"Mineral and industrial raw material mining and preparation make a negative impact on the environment. The main types of impact are the land resources gathering, soil and water balance disturbance, surface-water, underground space and atmospheric air pollution, as well as the vast amount of solid and liquid waste production. Considerable attention in recent decades has been given to waste recycling. The task is to maximize the use of both newly formed and accumulated solid and liquid wastes. The mining and mining and smelting enterprises industrial waters are a very promising source of secondary hydromineralic raw materials. They have high concentrations of not only calcium, sodium, but also, for example, lithium, rubidium, heavy non-ferrous metals. In general, unfortunately, we have to state that today there is no wide practice of extracting valuable components from waste enrichment, as well as processing of man-made waters to extract metals from them. The quantity of extracted components from underground, and furthermore passing waters, is insignificant. At the same time there is a tendency to increased demand for rare metals: Sr, B, Br, I. This is explained by their wide use in many industries. For example, the consumption of lithium products is steadily increasing. The obtained results showed that in the liquid phase in connection with high salt content and a significant difference in the macro- and microcomponents contents, conditions are initially created for the microcomponents selective isolation possibility. The identified conditions realization is most possible in such technological processes as cryotechnology, sorption and ion flotation. There is an urgent need to expand research in this direction and to recognize as a publicly important task the mining and industrial waste processing full-scale introduction into the practice of operating mining and processing enterprises and iron and steel companies.INTRODUCTION Mineral and industrial raw material mining and preparation make a negative impact on the environment. "In case of free gold presence in ore, there is always problem of a choice between the gravity-flotation and gravity separation flowsheets. Study of morphology of gold being extracted by different methods allows to find the most efficient solution. One of the latest methods of gold concentration for wide range of grain size (-0.8+0 mm) is a flash flotation. The paper presents comparative testing results of flash and centrifugal separation.The goal of the studies was to determine process and flotation parameters of flash flotation. In case valued minerals are soft if compared to host rock, such minerals tend to concentrate into circulating load of grinding circuit. Thus, valued minerals can be overground, and in turn, will result in low extraction in flotation circuit. Integration of flash flotation operation into process flowsheet has been evaluated. Flash flotation operation can be successfully used not only for gold but also copper, lead, nickel and silver minerals.With low-sulphide ores being a case study under laboratory conditions, various flotation (impeller rotational speed, air flowrate) and process (pulp density, collector consumption, frother consumption, time of flotation) parameters were studied in view of its impact on gold flash flotation. Experiments were carried out under laboratory conditions using special pneumatic mechanical flotation machines.INTRODUCTIONGravity separation is used for extraction of coarse gold before cyanidation and before flotation of polymetallic ores to increase gold total recovery into gravity copper and lead concentrates.Benefit of the flash flotation is efficient recovery of coarse gold carrier particles (sulphides) thus preventing its regrinding and, as a result, low recovery. Furthermore, combination of flash and conventional flotation results in final tailings that do not require further cyanidation.Combined gravity-flotation flowsheets are designed for concentration of ores containing gold within thewide range of grain sizes (see Table 1)."

Li-ion batteries are now used in electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) and, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Nanostructured Li(NiyMnzCo1-y-z)O2 is one of the more popular cathode chemistries for automotive Li-ion battery, due to its enhanced properties such as large surface area, short diffusion length, enhanced ionic and electronic conductivity, improved mechanical strength and structural integrity [Pan et al, 2013]. Recycling of Li-ion batteries helps to mitigate environmental effects of virgin metal extractions along with improper disposal of end of life batteries. To fulfill these objectives of the recycling, recovery of pure streams of the involved metals should be considered. In this study, the batteries were first discharged and dismantled in an inert atmosphere (Ar). The electrodes were then heat treated in a box furnace. This was done in order to break the chains of the adhesive (PVDF) and consequently separate the metallic substrates Cu and Al from the electrochemically active compound. This heat-treatment also helped to simplify the dissolution of the metal constituents in the electrochemically active compound from the cathode in the acid leaching process. Solvent extraction was chosen to achieve separation and recovery of metals with higher purity from these leachates. In the scope of the present work, a complete process from the point of dismantling to separation of constituent metals using solvent extraction was studied.

