New data on the geology of the Late Jurassic to Holocene sediments cover of the World and associated mineral resources (oil, gas, ferromanganese nodules, ores of massive sulphides and other metals) have been compilled in the Atlas at scale 1:25,000,000 and 1:10,000,000. The work was performed by scientists from four Institutes of Russia (VNIIzarubezhgeologia, VNIIoceangeologia, Vernadsky Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry of theRussian Academy of Sciences and Geological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences). The Atlas shows variation of thickness and formational composition of the large complexes (Upper Jurassic-Early Cretaceous, Upper Cretaceous Eocene, Oligocene-Neogene, Pliocene-Pleistocene), distribution of oil/gas and ore deposits in each complex, data of deepsea drilling (leg 1-130),  thermo-pressure condition in the sedimentary basins within Circum-Pacific Rim.

There is approximately 240 000 tonnes of arsenic trioxide dust stored in underground chambers at the Giant Mine in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. To minimise the amount of arsenic released to the environment, a number of closure alternatives are being considered. One alternative is to mine the dust, encapsulate it and dispose the mixture into a secured landfill. The potential leaching behaviour of the encapsulated dust was examined in a laboratory programme. Cylinders of arsenic trioxide dust mixed with cement/aggregate and bitumen were prepared. The dust content varied between zero per cent and 60 per cent of dry weight charge. The cement cylinders were tested for strength, leaching and freeze/thaw durability. The bitumen cylinders were tested for leaching only. The results show that increasing dust content in the cement cylinders negatively impacts the strength and the freeze/thaw durability of the samples. A contributing factor is likely the high water to cement ratio in the samples. Leaching tests show that arsenic release from cement cylinders increase with increasing dust content. Arsenic concentrations in leachates do reach a plateau at a certain point in time. Arsenic release from bitumen cylinders was significantly lower compared to cement cylinders. Arsenic concentrations eventually were less than 0.05 mg/L in samples containing up to 25 per cent arsenic trioxide dust. Arsenic leaching rates were found to decrease by an order of magnitude over the course of three months.

