"World-class manufacturing" (WCM) techniques can be applied in milling operations to substantially improve productivity and reduce costs. Through the use of "just-in-time" and "total quality control" practices, WCM methods establish an environment for continual and rapid improvement in all aspects of production operations, with particular gains in product quality, costs, flexibility, employee involvement, and responsiveness to customers. This paper examines WCM techniques that can be utilized specifically in the mill, and their influence on plant configuration, organization, and scheduling practices; equipment selection and maintenance methods; training; the role of supporting staff; and methods of data collection and analysis.

In the process of mining coal today, our greatest asset, the coal miner, is faced with the indirect and direct consequence of underground mining operations. The indirect considerations may be the rank of the coal seam, the amount of overburden, geological factors, seam permeability and cracks. The introduction of newer, bigger and faster coal-producing face equipment having the capability to cut or rip through the bedding planes, cleats and micropores of the coal seam brings about rapid liberation of gas accompanied by greater concentrations of coal dust, has exerted a direct consideration and greater demand upon mine ventilation systems and dust control. The purpose of mine ventilation is to provide sufficient pure air to the miners working underground and to dilute, render harmless, and carry away all the dangerous and noxious gases. The mining operations which create coal dust are cod cutting, drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, dumping and movement of face equipment. The created fine dust causes the propagation of explosions. When quantities of coal dust with no methane present are raked in a sufficiently dense cloud in the presence of a source of ignition, an explosion is possible.

Most miners dream of finding a gold mine sometime during their mining careers, but not very often do such dreams come true. On the tenth day of September, 1962, our dream of finding gold came true when the results of the third drill hole were received. This was undoubtedly one of the most exciting days of our lives. Little did we realize then that this was the beginning of a major discovery destined to became one of the largest gold mines in the country. Discovering and mining gold is not entirely new, however, to Eureka. County a old Lynn Mining District in northeastern Nevada. Since 1900 there has been sporadic activity, mostly consisting of small lode mines and placers. These have produced totally about $300,000; and existence of our orebody would probably have remained unknown had it not been for the United States Geological Survey. The USGS extensively mapped the Roberts Mountain Thrust and published a paper indicating that mineral occurred along this fault and in some places was gold bearing. Utilizing this information, our Newmont Exploration geologists located an area in which: drills were brought in to test their theories. By keeping flexible in our thinning and working, we were able to bring a raw prospect to a producing mine with ore reserves of eleven million tons in a short three-year period.

"Philosophy" addresses the definition and assigning of importance to the marketing of by-products. Two examples, one in metals and the other in industrial minerals, explore prime product to by-product relationships. Relative revenues from all products illustrate the importance of by-products to economic feasibility. "Mechanics" takes a broad view of the types of marketing organizations that are applicable to individual circumstances in the marketplace. In-house marketing as well as agents, merchants and trading companies are outlined and discussed. However, in simply trying to clearly define the term "by-product" some interesting relationships between products arise and the line of demarcation between "product" and "by-product" often becomes obscure. The search for that distinction represents the philosophy portion of the title. A couple of definitions of philosophy can even help to set the tone for what follows. According to Webster, philosophy is : 1 Pursuit of wisdom. 2. A search for a general understanding of values and reality.

In order to plan the most efficient mine installation, a company should take advantage of all available information and tools. One of the first factors of a coal reserve that needs to be determined as accurately as possible is the quality of coal the mine will have access to during the life of the installation. With the aid of many types of well logs and computor analysis, we are investigating several methods of log correlation to determine such data as moisture, ash, sulphur, and BTU on an in place basis. It may be possible to determine this data more accurately in this manner than by using diamond drill cores for analysis and thus allow for a more profitable mine installation. The production of an underground mine is based on many factors, two of these being roof control and line water, where present either in the roof or coal seam. Using many of the same logs obtained from reserve and active mine areas, we have attempted to determine roof and floor characteristics such as strength, lithology, and moisture properties. Using data obtained from this program, we will make comments on possible length of bolt to be used, possible mining width, and pillar size as they would pertain to these reserves and active mine areas.

