The flow in a hydrocyclone classifier is highly turbulent complex nature of multi-phase structure, which has led designers to rely on empirical mathematical models for predicting the performance. A number of classifying cyclone models have been developed and successfully used in mineral comminution circuit simulators over the past four decades (Plitt, 1976 and Nageswararao, 1978). However, most of the mathematical models currently available to describe hydrocyclone classifier performance are based on single average mineral density component behavior. In industrial comminution circuits, the feed to the cyclone composed of a mixture of particles of varying degrees of liberation and sizes. The behavior of multi-component particles in a hydrocyclone is poorly understood and unaccounted for in most of the mathematical model equations available in the literature. There is evidence from a number of experimental data sets indicating the significant influence of the multi-component particles on measured cyclone performance. A concept for modeling the performance of hydrocyclones based on multi-component behavior is proposed in this paper. A set of semi-empirical model equations for cut-size, sharpness of separation are presented and the corresponding model parameters evaluated from the measured data are given.

As the second largest phosphate resource in the world, Chinese phosphate ores generally grades with low of P2O5. The presentation of beneficiation test on the low grade of phosphate rock in this paper may be used for a reference for development and utilization of the similar reserves. The ore is a marine sedimentary phosphate rock containing low grade of P2O5 and high content of MgO and R2O3; The banded structure shows its suitability for heavy medium separation. The laboratory heavy liquid testing results indicate that as specific gravity of the heavy liquid is 2.85 g/cm3, a rougher concentrate assaying 28.71% P2O5 could be obtained while the rougher tailings contain only 4.47% P2O5. When the combined process with heavy liquid separation followed by direct & re-verse flotation is employed to treat the feed containing 21.15% P2O5, 3.79% MgO, 1.86% Fe2O3, 3.66% Al2O3, 23.75% A.I, and specific gravity of heavy liquid is 2.84 g/cm3, the optimum mesh of grind is 67.5% minus 200 mesh, a phosphate concentrate contained 32.51% P2O5, 0.48% MgO, 0.81% Fe2O3, 1.69% Al2O3 can be produced at a yield of 55.24%. The concentrate P2O5 recovery is 85% with which quality comply with the Class A specifications for production of phosphate fertilizer.

"Density functional theory was employed to clarify the mechanisms of the activation of a quartz surface and its collection by the flotation method at the molecular level. The calculation results indicated that hydrogen bonds on the quartz surface (1 0 1) existed in pairs while in contact with water. The simulation was carried out to investigate the different effects of Ca2+ and Ca(OH)+ on a quartz surface with hydrogen bonds, and the results suggested that Ca(OH)+ most likely adsorbed onto and activated the quartz surface. Mulliken population analysis of the external oxygen atom of the quartz surface, calcium atom of Ca(OH)+, and the oxygen atom of oleate showed that there were electron transfer and the formation of a chemical bond between Ca1-O1 and Ca1-O3, which were indicative of strong interactions between the three atoms. In addition, the –OH of the Ca(OH)+ contributed to the activation, which suggested that the Ca(OH)+ group acted as a bridge between the surfaces of oleate and quartz.INTRODUCTIONFlotation is an effective separation method in mineral processing that takes advantage of the physicochemical differences between minerals and gangue, and the properties of the mineral surfaces play a key role in this process (Liu et al. 2016, Qin et al. 2017). In the reverse flotation process of iron ore, gangues are captured by cationic or anionic collectors and floated with air-bubbles as tailings, and the pre-depressed iron oxide minerals are left at the bottom as concentrates (Lima et al. 2013, Yianatos et al. 2015, Zhu et al. 2015). Quartz (SiO2) is one of the major gangues of hematite ores and cannot be easily removed. It is a naturally hydrophilic mineral, in which silicon is the cation in its crystal structure and has very limited solubility. Therefore, quartz must be activated, usually by metal ions, for its effective rejection as a float-product by reverse flotation (AIME. et al. 1976)."

Chemical composition, mineral composition, and iron occurrence state of main mineral are studied, Research of mineral processing technology is carried out according to ore features. The test results indicate, that through staged grinding-staged concentration process, the better separation index is up to 65.54%, iron preparation concentrate grade and 85.66% recovery with the fineness (-200 mesh) 45.88% in the primary grinding ore and the fineness (-200 mesh) 75.50%, in secondary grinding ore in the situation of best magnetic field intensity (roughing 0.2T and cleaning 0.15T).

