In recent years, coal beneficiation has gotten considerable attention. Selective oil agglomeration has been accepted as the best method to produce clean coal with a high removal of pyrite sulphur. In this study, spherical oil agglomeration of Datong coal fines was carried out using diesel oil as a bridging liquid. The oil agglomeration has a surface properties based on coal cleaning technique. The effects of fundamental parameters have been investigated including the concentration of bridging liquid, the size of coal particle, the solid content of slurry, the agitation time and rate, pH, surfactants on the agglomeration performance and various salts on the ash rejection and removal of pyrite of the agglomerated products. The optimum conditions of particle size, diesel concentration, solid content, agitation speed and time, pH and the dosage of active agent have been determined as less than 8µm, 20wt%, 1200r/min and 10 minutes, 7.5g/t and 100g/t, respectively. Under these conditions the ash content in the products can be achieved 1.5% below, the ash rejection was up to 92%. It has been observed that ionic strength of the aqueous medium affects the agglomeration performance. The precombustion coal cleaning process based on improved selective agglomeration results in high ash and pyrite sulphur removals. Over 80% removal of pyrite sulphur can be achieved from run-of-mine coals by offering a more cost-effective sulphur reduction solution rather than any other SO2 removal technology. In addition, the removal of pyrite sulphur is very necessary for not only the prevention of environmental pollution but also economical reasons.

Taknar polymetal (Cu-Zn-Au-Ag-Pb) deposit and concentration flotation plant are located in the northeast of Iran. The flotation feed contains Chalcopyrite, sphalerite and pyrite with 4, 4 and 8 percent respectively. Cu and Zn contents are 1.26 and 3.5 present. Pyrite decreases the quality of base metal concentrates and increases the amount of sulfur compounds produced in the base metal extraction processes. Therefore, depression of pyrite is essential in the concentration of base metal sulfides by flotation. For flotation tests, 4 mixed collector systems, MIBC (20g/t), lime and tow depression systems (sodium cyanide (60g/t)-zinc sulphate and dextrin (300g/t)-zinc sulphate) were used as collector, frother, pH regulator and pyrite-sphalerite depressants in the chalcopyrite flotation stage, respectively, and SIPX, MIBC, lime and copper sulphate (as activator) were used in sphalerite flotation from first stage tailings. The results have shown that, sodium cyanide is a suitable depressant for pyrite and sphalerite in the first stage of flotation. Compared to dextrin as depressant, chalcopyrite recovery was decreased approximately 1.83%. In addition, when sodium cyanide was used as pyrite depressant, copper sulphate consumption raised approximately 90 g/t for activation of sphalerite. From Environment and HSE points of view, dextrin is natural, biodegradable, and non-toxic while cyanide is very high toxic. "The triboelectric charge attributes of feldspar, quartz and wollastonite minerals, after contacting different triboecharging medium made of different materials, were considered. Their charge acquisitions by different size fractions of minerals were monitored and accordingly their energetic work function values were estimated. Moreover the separation behaviours of these minerals through the electric field of a laboratory free falling separator were determined and the effects of some chemical reagents on separation their separation characteristics were studied.Finally an attempt was made to translate the findings from single mineral systems to a complex silicate ore, containing quartz, feldspars, wollastonite and some other silicates. The results show favourable prospect to apply the triboelectric separation technique for beneficiation such a complex raw material."

The aim of the present paper is to review the current technologies for arsenic removal in the copper metallurgical industry, and to show the progress made with some promising emerging strategies, involving the pre-treatment of copper-arsenic concentrates by selective flotation or by alkaline leaching with Na2S-NaOH solutions. The advantages of alkaline leaching are the selective dissolution of arsenic and antimony, the high extraction yield, and the practically nil loss of copper, which remains in the clean copper concentrate as a CuS residue. Alkaline ?cured? ? a procedure similar to ?acid-cured? in conventional leaching ? improves arsenic extraction and reagent consumption, making this an interesting technology for the treatment of high As-Sb concentrates. In light of recent advances on the selective flotation of enargite and tennantite, the importance of redox conditions to control the flotation/depression of enargite-tennantite from copper sulfides has been well established. However, problems of selectivity must still be solved. Additionally, the limitation imposed in some cases by the need to recover the molybdenum by-product must be considered. The application of selective flotation to obtain a high-arsenic or ?dirty? concentrate and its sub-sequent treatment by the alkaline leaching process is suggested.