The growing concerns on process efficiency, escalating operating and capital costs along with environmental and social concerns of using conventional technology for extracting gold and titanium dioxide demand an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals and a broader understanding of the various process steps involved. This will allow development of efficient process flowsheet for product recovery and compliance with regulatory guidelines. This paper will discuss our recent developments in mineral processing and hydrometallurgical technologies to recover gold and titanium dioxide from a wide range of feed materials including ores, concentrates and tailings.

"The ores of black, non-ferrous, rare, noble metals are mostly distinguished by a variety of mineral types and complexity of their material composition. This article is devoted to the promotion of the concept of mineral processing in modern realities of the deficit of high–grade ores and increase in their demand. Normative and methodical documentation for specific types analysis with the definition of the field of application are presented in this paper. . For example, the pyrochlore-monazite-goethite ores from one of the deposits from Eastern Siberia - Chuktukonskoe ore field were tested. The development of mineralogical methods and testing of specific raw materials are shown. The method of small-angle X-ray (and also synchrotron) scattering, which was developed for solving problems associated with structural high-resolution diagnostics, was tested for bauxites of Vezhay-Vorykvinskoye field.INTRODUCTION A highly intense production of many types of mineral deposits results in gradual depletion and of mining-geological and mining-technical conditions of various ore reserves ?. Relatively easily accessible and rich deposits are getting depleted in the first place, and it is necessary to involve low grade and refractory ores into production and processing. Traditional technologies can hardly be applied (Chanturia, 2017; Bazin et al., 2014; Ponaryadov, 2017). Rare metal ores have those features of high industrial value and bad performance in ore separation. Most of rare metals ores are with low grade of valuable components, rareness of useful minerals, complicated combination of associated minerals and high difficulty in separation and enrichment of minerals. For those single (Ta, Nb) or (Ta, Nb, Sn) ore occurred in granite and pegmatite, the ways of gravity separation and magneto electric separation to concentrate (Ta, Nb) minerals are adopted. There are many mines being explored successfully both at home and aboard. While, for complex (Nb-Zr-REE) ores associated with Be and Ti minerals, they are commonly considered as rich rare metals ore but more difficult to process. One of rare metals mine in Inner Mongolia has the features as with large reserves and high grade of columbium and zirconium and accompanies with REE and beryllium, therefore with significant industrial value. After the utilization of research method of process mineralogy, detailed mineralogy research has been made on the rare metals ore. The test results show that there are abroad isomorphism replacements among such elements, such as Ti, Mn, Fe, Nb and Ta, between Be and REE in metallic oxide minerals of that ore, which makes the mineral composition of that ore extremely complicated. This research identifies clearly the mineral composition, and investigate at the technological property and the occurrence of those elements as Nb, Zr, Be and REE in the rare metal ore. The achievements of this research provide important mineralogy basis for ore dressing research of refractory rare metallic ores.

"The quality of pellets produced is affected by quality anssastd quantity of green pellets, amount of addition of binders, type of binders added, amount of moisture added along with the other variables like rotation, inclination and fineness of feed. The green pellet quality depends upon chemistry, mineralogy and granulometry of fines used for pellet making, the feed size, its moisture content and porosity. During firing of green pellets ingredients present within reacts to form different phases and microstructure. So in turn physical and metallurgical properties of pellets are influenced by amount and type of binder and flux addition, induration time and temperature. During iron making process, the metallurgical properties of fired pellets are decided by the type and amount of these phases and their chemistry. Green pelletizing and induration studies have been already carried out with hematite ore fines. Indian iron ores of high alumina content showing different pelletizing characters, these studies can’t be directly interpreted. The main objective of proposed research work is to understand the green pelletizing process and determine the water bentonite interaction at different levels. Detailed investigation on swelling behavior of bentonite and microstructure of the green pellets of iron ore fines from SAIL captive iron ore fines from the Barsua in the state of Odisha. To convert these ore fines into pellets, the key raw material, additives and process variables that influence the pellet quality needs to be identified.INTRODUCTION Pelletization is the unit operation of agglomerating iron bearing fines (generally below 150µ with 65-80% passing 40µ) by tumbling in horizontal rotating drums or inclined discs, (Sivrikaya and Arol, 2013; Bhuiyan et al., 2011; Forsmo et al., 2006; Sastry et al., 2003) and the pellets are approximately spherical lumps formed by this process in presence of water and binder, on subsequent induration at 1300°c (Sivrikaya and Arol, 2014; Sivrikaya and Arol, 2013; Sivrikaya and Arol, 2012; Sivrikaya and Arol, 2010; Sastry et al., 2003; Kawatra and Ripke, 2003; Iveson, 2001a; Iveson, 2001b)."