This study examines the surface alteration and flotation behaviour of synthetic moncheite, PtPd(BiTe)2, in the presence of pentlandite. The telluride minerals contribute around 20% ~ 30% and up to 45% of the PGM present in the Platreef ore and are considered to be slow floating as there is evidence of these minerals reporting to the tailings. It was proposed that oxidation products from other minerals and grinding media would affect the mineral surface composition and floatability thereby causing inadvertent depression of moncheite due to precipitating ions. ToF-SIMS analyses (time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry) was used to characterise the mineral surface as well as the extent of surface alteration. Microflotation was used to deter-mine the hydrophobicity of the synthetic minerals. Conditioning of moncheite in the presence of pentlandite reduced the flotation response of the + 38 -106µm size fraction from > 99% to 56%. This was due to pentlandite dissolution products (iron and nickel hydroxy species) which formed overlayers on the mineral surfaces thereby inhibiting the adsorption of collector. In addition, further grinding of these samples, with and without pentlandite conditioning showed a negative effect on recovery due to the fineness of the particle size distribution and there was no advantage gained from any possible exposure of fresh sites in the sample.

This is a tutorial paper on industrially successful approaches for nonlinear process monitoring. Online process monitoring is essential to continuous operation of plants at high efficiency. The problem of process monitoring is one where an impending but undesirable process condition has to be identified and used to alert process engineers. This problem has traditionally been solved by practicing engineers using statistical techniques that detect a change in the underlying correlation structure of process variables. For linear correlation structures, algorithms such as principal components analysis, independent component analysis and partial least squares have been proposed. However, many industrial processes exhibit nonlinear correlation structure between the process variables. In this tutorial we describe various nonlinear monitoring techniques and elaborate on two recently developed methods, namely Support Vector Machine and Local Linear Embedding. The two methods are evaluated by application on two experimental case studies, a SAG mill and a polymer extruder.

The biggest chromium mineral processing plant in Albania is Bulqiza plant. It has been in operation for more than 20 years, treating low-grade chromium ores grade 20 ? 26 % Cr2O3 and producing chromium concentrates grade 48 ? 50 % Cr2O3. About 2 million tons of tailings with 13 % Cr2O3 content are stocked in a dam close to the plant. Mineral processing of low-grade chromium ores with less than 16% Cr2O3 content is unprofitable because the mining expenses are high comparing with the current market prices of chromium concentrate. Recycle and enrichment of existing tailings is profitable, because there are no underground mining expenses in this case and because that this kind of raw material does not need expenses operation of crushing and grinding. The existing plant is in operation for more than 8 years treating existing tailings as raw material. Grade of concentrate in the value 40 % Cr2O3 and Cr2O3 recovery in the value 30-35% in the plant are considered low. The main reason of low concentrate grade and recovery is high content of particles under 100 microns, the slimes, in raw material. In the paper is described the study carried out to improve enrichment of the tailings, as well as analyses of existing process, raw material and products. It is concluded that majority of lost is present in the slimes which are not separated in existing spiral separators and shaking tables. Basing in the study is composed the new flow sheet of recycling and concentration of the tailings to produce chromium concentrate grade 41 ? 42 % Cr2O3 and recovery 60 %, decreasing in this way the concentrate production cost two times. In the paper are presented the tests and results of concentration of particle size fraction under 100 microns, using gravimetric, magnetic and flotation methods, as well as equipment and machines suitable for slimes treatment and concentration.

One area in AG/SAG milling field which has received a great attention is the optimization of liner design for any application to increase the availability of mills. The Gol-E-Gohar iron ore concentration plant uses three 9m × 2.05m autogenous mills (AG) in parallel in a dry operation. The AG mill shell is lined with three series (57 cm each) of 36-row liners. Due to large variations in feed characteristics and inadequate blending, the performance of AG mills has been lower than the target value. Therefore, to improve the comminution efficiency, the optimization of the design of AG mill shell liners was applied in this plant. By simulation it was found that increasing the liner lifter face angle from 7 to 30° while maintaining the original lifter height (i.e., 22.5 cm) could provide an appropriate charge trajectory. Measurement of the wear profiles of shell liners indicated that the wear along the liner length was not uniform and the highest wear occurred between 0.5 m and 1.2 m of the mill length. A new liner design was proposed by redistributing the metal from parts with a lower wear rate to the parts with a higher wear rate to arrive at a uniform wear profile along the liner length at the liner removal time. The non-uniform shell liner was constructed and installed in one of the three parallel dry AG mills. It was found that the first and second liner designs increased the mill throughput by 2.6 and 7.5%, respectively. After conversion to SAG milling on the account of liner change, 18% (from 413 to 489 t/h) increase in throughput was realized. It was predicted that the non-uniform liner designs will increase the liner life time by 10% and will reduce the scrap metal from the current value of 59% to 50%.