Froth flotation is a selective separation process and rarely used for beneficiation of limestone in the world as compared to other minerals and also mostly known conventional methods of up gradation of ROM including wobbling, selective mining, sorting, preblending etc. Limestone is mainly used in the manufacture of cement, steel and chemical industries. High grade limestone deposits are depleting day by day and the requirement of the industries have to be met by beneficiating the low grade limestone deposits in the world. And because of marginal quality of limestone, it cannot be directly used in cement industry. At ACC Madukkarai cement works, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, full fledged mineral beneficiation process is adopted to enhance the quality of low grade lime stone from 38-42 % CaO to 45-47 % CaO and silica reduced from 19-22 % to 11-13 % by use of oleic acid (commercial grade and vegetable origin) 0.38 kg/ton of limestone and caustic soda 0.05 kg/ton of limestone. "This work presents the small-scale mining cluster of kaolin in Rio Grande do Norte (RN) and Paraiba (PB), both Brazilian states, including the following information: number of companies, process flowcharts, production numbers, mineralogical (XRD) and chemical (XRF) composition, granulometric distribution (screen and laser granulometer) and image analysis (SEM). Some social indicators in the region of the RN and PB States are presented in association with these data. The number of companies and their flowsheet were obtained through in situ visits and sample collection for technological characterization. The comparative study of the different flowsheets for kaolin production in the world was done using the databases and presenting the state of the art of kaolin processing. The results indicated that the mean feed typically contains 35-39% kaolin with quartz, muscovite and kaolinite as main mineralogical components and SiO2 (65.83%), Al2O3 (21.19%), K2O (3.9%), and Fe2O3 (0,63%) as main chemical constituents. The products of mineral processing are twofold, one between 74 µm and 37 µm, and the other smaller than 37 µm. The wastes of operation had major quantities of kaolin. The average Human Development Index (HDI) of the cluster region is approximately of 0.61, which shows an association between mineral processing plant and social indicators. The kaolin recovery, however, is between 30-55% for the three most common types of flowsheets that are currently used in the small kaolin mining cluster, indicating a need for technological improvement to achieve regional development. These data could be used incrementally to adapt the process plant currently used in the small-scale mining cluster of kaolin."

It is difficult to separate scheelite especially from fluorite with fatty acid collectors because the adsorption mechanism of these collectors occurs through chemisorption of the oleate ion onto the mineral surface. A simplified flotation process using Pb-BHA complexes was developed to replace the energy-inefficient Petrov’s process of using a fatty acid, increasing the recovery of scheelite and reducing the cost. The relationship between surface chemical properties (crystal chemistry, solubility, and Zeta potential) of minerals and flotation by using a fatty acid or Pb-BHA complexes was studied in detail to provide new insights into the selective separation mechanism. The results indicate that the scheelite surface exposes more O atoms than Ca and that they are negatively charged due to the anisometric dissolution of Ca and WO4, which provides the possibility for separation using selective interfacial reaction. The FTIR and Zeta potential results indicate that both chemical and electrostatic adsorption play an important role in the adsorption of Pb-BHA complexes on the scheelite surface. The XPS results of the atomic composition and binding energies confirmed the presence of the adsorbed Pb-BHA complexes and that O and Ca may be the active adsorption sites. Therefore, scheelite was able to be collected by forming either a Ca-O-Pbcollector or W-O-Pb-collector (BHA). However, fluorite was only able to be collected by a fatty acid collector and colloidal [H2SiO3]n -, and a high temperature was needed improve the selective desorption of the adsorbed fatty acid collector by forming Ca-[H2SiO3]n - on the fluorite surface, resulting in serious problems in industry. However, the Pb-BHA complexes significantly contribute to improving the recovery of scheelite minerals, simplifying the flotation process, and circulation of the residual reagents and water. The new process has been applied in Shizhuyuan Mine, and improved the recovery by almost 10%.