"AEROPHINE® 3418A Promoter is a well-known and widely used collector and is an industry standard for its excellent selectivity and efficacy in the processing of complex polymetallic sulfide ores, particularly those containing silver. Until now, however, it has not found widespread use in primary nickel flotation.In an effort to increase nickel recovery without compromising selectivity over iron sulfides, Western Areas Forrestania Nickel operation trialled the use of AEROPHINE® 3418A as a secondary collector at low dosage. A series of ON/OFF trials were conducted, with the finding that a very low dose of AEROPHINE® 3418A increased nickel recovery by 0.6 per cent compared to using xanthate alone.This paper provides a brief operational history and overview of the Forrestania operations, a description of the trial and an analysis of the results.Citation:Emery, S, Flynn, M, Tan, K and Munro, C, 2016. The MMG Century mine, which is the largest zinc/lead mine in Australia, began operating in 1999 and ceased mining from the open pit in July 2015, with processing completed in early 2016. Closure plans were developed from 2006, and detailed planning for closure commenced in early 2011 with the appointment of a dedicated closure planning resource. The site will continue to be managed during the active and passive closure phases to complete rehabilitation commitments and demonstrate that closure completion criteria have been achieved.Completion of the mining/processing phase of the project provides an opportunity to reflect on successes, missed opportunities and lessons learnt with respect to planning and execution of mine closure. This paper highlights examples of success at Century and also identifies key learnings and areas for improvement in progressive closure outcomes. Specific examples examine mine planning and execution involving bulk movement of waste rock and construction of permanent waste encapsulation landforms. The paper also provides recommendations for other sites that are planning for closure.Decisions made during the operational phase of the project life can result in a significant increase in closure liability and reduce the likelihood of achieving lease relinquishment. Earthen covers are now widely used in the mining industry to control the generation rate and/or release rate of low quality drainage from piles of sulfidic minewastes. Covers are usually designed to reduce the water infiltration rate and in some cases may also reduce the oxygen flux to the underlying sulfides. Engineered covers have only been used since the 1980s, however, and there is very little field data on their performance in the longer term. This lack of information has implications for the degree of confidence that can be placed on the predictions of the environmental impacts of sulfidic minewastes, for the acceptance of close-out criteria by regulatory authorities and for the financial liability of the mining industry. Covers were placed on sulfidic waste rock dumps at the abandoned Rum Jungle uranium mine during 1984 - 1985. These covers were designed to reduce the water infiltration to less than five per cent of incident rainfall by both water shedding and storage-release mechanisms. Regular monitoring by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) demonstrated that the covers performed better than the design criterion for around ten years, but infiltration rates have subsequently increased. There is a 66 per cent probability that the infiltration rate now exceeds five per cent of incident rainfall. The cover on the largest pile, WhiteÆs heap, was sampled in pits dug at eight locations. Sampling was carried out at the end of the monsoonal wet season and again at the end of the ædryÆ season. This, together with laboratory testing, enabled cover performance to be assessed against five criteria: design, construction, cover material characteristics, physico-chemical characteristics and biological characteristics. We are of the opinion that the design of the cover was suitable to achieve the objectives of stability, water shedding, storage-release, and provision of a substrate for vegetation growth. Over most of the surface of the heap, the construction of the covers, drains and erosion prevention structures was in accordance with design specifications. However, several small and localised bare patches on the upper surface of WhiteÆs heap coincide with a reduced cover thickness, which is likely to have been due to poor construction in those patches. The construction of covers on minewastes is dependent on an adequate source of material meeting design specifications. From our limited examination, it appears that there was shortage of material for each of the three zones û a lower impervious clay layer, the moisture storage-release layer and the upper erosion-resistant layer for vegetative growth. An indication of this was that the upper layers in some areas were observed to be thinner than specified. We are of the opinion that this shortage of suitable material has been responsible for some of the changes observed ten years after emplacement. Physical and geotechnical testing indicated that the cover materials no longer meet the original specifications. In particular, the permeability at the 8 locations was found to be greater than specified, by up to several orders of magnitude. The higher permeability may explain the higher observed rainfall infiltration and moisture content of the waste rock. This increased permeability appears to be due to a combination of biological and physical processes û galleries formed by termites and ants and an extensive system of shrinkage/desiccation cracks formed by the development of a polygonal blocky structure involving the entire lower clay layer. The desiccation cracks may fill with coarser illuviated materials and form a conduit through which roots access the underlying waste rock. Measurements were made of oxygen flux into the heap as cover layers were excavated in the pits. They indicated that the full cover currently reduces the oxygen flux to 20 - 23 per cent of that into bare waste and that this reduction seems to be proportional to the cover thickness. It was also found that the oxygen flux into the cover is about four times higher at the end of the dry season than at the end of the wet season and that the difference is due primarily to the difference in moisture content of the cover. Recommendations are made for the design and construction of covers.

St Helena tunnel is the centrepiece of the Pacific Highway upgrade from Tintenbar to Ewingsdale, abbreviated and commonly known as T2E. At the deepest point the twin tunnels run 45 m below the ridge line of St Helena Hill, located about 5 km west of Byron Bay. The tunnel breakthrough was achieved early in 2014 and the works for permanent lining will be completed in early 2015.Once the project will be handed over to the public in 2015, T2E will deliver a safer highway and uninterrupted traffic flow between New South Wales and Queensland. The design speed in the project area has been set to 110 km/h by the client Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), which will reduce the travel times between Brisbane and Ballina to just over two hours.The two tubes of the tunnel have been designed to accommodate three lanes in each direction with shoulders and walkways on either side of the carriageway. These requirements result in a huge cross-section of about 20 m width and an excavated area of about 210 m2.With the tunnel alignment being situated in basaltic rock, St Helena tunnel is conventionally driven. The selected excavation method was predominantly drill-and-blast with temporary support being installed immediately after the excavation. Despite the wide span of the tunnel, the geology allowed the tunnel perimeter to be supported by only rock bolts and a layer of shotcrete over the majority of its length.Due to environmental reasons one of the approval criteria of the project was that the tunnel must not have a detrimental long-term impact on the groundwater system within St Helena Hill. Consequently the tunnel has been designed as a fully tanked structure with a waterproofing sheet membrane installed on the temporary shotcrete.The permanent structure of the tunnel has to meet a 100-year design life and it is designed as a cast in situ concrete lining. Considering the water pressure on the lining the concrete is reinforced with a significant amount of bar reinforcement.The presented paper provides a more detailed explanation of the geology and the consequential temporary and permanent support measures together with the waterproofing system.CITATION:Mueller, A M, 2014. A model has been developed for drum scrubbing which allows selection of geometry and power input. Specific aspects considered are: Calculation of total static and operating volumes. Total residence time based on total operating volume. Solids residence time based on solids operating volume. Selection of the aspect ratio. Alteration of operating fill to allow for smaller or larger feed openings. Selection of proportion of critical speed. Calculation of shell and motor power requirements. The model uses either solids or total residence time to calculate the required operating volume. The solids residence time is based on the proportion of coarse solids in the feed. Material finer than the reject size is considered as part of the slurry. The solids operating volume is the static volume plus the surcharge on the discharge weir required for flow of the solids from the unit. The total operating volume is the static volume plus the surcharge on the discharge weir for the total flow to exit the scrubber. The burden density is calculated from the coarse solids bulk density and the slurry density that includes all the fine solids. Power is calculated using the Liddell and Moys correlations for burden position and shape, and the operating rotational speed. Results from the model (especially power) have been verified from industrial installations of significant size. Predicted and observed power draws are within two per cent. A check against the JKMRC mill model shows power draw prediction agreement to within four per cent.

