The settling properties of anode slime in copper electrorefining have crucial effect on copper cathode quality. Anode slime settling is affected by electrolyte composition and temperature, electrolyte circulation, and the sizes and density of the slime particles and agglomerates. Typically, the industrial copper electrolytes contain 40–60 g/dm3 Cu2+, 130–220 g/dm3 H2SO4, 0.04–25 g/dm3 Ni2+, 0.005–30 g/dm3 As, and have operating temperature of 55–70°C. In optimal electrorefining process, the settling rate of anode slime is sufficiently high to avoid the risk of getting the slime entrapped in copper cathodes. In this research the settling properties of copper electrorefining bottom slimes, mainly consisting of Cu, Ni, Ag, Se, Pb, As, Bi, Sb and Ba compounds, were studied by settling rate tests. The tests were conducted in water and synthetic electrolytes with known viscosities and densities. In addition, the effect of agglomeration was taken into account – it was observed that breaking the agglomerates which existed in the as-received slimes decreased the particle sizes on average 56–73%, which decreased the settling rate. The results of this study provide detailed information of anode slime settling and thus clarify the conditions causing cathode contamination risks in copper electrorefining. INTRODUCTION Settling rates of Cu-ER anode slimes affect the purity of cathode copper and faster settling rate decreases the contamination risk (Davenport et al., 2002; Shi & Ye, 2013). The settling rates are affected by the properties of anode slime particles (Wills & Napier-Munn, 2011; Aaltonen, 2014; Kiviluoma, Aaltonen, Aromaa, Lundström & Forsén, 2016) as well as viscosity and density of the electrolyte (Davenport, King, Schlesinger, Biswas, & Robinson, 2002; Shi & Ye, 2013). Thus, it is crucial to find out how the viscosity and density affect the settling rates. Small spherical particles with diameter below approximately 50 µm obey Stokes’ law (Equation 1) (Wills & Napier-Munn, 2011). v = gd 2 (ρS – ρF) (18η) -1 (1) where v is terminal velocity (m/s), g acceleration due to gravity (m/s2), d diameter of particle (m), ρS density of particle (kg/m3), ρF density of fluid (kg/m3), and η dynamic viscosity (Pa∙s). The approximate effects of kinematic viscosity (ν = η / ρS), density (ρS) and particle sizes on settling rates defined for small anode slime particles based on Stokes’ law are presented in Figure 1. However, Stokes’ law does not take into account other than spherical shapes, and it is only applicable for small particles. Consequently, the real settling rates of the particles are lower than these (Wills & Napier-Munn, 2011). Moreover, some of the anode slime particles are larger than 50 µm (Aaltonen, 2014).

Batch flotation tests were carried out using samples from stockpiles that were up to 1.5 months old as well as fresh samples oxidized in the lab for up to six months. Head grades and size distributions of samples were equalized whenever possible. The samples from stockpiles and oxidation experiments produced inferior nickel grade-recovery compared to the fresh sample. The poorer grade-recovery performance was attributable to two factors. First, a significant dilution effect was observed due to complete flotation of pyrrhotite. Secondly, the same stockpiling conditions caused nickel losses that were attributable to non-floatability of some pentlandite. Application of a high pH of 10 compared to the regular pH of 9.2 slowed down pyrrhotite flotation kinetics, but was not able to prevent complete flotation after 8 minutes. The samples oxidized in the lab did not match full characteristics of stockpile samples. They provided somewhat better selectivity for pentlandite. Some correlations were observed on a qualitative basis between surface characteristics such as elemental sulphur formation, activation and flotation behaviour. Oxidation conditions, which induce floatability on pyrrhotite while causing incremental loss in pentlandite floatability appear to be the root cause of difficulties in the processing of oxidized forms of these ores.