In order to evaluate the flotation process, the process flow sheet was investigated. The process mineralogy of main products was studied. Through chemical mineralogical and screening analysis as well as surveying using a microscope and scanning electro-microscope, the oxidation degree and mineral composition of main-products the liberation of main minerals, the occurrence of elements such as Pb, Zn were revealed. It is pointed that to determine the flotation process, the type of prod-ucts optimum grind of original ore and middling was provided on the basis of liberation of main minerals is reliable. As correct finer ground original ore, first high-grade lead-concentrates and zinc-concentrates fast was floated from a great part of free of the galena and sphalerite of liberated. Then for finely re-ground middling of locked mineral grains of difficult liberation, mixing lead-zinc-concentrates second was floated. The four products was best in contact with characteristic of ore of Fan Kou. Therefore be obtained certain to successful economic effect.

In this paper two optional production processes are presented for reasonable utilization of primary sylvinite in Qinghai province, China. The two kinds of products as chlorine-free potash fertilizers; potassium sulphate or potassium magnesium sulphate can be obtained. In the course of potassium sulphate production, using primary sylvinite from Qinghai salt lake as raw material with impurities such as sodium chloride and insoluble in primary sylvinite, it must be prepared by flotation before being converted into potassium sulphate. This final product has found wide use in tobacco industry in China. However, in some cases Chinese farmers would rather buy the fertilizer of potassium magnesium sulphate than high quality of potassium sulphate. With flotation process which is a little different from above mentioned, the potassium magnesium sulphate fertilizer may be produced by washing one of the flotation concentrate presented as picromerite, while another concentrate containing potassium chloride is treated as by-product.

Comprehensive utilization of the copper associated with the complex lead and zinc sulphide ore is a recognized and difficult technical issue in ore dressing field. Qi Baoshan lead-zinc mine is a typical complex copper-lead-zinc polymetallic ore deposit and difficult to process. The application of the. traditional process is not able to make the substantive progress. According to its mineralogical characteristics, the association of copper minerals with lead minerals is very close, and their particle sizes are very fine, and the copper and lead minerals are partially oxidized. Based on the laboratory tests and comparison between different process flowsheets, preferential flotation of copper minerals, being suitable for this ore, was chosen to recover copper. The separation of copper from lead applies the following technology: regrinding middlings with cyclones to classify, which improves copper lead mineral liberation, and increases copper and lead recovery; using new high-efficient collector with good selectivity, which is able to float copper minerals; and non-toxic combined depressant which depresses lead minerals. The above technical innovation, optimizing the process flowsheet, overcoming the complex traditional process flow with high production cost, obtained good technical and economic indicator. The difficult technical problem of copper lead separation was solved smoothly. After successful performance of the bench-scale experiment, commercial-scale test was carried out. In industrial trial, a copper concentrate containing Cu18.60 %, Pb7.40 % and Zn2.50 % was obtained with copper recovery of 58.49%, lead concentrate quality improved largely. The process opened up an unique path for the comprehensive recovery of Cu from similar lead and zinc non-ferrous metals mineral to comprehensively recover copper.

Properties of natural mineral materials were used to produce micro-aggregate elements by bionic method, so its components and function could accord with living environment. Eco-mineral functional materials which can adjust, purify and optimize the microclimate were reviewed. The authors pointed out the multifunction, com-pounding, the compound characteristics and integration regularities of micro-aggregates. It was the first time in the world to put forward the ?gene? technique or ?material chip? technique of manufacturing function micro-aggregates and eco-function elementary materials. The results of this re-search supported by the national ?863? Hi-tech Project, mainly including the high-efficient air purifying mineral compound material indoor, the clay elementary antibacterial materials, the masonry cement/coating/putty/compound with preventing radon radiation, environmental friendly composite functional coatings, mosquito repellent and healthcare material and zeolite-based energy-saving composite materials, were introduced. Finally, the foreground of mineral materials in the field of future advanced eco-friendly materials was also discussed.

