A study was made of the instrumentation and technique of atomic absorption spectroscopy developed by Walsh of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (C.S.I.R.O.), Australia.The method was evaluated for the determination of silver in lead sulphide concentrate. The precision of the procedure developed is equal to that of the uncorrected fire assay method and the accuracy is greater.Brief mention is made of the use of this technique for the determination of silver and other elements in ores and concentrator products.INTRODUCTIONThe fire assay method, although accepted on a world-wide basis as the umpire method for the determination of silver in ores and concentrates, is freely recognized as yielding results which are lower than actual due to unavoidable losses.King (1934) investigated the influence of the cupelshape, size and material on silver losses during cupellation. Using 100 mg silver prills he recorded silver losses ranging between l. and 10 per cent under extreme conditions and averaging approximately 2 percent under conditions which might be considered normal. Guerin (1957) made a detailed study, under carefully controlled conditions in a furnace similar to that described by Esdaile (1952), of the effect of temperature on silver losses during cupellation. The RockWorks EarthApps represent a free collection of 74 geology-related programs that read data from a built-in datasheet and create diagrams within Google Earth. EarthApps also includes programs that extract data from Google Earth. The programs that create diagrams include: point mapping (e.g. borehole locations), proportionally scaled icons (e.g. geochemistry), and strike & dip symbols. Line mapping utilities include; polylines, parabolas and pipelines. Polygon mapping programs include; thematic mapping (e.g. geology), mining claims, and public land survey sections. Image overlay capabilities include; draping (e.g. geologic maps) and time-based animations. Vertical image display capabilities are centered on either midpoints (e.g. drill-hole logs) or stretched between endpoints (e.g. cross-sections). The Flyover programs create virtual tours for site presentations. The cell-mapping includes a variety of algorithms (e.g. geochemical and geophysical contouring). Survey programs convert and export survey data to Google Earth as points and polygons. Programs that extract data from Google Earth include; points, lineations, polylines, and polygons. The RockWorks/EarthApps collection is developed by RockWare Incorporated based in Golden, Colorado.

As fractures are propagated through rocks, energy is absorbed near the extending crack tip. Apparent surface energies for several rocks have been measured by cleavage under dynamic con-ditions. At nominal crack velocities from 0.5 to 500 in (min, measurements showed that fractures propagated in discrete jumps. Calculated surface energies and moduli were relatively insensitive to nominal rate of cleavage. in another set of experiments, rocks were cleaved under high confining stresses. The rocks were submerged in low leak-off fluids which formed a filter cake on the freshly cleaved surfaces (similar to the hydraulic lracturing process). Apparent surface energies were increased substantially as the surrounding fluid pressure was increased. Moduli in bending increased significantly upon application of the first 1,000 psi but were insensitive to stress level at greater pressures. INTRODUCTION For almost 20 years, hydraulic fracturing processes have been utilized effectively to stimulate oil and gas wells. During this period, some process improvements have resulted from studies of fracture orientation, mechanics of fracturing, areas generated, conductivities of cracks, etc. Yet many questions remain concerning the conditions and pressures needed during fracture propagation. In this paper we will report additional studies of the mechanics of fracture extension. It was shown previously3 that large rock samples could be cleaved under controlled conditions so as to measure the apparent surface energy (that amount of energy absorbed per unit area of new surface created). In this paper we consider the effects of two additional factors on surface energies, viz.: (1) effect of cleavage rate and (2) effect of confining stress level. THEORY Cleavage experiments were conducted on rock samples similar to that illustrated in Fig. 1. Blocks of rock several inches wide, 2- to 3-in. thick, and up to 3 ft in length were grooved longitudinally with shallow guide slots. A crack was initiated and allowed to extend along the web as the top of the rock specimen was pulled (or pushed) apart. Auxiliary equipment permits the measurement of (1) force applied at the top, (2) separation at the top and (3) crack length. (Further experimental details will be given in the next section.) The rock beams created by the crack are considered ton be cantilever beams. The deflection (or separation of the rock beams) at any point is calculated 4,5 by the beam Eq. 1.

