La estrategia de la investigación es tratar de separar extractivamente el cobre del oro, por lo que se efectúan pruebas de flotación para las especies de cobre sin encontrar éxito. Así se utiliza la alternativa de lixiviación ácida de cobre y posterior cianuración del oro contenido en el relave."

This paper details a 2MLD ion exchange water treatment plant which selectively removes arsenic, antimony, iron, hardness, and sulphate from mining water; designed to meet environmental quality indicators such as sulphates. The client, Fosterville Gold Mine Pty Ltd, is owned by Kirkland Lake Gold and is one of the world’s highest grade gold mines. The site located near Melbourne, Australia had identified a risk of reduced mine water storage capacity due to surface run-off and increased sulphate rich dewatering of the underground mine at depth. Clean TeQ Water carried out the project management, process design, procurement, and commissioning for the plant, which was handed over in August 2020.

One of the important decisions in the development of new mining concentrator projects is the electric power supply for the project. Key decision factors often include the production of power on site versus purchase of power from the grid, ownership of the power supply infrastructure and the choice of generation technology. In this sense, the paper introduce a methodology that will allow the evaluation of the various alternatives to supply electric power to remote mining and mineral processing sites in a consistent and equitable manner taking into account economic and technical considerations and providing the same degree of availability and reliability. The most employed evaluation method consists of carrying out trade-off studies between the various alternatives but care should be exercised so that the alternatives analyzed offer comparable operational results.

The paper point out the styles of Pacific Rim epithermal gold mineralization. Some characteristics of differing styles of epithermal gold mineralization influence investment decisions (metallurgy, metal ratios, mining style), while others should be taken into account during prospecting (pyrite content and resistivity govern geophysical techniques, vein/breccia styles control drilling, gold distribution influences ore reserve determinations). Two groups of epithermal deposits are distinguished by the fluid style which controls ore and gangue mineralogy. High sulfidation systems develop from the reaction of hot acidic magmatic fluids with host rocks to produce characteristic zoned alteration and later sulfide (dominantly enargite-pyrite) and Au-Ag-Cu deposition. Ore systems display permeably controls governed by lithology, structure and breccias, typically phreatomagmatic breccia pipes, and should be distinguished from a group of generally non-economic acidic alteration including: steam heated alteration, lithocaps or barren shoulders, acid sulfate, and magmatic solfatara alteration.

La intención del trabajo reportado en este artículo es la de superar las limitaciones que conlleva no trabajar con modelamiento previo, base de datos y un enfoque sistémico. En atención a esta idea, el estudio desarrolló un software para dos circuitos (directo e integral). Como resultado, se recomienda desarrollar un software integral de toda la planta concentradora —chancado, molienda, flotación y eliminación de agua— con diferentes tipos de circuito, en un solo sistema (enfoque holístico); además de migrar a un modelo de servicio en la nube, con el objeto de poder contar con completa disponibilidad.

It is possible that Airborne Induced Polarization, one of the stillelusive systems, will make its debut in the next few years. "El presente texto señala la evolución de los modelos genéticos de geología económica del yacimiento minero Tres Cruces. Dicho yacimiento se encuentra localizado en el noreste del Perú, adyacente al distrito minero de Quiruvilca. A partir del año 1995 se le reconoció como el mayor productor de oro a través de un programa de exploración en la Formación volcánica Calipuy. Posteriormente, el yacimiento fue visitado por variosgeólogos que postularon diferentes modelos genéticos del yacimiento para así estimar su potencial económico -en tanto se incrementaron los datos geológicos del yacimiento. Por ello, el texto presenta el modelo genético de Tres Cruces, como el más adecuado, aunque la evaluación de su potencial econornica está aún en progreso."