"Lithium is the lightest of the metals, with high reactivity and great electrochemical potential. It has a low thermal expansion coefficient and high caloric value, and it forms very light and resistant aluminium alloys. These properties make lithium an attractive element for use in battery manufacture and glass and ceramics production, in addition to its applications in the aeronautic industry. Today, two sources of raw material are economically viable for lithium production: pegmatite rocks and brine. The world production, in 2012, was approximately 150,000 tons of LCE (lithium carbonate equivalent), almost triple the production in 2000. The forecasted consumption for the current year, 2013, was approximately 162,000 tons of LCE, and for 2020, it could be as much as 280,000 tons of LCE, stimulated essentially by the growth of world production of electric (EV), hybrid (HEV) and hybrid plug-in vehicles (PHEV), the batteries of which are based on Li-ions. With the growth of world demand and increasing prices, lithium minerals such as spodumene, petalite and amblygonite, once considered uneconomical for the production of lithium carbonate, are regaining their economic value. New projects to produce lithium compounds based on mineral sources are being developed in many countries, aiming to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate (99.95% Li2CO3). Although Brazil has large lithium pegmatite reserves, the domestic production of lithium carbonate and hydroxide is very low, at approximately 600 tons of LCE, which represents 0.4% of the world production. The application of these products is mostly in the grease and ceramic industries. The national lithium market is under government protection due to its potential use for nuclear purposes. Thus, the industrialization activities and import and export of ores and lithium minerals, as well as organic and inorganic products, such as metallic lithium and lithium alloys, are controlled by the National Commission for Nuclear Energy (Comissão Nacional de Energia Nuclear - CNEN). The objectives of this work to quantify the real lithium demand in the Brazilian market, considering that a large amount of lithium is indirectly imported in the form of the Li-ion batteries used in equipment such as mobile phones, cameras, tablets, notebooks and e-bikes, and to compare this demand with the current national production of LCE. Finally, some technological alternatives will be discussed, with the aim of increasing the competitiveness of the lithium industry in Brazil."

Graphite, a mineral form of pure carbon, is one of the most versatile minerals in industry, because of its varying physical properties and characteristics. The mineral occurs naturally in the form of tubular crystals or microcrystalline earthy lumps, or it is disseminated in rocks, which have undergone intense metamorphism. India has a large deposition of graphite minerals out of which about 43% are found in Arunachal Pradesh. However, compared to the rest of the country, the North-East Region and particularly Arunachal Pradesh has not attracted attention till date for detail investigation for characterization, beneficiation, prospecting and/or exploitation of the mineral resources including graphite. Bulk graphite sample were collected from upper Subanshiri district of Arunachal Pradesh. Chemical analysis of the representative samples were carried out and found that 7.29%, 19.60% and 6.07% of fixed carbon (FC) is present in graphite sample collected from La-Lamdak, Bopi and Taliha, Arunachal Pradesh, respectively. Chemical analysis of the ash of the graphite sample shows presence of impurities such as silica, Al2O3, Fe2O3, Ca, Mg etc in the graphite sample which are also supported by XRD and SEM-EDX investigation. The graphite samples of Arunachal Pradesh are low grade and do not fulfill the market requirement for the industrial applications. Therefore, low-grade graphite is subjected to beneficiation for the upgradation of the graphite for industrial applications. We have adopted the dispersion?cum-settling technique for the beneficiation of the graphite sample collected from Arunachal Pradesh. The FC of 40.21% with 41.17% raw graphite recovery which is equivalent to 71.02% carbon recovery have been obtained by gravity separation technique using only distilled water without any chemical reagent in case of graphite sample collected from Bopi, Arunachal Pradesh. The graphite sample is upgraded up to 47.75% FC with 41.91% raw graphite recovery, which is equivalent to 85.85% carbon recovery with the pH adjustment at 9 with NaOH. "CFM pneumatic flotation machines were developed by the Institute of Materials Science and Metallurgy, UrFU, and designed to concentrate a wide range of ores and man-made materials. A key principle of work is pulp preparation for flotation owing to its saturation with finely dispersed air bubbles in ejectors. CFM plants, their advantages over domestic and foreign prototypes are described. CFM pneumatic machine commercialization resulted in: - machines demonstrated high floatation efficiency for concentration of rebellious pyrrhotite-bearing copper and zink by simultaneous floatation of copper and zinc minerals and depressing pyrrhotite. CFM- 1400M introduction allowed simplifying and optimizing the flow chart and increase extraction of copper - by 5.4%, zinc - by 9.5% and improve the quality of copper (3% Cu) and zinc (1.5% Zn) concentrates. - due to copper pyrite concentration by using CFM 1400M overall copper recovery was increased by 1.5 %, and the content of copper in concentrates - by1%. According to the results of pilot runs, the use of CFM flotation for zinc cakes concentration strongly intensifies the process of cleaning water-soluble metal compounds and, thereby, increases the efficiency of flotation concentration and subsequent milling. CFM machines showed higher specific capacity (three or four times higher) (both for feed material and froth product). Specifically, CFM froth product has higher content of useful elements (silver by 0.014 % abs. zinc by 0.31% abs.) and better extraction (silver by 6.08% abs., zinc by 0.31% abs., and sulfide sulfur by 13.7 %). Sulfide sulfur content of CFM product chamber as compared to mechanical flotation machines is two times lower (0.48 vs. 0.95 %)."