"Shaft sinking design is typically driven by what has been successful in the past and the availability of sinking plant. This document considers a project where the sinking design and methodology is unconstrained by conventional thinking and removed from the commonly held belief that a sinking methodology should be developed from available winding plant. Schedule was a key driver for the Project and led to an alternative sinking design that aimed to optimise sinking advance rates by specifying new winders that compliment known sinking plant while providing improved safety, redundancy and flexibility within each part of the sinking cycle. KEYWORDS Consistent, Efficient, Flexible, Improved, Innovative, Optimise, Redundancy, Safety, Schedule INTRODUCTION The project is remotely located in the South Gobi region of Mongolia on a brownfield site and the scope of work included the concurrent blind sinking and concrete lining of two (2) ventilation shafts to an approximate depth of 1,150 m at a finished diameter of 10 m and 11 m respectively. All sinking and lining operations to be completed as in-line activities, (no lining whilst other activities are undertaken). The project was schedule driven with a completion date set for the first quarter (calendar) of 2021 and there were no restrictions imposed on the successful Contractor with respect to their equipment selection. Existing sinking plant already onsite from three previous shaft sinking operations would be made available to the Contractor if required on an as is where is basis Sustained advance rates in excess of 2.4 m per day would be required in order to achieve the completion milestone, therefore the design would have to include contingency and demanded flexibility to account for equipment down time. Previous shafts that had been sunk onsite have utilised a single double drum kibble (bucket) winder (hoist) with a single excavator loading on the shaft floor into a large capacity kibble (bucket). DESIGN Mucking The sinking design centred on the mucking cycle given that this is traditionally the most restrictive part of the sinking cycle and typically accounts for one third of the overall sinking cycle. The Vertical Shaft Mucker (VSM) and/or diesel excavator are commonly used plant for shaft sinking that were under consideration. The use of Cactus Grabs was not considered given the higher risk associated with grab ropes and hoist failures."

"SUMMARYIn cooperation with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, selected deposits of Potsdam sandstone in the Ottawa-Kingston area were core-drilled and evaluated by CANMET as potential glass and foundry sand. Analyses of cores ranged from 84.6 to 98.5% Si02, 0.09 to 0.65% Fe203' and 0.07 to 2.10% A12°3' The cores were largely composed of white to grey, relatively tough sandstone. Impurities included iron as pyrite, iron oxides and staining on the quartz grains; carbonates as calcite; and aluminum oxide as feldspar. Beneficiation included size reduction to grain size, about 600 um, by jaw, roll and cone crushers, and grinding in a muller-mixer. Removal of fines was achieved by attrition scrubbing and washing. Further removal of impurities was achieved by reverse flotation of pyrite, iron oxide, feldspar, and carbonate minerals employing both anionic and cationic collectors. Flotation resulted in a substantial improvement in the quality of most samples; analyses of quartz concentrates showed 98.5 to 99.7% Sial> 0.022 to 0.156% Fe203' and 0.07 to 0.62% A1203. Further reduction of the iron content by wet magnetic separation and acid leaching also was investigated. On the basis of the samples submitted, sands/ones from six of the seven deposits studied have potential as sources of glass sand. Foundry sand tests were inconclusive because of the small quantities available for study."

The effect of alloying elements on the mechanical properties and weldability of wrought gamma prime strengthened nickel- base superalloys is well known. An understanding of the basic guidelines concerning alloying additions has led to the invention and development of HAYNES® 282® alloy for applications in aircraft and land base gas turbines and other high-performance high-temperature environments. The alloy combines exceptional high temperature properties with good weldability and fabricability. At high temperatures (~ 900 °C), the alloy is stronger in creep strength than Waspaloy alloy (UNS N07001) and it approaches the creep strength of R-41 alloy (UNS N07041). Because the alloy has better thermal stability, fabricability, and weldability than Waspaloy and R-41 alloys, it is currently being considered as a candidate universal consumable for welding/ repair welding of gamma prime strengthened nickel based superalloys and it is also being considered as a suitable replacement for applications where R- 41, Waspaloy, and 263 (UNS N07263) alloys are currently being used. The alloy was designed to have improved resistance to strain age cracking, a problem common to gamma prime strengthened nickel based superalloys. In this paper, we present (1) results from hot ductility testing of annealed and annealed/aged material; (2) results from Time Resolved X-ray Diffraction (TRXRD) studies during a welding thermal cycle of annealed and annealed/aged material, and (3) gas metal arc (GMA) and gas tungsten arc (GTA) welding of annealed and annealed/aged material.