"In the most iron ore beneficiation plants, reverse flotation is the best method for removing silicate gangues from final iron ore concentrate. Many previous studies show, if the major portion of impurities include quartz minerals, the flotation process is simple, but if iron silicates are dominant, reverse flotation is so complicated and mostly not very effective. In this study which was performed on the Sangan iron ore concentrate, the performance using of reverse flotation and magnetic flotation separator for elimination of silicate gangues from the magnetic iron concentrate was investigated. The operational parameters for reverse flotation are considered as: collector and frother types and dosages and also modifiers. But for magnetic flotation separator parameters were magnetic field intensity as well as overflow and underflow water rates. Results showed that reverse flotation has not a significant effect on the elimination of impurities. Because of the silicate gangues of Sangan concentrate including a mixture of quartz and iron silicates (amphibole, pyroxene and feldspar), so downgrading of the SiO2 content for the flotation concentrate was rather low and only average reduces of 20.60% were possible. But the findings of using magnetic separator was more satisfactory. Results of the weight recovery, iron grade and also SiO2 and S grades of final concentrate were better with magnetic flotation device. So at the best and optimum condition, we could reduce 51.01% of the total silicate (SiO2~ 2.19%) along with 74.66% of sulfur content (S~ 0.076%) and concentrate weight and Fe recoveries of 92.04% and 94.51% respectively, final Fe grade of 68.73%.INTRODUCTION Chemical/traditional flotation is one of the most effective methods for separating valuable particles from waste minerals, which is used in most mineral processing industries. "Due to limited water resources in mineral processing plants, increasing the efficiency of iron tailing dewatering system in order to obtain more usable water is very important. In this research, flocculation process, as one of the best method for water recovery, was investigated by using one organic cationic and three anionic types of flocculants with different dosages (10, 20, 30 g/ton) and iron ore tailing slurry (8 % w/w solidity) in series of graduated cylinders and obtained results were compared. it is observed that for tailing sample, the anionic flocculants have a significant effect on the settling rate of solid particles compared to the cationic types. Furthermore, effects of temperature (10, 23 and 43 ºC) and pH (2, 7 and 12) on the rate of settlement and turbidity was studied by utilizing the best flocculant. Findings showed that by increasing the amount of flocculant dosage, sedimentation rate went up and turbidity decreased. Comparison the out-put data of tests indicated that at temperature 23 °C and pH=7, the best results for both of faster settling rate and producing more clear water were reached. It should be considered that lower temperature has a more negative effect on the sedimentation rate and overflow water quality. So it will be predicted that for cold seasons, the consumption of the flocculant powder would be higher than the moderate or warm seasons. Also, coagulation/flocculation was evaluated by applying organic cationic coagulant added to anionic flocculant in three different times. Different ratios of coagulant to flocculant was examined (70%:30%, 50%:50%, 30%:70%) as well. Overall, utilizing coagulant had desirable influence on sedimentation experiments and obtaining high quality water. 1- INTRODUCTION In mineral Factories, among the important processes, solid-liquid separation process due to limited resources of water is very important and operates on iron ore tailing in settling tank as thickener in order to gain clear water for preventing water loss and applying again in plant units (Ciftci and Serhat Isik, 2017). Iron ore tailing include inharmonious compounds of iron oxides, silicates and aluminum-silicates. The percentage of solid in the tailing usually changes between 5 and 10 percent (Dash et al., 2011). One of the major problem about dewatering of tailing in thickener is solid-liquid separation of slurries with high stability because of fine particles. It means that rate of sedimentation is very slow and recovered water quality is inappropriate. This issue can be solved to a large extent by factors such as pH control, ionic strength and flocculation/coagulation process which results in aggregation of particles so that settlement by gravity is happened (Dash et al., 2011)."