"A weathering-crust niobium-rare earth-bearing deposit is formed by the weathering alterationof alkaline granite, which is refractory due to its low grade and complex properties. The mineralogicalcomposition of ore, the grain size of majorminerals as well as the occurrence of Nb and REE are studied in this paper using MLA combined with traditional methods. According to the results, a wide range of Nb-Ti-REE compound minerals including titanoniobite, uranpyrochlore, chlopinite, samarskite and ilmenorutile areformed for the extensive isomorphous substitution among the elements of Nb, Ta, REE, Fe, Ti, U and Th. The occurrence of REE is extremely complex. First, the REEexistingas rare earth minerals including monazite, xenotime, bastnaesite,etcaccount for 21%. Second, the REEexist in the lattice of Nb and Zr minerals as isomorphous additions, which account for 18%. Third, the REE exist as colloidal rare earthdeposit,which account for 35%. Last, the REEexistingas ion-adsorption-type rare earth,which are adsorbedon the kaolinite in the form of hydrated hydroxyl ions, account for 26%.Based on the results of mineralogy, the combined technology process "mineral processing- hydrometallurgical separation" is needed to deal with the ore. The mineral processing tests show that, for the feed ore containing Nb2O5 0.065%, REO 0.13%, an Nb-REE concentrate containing Nb2O5 1.38%, REO 1.98% can be gained by "high intensity magnetic separation-regrinding-gravity separation by shaking tables". The recovery of Nb2O5 and REO is 62.42% and 44.78% respectively. The Nb-REE concentrate is dealt by the metallurgy process "direct reduction- acid leaching & acidulating- neutralization & precipitation- chlorination & distillation" and the rare earth oxide of 92.34% REO as well as the Nb-Zr oxide of 24.62% Nb2O5 can be obtained with the recovery of REO and Nb2O5 being 76.83% and 59.37% respectively."

"The research is aimed at solving the processing of waste products of titanium-magnesium production. The aim of the research is to extract synthetic carnallite and industrial products enriched with niobium from waste products of titanium-magnesium production. Analysis of the current state of the titanium and magnesium production in the Republic of Kazakhstan shows the availability of significant amounts of chloride wastes containing valuable components. Magnesium and potassium with an average content of 50-60 % potassium chlorides, 25-30 % magnesium chlorides are lost in the wastes of the titanium and magnesium production. Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium Magnesium Plant JSC (UKTMP) currently imports carnallite that is a KCl-MgCl2X6H2O binary salt at quite high prices. Chloride wastes of titanium production, sublimates of dust chambers of a titanium chlorinator, sludge of a magnesium electrolytic unit and sludge of a carnallite chlorinator has been chosen as the targets of our research. The analysis of niobium distribution within any solid waste of a titanium slag chlorination process in UKTMP JSC showed that the highest content of niobium is in the sublimates of dust chambers of a titanium chlorinator in the ranges from 0.26 to 1.0 %. Among the niobium extraction technologies considered, the known method of its extraction from the chloride waste is leaching with weak solutions of mineral acids or alkalis in order to convert the chloride salts into the solution to be used for synthetic carnallite extraction. Besides niobium, other impurity components are transferred to the cake and shall be separated from the base metals. The effective method for this is the chlorination process enabling niobium transfer into the sublimates in the form of chlorides and thus separating it from the majority of the impurities. The condensed niobium chlorides are hydrolyzed transferring it into sediments in the form of oxide. New ways of processing waste products of titanium-magnesium production with the receipt of marketable products are relevant in the development of processing of mineral raw materials."

