"The PFK FeNi Smelter was re-commissioned by Solway Resources in 2002, ending a long period of economic decline in the adjacent town. In 2009 Hatch was retained to design, supply and install a custom furnace crucible that would accommodate a capacity increase from 34 MW to 40 MW and increase campaign life through binding and cooling technologies, as part of ongoing improvement efforts. The involvement of PFK personnel was critical to the successful integration of the new furnace technology with the existing process and operational practice. The furnace upgrade project was completed in 18 months during 2010 – 2011. Since start-up, the furnace has exceeded production expectations, operating successfully at 42 MW.INTRODUCTIONAfter ceasing operations in the 1990’s, the Pobuzhsky Ferronickel Combine (PFK), located in central Ukraine, was stripped of useful equipment and deteriorated while dormant. The surrounding town experienced a period of economic decline throughout the 1990’s. Solway Industries purchased the complex in 2002 and began a systematic incremental program to re-commission the smelter using both local expertise and specialists from other parts of the former Soviet Union. This led to the re-birth of PFK as a successful toll-smelting complex, and a renaissance for the surrounding economy.As part of the continuing improvement program, PFK approached Hatch in 2009 to study the possibility of a capacity expansion from 34 MW to 40 MW. It was decided, based on the results of the study, to design and install a custom furnace crucible integrating the unique PFK FeNi process with modern Hatch furnace technology. This novel approach had many benefits, including: maximum re-use of existing furnace components (off-gas, feed equipment and transformers), minimal impact on upstream and downstream equipment and building structure, and the retention of a familiar operating regime. The latter was a key factor in the success of the project, as it allowed the extensive operating expertise of the PFK staff to remain highly relevant to the upgraded furnace. This led to minimized capital investment, a rapid start-up and no significant operational challenges switching over to the new equipment incorporating Hatch furnace technology."

"ON NOVEMBER 15th, 1950, the Department of Mines and Technical Surveys announced the discovery of vermiculite near Perth, Ontario. The announcement followed nearly a month of study to determine so far as possible the potentialities of the deposit and quality of the material from surface indications. The mineral was identified by the writer in the field among samples submitted by Mr. Arthur Powers of Stanleyville or, September 22nd, 1950. Within a week of the announcement, mining rights to properties covering a major portion of the deposit had been acquired by commercial interests.Hitherto, Canada has had to import her entire requirements of vermiculite. Prospects of .a domestic supply gave promise of considerable benefit to many industries, particularly the building industry, and to the consumer public. Should the deposit •prove large enough there was also the possibility of exporting to centres in the United States.Field and laboratory studies were continued at the Mines Branch during the winter of 1950-51 as opportunity occurred. It is the purpose of this paper to describe the results of these •preliminary investigations, to attempt to present the Stanleyville occurrence in its proper perspective with regard to similar occurrences elsewhere, and to review the salient features of the vermiculite industry.Properties and UsesVermiculite is a hydrated magnesium aluminum silicate. In appearance it resembles mica, having the same micaceous cleavage, but it differs from that mineral in being very soft, pliable, and inelastic. Colours range from black through dark olive-green and brown to almost colourless."

A PROGRAMME of structure drilling was commenced in the Southern Alberta Plains in June, 1943, for the purpose of determining the geological structure of the underlying sediments. More than 270 holes have been drilled throughout an area of some 1,800 square miles or 1,000,000 acres (see Figure 1). The Southern Plains of Alberta are covered by a mantle of glacial drift,' at places exceeding 200 feet in thickness. Only where this mantle has been dissected by deep drainage channels is bed-rock exposed to any great extent. Along such channels, surface geological mapping can be conducted to ad- vantage. Accordingly, geological mapping was commenced _in 1942 and continued each season to the present. To supplement this information, a survey of the water wells was carried on in conjunction with the mapping. However, to obtain more positive and evenly distributed structural control throughout the area as a whole and to define more adequately structural trends indicated by the preliminary mapping, it was necessary to resort to the use of drills to penetrate the glacial mantle. Various types of light drills are commonly used for this purpose and provide geological information in the form of drill cuttings, cores, drilling time rates, etc. Correlation of information is generally obtained through comparison of cored sections, drill cuttings, micro-fossils, and drilling time rates. However, in this case the holes were electrologged and correlations were made chiefly by comparison of such logs. The data so obtained is plotted and portrayed in the form of structure contour maps on recognizable stratigraphic horizons and in the form of isopach maps of the recognizable stratigraphic intervals penetrated in the holes. This method had not been widely used in Alberta previously and the technique employed was necessarily developed after the project began.

