"High alumina content in the Indian iron ore fines (2.5% Al2O3) resulted in poor quality pellets at the recently commissioned 6 MTPA pelletizing plant and a study was under taken to establish suitable pellet chemistry through proper fluxing agents. Limestone fluxed pellets were prepared at varying basicity (0 to 0.8) and pyroxenite fluxed pellets at varying MgO contents (0 to 3%) to study their effect on the metallurgical properties. Fired pellets were tested for their strength, RDI, reducibility and swelling. Microstructural studies, optical and SEM-EDS, were carried out to quantify different phases and their chemistry. Acid pellets exhibited poor quality whereas limestone pellets at 0.8 basicity and pyroxenite pellets at 1.5% MgO exhibited optimum metallurgical quality. Formation of widely distributed silicate melt in limestone pellets and high melting point slag & magnesioferrite in pyroxenite pellets found to improve their quality. However during commercial production of MgO bearing pyroxenite pellets, their room temperature and low temperature properties found to be inferior, but exhibited better high temperature properties, viz. softening-melting behavior. Contrary to this, commercially produced limestone pellets, comprising CaO, exhibited better strength and RDI but showed poor high temperature properties. To yield the benefits of both CaO (for good strength and RDI) and MgO (for low swelling and high softening), a dual flux combination was established by using both limestone and pyroxenite/olivine together that resulted in optimum metallurgical properties. Coke rate at the blast furnaces found to be reduced by 1kg for every1% increase of dual flux pellets in the burden.INTRODUCTION Iron ore agglomerate quality plays a vital role in decreasing the reducing agent consumption and increasing the productivity of blast furnace. In most of the integrated steel works, the burden mix for blast furnace is decided as per the availability of the iron ore agglomerates like sinter and pellets. More attention has been given in recent years to the use of fluxed pellets in blast furnace due to their good strength and improved reducibility, swelling and softening melting characteristics. Generally, quality of pellets is influenced by the nature of ore or concentrate, associated gangue, type and amount of fluxes added and their subsequent treatment to produce pellets. These factors in turn result in the variation of physicochemical properties of the coexisting phases and their distribution during pellet induration. Hence properties of the pellets are largely governed by the form and degree of bonding achieved between ore particles and the stability of these bonding phases during reduction of iron oxides (Panigraphy et al., 1990). It is important to note that conditions and parameters of pelletizing are specific to given ore or concentrate; the present study is undertaken for typical Indian hematite ore fines high in alumina. Except authors earlier work on quality of pellets from Indian iron ore (Dwarapudi et al., 2008, 2010), there is no considerable literature reported on the effect of pellet basicity and MgO content in the basicity range of 0 to 0.8 for Indian hematite ore."

"Mikhailovskoye Deposit is comprised of oxidized ferruginous quartzites among other minerals with the former widely spread across the ore field and mined along with unoxidized ferruginous quartzites. PJSC Mikhailovsky GOK strategic development is aimed at iron ore product output expansion. The most critical item of the strategic development road map is process design for separation and concentration of hematite contained in oxidized ferruginous quartzites mined as the by-product in the open pit. Laboratory and semi-industrial tests run to design cost-effective, reliable and environmentally friendly process for Mikhailovskoye deposit oxide quartzites processing included the following processes: - pilot tests of reverse anionic flotation which produced concentrate with Fe60.1-62.9% total iron content and 66-69%Fe recovery rate; - combined magnetic separation and flotation (Marubeni Company, 1982) including slime removal, reverse anionic and cationic flotation and high gradient magnetic separation resulting in 48.9% yield, Fe55-57.5%, up to Fe60.5% hematite concentration ( Fe64.1% being the best result achieved),76.2% recovery. - magnetic separation and flotation, including separation in low gradient (1400 Oe) and high gradient (up to 17000-18000 Oe) magnetic field. The results of these pilots tests were the following: 57-59%Fe concentrate, 70%Fe recovery (Mekhanobrchermet, MGOK, 1982-1988): - magnetic roasting in pilot plant of TSGOK (Krivoy Rog) which produced 61.1%Fe concentrate with 81.5% recovery. Major disadvantage of the method is high generation of dust equal to 20% of the initial feed. Based on third-party studies flotation of oxidized ferruginous quartzites process embracing best processing methods was designed by Metalloinvest Management Company LLC and PJSC Mikhailovsky GOK engineers. This paper discusses analysis of studies aimed at intensification of separation processes with application of mechanical slurry agitation (MSA), addition of alkali (NaOH) and elutriation of initial feed. The paper also provides a design solution to implement a lab-scale MSA plant. It includes feasibility evaluation of MSA inclusion in flotation of oxidized ferruginous quartzites process to enable higher yield and hematite recovery in resultant concentrate. Outcomes of the discussed work have significant value for prospective engineering of OFQ concentration process."

