"The Luilu cobalt plant at Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of Congo, has been operating since the late 1950s, using a conventional precipitation flowsheet for removal of impurities from the cobalt process stream. Most impurities are, however, incompletely removed using this technology. Copper and zinc, both of which quantitatively deposit at the cathode in the cobalt electrowinning process, are two of the main impurities contaminating the cobalt metal product. Ion exchange offers a modern approach to removing these impurities from the cobalt advance electrolyte.Following a laboratory testwork programme to identify a suitable ion-exchange system, an on-site pilot-plant trial, treating 1500 to 3000 L/d of electrolyte, was operated for a period of six weeks to optimise the operating conditions and to determine full-scale design criteria. Copper removal was carried out using a fixed-bed lead-polish configuration with the Lanxess iminodiacetic acid resin, TP 207. Zinc removal was subsequently carried out in a similar configuration using the Lanxess aminophosphonic acid resin, TP 260. The optimised system proved capable of removing both copper and zinc from 20 to 30 mg/L to <1 mg/L from plant electrolyte containing ~20 g/L Co. Selective elution allows co-loaded cobalt to be returned to the main circuit and value to be obtained for the copper impurity. The process shows operational and economic advantages over the traditional flowsheet. Full-scale implementation of the developed process is in progress and some design considerations are discussed."

"We combined stepwise regression and constrained regression statistical method to obtain the best boundary conditions for the calculation of in-situ stress field in Wushaoling tunnel using finite element method. Our numerical results reveal that: the main geologic factors contributing to the initial background stress are gravity and tectonics; the principal stress values would drop in fault zones; the angle between the maximal horizontal stress and the axis of Wushaoling tunnel is acute; Wushaoling tunnel tends to become stable when this tunnel has 2:1 ratio of the height to its width; the possibility of rock-burst exists under high stress.INTRODUCTIONStress state of engineering region is an important factor affecting the stability of project. Geological disasters in the project area are closely related to their stress environment. Wushaoling tunnel which is 20,050 meters long, lying along Lanzhou-Wuwei segment of Lan-Xin Railway in China, is the key project of Lan-Wu double-track railway. The region surrounding this tunnel is under a high stress environment. Accurate identification of the stress environment of the engineering area and the interaction between geomaterials and geotechnical engineering construction holds significant scientific and practical value for engineering design, construction, and operation.Many scholars explored and discussed the present-day tectonic stress through investigations of tectonic evolution history (Ding, & Lu, 1986), crustal deformation (Zoback, 1992), focal mechanisms (Yang et al., 2003, Xie, Cui, & Zhao, 2004), and so forth. However, the above methods would only provide the approximate direction of the principal stress in a broad region, and could not give the absolute stress values. In-situ stress measurement is one of the primary means to directly gauge the current crustal stress. However, in-situ stress measurement can only be applied in small number limited by measurement conditions."

"The comprehensive assessment of the environmental impacts of mining rare earth element (REE) deposits depends on a sound knowledge of the mobility of REEs in low-temperature aqueous environments. Temperature, pH and water chemistry are important factors controlling the aqueous mobility of REEs, while REEs are known to readily form complexes with both inorganic and organic ligands, and it has been shown that sorption and colloid formation may play an important part in dictating REE transport in the low temperature weathering environment. Ore and host rock mineralogy is also a key factor controlling the extent to which REEs are leached from mine waste. INTRODUCTIONThe aqueous mobility of rare earth elements (REEs) has commonly been explored in the past due to their potential application as tracers of geochemical processes in aqueous systems. REE mobility in low-temperature solutions has been shown to be dependent on the pH, temperature, ionic strength, and solution chemistry. For example, the aqueous transport of REEs can be modified by complexation with organic and inorganic ligands (Johannesson & Zhou, 1999; Klungness & Byrne, 2000; Luo & Byrne, 2004; Schijf & Byrne, 2004; Tang & Johannesson, 2010; Wood, 1990, 1993), or through sorption to suspended particles and colloids (Bau, 1999; Quinn, Byrne, & Schijf, 2004, 2006a, 2006b, 2007; Sholkovitz, 1995). Here we review the coordination chemistry, sorption behaviour and potential colloid association of REEs with respect to low temperature aquatic settings.RARE EARTH ELEMENT CHEMISTRYREEs include lanthanum to lutetium of Group IIIA in the periodic table. All share very similar chemical and physical properties. Often included in REE studies is another Group IIIA element, yttrium owing to its similar properties, and occasionally scandium, although its considerably smaller ionic radius makes for different properties and will not be discussed further here. The REEs are often subdivided into the light REEs (LREE), La to Sm, and the heavy REEs (HREE), Eu to Lu, which also usually include Y (hence are often referred to as YREE). The REE may be subdivided further into the LREEs, middle REEs (MREEs), and HREEs, in which case each classification includes La-Nd, Pm to Ho, and Er to Lu as well as Y, respectively, although definitions vary throughout the literature."

