INTRODUCTION THE use of iron powder during the post-war conversion period has been increasing with great rapidity. This is particularly true in regard to the manufacture of molded mechanical parts such as bushings, gears, cams, small wheels, and the like. Many manufacturers have found it possible to replace machined cast iron and carbon steel with molded iron powder parts, and thereby can not only effect a savings in cost, but can produce a better product as well. As the field of application for iron powder parts widens, greater demands are made upon the powder supplier concerning quality and uniformity characteristics. The following are some of the most important properties parts fabricators desire in the iron powder they use: I. The powder should have high compressibility so that good density can be obtained without the use of excessive pressures. At the same time, it should show low die wear so that a large number of pieces can be produced from the die. This means that the powder must be of high purity and good softness or plasticity. 2. The powder should produce compacts of high green strength, so that unsintered parts can be handled without breakage or fraying of the edges. 3. The sintering properties should be good so that satisfactory strength is obtained in the sintered piece. 4. Compacts made from the powder should show small but, above all, uniform dimensional changes during the sintering operation so that accurate parts can be produced, and warping and other such bad effects eliminated. 5. The powder should have satisfactory flow properties for automatic molding. 6. It is very important that the powder be uniform in sieve analysis, compressibility, flow, purity, and other qualities, from container to container in any given lot and from shipment to shipment. 7. Price-The fabricators desire all these good properties, but in many instances still do not wish to pay a premium price. There has been considerable discussion as to the importance of price of the powder in relation to the cost of the finished product. It is true that in cases where certain special properties only procured by powder metallurgy are required, price is not a criterion. On the other hand, there have been a number of applications recently made which would not be commercially practical with a powder which commands a premium in price. Iron powder parts are compressed in automatic presses to definite size, shape, and density. The powder is compressed to a density figure dependent upon the function the part is to perform, as well as upon such important considerations as press capacity and die wear. Let’s start off with your assessment of the mining industry. Today, the status of the mining industry is stronger than it has been over the previous few years. While mining continues to be a major part of the world’s economic foundation, the industry is gaining strength due to rebounding metals and minerals prices. And now, with these rising prices and the changes the industry instituted during the years when mining-related commodities were selling at low prices, our stronger, more productive and internationally competitive industry should flourish. Mining remains an essential business and the industry is far ahead of the game when it comes to the trend of globalization as a key to sustained growth. Also, the industry continues to realize increased productivity through technological innovations. And an increasing number of countries are moving towards capitalism, which opens doors for exploration and mining within their borders. After looking at all of these factors, I believe that the mining industry will only continue to gain momentum in the future.

High titania slag is produced from the smelting of ilmenite. These slags contain approximately 85 per cent TiO2 and consist mainly of a M3O5 solid-solution phase. During cooling the slag can decrepitate to a fine particulate material, which decreases the value of the product. Based on X-ray diffraction analyses of the decrepitated slag after cooling, it was found that the M3O5 phase had almost disappeared. The disappearance of the M3O5 phase was linked to oxidation of the slag. A M6O11 phase formed in the decrepitated slag. It is postulated that decrepitation of high titania slag is caused by volume changes due to the oxidation of the M3O5 phase in the slag.

According to the U.S Department of Energy (DOE), mineral processing activities including comminution (size reduction) uses 4% of the world electrical energy consumption. Such numbers reinforce the need to invest in energy savings initiatives in order to produce more using less. ENERGY EFFICIENCY OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES IN MINING OPERATIONS In addition, DOE, in its Mining Industry Energy Bandwidth Study, has identified huge potential for energy savings for the coal, metals and mineral industries. Even knowing the overall causes of energy waste and some potential tools for remediation, mining companies may struggle to apply such tools and get the desired results due to the following reasons: ? Limited staff ? Lack of accurate economic and investment analysis to justify energy savings projects ? Lack of knowledge to identify low or no-cost savings opportunities ? Internal competition for resources According to the workforce and talent management experts, the Talent Strategy Advisors, the demand for mining engineers is expected to exceed supply by 30% by 2013. Mining personnel are likely to be burdened with increasing and varied workloads with limited training. This will result in the need for automated and simple tools to support energy efficiency activities. Mining engineers will simply not have the time and resources to create such tools, collect and analyze the data to make decisions, and track results.