Mining tailings are slurry byproducts of mineral recovery. They generate serious environmental risks due to their toxicity when exposed to water and oxygen. Studies focus on eco-friendly alternatives for mitigating these environmental impacts. Processing these tailings enables a sustainable mineral production model through circular economy practices. This study evaluates using gold mining tailings to recover gold and produce bricks. Flotation tests obtained a concentrate with 86.66% gold recovery, containing sulfides (pyrite, arsenopyrite) and a tailing with silicates and oxides suitable for brick manufacturing and ornamental pieces. This approach promotes eco-friendly solutions and a greener approach to mining operations.

This late 1979 Bureau of Mines report presents current stocks and monthly consumption rates for Guyanese refractory bauxite (GRB), with emphasis on the impact of the GRB shortage on the refractory and downstream industries, general background material, and an evaluation of the situation resulting from the strike of Guyanese bauxite workers during the summer of 1979. A study by the Bureau indicated that industry stocks contained little more than a month's supply of GRB--30,000 calcined short tons (CST), at present consumption rates of 25,000 CST per month. The report was requested by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FW) in response to refractory industry requests that the Government release GRB from the National Stockpile to minimize forecasted industry problems. The report traces the historical innovations in the high-alumina and/or bauxite-type refractory products industry, eventually leading up to fabrication of modern, high-quality firebrick and monolithic refractories.

Resource figures for bentonite clays are generally based on stratigraphic, sedimentary geologic data and drilling and sampling. Estimates of bentonite resources and/or reserves commonly found in the literature report on bentonite occurrences in specific localities or areas but none on any documented comprehensive estimates of bentonite resources. From 1974 thru 1977 the Bureau of Land Management conducted extensive studies of the resources of commercial grade bentonite in the three state region. These investigations consisted of: 1. Stratigraphic and geologic sampling with supplemental drilling data, followed by geostatistical analysis. 2. Data compiled from a systematic search of county and state records on mining locations, leases and acreage filed for bentonite. Estimates of resources of commercial grade bentonite using industry parameters were calculated from these data sources. It is concluded that there exists from 1.5 to 2.4 billion tons of in-place bentonite in Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota. Assuming a 5 percent annual growth rate for the industry, this would indicate a life of 62 to 73 years.

Heap leaching provides a method of economically recovering gold from low grade ores with low capital and reasonable operating costs. As with conventional methods, alkaline cyanide solutions are used for leaching. Since gold (and silver) is (are) present as the native metals, oxygen (as air) is required to oxidatively complex the metals with the cyanide. Oxygen depletion can readily occur adversely affecting recovery. The addition of low levels of hydrogen peroxide during leaching can lead to significant increases in both rate of recovery and total recovery. This process allows for the use of shorter pad times or deeper heaps and increases the gold (silver) concentration to the recovery circuit and thus can reduce cyanide losses by virtue of permitting the use of less total leach solution per ton of ore processed.

