The t10 relationship developed by Narayanan and Whiten has underpinned a number of the JKMRC models and the characterisation of ore competence through impact testing with the drop weight tester. This usefulness is based on a consistent relationship between the t10 value and the overall size distribution that was noted for brittle rocks. However, like all characterisation tests this should be used only when the controlling conditions apply, which in this case is single impact breakage between two metal platens and within the range of sizes in which fragment sizes are normalizable. For any other mode of breakage the relationship should be confirmed before being applied. Soft ores or bimodal ores with widely different competence between dominant components have non-typical breakage signatures. Breakage via single point impact abrasion, compressed-bed breakage, low-energy surface breakage and incremental breakage, to name some of the other breakage modes, do not obey the general t10 relationship, so their outcomes cannot be used to provide a direct comparison. Inappropriate use of the t10 parameter can result in misleading conclusions about efficiency of energy use. These issues and alternative comparison techniques are presented and discussed in terms of choosing appropriate measures of efficiency of breakage, ore competence and energy required for comminution.

Most of the Indian coking coals are medium coking and of very high ash content. Beneficiation of these coals is a must for their utilisation in coke making. During washing while the ash content of the coal is reduced, the same is expected to affect the reactive-inert ratio and the proportion of various petrographic constituents in the clean coal. This will affect the coking behaviour, including the expansion characteristics, of such coal. An increase in expansion behaviour of coal increases the wall pressure and may damage the battery wall. Therefore, close monitoring of coking properties along with drop in ash is necessary for smooth use of the coal in coke ovens. An effort is, therefore, essential to understand the impact of washing on its coking properties. The studies were carried out with captive coals of Tata Steel, India. Three medium coking coal samples namely, VII A, VI A and XI SEB seam coals of West Bokaro Colliery were used for the study. The coal samples after washing to different ash levels were subjected to the following analysis: proximate, crucible swelling number (CSN), LT GK test, dilatometer and plastometer tests and petrography. The experimental data were then analysed to assess the relationship of various coking properties of the coal with its ash content. The studies clearly show that there is a strong impact of beneficiation of the coal on its coking behaviour. The impacts are more at lower level of ash in the clean coal. In general, the coking properties increase with a decrease in ash. This is primarily due to an enrichment of vitrinte materials in the clean coal and an increase in the reactive-inert ratio in the coals. However, the most important impact of the lowering ash is on the increase in the swelling nature of the coal. The coals with lower ash become highly expanding in nature. This may be very critical from operations of coke ovens point of view, especially stamp charged coke ovens. Necessary precaution should be taken in selecting the other coal blend constituents when these coals are beneficiated to a very low level of ash content.

"The most important metals in the jewelry sector are undoubtedly gold and silver. As a result of workmanship work done in the jewelry industry, the tiny metal and jewel fragments and metallic powders are scattered. Given the prices of gold and silver on the market, the dust that emanates from these workshops is of great importance. Gold recycling has become as important as raw material production within the mass market and gold production industry. In 2016, 29% of the world gold supply has been obtained through recycled gold production. Waste derived from jewelry activity is included in this category, and represents an essential component of this percentage. In the scope of this study, the recovery possibilities of Au and Ag from jewelry sweeps floor sample was investigated using flotation method. In the experiments, optimum pH value, particle size, the effect of dispersant, type and amount of reagent were investigated. As a result of these studies, it was determined that the optimum pH value was 6.5 and the particle size was -212 microns. It was observed that the most suitable reactive combination was Aero 242 and Aerophine 3418A and Na2SiO3 has no positive effect on recovery of Au and Ag as a dispersant agent. As a result of tests, a final concentrate containing 268 ppm Au and 2122 ppm Ag was obtained with 81.4% and 74.5% recovery respectively. INTRODUCTION Because of the softness of pure gold, it is usually alloyed with base metals for use in jewelry, altering its hardness and ductility, melting point, color and other properties. On the other hand, gold has some special chemical properties which in normal conditions, don’t react with water, dry or humid air, oxygen, ozone, nitrogen, hydrogen, fluorine, iodine, sulfur and hydrogen. Humankind has known silver since prehistoric times like gold because silver occurs in native form. The metal is found in the Earth's crust in the pure, free elemental form native, as an alloy with gold and other metals, and in mineral such as argentite. Most silver is produced as a byproduct of copper, gold, lead, and zinc refining. Silver is very soft metal like gold also, it is the highest electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, and the lowest electrical contact resistance of all metals (Habashi, 1997). The feed of flotation unit in Angouran mine, as a part of Iranian Lead and Zinc National Corporation, contains about 34.26% zinc (about 12% Zn sulphide) and 10.14% lead (about 2% Pb sulphide). The grade of Pb and Zn in the final concentrate (rougher+scavenger), under optimal conditions (200 g/ton PEX, 500 g/ton zinc sulfate, 30 g/ton MIBC and pH = 7.5), was 63.18% and 13.01%, respectively, and the total Pb (sulphide-oxide) recovery was about 19% which included 95% Pb sulphide. The grade of Pb and Zn in rougher concentrate step was about 71.86% and 5.97%, respectively, when PEX (Potassium Ethyl Xanthate) was used as collector. While in the presence of PAX (Potassium Amyl Xanthate), the grade of Pb and Zn in rougher concentrate step was 66.8% and 10%, respectively. Tailing of the galena flotation (with 8.48% Pb grade and 34.92% Zn grade under the optimal conditions) was used as a feed for sphalerite and oxide section flotation.