An improved experimental procedure to measure contact angle has been consolidated with coal surface preparation involving polishing with abrasive paper, alumina powder, and a cloth, followed by ultrasonic and mechanical cleaning. Specifically, the captive-bubble measuring technique has been compared with the sessile-drop technique and the former has been recommended for the examination of the hydrophobic properties of coal surfaces. Results of the research program, which is currently under way, on the examination of the effect of the nature, amount, size, and distribution of mineral inclusions in coal, on its wettability are briefly reviewed.

The microstructure of explosion-bonded pairs of similar and dissimilar metals has been investigated by electron microscopy. A review of the specific problems encountered and the methods used for obtaining surface replicas and thin-film transmission specimens of the bond interface is given. The bond area is mainly characterized by continuous and practically diffusionless metallurgical bonding. The very large shear stresses induced along the collision front of the plates being joined causes extreme grain elongation and a symmetrical pattern of subgrains in the bonding direction. The bond zone is also characterized by a very high density of dislocations and pressure-induced twins. Localized heating occurring during the cladding process can result in partial re-crystallization or the formation of thin layers of molten material. The force of precisely controlled explosions causing a high-velocity impact between metal plates has been used for several years to achieve metallurgical bonding between an extremely wide variety of metals. This method essentially consists of accelerating a plate to high velocity toward a stationary plate by a detonating explosive. Since the restrictions to bonding are not those encountered with conventional nethods, it becomes possible to bond pairs of metals having widely different mechanical properties that are immiscible or form brittle intermetallic compounds. Many applications of such composite metals are found in the field of corrosion protection as well as numerous other fields; for example, explosion bonding is being applied for fabricating the materials used by the United States Mint in the new sandwich-type coins. The primary condition for establishing a metallurgical bond is that absolutely clean metal surfaces be brought together. Any metal exposed to the atmosphere is covered with oxides, adsorbed gases, and other contaminants; even a very forceful impact of two such surfaces is not sufficient for bonding. Cowan and Holtz-man,"' who reviewed the dynamics of colliding plates in detail, showed that in order to achieve a good bond the explosion conditions must be chosen in such a way that the plate collision velocity is less than the sonic velocity, in which case no oblique shock waves are attached to the collision front. A pressure wave is then generated ahead of the collision line, and the material forming the colliding surface of each of the plates flows forward and is ejected in the form of a spray, the so-called jet. The dynamic elastic limit of the metals must be exceeded so that there is sufficient plastic deformation. At the point where the jet formed by the junction of the inner surface layers of both plates separates from the combined plates, the material experi- ences a very high shearing strain and the pressure can reach several hundred kilobars. This process strongly influences the microstructure of the bond zone as will be seen later. Behind the collision front, uncontami-nated layers of internal material are brought together under high pressure and are thus metallurgically bonded. I) STRUCTURE OF EXPLOSION BONDS The different types of explosion bonds that can be obtained depend on the explosion conditions, and have been investigated by Cowan and Holtzman,1'2 Holtzman,3 Klein; Bahrani and crossland,' and Buck and Horn-bogen. The preferred kind for practical applications is the so-called wavy bond, typical examples of which are given in Fig. 1 showing light micrographs of various metal-to-metal interfaces. In forming this type-- of bond the collision energy is mainly expended in jetting, the formation of waves, and localized melting. Beyond the crest of the waves, eddy-shaped areas are observed in which the two metals are mixed in a complex pattern of streaks. Cowan and Holtzmanl first proposed that this wavy pattern is analogous to periodic eddy shedding in the flow of a viscous fluid around an obstacle (Von Karman's eddy street). The mass of metal ahead of the stagnation point, which is associated with the jet and has forward momentum, plays the role of an obstacle and the eddies created in the flow of solid metal around the stagnation point are preserved in the final clad specimen. This idea has been reviewed more recently by Klein4 and the variables involved in the wave formation have been discussed in some detail by Bahrani and crosslands and Buck and Hornbogen.6 Several studies of the structure of explosion bonds by light metallography have already been published.1-6 Aside from the waviness and the eddies which were mentioned above, the most striking characteristic of the area in the vicinity of the bond interface is a very considerable longitudinal grain deformation which appears to be strongest at the metal-to-metal boundary and dies out as one moves away from it. Large twins are often observed within the deformed grains, and molten areas are found in the center of the eddy-shaped structures situated beyond the crest of the waves. The large hydrostatic pressures and shear stresses occurring at the interface modify the mechanical and chemical properties of the bond zone. Increases in hardness in this area have been reported by various authors.396 The defects along the interface can also cause a local increase of the chemical reactivity and thus might be expected to boost the etching rate. However, the effects of this preferential etching cannot be observed by light microscopy due to its inherently limited resolution power. The same limitation precludes the observation of morphological features directly along the bond interface as well as the interface itself. Furthermore, no information can be gained by light-