"The article highlights the new procedure of choosing special methods of disintegration for very complicated rare ores. Especially, there is a complex approach to criteria of comparing different types of crashing machines. Criteria are as follows: degree of crashing, degree of grinding, degree of slime creation and the new creations criteria for selection. The procedure is tested on tantalium and zelestinium ore. A new methods was shown the preference impact crashing machine MD-7 for zelestinium ore. In product of crashing 0,050 mm size are 9.4 %, 0,005 mm size – 2.5 %.This is gut result, and show the best indexes of slime creation. The check of the proposed new methods was done when comparing the crushing of tantalium ores of the Otboynoe deposit in cone inertial and centrifugal impact crushers and roller press. A research was conducted different crashing machines under laboratory and semi-industrial conditions. Different operation modes of crushers were also checked. The comparison of the crushing selectivity criterion and degree of crashing showed that the centrifugal impact crusher (CC) and roller press (RP) has the lower indexes than the cone inertial crusher (CIC). Degrees of crashing for different crashing machines are:centrifugal impact crusher – 10.1;roller press – 10.8;cone inertial crusher – 14.2. The crusher CC the selection criterion is 0,632 units, RP – 0.730, where as for the crusher CIC – 0.848 units. The best crushing mode for the crusher CIC-300? is as follows: turning angle of debalance is 0°, peripheral speed of a cone rotation – 1420 r.p.m, specific energy consumption- 4.99 kW*t/t. Crusher CIC-300? is the best for tantalium ores of the Otboynoe deposit. The new methodic are verification.INTRODUCTION Rare metal concentration circuits are complex, energy-intensive, and costly. The reasons for this include the multimetal nature of the rare metal ores, their volatile material composition and low grade. That is why careful selection of ore preparation circuits is of great importance for minimizing the energy inputs and maximizing the liberation of the valuable minerals. Recent research (Khopunov, 2011, Gazaleeva, 2015) has demonstrated that the most efficient comminution processes available to the mineral processing industry are selective disintegration, crushing and grinding, allowing to liberate the mineral particles along the cleavage in the comminution process. These methods are indispensable for the processing of finely disseminated refractory ores prone to slime formation. Many rare metal ores found in Russia are of this type."

Effect of applied DC potentials on the bioleaching of a chalcopyrite concentrate in the presence of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans is discussed. Copper dissolution was the highest at an applied potential of +600mV (SCE), while all the dissolved copper got cathodically deposited at a negative potential of -600mV (SCE). Electrobioleaching at an applied potential of +600mV (SCE) was established at different pulp densities as a function of time. Effect of the magnitude of electrolytic currents on the activity and growth of bacterial cells was studied. Preadaptation of bacterial cells to the concentrate slurry and electrolytic growth conditions significantly enhanced copper dissolution. Electrochemical and biochemical mechanisms involved in electrobioleaching are illustrated with respect to oxidative dissolution and bio catalysis of anodic oxidation.

