"Spodumene, feldspar and quartz possess similar surface properties, which make the difficult to separate spodumene from other silicate minerals by flotation. The differences of crystal structure, surface property and floatability of three minerals were studied by various technical means. The results show that Li-O and Al-O bonds in spodumene structure are not strong and easy to be broken. However, Al-O and Si-O bonds in feldspar and Si-O bond in quartz are very strong and not easy to be broken. High contents of Al and Li on spodumene surface were found by XPS measurements, which is benefit for the adsorption of anionic collector. The surface energies of main cleavage planes of spodumene (110), feldspar (001) and quartz (001) are 1.88 J/m2, 2.97J/m2 and 2.68J/m2, respectively. Hence, the exposed surfaces of feldspar and quartz are not saturated and easy to adsorb OH- ions from solution and cause the lower IEP than spodumene. The contact angles of three minerals in water are lower than 16º, suggesting that the hydrophilicity of three minerals is high, and the order of hydrophilicity is quartz > feldspar >spodumene. Correspondingly, contact angles and flotation recoveries of spodumene are bigger than that of feldspar and quartz in presence of a combined anionic and cationic collector named YOA.INTRODUCTION Flotation technology plays most important role for the recovery of spodumene from pegmatite ore. Generally, spodumene with fresh surface is easy to be floated using soap and oleic acid as collector, and the best flotation pH range is 4.0 to 9.0. However, the flotability of spodumene will become worse when its surface was polluted by slime which produced by the weathering of spodumene and other silicates (Dresler et al. 1998; Moon and Fuerstenau 2003; Menéndez et al. 2004; Yu et al. 2015). In addition, the species of Ca2+, Fe3+, Mg2+ and other metal ions in pulp can not only activate the flotation of spodumene, but also the activation of gangue minerals, and then the flotation selectivity of spodumene from gangue minerals became wores (Wang and Yu 2007; Yu et al. 2014). In order to eliminate the negative effects of slime and metal ions on the flotation of spoddumene, the desliming and long time scrubbing with the addition of NaOH and Na2CO3 were adopted. Usually, NaOH shows the activation for spodumene flotation, and the recovery of spodumene increases with the increase of NaOH dosage. Na2CO3 can eliminate the non selective activation of Ca2+, Fe3+, Mg2+ ions in the pulp, and the concentrate grade of spodumene increases with the increase of Na2CO3 dosage. Anionic collectors such as chelants, hydroxamic acid, oxidized paraffin soap, naphthenic acid and oleic acid were widely used for the flotation of spodumene (Dresler et al. 1998; Moon and Fuerstenau 2003; Menéndez et al. 2004; Yu et al. 2015)."

"The major ilmenite reserves are located in India at Chavara (CH), Manavalakurichi ( MK) and Chatrapur, Orissa (OR). India stands first in terms of ilmenite reserves, which are estimated to be 278 million tonnes out of which, 142 million tonnes are processable. Mineralo-chemical analysis shows that Chavara ilmenite is the most weathered one with about 60% TiO2 while Chatrapur is the least weathered with about 50% TiO2. Co-existence of ilmenite with pseudorutile, rutile and haematite is observed in substantially varying amounts in the three deposits. It is observed that the tropical weathering rather than the source rock difference has apparently played an important role in imparting major compositional and structural dissimilarities among ilmenites in different places.In processing of ilmenite through the Becher process, aeration rusting of pre-reduced ilmenite is found to be the rate limiting step thus, affecting the productivity of the process. Investigations have proved that the addition of some organic compounds such as glyoxal, sucrose etc., to the system accelerates the reaction to such an extent that the rusting time has been reduced to less than half.A new route of processing ilmenite for synthetic rutile has also been developed in which, ilmenite is carbothermally reduced and then processed through plasma route. The slag thus obtained is processed further to get high-grade synthetic rutile, metallic iron and high purity iron oxide. The process has been scaled up in a continuous moving bed plasma reactor. It is technologically and economically more viable where, all the iron values are recovered as salable byproducts. This paper describes the salient features of the technologies developed for the beneficiation of ilmenite to synthetic rutile."