"The Upper Mannville unit commonly consists of interbedded marine and non-marine sands and shales, but in northwestern Alberta the unit consists of marine shales of the Spirit River Formation. A thick tongue of marine shale (Clearwater Formation) ex-tends eastward into the Athabasca area below sandy Grand Rapids beds. Correlation of Upper Mannville rocks to the southeast is difficult, but in the Cold Lake area a thick sandy depositional cycle (Mannville ""C"" of this paper) appears to be approximately correlative with the Clearwater Formation. In the Lloyd-minster region, tongues of marine sedimentary rock occur in the lower part of the Upper Mannville unit. Most of the Upper Mannville oil occurs in the Grand Rapids Formation at Wabasca, in the thick ""C"" unit and younger Mannville sands at Cold Lake, and in the Sparky and General Petroleums sands of the Lloydminster region (Figure 2).The Lower Mannville unit was deposited on an erosional surface of considerable relief that truncated the Jurassic and older strata of the Western Canada basin. Continental, probably fluviatile, sedimentation persisted over much of the Western Canada basin during deposition of the Lower Mannville unit, but an Arctic or Boreal sea lay over part of northern Alberta. At the end of the depositional episode, the sea transgressed southward and eastward (Figure 3) and re-worked the Bullhead and McMurray sands of northern Alberta into the glauconitic Bluesky and Wabiskaw sands. Topography on the sub-Cretaceous erosion-al surface had a considerable effect on the deposition of the Lower Mannville (Rudkin, 1965), and the highest hills on this surface were not completely on-lapped by Lower Mannville sediments (Figure 3). The coarser elastic material was derived both from a western Cordilleran region and from an eastern Canadian Shield region (Glaister, 1959, p. 620; Mellon, 1956)."

With the increasing awareness of the need for the reduction of carbon emissions globally, geothermal energy, which offers a potential for cleaner energy generation, is one potential new source. In Alberta, these geothermal resources are likely to be found in the sedimentary basin, or in the deeper crystalline basement rocks. Alberta exhibits a very low geothermal gradient compared to other existing geothermal fields located in areas of volcanic and tectonic activity. To mitigate this effect, the focus in Alberta will involve the development of engineered geothermal systems (EGS) in the target resource. The first goal for EGS research and development is to develop a detailed geological-geophysical characterization of selected sites to delineate potential geothermal reservoirs in Northern Alberta. One of the selected sites is in the Fort McMurray area. The deepest well drilled in the oilsands areas of Northern Alberta is located just west of Fort McMurray. It has a depth of 2363 m and as such can provide details on the physical properties of the rocks, the state of stress, and the existence of fracture porosity toward geothermal investigations. To date, we have acquired temperature logs to study the change in geothermal gradient with depth, and a series of petrophysical logs to study the finer scale structure of the rock formations with vertical resolutions in the range of 0.05 cm to 80 cm. Our aim is to identify geological features such as zones of fractures in the basin and/or basement that could provide an indication of enhanced fluid flow potential ? a necessary component for any geothermal systems to be viable. Zero offset and walkaway vertical seismic profiles (VSP) were also conducted to measure the seismic responses at the borehole. VSP data can be used to delineate the structural and stratigraphic features surrounding the borehole that could not be resolved from surface seismic reflection data that are also available near the borehole. The full integration of well logs, VSP data and surface seismic reflection data are expected to provide a detailed characterization of the sedimentary basin and crystalline basement rocks of the Canadian Shield in Northeastern Alberta and will assist in future planning for drilling.