"INTRODUCTIONThe Department of Energy, Mines and Resources has recently developed two automatic controls for use in the cyanidation circuits of Canadian gold mills. These controls are the alkalinity probe and the Continuous Cyanide Titrator both of which are discussed in the paper ""Instrumentation in the Cyanide Process"".(1)In May 1966 these process controls and associated recording equipment were installed in the Bralorne mill by two Scientific Officers from the Department. The object was to determine if the equipment was amenable and applicable to this particular circuit. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the performance of the equipment over a test period of 4 months.CONCLUSIONSThe results of test work to date indicates that both the Conductivity Probe and the Continuous Cyanide Titrator would be an as set to the operation of the Bralorne mill.The conclusions are generalized as follows:-(1) At a milling rate of 100, 000 tons per year the expected reductionin reagent consumption would give a direct saving of 37, 660 lbs of lime@$0.030 per lb and 15, 790 lbs of sodium cyanide@ $0.175 per lb. Such cost savings would pay for the equipment and installation costs within a 30 month period"

Auriferous, bedding-parallel veins occur in zones of carbonaceous, argillaceous and sulfidic turbidites in the Lower to Middle Cambrian sandy flysch of the Goldenville Formation. The 0348 values for vein and wall-rock arsenopyrite and pyrrhotite, and for regional pyrite and pyrrhotite, are highly positive. The values are similar to those from Cambro-Ordovician sediment-hosted deposits of other types, and display trends that increase upward in the stratigraphic sequence. The similarity in composition of vein and wallrock sulfides indicates a seawater-sulfate sourCe for sulfur, derived from the enclosing rocks at the time of vein formation. The upward increase in ?34S values is consistent with closed system sulfate reduction in the anoxic portion of a stratified water-colurnn. Published ? 13C and ? 18() values for Meguma Group vein carbonates are unlike those of other gold-vein carbonates, but are similar to those of diagenetic-metamorphic carbonates from the Meguma Group and elsewhere. These data indicate that the source for the vein-related sulfides and carbonates may be the host strata; possibly the arsenic and gold were derived from the same source.

Abstract -The Changning-Menglian metallogenic belt in western Yunnan, China, is characterized by the occurrences of both Pb-Zn-Cu and Cu massive sulfides in Permo-Carboniferous mafic volcanic sequences. These deposits were formed in a back-arc basin at a rifted continental margin in the Paleozoic Tethys Ocean. Pb-Zn-Cu deposits are associated with alkalic basalt, andesite, and lesser felsic volcanic rocks intercalated with limestone, which probably formed along an immature rifting segment on a continental basement. These volcanic rocks are enriched in K, Ti, LREE, and other incompatible elements, and have the attributes of alkalic within-plate basalt. An extensive unit of sulfide- carbonate-silica shale in proximity to massive sulfides contains high values of Mn, As, Mo, W, Sn, Sb, and Hg, and has REE patterns that are similar to the volcanic rocks. This, together with the graded bedding in the footwall volcanic rocks, suggests that the sulfides precipitated in a shallow, unstable, and carbonate-saturated volcanic basin. A stringer zone is traced downward for 500 m below the massive sulfide orebodies. It is characterized by an upper sericite-quartz zone and an extensive lower skarn alteration with enhanced W, Sn, and Bi. Lead isotope data show both continental basement and magmatic sources may have supplied the ore metals. Cu deposit and occurrences are hosted by tholeiitic units that represent the mature spreading segments in the back-arc basin. The tholeiitic lavas have LREE-depleted or flat REE patterns similar to MORB or back-arc mafic lavas. The cupriferous massive sulfides are overlain by an extensive unit of chlorite-magnetite or ochre, suggesting a relatively oxygenated oceanic basin. Ni and less Co mineralization is found in dolomite veins of the stringer zone. Enhanced concentrations of Ni, Co, Au, and As are found in the massive sulfides and in sulfide-rich tuffites. The geological setting and mineralization of the Changning-Menglian belt has similarities with modern back-arc basins such as the Manus Basin in the western Pacific.