Bor flotation tailings are very interesting from two reasons: first, is having due value presently, and second represent serious pollutant into this region of Balkan. This paper is only one small part of investigation about processing of valuable minerals from tailings, and desulphurization of this biggest pollutant in the same time, by refloating. The main objective of this work is to pay attention on this problem for resolve greatest environ-mental problem of Serbia and Balkan in the nearly future. Bor is potential regional risk spot, since that failure of its tailings dams would release high amounts of toxic materials that would reach the Danube River. The basic goal of this experimental investigation was finding some possibility for flotation tailings treatment by classical froth flotation. In order was obtained material effect through copper recovery, and environmental protection by moving the rest of reprocessing into the safe place. The work present obtained results of laboratory tests in two laboratories: laboratory of mineral and recycling technology at the faculty in Bor, and laboratory of department of mineral processing of ITNMS in Belgrade.

"Currently there is no economical and viable process for on-site metal extraction from Low Grade, Complex or Poly-metallic deposits, and even more, there is not any industrial process or technology able to deal with polymetallic or bulk concentrates containing Cu+Zn+Pb base metals and also precious metals. Traditionally, metals recovery from polymetallic sulfide deposits is performed by mining, selective flotation to separate Cu, Pb and Zn concentrates, and finally, smelting/refining of those concentrates to obtain the refined metals. In many cases, selective flotation of that kind of complex ores produces low metals recovery and low concentrate quality containing impurities such as Hg, As, Bi, etc., which results in high penalties in treatment and refining charges, and consequently, worsening the economy of the mining business. Recovery of the valuable metals from Polymetallic, Complex or Low Grade ores could then be maximised by producing bulk concentrates or middling flotation products to feed novel hydrometallurgical processes, like the integral metallurgical system that is currently under development within the INTMET project. For example, producing bulk concentrates would increase more than 100% Cu+ Zn+Pb cumulative recovery versus conventional selective flotation. Founded by the Horizon-2020 EU Programme, the INTMET Project was started in February 2016 and will be running over three years. The INTMET consortium is led by Cobre Las Cruces (Spain) and integrates twelve partners from seven EU countries, and including Serbia and South Africa as well. The INTMET project represents a challenging opportunity to develop suitable technological solutions to deal efficiently with difficult, polymetallic and complex sulphide ores that are abundant in Europe and worldwide. Main activities carried out during the first 18 months of the INTMET project development includes: (i) An atmospheric leaching pilot plant having a capacity of 300 kg/h bulk concentrate which has been installed and operated continuously for nine months at the Las Cruces mine; (ii) Pressure leaching test work developed by Outotec; (iii) Bioleaching test work performed by Mintek in collaboration with MMI Bor. Prior test work was applied on bulk concentrate samples supplied from Spain, Portugal and Serbia. Some of the results of these technological developments have been very positive and are presented in this paper."

Traditional mineral processing techniques are more and more difficult to recover the increasingly low grade phosphate ores today. Although bioleaching method has been attempted to process low grade ores in hydrometallurgical field due to economical and environmental reason, it has been hardly used in leaching phosphate ore at home and abroad. Strains of Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans and Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans were collected and separated from the acid drainage of a coal mine in Anhui province of China. Ultraviolet irradiation and Microwave inducement were applied to the bacterial cultivation process to produce strains of Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans and Acidithi-obacillus ferrooxidans able to tolerate extremely low pH conditions and generate sulphuric acid by oxidizing elemental sulfur or sulphide and the mutagenesis can achieve higher leaching rate. The bioleaching result will improve more by the addition of Tween series surfactants.