The copper and zinc contents of herbarium specimens of 11 of the 12 Australian species of Polycarpaea were determined in order to establish background and anomalous values of potential use in biogeochemical prospecting.Cumulative frequency curves were used to establish appropriate threshold concentrations for six species including the "copper plant"' P spirostylis. Collection localities of Polycarpaea specimens with anomalous copper or copper-and-zinc values are under investigation.

The energy and climate protection policy of European Union (EU), and its Member States adopted in 2007 bridges security of supply, environmental protection and competitiveness. The objectives of the EU energy and environmental strategy cover the foreseeable period till 2020. It assumes all sources of energy will be needed. The objectives for renewable and improved efficiency are ambitious; it must be established if they are also realistic. Coal can continue to make valuable contribution to the security of supply and low price of electricity, only with technologies allowing for drastic reduction of the CO2 emitted of its combustion. The aimed at -20% reduction of green-house gases (GHG) of EU-27 by 2020 is an objective limited in time and content. Europe produces less than 15% of global CO2 and this will be reduced to 10% in 2030. Emissions Trading (ET) is to remain the central instrument for CO2 management, especially in the power sector. ET scheme (ETS) or other mechanisms need designing to create an incentive for investment in higher efficiency and technologies and to Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS). The ETS as the climate protection instrument of the EU can become a heavy burden (high fuel and electricity prices, less security of supply) or it can create a climate for modernization of fossil fuel power plants. The suggestion in this paper of fuel-specific benchmark system for CO2 allocation after 2012 can combine the emission levels to be reached with a strong drive to invest, the necessary investment security, transparency and the principle of proportionality. A Benchmark System as recommended by coal industry could adapt to the different circumstances in the long term and comply with EU energy and environmental policy objectives.

The design of semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill based comminution circuits for the treatment of competent ores, similar to those at Geita and Boddington, involves the same process of sample selection, test work, data analysis and data modelling/interpretation as that used for 'average' competency ores. However, over the past couple of years a number of issues have arisen that are common to the design of circuits for the comminution of 'highly' competent ores. The impact of these issues on project viability is generally more pronounced when treating hard ores than average to soft ores due to the greater impact on capital and operating costs. The issues encountered have included: standard test procedures have been modified; test equipment has worn or been damaged; different procedures yield different data and varying interpretation; and modelling and empirical calculations have been based on poor benchmarks, or used incorrectly in the case of JKSimMet, yielding misleading outcomes. The purpose of this paper is to present, discuss and clarify some of the issues associated with conducting test work and designing comminution circuits for the treatment of 'highly' competent ores in order to reduce thelevel of conflict arising from interpretation and application of test work data. Specifically, the issues associated with the bond crushing (impact) and rod work indices measurement, the various SAG mill specific energy tests, and the interpretation of the resulting data will be discussed in the context of case studies.

Rhenish lignite will continue to play an indispensible role in the energy mix of the German Federal Republic for a long time to come. The use of lignite for electricity generation, upgrading and, if necessary, as a raw material is geared to the long term. The holistic management of opencast mines underpinned by approval law in the long term and a stronger focus on man, the environment and nature contribute to the acceptance of the mines by the local population. The same is true of state-of-the-art lignite uses: as regards their operational flexibility, lignite-fired power plants are ideal partners for the expansion of renewables. It is along these lines that RWE is continuing its power plant renewal programme as planned. With a view to that which will be conceivable the day after tomorrow, RWE is researching future technologies today in order to meet objectives such as security of supply, profitability and environmental compatibility to the same extent in the long term. Another important contribution to acceptance is public transparency and communications as means to support approval procedures and the implementation of measures in all areas related to lignite mining and utilization.

