INTRODUCTION The first phase of the Los Angeles Metro Rail Project consists of 7.1 km of subway and stations running through downtown Los Angeles from Union Station to MacArthur Park. Contract A146, Tunnels from 5th/HILL Station to 7th/Flower Station, involves tunnel construction through the heart of downtown Los Angeles. The alignment of the tunnels passes beneath twelve buildings, ranging from a 3-story below grade parking structure to numerous 12 to 14 story buildings. The soil along the alignment is alluvium, consisting of silts and clays, clean sands and gravels located above the ground water table. Because of unstable ground conditions, which led to excessive ground losses in several instances, and because of the potential for excessive building settlements, it became necessary to design and perform a program of chemical grouting. The chemical grouting program was designed such that tunneling could proceed on a one shift per day basis, with chemical grounting being performed on the remaining two shifts. Each day 21,000 to 31,000 liters of sodium silicate grout were injected through sleeveport grout pipes installed 18 m deep through the tunnel face. Tunnel advance rates of 12 m per day, 60 m per week, under full chemical grout cover were achieved. The chemical grouting program virtually eliminated both ground loss and settlement and permitted successful excavation of the tunnels. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE METHOD The original application of sublevel caving was in ground so weak that it would collapse even in small headings when the support was removed. Heavily tim¬bered drifts were driven across the ore body; the timber was removed at the end of the drift, and the ore caved and slushed out. When dilution became excessive the next set was removed and so on. This method gave high dilution and poor recovery and was slow, but it was the only way to mine this type of ore body at that time. In more recent times the method has been adapted to stronger ground which needs to be drilled and blasted, so it is not a caving method as far as the ore is con¬cerned. However, the method does rely on the walls to cave and so the name sublevel caving has been retained. The method as presently generally applied is shown in Figs. 1, 2, and 3. Sublevels are established at approximately 7.6 to 12.2-m (25 to 40-ft) vertical intervals. They are usually accessed from a ramp system. A haulage drift is driven down the strike of the ore body, but in the waste. Production drifts are turned off the haulage drift and driven across the ore body on about 10.7-m (35-ft) horizontal centers. This divides the ore body into a geometrical pattern. Slot raises are driven at the end of the drifts near the ore-waste contact and the slot is expanded to the shape of the fan drilling. Up holes are drilled to break towards the slot at burdens of 1.2 to 1.8 m (4 to 6 ft). They are drilled past the next sublevel to the production drift im¬mediately above. When a sufficient number of fans has been drilled, production can start by blasting one or two fans at a time towards the slot. Load-haul-dump (LHD) units are used to muck the ore, which rills out into the drift. At first, when only a small area is mined, the walls may not cave, and the operation will be similar to open stoping. Later, sloughing from the walls will fill any voids created, and the ore after blasting will be con¬tained by the caved waste and gravitate downwards as mucking proceeds. DURING the driving of the main haulage level at the Copper Mountain mines of the Canada Copper Corpn., Ltd., near Princeton, B. C., some very rapid driving was clone, though no claim for a world's record is made. Conditions, however, were unfavorable for economical operations. The cost of power was high, for the fuel was of poor grade; besides, during the time the work was in progress, very little other power was needed so that most of the power cost was charged against the footage. The voltage transmitted was about 30,000. The plant was operated under a lease, which was due to expire about the same time this work was supposed to be completed; an extension was refused, therefore speed was most important. The plans called for a straight adit 2900 ft. (884 m.) in length. At a point 2800 ft. (853 m.) from the portal, two raises were to be put up to the next nearest workings, a difference in elevation of about 800 ft. (243 m.). One of these was to be a two-compartment hoistway and the other a zigzag ore pass, or muck run. A location for these raises had been determined by a number of diamond-drill holes, but the material to be penetrated by the alit was not known. Selection of delay times to optimize fragmentation has been a controversial topic among researchers and blasting practitioners. The paper reviews all available experimental information, ranging from small and medium scale tests in geologic materials to small scale tests at the laboratory and synthetic materials, simulating rock. Tests have been re-analyzed and discussed in terms of the information they present and the limitation of the testing environment in representing actual conditions. New results obtained from blasting experiments in specimens made of a grout have provided a clear picture of the effect of delay on fragmentation. The grout used has a strength of 60 MPa (8700 psi), density of 2.5 g/cm3 and P-wave velocity of 4000 m/s (13100 ft/s). Each block was placed in a yoke to eliminate unwanted reflections and the desired delay was obtained using the appropriate length of detonating cord between holes or sub-millisecond electronic detonators. Delays ranged from 0.1 ms/m (0.03 ms/ft) of burden to 16 ms/m (4.9 ms/ft) of burden. Fragmentation was obtained using screen analysis of the collected fragments. Delay time has been shown to be a significant parameter affecting fragmentation and back break. Generally larger fragments and less back break was observed at short values, while fragmentation somewhat deteriorated at significant delay times, compared to what was observed at intermediate delay times. The work is now extended to include the effect of energy partition on fragmentation as well as the effect of initiation point and coupling ratio.