Associated with the development of a novel microbiological oxidation process for the conditioning of iron hydroxide slurries from ferrous mine waters, there is a realistic chance to make the contained iron available for a material utilization. The transformation of ferrous into ferric compounds is coupled with the precipitation of iron hydroxisulphate mostly in terms of the mineral Schwert-mannite. The further treatment of the iron hydroxisulphate has to be aimed on the processing for product recovery and product refinement. For many potential applications, e.g. in the ceramic industry, the pigment industry or for metallurgical applications, the removal of sulphate is essential. For the dehydration of the iron hydroxisulphate and the sulphate removal, microwave heating technology is a beneficial method. In contrast to conventional thermal heating processes the supply of energy in microwave application takes place directly within the material through the dissipation of electromagnetic energy, i.e. no heating medium is needed. It is a volumetric heating process regardless of the surface of the material. The rapid and targeted energy supply and the good controllability of microwave heating systems are advantages which have led to a wide variety of applications in industrial processes. Among the diverse use for heating of temperature-sensitive, chemical and pharmaceutical products as well as foodstuffs the number of applications also in mineral and solid processing increases. At the Department for Mechanical Process Engineering and Solids Processing of the Technical University Berlin the use of microwave technology for the treatment of iron hydroxisulphates has been investigated systematically within the framework of a cooperative research project. The paper at hand shows results from material conversion tests subject to a variation of the relevant process parameters. The reaction products are characterized and the process is compared with the conventional heating in a rotary kiln.

"Some sulphide mineral mixtures when exposed to air and a warm and humid environment can exhibit a self-generating temperature rise, referred to as self-heating or spontaneous heating. The observed self-heating derives from the oxidation reactions of the active sulphides. In previous publications by the authors, it was proposed that the self-heating of sulphides proceed in three distinct stages; namely, Stage A, Stage B and Stage C. In Stage A (<100OC) the sulphides, in the presence of moisture are oxidized, generating heat through a series of sequential reactions and forming elemental sulphur as one of the products. In Stage B (>100OC) the elemental sulphur produced in Stage A is further oxidized to generate additional heat and SO2. Stage C (>~380OC), sometimes referred to as thermal runaway or roasting, is not addressed in this paper. This communication focuses on the type and role of elemental sulphur found in Stages A and B, and the sequence of reactions that is occurring in Stage A. The sequence is divided into two phases, the first based on galvanic interaction between the sulphide minerals that generates an acidic environment but little heat, and the second involving the production of H2S which rapidly oxidizes to produce heat and elemental sulphur. To date, data suggest that the primary oxidation product formed in Stage A is the stable orthorhombic a-S8 form of elemental sulphur. Above 96OC the a-S8 transforms to a monoclinic ß-S8 structure which is less stable and will readily oxidize to generate heat and SO2. Above 159OC a proportion of the ß-S8 sulphur will transition to a polymeric Sµ form of sulphur which can readily volatilize. INTRODUCTION Some particulate and granular materials, when exposed to appropriate atmospheric and physical conditions, can exhibit a self-induced temperature rise resulting from accumulated heat due to internal exothermic oxidation reactions. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as self-heating or spontaneous heating. Under favorable physical and environmental conditions, these reactions can elevate the temperature of a given material from ambient to the point of auto-ignition. Self-heating behaviour should not be equated to pyrophoric behaviour which describes a group of materials (e.g. certain finely powdered metals) that will ignite spontaneously in air below 55OC. There are numerous materials such as coals, hay, forestry wood products, food products to name a few that can exhibit self-heating behaviour. This publication continues the focus of the authors on the self-heating of sulphide mineral mixtures. Many of the metals of commercial use found in nature are in the form of these sulphides which must be mined, crushed, ground and concentrated prior to smelting or hydrometallurgical processing in order to produce primary metal. The issues of sulphide self-heating therefore pertain to the mining and processing of metals."