Underwater intervention operations have been supported by robotic systems such as remotely operated vehicles (ROV) for a long time. In particular challenging scenarios such as the deep sea, the use of ROV systems for environment awareness is in fact the main tool of choice. With the technical advances in autonomous robotics, there is an increased effort in substitute ROVs whenever possible for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV). These systems don't have tether and thus provide large advantages from the operations and logistic point of view. However the limited options for underwater communications render them impracticable for many tasks were real time environment awareness and direct human control is needed. Emerging applications in underwater mining, both at sea [1] and in inland flooded mines [2] pose additional requirements in terms of operation support needs and environment restrictions. Two main tasks are to be addressed by assisting robots in these underwater mining operations: providing adequate environment awareness for human operators and obtain precise realtime 3D environment modelling (particularly relevant for the mining planning). The use of ROVs with umbilical cable, has in this case large limitations due to the nature of the mining cutting (performed by dedicated systems) that limit manoeuvrability and pose high risk of cutting the cable or damaging the vehicle. In this paper we present EVA (Exploration VAMOS AUV) an innovative hybrid ROV/AUV system developed for operations support in inland underwater mining operations. This robot is always operated without tether, and the can be used in a wireless ROV tele-operation mode using very short range high bandwidth underwater communication systems and in autonomous AUV mode.

"During mechanical flotation of fine liberation sized complex rare earth ores, a large fraction of ultrafine valuable mineral particles are lost to tailings. Fine gangue mineral particles can be entrapped within the froth phase and be floated together with target mineral particles. Another common challenge in ultrafine rare earth mineral flotation is the formation of a sticky froth (excessively stable froth). Thus, the improvement of the flotation of fine and ultrafine rare earth bearing minerals through appropriate cell design and reagent selection is highly desirable. The aim of this study is to investigate the performance of a pico-bubble cavitation flotation column in improving selective recovery of ultrafine rare-earth elements (REEs) bearing minerals from complex and low-grade ores. In pico-bubble cavitation column, very small bubbles are generated which are capable of attaching to ultrafine particles and consequently modifying their surface properties. The overall effect of these processes should lead to improved flotation selectivity and recovery of ultrafine RE mineral particles. In this paper, the effects of a number of flotation operating variables on recovery and grade of REE minerals was investigated using a continuous pilot scale pico-bubble column flotation. At the flotation conditions used in this study, subtle monazite upgrade was observed while gangue Fe oxide was preferentially floated even in the presence of depressants. INTRODUCTION Rare earth elements (REEs) have unique properties such as superconductivity and catalytic activity, and are in high demand for a large number of cutting-edge technologies in the modern world including the production of mobile phones, fuel cells, displays, permanent magnets for wind power generation, high-capacity batteries, green energy devices, etc (Naumov, 2008). REEs tend to be intimately associated within many minerals, and are rarely found in high concentrations in deposits for economic extraction. Up to now, among over 250 minerals containing REEs, bastnasite (Ce), monazite (Ce, Th and La) and xenotime (Y) are the three main minerals that contain sufficient grade of REEs for commercial exploitation (Zhang and Edwards, 2012). The deposits that contain bastnäsite, monazite and xenotime usually have complicated mineral compositions, with various valuable minerals of fine embedded grain sizes in association with complex gangue minerals. In order to ensure liberation of the REEs minerals, fine grinding to less than 30 µm is necessary. This fine grinding leads to difficulty in recovering a large proportion of fine and ultrafine particles in separation processes such as flotation (Trahar and Warren, 1976). Consequently, highly liberated and ultrafine fine valuable REEs particles are lost into tailings during traditional mechanical flotation. Besides, the formation of extremely sticky and stable froth inhibits the drainage of hydrophobic particles. Thus, improving flotation of rare earth bearing minerals, particularly the ultrafine size range, is highly desirable."