The mining industry has searched for a message that will resonate with the public while focusing on the industry’s positive contributions to society. So far, environmental groups remain unconvinced and the public is still largely uninformed. In the authors’ opinion, a number of recent events and experiences have converged to help shape a more effective public communication on mining’s important role. This article presents a perspective on coal’s role in sustaining society by anchoring the message in a transparent way, including a material flow analysis, that links coal’s impacts across a range of social and environmental aspects. Past and continuing image problems In her 1994 paper, Nancy Bingham, with Caterpillar, outlined what the public thought about mining. Based on extensive interviews, the following results were found: • The public believed mining harms the environment. • The public believed mining harms people in nearby communities. • The public believed mining exploits workers. • The public believed mining has little personal benefit to the individual.

Paper presented at Mineralisation in the Caledonides, the Mike Gallagher memorial meeting held in Edinburgh, 27-28 June 1996. At Calliachar Burn, 14 steeply dipping quartz-sulphide veins, with and without gold, infill master joints that crosscut gently dipping metasediments and metabasics of the Pitlochry Schist Formation. The wallrock is extremely bleached and enriched in sericite, chlorite and carbonate. Gold grades vary from high with quartz-galena-pyrite to low with galena-chalcopyrite; the gold forms electrum inclusions smaller than 20 micrometres in pyrite or, rarely, arsenopyrite. At Urlar Burn, gold is present in small amounts in 4 quartz-galena-chalcopyrite veins. Although much of the mineralogy is similar to that at Calliachar, there are significant differences in Sb-, Te-, Bi- and Hg-bearing phases. Fluid inclusion data suggest mineralisation occurred over the range 320-140 degrees C, from fluids with significant CO2 and 2-13 wt% equiv. NaCl. Mantle-derived fluids appear to have been generated during the late Caledonian and focused by the Urlar Burn fault

The breakage and flow characteristics of quartz, ground as a minor constituent with calcite in a continuous wet ball mill, have been determined by carefully controlled grinding tests.A mathematical model, combining the simple functions which describe these characteristics, has been used to predict both steady state and non steady state results.The calculated results are compared with experimental data.

A 12 m-deep excavation has to be perfomed in the Shanghai soft clay to install an underground electric substation. This article was originally intended to study the behaviour of the wall, the excavation bottom and the surrounding ground during the excavation. Since the works are behind schedule, and the data referring to the excavations are not, therefore, available, the article is limited to a presentation of the analysis methods that we envisaged for the study of the behaviour of the excavation.

The projection of operating costs for mining, processing, and other site operating costs is an exercise which can be fraught with considerable peril. Not only are the physical characteristics of each mineral property unique, but a range of other factors will influence the consultant's approach to compiling cash flow estimates. This paper details some of the techniques used in estimating operating costs for use in order-of-magnitude cost studies and feasibility studies, and describes how to avoid common areas of difficulty. A series of examples relating to open pit gold mining and processing cost estimates illustrate these problems, and various corrective methods are described. The mining and treatment processes, and their associated cost elements, are followed in sequence of operation from on-going ore delineation through to disposal of the product. In addition the problem of assigning management, administration and overhead costs along with taxation allowances is addressed. Of critical importance is the application or possible misapplication of accrual procedures to the cost elements. In many cases such misapplication can introduce more pronounced errors with projects of short duration, such as the typical open pit/C.I.P. gold operation commenced in the last decade. The importance of providing verification of estimates depending upon the standard of the cost study is also investigated, and opinion is provided upon the minimum levels of verification necessary at various stages. Finally, the amalgamation of the various individual cost elements into a coherent whole is reviewed.

