This paper shows the usefulness of geostatistical conditional simulation combined with the quantification of sampling errors obtained from the analyses of fundamental errors ? validated from duplicate data ? to assess the relevance of the quality and quantity of the information, for short-term mine planning purposes. Traditional blast-hole drilling equipment has been designed for efficient drilling, but not for obtaining high-quality samples. Furthermore, blast-hole sampling interferes with production, and thus usually produces poor-quality results. These results are the basis of short-term plans, where the grades of selective mining units are estimated and used for distinguishing between ore and waste. Under these conditions, misclassification (ore blocks sent to the waste dump and waste blocks processed at the plant) is inevitable, leading to significant hidden losses that can amount to millions of dollars per annum. Reverse circulation drilling with the latest automated sampling technology improves significantly the quality of the information used for short-term planning, and thus reduces misclassification, improving the financial returns of the operation. In this paper, we present the general methodology for assessing the effect of poor blast-hole sampling, as compared to advanced reverse circulation drilling grids at several spacings, in order to arrive at the most appropriate grid for short-term planning. This plan can be prepared well in advance using several additional variables that are usually not available when the plan is based on blast-hole samples. Furthermore, blending options can be analysed in order to optimize plant recovery, minimize the use of sulphuric acid, etc. Three case studies are presented, namely a typical porphyry copper deposit, an exotic oxide copper deposit, and a complex gold deposit, where mineralization is controlled by structures and lithology. This paper shows that in all cases, advanced reverse circulation drilling grids provide good-quality information that, coupled with the use of geostatistics for short-term mine planning, significantly improve the financial returns of the operation.

"The roasting and gas handling circuits of the Barrick Gold’s new Roasting Facility at the Goldstrike Mine in Nevada, USA incorporate well proven technologies in a unique combination. During the design of the plant, every effort was made to utilize the best available technologies from the perspective of capital, environment and operating costs.Product from the up-stream dry grinding circuit requires roasting to maximize gold recovery. The roaster utilizes Freeport-McMoRan whole ore roasting technology with pure oxygen as the oxidizing gas. This process was chosen based on its proven application on Carlin-type “double refractory” ores. Double refractory is indicative of the gold being difficult to direct leach due to a combination of pyrite encapsulation and the carbonaceous preg-robbing of the ore.A very extensive gas cleaning train follows the roaster and comprises direct cooling, dust scrubbing, indirect cooling, wet electrostatic precipitation, mercury scrubbing, SO2 scrubbing, CO incineration and NO, reduction before venting to the atmosphere.The roasted calcine is quenched, neutralized and then thickened before leaching in the carbon-in-leach-circuit.INTRODUCTIONBarrick’s strategic development plan integrated the production of gold from Goldstrike’s carbonaceous ore reserves by 2000. A due diligence review of carbonaceous ore processing options was initiated during the second half of 1 996. Processes considered included autoclaving followed by a proprietary ammonium thiosulfate leaching process, fine grinding/autoclaving as practiced then by Santa Fe, and whole ore roasting as practiced by then Independence Mining and Newmont. The objective by year-end was to recommend the most robust and economical process for Goldstrike’s carbonaceous resources. In the fall of 1996, a detailed review of roasting as a processing alternative for Goldstrike was initiated."

"The successful introduction of new high intensity stirred milling technologies (e.g. IsaMill, SMDetritor) to the mining industry in recent years prompted Noranda-Falconbridge to initiate a study comparing these technologies to the conventional technologies of ball milling and existing vertical stirred mills (e.g. VertiMill). The study was unique in that it utilized the same material (Brunswick Mine zinc cleaner regrind mill feed), the same sizing instrument (a Malvern laser difractometer) and sampling protocol, and media size and type (for the high intensity stirred mills). The paper compares the net energy efficiency (kWh/t) of the various technologies, their power intensity (kW/m3) and product size distribution spread (P80/P20). A key finding is that media size is critical to achieving optimal performance. As part of the performance comparison, an analysis of the four methods of power measurement was made (Prony brake, shaft torque, grinding chamber reaction torque, “no-load” correction) and followed-up with an experimental test procedure using three of these methods. The findings include divergent results for power measurements and some explanations based on the observations are proposed. The direct shaft torque and Prony brake calibration methods are shown to be the methods most suitable for stirred mills.INTRODUCTIONThe motivation for the investigation reported here was the lack of a suitable comparison within the available literature of relative grinding efficiency for the emerging crop of new industrial fine grinding technologies. Such comparisons are potentially fraught with inconsistency, from ore samples and grinding media used, to testing methodology, to size measurement techniques, to the power measurements themselves. The collaboration of the industrial suppliers (at the time MIM Technologies and Svedala, now Xstrada Technologies and Metso Minerals) and McGill University (P. Radsiszewski) were sought in order to ensure as valid a comparison as possible. The work was performed between October 2000 and November 2002, led by the mineral processing group at the Noranda Technology Centre (NTC) in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. The paper is presented in two sections; Part A considers the different power measurement methods and a comparison of the results for the SMDetritor (SMD) technology, while Part B reviews the grinding performance of the 5 technologies investigated using the selected performance criteria."