Most mining operations have been happy to live in blissful ignorance of what their equipment is really capable of. Shareholders have been shown increasing tonnes output per employee (due to rationalising employee numbers). It is now known that the best practice for large mining trucks is 52 per cent higher than average or best practice for excavators is 41 per cent higher than average, or 38 per cent in shovels or 35 per cent with draglines, etc. The data is available. The bell curve of performance is flat. Substantial underperformance is rife. If you are working in or supplying equipment or services to one of the majority of operating mines that donÆt achieve best practice surely you want to know why. Or maybe you donÆt? For many mining people this sort of knowledge could be dangerous to their career so keeping the MD or CEO in the dark is a good option. Many suppliers donÆt want the performance of their equipment benchmarked? Mining consultants donÆt have the data so they are happy to keep guessing. Unfortunately, many Business Improvement or Business Excellence projects are about ticking the participantÆs æcareer boxesÆ. The first step to capacity utilisation is knowing what the capacity is. Even then people and culture will get in the way. People are the biggest hurdle to capacity utilisation. This paper will discuss what the mine of the future (and today) will need to do to utilise the productive capacity of its assets. It is not just benchmarking. It is not just automation. It is not just technology. It is about engaging those people who impact on equipment performance; right from the operator up to the Mine Manager. Doing it better involves a process to facilitate change and a culture which says it is OK to try even if you are wrong.

Mining companies are moving towards automated haul trucks and other equipment. One reason for this is that if automated trucks can operate in a standard pattern over and over again without variation, then human error is reduced, if not eliminated.The challenge for mining production leaders/managers is to ensure operators follow standard operating procedures for load and dump operations, with each operator doing the same thing, every time. However, operators are only human and inconsistent performance is rife at every mine site. The finger may be pointed at the operators for not doing as instructed. The clarity and variability of trainer instructions may be considered causal to the problem. Herein lies the problem. Almost all operators believe they are following the procedure very closely; moreover, they all demonstrate a strong desire to conform to instruction.Using video analysis and feedback, each operator can be shown where and by how much they differ from the benchmark set by their company. Operators, often for the first time, can see definitively what they are doing, compared to industry best practice.The technology utilised by real-time video (RTV) crews measures time, distance and angles. It can overlay the video of the operator at the load site, with video of the perfect pass. Operators are amazed when they see how near to, or how far they are from best practice.The footage and data gathered by RTV assists operators in understanding exactly what adjustments are required to increase proficiency. It also assists load and dump superintendents to identify where in the process they are losing time. Lime and cement manufacturing has a proud history in Otago, with the earliest lime kilns appearing around 1849 at Caversham and Kaikorai in Dunedin . At Dunback or Makareao (to be precise) three well-type kilns were built by the government in 1899. In 1909 these kilns were leased to the then Milburn Lime and Cement Company. They erected a large brick Schmatolla kiln in 1909, elliptical in plan and fired by coal gas. The kiln operated up until 1944 before being left derelict. The quarry which supplied the kiln also supplied the Burnside Cement works from 1929 up until its closure in 1988. The quarry was shifted to the top of the hill in the 1950s.