The advent of Nuclear Energy has caused a phenomenal growth in the uranium mining industry. To keep abreast of this surge the mining industry has located many ore bodies, determined the best types of mining adaptable to this particular type of ore and developed a highly specialized type of operation. But, has the mining industry gone far enough in the planning? Has ?built-in? safety been included in the efficient methods of operation? Preplanning safety in the mining industry, as in all industries, takes engineering and ingenuity combined with the experience and cooperation of all concerned. A system of mining can be planned on a map and it will look good. However, when the actual mining takes place, conditions may be such that deviations from the original plans may be required because of excessive water faults or other conditions encountered. With safety we may also be required to change, to conform to the characteristics of a particular operation. People in the mining industry are well aware that loose back has killed miners each year. This condition occurred in practically all types of mines. The condition is not new to us. It is also known that explosives, haulage, machinery and conditions common to all types of mining have taken a heavy toll of human life in mining. In addition to these hazards in the uranium mines, the hazard of radon is also present, Radon is a radioactive gas liberated from ores containing radium. This gas is released into the active workings by the blasting or breaking up of the ore. Sometimes it is caused by radium contaminated water seepage from abandoned workings or from the ore body itself. Until the action of this gas on the human was known, many miners were affected. Un- less adequate precuations are taken to protect the people in these mines,, they may be exposed to this hazard, Health researchers made a study of this substance to determine how it would affect the health of the men, They also studied men who had worked in previous years, in mines known to have contained radioactive materials. All of this research contributed to the present knowledge of radon and its daughter products. It is not flammable nor explosive, but, if allowed to enter the body through the respiratory organs it can cause serious damage. Mines have been operated in the past and are still being operated, which were known to contain explosive and noxious gases, indicating that this problem can be controlled. Several states have instituted laws that make it mandatory to provide adequate ventilation and use of monitoring devices to limit radon and its daughter products to a maximum of 300 micro-microcuries per liter of air. This is considered a safe limit for sustained periods of human exposure. While the findings of research do not prove conclusively that the inhalation of excessive radon or its daugher products cause lung cancer, indications point to this as a possibility, particularly radium A and radium C1 of the daughter products. The threshold limits set by law in most uranium producing states are believed to be safe. In a few years, when tests and data now in the process of collection by interested state officials and laboratories is complete, these limits may be found to be ready for revision. Studies such as these take time. At present, the limits that are used are based upon estimates. The permissible limits of exposure to radon and daughter products include a large safety factor. It is considered that a good supply of fresh air delivered to the working places, adequate dust control, the sealing of unused or abandoned workings, the removal of mine water which is generally contaminated and a safe waiting period after blasting, will hold to a minimum the dangers from this source. There are, of course, problems accompanying each of these procedures. For example, the ventilating of untimbered raises and bringing fresh, uncontaminated air to the working places may be a problem. However, a good mining man can solve these problems as they apply in each particular operation. From the information available at the present time, the daughter products containing polonium and emitting alpha radiation, may be a health hazard. Fortunately, the half life of most of the daughter products is short, however, radium D has a half life of 22 years and presents a problem of contamination in the storage of old tailings. So we can see that failure to comply with the accepted good mining practices may have harmful effects on the health of miners. It is gratifying to note the interest in this potential hazard by the officials in the uranium ore producing states, who are making extensive studies and keeping records of the men who work in this type of mining. This all provide information necessary for preplanning safety. By contrast, little has been accomplished to control the injuries and deaths from some other factors connected with most underground mining operations. "Due to the time-consuming nature of froth testing in a laboratory environment, practical limitations require the development of a method of applying a single set of performance test data (Visintainer and Whitlock, 2012) obtained for a single froth pump at a given speed to a range of froth pump speeds and sizes, % air content and liquid viscosities. Head, efficiency and flow all vary as functions of both liquid viscosity and air content. As such, it is necessary to develop a technique that can be used to interpolate from existing test data in order to predict froth performance for pumps of various sizes running at variable speeds. Details of the technique developed in order to achieve this goal, as well as the insights gained from analysis of the resulting regressions, are discussed. Additionally, comparisons are made between the performance predictions of this test-derived method and those of the Hydraulic Institute standard for the effects of liquid viscosity on centrifugal pump performance (ANSI, 2010).IntroductionPump performance data (Visintainer and Whitlock, 2012) has been collected for a froth pump using an experimental loop outfitted with an array of pressure transducers, mass flow meters, an inverted U-loop, magnetic flow meter and an assortment of other instrumentation. Experiments were performed on pure water, water and air, pure corn syrup, and corn syrup and air. Data was obtained for % air contents of 0-30% and viscosities of 1- 15,000 cSt at eight specific valve positions (eight different flows as a percentage of best efficiency flow points) and the viscosity was changed by allowing the system temperature to increase during testing. The test pump is a 710-mm diameter impeller, GIW HVF, open shrouded, vented design that has its discharge axis oriented at 45° upward from the horizontal. "The adsorption of collector on bornite has been studied in situ in aqueous solutions by applying an atomic force microscopy (AFM). The AFM images show that xanthate, such as potassium ethyl xanthate (KEX) and potassium amyl xanthate (PAX), adsorbs strongly on bornite mainly in the form of insoluble metal xanthate, which binds strongly with the mineral surface without being removed by flushing with ethanol alcohol. This adsorption mechanism is very similar to the one obtained with chalcocite/xanthate system. However, the result also clearly shows that the adsorption of xanthate on bornite is totally different from its adsorption on chalcopyrite, during which oily dixanthogen is the main adsorption product on chalcopyrite surface. The obtained AFM images also showed that the adsorption increases with increasing the collector’s concentration. When Cytec Aerofloat 238, a dialkyl dithiophosphate collector, is used, it adsorb on bornite mainly in the form of an oily substance, which can be rinsed off mineral surface by flushing with ethanol alcohol. AFM images also show that the adsorption of Cytec Aerofloat 238 increases with increasing the adsorption time. INTRODUCTION The adsorption of collector on mineral surface is vital for a successful flotation process to achieve a satisfying recovery. Historically, many works have been carried out to clarify the adsorption mechanism of collectors on sulfides. (Gaudin and Schuhmann, 1936, Poling and Leja, 1963; Allison et al., 1972, Fuerstenau, 1982; Leja, 1982; Woods, 1984) Compared to other copper minerals such as chalcopyrite and chalcocite, much less work has been done to study the adsorption collector on bornite. Allison et al. (1972) studied the reaction products of various sulfide minerals with xanthate solutions and reported that the measured rest potential of bornite in 6.25×10-4 M KEX solution at pH 7 was +60 mV and the reaction product of PAX on bornite was cuprous alkyl xanthate. Mielczarski and Suoninen (1984a, 1984b) applied the XPS and studied the adsorption of potassium ethyl xanthate on cuprous sulfide. It was reported that there was a relatively rapid formation of a well-oriented monolayer of xanthate ions followed by a slow growth of disordered cuprous xanthate molecules on top of this layer. Buckley et al. (1984) investigated the surface oxidation of bornite by linear potential sweep voltammetry and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and proposed the adsorption products on bornite depended on the solution potential. Zachwieja et al. (1987) studied the electrochemical flotation of the bornite-ethylxanthate system and reported that KEX reacted with bornite through an electrochemical oxidation reaction forming cuprous xanthate between -0.4 and -0.2v (SCE). Hangone et al. (2005) studied the flotation of a bornite-rich copper sulfide ore using thio collectors and their mixtures and reported that the highest copper recoveries were obtained with the diethyl dithiophosphate (di C2-DTP)."