It will illustrate the benefits of initiating engagement at the appropriate point in your project’s schedule, and the limitations of doing so too early and at later stages of the project engineering. The benefits of this approach can be realized within any legislative Jurisdiction including the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act 2012 and Canada’s new Impact Assessment Act.

"In the first half of 1990, Cambior earned $1104 million, or $0.37 per share, on revenues of$66.4 million. The company's strong cash position, attained late in 1989 and in the beginning of1990 through the exercise of warrants, put working capital at $83.8 million as of June 30, 1990. Long-term debt was reduced by over $10 million during the weak gold market, leaving the company with a debt to equity ratio of only 0.03. Production for the six first months of 1990 was 107 720 oz. Au, an increaseof24% over the corresponding period in 1989.Financial Profile/Results and Corporate Financial StrategiesTotal revenue for the 1989 fiscal year was $116,883,000 compared to $109,848,000 for 1988. The 1989 results achieved despite a lower average gold price, resulted from a higher level of commercial gold production and a 115% increase in investment income over 1988. Investment income rose to $3,568,000 in 1989 due to higher levels of cash assets.Cambior's mine operating costs increased 19% to $68,561,000 in 1989 from $57,472,000 in 1988. This increase resulted from rising operating costs at the Doyon Mine ($250/oz to $274/oz) due to the shift from open pit to underground operations, as well as from the start -up of three new mines with relatively higher costs. These costs have reached a stable level that should be maintained for the next few years.In 1989, net exploration expenses were $6,838,000, down 31070 from 1988, partially due to the Canadian tax reforms introduced since 1987. Depreciation and depletion grew by $1,432,000 in 1989, reflecting a higher volume of commercial production from the Pierre Beauchemin, Lucien C. Beliveau and Chimo mines.Net earnings for 1989 amounted to $17,661,000 or $0.73 per share compared to $17,438,000 or $0.74 per share in 1988.Cambior has an exceptionally liquid and strong balance sheet. As at December 31, 1989, net working capital stood at $85.6 million, with a total assets base of $338.6 million. With a long-term debt (including gold loans) of $21.5 million and shareholders' equity of $277.2 million, Cambior has a debt to equity ratio of 8%. All but about $100,000 of long-term debt is in the form of gold loans.The total market value for Cambior's stock as at September 10, 1990, stands at $420million, based on recent stock market prices. Copper concentrates bearing arsenic as enargite (Cu3AsS4) or tennantite (Cu12As4S13) have disadvantage on copper smelting environmentally and economically, so those concentrates should be treated decently. In this paper, some experiments of arsenic removal from several kinds of copper concentrates by heat treatment in an inert atmosphere were discussed. In this study, several samples in which arsenic contents varied 0.18 to 8.3 wt % were heated to the temperature range of 400 °C to 700 °C under argon gas flow during 1 hour. The heat residues and volatilized materials (V.M.) were analyzed by XRD, XRF, ICP-AES, XAFS and MLA to analyze residual concentration of arsenic and residual mineral composition. Experimental results showed that arsenic removal from copper concentrates advanced in 2 steps; at the temperature range of 500 ° C to 550 °C and of 550 °C to 650 °C, respectively. MLA analysis showed that a few of arsenic in enargite was removed by 550 °C heating and a majority of it was still combined with copper and sulfur as tennantite. On the other hand, arsenic in tennantite was removed almost completely by 650 °C heating. Furthermore, a particular type of arsenic mineral, such as Cobaltite (CoAsS) still remained after heating at 700 °C.