"Magnetizing roasting-magnetic separation is an important route for the beneficiation of refractory iron ores. In this investigation, a pilot-scale fluidized magnetizing roasting reactor was introduced and used to study the effects of roasting temperature and the flow rates of reducing gas CO and fluidizing gas N2, on the magnetizing roasting performance of an Anshan-type carbonate-bearing fine iron ore. The results showed that the hematite was almost reduced to magnetite by a gas mixture of 4 m3/h CO and 1 m3/h N2 at a roasting temperature of 540 °C. Under the optimized conditions, a high-grade magnetic concentrate assaying 66.1 wt.% Fe with a recovery rate of 91.2% was achieved from an Anshan-type carbonate-bearing fine iron ore assaying 42.0 wt.% Fe. The XRD, VSM, and optical microscopy analyses revealed that the siderite was successfully converted to magnetite by roasting. Some coarse hematite particles were difficult to reduce to magnetite completely; however, these generated magnetite particles with a fine hematite core could also be effectively recovered by magnetic separation after liberation from gangue minerals due to their strong magnetism. INTRODUCTION Magnetizing roasting followed by low-intensity magnetic separation has been considered as an effective solution, both technologically and economically, when upgrading refractory iron ores (Zhang et al., 2012; Peng et al., 2012; Li and Zhu, 2012). According to the type of roasting reactor, the magnetization roasting can be divided into shaft furnace roasting, rotary kiln roasting, and fluidized bed roasting (Zhu and Li, 2014).Shaft furnace magnetization roasting system is mainly composed of heating and reduction processes. The hematite ore is first heated to 700~800 °C in the heating zone, then falls into reduction zone where the weakly magnetic hematite is reduced to magnetite by coke oven gas at 550~600 °C (Yan et al., 2012). However, several years of engineering practices indicate that the shaft furnace can only process the hematite ores with a granularity of 15 ~75 mm, and the shaft furnace roasting is also characterized by heterogeneity of roasted product. Hence, the shaft furnace magnetization roasting technology is gradually replaced by high-gradient magnetic separation with the development of high-gradient magnetic separator. The rotary kiln generally handles the hematite ores with a grain size of less than 30 mm (Zhu and Li, 2014), however the formation of clinker ring in the rotary kiln will affect the yield of iron resource. In the fluidized bed furnace, the hematite ore is shaken up by an upward current of gas which maintains the individual particles in suspension (Yu et al., 2018). The precise adjustment of the gas velocity to the particle size and the specific weight of the hematite ore, make it possible to generate a floating mixture of gas and solids which behaves almost like a liquid (Yu et al., 2017a). The process is reported to have the following advantages over the other roasting techniques: ease of control due to absence of moving parts within the reactor, homogeneity of roasted products, ability to handle fine particles, and high efficiency of heat transfer and mass transfer (Li et al., 2015; Yu et al., 2017b). However, the simultaneous heating and reductive magnetization of hematite ore occur at the same place in the conventional fluidized bed reactor. Therefore, the reductive atmosphere, as well as the safety and stability of anti-explosion are hard to be controlled. Besides, the roasting temperature for conventional fluidized bed furnace is usually up to 950~1150 °C (Liu et al., 2017). Thus, the formation of clinker ring caused by high temperature will affect the operating efficiency."

"The valuable materials resulting from the processing of gold-bearing ores are often refractory to direct gold recovery through cyanidation. There are multiple methods for chemical liberation of gold prior to cyanidation such as pressure and biological oxidation as well as atmospheric oxidation which is typically used in combination with physical activation of material by ultrafine grinding such as the Albion ProcessTM. This paper will examine the data from process testworks carried out to estimate the efficiency of the Albion Process™ for the oxidation of materials with a wide composition range prior to cyanidation. The data will be compared to that obtained by direct cyanidation of the feed (without oxidation) and from the testing of pressure oxidation on the feed prior to cyanidation. Albion Process™ tests were conducted in Institute TOMS with participation of Glencore Technology Pty Ltd (Australia). Refractory concentrates obtained from the ores of several Russian and CIS deposits were used as feed for the testing. These concentrates were also subjected to a material composition study and testing using conventional recovery methods. The resulted test data make it possible to perform an integrated assessment of process properties for materials with different compositions, compare performance of various process flowsheets for the materials under study, and conclude on efficiency of Albion Process™ application for gold recovery from refractory materials different in their composition.INTRODUCTION It is often the case that gold ore concentrates are refractory to gold recovery by direct cyanidation. This refractory nature is as a rule attributable to fine gold dissemination in minerals, most often in pyrite and other sulphides, as well as to the increased amount of components impeding cyanide leaching of gold due to cyanide consumption and reducing process conditions. The refractoriness of the concentrates results in low gold recovery values when conventional cyanidation technology is used. In this context, various additional processes are applied to breakdown such refractory sulphide concentrates, i.e. mechanical breakdown (fine and ultrafine grinding), chemical breakdown (atmospheric oxidation, e.g. Leachox, acid-oxygen oxidation, pressure oxidation – POX, bacterial oxidation – BIOX), and thermochemical breakdown (various roasting methods). Such breakdown processes allow for increase in recovery of finely disseminated gold during the downstream cyanidation, however, their application is cost-intensive and does not always ensure economic benefit."