Recurring movements remotely connected with the Murray fracture zone and the San Andreas fault complex, together with the slow northwestward drift affecting the Baja California peninsula, could progressively have accentuated the tensional situation already connected with the anticlinorium in southern Arizona. From the fragmentary data gathered on the Texas lineament, it appears that a very mild curvature, concave to the northeast, may be present along this belt throughout Arizona. Those localities where the successive changes in direc¬tion of the strands of the lineament belt seem to occur do generally coincide with intersections of both north-northwestern and northeastern breaks. It is along the outward, southern fringe of the belt (at such structural centers like Bisbee, Baboquivari, Ajo) that the greatest impact of regional movements could be expected to have occurred through tangential-torsional stresses. Although it si accepted that the north-northwestern and more particu¬larly the northeastern fractures in Southeast Arizona are propitious to or partially responsible for mineralization, it seems undeniable that the Texas lineament belt must have greatly increased the potentialities for ore throughout the Arizona copper province. While intrusive bodies occur near major intersections, with the Texas lineament belt as a common denominator, it seems, the ore deposits are to be found close to one of the intrusive stocks, varying in distance from contiguity (Bisbee) to one or two miles away (Silver Bell orebodies).

The Boston Marine Industrial Park (BMIP) Boat Section, which is part of contract C04A2 of the Central Artery/Tunnel (CA/T) project, is currently under construction in South Boston, Massachusetts (Fig. 1). The Boat Section is approximately 900 feet long and varies in width from about 135 to 185 feet (Fig. 2). The depth to the top of the Boat Section base slab varies from about 28 to 31 feet below final ground surface and about 23 to 26 feet below normal ground water levels. The Boat Section is supported on 578 anchors drilled into the underlying bedrock each designed for a working load of 630 kips. Design and Construction Team The owner of the project is the Massachusetts Highway Department (MHD). The owner's representative is the Management Consultant, Bechtel/Parsons Brinckerhoff. The section design consultant (SDC) consisted of HDR Engineering, Inc. with GEI Consultants, Inc. as the geotechnical subconsultant. The general contractor was the joint venture of Kiewit, Perini, Atkinson, and Cashman. The boat anchors were installed by the subcontractor Delta Geotechnical Services, Inc.

Fluid flow properties of porous media have long been of interest in such varied disciplines as geology, geophysics, soil mechanics, and chemical, civil, and mechanical engineering. This interest has resulted in numerous models of porous media that have been proposed, tested, and found to be useful under, at best, only special circumstances. A critical review of most of these models is given by Scheidegger. 1 The application of each new tool to the study of porous media has helped to test some of the existing theories and to form new ideas based on the new parameters being measured. In the application of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques to the study of the properties of fluids in porous media, the theoretical studies of Korringa et al.2 resulted in a model for the relaxation of spin polarization of protons in a hydrogenous fluid in a pore of a solid. Seevers3,4 verified this model, established a method for measuring the surface-to-volume-ratio distribution in a porous medium, and proposed a technique for determining specific permeability in sandstones. In the present investigation, the uses of NMR methods are extended and a simple model of porous media is developed from an analysis of pulsed NMR measurements. In this model, the pore spaces of a porous medium are divided into three groups on the basis of their surface-to-volume ratios. To evaluate predictions of the NMR model, laboratory measurements of spin-lattice relaxation time, porosity, permeability, and residual (irreducible) water saturation were conducted on more than 150 sandstone samples obtained from four oil fields in North America. Applications are discussed for estimating the volume of movable fluid, ?p, and the specific permeability, k, of sandstone samples. The former parameter, which can be considered as producible porosity, is expressed by ?p = [1 -- (Swr/100)]? , .... (1) where + is porosity in percent of bulk volume and Swr is the residual (irreducible) water saturation in percent of pore volume at a capillary pressure of 50 Psi. Fast, nondestructive laboratory methods are described for determining porosity, movable fluid, and permeability of sandstone samples from measurements with a pulsed NMR (spin-echo) apparatus. Procedures are given for adapting these methods to samples of irregular shape and small size. Theory General In the Korringa, Seevers, and Torrey2 (KST) model the observed decrease in the spin-lattice relaxation time, T1, of protons of a hydrogenous liquid contained in the pore spaces of a porous solid is attributed to an increase in the correlation time for the random motion of the water molecules and to the presence of paramagnetic centers at the liquid-solid interface. A system of steel sheeting and multiple levels of high capacity double corrosion protected soil anchors were used to restrain a major slope failure that occurred at the base of the Watchung Mountains mid-way through construction of a 650,000 SF retail center along Route 22 in Watchung, New Jersey. The implementation of a design-build earth retaining structure was necessary to stabilize and repair the disturbed mountainside in a timely fashion to permit completion of the retail center on a fast track schedule. The tied back steel sheetpile wall was approximately 2,000 feet long and varied in height from 12 to 25 feet. The hillside extended approximately 350 feet above and 600 feet beyond the wall with the main failure scarp extending 50 feet above and 90 feet beyond. The wall was constructed in a top-down manner and required the installation of 475 anchors to resist loads of up to 70 kips/ft produced by the creeping hillside and groundwater flows from both a series of springs and steady state seepage through an inclined zone of fine sand. Incorporation of a unique tie point connection eliminated the need for a waler, facilitating and simplifying modifications to anchor locations based on anchor load test results and conditions encountered during construction. Post grouting also proved to be an essential element in the successful construction. This paper presents the design and the construction methods used to restrain the significant earth lateral loads produced by a slope failure using steel sheeting tied back with high capacity soil anchors with anchor loads distributed to the sheeting through a unique tie point connection on a fast track schedule. Installation techniques, testing programs, and construction quality control are also discussed.