SHP-F3200 wet high-intensity magnetic separator (HIMS) was successfully used to separate the complex and weakly magnetic iron ores being composed of specularite, limonite and siderite in Ji-uquan Iron and Steel (Group) Co Ltd (JISCO). It is more and more difficult to separate iron ores from gangues, such as quartz, jasperite and phyllite, as the properties of iron ores gradually become more complicated and refractory. Some technologies have been used to improve SHP-F3200 HIMS, including modifying angle of magnetic polar from 90°to 83°, cooling exciting coils by oil instead of air, adding reverse-washing device to wash off magnetic particles, adjusting the tooth-space of matrix from 5.0 mm to 3.5 mm or 2.5 mm, so as to enhance the recovery of fine iron ore particles. It is still difficult to meet the requirement for recovering more difficultly-separated iron and the demands for high-grade concentrate of iron. In this paper, after analyzing magnetic force exerting on iron ore particles within different separating sections of SHP HIMS, it is proposed to apply the flowing-film technique into the HIMS. Thus a new-type LY matrix is designed to form magnetic gradient vertically, combined with a special flowing-film feeder to improve the existing SHP HIMS. The moving pattern of magnetic particles in pulp in HIMS separation district also has been analyzed in this paper. And the test on the SHP-F700 HIMS shows, under the condition of iron ore containing 30.52% Fe, with particle size of ?0.074 mm accounting for around 75%, if applied with flow-film technique, the iron recovery will be up from 69.45% to 76.07%, by 6.62 percent, with the same grade of concentrates of iron. The calculation of iron yield of every size fraction and the tests showed that film magnetic separation (Film-MS) could promote the iron yield of each size fraction, denoting an excellent result of application of the film technique to SHP HIMS. The mechanism of the film magnetic separation technique is to convert the turbulent flow and disordered movement of dynamic mass particles in the pulp into a directional and ordered laminar flow along the surface of tooth plate so as to strengthen the separation effects.

The selection and preparation of activated carbon suitable for specific application can often involve exhaustive adsorbent preparation and testing. This work examined an emerging technique based on modelling the correlation of observed adsorption capacity to the carbon characteristics as a means of decoupling the roles of carbon textural and surface chemical properties. The insights to these specific roles are then used in tailor-making adsorbents and in establishing the optimal carbon properties for specific application. In this study, a series of activated carbons prepared from bagasse by physical and chemical techniques and commercially available carbons were used in developing the models. These carbons were tested for the adsorption of thiourea-gold (I) chloride complexes. Thiourea is an important alternative gold lixiviant with the potential to address current ecological and safety concerns in the extraction of gold. A four-component model, which correlated the adsorption gold capacity to carbon textural and surface chemical properties, was proposed. The model fit was assessed using multi-linear regression and a partial F-test. This was followed by goodness of fit test achieved through r2, adjusted?r2 and mean square error (MSE) values. The results suggest the adsorption of the gold-thiourea complex is strongly influenced by the internal surface area and pH of the carbon. Tailor-made activated carbon from bagasse showed adsorption gold capacities of up to 198 mgAu/g adsorbent, demonstrating the potential of bagasse as a precursor for gold adsorbents and of this empirical modelling approach in developing adsorbents for metal recovery.

Gold deposits in South Africa are invariably associated with uranium bearing minerals. Although it is low grade uranium by international standards, averaging around 0.3 kg U3O8 per ton of ore, recovery of uranium as a by-product improves the overall economics of gold extraction. Moreover, the current high uranium prices as well as increased demand due to renewed interest in nuclear power provide significant incentives for dedicated uranium production. An understanding of the uranium leaching response to changes in operating conditions is an important first step to-wards optimisation of uranium recoveries. In South African acid leaching plants, uranium dissolutions higher than 90% are difficult to achieve, and the chemical origin of this limit is not clear. To study leaching behaviour, an important consideration is the mineralogical characteristics of the ores. Typically, a diagnostic leaching approach can be followed. In this paper, a mineralogy-leachability explanation is presented to rationalise the difficulty in exceeding 90% dissolution from low grade uranium ores on the basis of a simple diagnostic leaching method. It was found that brannerite was the main reason for the existence of a dissolution limit in Witwatersrand ore and that chemical liberation was more effective to increase end dissolution compared to physical liberation. The findings from these investigations will form guidelines for developing economically viable flow sheets for improved uranium recovery, at least in a South African (Witwatersrand) context.