"Potash ore is mainly processed using the method of cationic flotation. Potash ore deposits of the CIS, namely: at Upper Kama river, Gremyachinsk (Russia), Starobin (Belarus), Tubegatan (Uzbekistan) are characterized by relatively low KCl impregnation (1.0 – 1.5 mm) and contain up to 10% of waterinsoluble impurities (WII). Water-insoluble impurities are presented by aluminosilicate, silicate, carbonate (calcite, dolomite) minerals and anhydrite. In the process of milling the ore to a flotation size there are released and dispersed the insolubles impurities actively sorbing the cationic collector, i.e. aliphatic amines C16 – C22. In this regard there is carried out a preliminary desliming of the ore.Currently grinding the ore to a flotation size (1.5 mm or less) is carried out in rod mills along with forming of a large number of fine-grained ore fractions having the size under 0.25 mm, which results in the increased KCl losses with halite slime waste and reduction in the quality of finished product. There has been developed the technique for processing of potash ores with a high content of water-insoluble impurities (10 – 12%) containing, in different ratios, silicates, carbonates and anhydrite. The technology involves the use of the ore dry grinding to the flotation size and subsequent reagent activation of the processes for sludge removal and sylvite flotation.INTRODUCTIONCurrently there are being developed the potash ore deposits in the CIS countries, namely: at Upper Kama river and Gremyachinsk deposits (Russian Federation), Starobin deposit (Republic of Belarus) and Tubegatan deposit (Uzbekistan). Potash ores are a mixture of sylvite and halite and contain water-insoluble impurities of silicates, carbonates and anhydrite. The content of water-insoluble impurities (WII) reaches up to 10%, disseminated (impregnated) sylvite does not exceed 1.5 mm and in connection with that the ore is crushed to a particle size under 1.5 mm. Ore grinding is performed by wet process in rod mills with producing a significant amount of fine-grained mineral fractions and sludge, which are actively sorbing a cationic collector, i. e. primary aliphatic amines C16 - C22. The ground ore is deslimed and the slime product is directed to a sludge depot (pits)."

Introduction To The great majority of people, the term 'strip coal' has little or no meaning, or if it has any significance it is thought to refer to a poor grade of coal that had to be accepted during the war because no other fuel was available. Few people in the Province of Alberta realize the magnitude of our coal stripping industry, and fewer realize that strip coal has been available to domestic consumers for at least forty years. Among the first in the field of strip coal mining in Alberta were the Tofield Coal Company, Ltd., and Sterling Collieries Company Ltd. It was not until the advent of World War II, with its huge drain on industrial and domestic coal sup? plies produced by the underground mines, that some other source of coal was seriously sought. The tremendous shortage of manpower du ring this period of National emergency made it imperative that any increase in the coal production must be procured on a high tonnage per man-hour basis. It was therefore natural that the highly mechanized strip mine should be eagerly encouraged and subsidized by the Governmental agency - the Emergency Coal Production Board - under the very able direction of Mr. G. A. Vissac.

The question of geophysical prospecting is one that is beginning to occupy a pre-eminent place in the minds of those actively concerned in the discovery and exploitation of ore deposits. This is in marked contrast to the reception accorded such ideas when the Junior author, six and a half years ago, began introducing electrical prospectii1g to the mining fraternity on this continent. Happily, the mention of geophysics no longer evokes the sceptical and pitying smiles that it did in those days. A little reflection will show that modern geophysical methods are merely a logical development from pre-existing technique. In the study of geological problems, is it not logical to use all possible physical properties of matter? The study of crystal form and cleavage, the examination of thin sections of minerals by means of polarized light or ordinary light, in fact, utilize physical properties of minerals for the benefit of the geologist. These are, of course, laboratory methods, and the extension of the study of similar properties into field work was inevitable. This began with the magnetometric surveys, used as early as 1760 in New Jersey to locate iron ores. Eighty-four years later, John Locke's work in the United States resulted in pointing out relationships between the terrestrial magnetic field and main tectonic features of the earth's crust.