Generally speaking, wastewater coming from the metallurgical process for recovering precious metal contains precious metals such as gold (Au), platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), Silver (Ag), etc., which concentration is about 10 mg/L. In addition, there are other metals such as copper (Cu), iron (Fe), which concentration varies from several mg/L to more than 10,000 mg/L. It should be noted that the concentration of metals in wastewater is relatively high, considering the fact that these metals of similar concentration can be found in ores. However, most of these valuable metals are not treated, due to the high processing cost and technical problems. Within this frame, the authors put forward a new process that includes neutralization/reduction, precipitation and fusion. The idea is to recover and recycle Au, Ag, and Pd metals as well as protecting the environment by saving the resources. It was found that this new process was able to recover more than 90% of Au, Ag and Pd.

Research efforts by the U.S. Bureau of Mines include running a series of displacement-discontinuity, boundary-element models to simulate the gateroad design at an underground coal mine in northwestern Colorado. The initial mine design is a yield-abutment chain pillar arrangement in a three-entry, longwall gateroad system. Pressure effects from mining the first and second panel were recorded using borehole pressure cells (BPCs). These field data were then compared directly to the model output. Observed yielding in the field was approximated by reducing material property values and/or removing pillar elements in the model. Model results using this calibration technique mirrored the field measurements consistently. Using the calibrated model parameters, a suite of models was run simulating an experimental entry design: exchanging the yield and abutment pillar locations. These model results reflect a 20¬to 33-percent reduction in core stresses in the yield pillar during mining of the second panel. Improved pillar and entry conditions are suggested by these predictive results. The design modifications were then implemented at the mine along a 150-m (500-ft) test section. Field observations and measurements from the experimental design test site compared favorably with trends of the model predictions.

In several recent instances when germanium had been bonded to nickel with lead, a new metallic phase appeared, unattached to either germanium or nickel, but rather suspended as a continuous foil wholly contained within the lead matrix. Since such metallic structures do not form in nickel-lead or lead-germanium systems under identical conditions, a brief study was made of the characteristics and possible formation mechanisms of this material. Cathode stripping machine technology has been developed significantly both in electrorefining (ER) and electrowinning (EW) applications in the last ten years. The main driver has been robotic cathode handling, which has enabled increased flexibility to meet different layout and material handling requirements for both ER and EW processes. Additionally, cathode stripping stations have been continuously developed to optimize speed and to reduce mechanical stress of permanent cathodes. 'taco' type cathodes have been proven as beneficial approach for high capacity operations (particularly in Cu ER), where over 600 cathodes per hour continuous throughput has been achieved. However, the latest developments also apply to split type cathode stripping. Besides material handling, the modern cathode stripping machine has also an important role to provide information for production and quality monitoring. This paper describes the latest developments from the field of copper cathode stripping based on several different projects implemented in the recent years. INTRODUCTION After introduction of the permanent cathode technology in the late 1970s, it became the prevailing technology in copper refineries over the traditional starting sheet process by the end of 1980s. The main driver was less labour-intensive production due to fewer processing steps required along with more automated electrode handling equipment (cathode stripping machine, anode preparation machine, anode scrap washing machine and tankhouse cranes). Since then the design of the cathode stripping machine has followed the development of permanent cathode technology. The main development steps so far can be summarized as follows: Full Deposit Stripping Machine (FDSM) based on waxed permanent cathodes or cathodes with bottom edge strips resulting in split cathodes (copper sheets separated, see Figure 1) Wax less cathode stripping based on V-groove on bottom of the edge strip resulting in either ‘taco’ cathodes (enveloped copper sheets, see Figure 1) or split cathodes Full Deposit Robotic Stripping Machines (FDRSM) using 1–5 robots for permanent cathode handling and cathode stacking.