"Deformation behavior of 2A97 aluminum alloy containing coarse secondary phases was studied using uniaxial hot compression (HC, 340–490°C, 0.4001–1 s-1). The flow stress could be described by a Zener-Hollomon parameter in hyperbolic sine function with the hot deformation activation energy of 237 kJ/mol. Based on the experimental data and dynamic materials model, processing maps were generated to demonstrate the hot workability of the alloy. The coarse secondary phases experienced dissolution by varying degree under different deformation temperature, which producing different effects on the microstructure evolution. When deformed at relatively low temperatures, a mass of fine grains shaped up in the original grains and grain boundaries, and the dominating deformation mechanism was believed to be dynamic recrystallization. As the deformation temperature rising to 490°C, most secondary phases disappeared and few recrystallized grains were observed, indicating that the secondary phases dissolved sufficiently along with dynamic recovery occurred during the hot deformation. Particle stimulated nucleation related to the coarse secondary phases was believed to promote the recrystallization and the recrystallization behavior was sensitive to deformation temperature.INTRODUCTION Al-Li alloys has received much attention as new promising structural materials in the aircraft and aerospace industries, due to their lower density, higher elastic modulus and improved fatigue crack growth resistance in comparison with the conventional commercial aluminum alloys (Ou Ling, 2015). 2A97 alloy is one of the 3rd generation Al-Li alloys targeting at comprehensive improvement of aviation aluminum alloy and applications for wing spars and ribs to other internal structures for transport aircraft. Al-Li alloys are usually formed by hot deformation, either by rolling or extruding. The deformation behavior and resulted microstructure evolution during the forming process mainly dominates the formability of the alloy and the serving performances as well. Therefore, the deformation behavior and microstructure evolution at elevated temperature need be made clear for optimizing the hot processing parameters and controlling microstructure evolution."

"Recently, the remarkable strengthening effect of ??-Al(Mn, Fe) Si dispersoids at both ambient temperature and elevated temperature were found by several researches. A large amount of dispersoids can be formed by applying special heat treatments and within a suitable range of chemical composition of AA3xxx alloys. In the present work, the influences of Cr addition on the mechanical properties and microstructures of the Al-Mn-Mg-Si alloys were investigated. The mechanical properties at ambient and elevated temperatures were evaluated by micro-hardness and yield strength. Moreover, the microstructures in as-cast and heat-treated conditions were quantitatively analyzed by optical and electron microscopes. Results revealed that Cr also had effect on the number density and volume fraction of dispersoids. Micro-hardness and yield strength at ambient temperature increased with the increasing content of Cr, and the Cr addition increased the yield strength at elevated temperature as well. Moreover, the creep resistance at 300°C improved dramatically with the increasing content of Cr.INTRODUCTION Traditionally, AA3xxx aluminum alloys were widely used in packaging, automobile and architecture industries, because of its good formability, excellent corrosion resistance and weldability. And AA3xxx alloys were considered as non-heat-treatable alloys. However, the strengthening effect of dispersoids in AA3xxx alloys was discovered recently (Li & Arnberg, 2003;Li, Muggerud, Olsen, & Furu, 2012; Li, Zhang, & Chen, 2016; Liu & Chen, 2015).Alarge amount of dispersoids could precipitate by a proper heat treatment.In order to further improve AA3xxxalloys, the composition of the alloys should be optimized. A few previous studies were reported to investigate the influence of compositions on AA3xxx alloys. Adding Mn element could enhance the precipitation of ??-Al(Mn, Fe)Si dispersoids and improve the yield strength(Muggerud, Mørtsell, Li, & Holmestad, 2013), as long as the concentration of Mn was under the solid solution limit. Fe decreased the solubility of Mn and accelerated the precipitation rate of ??-Al(Mn, Fe)Sidispersoids(Li & Arnberg, 2003), the yield strength and creep resistance at elevated temperature could increase with an optimized content of Fe(Liu & Chen, 2016). Mg element would affect the nucleation process of ??-Al(Mn, Fe)Sidispersoids by forming metastable Mg2Si(Hirasawa, 1975; Li, Zhang, & Chen, 2017a; Lodgaard & Ryum, 2000), metastable Mg2Si precipitated during heating process and promoted the precipitation of ??-Al(Mn, Fe)Sidispersoids, moreover, Mg provided solid solution strength for AA3004 alloys(Li et al., 2016). Si increased the volume fractionof ??-Al(Mn, Fe)Sidispersoids(Muggerud et al., 2013)and decreased the size of ??-Al(Mn, Fe)Sidispersoids(Li, Zhang, & Chen, 2017b). With the addition of Mo, the size of dispersoids became finer with a higher volume fraction, the volume percentage of dispersoid free zones was reduced. Elevated temperature yield strength and creep resistance improved due to Mo addition (Liu, Ma, & Chen, 2017).However, the effect of Crelements on microstructure and mechanical properties of AA3xxx alloys were rarely reported."