"The orebodies of the East Malarcic mine are interesting from a geological standpoint because of the very small amount of vein quartz, the occurrence of much of the ore in soft greenstone schist, the presence of innumerable bodies of porphyry and diorite, and their obvious relationship to structural features .The property lies in the northeast part of Fourniere township in western Quebec, and within the important fault zone that geological mapping in recent years has shown is traceable wesrward through the Noranda and Kirkland Lake camps and eastward to beyond the Val d'Or region . The claims included in the property were staked by J.P. Norrie and L. K. Coffin in 1932, but gold was not discovered until i934. Production began late in 1938. The total amount of ore milled up to the end of 1945 was 2,837,091 tons from which gold having the value of $16,631,758 was recovered.The region is underlain by an alternating series of Early Precambrian sediments and volcanics cut by innumerable intrusives. These are more fully described in the works of Gunning, Ambrose, and Norman. The East Malanie property is underlain by three formations, which, named from north· to south, are : the Cadillac sediments, the Blake River volcanics, and the Kewagama sediments. In addition, there are countless intrusions of porphyry and diorite, particularly in the greenstone, occurring in all sizes up to those measurable in hundreds and even thousands of feet . These constitute a large proportion of the greenstone in places. In many parts of the ore zone there is more porphyry and diorite than schist. The greenstone itself is not homogeneous but includes peridotite, andesitic lava, and soft talcose schist.Orebodies have been found in both the Blake River volcanics and the Kewagama sediments. They are not known to occur in the Cadillac group. The ore occurs in a zone of pyrite mineralization in which almost no other metallic minerals and very little vein quartz are present. Generally, the grade varies directly with the amount of pyrite. The mineralization is later than all the rocks of the area. Diorite was a particularly favourable rock for mineralization and contains the highest grade of ore, but any rock in the fault zone may be ore-bearing, whereas the same type away from the zone is not."

Dans les chapitres qui suivent on présente un concept d'un outil d'écaillage portatif et mécanisé développe à l'Université Laval, ainsi que les résultats des essais de cet outil, effectués dans quelques mines au Québec. On constate que Ie nouvel outil d'écaillage démontre un potentieJ intéressant tant au niveau de l'effort requis pour effectuer la tâche d'écaillage que de la sécurité des mineurs.On conclut que l’application de cet outil fera un pas important sur Ia voie d'amélioration des conditions de travail dans les exploitations souterraines, tout en assuarnt une qualité accrue de l'écaillage.AbstractThe first part of this paper discusses the type of scaling operations presently in use in underground mines and derma; a scaling factor which is expressed as the:: area necessary to scale to extract one ton of ore. Subsequently, the problems associated with conventional scaling methods are discussed as well as recent developments in mechanized hand-held scaling devices and methods of loose detection. The elements of the scaling process are further analyzed. In subsequent sections of this paper, the conception and design of a mechanized scaling device, developed at Universite Laval is described. The results of field tests conducted in Quebec hard rock mines are presented. The experimental findings show that the mechanized hand-held scaling device shows great potential in improving the productivity and safety of underground mining operations."