"Declining ore grade, leading to increased material transport and plant throughput requirements, is one of the major challenges in the current mining environment. This is accompanied by rising energy and labor costs, decreasing plant productivity and the requirement for highest plant availability. Siemens’ answer is the latest gearless drive technology for grinding and conveying. Gearless drive solutions are surpassing the mechanical limits of conventional drive systems serving to utilize the principle of economies of scale. By elimination of various components of the drive train the maintenance activities and spare parts inventories are reduced. The advantages are culminating in the incomparable availability of the Siemens’ gearless drive technology of 99.46 to 99.71% - as confirmed by real operational data from the Antapaccay mine in Peru. It was the first plant worldwide to use gearless drives for both applications. Especially those components that are at the edge of current manufacturing or power limits are eliminated. The used equipment provides the possibility to scale up and increase the power transmitted to the driven machine. This finally results in a possible increase of throughput respectively transported or processed material. In order to apply this principle of simplification we will take a look at the components of a conventional drive system consisting of: - Driven equipment (mill, conveyor, slurry pump…) - Components altering the rated speed (gearboxes, girth gear / pinion) - The electric motor - Starting devices for the motor (VSD, CCV, LRS, clutch…), which are necessary because a direct across-the-line start of high power motors with load would result in a significant drop in the line supply voltage - Alternatively a variable speed drive (VSD) or cycloconverter (CCV) to utilize the possibility of speed variation during operation - The electrical supply system (cables, switchgear, transformers, protection equipment) Intermediate gearboxes are not required when a motor is used with a rated speed that directly matches the speed requirement of the driven equipment. Furthermore the VSD can be used to smoothly start the motor and to vary speed during operation, which means that it satisfies both requirements."

This is one of a series of papers describing mining and related subjects affecting mining in western mining districts and mineralized areas. The parts of this paper pertaining to current production, mining and milling methods and practices, and general conditions affecting mining were collected principally during a field survey made in May 1935. Some original data obtained on previous visits to the area are also included. The history, geological background, and past production of the mines and district are largely abstracted from previous publications, for which due credit is given later in the test. The principal districts in the Black Mountains are the Oatman or San Francisco and the Union Pass or Katherine. This range contains the principal producing mines of the State, in which gold is the only important metal. Although the total production of gold is relatively small as compared to other districts where the precious metals are obtained as a by-product in copper min¬ing, the area is one of considerable economic importance to the State.