"Nowadays, long periods of relatively low iron ore prices have made the steel industry get the greater pressure. To develop appropriate processing technology based on characteristics of the iron ore, so as to reduce the beneficiation costs, is crucial to the improvement of iron and steel enterprise competition. For a typical low-grade iron ore from northeast China, beneficiation process research was conducted based on the in-depth studies of ore characteristics. Results show that the iron grade of the ore was 31.56%, the content of FeO was 6.59%, the main iron minerals were hematite and magnetite with fine dissemination sizes and partly scattering in gangue; With the grinding fineness of 65% passing 0.074mm, and regrinding fineness of 90% passing 0.074mm, the concentrate with 66.80% iron and recovery of 82.90% was obtained via the combined flowsheet of stage grinding – classification – gravity concentration – low and high intensity magnetic separation – reverse flotation. Ratios of gravity concentration and low intensity magnetic separation were 70.21% and 7.57% respectively in 40.42% of total concentrate yield; The loss of micro-size fractions can be reduced by feeding spiral tailings into magnetic separation and flotation; It’s helpful in reducing the dosage of reagents and beneficiation costs by increasing the throughput of gravity concentration and outputting concentrate of low intensity magnetic separation.INTRODUCTION Iron and steel industries are facing the increasing pressures in the continued falling iron ore prices. In order to improve the competitiveness, it is extremely urgent for them to develop more appropriate separation process for the reduction in iron ore beneficiation cost. As a typical low-grade iron ore, Anshan-type iron ore is one of the most important iron ore resources in China [1-3]. The flowsheet of stage grinding and separation contained the classification of the coarse particles and the fine particles, the gravity concentration, the magnetic separation and the anionic reverse flotation has been widely applied for Anshan-type iron ore. With the appropriate separation progress as well as equipment, satisfactory separation results had been obtained, and mineral particles with different size were recovered separately [4-7]. However, the low recovery of fine mineral particles and the relatively high beneficiation costs still prevented the efficient application of the process [8]. For a Anshan-type low-grade iron ore, a typical process flowsheet, as mentioned earlier, with stage grading, classification of the coarse particles and the fine particles, gravity concentration, magnetic separation, anionic reverse flotation was adopted currently. And the concentrate with 67.10% iron and recovery of 75.50% was obtained and the gravity concentrate accounted for 39% of the total concentrate. However, a large amount of fine liberated iron ore particles were lost in the tailings."

"Generally, the concentration of bauxite flotation tailings is around 10%, a large amount of water in tailings needed to be recycled in the flotation process. Sedimentation and dewatering properties of tailings were investigated under different conditions. Surface high negative charges on mineral particles are the key factor to destroy the settlement of tailings when the pulp pH is around 8.9. Hence, the modification of pulp pH around 7 is necessary to the diminution of the repulsive force between mineral particles and then the acceleration of sedimentation of tailings. Anionic polyacrylamine with molecular weight of 14 million is the best flocculant for the settlement of tailings in all tested polyacrylamines. P-toluene sulfonic acid shows better properties than hydrochloric acid for pulp pH adjustment when anionic polyacrylamine with molecular weight of 14 million is used as flocculant. Although the flotation of diaspore is depressed in the presence of polyacrylamine using sodium oleate as collector, but the recycling water traded by the combination of ployacrylamine and p-touenesulfonic acid does not show the depression effects on the flotation of bauxite ore. The lower residual content of polyacrylamine in recycling water treated by the combination of ployacrylamine and p-touene sulfonic acid plays an important role. INTRODUCTION Generally, the waste water generated from mineral processing plant is usually treated by sedimentation, oxidization, electrodialysis, ions exchange, active carbon adsorption and flotation technology, and the treated water is also used again in the industrial process. Flotation was adopted widely to improve the quality of bauxite from low grade diasporic bauxite in China. For flotation, the grinding fineness of bauxite is over 90% -0.074 mm, sodium carbonate and sodium hexametaphosphate were used as regulators, so the tailings pulp is very difficult to settle and be dewatered (Y. Wang et al., 2004; Y. H. Wang et al., 2007; Wang Yu-hua et al., 2008; Wang Yuhua et al., 2011). The water recycling of bauxite tailings are becoming the highlight for the industrial application of the flotation process for bauxite ore. Researchers in China shift their attentions onto this topic."