With the progressive depletion of known resources of good quality coal and minerals as well as the increasing demand of these minerals by different user industries, the emphasis has been shifted all over the world from selective mining to bulk mining followed by up- gradation to obtain the required quality of concentrate. The column flotation cell is one of the alternatives to reduce the gangue content of fines because of its inherent characteristics viz. easier to operate, low space required, no moving parts etc. A laboratory flotation column is used to conduct experiment. Present work has been undertaken to observe the effect of process variables (gas flow rate, feed/slurry flow rate, and frother concentration) on gas dispersion parameters (gas holdup, bubble surface area flux) in collection zone and to explore the effect of feed (slurry) inlet orientations and gas flow rate on column?s metallurgical performance. The effects of solid particle concentration, size and type (hydrophobic and hydrophilic) of solid on gas dispersion parameters have also been investigated. Test work has been performed in a continuously operating Perspex column (10 cm in diameter and 168 cm in height) using coal, sphalerite and dolomite as solid. Gas hold-up has been measured by phase separation method and mean bubble sizes are estimated from a drift flux analysis. The influence of operating parameters on bubble surface area flux has been discussed. It is observed that gas holdup in collection zone is affected by air as well as feed flow rates and also solid?s type. It is also found that addition of solid decreases the gas holdup and rate of decrease in gas holdup increases when solid concentration increases and particle size increases. Increase in gas flow rate increases recovery in collection zone due to increase in number of bubbles per unit volume of the column. From the experimental results it is evident that cross-current orientation of feed inlet shows slightly better metallurgical performance compared to other orientations. PET/kaolin nanocomposites were prepared with melt blending and the structure of the composites was characterized through IR techniques. The results showed that there is stable chemical bonding between PET and kaolin. In addition, the dispersion condition of nanokaolin was observed by means of SEM and TEM. As a result, the thickness of the dispersed nanokaolin particles in PET matrix is mainly from 20mm to 200nm, and the nanosized particles congregate to some extent in the samples. In addition, it was found the kaolin particles almost homogeneously dispersed in the PET matrix, without preferential orientation because of the shear effect due to melt blending. Furthermore, the mechanical properties of PET/kaolin nanocomposites are dependent on the modification efficiency of nanokaolin. With the poor efficiency, the nanokaolin particles tend to aggregate at a high content and have a bad interfacial compability between nanokaolin and PET matrix, which lead to stress concentration, so the mechanical property descends. Experiments of different contents of modified nanokalin indicated that the intensity of PET/kaolin nanocomposites decreased firstly, then increased, and then decreased, with the nanokaolin content of 4 to 5 percent, the rupture stress of the composites showed a maximum value, which was higher than that of pure PET. On one hand, nanokaolin decreases the function among PET macromolecules, which will decline the mechanical properties, on the other hand, the piece structure of kaolinite improves the intensity of the nanocomposite. When the nanokaolin content is low, the former has the dominant effect on mechanical property, while the latter will play a leading role with the content increasing. But if the nanokaolin content still increases, the agglomeration and stress concentration will be obvious.