A current problem in gold production is the presence of copper minerals which dissolve during conventional cyanidation practice. The dissolved copper causes several problems in the different stages of the process. This issue is the base for copper elimination/recovery methods such as the Sulphidization, Acidification, Recycling, and Thickening (SART) process, which is currently used in gold production plants around the world. Even though the process is well established, new challenges appear as the composition of the solution varies from ore to ore, in some circumstances affecting the performance of the SART process. This work presents a thermodynamic study and experimental tests performed to understand the role of the initial copper concentration and sulfur addition, on the efficiency of the copper removal. For a constant cyanide concentration, an increase in the initial copper concentration causes a decrease in copper removal; high sulfur/copper molar ratios favor copper removal. We demonstrated that the cuprous sulfide formed from solutions with high ionic strength, presents better sedimentation rates than solutions with less ionic strength. For solutions with low sedimentation rates, the use of some pretreatment is necessary to facilitate the sedimentation such as addition of flocculants, particle recirculation and the used ultrasonic pretreatment.

An in situ water sampling device has been developed to measure biologically-available or “labile” metals in natural waters and effluents. The active mechanism involves the use of a polyacrylamide gel layer to quantitatively control metal transfer to a trace-metal-adsorbing, gel-imbedded resin. Because the resin only adsorbs free metal ions (the gel sampler methodology is a kinetic speciation technique), and because metal bioavailability is related to the free-ion activity, the device provides a direct measure of the biological-availability of metals in the environment sampled. The prototype consists of a layer of ion-permeable polyacrylamide gel which separates the solution to be sampled from an ion exchange resin. Because approximately 90% of the polyacrylamide gel is water, mass transport through the gel is diffusion-controlled, and is therefore well defined. Metal ions are rapidly bound by the resin, creating a steep concentration gradient in the gel. The amount of labile trace metal that accumulates on the resin can be related directly to the concentration of the metal in solution, the exposure time and the molecular diffusion coefficient of the labile species. In addition, the passive nature of this device affords it the potential to address many of the limitations presented by conventional sampling methods, such as sample contamination introduced during collection or filtration and changes in trace metal speciation prior to analysis. Laboratory studies and limited field trials indicate that the sampler behaves as anticipated and illustrate that biologically- available metal concentrations in many environments are a small fraction of the total concentrations and often significantly less than the dissolved concentration. The implications of this on regulatory criteria are discussed. Additional field trials and correlation with bioassays are currently underway.

"The Adams Mine of Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation is situated on the Boston Township iron range near Kirkland Lake, Ontario. Eight different orebodies have been outlined, with a total open-pit crude tonnage of. about 100,000,000 tons or the equivalent of 30,000,000 tons of concentrate. The ore consists of fine-grained, well-bedded Early Precambrian iron-formation composed essentially of alternating layers of chert and magnetite. Grade averages about 22 per cent magnetic Fe.The iron range varies in width from 3,000 to 4,000 feet and is made up of several horizons of iron-formation, cherty ""quartzite"" and volcanic rocks. The latter consist mostly of basic lava flows and minor amounts of tuff. Dips are rarely Jess than 50 degrees, and the range is believed to represent an overturned limb of a major synclinal structure. Dykes of syenite and lam prophyre, along with local younger diabase, intrude the rocks of the iron range."

"The Gem molybdenum prospect is situated at the head-waters of Clear creek, between the Fraser river and Harrison lake, about 30 miles north of• Harrison Hot Springs, B.C. Clear creek follows a deeply eroded fault zone southwesterly through the center of the claim group. Elevations range from 2,000 feet in the creek bed up the steep slopes flanking the creek to a height of 5,500 feet. The property lies within an area underlain by schists and gneisses which strike from north to west in a broad fold plunging steeply to the northeast. This metamorphic complex has been invaded by numerous bodies of grano-diorite, much of which is gneissic. A granite plug, roughly 2,400 by 4,000 feet in size, has intruded this broad fold just west of Clear creek and encloses a circular breccia pipe 1,500 feet in diameter. In the breccia pipe, fragments of metamorphic rocks, granite and quartz monzonite porphyry are firmly cemented in a matrix of quartz monzonite porphyry. All the above rocks are cut by numerous fractures filled by vuggy quartz veins, many of which contain molybdenite. Attentien was first drawn to the area by a quartz vein, 18 inches in width, known as the Gem vein, which consists of several laminated bands of quartz and molybdenite. Since 1964, exploration efforts have been directed toward attempting to outline a large, low-grade type of molybdenum deposit."