Recently discovered Carboniferous bentonites are variable in charadeI and thickness, but being altered aeolian, ash-fall tuffs, they are probably extensive. Most are the Ca-montmorillonite type without the natural swelling characteristics of the Wyoming deposits, but their situation, thickness, and response to beneficiation through cation exchange may give them some potential as sources of future economic deposits.INTRODUCTIONLoughnan and See (1959) gave an account of bentonites and fuller's earth deposits of New South Wales. The most likely potential industrial sources were those occurring in the uppermost formations of the Newcastle and Singleton Coal Measures (Permian) in the Hunter Valley and deposited during epochs not marked by strong contemporary vulcanicity.One feature of the record of known occurrences at that time was the absence of bentonites from the thick volcanic sequences of the Carboniferous, but since this paper appeared, many bentonite beds have been discovered by the writer in the Carboniferous facies formerly known as the "Kuttung Series".The purpose of this contribution is to report briefly on the occurrence, genesis, mineralogy, and economic potential of these deposits which augment possible sources of bentonite near major industrial centres on the eastern seaboard.The potential world demand for bentonite would increase markedly with the trend to pelletization in the steel industry, if its use in this field became more general. "A major shortcoming of the statistical back-analysis of coal pillar strength is that it relies on the asmined pillar dimensions, not taking into account time-related pillar scaling with subsequent reduction in pillar width. The paper describes an investigation where the rate of pillar scaling was applied to the pillars in the databases of failed and unfailed pillars. The reduced pillar sizes were then used in the same method of statistical back-analysis that had been used in the past.This resulted in an equation for pillar strength which predicts significantly greater pillar strength than the previous statistical analyses, which is similar to the strength which had been found earlier by direct testing of large specimens underground. It is concluded that the lower strengths found by previous statistical analyses are due to the incorrect pillar width being used and that by adjusting the pillar sizes to compensate for scaling, more credible results that correspond to direct testing are obtained.As the newly derived strength equation is time-dependent, it follows that the safety factors and probabilities of failure are likewise time-dependant. An equation to determine the probability of failure is also developed. This results in the safety factor being close to unity at a probability of failure of 50%, which is aligned to statistical expectation. IntroductionSince the Coalbrook mine disaster, caused by massive pillar collapse, there have been several attempts at analysing and defining the strength of coal pillars. It was realized in the very beginning that performing classical strength tests on coal specimens in a laboratory and then transferring those results to real coal pillars could not be successful. The scatter of results is one problem and, more seriously, there is a size effect (at least for small specimens) that made the transformation of strength results to much larger coal pillars underground all but impossible.Two main schools of thought then emerged. Some researchers preferred to perform direct strength tests on large specimens underground, while others relied on statistical back-analysis of failed and unfailed pillar cases, attempting to determine the differences in size and shape that would allow a satisfactory prediction of failure. The latter school of thought resulted in the method that was widely accepted by the South African coal mining industry, described in the landmark publication by Salamon and Munro (1967)."

Along with other phases of mining , the ventilation of metal mines has been affected by the business depression of 1930. As might be expected , some of the results are favorable , and some are distinctly disadvantageous to progress . Probably the worst effect of the recession of mining activity is that , as usual , one of the first departments of almost any industrial establishment ( and this is especially true of mining ) to be curtailed is that which concerns what might be called welfare work , such as safety , health , etc. , and ventilation : in consequence , a number of men who were employed mainly on ventilation work in metal mines are now out of employment and their former duties either are being handled by others as only part of a crowded routine or are being allowed to lapse . On the bright side of the picture is the following paragraph from a letter by the ventilation and sarety engineer of the United Verde Copper Co. , Jerome , Ariz . , indicating that money and effort expended on ventilation during " flush " times give results which aid in money savings when depression comes : The desirability of absolute control over the ventilation system has again been demonstrated at this mine . Under full operation we have been using approximately 500 hp . to drive our big fan . Under curtailed operations we naturally do not require as much air , so by sending the air only where needed and airing out all other places periodically to keep timber , etc. , in good condition we have been able to economize in the quantity of air required . The fan speed has been reduced and the power dropped to 300 hp . , thus effecting a material saving in the power bill , and still maintaining an efficient ventilating system . "