Graphite, a mineral form of pure carbon, is one of the most versatile minerals in industry, because of its varying physical properties and characteristics. The mineral occurs naturally in the form of tubular crystals or microcrystalline earthy lumps, or it is disseminated in rocks, which have undergone intense metamorphism. India has a large deposition of graphite minerals out of which about 43% are found in Arunachal Pradesh. However, compared to the rest of the country, the North-East Region and particularly Arunachal Pradesh has not attracted attention till date for detail investigation for characterization, beneficiation, prospecting and/or exploitation of the mineral resources including graphite. Bulk graphite sample were collected from upper Subanshiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. Chemical analysis of the representative samples were carried out and found that 7.29%, 19.60% and 6.07% of fixed carbon (FC) is present in graphite sample collected from La-Lamdak, Bopi and Taliha, Arunachal Pradesh, respectively. Chemical analysis of the ash of the graphite sample shows presence of impurities such as silica, Al2O3, Fe2O3, Ca, Mg etc in the graphite sample which are also supported by XRD and SEM-EDX investigation. The graphite samples of Arunachal Pradesh are low grade and do not fulfill the market requirement for the industrial applications. Therefore, low-grade graphite is subjected to beneficiation for the upgradation of the graphite for industrial applications. We have adopted the dispersion?cum-settling technique for the beneficiation of the graphite sample collected from Arunachal Pradesh. The FC of 40.21% with 41.17% raw graphite recovery which is equivalent to 71.02% carbon recovery have been obtained by gravity separation technique using only distilled water without any chemical reagent in case of graphite sample collected from Bopi, Arunachal Pradesh. The graphite sample is upgraded up to 47.75% FC with 41.91% raw graphite recovery, which is equivalent to 85.85% carbon recovery with the pH adjustment at 9 with NaOH. "The oxidized and mixed ores are processed by heap leaching. Primary ores with high gold content are floated. In recent years mining of primary ores with the low gold content (up to 4 ppm) has increased. Extraction of gold from these ores by floatation is technologically ineffective. Gravity concentration is ineffective for fine gold particles because of their floatability. The research objective was assessment of the viability of processing gold-bearing ore with combined gravitational and hydrometallurgical methods and testing of recovery of metals from a gold-copper oxidized ore chloride-hypochlorite leaching solution. The advantage of chloride-hypochlorite lixiviant is the low cost of reagents which is produced by the electrochemical synthesis of NaCl solution with the addition of HCl. The adsorption of chlorine compounds by a mineral matrix and its ability to oxidize the refractory ore components and allows for the application of chloride-hypochlorite systems for gold recovery for both oxidized and primary ores. The complexity and problem in using a gold–chloride system is the strong adsorption of gold–chloride complexes onto mineral surfaces, such as goethite, quartz, and alumina. In preliminary testing, gold recovery from gravity circuit gold bearing concentrates processed by agitation leaching in chloride-hypochlorite solution, gold recovery has reached up 82% after 4 hours of leaching. Chloride-hypochlorite leaching of copper-gold oxidized ore with preliminary processing by sulfuric acid provided for 94 % gold recovery to solution. Understanding of ecological hazard of cyanides is the motive power of researches in the field of search non-cyanic chemistries to provide for technologically and economically effective solvents of gold. Soluble compounds of chlorine with a suitable oxidizer are one of the alternatives to cyanides. Basic researches of gold extraction by chloride-hypochlorite solution have shown high rates of gold recovery.INTRODUCTION Because of the continued and growing environmental concern for the use of cyanide for gold processing, interest for the use of non-cyanide lixiviants, especially with halides has renewed recently (Tran et al., 2001; Ferron et al., 2003; Bhaghalha, 2007). Leaching solutions based on halides (chloride, bromide and iodide) are viable alternative to cyanide (Kwang et al., 2008). The major disadvantage of the chlorine–chloride system is the high reactivity of chlorine in reaction with sulfide and gangue carbonate minerals. It is believed that only high grade materials may be treated by chlorine–chloride systems economically (Baghalha, 2007). Another important problem of the application of gold–chloride complex is that it tends to be rather unstable and may re-precipitate upon contact with a reductant, such as sulfidic minerals of ore. It is well known that Au(III)–chloride hydrolysis species are strongly adsorbed by goethite, quartz, and alumina (Machfsky et al., 1991). To minimize adsorption of gold–chloro complexes, it works best to minimize the adsorption time."

The results of development of new collecting reagents selectively interacting with the metals of platinum group (MPG) are presented. A new approach to the concentration of the platinum minerals from the fine grade platinum containing products with the use of cloud point polymers for the first time proposed for this purpose is discussed. An original method for the investigation of complexing reagents with the platinum under flotation conditions developed by authors is described. The influence of the complexing reagents on the xanthate adsorption and on the electrochemical properties of the platinum arsenide surface (sperrylite) as well with the interaction mechanism between the reagent and metallic platinum were investigated by means of the modern physical and physicochemical methods of the solid and fluid phase studies. The results of tests of some complexing reagents with the rich copper-nickel ore in the cycle of nickel-pyrrhotite flotation are given. The data obtained makes it possible to mark the complexing reagent containing phosphine group as the most effective additional collector for MPG. Cloud point polymers containing thioamide, aminosulphide, and phosphine functional groups were examined. It is shown that all the reagents tested increase the platinum and palladium extraction to the nickel-pyrrhotite concentrate without quality loss. Platinum containing particles flocculate selectively.