As filtering technology improves and there is an increased focus on environmental impacts, the concept of managing fine coal rejects by filtering, mixing with coarse rejects and dry stacking them is being considered more seriously. In Queensland, there appears to be a desire from regulators to move away from wet rejects facilities towards dry-stacked facilities, resulting in a change in the risk profile for the facility.A coalminer has a site with many constraints, including limited area that is not planned to be undermined and nearby rivers that are prone to flooding. The design of a dry-stacked facility that meets the operational requirements and environmental compliance criteria is challenging in subtropical climatic settings, where there is a need to consider wet seasons with high-volume, sustained rainfall events. The impact of the rainfall is multifaceted, requiring careful surface water management to separate clean and contact water, adequate foundation preparation to limit seepage to groundwater, management of stack stability given a potentially high phreatic surface and the avoidance of potential flood zones. These design constraints were compounded by a limited area available for rejects storage that would not be undermined.This paper presents a summary of the conceptual design of a dry rejects facility, including consideration of regulatory and client requirements, provision for expansion while also considering progressive rehabilitation, diversion of clean water as much as practicable during operations and siting constraints. AGL owns and operates the 2210 MW Loy Yang A power station and adjacent 30 Mt/a brown coalmine in the Latrobe Valley, Victoria. The mine is currently nearly 5 km long, more than 2 km wide at the operating face and up to 200 m deep. In addition to GHD’s global footprint, the company also has a significant Victorian presence, including a permanent, well-resourced regional office in Traralgon, approximately 10 km from Loy Yang, as well as a permanent site office.A joint paper on the Loy Yang mine professional services alliance model was written for the AusIMM International Mine Management Conference in 2006 by Woods and Wood. Now ten years on, this paper provides an overview of the present relationship and arrangements, including the continued transformation of the alliance model and maturing of the relationship contract.These are challenging times, with increasing cost and regulatory pressure driving change in the broader energy and resources industry, and locally including both the mining and power sectors at Loy Yang. Flexible models to achieve a balance between internal personnel and access to key external skills, whilst achieving value for money and transparency, is increasingly critical. The right drivers and performance measures are essential, particularly when confronted with potential major technical and environmental risks (considering significant ground failure and fire events that have occurred elsewhere within the Latrobe Valley over the last decade) within a sector that is reducing costs and optimising production.This case study discusses the alliance status and changes, reasons behind adjustments and what the future is likely to hold. The paper also explores the validity of the original objectives and the extent to which they have been achieved. The philosophy of the alliance is to continue closely aligning the objectives of the two companies in the best interests of the Loy Yang site and immediate surrounds/stakeholders. The GRE46 Underground Project lies beneath the environmentally unique and culturally endowed shore of Lake Cowal. The ore body is open both along strike and at depth and is currently defined to a strike length of 1.5km and depth of 800m. The Warraga exploration decline commenced in March 2019 and represents the first stage of the Project, which is expected to underpin production at Cowal Gold Operations (CGO) for a period exceeding 10 years. Mining operations at Cowal commenced in 2005, following a period of over 20 years of exploration and permitting. In 2015 Evolution Mining (Cowal) Pty Limited (Evolution) acquired the operation from Barrick Gold Ltd (“Barrick”). Barrick had a life of mine plan that anticipated a cessation of operations in 2024 at a processing rate not exceeding 7.5 Mtpa. Evolution have grown the regional endowment considerably and have a currently approved mine life out to 2032 with a currently approved maximum processing rate of 9.8 Mtpa. This paper examines the history, current status and future path of one part of that plan, the GRE-46 Underground Project. Topics for discussion include discovery, Mineral Resource growth under different ownership philosophies, planning, permitting and commissioning of an exploration decline and bulk sampling project, and integration with the possible future mine. Environmental sensitivities affecting regulatory approvals, timeframes, technical challenges, opportunities and solutions are discussed, along with the path required to fast-track production from the existing 14Mt, 1.4Moz Mineral Resource while complying with the requirements of modern, responsible project development stewardship.