"1N 1951, the Dominion Steel and Coal Corporation, as part of a programme of modernization in their coal mining operations at Sydney Mines and Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, undertook the development of two large cross-measure tunnels, which were to be used for the purpose of raising the coal from the underground workings by conveyor belts direct to wash plants located on the surface.These tunnels were to reach from the surface to central loading points underground located at a depth of 600 and 900 feet, respectively. They were to be driven on a pitching gradient of 11 degrees to the horizontal, and they were to reach a length of 3,600 feet in the Sydney Mines area and 10,000 feet in the Glace Bay area.The longer tunnel, 19 feet in diameter, was driven a distance of 1,500 feet and, for domestic reasons, bas not yet been •completed. The other tunnel, in the Sydney Mines area, 18 feet in diameter, is steel supported and concreted throughout its entire length. This tunnel has been completed and will be in operation at an early date.The development of this particutar tunnel posed an additional problem, as the rock through which it had to pass was considered to be water-bearing. In the sinking of Princess Colliery shafts in 1866, a great deal of water had been encountered, and it had been necessary, while sinking, to line the shaft with cast-iron tubbing through the water-bearing strata. The shaft had to be lined for a depth of 300 feet at the upper end. It was anticipated that we would meet with difficulty in driving the tunnel through this strata."

THE PROPERTY of the Lamaque Mining Company, Limited, ?is located in the Town of Bourlamaque, seventy miles east of Noranda, in Bourlamaque township, Abitrbi county, north western Quebec. Gold production commenced at Lamaque in April, 1935, with an initial mill capacity of 250 tons per day. The capacity was doubled in November of the same year, and in December, 1937, it further increased to 1,200 tons per day. During the war years the mill operated at a reduced tonnage, but in 1951 milling units were added along with complementary crushing and shop facilities to bring the capacity to 1,500 tons per day. Finally, in 1953, the capacity was raised to 2,000 tons per day, which rate is being maintained at the present time. The total production at Lamaque from April 2nd, 1935, to December 31st, 1956, has been 9,168,901 tons of ore from which 2,208,168 ounces of gold was recovered. The total value of this production , excluding E.G. M.À.*, was $77,869,653.

ACCIDENT-PREVENTION work in years gone by has been carried on by many mine managers as a philanthropic movement, but in recent years they have come to realise that Safety is good business and pays tangible dividends. Let us begin with the word itself. We are told that an accident is "any-thing occurring unexpectedly, undesignedly, or without known or assign-able cause'. It is further explained that it is any 'unpleasant or unfortunate occurrence involving injury, loss, suffering, or death", and, finally, "any unintentional or non-essential circumstance". We admit that accidents are unfortunate, unpleasant, unintentional, and they generally happen undesignedly and to a great degree unexpectedly, but to say that they happen "without known or assignable cause" leads us to believe that the word 'accident' is often misused. Would it not be more correct to say that a man suffered a "personal injury"? The word 'accident' in its proper sense implies something over which no one has any control, but when the majority of all so-called accidents are analysed we arrive at the incontestible fact that some act or action, previous or present, was the underlying cause. As long ago as the year 1556 this fact was mentioned by Georgius Agricola, who, in writing a paper on metallurgy, aptly stated, "It remains for me to speak on the ailments and accidents of mines, and of the methods by which they can guard against these, for we should always devote more care to maintaining our health, that we may freely perform the functions of our body, than to making profits". Farther on, Agricola relates in more detail, "Sometimes workmen slipping from ladders into the shafts break their arms, legs, or necks, or fall into the sumps and are drowned; often, indeed, the negligence of the foreman is to blame, for it is his special work both to fix the ladder so firmly to the timbers that they cannot break away, and to cover so securely with planks the sumps at the bottom of the shafts, that the planks cannot be moved nor the men fall into the water; wherefore the foreman must carefully execute his own work. Moreover, he must not set the entrance of the shaft-house toward the north wind, lest in winter the ladders freeze with cold, for when this happens the man's hands become stiff and slipping with cold, and cannot perform their office of holding. The men, too, must be careful that, even if none of these things happen, they do not fall from their own carelessness'.