"Usage of Supercritical CO2 in place of high pressure freshwater has proven to be a potential breakthrough in the technique of fracturing. Tapping of carbon footprints from feasible sources like industries can be used to manufacture Supercritical CO2 required for fracking. Supercritical CO2, being less viscous than water, creates complex and coherent micro-fractures which can connect many more natural fractures greatly, increasing maximally the fractures’ conductivity leading to an increment in production. The better clean-up property of Supercritical CO2 provides auxiliary benefits of immediate evaluation of fracture zones, usage of an optimized quantity of mesh proppant and elimination of the need of swabbing. Also, Coal has a stronger affinity for CO2 than for CH4. When CO2 is present, CH4 on coal is replaced by CO2. This also ensures rigorous recovery of gas from the coal beds. Use of Supercritical CO2 will obliterate many problems as the CO2 used for fracturing is either sequestered beneath the crust or is recovered at the surface and reused. Therefore, injecting CO2 into coalbeds achieves not only enhanced CBM recovery, but also greenhouse sequestration underground. INTRODUCTION Coalbed Methane At various times in the geologic past, earth had dense forests in low-lying wetland areas. Due to natural processes such as flooding, these forests were buried underneath the soil. As more and more soil deposited over them, these dead plant remains were compressed. As the process continued the plant matter was protected from biodegradation and oxidation, usually by mud or acidic water. Under high pressure and high temperature, dead vegetation was slowly converted to coal. The omnibus process of formation of coal, thus, comprises of conversion of dead plant matter into peat, followed by its conversion to lignite, then sub-bituminous coal, after that bituminous coal, and lastly anthracite. This process of enrichment of coal as it is progressively forced deeper into an ambience with higher temperature and pressure involves biological and geological processes that take place over a long period and is called coalification. During coalification, large amounts of methane-rich gas are generated and stored within the coal on internal surfaces; hence comes coalbed methane. Coalbed methane (CBM), a gas formed as part of the geological processes that are responsible for the generation of coal, is adsorbed into the solid matrix of the coal during its formation process. Coalbed methane is distinct from a typical sandstone or other conventional gas reservoirs, as the methane is adsorbed and not absorbed. The methane is in a near-liquid state, lining the inside of pores within the coal. The open fractures in the coal that result from the liberation of volatile materials (and subsequent contraction due to the liberation) from the coal due to the high temperature and pressure conditions encountered, called cleats, may also contain free gas or can be saturated with water."