Fankou Lead-Zinc Mine produced pyrite concentrate (P.C.) from the zinc tailings by rougher and scavenger flotation before 2010, with the averaged S grade of 40.54% at recovery of 79.34% ( to the feed of S circuit). On the one hand, the economic value of P.C. increases with its purity, on the other hand, when the S grade of P.C. feed to sulfuric acid manufacturer is over 47%, the pyrite cinder can reach a high Fe grade of 62% which can be directly sold as iron concentrate. On this background, engineers in Fankou Mine set the P.C. with S grade of 47% as target. The direct way to reach that goal was to clean the rougher P.C.. Lots of cleaning flotation tests were conducted and the compromised strategy was to produce two ranks P.C. with the S grade of 47% and 38% at the recovery of 44.20% and 36.17%, respectively. The dual-product flowsheet was successfully industrialized in 2010. In order to further improve the quality of P.C., gravity separation was introduced into the flowsheet. The numerical simulation and separation tests were performed to evaluate the beneficiation and classification performance of hydrocyclone as it treated the rougher P.C.. It was shown that the underflow of hydrocyclone could addressed the S grade of 47%, and the finer size overflow could also be enriched to P.C. with S grade of 47% by flotation, due to the contained pyrite with well liberation. That is to say, with the ingenious addition of hydrocyclone to treat the rough P.C., single P.C. with S grade of 47% could be achieved. The new flotation-gravity separation flowsheet was commissioned to produce the high quality P.C. at the end of 2013. The averaged S grade is 47.20% at recovery of 82.26% in 2014. The two steps flowsheet improvement maximizes the enterprise benefits and leads to simple utilization of Fe in pyrite in downstream industry.

Low extractions (<80%) in cyanide leaching impose the application of physical and chemical pre-treatment methods (e.g., ultra-fine grinding, roasting, alkaline leaching) prior to cyanide leaching to achieve acceptable recoveries. The effectiveness of the selected pre-treatment method is linked intimately with inherent mineralogical properties of ore. In this study, a refractory silver ore assaying 145 g/t Ag was subjected to various pretreatment tests in an attempt to eliminate its refractoriness. Direct cyanidation of the ground ore (d80: 65 µm) produced a low silver extraction of only 29.5% over 24 h indicating its high refractoriness. Previous studies have shown that silver occurs mainly as Sb/As containing sulfide minerals such as pyrargyrite (Ag3SbS3), tetrahedrite (Cu12Sb4S13) and proustite (Ag3AsS3), which do not respond well to cyanide leaching. Also, silver-containing minerals are closely associated with and/or encapsulated in other mineral phases that can restrict the contact of cyanide with silver. Therefore, alkaline leaching (using 3 M of Na2S, NaOH or KOH solution) and ultra-fine grinding as pre-treatment methods were tested to improve the extraction of silver. All the alkaline leaching tests were carried out for 3 h at800C. Neither NaOH nor KOH leaching produced the desired effect on the extraction of silver (i.e., ~30%). Even, a sharp decrease in the extraction of silver (i.e., 10%) was observed in Na2S leaching. On the other hand, ultra-fine grinding (UFG) (d80: 3 µm) substantially improved the extraction of silver in cyanide leaching (95% Ag at 24 h after UFG). It can be inferred from these findings that the refractoriness of the ore is essentially physical in character (i.e. the encapsulation of silver presumably in non-sulphide minerals such as barite and quartz).

