce a mixed RE oxide; 2. Sulphation bake, water leach, phosphate precipitation, caustic conversion, HCl leach, and oxalate precipitation to produce a mixed RE oxalate. Excellent heavy rare earth oxide (HREO) extractions (~ 90%) from beneficiation concentrates were achieved on the bench for both circuits, however flowsheet 1 was ultimately selected as the preferred flowsheet to pilot due to lower capital and operating cost. A mixed rare earth oxalate (42% TREO) or oxide (92% TREO) can be produced with low levels of Th and U of 3 ppm and 6 ppm respectively."

"As mine head grades decline and orebodies become more complex, traditional mineral processing techniques and flowsheets to achieve saleable concentrate become more difficult to design and construct. Mines with lower quality concentrates or concentrates with penalty elements are particular under threat. The economics of these operations are far more susceptible to metal price, concentrate treatment terms and the availability of other, cleaner concentrates. Additional value may be realised for these orebodies through improved recovery by producing a low grade middling concentrate for further processing, in conjunction with a saleable concentrate.The most cost effective way to reduce impurity levels is to do so as early as possible in the mining value chain. Technologies such as fine grinding and fine particle flotation are well established as effective methods for impurity rejection in mineral processing. What is normally overlooked is how a hydrometallurgical process could also be integrated in the overall flowsheet to achieve higher overall recovery at the mill. In the base metals environment, this is mainly because hydrometallurgical processes are associated with production of metal or use of expensive and toxic precipitating agents once the minerals of interest are solubilised. These processes can be very expensive, particularly with rising power costs and poor economies of scale in capital costs associated with low production rates from middling streams.Glencore Technology (GT) has recent experience in the treatment of middling and low grade concentrate streams as well as tailings streams to compliment a concentrator flowsheet in a refractory gold and base metals setting. The value proposition is the isolation of a low grade middlings concentrate from the primary circuit or the tailings stream for upgrading to an intermediate product with an equal or higher grade than the primary concentrate to allow blending for sale. This allows plants to operate on a more favourable part grade-recovery curve while avoiding the expense of metal production. For existing operations this is particularly attractive since it can be added on with no process interruptions.Two case studies are examined showing flowsheets and costings to arrive at the value proposition of the GT low grade treatment flowsheet."