Liberation is one of the major purposes of comminution in mineral processing. In the simplest form, two or more minerals are present in a particle and have to be reduced such that the individual particles contain only one mineral. The complexity of the mineral intergrowth varies from ore to ore. Poor magnetic separation of iron ore may have many causes. In this paper, the emphasis is given to the problem of fine magnetite inclusions in quartz or other gangue minerals. This is highlighted by two Norwegian cases: one on a magnetite ore and the other on a hematite/magnetite ore. The inclusions in question are so small that they are not liberated by reasonable grinding. In both cases, the result has been either poor recovery or lower grade concentrates than desired. The first example concerns production of direct reduction concentrates from magnetite. Magnetic inclusions in gangue particles will be magnetized enough for the particles to pass into the concentrate. The second example is given a more detailed study, where the problem is caused by silicates with small inclusions of magnetite in a combined LIMS and WHIMS separation. This study included microscopy, Davies tube testing, and magnetization measurements. In particular, large gangue particles with magnetite inclusions were shown to have a tendency to bypass the LIMS separators as drag forces in presence of hematite are large. Such particles will then be picked up by the WHIMS as their magnetization is higher than for hematite. This was demonstrated by Davies tube tests, which indicated that such particles were picked up in preference to hematite particles. However, the Davies results did not give a good quantification. Magnetization measurements of gangue particles with magnetite inclusions was shown to be a better tool to quantify the magnitude of the effect of magnetite inclusions in magnetic separation.

"Mineral and industrial raw material mining and preparation make a negative impact on the environment. The main types of impact are the land resources gathering, soil and water balance disturbance, surface-water, underground space and atmospheric air pollution, as well as the vast amount of solid and liquid waste production. Considerable attention in recent decades has been given to waste recycling. The task is to maximize the use of both newly formed and accumulated solid and liquid wastes. The mining and mining and smelting enterprises industrial waters are a very promising source of secondary hydromineralic raw materials. They have high concentrations of not only calcium, sodium, but also, for example, lithium, rubidium, heavy non-ferrous metals. In general, unfortunately, we have to state that today there is no wide practice of extracting valuable components from waste enrichment, as well as processing of man-made waters to extract metals from them. The quantity of extracted components from underground, and furthermore passing waters, is insignificant. At the same time there is a tendency to increased demand for rare metals: Sr, B, Br, I. This is explained by their wide use in many industries. For example, the consumption of lithium products is steadily increasing. The obtained results showed that in the liquid phase in connection with high salt content and a significant difference in the macro- and microcomponents contents, conditions are initially created for the microcomponents selective isolation possibility. The identified conditions realization is most possible in such technological processes as cryotechnology, sorption and ion flotation. There is an urgent need to expand research in this direction and to recognize as a publicly important task the mining and industrial waste processing full-scale introduction into the practice of operating mining and processing enterprises and iron and steel companies.INTRODUCTION Mineral and industrial raw material mining and preparation make a negative impact on the environment. "Heap leaching is well-established as a relatively low-cost and low-energy method of extracting metals from low grade ores. However, the design methodology, attention to the engineering details during heap construction and the long time scale in metal recovery makes the process susceptible to significant variation in the success of a heap leach operation. Often the laboratory predicted recovery rates are not achieved on site due to poor understanding of the complex physics of flow and coupled solid-liquid-thermal reactions within the multi-dimensional heterogeneous ore body. Given the large scale of commercial operations, small changes in metal recovery can substantially change the operating profitability. While there are a variety of approaches to heap leach modeling, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling coupled with leach kinetic models offers a methodology to describe and understand the complexities of heap leaching. The CFD model uses leach kinetics specific for the mineralogy of the ore, including gangue chemistry, and provides an energy balance to calculate and predict temperature. Coupled with the CFD model’s inherent capability for modeling complex fluid flow, the physics and the chemistry of the heap can be simulated. This provides a tool for engineering design, as well as forecasting heap production under different scenarios. The calibrated model is used to simulate a three-dimensional test heap under fluctuating meteorological data, such as precipitation events, periodic solution application, and notably temperature. These simulations provide support for a methodology to design and engineer heap leaching of low grade copper sulfide ore. INTRODUCTION Worldwide copper ore reserves are faced with decreasing head grades with copper sulfides, particularly chalcopyrite being the predominant mineralogy (Nesse, 2000). Heap leaching offers an economical way to recover copper from low grade ore. The ore is stacked and a leach solution is applied and allowed to trickle though the porous bed of ore to extract target metals. The heap can be built with run of mine material or crushed ore and is constructed in order to achieve percolation of the leach solution to all regions. Bartlett (1998) provides an authoritative overview of the solution mining process where the leach solution interacts with the solid, the lixiviant dissolves the target minerals from the solid into the solution, and the dissolved species are transported out of the heap for subsequent recovery. Petersen (2016) provides a recent review of heap leach technology and emerging and potential future applications, and Ghorbani et al. (2016) summarizes the current state and challenges of the technology. Early applications of heap leaching offered a low cost technique to achieve high recoveries from oxide ores, typically greater than 70% depending upon the kinetics of reaction. As world copper resources transition to mainly copper sulfide mineralogy, such as chalcopyrite based ores, achieving high recovery from these copper sulfide deposits is proving more difficult due to the complexity of the leach kinetics, which leads to low leaching efficiency."