Aragonite was synthesized in addition of Mg2+ ion and SrCO3 seed by carbonation process, and the best condition and mechanism of the synthesis was studied by analysis of continuous pH change, ICP, XRD, and SEM. As MgCl2•6H2O addition increased, aragonite phase increased at condition of CO2 flow rate of 100 mL/min and stirring rate of 250 rpm. It was the dissolution of Mg(OH)2 that determined overall reaction time. As SrCO3 seed addition increased at 0.2 mole MgCl2•6H2O, the amount of aragonite increased and the aspect ratio was from 5 to 9. And it was thought that Mg2+ ion prohibited calcitetransformation of aragonite formed by SrCO3.

"Gas dispersion properties of sodium salts of 6, 12 and 18-carbon fatty acids (hexanoic, lauric and oleic acid) were investigated as a function of pH. A strong effect of pH was observed on gas dispersion properties of fatty acids. At high pH for 12 and 18 carbon fatty acids, at which these surfactants formed a true solution, the gas dispersion properties were similar to those of MIBC. In the case of sodium hexanoate, which has a much higher solubility than the longer chain fatty acids and therefore does not form precipitates, the gas dispersion properties of this surfactant were strongly enhanced in the acidic pH range, where hexanoic acid was fully associated. This result is an indication that undissociated hexanoic acid is much more surface-active than anionic hexanoate. Only a small effect of the surfactant chain length on gas dispersion properties of the tested reagents was observed. The measured critical coalescence concentration (CCC95) values increase slightly by decreasing chain length and range from 5.8 x 10-5 mol/L (17.7 mg/L) for sodium oleate to 7.2 x 10-5 mol/L (16 mg/L) for sodium laurate at pH 10 and 1.9 x 10-4 mol/L (26 mg/L) for sodium hexanoate at pH 3.7. These are compared to CCC95 of MIBC, which is measured to be 8 x 10-5 mol/L (8 mg/L). The soluble molecular species were recognized as the most effective species in preventing bubble coalescence."

"South Africa is the world?s second largest producer of titanium bearing minerals, but apart from producing titanium mineral concentrate to form TiO2 slag, little further value is added in South Africa to mined minerals. Various studies were undertaken by both government and the private sector in an un-coordinated manner until 2007 when the South African Department of Science and Technology (DST) planned and adopted a national strategy to establish a local titanium metal industry through the research and development of key technologies that would provide a competitive advantage to such a local industry. The strategy entailed a two-pronged approach in the development of this capability, viz. simultaneous investments in the development of high-level human capital and technology in the fields of titanium metal powder production and downstream titanium metal powder processing technologies. To date significant progress has been made to establish research and/or pilot scale facilities in the following technical areas: TiCl4 production technology, titanium powder production technology, high energy milling of titanium powder, metal injection moulding facilities, rapid production of large components using laser additive manufacturing technology, investment casting of titanium, resource efficient machining of titanium and friction stir welding of titanium. Supporting technologies are also at an advanced stage through investments in titanium powder spheroidization and direct rolling of titanium powder. The intent with investment in some of these areas is not to develop new technology per se, but rather to establish local capability that will position South Africa to collaborate with other organisations in the world so that technologies can be acquired and transferred when needed in the future."