"Huckleberry Mines Ltd is an open pit porphyry copper-molybdenum mining operation located 120 km south of Houston, British Columbia with a 18,000 tpd milling facility. Huckleberry Mines is owned 60% by Princeton Mining Corporation, the operator, and 40% by Japanese partners.The Huckleberry deposit is one of several porphyry systems located in the Tahts a district of the intermontane belt of British Columbia. The principal economic minerals are chalcopyrite and molybdenite. The ore deposit is split into two ore deposits, the Main Zone, consisting of24,241,000 tonnes of mineable reserves grading 0.484 %Cu and 0.013 %Mo, and the East Zone, consisting of 66, 131,500 tonnes of mineable reserves grading 0.523 %Cu and 0.014 %Mo.The milling begins with gyratory crushing. This sizes the product down to 100% passing 6 inches. This product is discharged onto a stockpile by a stationary conveyor. The stockpile was designed for a capacity of 144,000 tonnes with a live capacity of 20,000 tonnes. Two apron feeders draw the ore from the bottom of the stockpile and discharge onto a SAG mill feed conveyor which in turn feeds a grinding circuit consisting of one 32' x 15' SAG mill and two 30' x 16.5' ball mills. The grinding cyclone overflow feeds bulk flotation at 55 -65% minus 200 mesh.The bulk flotation uses conventional rougher and column flotation methods to float a bulk concentrate recovering 92.6% copper on the East Zone and 95% copper on the Main Zone with 75% recovery molybdenum on both zones. The bulk concentrate feeds the bulk thickener which produces a density of 60 %solids. This in turn feeds the molybdenum circuit, which separates the copper and molybdenum, by depressing the copper then using conventional rougher and column flotation produces a copper concentrate of 27 %Cu and 0.02 %Mo, and a molybdenum concentrate containing 1.5 %Cu and 54 %Mo at 67% recovery. These concentrates are separately thickened, filtered, dried, and shipped to the smelter for processing."

The performance of the grinding circuit, from the initial stages of operation to the present, is discussed. The mill efficiency as measured by the Bond grindability data and the operating work index is presented. The objective has been to produce a sand cyclone overflow containing not more than 6% +65 mesh. However, this has never been attained even at low milling rates. On the other hand, significant improvements in throughput were achieved by instituting some equipment changes and process modifications within the grinding circuit. The latest approach to solving the coarse grind problem is also discussed.

"Aluminum alloy structural components f or aircraft designed prior to the early 1970s, were machined from 2024, 7075 and 7079 plate, bar and forgings in either the T3xxx of the T6xxx tempers. Protective treatments for these parts consisted of chromic acid anodizing and alkyd zinc chromate primer, plus a nitrocellulose lacquer for exterior parts.The major service problem with these parts was the frequent occurrence of exfoliation corrosion and stress corrosion cracking (S. C. C.). Therefore, 2024 and 7079 alloys, with min or exceptions, were not used in aircraft designed after the early 1970s. Replacement materials were 7075 and 7050 alloys in the overaged, exfoliation corrosion and S. C. C. resistant, T73xxx tempers.The use of improved materials together with the upgrading to chromated epoxy primers, polyurethane enamels and the introduction of water displacing corrosion inhibiting compounds have significantly reduced corrosion in aircraft. IntroductionThe prevention of corrosion in aircraft has been a challenge to aircraft designers for many decades. With the design of the first all-metal aircraft, the designer and builder were thrust into the relatively new field of protective treatments as corrosion started to become more prevalent. This resulted from the continually increasing importance and wider utilization of aircraft, and their exposure to a wider variety of ho stile environments such as urban industrial pollution, high humidity tropical areas and salt ladened marine environments.Corrosion advanced another significant step when, after World War II, designs of new and larger aircraft utilized larger and thicker metal sections in the manufacture of structural components. With thicker mill products came higher residual heat treat, fabrication and assembly stresses resulting in an increased number of stress corrosion and exfoliation corrosion problems.Apart from the exterior environment, aircraft interior s can be exposed to a number of fluids which are either directly or indirectly responsible for corrosion. The most common of the fluids is water which is usually introduced as a result of condensation, especially in pressurized fuselages, and spillage from lavatories, galley s and electrolytes from batteries. These fluid s have a degrading effect on protective treatments and are also corrosive to the substrate metal. Fluids such as phosphate ester hydraulic fluids and ester based turbine engine lubricating oil s are not corrosive to the substrate metal, albeit they do contribute to corrosion by the degrading effect on protective treatments."