The research and development of new, more selective collectors in order to improve flotation efficiency represent one of the main priorities in the development of innovative technologies pertaining to flotation separation of various substances and minerals. The use of collectors’ mixtures is considered as the universal instrument for ensuring necessary proportion of chemically and physically sorbed collecting reagents in every individual case. Currently hard-dressed, refractory ores and man-made raw materials, which are characterized by low content of valuable components, fine dissemination of mineral assemblages and similar technological properties of constituent minerals, are widely involved in the recycling processes. The possibility of processing tailings, which are left after flotation beneficiation, has been considered in the case study of tailings of the Zhezkazgan beneficiation plant and the Tishinsk copper ore deposit with utilization of the modified multifunctional flotation reagents. Modified poly-functional collector is the mixture of composite Aerofloat, TC-1000 and butyl xanthate. Reactants ratio is 1:1:3. The advantage of the suggested flotation reagents is that they are composed of two polar groups and have a long hydrocarbon radical. This structure, being in the water during flotation process, plays a dual role: first, as a collector adsorbing on the mineral surface it produces metal complexes with polar groups in the form of bridges; second, apolar radicals flocculate valuable slimed components, thereby intensifying flotation process. It has been shown that flotation of Zhezkazgan tailings with utilization of the lesser modified reagent amount compared to butyl xanthate has enabled to produce crude copper concentrate with 13.0 % copper grade and 80.22 %recovery. Compared to the baseline technology, copper content of crude concentrate has been increased by 5.1 % and the recovery by 31.4 %. It is shown that tailings flotation of the Tishinsky field by applying modified collector allows for increase of the of useful components extraction in a collective concentrate with: copper 9.63 %, lead for 8.41%, zinc 9.2 %, iron 2.73 %, gold 3.57 %.

"In case of free gold presence in ore, there is always problem of a choice between the gravity-flotation and gravity separation flowsheets. Study of morphology of gold being extracted by different methods allows to find the most efficient solution. One of the latest methods of gold concentration for wide range of grain size (-0.8+0 mm) is a flash flotation. The paper presents comparative testing results of flash and centrifugal separation.The goal of the studies was to determine process and flotation parameters of flash flotation. In case valued minerals are soft if compared to host rock, such minerals tend to concentrate into circulating load of grinding circuit. Thus, valued minerals can be overground, and in turn, will result in low extraction in flotation circuit. Integration of flash flotation operation into process flowsheet has been evaluated. Flash flotation operation can be successfully used not only for gold but also copper, lead, nickel and silver minerals.With low-sulphide ores being a case study under laboratory conditions, various flotation (impeller rotational speed, air flowrate) and process (pulp density, collector consumption, frother consumption, time of flotation) parameters were studied in view of its impact on gold flash flotation. Experiments were carried out under laboratory conditions using special pneumatic mechanical flotation machines.INTRODUCTIONGravity separation is used for extraction of coarse gold before cyanidation and before flotation of polymetallic ores to increase gold total recovery into gravity copper and lead concentrates.Benefit of the flash flotation is efficient recovery of coarse gold carrier particles (sulphides) thus preventing its regrinding and, as a result, low recovery. Furthermore, combination of flash and conventional flotation results in final tailings that do not require further cyanidation.Combined gravity-flotation flowsheets are designed for concentration of ores containing gold within thewide range of grain sizes (see Table 1)."

"In most of the coal washeries, Dense Medium Cyclone’s (DMC) are deployed to treat coarse coal fraction in the range of 50-0.5 mm. DMC’s are very popular due to its ability of high tonnage, ease of operation and effective separation at high near-gravity material (NGM) in feed coal. The ease or difficulty of washing is merely depending on the NGM fraction present in run of mine coal. However, the quantitative effect of NGM on DMC performance was not explored in the literature. Hence, in this investigation, the influence of NGM on DMC performance is focused. With the help of synthetically prepared coal mixture, the effect of NGM mass fraction on separation efficiency is studied in three different approaches. Firstly, by increasing the NGM coal fraction systematically from low to as high as possible; second by varying the distribution of NGM coal; and third by varying distribution of particles lying just above and below the near-gravity zone. Washability studies are also carried out to establish the theoretical yield for the prepared synthetic mixtures. Pilot-plant experiments are carried out in a 4-inch DMC with 1.4 operating separation density treating coal in the size range of 4 - 0.5 mm. From results, the partition curves are constructed by both density and size wise distributions. It is observed that at higher NGM coal fraction i.e above 60%, the performance of DMC is very poor with significant coal particles misplacement. In second approach with increased distribution at higher density fractions, the separation efficiency reduces. In third series the distribution of fraction in near-gravity zone doesn’t much effect the separation except the shift in separation density. It is observed that smaller size (-0.5 mm) coal particle having high NGM content seems have a profound effect on DMC performance leading to significant fines misplacement to wrong products."

"Direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) is a metal additive manufacturing technology that creates highly complex components by fusing metal powder into a solid part. In this study, the impact of surface roughness on corrosion resistivity of AlSi10Mg_200C alloy manufactured through DMLS was investigated. The as-printed DMLS-AlSi10Mg _200C alloy was subjected to various surface finishing processes including grinding and sandblasting. The corrosion performance of the surfaces was then evaluated using potentiodynamic polarization testing and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in a 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution to mimic seawater environment. Surface characterization and corrosion morphology of the samples were assessed by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. The results of this study show that the surface finishing process and the resultant surface roughness has a significant impact on the corrosion resistivity of the DMLS-AlSi10Mg_200C alloy in the seawater environment.INTRODUCTION Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), also known as Selective Laser Melting (SLM) (Sames, List, Pannala, Dehoff, & Babu, 2016), Laser Beam Melting (LBM), or Laser Metal Fusion (LMF) (Herzog, Seyda, Wycisk, & Emmelmann, 2016), is an additive manufacturing process that utilizes a precise, high-power laser to micro-join powdered metals and alloys layer by layer to form almost fully dense and functional components in three dimensions from the 3D computer-aided design (CAD) data. "The geological environment of the certain uranium-molybdenum deposit is very complicated. While the study of process mineralogy is relatively few, which restricting the processing and leaching effect of ores. According to reaserch on process mineralogy of this mine, the basis of ore processing can be provided. The main contents of research are the uranium occurrence state and the influence of H2O2 in acid leaching. By various methods and experiments, the process of uranium mineralogical characteristics in this deposit are systematically studied. The results show that the uranium is mainly in the form of independent uranium minerals. The structures of these uranium minerals are venous and disseminated in mineral fissures, or microgranular inclusions in quartz and feldspar. It is not appropriate to concentrate the uranium minerals by flotation beneficiation because that the loss rate of target metals via water leaching process is very high. The ores are suitable for being acid leaching directly with 6% – 8% of H2O2, and the maximum leaching rate of uranium can be 96.88%. INTRODUCTION The uranium ores with associated elements have a large proportion in uranium resources (Lei, et al., 2014, Xing, et al., 2006; Ritchy and Wong, 1985). The uranium and molybdenum are easy to be paragenesis in nature enviroment because of their similar chemical properties. Therefor the uranium-molybdenum associated deposits are widely existing, such as the sedimentary sandstone uranium deposit in American with vanadium and molybdenum, the sedimentary sandstone uranium deposits in French with vanadium (Chen, et al., 2014; Lounis, 1997). A certain epithermal porphyry uranium-molybdenum deposit in China is mainly controlled by the subrhyolite- porphyry and the fault zone (Lv, 2012; Rui, 2010; Liu, et al., 2010). The ore properties of this deposit are complex, which include the high alteration degree, and the fine grain size of the target minerals (Ma, et al., 2013). The ore properties and occurrence state are quite different during each mining stage. As a consequence, the consumption of reagent increased and the leaching rate declined as long as the continuously mining. The author explored the best leaching rate of target elements According to the basic research on process mineralogy of present ores, experimental study of water leaching and oxidizing acid leaching on different particle sizes."

"Design of effective mine water treatment plants depends on the ability to reliably predict treatment outcomes, but systems with multiple chemical and physical treatment processes and recycle loops can be difficult to model. GoldPHREEQC is a modeling framework that integrates mass and flow routing capabilities of GoldSim software and water quality calculations provided by PHREEQC, and is well-suited to modeling parameters of interest in the mining industry, especially metals and sulfate. Physical processes such as membrane separation and greensand filtration are modeled by defining mass rejections for each parameter and flow routing based on vendor projections and bench- or pilot-scale equipment testing. GoldPHREEQC models chemical precipitation processes such as HDS metals removal and gypsum precipitation by (1) performing surface-aging and solubility calculations in PHREEQC and (2) using the GoldSim framework to direct supernatant and precipitate to subsequent process steps. Users can apply this modeling framework to predict effluent water quality, chemical requirements, sludge production, and required equipment capacity to support design, troubleshooting, and cost estimating.