"The Poplar Mountain gold occurrence in western New Brunswick is hosted in the Poplar Mountain volcanic complex (PMVC), which is located along the southern segment of the regional Woodstock fault zone. The PMVC consists of three principal units including, in ascending order, a porphyritic felsic volcanic unit, a volcaniclastic unit, and a mafic volcanic unit. U-Pb dating of zircon indicates that the age of the volcanic rocks is younger than 459 ± 3 Ma, and 40Ar/39Ar dating of mineralization-associated sericite indicates that the age of mineralization is 411 ± 3.7 Ma. Gold-mineralized zones occur in all the lithologic units but mainly in the porphyritic felsic volcanic unit. Gold zones are not controlled by individual faults but are characterized by high-density brittle fracturing, thin carbonate-quartz veining, and intensive ankerite-sericite alteration, superimposed on an earlier chlorite-calcite- quartz alteration. Gold is associated with arsenopyrite, which mostly occurs as disseminations in the host rocks, and to a lesser extent with quartz-carbonate-sericite veins and quartz-cemented breccias.Geochemical data indicate that mineralization-associated alteration is characterized by enrichment of K, Rb, Cs, Ca, Sr, Ba, As, Sb, W, C, and S. Fluid inclusion data indicate that the mineralizing fluids are composed of H2O, salts, and CO2 with variable amounts of N2 and CH4; salinities range from 2.3 to 10.6 eq. wt.% NaCl, but mainly from 2.3 to 5.6 eq. wt.% NaCl, and homogenization temperatures lie mainly between 220° and 270°C. Fluid pressures at the site of mineralization are estimated to have been 770 to 1200 bars, corresponding to a depth of 2.9 to 4.6 km at lithostatic pressure. The d18OSMOW and d13CPDB values of mineralization-related ankerite range from +14.5‰ to +16.5‰, and -6.8‰ to -8.3‰, respectively. The d18O values of the ore-forming fluids are estimated to be 6.4‰ to 8.3‰ at a temperature of 250°C. These carbon and oxygen isotope data fall in the field of magmatic fluids and in part the field of metamorphic fluids.Considering the geological setting of the region, abundant granitic intrusions, the similarity between the age of mineralization (411 ± 3.7 Ma) and the nearby Pokiok batholith (402-415 Ma), and the enrichment of granophile elements in mineralization-related alteration, the ore-forming fluids were probably derived from a granitic intrusion underneath the PMVC. These fluids were focused along structures related to the Woodstock fault. The Poplar Mountain gold occurrence might be compared to some granitic intrusion-related gold systems based on the geochemical data presented herein. La datation U-Pb de zircons indique que les roches volcaniques sont plus jeunes que 459 ± 3 Ma, et la datation par la méthode 40Ar/39Ar de séricite associée à la minéralisation assigne à la minéralisation un age de 411 ± 3.7 Ma. Bien que les zones minéralisées en or soient présentes dans toutes les unités lithologiques, on les retrouve surtout dans l’unité felsique porphyrique. Les zones aurifères ne sont pas contrôlées par des failles individuelles mais sont caractérisées par une grande densité de fractures cassantes, de minces veines de quartz-carbonate, et par une altération en ankérite-séricite intense qui se superpose à une altération antérieure en chlorite-calcite-quartz. From the view point of the mining engineer, the square-set method of stoping as practised at Butte, Montana, is one ?of the outstanding features of well conducted mining operations in that camp. The following information was obtained in the course of two months underground work in the Granite Mountain mine, during the summer of 1920, which is one of the properties of the North Butte Mining Company, situated on the well known Speculator vein. Most of the information was derived from personal observation and from discussions with various miners and with members of the staff. Geology The copper mining area of the Butte district is some two miles long by one and a half miles wide, a mineralized area in a great batholith of monzonite granite, locally known as the Boulder batholith. This extensive body of granite is traversed by several series of mineralized fault-fissures which differ in strike but generally dip steeply. Geologists agree that following the formation of the fissures, alkaline solutions ascended and decomposed the felspathic portions of the granite in the immediate vicinity of the fissure walls, and that these alkaline solutions were followed by cupiferous solutions which filled the fissures and replaced the granite next to the walls. A zone of oxidized ore, varying in thickness from 10 to 400 feet, overlies a sulphide zone containing chalcocite, enargite, bornite and chalcopyrite, with a small amount of quartz gangue. The veins are from 3 to 100 feet in width and contain, on the average, 3 per cent of copper, 2 ounces of silver, and 15 cents in gold per ton.