"IntroductionThe Key Lake uranium-nickel deposits are located within a Mineral Lease centred at latitude 57 ° 12' north and longitude 105 °39' west along the southeastern rim of the Athabasca sedimentary basin in northern Saskatchewan, approximately 240 km north of La Ronge (Fig. 1). Access is provided by an allweather provincial highway from Pinchousc, situated about 200 km to the south, and a private airstrip maintained at the mincsitc.These deposits have been developed by Key Lake Mining Corporation on behalf of the Saskatchewan Uranium Joint Venture. Participants in the joint venture include Saskatchewan Mining Development Corporation (50%), Urancrz Exploration and Mining Limited (33 1/3 %) and Eldor Resources Limited (16 2/3 %).Considerable geological work has been conducted on the Key Lake orebodies and reported in summary papers published by Dahlkamp and Thn, (1977), Dahlkamp, (1978), Gatzweiler eta/., (1979) and Kirchner el a/. , (1980). However, intensive geological research is ongoing, particularly since many problems regarding ore genesis and controls remain unresolved . Exploration History and DevelopmentThe events (Gatzweiler eta/., 1980) which led to the discovery of the Key Lake ore bodies began in the summer of 1971 by following up on the reports of airborne radiometric anomalies and anomalous radon values in the Zimmer Lake water situated approximately 5 km to 6 km to the southwest. This work succeeded in locating a few high-grade uranium and nickel-bearing boulders associated with esker material. An integrated program, consisting of various geochemical and geophysical surveys along with diamond drilling, culminated in the discovery of the Gaertner orebody during July 1975. Subsequent fence drilling across the strike extensions of this ore structure located the Deilmann deposit, approximately I km to the northeast, in June 1976"

"Heap leaching of low-grade copper-cobalt oxidized ore and solvent extraction of copper, cobalt, manganese, and zinc were investigated. Heap-leaching parameters were optimized using agitated and tray batch leaching tests, capped by tests on a pilot semicontinuous heap-leach plant. The optimum pregnant leach solution yielded 2,350 mg/L Cu, 3,800 mg/L Co, 3,600 mg/L Fe, 130 mg/L Mn, 25 mg/L Zn, and 0.58 g/L solids in suspension, with pH and acidity of 1.27 and 3.66 g/L, respectively. Copper, cobalt, and impurities (Mn and Zn) were extracted using (v/v) 30% CP-150, 20% IONQUEST® 290, and 20% D2EHPA, respectively; overall recoveries of copper, cobalt, and impurities were 98, 99, and 70%, respectively.RÉSUMÉ La lixiviation en tas des minerais oxydés de cuivre et de cobalt et l’extraction par solvant du cuivre, du cobalt, du manganèse et du zinc ont été étudiés. Les paramètres de lixiviation en tas ont été optimisés à l’aide d’essais de lixiviation en discontinu sur un plateau, complétés par des essais relatifs à une usine pilote de lixiviation en tas en semi-continu. It treats oxidized ores of copper and cobalt that are recovered by sulphuric acid heap leaching (Trujillo, Cisternas, Gálvez, & Mellado, 2014; Kime, Kanowa, Mulaba- Bafubiandi, & Diyambi, 2016) and solvent extraction processes (Crane, Urbani, Dudley, Horner, & Virnig, 2009; Fisher, 2011; Kime et al., 2016). The ore to the plant is primarily sourced from the Luita and Mukondo mines. Geological prospecting work by Gecamines and Boss Mining showed that the Mukondo mine contains a very large cobalt reserve not yet exploited, but with grades as low as 0.2%.Currently, Boss Mining is focusing on the production of copper, but is investigating methods to efficiently produce both copper and cobalt. A challenge in the production of cobalt from this ore is its presence in the third oxidation state. This requires the addition of reducing agents, which increases the overall operating cost (Kime & Makgoale, 2016). Cobalt solvent extraction is also very sensitive to impurities such as nickel, zinc, manganese, and aluminum, which are often co-extracted (Swartz, Donegan, & Amos, 2009). This sensitivity to impurities requires the optimization of operational parameters to lower impurity levels as much as possible in the electrolyte."