Total world energy consumption is projected to continue its strong growth of recent years. Because coal is the most abundant fossil fuel, it will likely remain an important energy source, particularly for power generation, into at least the early years of the next millennium. Clean coal technologies are available today that can economically reduce air pollution, primarily SO2 NOx and particulates, and for the higher efficiency technologies, CO2, from power generation. U.S. Department of Energy analyses show that the adoption of clean coal technologies could decrease carbon emissions worldwide while creating a strong export market with attendant creation of jobs in the U.S.

"Confidence in the design and stability of an undercut cemented rockfill (CRF) span requires a thorough understanding of its emplaced material properties. The unconfined compressive strength (UCS) of cast 6×12-inch QA/QC cylinders is typically used as an index test to track the performance of a backfill plant. However, these strengths need to be adjusted for oversize aggregate removal and sample size effects if used to estimate the emplaced UCS. UCS testing of 6×12, 12×24, and 18×36-inch cast CRF cylinders was used to quantify the relationship between readily available 6×12-inch QA/QC strength data and the emplaced UCS. Test results indicate that the UCS of 18×36-inch cylinders is roughly 40% of the 6×12-inch UCS for similarly compacted samples. Mine QA/QC data indicate that the UCS of CRF is highly dependent on the degree of compaction as measured by bulk density. Based on these results, knowledge of the emplaced CRF density compared to 6×12-inch QA/QC density is also necessary to estimate the emplaced UCS. The scale effect reported in this study is more pronounced, compared to current understanding of backfill properties discussed in the literature, and underscores the need for further site-specific testing. INTRODUCTION The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Spokane Mining Research Division (SRMD), in cooperation with Barrick Gold Corporation, is conducting research with the goal of determining a relationship between 6-inch QA/QC cylinder strengths and the in-place strength of cemented rockfill (CRF). CRF cylinders with dimensions (diameter × length) of 6×12, 12×24, and 18×36 inches were cast onsite at the Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture (TRJV) and Cortez Hills Underground (CHUG) mines using CRF mixed at the mines’ respective batch plants. UCS tests were performed after 28 days of curing to estimate the size correction factor for each mine’s CRF. This paper presents an overview of the mix designs, sample collections, testing methods, test results, and an estimate of the UCS size correction factor for CRF at these mines. BACKGROUND Underhand cut and fill mining methods utilizing cemented backfill are common in underground metal mines in the United States. These methods are advantageous for controlling weak or highly stressed rock mass conditions by creating an engineered material that can be placed in openings, forming a beam that provides a safe, stable back for the next undercut. Increased use of underhand methods in the last 30 years has greatly improved safety in many cut-and-fill mines. However, with the continual push for more efficient and cost effective mining, there is a need to thoroughly understand the geotechnical properties of cemented backfill to assist in designing safe, stable openings while optimizing costs and production schedules."

The U.S. Bureau of Mines (USBM) investigated the use of seismic refraction tomography (SRT) for identifying changes in pillar loading at the Foidel Creek coal mine near Steamboat Springs, CO. The inherent three-dimensional problem of directly imaging coal pillar conditions is reduced to a single plane by considering only the load transmitted from the pillar to the adjacent floor rock. Floor strata velocity tomograms (at two pillar locations) illustrate that loading conditions are non-uniform and non-unique. Also, time sequence monitoring, as the longwall face advanced, demonstrated that SRT can be used to image spatial changes in loading conditions. SRT offers the mining engineer a simple and flexible technique for evaluating pillar conditions, and thus, both present and alternative mine designs.