IT is now generally admitted by experts that at least so far as rapid progress is concerned the Alpine system of tunnel-driving is superior to any other. This is perhaps natural in view of the record of experience in driving tunnels through the Alps. These great mountain-chains cannot be treated in the ordinary way by shaft-sinking and driving headings, thus multiplying the points of attack. The work must be done from the ends only, hence speed in driving is of the utmost importance; and, as necessity is the mother of invention, the concentration of effort to make progress has resulted in an organization and in mechanical appliances that have produced results so much in excess of the usual practice, even in America, that a discussion of the subject in detail should be of much value to the engineer and contractor. The first Alpine tunnel was the Mont Cenis, length 7.5 miles, driven with a progress that averaged about 7.75 ft. per day. Next came the Saint Gothard, 9.5 miles long, 18 ft. per day; Arlberg, 6.5 miles long, 27.25 ft. per day; Simplon, 12.25 miles long, 36 ft. per day. The figures represent progress when driving from two headings, so that by dividing them in two we get the daily single-heading progress. The latest of the Alpine tunnels is the Loetschberg, now being driven. In this work the world's record has been beaten by a single day's record in one heading of 36 ft. and by an average daily record in. one heading of 29.5 feet. The Alpine range forms a natural barrier between a large section of northern and southern Europe. Penetration and dissolution mechanisms are reviewed for predominantly single-phase oxide, two phase oxide and oxide-carbon composite refractories by liquid silicate slags. Theoretical models of these processes, as well as static (sessile drop, dipping and crucible) and dynamic (rotating finger and rotary slag) experimental tests, along with their practical limitations are considered. Direct (congruent or homogeneous) attack is controlled by the reaction rate at the slag-refractory interface or the rate of diffusive transport of species to it through the slag leading to active corrosion. Indirect (incongruent or heterogeneous) attack is controlled by diffusive transport through the slag or through a new solid phase, which forms at the original slag-refractory interface. This may lead to passive corrosion. Examples of direct and indirect attack in a range of refractory/slag systems are described highlighting the critical influence of the composition and hence viscosity of the local liquid slag adjacent the solid refractory. Penetration and corrosion can be controlled either through the local slag composition via the refractory or the bulk slag or by microstructural control of the refractory by e.g. internal generation of dense layers or external deposition/generation of passive coatings, so-called in situ refractories.

"Northern Minerals Limited’s (ASX: NTU) flagship project is the Browns Range Rare Earth Project (the Project) located in Western Australia, consisting of a number of deposits with high value, heavy rare earth elements, in particular yttrium, terbium, and dysprosium. The deposits are dominated by xenotime mineralisation, which occurs within hydrothermal silicified and hematitic breccias. The Company delivered an initial JORC compliant resource estimate for the Project at the end of 2012 of 10,500 t of contained total rare earth oxides (TREO), which was increased to 28,084t of contained TREO in October 2013 and further enlarged to 47,997 t of contained TREO in February 2014. Concurrent with the growth of the Project resource base, significant progress has been made in developing the metallurgical process for the beneficiation and extraction of rare earth elements (REE’s) from the xenotime mineralisation. Development of the beneficiation circuit evaluated several process options and selected whole-ore flotation and magnetic separation, followed by flotation (hybrid circuit) as the two preferred flowsheets to pilot, following encouraging results on the bench of 83% and 86% recovery to a 20% TREO mineral concentrate respectively. Several downstream hydrometallurgical extraction flowsheets were evaluated. However, the following two preferred process flowsheets were ultimately selected for further detailed investigation during the prefeasibility study: 1. Sulphation bake, water leach, purification, oxalate precipitation, and/or calcination to produce a mixed RE oxide; 2. Sulphation bake, water leach, phosphate precipitation, caustic conversion, HCl leach, and oxalate precipitation to produce a mixed RE oxalate. Excellent heavy rare earth oxide (HREO) extractions (~ 90%) from beneficiation concentrates were achieved on the bench for both circuits, however flowsheet 1 was ultimately selected as the preferred flowsheet to pilot due to lower capital and operating cost. A mixed rare earth oxalate (42% TREO) or oxide (92% TREO) can be produced with low levels of Th and U of 3 ppm and 6 ppm respectively."