Taknar polymetal (Cu-Zn-Au-Ag-Pb) deposit and concentration flotation plant are located in the northeast of Iran. The flotation feed contains Chalcopyrite, sphalerite and pyrite with 4, 4 and 8 percent respectively. Cu and Zn contents are 1.26 and 3.5 present. Pyrite decreases the quality of base metal concentrates and increases the amount of sulfur compounds produced in the base metal extraction processes. Therefore, depression of pyrite is essential in the concentration of base metal sulfides by flotation. For flotation tests, 4 mixed collector systems, MIBC (20g/t), lime and tow depression systems (sodium cyanide (60g/t)-zinc sulphate and dextrin (300g/t)-zinc sulphate) were used as collector, frother, pH regulator and pyrite-sphalerite depressants in the chalcopyrite flotation stage, respectively, and SIPX, MIBC, lime and copper sulphate (as activator) were used in sphalerite flotation from first stage tailings. The results have shown that, sodium cyanide is a suitable depressant for pyrite and sphalerite in the first stage of flotation. Compared to dextrin as depressant, chalcopyrite recovery was decreased approximately 1.83%. In addition, when sodium cyanide was used as pyrite depressant, copper sulphate consumption raised approximately 90 g/t for activation of sphalerite. From Environment and HSE points of view, dextrin is natural, biodegradable, and non-toxic while cyanide is very high toxic. As ore grades decline, ore deposits get harder and mineralogical complexity increases, metallurgical skills are more important than ever to ensure that today?s mining operations are operating efficiently and profitably. Yet specialist undergraduate degree programs have all but disappeared and metallurgical skills training for graduate engineers in the workspace if often haphazard. In response to this situation, specialists at the JK Centre in Queensland, Australia, have put together a professional development program designed to fast-track skills development for early career metallurgical professionals. The program, called ?MetSkill ® ?, is offered as a group training package for young metallurgists in the workplace. It is centred on a meaningful technical investigation negotiated between the JK Centre delivery team and the client company. As well as learning about project management and data collection and analysis, the participants study specialist topics such as comminution, flotation and mineralogy under the tutelage of senior research and consulting professionals. The technical investigation provides an opportunity for immediate practice of these new skills and JK Centre specialists are on hand to provide feedback and support throughout the program. The participants are employed across different operations in Australia and the Asia-Pacific, and although they occasionally come together for group training activities they are often separated by considerable distance. Specialist educational professionals from The University of Queensland have provided an innovative web platform to support collaboration and communication between all participants. This paper will describe the MetSkill ® program in detail, as well as providing a report on its initial roll-out to 2 groups of Australian graduate metallurgists in 2012

"Innovation in the minerals industry has been lagging behind comparable industries like oil and gas. An incremental innovation culture that tolerates long lead times between invention and adoption has been exacerbated by a research grant structure that inhibits radical idea generation. Entrepreneurs who can make the link between ore source, technology and finance will cause a shift in innovation culture and open up substantial opportunities in the minerals industry of the future. By extrapolating existing trends in technology within and outside mineral processing, a crystal ball vision of future innovation is shaped with the aim to lower energy and water demand, reduce CO2 emissions, decrease operating and capital costs, reduce environmental impact, and secure a social licence to operate. Advances in nanotechnology, advanced materials and biotechnology will impact mineral processing, but the initiative for technology transfer must come from mineral processors. Laminates of graphene oxide can offer efficient filtration and separation media, while microfluidic devices will be used for desalination, solvent extraction and analysis. Substantial progress is expected on benign lixiviants and separation agents, such as nanoscale supramolecular hosts that can serve as high-capacity, selective and recyclable ligands and sorbents, and solid aminobiphosphonate-based adsorbents. Radical ideas for the recovery of precious metals from non-assayable ores and the generation of energy above unity will be adopted in selected minerals projects. In-situ mining in which microbes generate lixiviants at mineral surfaces will simplify processing circuits. Specific ores will be subjected to microwave processing and electropulse liberation to enhance recovery. Ultrafine grinding using devices of low energy consumption will be done mainly dry, followed by dry separation. New flotation cells will remove efficiently either coarse particles or ultra-fine particles, with mineral surfaces being modified not just by new reagents but also by selective microbes. Innovation in mineral processing indeed has a bright future."