Results of the study of chloride ion concentration effect to osmium-187 sorption from wastewater of copper smelter with use of foreign anionites of different basicity and structure are presented in the work. It was found that the increase of chloride ion concentration in the wastewater helps to increase recovery of osmium using anionites regardless of their nature. The ways to intensify the process are proposed. The method for osmium elution from the anionites with potassium iodate solution was developed. It was shown that the method lets to recover up to 99% of osmium from the anionites. Recommendations for selection of eluents for better recovery of osmium from the anionites were elaborated. The experiment adopted magnetic separation-priority flotation (first to float copper,then float lead) combined technology to deal with a complex Cu,Pb ,Zn multi-metals ore which has high sulphur content, difficult to separate Cu, Pb ,Zn minerals from sulphur and separate Cu from Pb. Floatable pyrrhotite was separated through magnetic separation which could eliminate the adverse effect on the flotation followed up. And then adopting the priority flotation process to recover the Cu, Pb ,Zn from the magnetic tailings. In priority, flotation Cu, BP(a kind of ethionine ester collector ) and ethyl xanthogenate were used as the collector, LD-1 and sodium sulphite were used as the depressant.The depressants combined with humic acid sodium and lime were used for chalcopyrite ? pyrite separation to further improve the copper concentrate grade. Considering the raw ore that contain 0.32% copper, 0.54% lead and 25.54% sulfur. The copper concentrate grade is 23.61%. The lead content of copper concentrate is only 0.85% . The recovery of copper is 75.03%,and the lead concentrate grade is 54.58%, the copper content of lead concentrate is only 0.81% and the recovery of lead concentrate is 62.24%. The mineral processing indexes were excellent, finally realizing the high effective separation of Cu, Pb , Zn and pyrite. This technique provides a new approach to highly utilize complex copper-lead-zinc ore.

"In this paper, we present the study’s results of electrical separation processes on the basis of new separator designs, new technological solutions, and newly discovered effects. We considered the options of enrichment by magnet separation of magnetite and titanomagnetite ores, ores and products containing chromium and manganese, ores of non-ferrous and precious metals. During pneumo-electric separation of mixed iron ore of SMPC, 43.3% of the output of the concentrate with an iron content of 61.7% was obtained in one step, with extraction of 70.5%. The paper also presents the results of the finalization on the air-electric separator of the magnetic fraction when separating oxidized ores of MPPOO (mining and processing plant of oxidized ores) on the Jans polygrade magnetic separator. A concentrate was obtained with an iron content of 65.1% with the extraction of 95.0% and tails with an iron content of 13.0%. The possibility of obtaining low-silica concentrates from these ores with an iron content of 67.15 and a quartz of 2.88% is shown. Also, the results of tests on the enrichment of chromite ores on the firing-magnetic scheme with corona-electrostatic separation are considered. On the initial ore of the Don MPP (mining and processing plant), a concentrate with a content of 61.8% Cr2O3 was obtained with a quartz content of ~ 1.0%. The results of pneumo-electric separation with triboelectric charge of the separated particles are presented. The results of the tests indicate a principal possibility of enriching chromite ores without costly high-temperature roasting. Dry technology of enrichment of manganese ores with the use of electrical separation increases the quality of the oxidized concentrate to the first grade and raises the total extraction by 2 times. For the Chineya deposit of titanomagnetite ores with copper impurities, electroseparation operations were carried out on two samples with a Cu content of 1.93 and 3.75%, respectively. For a sample with a Cu content of 6.02%, a copper concentrate output of 24.42% was obtained with a Cu content of 23.82% and the extraction of 94.88%. The results of enrichment by electroseparation of gold-containing sulfide ores can have the practical importance. For ores of the Berezovskoye deposit, a pyritic concentrate containing 100 g / t of gold was obtained after two or three operations of IES (integrated energy systems)."