The C.S.I.R.O. acid alumina process employs the essential steps of digestion, hydrolysis and calcination to produce pure alumina from ores too high in silica or too low in grade for the Bayer process. The two latter stages have been described in some detail previously but the digestion stage requires separate discussion since ores vary widely in composition and reactivity. Kaolinitic clays require roasting to 800°C to render the alumina soluble in the 11 per cent sulphuric acid used in the process while some ferruginous laterites require roasting to reduce the reactivity of iron minerals.The iron content of pregnant solutions is kept at a low figure by digesting at temperatures where the solubilities of ferric oxide or basic ferric sulphates are small. A two-stage, counter-current digestion is necessary to extract a high percentage of alumina from the ores and to produce a basic pregnant liquor with an SO3 : AI 203 ratio of 1'\1 suitable for high temperature hydrolysis. The second stage of digestion, called the modification stage, treats slightly acid liquors with excess of ore in the temperature range 1200-1400C.The first stage operates at 170°-1900C to extract further alumina from modification residues, using recycled acid obtained from later steps of the process. Both temperature ranges are critical for economic operation and for proper control of the iron content of solutions. In batch experiments, 30 min is regarded as a suitable retention time for digestion and modification; ores which require much longer than this are less suitable for the process. Impurities such as silica, and titanium and vanadium oxides are discarded in the residue along with iron oxide, and do not contaminate the final product. Bivalent metallic sulphates such as MgSO4, can build up in the circuit to a very considerable degree without affecting product purity.Comparison with other processes shows that the C.S.I.R.O. process is superior for control of contamination by iron, which is the major problem in acid processes. The pure intermediate product (3Al203.4S03.9H20) is also more convenient for calcination to alumina than the hydrated aluminium sulphate usually recovered in other processes. Detailed cost comparisons must await pilot-plant evaluation of the C.S.LR.O process.

Discussed in the paper is the redesigned reserve/resource classification for solid minerals being put forth by the authors to replace the acting Russian classification of 19961. The new version is based on the traditional foundations of former Russian classifications and the principles of the ‘McKelvey box’, both categorizing mineral resources according to the degree of geological assurance and economic viability. Based on these approaches the classification deliberately deals with both reserve and resource categories very similar to those established by the Geneva Accords in terms of definitions implied. The authors proceed from the UN-ECE proposed concept of ‘reserves’ being a part of ‘total resources’ explored in great detail by geological and feasibility studies and economically mineable at the time of reporting. The draft classification distinguishes ‘proved’, ‘probable’ and ‘possible’ categories of reserves depending on the stage of feasibility assessment carried out, i.e. the degree of detail and accuracy with which modifying factors affecting mineability of an orebody are taken into account. The reserves are regarded as a product of feasibility assessment of ‘measured’, ‘indicated’ and ‘inferred’ resources. The portions of them not having been classified as ‘reserves’ are regarded as composed of two classes: ‘subeconomic’ and ‘potentially economic’ resources (or ‘resource base’). All the cells of the classification matrix are provided with traditional for Russia alphanumeric designations and appropriate UNFC codes. The classification scheme recommended is viewed as a step forward in improvement of the State inventory and reporting mineral resources in market conditions, conducive to cross-border professional collaboration in the field of providing reliable information on the mineral rawmaterials base of the world’s economy. Besides, it recommends an easy way to get rid of amethodological error in the UNFC classification scheme where consecutive stages of geologicalexploration are identified with a single inherent degree of geological assurance. The U.S. Geological Survey has completed a dig-ital coal resource assessment of six of the top-producing coal beds and coal zones in the northern and central Appalachian Basin coal regions. These include the Pennsylvanian-aged Pittsburgh, Upper Freeport, Lower Kittanning, Fire Clay, Pond Creek, and Pocahontas No. 3 coal beds and coal zones. Resources were calculated on all of the coalbeds/zones, with the exception of the Lower Kittanning coal bed. Preliminary original resources are estimated at about 93 billion short tons (84 billion tonnes), of which about 66 billion short tons (60billion tonnes) remain. Much of the remaining coal in all five coal beds/zones is thinner [<3.5 ft (1.07m)] and deeper [>1,000 ft (305 m)] than the coal that has been mined, but economic resources are still available and mining in each coal bed/zones will continue throughout this decade and into the next given current market conditions.