"The Mountain Lake deposit is a tabular sandstone-type uranium deposit, hosted by the basal unit of Middle Proterozoic Dismal Lakes Group. Uranium occurs mainly as sooty pitchblende disseminated in stratiform lenses within gently dipping quartzose sandstone. It is associated with copper sulphides, pyrite, hematite, and traces of nickel and cobalt arsenides and of silver.Exploration HistoryUranium showings on the PEC claim group were discovered during 1969 by an airborne radiometric survey carried out over the Dismal Lakes-Great Bear Lake area by Aquitaine of Canada Limited (Bizard and Salat, 1969). Some drilling was done in the vicinity of the showings in 1975 by the company under a joint venture with Eldorado Nuclear Limited but the results were not encouraging (Hassard and Woollett, 1975). During 1972, Trigg, Woollett and Associates Limited conducting surveys for Imperial Oil Limited, discovered numerous high-grade radioactive boulders scattered over a distance of several kilometres north and west of the showings, and the area north of the PEC claims was staked as the YUK claims (Ahuja, 1974). A systematic study of the boulder distribution and Pleistocene geology suggested a source additional to the showings. More intensive exploration followed, and in 1976 drilling just north of the PEC claim group boundary intersected the main deposit at a depth of 75 m to 150 m, beneath overburden up to 60 m thick. Part of the deposit extends into the PEC claim group which is under exploration by the Aquitaine-Cominco Joint Venture.The following brief description is based on the presentations in 1978 by F. Hassard of Trigg, Woollett and Associates Limited at the Geoscience Forum in Yellowknife, and by S.S. Large-scale industrial production of pipe began with longitudinal hot pressure welding of wrought iron by passage of skelp (narrow strip with beveled edges) through a die or bell that curled it about a longitudinal axis until the edges were forced together. Such small to medium tubes could be reduced by rolling or drawing; with threaded connections, they were excellent for distribution of clean water and of illuminating gas for street, home and industrial lighting. Although steel lacks the fluxing slag for pressure welding it has hot strength similar to iron; hot-pressure bell welding was advantageously transferred to steel in long coiled strip with 50% higher cold strength. For pipe without weld-line defects, hot cupping followed by Pilger mill rolling produced tubing that revolutionized bicycle quality and high-pressure service for boilers and chemical processing. Mannesman hot rotary piercing produced long thick walled tube that permitted reduction or expansion by rolling to provide pipe sections up to 60 cm diameter and 12 m long. During 1910 - 1940, oil and gas pipeline technologies, notably welding evolved markedly as they proliferated in the United States, in response to far-flung petroleum fields, expanding industry consumption and the automobile revolution. In the Second World War combat pipelines were laid rapidly, such as: the Canol line through the Yukon to Alaska, and fuel supply lines across the channel and through liberated France. Perfection of welding techniques for both longitudinal and spiral weld large diameter pipe in combination with controlled-rolling of micro-alloyed steels made possible reliable Arctic pipelines. The development of pipe production and utilization in Canada is recounted. The fabrication techniques and metallurgical controls are explained.

Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde S.A.A leaches secondary copper sulfides. In recent years, the mine has introduced innovations that have improved the management of mineral crushing, agglomeration, curing, and leaching. The crushing plant, for example, uses the concepts of degree of balance and percentage of time in an operationally balanced state which, displayed in real time, facilitate more intensive and uniform utilization of the crushers. High agglomerate quality is ensured with the correct dose of moisture, which is adjusted to the changing characteristics of the mineral through the use of electrical conductivity measurements. The amount of acid used for curing the agglomerate is also adjusted by using quality control information. Finally, the stockpile irrigation regime is managed using the criteria established by the "Lixiviant Request Rate", which optimizes the addition of leaching solution, creating such benefits as faster recovery, and reduced acid and energy consumption.

A chemical process, based on laboratory investigations, is proposed for the production of high-purity niobium oxide from a pyrochlore-perovsk1te flotation concentrate produced from ore obtained at the Oka, Quebec property of Columbium Mining Products Limited. The method developed included the decomposition and dissolution of the flotation concentrate with hot, concentrated sulphuric acid. The dissolved niobium was purified and concentrated by a solvent extraction step, using methyl isobutyl ketone as the extractant. The niobium was recovered from the extractant with ammonium fluoride solution from which niobium oxide was precipitated with ammonia. Finally, the filtered and washed precipitate was calcined. Ninety-six per cent of the niobium was recovered in a product analysing 99.9 per cent Nzo.. The reagent cost was in the range of $1.00 to $1.25 per pound of niobium recovered. Introduction OVER the past few years, Columbium Mining Products Limited has been engaged in the development of a niobium-bearing mineral deposit in the vicinity of Oka, Quebec. Introduction Air conditioning is a term which has come into common use only during our generation. By definition, it means the positive and accurate control of temperature, humidity, movement, purity, and component constituents of the atmosphere within an enclosure. Claiming such results for Noranda&apos;s ventilation system, or for that of any other large mine, at present would be an idle boast. However, we are working toward that end with considerable success. Modern underground ventilation at Noranda dates back about six years. The later development of air conditioning is in its fourth season, but still in the experimental stage. Various ingenious methods have been devised to cool mines which, because of climatic or geological conditions or depth, are excessively warm. A few installations have been made to warm intake air during the winter months where this is necessary. However, the method currently in use at Noranda is unique in that it accomplishes both ends by one process. This method utilizes the freezing and melting of ice to equalize year-round temperatures. Mining Methods While a discussion of mining methods at Noranda is not proposed in this paper, a brief summary may be in order. The Horne mine of Noranda Mines, Limited, has been developed by six shafts, four of which are now active. The most recent, an internal shaft, extends to 6,000 feet below surface, but all of the ore mined to date has come from above the 3,000-foot level. Figure 1 shows a model of principal ore bodies. The area mined is relatively small in plan, considering its vertical extent and the tonnage per vertical foot. Most of the ore lies within an ellipse about 600 by 1,000 feet. While this has certain advantages, the mining of such massive orebodies has presented many problems.