In view of the fact that many domestic iron ore-dressing plant applying flotation cells in the re-verse flotation, to improve the technical level of magnetite reverse flotation, we apply such a technological process of one stage rougher and two stages scavenger flotation column respectively. The middling from the two stage scavenger process are returned to magnetic separation for condensing. By contrast, the technological process of one stage rougher and one stage cleaning flotation cells is made up of by multi-magnetic separation and magnetic middling regrinding separations. It has been proved that the flotation column we offer can simplify the technological process structure, obtain advanced technical indexes, run the system smoothly, reduce energy consumption, and be environ-mental friendly.

Sodium oleate was an effective diaspore collector, whereas chelate collector OL2 showed certain collecting power over diaspore and nonionic surfactant OL3 showed little collecting ability. Then experiments were carried out using sodium oleate as the main collector with the addition of OL2,OL3 to study the influences on diaspore flotation, it could be seen from the experiments that accelerants had a marked influence on the recovery of diaspore, which could be raised by 10%, and the addition sequence also affected the flotation behavior: the best results could be gained when the accelerants were mixed thoroughly before adding and the best ratio of collector OL1 and accelerant OL2, OL3 stood at 30:2:1. Based on the calculation of the ingredients in the sodium oleate solution, sodium oleate reacted with surface of the mineral and formed the acid-soap polymer [HOl?Ol-] when pH was about 9. Zeta potential test showed the accelerant promoted the absorption of collector on the mineral surface, which lowered zeta potential. As could be seen from surface tension experi-ments, the addition of accelerant OL3 lowered the CMC value of OL1 solution, which was equiva-lent to raise the power of the agents. Further Infrared Ray experiments showed the co-absorption of OL1 and OL2 make aluminum oleate on the mineral surface more stable. Up till now, the mixed reagents with sodium oleate as the main collector, combined with other two accelerants had been used in the Zhongzhou concentration plant, which is the first diaspore flotation plant in China.

"Pressure leaching of chalcopyrite and nickeliferrous pyrrotite at temperatures between 105 and 200 ºC has been proposed as a potentially viable route for the extraction of mineral elements from sulphide concentrates. In general, these concentrates contain iron, and the economic success of the processes is partially dependent on the choice of the environmentally acceptable iron-removal technique. One of the most widely used methods for the removal of iron from sulphate liquors is precipitation as hematite, goethite, or jarosite. The nature of the iron precipitate formed dictates downstream dewatering and residue treatment and disposal options. However, a better understanding of iron precipitation under the defined process conditions would consequently be of benefit in process design and optimisation.This study investigated the precipitation of iron in the autoclave at temperatures between 105 and 200 ºC. The effects of temperature, acid concentration, iron concentration, and the presence of other metal cations on the nature and composition of the precipitates were determined."