"The Main zone of the Clarence Stream gold deposit is hosted by a shear zone adjacent to the Saint George batholith in southwestern New Brunswick. The mineralization history relates to progressive deformation in the shear zone and the intrusion of the Magaguadavic granodiorite.Of three phases of deformation that have affected the area (D1-D3), D1 is not observed in the Clarence Stream shear zone. Two suites of igneous rocks intrude the shear zone: post-D2, pre-D3 gabbro; and granitic dikes, which crosscut the gabbros. Granitic dikes show a diverse range of relationships to D3 features, from pre-syn-D3 mylonitic fabrics in transposed and highly deformed enclaves, to nondeformed and entirely discordant dikes (post-D3).A variety of veins occur within this shear zone. Zoisite-bearing and later, crosscutting epidote-bearing veins are preserved as relics in quartz-mylonites, and predate quartz veins that host gold mineralization. The epidote-bearing veins are associated with pseudotachylitic cataclasite dikes, consistent with transient brittle failure during ductile deformation.Deformation relates to right-lateral strike-slip motion across the shear zone, and subhorizontal and near-vertical stretching lineations imply transpression. A late (late- or post-D3) dip-slip phase of motion is also apparent, and cooling followed a metamorphic peak early in D2-D3 history. Deformation of the shear zone, and more localized transient brittle failure, provided the permeability for fluid movement and vein emplacement. This scenario is similar to the findings of other studies, in which geochemical, tracer isotopic, and age-dating (U/Pb, 40Ar/39Ar) results suggest that the adjacent Magaguadavic granodiorite provided heat and metals. Deux suites de roches ignées se sont mises en place dans cette zone de cisaillement : un gabbro post D2, pré-D3 et des dykes granitiques qui recoupent le gabbro. Les dykes granitiques montrent une grande diversité de relations avec les structures D3, allant de précoces à synchrones aux fabriques mylonitiques D3 dans des enclaves transportées et fortement déformées à des dykes complètement discordants et non déformés (post-D3).On note diverses veines dans cette zone de cisaillement. Des veines contenant de la zoisite ainsi que des veines d’épidote sécantes plus tardives, lesquelles sont préservées comme reliquats dans les mylonites à quartz et sont plus vieilles que les veines de quartz contenant la minéralisation aurifère. Les veines d’épidote sont associées à des dykes de catacalasite à texture de pseudotachylite, compatibles avec une rupture cassante épisodique durant la déformation ductile.La déformation résulte d’un mouvement décrochant dextre le long de la zone de cisaillement et les linéations d’étirement subhorizontales et quasi-verticales impliquent de la transpression. Une phase tardive (tardi- ou post-D3) de mouvement selon le pendage est aussi apparente, et le refroidissement succède à un pic métamorphique tôt dans l’histoire D2-D3. La déformation de la zone de cisaillement et la rupture cassante épisodique ont fourni la perméabilité nécessaire au mouvement des fluides et à la mise en place des veines. Ce scénario est similaire à celui proposé par d’autres études, dans lesquelles les résultats de géochimie, de traceurs isotopiques et de géochronologie (U/Pb, 40Ar/39Ar) suggèrent que la granodiorite de Magaguadavic avoisinante a fourni la chaleur et les métaux."