"INTRIDUCTION At present, more and more metallized raw materials with a metallization degree of not less than 80% are used in the smelting of steel. The main quantity of this raw material is produced in furnaces of mine type. Advantages of this type of raw materials for metallurgical processing are low levels of harmful and slag-forming impurities and a high content of metallic iron. At the same time, the cost of smelting raw materials and obtaining high-quality steels are reduced. In addition to the undoubted merits of metallized raw materials, there are high requirements for the quality of iron concentrates, which are the starting material for metallization: the mass fraction of acidic oxides should not exceed 3%; The mass fraction of iron should not be less than 69%, mass fractions of harmful impurities (phosphorus, arsenic, sulfur, copper, etc.) should not exceed 0.02%. These requirements are dictated by the fact that the recovery of burned pellets is carried out by gas in a solid phase. In this case, the empty rock and harmful impurities from the metal are not separated and sent to the steelmaking unit, increasing the heat consumption for heating and worsening the quality of the steel. The combined production of high-quality concentrate and metallized raw materials requires a large capital outlay from the enterprise, which in the future can be compensated for by increased profit from the sale of more expensive marketable products. At present, in the territory of Russia and the CIS countries Lebedinsky mining-and-processing integrated works is the only enterprise that carries out the entire chain of operations for the production of metallized raw materials, starting with the production of high-quality magnetite concentrate with a mass fraction of iron of 69.5% and ending with the production of a metallized product in the form of hot briquetted gland. JSC «SSGPO» is the largest iron-processing enterprise in Kazakhstan, which processes about 40 million tons of ore per year and receives 16 million tons of concentrate per year with a mass fraction of iron 66.0-66.5%. The technological scheme existing at the concentrator of JSC ""SSGPO"" includes the crushing of the feed ore to the size of 20-0 mm; dry magnetic separation operation; three reduction stages to a fineness of 90-95% kl-0.071 mm; operation of desliming, wet magnetic separation and filtration of the concentrate. Dry magnetic separation of the feed ore makes it possible to remove from the process of 19.6% of the tailings with a mass fraction of the total iron 12.5%, of magnetite 2.2%. The first reduction stage is carried out in rod mills with the volume of 40 m3 to a size of -1.6 + 0.0 mm. The first stage of wet magnetic separation is carried out in counterflow magnetic separators PBM-P-150/200L. The magnetic product of the first stage of WMS is classified in hydrocyclones; sands enter the second reduction stage into central discharge ball mill 3600 × 5000. Runoff of mills enter on the second enrichment stage in counterflow magnetic separators PBM-P-150/200L. The magnetic product enters the classification of the second stage, forming a closed cycle. Mass fraction of the class -0.071 + 0 mm in classifications runoff of the second stage is 70-75%. The second stage classifications runoff is transported toWMS-III operation in semi-counter separators PBM-PP-120/300. The magnetic product of the third stage enters the classification of the third stage. Granular residue are transported to the reduction of the third stage into central discharge ball mill 3600 × 5000. The mill runoff enters the third stage of classification, forming a closed cycle. Classifications runoff of the third stage enters on deslimation. Deslimed product is sent for fine screening to the crasher «Derrick» 2SG48-60W-5STK with a cell size of 0.1 mm. Top size of crasher is sent to regrinding. Undersize with a mass fraction of the class -0.071 + 0 mm 90-95% is fed to the wet magnetic separation of WMS-"

By means of natural sedimentation, two different bentonite samples from Shandong province were purified, this paper studies the Hydro-properties of the two purified montmorillonite samples. Firstly, the layer charge of two purified montmorillonite samples were calculated by crystal structure formula reckon method and general hydro-properties were also measured. The research results showed that the layer charge of montmorillonite correlated well with its hydro-properties: mont-morillonite with lower layer charge had better hydro-properties, such as Mont-1, which had higher swelling volume and gelling value with lower CEC; while, montmorillonite with higher layer charge had worse hydro-properties, such as Mont-2, which had lower swell volume and gelling value with higher CEC; it proves that the hydro-properties of montmorillonite depends on its layer charge characteristics, layer charge characteristic is the inherent factors deciding the hydro-properties of montmorillonite, montmorillonite with lower layer charge has better hydro-properties than the one with higher layer charge. In this paper, the relation between the medium condition and colloid performance of Mont-1 are also studied. The results show that the hydro-properties of Mont-1 could be changed by changing slurry concentration (w/w) and shear rate or adding certain amounts of inorganic cation electrolytes, dispersants and surfactants. The viscosity of montmorillonite slurry could be enhanced by increasing slurry concentration,adding univalentcation electrolytes (less than 4% w/w) or proper amounts of dispersants and surfactants (less than critical micelle concentration); The slurry viscosity could be reduced by decreasing slurry concentration, increasing shear rate, adding proper bivalent (more than 4% w/w) cation electrolytes or proper quantities of dispersants and surfactants (more than critical micelle concentration).