"Buzwagi Gold Mine (BGM) is operated by Acacia Mining and located in the Lake Victoria Goldfields of central Tanzania. The mine treats a sulphide copper-gold ore to produce gold in form of doré bars and a concentrate containing gold, copper and silver. The BGM comminution circuit includes a primary crushing stage with a gyratory crusher and two grinding circuits using a Semi-Autogenous Grinding (SAG) mill and a ball mill. Currently, the grinding circuits are inefficient in achieving the aspired product fineness of xP,80 = 125 µm even at low to normal throughputs (450-600 t/h). An optimization study of the circuit performance was conducted to improve product fineness through circuit surveys, experimental lab work and simulations. The analysis of survey data revealed inefficient grinding operation characterized by ball mill product (xP,80 > 400 µm) coarser than designed and higher hydrocyclone cut sizes (xT > 200 µm), too. In MODSIM several options were simulated such as reduction of vortex finder and apex diameters, reduction of SAG screen aperture, and modification of cyclone feed density. An improvement of product fineness could be achieved by simulation of the cumulative changes but it was also concluded that the current equipment cannot achieve the target. Further simulations showed that a second ball mill might help to achieve the desired fineness as well as an increase of grinding throughput by up to 26 %. INTRODUCTION Simulation of comminution, particularly grinding and classification, has received great attention for many years, due to the fact that the unit operation is by far the most important both in terms of energy consumption as well as overall plant performance (King, 2001; Wills et al., 2006). The use of simulation is advantageous due to low cost as well as its ability to consider many variables simultaneously. Moreover, there are some benefits for optimizing grinding operations by simulation like decreased unit operating costs, increased capacity, and improved performance of downstream processes due to improved feed size distribution. This paper presents an optimization study for the grinding efficiency at Buzwagi Gold Mine. This was achieved through three full scale circuit surveys, lab work and simulations with MODSIM."

In recent years, coal beneficiation has gotten considerable attention. Selective oil agglomeration has been accepted as the best method to produce clean coal with a high removal of pyrite sulphur. In this study, spherical oil agglomeration of Datong coal fines was carried out using diesel oil as a bridging liquid. The oil agglomeration has a surface properties based on coal cleaning technique. The effects of fundamental parameters have been investigated including the concentration of bridging liquid, the size of coal particle, the solid content of slurry, the agitation time and rate, pH, surfactants on the agglomeration performance and various salts on the ash rejection and removal of pyrite of the agglomerated products. The optimum conditions of particle size, diesel concentration, solid content, agitation speed and time, pH and the dosage of active agent have been determined as less than 8µm, 20wt%, 1200r/min and 10 minutes, 7.5g/t and 100g/t, respectively. Under these conditions the ash content in the products can be achieved 1.5% below, the ash rejection was up to 92%. It has been observed that ionic strength of the aqueous medium affects the agglomeration performance. The precombustion coal cleaning process based on improved selective agglomeration results in high ash and pyrite sulphur removals. Over 80% removal of pyrite sulphur can be achieved from run-of-mine coals by offering a more cost-effective sulphur reduction solution rather than any other SO2 removal technology. In addition, the removal of pyrite sulphur is very necessary for not only the prevention of environmental pollution but also economical reasons.

The low-grade iron ore sample contains both lumps and fines. It is mostly hematitic iron ore and considerable amount of goethitic/limonitic material is present in it. The major impurities present were quartz and clay. It is observed that the iron bearing phases are poorly liberated above 300 µm and the liberation improves below 300 µm. More than 80% liberation is achieved below 106 µm. Based on the liberation data, the feed for the different beneficiation methods was prepared by stage crushed the ROM followed by grinding passing to 106µm and the ground material (-106µm) was deslimed. The underflow was subjected to various beneficiation techniques such as tabling, enhanced gravity separator (EGS), wet high intensity magnetic separation (WHIMS), and flotation and the results are discussed. All the methods studied could able to produce pellet grade concentrate with iron content of 64.5%, however, a marginal higher yield was observed for WHIMS (81%). 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoy hydroxamic acid code name F203 is a good collector of cassiterite, 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoy hydroxamic acid code name ZJ-3. F203 and ZJ-3 are similar series of isomers. They have similar naphthye, and similar series of functional OH and ?CONHOH, but the seat of OH and ?CONHOH group are different, on the F203 is 2.3; on the ZJ-3 is 1.2, ortho position too. According to Isomeric principle ZJ-3 is a good collector of cassiterite slime too. Using ZJ-3 as collector flotation -10µm occupies 90%, grade 1.16% Sn cassiterite slime of Da Chang Chehe concentration plant, pass one coursing flotation, two cleaning and one scarenging flotation, and obtains grand 18.26% Sn, recovery 92.68% cassiterite concentrate. The result proves the Isomeric principle of flotation reagents is correct again. This principle may supply to synthetize new flotation reagents reference.