The La Ronge. Kisseynew, Glennie Lake and Flin Flon domains. the main focu for gold exploration in the southeast part of the Saskatchewan Shield, were subject to continental glacial ice advances from the northeast during the Quaternary. Based on forty-four auger hole along with surficial mapping, the general Quaternary stratigraphy in this area is observed to be composed of a lower till unit , an overlying stratified unit of glaciofluvial sand and gravel and/or a glaciolacustrine silt-clay unit. an upper till. and an upper tratified unit. The lower till is commonly found throughout the geological domains except where it has been eroded in glaciofluvial or fluvial channels. Glacial Lake Agassiz fo rmerly covered most of these prospective domains. The lacustrine deposits associated with the lake impede surficial geochemical surveys including soil. lake sediment. and biogeochemical surveys. The approximate extent of clay cover can be predicted from beach elevations. For instance. in the Waddy Lake area. clay i not known to occur above about 1,400 feet (425 m) elevation. Exploration techniques are hampered by clay in at least one third of the volcanic belt. Thi s influence is indicated by the fact that nearly all gold prospect found to date are located above 1,400 feet (425 m) while the area of clay cover is vi rtually unexplored. The upper till i related to a minor ice readvance. This till is the medium often sampled during soil surveys in the area . lts value as a geochemical ampling medium is dependent on the extent of erosional contact with bedrock highs on the lower till. Those areas which are relatively free of lacustrine and fluvial deposits are those where surface geochemical methods work best. In the Waddy Lake volcanic belt approximately 25-50% of the area may be suitable for surficial surveys. The area of the Star Lake prospect occurs above the 1,500 foot (460 m) elevation and was not covered by Lake Agas iz. The effectivene of till sampling as a surface sampling medium was tested in those areas above the clay level. Till orientat ion surveys were carried out at the Star Lake property and the Tower Lake prospect (Waddy Lake area) within the La Ronge Domain . Gold grain counts and analy es of heavy mineral concent rate from 7 kg surface ti ll samples were used to delineate dispersion trains down-ice from mineralization. In addition, the clay fraction and a 30 g (-80 mesh) subsample from the same till sample, were analyzed for gold . Un horizon repère, siliceux et sulfure, d'origine sédimentaire, appelé ""Tuffite Clef', est présent au sommet du Groupe du Lac Watson et pend à 45° vers le sud.Le gisement Isle-Dieu est constitué par une lentille qui recoupe, en partie, la ""Tuffite Clef"". Elle est séparée en deux trorçons par un dyke de tonalite. Les données obtenues à partir des forages effectues à travers la rhyolite sous-jacente permettent de définir les zonations chimiques et pétrographiques de la cheminée d’altération.Ces transformation minéralogiques et chimiques sont caractérisées par un enrichissement en MgO, Fe2O3, MnO et un appauvrissement en CaO, SiO2 et Na2O. La zonation spatiale de ces altérations permet de mettre en évidence la géométrie et l'extension des conduits hydrothermaux. L'épaisseur maximale des sulfures massifs au sein de la lentille est en étroite relation avec l’importance des zones d'altération. Les patrons de variations chimiques dénotent une orientation préférentielle WNW des conduits hydrothermaux. Les parties les plus altérées et les plus déformées présentent localement de fortes variations positives en Zr, Nb, et terres-rares; ces concentrations sont vraisemblablement imputables a /' enrichissement résultant de la diminution du volume lors de l'altération.L'étude pétrographique montre que la porosité et la perméabilité du milieu ont joué un rôle important dans la circulation des fluides car les roches de la cheminée présentent des phénomènes de dévitrification, de bréchification et de microfracturation très prononces. La nature magnésienne de certaines chlorites et la perméabilité accrue du milieu semblent en accord avec le modelé propose par Roberts et Reardon, ( 1978 )"

Hypereutectic Al-Si alloys are used in applications that require high resistance to wear and corrosion, hardness and low coefficient of thermal expansion, To maximize the properties of these alloys, semi-solid processing can be utilized to modify the solidification structure of the primary silicon crystals as well as to reduce microsegregation and porosity, The transformation and spheroidization of primary Si crystals by shearing in the semi-solid state are not fully understood as they precipitate in the presence of other alloy phases, The objective of the present work is the determination the rheological characteristics of A390 (Al-17%Si-4,5%Cu-0.5%Mg) alloy using a Couette type (Haake RV12) viscometer and examining the microstructural evolution during continuous cooling and isothermal shear rate experiments, The effect of shear rate, solid fraction (temperature) and morphological evolution of the silicon crystals are investigated.