Comminution within rod mills has been investigated by use of a matrix analysis of breakage processes. A parameter, the number of breakage stages, has been introduced and comminution within all rod mills has been expressed in terms of the number of grinding stages and a function which describes the feed rate, mill diameter, and mill speed. The effect of variation in feed rate, feed sizing analysis and mill speed on the number of breakage stages is discussed, but no general relation is proposed because more study is needed.INTRODUCTIONRod mills are normally used as the first unit of multi-unit systems for the grinding of metalliferous ores and the cost of operating rod mills may be considerable. For both economic and metallurgical reasons, it is therefore necessary that the mills should be operated efficiently and that a knowledge of the mechanism of the size reduction process within rod mills should be as complete as possible. Industrial grinding machines used in the mineral processing industries are mostly of the tumbling mill type. These mills exist in various types: ball, rod, pebble, autogenous, and semi-autogenous. Balls and rods are traditionally media shapes used in the tumbling mills. In resent years, as an alternative to balls, grinding charges with various shapes are being used. Cylpebs are slightly tapered cylindrical grinding charges with length equaling diameter, and all the edges being radiused. Cylpebs of equal diameter and length have 50% greater surface area and 45% greater weight than balls of the same material. In addition, they have 9% higher bulk density than steel balls, or 12% higher bulk density than cast balls. An important advantage of cylpebs over balls is that cylpebs produce narrower granulometric distribution due to their shapes. However, some discrepancies were found in the literature regarding the milling performance of cylpebs in comparison with balls (Chi, 2004). In recent studies, Chi (2004) has provided detailed information on cylpebs and has compared these to balls in relation to media mass, size distribution, surface area, and input specific energy. Ipek (2006) has investigated the effects of cylpebs and balls with equal mass and surface area on the breakage rate of quartz, using cylpebs and balls separately. Similarly, Lameck and Moys (2006) have investigated the effects of balls and worn balls on breakage rate of material using worn balls as grinding environment. However, no study has attempted to investigate the effects of grinding environment other than balls on the brekage distribution. As indicated by Prasher (1987), the breakage distribution function is independent of the following variables in ball mills: hold-up (Mika et al., 1967; Kelsall et al. 1969), mill speed and ball load (Herbst and Fuerstenau, 1972), media load and ball density (Kelsall et al., 1973), mill diameter (Malghan and Fuerstenau, 1976), and powder charge (Shoji et al. 1980). The aim of the present paper is to compare the effects of cylpebs and balls on the breakage distribution function of quartz with respect to same mass and same surface area. BACKGROUND Comminution as a rate process is called kinetic approach. Studies on the kinetic approach are reviewed by Oner (2001). Oner states that grinding kinetics are based on studies by Kolmogorov in 1941 and that Robert (1950) is the first to suggest this approach. Later, Melzak, Loeveday, and Reid have improved the grinding kinetics equation; and, Austin and Lynch have conducted two basic studies on the analytical solutions of these equations. Considering the results of studies comparing the size reduction mechanisms, it has been accepted that breakage constitutes of two operations. These two basic operations, first defined by Epstein (1948), are those of selection of material for breakage and the distribution of breakage material to particle sizes smaller than the initial size (Lynch, 1977). Epstein defined the two operations as: ? Pn(y), the probability of breakage of a particle size in the nth step of the breakage process. ? F(x,y), the cumulative distributions by weight of particles of size x<y arising from the breakage of a unit mass of a size y. Probability of breakage is called a selection or a breakage-rate function (Si). Characteristics size distribution after breakage is called a breakage distribution or appearance function (Bi,j). Due to the difficulties in representing particle size distributions mathematically and constantly, the batch equation based on particle size fraction is suggested. Thus, as is the case in breakage distribution and specific rate of breakage, the breakage parameters were defined by batch grinding experiments conducted in laboratories (Oner, 2001). When effective breakage occurs in the mill, the breakage of material with single feed size fraction usually fits first order grinding kinetics and the specific rate of breakage values can be calculated through the slope of semi-log plot. The values of the breakage distributions are deduced from the size distributions at short grinding times where there is mainly size 1 material breaking and only small amount of smaller sizes to rebreak (Austin et. al., 1984). B values can be calculated by using BII. [ ] where j is the top size of the charge, Pi(t) is the cumulative percent undersize of i th size interval at the short grinding time which gives no more than about 30% broken out of the top size interval. Cumulative primary breakage distribution, Bi,j, is also defined in an empirical form by [ ] where xi is the top size and Bi,j is the weight fraction of primary breakage products. The parameters F, ? and ß define the size distribution of the material being ground. On plotting size versus Bi,j on log scale, the slope of the lower portion of the curve gives the value of ?, the slope of the upper portion of the curve gives the value of ß, and F is the intercept as in Fig.1. "As conventional, base or precious metal ores are being depleted worldwide, the mining industry is being faced with an increasing exploitation of arsenical sulfidic ores. Enargite is a common example. The downstream processing of these ores poses several problems ranging from high smelter penalties to finding economical and environmentally acceptable means of disposing of the arsenic. Several hydrometallurgical processes have been proposed for extracting arsenic from enargite concentrates, notably using alkaline sulphide leaching (ASL). However, few alternatives exist for removing the arsenic from solution and stabilizing it in an approach that is both economical and environmentally acceptable.Dundee Sustainable Technologies (“DST”) has developed a technology for the sequestration of arsenic by vitrification. Originally optimized to cost-effectively stabilize arsenic trioxide (As2O3), DST has shown that vitrification could be successfully extended to the stabilization of other arsenical products, such as calcium arsenate (Ca3(AsO4)2) and sodium arsenate (Na3AsO4). In this paper, the vitrification of arsenic in the context of an enargite leaching was newly explored and demonstrated successfully.Two processing routes are being proposed by DST for the removal of arsenic from enargite concentrates and their stabilization by vitrification. In one route, arsenic is extracted by ASL and is then precipitated under atmospheric conditions and with minimal use of reagents and time. The resulting precipitate is an unstable hydrated ferric arsenate (FeAsO4•2H2O) that is then vitrified in a non-dilutive method, significantly increasing the stability of arsenic and meeting the TCLP guideline. Unlike is required for scorodite, stabilization was successfully achieved without concern for the crystallinity of the precipitate."