This paper focuses on the influence of pulp oxygen content on the separation of pentlandite and pyrrhotite contained in two different process streams in the Clarabelle Mill, operated by VALE INCO. The two process streams are (i) the scavenger cleaner feed, the product of regrinding the thickened, scavenged concentrate and the B cleaned tail produced from treating the non-magnetic fraction of the milled run of mine ore, and (ii) the magnetic concentrate which is the magnetic fraction of the milled run of mine ore. In the Clarabelle Mill, sulphite (SO32-) and TETA (triethylenete-tramine) are together used to selectively depress pyrrhotite from pentlandite. These depressants pre-ferentially decompose collector and/or sulphur enriched species at the pyrrhotite surface, an appar-ently essential mechanism in pyrrhotite depression from the scavenger cleaner feed stream. Selectivity in depression may originate from differences in the electrochemical rest potential of pyrrhotite and pentlandite. As both minerals are susceptible to oxidation, aeration in conditioning and flotation plays a key role in selective flotation. The large-scale vibrating screens with high processing capacity and efficiency are now in great demand in the mineral processing industry of China. However, as the equipment is always suffering from the strong external harmonic exciting force, the inertial force and the impact from the minerals, the fracture of the beam and the crack of the lateral plate are easy to occur, which has a negative effect on the reliability of the equipment itself and the industrial production. Considering the essential high reliability of the equipment, a new large-scale vibrating screen with duplex statically indeterminate mesh beam structure (VSDSIMBS) was developed. The natural characteristics, namely, the natural frequency (or the modal frequencies) and the natural mode, and the dynamic characteristics of the VSDSIMBS were obtained by the modal analysis and the harmonic response analysis. In addition, the dimensions and the constructions of the statically indeterminate plate and the mesh beam were chosen as the design parameters, to which the sensitivity of the whole mass, the maximum deformation and the maximum stress of the duplex statically indeterminate mesh beam structure (DSIMBS) were summarized for the optimization of the DSIMBS. Now the large-scale VSDSIMBS is being well used in China.