"Strain rate and temperature dependent deformation conditions are present during elevated temperature forming of aluminum and other metallic materials. While many constitutive laws have been proposed to represent such deformation conditions, a closer investigation often reveals their limited applicability in terms of fit to the experimental data, and interpolation within and extrapolation outside of the range of experimental stress-strain curves. This is often because material-specific primary deformation mechanisms of temperature-dependent strain and strain rate hardening are poorly captured. In the present work, the Voce-Kocks constitutive model based on mechanics of dislocations storage and annihilation has been found to be suitable for many metallic materials. The model was modified to include the effect of temperature dependent shear modulus. The modified model is then employed to represent the experimental data obtained from uniaxial tensile tests on AA7075-O sheet at elevated temperatures and strain rates. Also, hot gas bulging tests were conducted to verify the applicability of this model. Further, finite element simulation of the hot gas bulge test was performed by incorporating the model as a user material subroutine. Good general agreement was observed between the experimental and FE model predicted results. Some sources of discrepancy in the prediction are also discussed.INTRODUCTION There has been much interest in light-weighting of automobiles from automotive related industries to reduce overall carbon footprint and increase energy efficiency of the vehicles. Aluminum alloys, and especially the medium-strength 5xxx and 6xxx series alloys, have been the primary focus in the last 3 decades to reach the above environmental goals (Huo, Hou, Zhang, & Zhang, 2016) whereas aerospace industry has traditionally focused on high strength 7xxx series aluminum (Al-Zn-Mg-Cu) alloys for structural components (Deng, Yin, & Huang, 2011). Recently, there has been much interest in high strength 7xxx series aluminum as a replacement for heavier steel automotive structural parts such as A-pillar, B-pillar, side impact beams etc. (Harrison & Luckey, 2014). This is both interesting and challenging since the above aluminum structural parts will need to not only meet impact safety standards but also possess sufficient formability for manufacturing such complex parts. Since the formability of high strength 7xxx series materials is quite poor at room temperature, much interest has focused on improving both formability and final part strength via high rate hot stamping, in-die quenching, and subsequent artificial ageing process steps (Kumar & Ross, 2016)."

"RésuméLe mécanisme de transfert des charges et le processus de décohésion le long des scellements d'ancrages scelles dans des massifs rocheux sous des charges de tensionnement peut être examine par instrumentation de l'ancrage à l'aide de jauges de déformation. Dans ce contexte il est présente ici les résultats d'une étude, en vraie grandeur sur chantier, ayant porte, d'une part sur des essais d'arrachement conventionnels et d'autre part sur des essais déflagrée barres d'ancrages instrumentées et scellées à l'aide d'un coulis de ciment dans un massif rocheux sain et compètent. Les résultats décrits ici, particulièrement les profits de contraintes de cisaillement le long de l'ancrage, obtenus à partir des valeurs de déformations relevées sur les jauges, ont permis de préciser le niveau de chargement correspondant à la décohésion initiale du coulis de scellement, d 'examiner l'effet de la décohésion sur la distribution des contraintes et de caractériser le fluage du système barre d'ancrage/coulis de scellement.ABSTRACTThe load transfer mechanism and the debonding process along grouted rock anchor, subjected to tention loads, can be examined through the instrumentation of the anchor with the aid of strain gauges. In this context, the resultsof a full-scale site investigation including classical pull out tests and creep tests are presented in this paper. These tests were performed on instrumented bars which were cement grouted in a competent rock mass. Results presented in this paper concern, among others, shear stress pro/ties along the grouted anchors which were determined from strain values obtained from the strain gauges. These results have been used to: (1) predict the load level corresponding to initial debonding of the grout; (2) study the effect of debonding on shearstress distribution along the anchor; and (3) characterize the creep behavior of the bar anchor/cement grout system."

Ni-20Cr metallic coating was deposited on a Ni-based Superalloy (3Fe-19.5Cr¬0.3Ti-Balance Ni) by a shrouded plasma spray process; NiCrA1Y was used as a bond coat. Erosion studies were conducted on uncoated and plasma-spray coated superalloy specimens using an air-jet erosion test rig at a velocity of 40 m/s and impingement angles of 30° and 90°. The coating has been characterized for porosity, microhardness and microstructure and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). An electron probe micro analyzer (EPMA) was used to obtain X-ray elemental mappings of the coating along the cross-section. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) with EDAX attachment was used to analyze the eroded surfaces.