SINCE the inception of dredge mining, the attention of engineers and operators has been directed primarily toward mechanical improvements and refinements calculated to, reduce operating costs and to increase recoveries. The result has been to develop an efficient excavating and value-saving machine, which, in some instances, has an actual capacity of 15,000 cu yd. per day. Steel hulls and superstructures minimize the risk of destruction by fire and lengthen the life of the plant. Dredges now restore, to some extent, agricultural possibilities to mined ground. Large buckets, with correspondingly heavy parts, are able to handle heavy wash and massive boulders. Mechanical weaknesses have been strengthened. The use of manganese steel in bucket lines and tumblers permits the application too the bank of a digging force that can be withstood only by solid material, such as rock, cement or frozen ground. Various alloys of steel have been applied to certain duties and experiments in their heat treatment are still progressing. Haulage by tractor or truck is in common use. Discarded and worn steel parts are repaired or rebuilt by the use of the oxy-acetylene flame and the arc-welding machine. Gold and platinum saving is more efficient, although still subject to improvement. Dredging for tin ore is in successful operation. Crews are now highly specialized and experience has developed improved methods of work; particularly in the manipulation of dredges to build levees of tailings and to leave open waterways where desired. To sum up by the distribution of overhead expense over several units, ground under favorable conditions can now be dredge-mined for 5)2 c. per cu: yd., in spite of the increase in cost of supplies, power, and labor during, the past few years. Improvements in prospecting methods, however, have not kept pace with mechanical developments. Standard practices of ; testing ground today produce only wide approximations of values; although they obtain information concerning the character of the deposit and bedrock. This report describes an experimental program which we conducted on behalf of the U. S. Bureau of Mines, to select from currently available materials two novel systems of construction for air-restraining bulkheads to be used in control of radon-polluted air in underground uranium mines. The program included both laboratory and field tests, the latter conducted in a portion of an operating mine owned and operated by Union Carbide Corporation at LaSal, Utah. The test site was a worked-out, double entry stope having a Volume of about 2000 cubic meters, and was located immediately adjacent to an exhaust airway. The bulkheads were constructed of 15 cm x 1.5 cm timber uprights, 5 cm x 15 cm horizontal members supporting a close-fitted 13 mm plywood curtain-wall., which was covered with a low-permeability membrane to seal in the radon-polluted air. The two membrane materials selected for testing were chosen from a list of twenty-two potentially acceptable candidates using criteria such as strength, flammability, ease of application, adhesion, radon permeability, and elasticity. Thirteen of the candidates were tested in our laboratories for adhesion to plywood and to both wet and dry concrete (simulating wet and dry mine rock surfaces), and for their general physical properties, including radon permeability. The final selections made by the Technical Project Officer, and based on our recommendation, were a pre-formed ethylene propylene diene monomeric rubber (EPDM) membrane 1.12 mm thick, normally used as a roof sealant in industrial construction, and available from Carlisle Tire and Rubber Co., Division of Carlisle Corp., Carlisle, PA, and Aquafas 48-00, a water-based mastic used in a wide variety of commercial applications and available from H. B. Fuller Co., Foster Products Division, Spring House, PA. The EPDM membrane was applied as a single sheet, laminated (dry) between two layers of plywood, and the Aquafas was applied both by troweling and spraying onto a plywood surface. In the field test, radon concentrations were continuously measured before, after, and in the trapped air behind each bulkhead. Temperature, pressure, and velocity of the air in the adjacent airway were also measured and recorded continuously. Radon fluxes at the rock/air interface and through the bulkheads themselves were measured manually on a frequent basis. All continuously acquired raw data were recorded automatically on two USBM Data Aquisition Systems (DAS), and the raw data were converted into engineering units and recorded on magnetic disks by a specially programmed microcomputer that was interfaced with the DAS's. Relatively clean (i.e. low radon concentration) air was pumped into a point near the face of one test bulkhead from a location 170 meters away through vent bag. Several air curtains and two air-restraining bulkheads were erected in passageways adjacent to the test area in an effort to control both velocity and radon concentration of the air flowing past the bulkhead faces. An average concentration of approximately 500 pCi/liter at a flow of 550 m3/minute was attained as the background concentration against which leakage through the bulkheads was measured. The entire field test period extended from October, 1981 to March, 1982, a total of six months, and was subdivided into seven successive time periods: 1) site preparation 2) background measurements prior to bulkhead construction 3) passive restraint, with bulkheads in place and totally sealed 4) open bleeder period of natural convection ventilation in and out of the bulkheaded area through a 10 cm (diameter) opening, with connecting tubing; leading into an Exhaust airway 5) open bleeder period, having forced exhaust through a 1.0 cm opening using a servo-controlled fan 6) charcoal trapping period, using the servo-controlled fan to exhaust air through the charcoal traps, to test the effectiveness of such traps in removal of radon from the exhausted air 7) site decommissioning Each of the two systems tested, one incorporating the pro-formed EPDM-rubber membrane and the other utilizing Aquafas 48-00, was assessed for effectiveness in controlling radon-polluted air by observing the change in the radon concentration in the ventilation air flowing continuously over the surface of each bulkhead. The sensitivity of the observed measurements was limited by the volume flow-rate of the ventilation air and the radon concentration in that air. The data would indicate that the observed increments in radon concentration in the ventilation air moving across bulkheads B-l and B-2 were essentially zero within the limits of sensitivity of the measurements. Data from radon flux measurement taken both on the sealed ribs adjacent to the bulkheads and on the bulkheads themselves did not differ significantly from blank data.