"The paper point out the volcanogene and sediment-hosted base metal deposit from the Colombian cordilleras have been considered in the light of tectonogenic models for these deposit types, based upon the recent re-interpretation of the geology and tectonic assembly of the Northern Andean Block by Cediel and Cáceres and Cediel. Numerous distinct propitious metallogenic settings containing important but subexploredbase metal mineralisation are manifest as a result of the tectonic evolution of this northern-most sector of the Andes. Some examples include like a) Central African Cu (U) Belt - type mineralisation within the back-arc region of the early– middle Paleozoic Cordillerantype Quetame Orogeny, b) numerous SEDEX and Sediment-Hosted Zn (Pb-Ag) and Cu (Ag) styles of mineralisation associated with various phases of continental and continental margin rifting during the late Paleozoic to Mesozoic Bolívar Aulacogen, and c) various Cu-Zn-Pb (Au, Ag) Volcanogene Massive Sulphide manifestations associated with intra-oceanic magmatic arc development and accretionary tectonics during the Meso-Cenozoic Northern Andean Orogeny. The paper point out some reasons why contract mining should not achieve the same success in Latin America as it has in Australia. In this sense, any reasons are: the size of operation, mining industry employees bonus scheme, the privatization of nationalized mining assets, general sales tax and the mining unions. Therefore, great deal depends on the attitude or "mindset" of a company's employees. lt is strongly my view that the attitude with which a contractor approaches a job will give rise to a superior mindset amongst its employees when comparad to those from most mining companies. The value of this cultural difference is significant and should never be underestimated. lmportantly, it doesnot only manifest itself in a more productive workplace: it is invariably the case in Australia that the safety achievements of contract miners are superior to those generally expected from the mining industry at large.

El presente texto revisa los métodos utilizados en las minas de tajo de abierto como son la perforación, disparo y seguridad y así mejorar los standars y el rendimiento futuro en la industria minera. Respecto al primer método empleado, se analizan los factores que afectan el rendimiento de brocas y cómo dicho factores varían, impidiendo la adaptación de prácticas universales de perforación. Asu vez, estos mismos permiten seleccionar el tipo de broca adecuado y mejorar el máximo rendimiento del mismo. En cuanto la voladura y los explosivos, se revisan las variables fundamentales que ejercen una influencia sobre el resultado de un disparo y así realizar un estudio comparativo de los agentes explosivos en uso, tratando de interpretar el mecanismo de la explosión y a la vez aplicarlo a las diferentes formaciones presentes en Cerro. Finalmente, se describe la organización del sistema de seguridad y las obligaciones de este comité en la industria minera.

The Lepanto and Victoria epithermal deposits contain in excess of 8 Moz Au, associated with massive enargite-cemented breccia and quartz-carbonate-base metal veins, respectively. The two deposits are separated by 500 m, but the latter was not discovered until the former was nearly mined out. The sulfid assemblages of these adjacent deposits are characterized by high- and intermediate-sulfidation states, respectively. However, gold was introduced after enargite at Lepanto, associated with an assemblage that is similar to that of the Victoria ore. An even larger gold resource is present in similar to that of the Victoria ore. An even larger gold resource is present in the Far Southeast porphyry Cu-Au deposit, the top of which lies 200-400 m beneath and adjacent to these two epithermal deposits.

The present study demonstrates the feasibility of the ultrafine grinding and atmospheric leaching process applied to refractory gold concentrates from Salave Project located in northern Spain. At bench scale, it was found acceptable sulfide oxidation was about 84-85% and CIL gold recoveries between 95-96% applying specific energy consumption between 30 and 60 kWh/t during ultrafine grinding. The atmospheric oxidation of the sulfide concentrate was controlled between pH 4.4 and 4.8 with a mixture 90/10 of CaCO3/NaCO3 with residence time of 48 hours for the atmospheric oxidation and 30 hours residence time for the CIL process.

"El presente texto señala las pautas necesarias para realizar una evaluación técnica integral de la influencia del collar de bolas para las operaciones de molienda, afectando al desgaste de los revestimientos de los molinos convencionales. Para la determinación del collar de bolas es necesario realizar los análisis granulométricos con la finalidad de obtener el F80 y el P80 de las muestras obtenidas en la alimentación y producto de los molinos, definir el índice de trabajo (Wi) y consumo de energía. Asimismo, se debe considerar el porcentaje de la velocidad crítica, las dimensiones de los molinos, la densidad de los medios de molienda (bolas), el porcentaje de la carga de bolas, las características geométricas de las bolas para molienda y el diámetro real de bolas, que influye de forma inversamente proporcional en la tasa específica del consumo observada."