The dry coal preparation technology based on air dense medium fluidized bed is an innovative dry highly efficient technology of coal by introducing fluidization technology into beneficiation.. A modularized 40-60 tones/hr system (KZX-40) with an air dense medium fluidized bed separator was established. The construction cost of the modularized system is only 1/3 of the traditional wet heavy-medium coal preparation plant construction cost with the same capacity, and the consumption of dense medium can be reduced by 50%-60%. The footprint and volume of the system are decreased by 75% and by 89.81%, respectively. These facts show the improved intensity, efficiency and economy of modularized coal preparation technique. The modularized KZX-40 system can be used to separated 50-6 mm coal over a separation density range of 1.3-2.2g/cm3 depending on the variation of <1mm fine coal content. The separation efficiency of the system was investigated at low and high separation densities by float-sink experiments. The partition curve of the products at low separation density shows that the separation density (d) is 1.33g/cm3, and the probable error (E) value is 0.05g/cm3. Using 50-6mm coal with an ash content of 55.35% as feedstock, at a high separation density of 1.61g/cm3, the clean coal with an ash content of 14.67% and the tailing with an ash content of 71.26% are produced with an E value of 0.06g/cm3. It is clear that the modularized KZX-40 system is suitable for separating 50-6mm coal effectively. During the dry coal preparation process, the dust is removed by the bag collector and recycled back into the separator. So the system has the advantages to work without environmental pollution and water. The modularized system greatly reduces the construction and operating costs and decreases the area and volume required, compared with wet dense medium system. South African is a repository of significant deposits of a variety of minerals. The Citigroup confirms this assertion with an estimate of in-situ valuation of US$2.5 Trillion. The mining sector plays an important role in the South African economy. In addition to the mineral resource base South Africa has other comparative advantages. Firstly, South Africa retains major mining companies that participate globally, including Anglo American, Goldfields and De Beers. Their global involvement offers much to the local mining sector and the broader economy. Secondly, government established research councils. The Council for Geoscience (CGS) was established to manage the Geological Survey of South Africa, including the reduction of geo-scientific investment risk. The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) promotes industrial development, including mining technology development. Mintek undertakes mineral research from mineral examination of ores, to extraction and refining technologies and manufacture of end products. Thirdly, South African universities teach and conduct research along the mineral value chain. They have increased their minerals graduates? capacity, thus advancing knowledge and skills. Knowledge and technical progress are behind productivity growth and emergence of competitive advantage. The research and development (R&D) capabilities of industry, science councils and universities, working in unison, will enhance the competitiveness of the South African mining industry. The National System of Innovation (NSI) requires multi-disciplinary, collaborative research. Key R&D elements, including skills and expertise, funding and facilities, must be available to implement a long-term national strategy or programme. Improved international collaboration and partnerships between government, academia and industry driven human resource development (HRD), ultimately develop the critical mass for inter-generational skills requirements. This trend requires an expansion of research collaboration programmes. Decisions involving investments and collaborative actions pertaining to R&D in the sector necessitate an analysis of the South African mineral value chain R&D capability. This paper analyses the evolution of R&D capability from exploration to refining, tertiary education, science councils and industry. The political economy of the evolution of this capability is analyzed in relation to the central role that the South African government plays in creating an appropriate supporting environment and related initiatives to enhance R&D and innovation. Minerals in coals cause operational problems in various coal utilization technology as well as act as diluents towards its heat value. Indian coals contain higher percentage of mineral matter compared to foreign coals due to its formation through drift origin. Efficient utilization of high ash coal in environment friendly manner is the driving force for the development of clean coal technology. Coal gasification offers practical means meeting stringent environment controlled parameters for producing power, chemicals, liquid fuels and clean energy on a single platform. It is well accepted that gasification technology has sufficient potential for sustainable development of clean coal technology. Gasification reactivity depends on the coal properties and operational parameters as well as minerals present in coal. Minerals not only create operational problems but on the other side also catalyze the gasification and combustion reaction. Therefore to understand the effect of minerals on the gasification reactivity, present paper proposes to study the variation of gasification reactivity with various gravity cuts such as, 1.4-1.5; 1.6-1.7; and 1.8-1.9 of a selected coal. Gasification reactivity has been studied by thermo gravimetric analyzer (TGA) using CO2 as gasifying agent. Surface properties such as, true density, apparent density, porosity, surface area of different gravity cut samples have also been measured to find out the effect of gravity separation on gasification reactivity. Granite ores are composed of silicate minerals and a variety of valuable REE (rare earth elements)-bearing minerals, however the processing technique to recover these valuable minerals is not yet developed. In this study, the recovery of REE-bearing minerals by dry magnetic separation and wet high intensity magnetic separation (WHIMS)-settling from surface sample and from drill core sample, respectively, of a granitic REE-Zr-Nb ore deposit was investigated. The two samples have different mineralogy however in both samples, light REE are commonly contained in REE carbonate minerals while Y and heavy REE are commonly contained in zirconium silicate minerals and pyrochlore. The liberation size of the REE-bearing minerals in the two samples ranges from 10-250 ?m. Previous flotation testwork conducted on the drill core sample reported high recoveries of La2O3 (88%) and Ce2O3 (88%) but low recoveries of Y2O3 (42%), ZrO2 (17%), and Nb2O5 (29%). The objective of this study was to obtain higher recoveries of Y2O3, ZrO2, and Nb2O5 by dry magnetic separation and WHIMS-settling. Both processes implemented the application of a low magnetic intensity to initially separate the ferromagnetic minerals then a high magnetic intensity to recover the REE-bearing minerals. The results showed higher recoveries of Y2O3, ZrO2, and Nb2O5 by dry magnetic separation and WHIMS-settling indicating the potential of magnetic separation and gravity separation in recovering the heavy REE-bearing minerals. WHIMS-settling is more recommendable than dry magnetic separation because of its applicability in treating a wider range of particle size. In the WHIMS-settling, the light REE, Y, and Zr minerals were recovered mainly by applying four stages at high magnetic intensity of 21,500 gauss while the weakly magnetic pyrochlore was recovered mainly by decantation of the nonmagnetic slurry after a short settling time of 0.25 to 0.50 h. "The concern regarding grinding media consumption rates is as old as the invention of the tumbling mill. Over the years many materials and grinding media shapes have been tested. Through all this, steel grinding balls have proved to be the most effective media for comminution in tumbling mills. There have been several approaches to be able to the wear of the ball charge in any given mill, all of them based on limited empirical evidence. The mining industry still utilizes the Bond Abrasion test that was developed in the 1960´s. As shown later in this publication, this approach shows error greater than 60%. More recently, in 2007, Radziszewski from Mc Gill University has proposed a different total grinding media wear model; this model is based on decoupling the effects of the abrasion, corrosion and impact wear mechanisms. Also in 2007, Benavente, at the time with Moly-Cop Peru, presented an empirical model relating both ore properties and operational conditions that would affect the wear performance of the grinding media. For the database referred in this article, Benavente’s model shows an average error of ± 12% which represents a higher degree of improvement in comparison with previous approaches. The current paper presents recent research conducted by Moly-Cop Peru to further improve the capability of the empirical model originally developed by Benavente to estimate grinding media wear rates. The work performed included extensive determinations of the Bond Abrasion Index for different types of ores, collected at industrial grinding applications where the corresponding operational information was made available. The results of the research enabled us to build a more robust and confident model for estimating the grinding media wear rate. The average error of this new model is in the order of ± 9% which is a significant improvement over the models previously described."