The Sons of Gwalia Mine in Western Australia is situated about 140 miles north from Kalgoorlie in arid country, where supplies of fresh water are difficult to obtain.Mine salt water is used throughout the treatment plant, whilst fresh water for domestic, boiler, and power purposes is pumped from a number of shallow outlying wells. The waters from all wells are constant in character, although they vary in the quantities of salts contained.An average sample of mixed waters gave the following analysis (Gr. per gal.):Sodium chloride 70.82Magnesium chloride 33.03Calcium chloride 26.98Calcium carbonate .. 11.57Calcium sulphate 22.71Iron oxide and alumina 2.10Silica and insoluble 4.58When this water is used in the boilers in its natural state it is scale-forming and intensely corrosive.

The Kempfield deposit is located in the Hill End Trough, one of several intracratonic basins developed during Silurian–Devonian time, in the eastern province of the Lachlan Orogen, Eastern Australia.The deposit contains an oxide resource of 5.8 Mt @ 58 g/t Ag and a sulfide resource of 14.4 Mt @ 45 g/t Ag, 1.7 per cent Zn and 0.6 per cent Pb, classified and reported in compliance with the JORC Code. The deposit has been previously explored by a number of companies, including INCO, Shell, Jones Mining, Golden Cross Resources and recently Argent Minerals Ltd (Argent). Argent is currently completing a definitive feasibility study with a view to mining the deposit.The deposit is hosted at the boundary between the Molong High to the west, comprising Ordovician sediments and volcanic rocks and the Hill End Trough to the east, interpreted as a back-arc basin containing Silurian sediments and siliceous-feldspathic volcanic rocks. The boundary between these two strato tectonic units is an imbricate thrust fault zone known as the Copperhannia Thrust.The Kempfield deposit is hosted in felsic volcanic rocks known as the Kangaloolah Volcanics. These have been in-faulted and folded into the Middle Ordovician meta-sediments of the Coombing Formation of metasediments along the Copperhannia Thrust. The Kangaloolah Volcanics belong to the Late Silurian Mumbil Group, comprising submarine carbonate-shale facies interspersed with extensive felsic volcanic piles, which grade conformably upwards into turbiditic sandstone and siltstone sequences (interpreted to represent a deeper depositional environment). These turbiditic rocks are known as the Campbells Formation, comprising siltstone, sandstone and andesitic tuff. The rocks at Kempfield are metamorphosed to lower greenschist facies, reflected through the different type of schists.Silver, gold, lead, zinc mineralisation is hosted in barite-rich horizons, near the boundary to quartz-phyric tuffaceous rocks in submarine, immature, reworked felsic ash tuffs. Barite appears to be hosted in greatest concentrations by the coarser grained volcanoclastic sandstones and grits, whilst intercalated siltstones are volumetrically minor and tend to return low barite and silver. Mineralisation is hosted in stratiform and probably stratabound barite-rich horizons. A northeast-trending, steeply dipping, metamorphic cleavage (S1) occurs throughout the project area.

In mining and processing operations where minerals, high in pyrite and low in calcite/dolomite are processed, acid is generated, which needs to be neutralised. Ticor at Empangeni in South Africa (SA) produces rutile (TiO2), leucoxene (TiO2 plus iron compounds), titanium (Ti), zircon (Zi) and ilmenite (TiO2 plus iron compounds). Neutralisation is required in the processing plant where acid is leached into the wash water. This water needs to be treated to a quality suitable for re-use in the metallurgical process or to a higher quality to make it suitable for discharge into the Empangeni sewage system (SA). For re-use the water needs to be neutral and under-saturated with respect to gypsum while for discharge into the sewage system the sulfate concentration needs to be reduced to less than 500 mg/L (as SO4). Acid mine water is generally neutralised with lime. Disadvantages associated with lime are the costs and maintenance of the slaking equipment as well as hazards, associated with handling of the alkali. The cost of powdered limestone (CaCO3) in South Africa, a by-product, is 50 - 60 per cent cheaper than lime. A technology has been developed where limestone is used for neutralisation of acid mine water instead of lime. This development includes: Limestone handling and dosing system. A novel, robust system has been developed where waste CaCO3 from the paper industry is slurried to a constant density. A full-scale plant was constructed to evaluate its performance (Figure 4). The dosing system consists of an inclined slab onto which the limestone is stored and from where it is slurried into a make-up tank. The density of the slurry in the make-up tank is controlled via a loadcell that measures the weight of the tank (operated at constant volume) and activates/deactivates the spray of the recycle slurry onto the slab. Integrated limestone neutralisation/lime treatment process. In this process powdered CaCO3 is used for neutralisation and partial sulfate removal of acid leached from the coal washing plant. The sulfate concentration can be further reduced to below the saturation level of gypsum (ie 1200 mg/L) through gypsum crystallisation by means of lime treatment, resulting in metal precipitation (eg Fe3+ and Al3+). CO2- treatment for CaCO3 precipitation. The pH of the lime treated water can be adjusted to pH levels of 8.5 and lower using CO2. The CO2, generated during limestone neutralisation (Equation 2), can be captured and used in this stage of the process. The first two stages (limestone- and lime neutralisation) of this technology have been implemented on full-scale at Ticor to treat the effluent of the process. The constructed plant is 80 m3/hr and differs from coal processing plants by way of not containing Fe(II) and Fe(III) in the water. The CO2-treatment stage (Stage 3) will soon be implemented at IHM as part of a program to optimise the technology for maximum benefits.