Coal, as energy resource, possesses numerous characteristics and properties which all have an influence on its gasification behaviour. The two properties considered as critically important when evaluating a coal source for gasification is its mineral content and slagging behaviour. Research has indicated that slagging formation can be inhibited or even prevented by the addition of a fluxing agent. It is thus of great importance to understand the mineral interaction during gasification in order to select a suitable fluxing agent for the prevention of slagging and clinker formation in the gasifier. The aim of the present project is to evaluate the effect of iron as a fluxing agent and study the transformation of the mineral and added iron during gasification. A pre-determined amount of pure elemental iron (between 2wt% and 20wt%) was added to a base case coal sample in order to study the effect of the addition of iron to the coal. The transformation of the iron in conjunction with the possible iron containing minerals present in the coal was studied by means of Mössbauer analyses. Typical characterisation techniques included proximate analyses, ultimate analyses and ash composition analyses. The ash fusion temperature analyses (AFT) were used to study and predict the slagging behaviour of the iron-spiked coal samples. Even though AFT analyses only provide an average flow property, it gives a good indication of the changes that the iron addition induces on coal properties. FactSage modelling was carried out in conjunction with the Mössbauer and AFT analyses. From the proximate, ultimate and ash composition analyses it was clear that the coal used con-formed to the average characteristics measured over an extended time period. From the AFT values it was seen that an increase in the flow temperature occurred with the addition of pure elemental iron to the coal, which can be of importance for operational purposes as to raise the gasifier temperature and not to have slagging problems to occur in the gasifier. The Mössbauer data show that he-matite is the main Fe-component that forms from the pyrite originally present and from the added iron to the coal, consistent with FactSage modelling, which shows that the partial oxygen pressure determines which mineral species will form. This study opens up new possibilities when considering operational problems experienced in in-dustrial gasifiers. Successful completion of this study and a study to look at reducing conditions in the gasifier will also add to the knowledge that already exists regarding fluxing agents.

There are rich resources of natural graphite in China. It would be a good opportunity to upgrade national graphite industry if natural graphite with modification is used in lithium ion battery. Micro-crystalline graphite in high purity was coated with a carbon film on the surface. The initial cycle efficiency was improved to be 89.9% and cycle stability was remarkably improved. The experiments proved that microcrystalline graphite with carbon coating have excellent electrochemical performances at low cost as anode materials for lithium-ion battery. In addition, H2SO4-GIC technique was used to prepare the natural flake graphite powders with mild-exfoliation. Sub-micro and nano pores were found in the graphite samples. In correspondence the reversible capacity, rate capacity and cycle life were improved, which would meet the demand of high-power lithium-ion battery. Natural graphite is the most promising anode material for large-scale lithium-ion batteries. The demand of modified graphite grows up greatly in the market. Microcrystalline graphite with surface coating and flake graphite with mild-exfoliation are the promising commercial anode materials for the industry of lithium ion battery.

This paper will underpin the future development of intellectuals having greater understanding of patent law and legislation, IP rights, and innovation. To understand this idea, I present a case study of China?s progress in the last 31 years in the rare earth research, innovation, and simultaneously patents area. Rare earth elements (REE) are at the centre of high technology and are the next wave of world innovation. Much of modern society depends on rare earth elements through their use in computers, lasers, telecommunications, iPods, medical technology, military applications, and so on (Long et al, 2010). The rare earth research, a large research body is being provided by Chinese sources. China devoted three or four university centers to the study of rare earths (Lifton, 2009). These measures are all designed to keep China at the forefront of REE production, materials, technology, and innovation. As a result in the last fifteen years there has been a shift from a US-dominated REE industry patents to Chinese patents. The world must identify strategic areas of rare earth innovation and provide funding to firms and universities that conduct such research. Not only research and innovation is vital but filing patents and preserving IP rights for research and innovation is even more important. We (rest of the world) need a comprehensive strategy to guide the development of patent and IP rights for research and innovation. Reverse flotation process tests were conducted for marine sedimentary silicon-calcium phosphate ore in this research. The research findings showed that by adding antifoamer, a concentrate with P2O5 32.36%, SiO2 10.69%, MgO 0.67% was obtained, with recovery of P2O5 being 88.12%. Such is a satisfying result, when compared with the original mineralogical component of P2O5 26.64%, SiO2 11.51% and MgO 3.36%. When using antifoamer, the SiO2 grade of the concentrate increased 0.55%, the MgO grade decreased 0.64%, while P2O5 recovery increased 2.69% compared by adding no antifoamer. Adding antifoamer is favorable to increase the grade and recovery of P2O5. Therefore, antifoamer is necessary. Tests of synergistic reaction of antifomer indicate that the appropriate consumption of the antifoamer is 275g/t CY and 1Kg/t TWF. Generally speaking, wastewater coming from the metallurgical process for recovering precious metal contains precious metals such as gold (Au), platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), Silver (Ag), etc., which concentration is about 10 mg/L. In addition, there are other metals such as copper (Cu), iron (Fe), which concentration varies from several mg/L to more than 10,000 mg/L. It should be noted that the concentration of metals in wastewater is relatively high, considering the fact that these metals of similar concentration can be found in ores. However, most of these valuable metals are not treated, due to the high processing cost and technical problems. Within this frame, the authors put forward a new process that includes neutralization/reduction, precipitation and fusion. The idea is to recover and recycle Au, Ag, and Pd metals as well as protecting the environment by saving the resources. It was found that this new process was able to recover more than 90% of Au, Ag and Pd.