"This paper considers the issue of treating argillaceous oxidized ores with low gold grade (around 1.0 g/t). These ores according to their gold recovery level can be treated by heap leaching and agitation cyanide leaching, but low gold grade makes this treatment uneconomic. Heap leaching of argillaceous ores requires high consumption of binding agent for pelletizing to create suitable hydro-physical properties of material, which leads to increasing process cost and makes the material treatment unprofitable. Agitation cyanide leaching of this ore requires grinding processes; these expenses would not be paid back by the amount of gold recovered. Considering the above, poor argillaceous oxidized ores are recommended to be treated according to a combined technology including fractionation of ore, heap leaching of coarse fraction and agitation leaching of argillaceous fraction. Complex approach application allows one to avoid expenses incurred for material grinding and high consumption of binding agent for pelletizing. The success of this technology implementation will firstly depend on the quality of material fractionation, therefore the section of disintegration and division of ore into different components will be the most important part of flowsheet development for gold production. When disintegrating minerals at positive temperatures both standard (mechanical disintegration - scrubbers) and innovative (hydraulic method of disintegration - HydroClean units) equipment is applicable. HydroClean units are characterized by lower energy and water consumption. In a number of cases it is required to treat frozen ores. When treating frozen material standard approaches to disintegration are not reasonable due to their low efficiency. In order to treat frozen material a two stage disintegration flowsheet with screening after each stage is recommended. The first stage is recommended to be performed in a scrubber, the second - in a HydroClean unit. This technological flowsheet will provide high and steady values for ore separation into fractions at low energy consumption for disintegration."

The purpose of the separation processes in coal processing is obtaining products of certain ash contents. In the most of cases it is assumed that the separation process is described by one, selected parameter, which usually is grain size or material density. The separation may be described by means of statistical distributions of random variables, what allows forecasting the separation results of certain enrichment method. There are very well known the applications of approximations of Tromp separation curves or distribution functions of Erasmus, Meloy or Weibull. It is necessary to say that if the fitness of the approximation more suitable, then the characteristics of the process itself is also better. In purpose of obtaining more appropriate results, these methods were modified by application the mathematical functions, as i.e. hyperbolic tangens function. Furthermore, on the basis of empirical data, so-called interpolations may be performed in purpose of getting more appropriate results of approximation. One of the most known techniques of interpolation is Hughes method. This method for interpolating standard data involves breaking down each interval into a number of smaller sub-intervals. The results of such one-dimensional approach not always contain the full in-formation of the searched distribution. It happens because such interpretation of the problem is not completely correct. In practice, the separation process depends not only on the one parameter (i.e. grain size), but also on many other features characterizing certain material (i.e. its density). It seems then that in some cases the application of multidimensional grain characteristics distributions will be more appropriate. In this paper, the technique of joining the distributions of grain size and density by means of so-called Morgenstern distributions is shown. The general form of these distributions is as following:

The use of secondary sources has become a very attractive option in the production of platinum group metals as the demand for these metals has increased. One of the promising sources are the spent catalysts, which provide an attractive source as they have relatively high metal content compared with the ores where the metal is originally extracted from. The concentration of platinum group metals in catalytic converters is in the range of 0.1-1 mg/g as the concentration in ores is usually less than 10 ppm. Aqueous chloride solutions are claimed to be a cost effective way in which platinum group metals can be brought into solution and concentrated. In this work the effect of different parameters on the dissolution rates of Pt, Pd and Rh were investigated. The parameters investigated were the Cl- concentration, the temperature and applied potential. Chloride concentrations used were 62.5, 90, 125 and 250 g/l. Temperatures were 25, 40, 60, 80 and 94°C. Potentials were 950, 1050, 1150 and 1250 mV vs. SCE for Pt and Rh and 380, 410, 440 and 470 mV vs. SCE for Pd. Dissolution rates were calculated from the current densities determined by potentiostatic measurements. Thin wire electrodes were used in the measurements. As expected, higher temperature, higher potential and higher chloride content generally increasedthe dissolution rate. However, the effect was nonlinear and slightly different for different metals. The results show that strongly oxidizing conditions are needed in order to achieve reasonable dissolution rates. With the highest chloride content and at potential of 1250 mV vs. SCE and 94°C the dissolution rate of Pt was nearly 1 mm/h, whereas in similar conditions Rh achieved a rate of only nearly 100 µm/h. Similarly, with the highest chloride content and at potential of 470 mV vs. SCE at 94 °C the dissolution rate of Pd was nearly 1 mm/h. Keywords: Pt, Pd, Rh, redox potential