"The Waihi Gold Mine (WGM) operated by OceanaGold New Zealand Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of the OceanaGold Corporation of Australia. Traditionally WGM has stockpiled and processed separate campaigns of open pit and underground ore. The ore is processed via a conventional semi-autonomous grinding (SAG) / ball circuit (SABC). The low aspect SAG mill operates in a closed circuit with two 20" cyclones, whilst the ball mill is also a closed circuit with a 10" cyclone cluster. A major wall movement in April 2015 ceased open pit operations indefinitely, 18 months ahead of the mining plan. This immediately reduced the forecast mill tonnage leaving two options: begin campaign milling or change the operating strategy and target lower throughput. Additional cost pressures necessitated improved milling cost efficiency. The immediate ore restriction limited processing alternatives to within the existing major infrastructure. Available comminution circuit survey data laid the foundation for developing a comminution model using the JKSimMet™ software package (version 6, created by KJTech). A number of flow sheet variants were then evaluated based on predicted throughput and efficiency. The comminution models suggested opportunities for improved efficiency lay in reducing throughput and increasing utilisation rather than on/off campaign milling under the existing operating philosophy. A series of process alterations followed, delivering new cost efficiencies that maintained the current $/t processing cost. The carbon solubility of the CaO-Al2O3-FeO-SiO2-MgO slag, the main system formed in the Ruhrstahl-Heraeus (RH) vacuum degasser, was measured at 1873 K to understand the effect of slag compositions on the carbon contamination in the ultra-low carbon (ULC) steels. The stable form of carbon was demonstrated to be carbonate by plotting the log [(wt%C)/aC] ratio against the log p(O2) which ranged -11 < log p(O2,atm) < -9. The carbon solubility of the CaO-Al2O3-FeO-SiO2-MgO slag can be estimated using thermodynamic model. The distribution ratio of carbon increased with increasing concentration of FeO due to the FeO reduction reaction and increased basicity of slag. The carbonate capacity of the CaO-Al2O3-FeO-SiO2-MgO slag can be expressed as a linear function of the activity of lime and the optical basicity.

The scope of this report is to examine the aforementioned hypothesis by performing a detailed analytical comparison of a P&H electric rope shovel to an O&K diesel powered hydraulic excavator. In order to complement the integrity of the concluding results, two different size categories will be analysed in order to demonstrate that the findings can be extrapolated and applied to all the machinesÆ size classes. These two size classes are categorised by their bucket sizes and they are in the range of 43 - 58 cubic metres and 23 - 26 cubic metres. It should be noted that electric powered hydraulic excavators will not be considered in this report. In order to compare the electric and hydraulic types, the machine variants that will be analysed are commercial cost-effectiveness and operational flexibility. Although operational flexibility can be an ambiguous characteristic, a clear and thorough definition describing its exact meaning has been included. In order to simplify this study, all the data collected for this comparison have been for overburden removal, eliminating the variation that occurs with the movements of the shovel when selectively mining in the ore deposit. Thus, it ensures that all the data that is compared stems from a common origin for all the shovels. In other words the information will be compared when digging in the same material, loading into the same sized haul trucks, and when possible, with the same operators. Theoretical data received form the respective manufacturers, and actual data obtained from Mount Whaleback, was used for this comparison. This leads to the final comparison, where the operational flexibility and the cost-effectiveness are evaluated, with respect to their individual importance, ultimately influencing the final recommendation.