The molybdenum ores currently utilized in China are mostly molybdenum sulfide ores whereas oxidized molybdenum ores, being finely disseminated and difficult to process, have not been exploited and utilized effectively. In this article the beneficiation process of a molybdenum ore occurred in an oxidized ore zone was investigated in order to provide a new way for the development and utilization of the oxidized molybdenum ores in China. The molybdenum mineral in the ore was mainly wulfenite and the associated minerals included barite, limonite, quartz and small amount of cerusite. Limonite in the ore occurred in a crust and honeycomb-like colloidal state and composed the framework for the formation of the other minerals in the ore, which filled the pores in the framework. Wulfenite was mainly fine-grained and occurred in the fine porous crust and honeycomb-like framework. The finely disseminated ore structure made the separation and recovery of the molybdenum mineral in the ore very difficult. On the basis of the mineralogical study of the ore, experiments were conducted to compare the various mineral processing methods for the beneficiation of the ore, including single gravity concentration, single magnetic separation, single flotation, and a combination of high intensity magnetic separation and gravity concentration. The results indicated that with single gravity concentration a molybdenum concentrate containing 5.85 % Mo with a yield of 11.76 % and a Mo recovery of 43.5 % was produced. With single high intensity magnetic separation it was very hard to obtain a molybdenum concentrate product. With single flotation process a molybdenum concentrate containing 7.06 % Mo with a yield of 15.14 % and a Mo recovery of 62.63 % was produced. With a combination of high intensity magnetic separation and gravity concentration a molybdenum concentrate containing 6.46 % Mo with a yield of 11.81 % and a Mo recovery of 42.11 % was produced. In conclusion, compared to the other methods the flotation process can produce more reasonable technological and economical results and is the best process for the exploitation and utilization of the finely disseminated oxidized molybdenum ore.

"The environmental effects of the mining and mineral industry include destruction of natural habitats, changes in river regimes and water tables, and other serious ecological impacts. In this century, it is likely that water will become a critical resource, and in most countries the mining industry competes for a share of this resource. The Kyoto Protocol may at first seem only relevant to the coal mining and power industry, however, it should not be forgotten that the mining and mineral industry is a significant consumer of power. Therefore the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol by most developed countries and the introduction of a carbon credit trading scheme will impact on the industry by potentially increased costs in utilities and waste discharges. It is clear therefore that the mining industry faces many challenges in the coming years. The mining industry?s commitment to sustainable development needs to continue to evolve, in order to meet these challenges effectively. With the advent of globalisation of the industry, it is now an opportune time for the industry to gain international agreement on how they want the industry to achieve sustainability in future years; such a progressive approach is necessary, otherwise government will force the industry to change, which may not necessarily be the best outcome for the industry.INTRODUCTIONThe Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 was an opportunity for world leaders to assemble and discuss strategies and initiatives that provide for further industrial growth without adverse effects on the environment. The World Summit on Sustainable Development held last year in Johannesburg, South Africa, was an opportunity to evaluate those initiatives implemented over the past 10 years, and to set a new and sustainable direction for the future. It is clear that industrial and technology development will continue at a rapid pace in order to serve the needs of a growing world population, but it is essential that the course of this development is well planned, well executed, and that it is sustainable. In reality, while government officials and politicians continue to debate policy and international protocols, the environment continues to suffer and the effects of climate change and global-warming become more real each day."

