The Deltadet System is composed of: The Deltadet II electronic Detonator. A Field Terminal to create, modify or simply execute an existing blasting sequence. The radio remote controlled option is composed of a Base Station to program, calibrate and initiate the EDDs plus a Blasting Box to send commands to the Base Station. Blasting lines to connect the EDDs to the Base Station (100m) and Visual Blast software to create or modify a blasting sequence.

In 1998, the Blast Vibration and Seismograph Section of the International Society of Explosives Engineers formed a working group to collect and compile a list of regulations limiting ground vibrations from blasting. The goal was to locate those countries, states, provinces, and cities that have such regulations, identify which governmental body enforces them, and determine what limits on ground vibrations are imposed upon the blasting operations. In the course of this study, data was collected from over 60 jurisdictions where peak particle velocity restrictions range from non-existent to very stringent. Some of the regulations were found to be based upon standards grounded in good science, while others possess little or no technical justification. This presentation will summarize the findings of the subcommittee, focusing primarily on what the limits are, which type of blasting operations must adhere to them, and to what structures they apply. The degree to which these regulations are based upon valid scientific and engineering research will be discussed. This paper reviews empirical and analytical information about window breakage due to airblast. As is the case with damage to structures caused by ground vibrations, a fixed break/no break threshold is inapplicable and window damage must be expressed in terms of a statistical probability. The information is summarized in a graph showing the probability of windows being broken by a given level of overpressure.

Remote telecommunications seismographs were used to monitor blast vibrations at two historic structures in Cedarburg, Wisconsin during adjacent sewer line construction. An important factor to consider during blast damage investigations is whether the structure was constructed on collapsible soils. Traditionally, these soils have been considered to be soils such as loess deposits, which occur along the Mississippi River in locations such as Vicksburg, MS. However, recent research into collapsible soils has indicated that a number of soils may also fall into this category. A collapsible soil is any soil that is susceptible to large decreases in bulk volume upon saturation.