"Federal regulations require the installation of refuge alternatives (RAs) in underground coal mines. Mobile RAs have a limited ability to dissipate heat, and heat buildup can lead to a life-threatening condition as the RA internal air temperature and relative humidity increase. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Office of Mine Safety and Health Research performed heat testing on a 10-person tent-type training RA and contracted ThermoAnalytics, Inc. to develop a validated thermal simulation model (TSM) of the tested RA. The TSM was used to examine the effects of the constant mine strata temperature assumption, initial mine air temperature (MAT), initial mine strata surface temperature (MSST), initial mine strata temperature at depth (MSTD), and mine strata thermal behavior on RA internal air temperature using 117 W of sensible heat input per simulated miner. For the studied RA, when the mine strata temperature was treated as a constant, the final predicted RA internal air temperature was 12.8°F lower than it was when the mine strata thermal behavior was included in the model. A 10°F increase in the initial MSST resulted in a 7.1°F increase in the final RA internal air temperature, whereas a 10°F increase in the initial MSTD yielded a 2.5°F increase in the final RA internal air temperature. INTRODUCTION Since 2008, the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) has required the installation of refuge alternatives (RAs) in underground coal mines (1). MSHA requires that RAs provide an environment with breathable air for entrapped miners for a 96-hour period. Heat buildup inside an occupied RA is a serious concern. Without a means to dissipate the heat and humidity generated by the occupants and the carbon dioxide scrubbing system, the temperature and humidity inside RAs could lead to severe discomfort or heat stress depending on the mine ambient temperature before and during occupation of the RA. NIOSH recommended an apparent temperature limit of 95°F in its 2007 report to Congress (2). In 30 CFR 7.504, MSHA has specified a maximum apparent temperature of 95°F inside an occupied RA (3). The apparent temperature is calculated using both air temperature and relative humidity (4). Calculations could be used to determine if the air within an occupied RA will reach the apparent temperature limit. In these calculations, in order to simplify the problem, the mine temperature could be assumed to remain constant. With this assumption, the effects of the mine strata thermal mass and thermal conductivity on the heat buildup in an RA are ignored. OMSHR research has shown that the mine air and strata temperatures surrounding an RA increase when subjected to the heat of an occupied RA (5). Thus, calculations performed with the assumption that the mine temperature is constant would under-predict the resulting dry-bulb temperature and apparent temperature for a given RA occupancy. The mine air temperature has been used as the basis for RA temperature calculations. However, research has not been used to confirm that the mine air temperature is the appropriate basis."

The Bureau of Mines investigated rapid bubble-pulp separation to improve flotation kinetics. A shallow-depth froth separator was employed to quickly recover the mineral-laden bubbles from a mixture of ore, water, and air bubbles. The shallow depth minimized the rising distance required to recover even the smallest size bubbles (100 ~m). Therefore, the slurry remained in the unit only long enough to recover the bubbles before the pulp exited through the conical bottom. Joining this unit with a rapid bubble-particle attachment unit, a rapid flotation system was formed that floated silica from phosphate in one-fifth of the retention time for conventional mechanical cells. The hydrodynamics of the rapid flotation system along with fundamental parameters for scale-up are presented in this paper.

A composite usually consists of two parts, the matrix and the reinforcing material, or extender that is added to the matrix. Typical materials used as the matrix in composites are metals, polymers, and ceramics. The reinforcing material can be added for any number of reasons. For instance, if the matrix is expensive, an inexpensive filler may be added to the matrix to lower the cost of the product without sacrificing properties. An example of this is calcite (CaC03) which is added to systems such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), to lower the cost. Reinforcements may also serve as a means to enhance the properties of the matrix material. For example, carbon fibers are frequently added to plastics to increase their strength, and glass spheres may be added to plastics to improve flexural strength. Mg(OH)z is added to polymers to give the property of fire retardancy. The latter is the focus of this paper.

As mines progress to ever increasing depth, new challenges are encountered with serious concerns for rock excavations in highly stressed conditions. New procedures have been undertaken or are under way to remove workers from the workface, mitigating risk and exposure to hazardous conditions. Rockbolting crews are at particular risk as they are the first line of defense in the installation of the ground support systems. One such initiative for removal of workers from danger has been with remote bolting. Equipment manufacturers have had the ability to remotely inject resin pneumatically into boreholes for several years, but it has not been recognized as a very effective method due to a variety of complications. This makes the installation of dynamic support system components such as the D-Bolt® increasingly difficult. More recently, hollow-core bolts have become popular providing far more effective installation when installed with pumpable, two component urea-silicate injection resins. Normet has developed high energy dissipation self-drilling dynamic bolts (SDDB®) to meet these challenges. Following several inquiries as to the effectiveness of pumpable resins for use with dynamic support components, Normet Canada performed comprehensive testing of the bolt and resin system at CanmetMINING in Ottawa to dispel or substantiate any preconceived beliefs. Several dynamic and static tests in direct and indirect loading were carried out. Results include tests in shear and early strength UCS of the resin to measure the performance of the SDDB compared with the established D Bolt as an effective dynamic ground support component. Underground field observations, installation methodology and in-situ testing are investigated.