"Lithium is the lightest of the metals, with high reactivity and great electrochemical potential. It has a low thermal expansion coefficient and high caloric value, and it forms very light and resistant aluminium alloys. These properties make lithium an attractive element for use in battery manufacture and glass and ceramics production, in addition to its applications in the aeronautic industry. Today, two sources of raw material are economically viable for lithium production: pegmatite rocks and brine. The world production, in 2012, was approximately 150,000 tons of LCE (lithium carbonate equivalent), almost triple the production in 2000. The forecasted consumption for the current year, 2013, was approximately 162,000 tons of LCE, and for 2020, it could be as much as 280,000 tons of LCE, stimulated essentially by the growth of world production of electric (EV), hybrid (HEV) and hybrid plug-in vehicles (PHEV), the batteries of which are based on Li-ions. With the growth of world demand and increasing prices, lithium minerals such as spodumene, petalite and amblygonite, once considered uneconomical for the production of lithium carbonate, are regaining their economic value. New projects to produce lithium compounds based on mineral sources are being developed in many countries, aiming to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate (99.95% Li2CO3). Although Brazil has large lithium pegmatite reserves, the domestic production of lithium carbonate and hydroxide is very low, at approximately 600 tons of LCE, which represents 0.4% of the world production. The application of these products is mostly in the grease and ceramic industries. The national lithium market is under government protection due to its potential use for nuclear purposes. Thus, the industrialization activities and import and export of ores and lithium minerals, as well as organic and inorganic products, such as metallic lithium and lithium alloys, are controlled by the National Commission for Nuclear Energy (Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear - CNEN). The objectives of this work to quantify the real lithium demand in the Brazilian market, considering that a large amount of lithium is indirectly imported in the form of the Li-ion batteries used in equipment such as mobile phones, cameras, tablets, notebooks and e-bikes, and to compare this demand with the current national production of LCE. Finally, some technological alternatives will be discussed, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the lithium industry in Brazil."

"Saponite is a valuable marketable product widely used foundry, metallurgy and construction, in the chemical, food and consumer goods industries, in medicine, and in agriculture.The feasibility of producing of high-quality construction materials with enhanced physical-chemical and decorative characteristics from saponite-containing products has been given a scientific basis and experimentally validated. The compressive strength of the samples in the sintering temperature range of 800-1000 ?? varied between 35 and 80.9 MPa; the bending strength 8 and 26.7 MPa, which is superior to the high-grade ceramic bricks of the M-300 brand. It has been established that the saponite-containing product obtained using the electrochemical separation of process water has a high sorption capacitance relatively the heavy-metal ions such as nickel and copper (40.7 and 99.8 mg/g, respectively). As a result of sintering at 750 ?? the sorption capacity of the sorbent for the nickel and copper ions increased to 194.2 and 212.8. Using the XRD and SEM with energy-dispersive spectroscopy studies, we diagnosed the metal-containing phases and validated the metal sorption mechanism.This study opens up the possibility of practical realization of the saponite-containing product as high-quality building materials and heavy-metal sorbents while addressing the issue of process water treatment. The anticipated volume of diamond-bearing ore and dump rock to be removed before reaching the open-pit mining limit is 300 mln t (Karpenko, 2009; Bezborodov, etal. 2003). Rock in the deposit is almost completely displaced by clay minerals, predominantly saponite, amounting to 90% in the vent facies (Karpenko, 2009)."

Copper metal has important role in the basic industrials, as if it did not exist, modern human life would not develop! Copper leaching, as the first step, is important step in copper production processes. In this research, efficient factors on the leaching have been investigated. For this reason, four efficient factors on leaching namely pH, liquid to solid ratio (L/S), temperature and time, as independent variables, were optimized using response surface (RSM) with D-optimal. A quadratic equation was used to create response and contours. According to the results from analysis of variance (ANOVA), the value of determination coefficient (R2=96.77%) indicates that the model was good fit. Optimum experiment condition also was found: pH of 1, L/S of 8.24, temperature of 26.06 ? and time of 43.64 min. At this condition, the maximum recovery of copper was equaled to 92/38 in which good desirability achieved.