The upper amphibolite-grade mctasediments of thc rinaroo area, North Queensland, form part of a regional aurcole to the large Tinaroo Batholith and are the stratigraphic equivalents of the Hodgkinson Formation of gencrally low metamorphic grade. There is no evidence of any lithological unconformity.The higher grade metasediments have a more complex deformation history than is typical for thc surrounding region and this may bc due to one or a combination of two factors; an additional strain componcnt associated wilh the intrusion of Ihe Tinaroo Batholith, or a more marked finite strain response to the overall regional stress field within hotter. more ductile rocks.Four deformational events can be characterized within Ihc Tinaroo Area. Close to Ihe Tinaroo Batholith D1 and D2, arc so strongly developed that they disrupl the continuily of Ihe original Iithological layering. In the aureole region, D1 is strongly overprinted and its original fabric intensity is obscured, but both D2 and D3 display a mappable decrease in intensity away from the granite margin. These three deformations occurred during Carboniferous or early Permian time. D4 is later and only patchily developed.The broad, moderate pressure metamorphic aureole surrounding the Tinaroo Batholith is a typical of the CairnsCooktown group of Permo-Carboniferous granitoids. which usually develop narrow, lower pressure contact aureoles. Two periods of metamorphism are distinguishable. The first reached peak temperatures somewhat greater than 520&#176;C, the second temperatures around 620-630&#176; C immediately adjacent to the granite contact.Several cale-silicate lenses containing scattered scheelite mineralization occur within the area. Scheelite appears to have crystallized at the same time as the cale-silicate minerals, its appearance coinciding with the intrusion of the Tinaroo Batholith. Unlike many &quot;skarn-type&quot; scheelite deposits, the scheelite-bearing cale-silicates are Fe-poor, with no positive correlation between total Fe and W.

The recently completed in-pit crushing and conveying project at Phelps Dodge&apos;s Morenci Mine is rated among the world&apos;s leading materials handling projects. The operation involves the crushing and transport of more than 109 kt/ d (120,000 stpd) of copper ore, using regenerative conveyors capable of providing more than 5.5 MW (7000 hp) of equivalent electrical energy. The Morenci Mine is located 330 km (200 miles) east of Phoenix, AZ. Phelps Dodge Corp. owns an 85% interest in the mine. The remaining 15% is owned by Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. and Sumitomo Corp. Copper has been continuously produced from the Morenci district since the late 1800s. Until 1989, run-of-mine ore was transported from active mining faces to the Morenci and Metcalf concentrators by truck and rail haulage. In that year, a system of in-pit, semi-portable crushing plants and overland conveyors was commissioned. This substantially reduced truck haulage and effectively eliminated rail haulage in the pit. The system used two semi-portable, in-pit crushing stations equipped with 60/89 gyratory crushers. The crushed ore from both plants reported to the first of two overland belt conveyors, arranged in series, for transport from the pit to a coarse ore stockpile. The system was "backed-up" by existing locomotive rail haulage.