ABSTRACT The inevitable uncertainty in modelling spatial variables decreases as more data become available. This reduction depends on the properties of the variable being modelled. Spatially continuous variables show less uncertainty for a given spacing than erratic variables. A geostatistical simulation based approach is developed to quantify the relationship between uncertainty and data spacing. Reference realizations are sampled to condition additional realizations and quantify uncertainty. The procedure is automated, making it straightforward to consider sensitivity and different geological domains. "Since its startup in 1975, the Rabbit Lake mill has been modified (0 process both increased tonnage and higher grade ore. Ore initially came from the Rabbit Lake pit . In 1985, a major mill expansion was commissioned to allow treatment of B-zone pit ore, which is mineralogically and metallurgically different fromRabbit Lake pit ore.Mill modifications, and the changing ore characteristics and processing targets which made them necessary, are described. Mill LocationThe mill complex, shown in Figure I, comprised of milling facilities, acid plant, power generation , warehouse and administration offices, is located approximately 1.5 Ian south of the Rabbit Lake pit, and about 8 Ian southwest of the B-zone open pit mine.Original Milling CircuitOre feed to the mill commenced June 10, 1975. The mill was designed to process 1500 tonnes per day , 483 000 tonnes per year with an average grade of O.44OJo Ups and an annual production of 2000 tonnes UPs' Run-of-mine ore was dumped directly onto a 60 em square opening grizzly. Oversize was broken with an Ingersoll-Rand hydrauli c rock breaker. Minus 60 cm ore was fed to a 6 m diameter by 1.8 m long Hardinge semi-autogenous (SAG) grate discharge mill. Mill discharge was screened over a Tyler double-deck vibrating screen, with screen oversize returned to the SAG mill feed chute via conveyor belt. Screen undersize (minus 2.4 mm) was pumped to 51 cm diameter Krebs cyclones in closed circuit with the SAG mill. Cyclone overflow (about 50% minus 74 micron) was thickened to 55% solids in a 30 m diameter neutral thickener .Thickened pulp was stored in two mechanically-agitated wood stave tanks (5.5 m diameter by 6 m high), to which sulphuric acid was added to obtain a pH range of 1.5 to 2.0. The fmalleaching was carried out in five more identical tanks. Sulphuric acid and sodium chlorate were used to maintain a pH of 1.5 and a terminal emf of -450 to -500 mV. Steam sparge was utilized to obtain a temperature of 45°C."

"Virtual reality, a 3D computer-generated environment, has become a recognized delivery system for many forms of education. This paper describes the application of virtual reality to mineral processing education. An interactive mineral processing visualization module developed at the University of New South Wales, Australia, provides users with an overview of a base-metal concentrator and details about how the mined ore progresses through stages in processing. The module also involves developing instructional based plant layouts and flowsheets in the virtual environment. These assist the user in understanding the essential components of the base-metal concentrator.RÉSUMÉ La réalité virtuelle (RV), un environnement en 3D généré par ordinateur, est devenue un système de prestation reconnu pour diverses formes d’éducation. The simulated environment is achieved through technologies such as 3D graphics, audio feedback, and special peripheral devices to produce interactive environments.Virtual reality has been used in diverse fields including medicine (Riener & Harder, 2012), entertainment (Hsu, 2011), military (Manojlovich, Prasithsangaree, Hughes, Chen, & Lewis, 2003), manufacturing (Zimmermann, 2008; Jiang, 2011), and chemical processing (Squires, Andersen, Reklaitis, Jayakumar, & Carmichael, 1992; Schofield, Lester, & Wilson, 2005). Virtual reality is also becoming the recognized delivery system for education in many fields, including engineering (Bell & Fogler, 1996, 1998; Shin, 2002). For example, VR laboratories have been designed and developed to teach users fundamental features of heterogeneous catalytic mechanisms and absorption columns (Bell & Fogler, 1995), the multi-phase and multi-component blast furnace iron-making process (Babich & Senk, 2009), and to guide users to identify various safety measures while working in a real laboratory (Bell & Fogler, 1996)."