Abstract - The Ta-Nb-Zr-REE-rich McKeel Lake alkali granite pegmatite-aplite dike swarm is hosted within the late Silurian multiphase alkali granite intrusion (Welsford) near Browns Flats in southwestern New Brunswick. A steep easterly dipping series of pegmatite-aplite dikes trending 170º can be traced 150 m along strike; they are up to 40 cm wide, closely spaced (10-20 cm apart), and interconnected by narrow branching dikelets that generally trend perpendicular to the overall strike direction. The Welsford intrusion has mantle A-type affinities characterized by enrichment of Zr, Ta, Nb, Th, and rare earth elements (REE). Two separate sets of dikes have been identified: (1) an unmineralized fine-grained porphyry, which occurs at depth and seems to be the youngest intrusive phase; and (2) a mineralized pegmatite-aplite dike swarm (419 ± 20 Ma) that crops out at surface. The mineralized pegmatite-aplite dikes likely represent a late magmatic, highly fractionated phase of the Welsford intrusion. XRF and INAA data indicate that the Welsford intrusions and related pegmatite-aplite dikes show elevated levels of Ta (74-220 ppm), Nb (750-3,040 ppm), Zr (1,450-36,000 ppm), Y (540-3,070 ppm), Th (170-870 ppm), U (60-250 ppm), Ce (430-1,950 ppm) and Yb (110-290 ppm). Electron microprobe analysis of two samples identified Ta-Nb- and REE-rich phases: euxenite, fergusonite, aeschynite, (Y)-aeschynite, and a REE carbonate.

"THE AREA which is described in this paper (Fig. 1) includes the continental margin of eastern Canada extending from the Gulf of Maine to the north edge of the Grand Banks, which, including the continental shelf, slope and rise, comprises an area of about 600,000 square miles. The paper is intended to give a background of the geological setting of this region in the context of its ultimate potential for oil and gas reserves in close proximity to the Nova Scotia energy market.HISTORY OF EXPLORATIONThe history of geological exploration of this area really began in 1878, when U.S. fishing boats brought back samples of rock recovered in trawls from their expeditions to the long-famous fishing banks off Canada's East Coast. Tertiary and Cretaceous fossils recovered from these samples indicated that the eastern Canadian continental shelf was actually the submerged northern extension of the Atlantic Coastal Plain."

"Asbestos Corporation Limited, incorporated in 1925, operates four asbestos mines and three asbestos mills in the Thetford Mines 1•egion of Quebec's Eastern Townships. A unique asbestos orebody, located in the Ungava Peninsula of Nouveau Quebec, was purchased by Asbestos Corporation Limited in 1964 and commenced production in 1972. As there were no existing facilities in the isolated, arctic region of Asbestos Hill, it was necessary for Asbestos Corporation Limited to construct at Deception Bay a deepsea wharf, a large ungraded fibre shed, a power plant and camp facilities. Forty-two miles of road were needed and were constructed from Deception Bay to Asbestos Hill. At Asbestos Hill, a complete crushing-drying-milling complex, a power plant, pe1•sonnel accommodations and open-pit facilities were provided. Unloading facilities and a fib1•e finishing mill we1l constructed at Nordenham, West Germany. The ""Asbestos Hill- Nordenham Story” is divided into individual papers covering all aspects of the engineering, construction and operation of this unique enterprise. Particular emphasis has been placed on those unusual aspects caused by the isolated location, arctic conditions, short shipping season and the deep permafrost."