It is uncommon these days to read a business magazine or newspaper without finding a reference to Knowledge Management (KM), and its critical importance to corporate success. One definition of KM is: “getting the right knowledge to the right people at the right time and helping them to put information into action in such ways that strive to improve organizational performance.” In the minerals processing industry we could assert that we have been practicing this for years through effective operator training. In most cases we would probably be wrong. Training has certainly filled the need of addressing safety and basic operational issues, but we must collectively focus on education (learning), and the difference, as measured in outcomes, is not at all subtle. This paper briefly examines the history of training and education in the mining industry, and looks in more detail at the impact of one company’s approach to empower its workforce, while keeping the ultimate goal clearly in mind: “The great end of knowledge is not knowledge, but action.” (T.H. An uneven gas distribution through the burden layers inside a blast furnace (BF) results in abnormal gas resistance or pressure changes. Rapid variations in the abnormal gas resistance will lead to the occurrence of channeling. A visualization technology mainly made of pressure distribution was developed to predict BF channeling phenomena in this study. The real-time data of BF shaft pressure was used to create a 3D visual model by neural network algorithms and 3D real-time BF pressure changes were observed. The root mean square deviation (RMSD) of the BF shaft pressure was used as an index to set up the predicting criteria of channeling occurrence with the opening of BF Annular Gap Element (AGE), and a predicting system based on the criteria was built. The two criteria for the channeling alarm are the RMSD of the BF shaft pressure (> 0.15 kg/cm2 ) at the upper two levels, and the AGE opening being greater than 60%. This system has been installed in the China Steel Corporation (CSC) BFs, and the test results showed that a prediction can be obtained 8 to 16 min ahead of channeling allowing sufficient time for the operator to adjust the BF operation in order to avoid the occurrence of channeling.

"Pre-concentration in minerals processing presents clear advantages in energy efficiency, water efficiency, reduction of consumables and minimization of capital and operating costs. Outotec’s sorting solutions are powered by Tomra Sorting in order to achieve pre-concentration of concentrator feed in a variety of mineral processing applications. Sensor based sorting combines advanced sensors with rapid computational evaluation and mechanical separation of valuable material from waste and/or gangue. Modern sensor based sorting machines typically use fine air jets to propel individual rocks, thus optimizing recovery and minimizing “mis-sorting”.Gold is generally present in such low concentrations that sensors suitable for ore sorting cannot directly detect it. Therefore, in order to sort gold ore, properties of associated host rock are used. Free and sulphidic gold is often hosted on the quartz-host rock contact zone. Laser scattering effect can be used to detect the surfaces of quartz and composite quartz-host rock particles for subsequent sorting with very high recovery of 95 to 99%. In addition, ore often preferentially fractures along the quartz-host rock contact zone in the crushing circuit. This behavior helps because it liberates more quartz for detection.The feasibility of sorting is investigated for four gold projects in Northern Europe with similar mineralogy. This includes geometallurgical evaluation, amenability testing, small scale “mini-bulk” factory testing in full scale sensor based sorting. The results of the various tests are presented and basic feasibility demonstrated with information on flow sheet development. In addition, the amenability process is evaluated and recommendations made for future projects."

Although cyclones have been around in their current form since the early-1890s, there have been some exciting new developments, which have extended their efficiency/operation. These developments have taken place with both dense medium and classification cyclones. The more noteworthy developments are:Inlet designInlet design is the determining factor in classification cyclone capacity and efficiency. The recently developed ribbon inlet with patented pressure bulge has not only resulted in unbelievable increases in capacity, but also in efficiency. Sharpness of separation corresponding to an alpha value of greater than four has been achieved! Secondary offtakeOne of the factors leading to reduced cyclone efficiency is the presence of coarse particles in the cyclone overflow. The secondary offtake has been developed specifically to scavenge these particles from the cyclone overflow with great success. Water injectorThe other major factor resulting in reduced cyclone efficiency is the presence of misplaced fine particles in the cyclone underflow. The water injector, which has been around for many years in various forms, can reduce this short circuit fraction by up to 50 per cent. 3-in-1 cycloneThe 3-in-1 cyclone combines the inlet design, secondary off take and water injector into a single unit resulting in the most efficient classification cyclone available in the market. The RejectorTMIron ore has a high yield to underflow and traditional dense medium cyclones have always been spigot constrained. The Rejector TM is an exciting new development whereby the spigot capacity has been increased substantially. The application of the Rejector TM will result in fewer/smaller cyclones being required for a given duty resulting in efficiency gains and reductions in both operating and maintenance costs.

With the success of their existing casino operation on the Ohio River in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, the Indiana Gaming Co., LP planned a major expansion of the current facilities. This expansion includes a second 1400+/- car parking garage, a new surface parking lot, elevated walkways, and a new floating casino that will double their present square footage and consolidate all of the gaming activity to one floor. In March of 2006 Richard Goettle, Inc. was awarded the general contract to construct a 260? x 520? boat slip for the new Argosy VII floating casino. An Open Cell® bulkhead system was specified as the means for constructing the new slip. Our contract included the purchase and installation of 300,000 square feet of PS27.5 sheet pile, excavation of 230,000 cubic yards of soil, and a 3300 square foot Mechanically Stabilized Earth wall.