"Mine tailings is one of the most important bulk industrial solid wastes, but its rate of comprehensive utilization is relatively low. Efficient separation, recovery and utilization of the valuable components is one focus of the comprehensive utilization of tailings. Beneficiation recovery of the valuable minerals is the most direct comprehensive utilization method for tailings. There are generally different kinds of nonmetallic minerals contained in the nonferrous metal mine tailings, which are secondary mineral resources waiting for further developing and recovery. Comprehensive utilization test studies on fluorite in tungsten beneficiation tailings and feldspar in molybdenum beneficiation tailings have been carried out by author and good test results are achieved. Some of the technologies developed in the test study have been applied in industrial productions, which have been working well. The economic, social and environmental benefits are remarkable. Our test studies and some production practices will be summarized and current situation and existing problems of comprehensive utilization for nonferrous metal mine tailings will also be discussed. Yuanjiacun iron ore located in Shanxi province of China has finely disseminated grain size and contains refractory iron-bearing silicate gangue minerals such as chlorite. Therefore, a large amount of secondary slime (the content of -10µm fraction was up to 32.92%) was produced inevitably in fine grinding process, and chlorite was also enriched in concentrate from the content of 4.3% to 14.8% after high intensity magnetic separation. These two characteristics result in the difficulty to deal with Yuanjiacun iron ore by flotation. In this test work, contrast tests between single reverse flotation and selective flocculation desliming-reverse flotation were conducted on Yuanjiacun iron ore. The test results show that after selective flocculation desliming, the iron grade of cationic reverse flotation concentrate increases by 6.15% and the recovery increases by 7.25%; the iron grade of anionic reverse flotation concentrate also increases by 2.15%. Furthermore, analyses of grain size composition and mineral composition were carried out on separation products, the results indicate that selective flocculation desliming plays a dual role of optimizing grain size composition of flotation feed and removing iron-bearing silicate gangue minerals (chlorite) effectively.

Different methods of utilizing refractory bauxite and disposing red mud are practiced throughout the world, but none of them are known to be environmentally innocuous due to the complexity and /or high cost, and none has been found to be feasible on an industrial scale. Under these conditions, the use of bioleaching process seems promising. The present study emphasizes on the isolation of native extremophiles from the source Indian bauxite and red mud, with their detailed cellular and physio-chemical, and biochemical characterization. These organisms were tested for their ability to thrive in physically or geochemically extreme conditions. The gram positive capsule rich mesophiles and thermophiles were tested for removal of gangue minerals from the bauxite and red mud samples. The structure-activity relationships for four thionocarbamate collectors are discussed in this pa-per. These collector classes are alkyl alkyl thionocarbamates, allyl alkyl thionocarbamates, acyl al-kyl thionocarbamates and alkoxylcarbonyl alkyl thionocarbamates. The main emphasis will be to highlight the differences between collectors and their affinities for copper and iron sulfide minerals on the basis of data on electronic-structure properties obtained by vacuum and solution density functional calculations, flotation experiments and analysis measurements. The mechanism of interaction of these collectors with sulfide minerals is also discussed with perturbation theory. The theoretical study results indicate that acyl alkyl thionocarbamates and alkoxylcarbonyl alkyl thionocarbamates have best performance in these agents as flotation collectors with improved collecting power for copper sulfide minerals and excellent selectivity against iron sulfide minerals, which are consistent with the experimental data reported in the literature.

2-hydroxy-3-naphthoy hydroxamic acid code name F203 is a good collector of cassiterite, 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoy hydroxamic acid code name ZJ-3. F203 and ZJ-3 are similar series of isomers. They have similar naphthye, and similar series of functional OH and ?CONHOH, but the seat of OH and ?CONHOH group are different, on the F203 is 2.3; on the ZJ-3 is 1.2, ortho position too. According to Isomeric principle ZJ-3 is a good collector of cassiterite slime too. Using ZJ-3 as collector flotation -10µm occupies 90%, grade 1.16% Sn cassiterite slime of Da Chang Chehe concentration plant, pass one coursing flotation, two cleaning and one scarenging flotation, and obtains grand 18.26% Sn, recovery 92.68% cassiterite concentrate. The result proves the Isomeric principle of flotation reagents is correct again. This principle may supply to synthetize new flotation reagents reference.