The history, geological setting and local geology of the Magnum vein system, 100 miles west of Fort Nelson in northeastern British Columbia, are described. The system comprises a number of quartz-ankerite veins, mineralized with chalcopyrite and lesser pyrite, occurring in a steep northeastly zone of deformation and subsequent dike intrusion within otherwise little-deformed Precambrian sedimentary rocks. In April of 1970, Churchill Copper Corporation began producing copper concentrates in a 750-tpd mill fed from the Magnum mine.

"The Madsen mine is in the southeastern part of Baird township, in Red Lake area, Ontario. It lies about 6 miles southwest of the town of Red Lake, with which it is connected by an all-weather road.The Madsen Red Lake Gold Mines Company was formed in March, 1935, to take over the holdings of the Falcon Gold and Jomac Gold syndicates. During 1935 an4 the early part of 1936 No. 1 shaft was sunk and drifts driven on four levels, all on a narrow quartz vein in a granite dyke.In July, 1936, the Austin zone was discovered about half a mile north of No. 1 shaft by Austin McVeigh, a prospector employed by the Company. Diamond drilling showed that the zone included an orebody worth development, and in 1937 No. 2 shaft was sunk, three levels opened up and sufficient ore outlined to justify the installation of a mill. Milling commenced in August, 1938, at the rate of 300 tons a day, which was later increased to 400 tons a day.The total production from 1938 to 1946 was 1,116,307 tons from which gold and silver having a value of $9,949,010 were recovered. The gold produced ranged from a minimum of 0.1910 oz. a ton in 1939 to a maximum of 0.2827 oz. in 1944. The average grade in 1946 was 0.2345 oz. to the ton."

Entre 1983 et 1997, l'exploitation de la pierre de taille au Québec a été marquée par l'émergence et la consolidation de plusieurs nouvelles variétés de granit, provenant exclusivement ou presque de la Province de Grenville. Le Québec demeure toujours le principal expéditeur canadien de granit dimensionnel, avec des expéditions annuelles représentant près de quatre-vingt-dix pour cent des expéditions totales canadiennes de granit brut et transformé. La production annuelle de granit brut oscille, depuis 1994, autour de cent mille tonnes métriques. Cette production a plus que doublé de 63 000 à 140 000 tonnes métriques entre 1981 et 1990, mais elle a connu une chute importante en 1991 (67 000 tonnes métriques); cependant depuis 1994, elle est en forte progression (Ménard, 1998). En 1983, le granit dimensionnel était extrait de plus de vingt-cinq carrières, dont les trois quarts se localisaient dans la Province géologique de Grenville. Comparativement, en 1997, le Québec comptait trente-sept carrières actives, dont trente-cinq dans le Grenville (Gaudreau et al., 1998). Cette concentration des carrières dans la Province de Grenville s'explique par la demande accrue de nouveaux produits au fil des ans et par le potentiel élevé de découvertes de nouvelles variétés dans cette Province géologique. L'accessibilité au territoire, toujours plus grande, a facilité la mise en production de carrières favorisant la diversification des produits. Le ministère des Ressources naturelles du Québec (MRNQ) a consacré depuis 1980, beaucoup d'efforts dans la recherche de nouveaux gisements et de nouvelles variétés. En plus des programmes de subvention destinés aux prospecteurs ou aux compagnies, le ministère a réalisé des campagnes d'inventaire de pierre de taille, de pierre concassée et de pierre d'enrochement pour en connaître le potentiel géologique et à orienter les recherches futures (Nantel, 1983; Nantel et Martignole, 1991; Bellemare, 1995a, b, c, d, e, f, 1997, 1998a and b; Bellemare et Petryk, 1996a, b, c and d). Cette étude donne un aperçu des différentes variétés de pierres extraites dans la Province de Grenville entre 1983 et 1997, les situe dans leur contexte géologique et en localise les principales régions productrices. "An evaluation of mineralization in the Goosly- Owen Lake area of central British Columbia is the result of a comprehensive geochemical study of rock samples obtained from a regional geological survey. The dispersion of metals in country rocks about a line of Tertiary intrusions suggests that these igneous bodies may be genetically related to known sulphide replacements, disseminations and vein deposits. The geochemical investigation is based on the determination of 12 elements from samples gathered from more than 800 scattered field stations. To assist processing and interpretation, the data are subjected to a variety of statistical procedures, including correlation of the elements, factor analysis, clustm• analysis and computer contouring of the elements. Some practical applications of rock geochemistry in regional exploration are indicated."