Exploitation drilling in the majority of the larger fields was suspended and existing production kept within predetermined limits by beaning. Most of the smaller fields were shut down entirely. The depth of producing levels varies widely in the different fields. Shallow fields with drilling depths to 500 meters (1650 ft.) are still numer-ous as well as those with depths between 500 and 1000 m. (3300 ft.). A few of the newer fields reach greater drilling depths. up to 1600 m. (5250 ft.). The deepest exploration well drilled to date (Djambi field, South Sumatra) reached a depth of 2332 m. (7650 ft.) before abandon-ment in March, 1930. The specific gravities of the various crude oils produced range between 0.65 (86.2° A.P.I.) and 0.95 (17.5° A.P.I.). The lighter crudes have a high gasoline content and fuel oils are derived from the heavier crudes, which usually are rich in paraffin.

Introduction The endeavours to mechanise the shaft sinking operations have led to the development of shaft boring using a V-Mole. The method implies competent ground and a pilot hole of sufficient verticality. This connects the top and the bottom of the shaft and serves for air ventilation and the transport of mullock. The shaft boring machine - nick name V-Mole - with a general pattern similar to a tunnel-borer reames the pilot hole to the designed diameter of the shaft. (Figure 1) The excavating of the rock, the removal of the mullock from the face and the lining of the shaft wall are done simultaneously. If they can be done also continuously this than creates a high potential of productivity. The verticality of the shaft can be garanteed due to the laser beam guided steering system. The diameter of the shaft is variable in steps of 0.5 m between 6.0 and 10 m in accordance with the need. It decides the capacity of the V-Mole to be applied. The depth of the shaft does not depend on the machine. It is practically unlimited as long as a suitable pilot hole is available. Up to 1988 almost 12.656 m of shaft have been drilled on 40 individual projects in Germany and the U.S.A. using a V-Mole. The rocks penetrated were Carboniferous sediments consisting of Sandstones, Shales, Conglomerates and Coal seams. The average uniaxial compressive strength was in the range of 300 - 700 Mpa with a maximum of 1700 Mpa in some singular sandstones.

"Abstract - The Orvan Brook deposit is one of several (Zn+Pb>>Cu)-rich sulfide deposits hosted by the Spruce Lake Formation (California Lake Group) in the northwestern part of the Bathurst Mining Camp. This parautochthonous deposit is hosted by a narrow band of highly deformed, locally graphitic shale that appears to conformably overlie felsic volcanic rocks of the Spruce Lake Formation, and is in tectonic contact with overlying mafic volcanic and related sedimentary rocks of the Canoe Landing Lake Formation. The Spruce Lake Formation is dominated by felsic volcanic rocks and subordinate fine-grained sedimentary rocks, and mafic volcanic rocks (Canoe Landing Lake member). The felsic volcanic rocks can be divided into aphyric and feldspar-phyric rock types. The feldspar-phyric rocks and a few of the aphyric varieties have a Zr/TiO2 ratio of 0.06, and fall into the California Lake Group field on a Y/TiO2 versus Zr/TiO2 diagram. In contrast, the aphyric felsic volcanic rocks have Zr/TiO2 ˜ 0.09 and are marked by high Zr and Th, which is consistent with highly fractionated felsic magma of Spruce Lake affinity. Major and trace element analyses of host rocks suggest that weak to moderate hydrothermal alteration developed on the south side (stratigraphic footwall) of the deposit, which is consistent with a north-younging succession. The sulfide lens strikes east-west for approximately 2.3 km, extends down-dip for at least 500 m locally, and has an average thickness of between 0.75 and 1 m, but is locally up to 5.5 m thick. The contacts of the massive sulfide lens with its host rocks are invariably sharp. Host rocks show evidence of intense ductile deformation as well as later brittle deformation. Compositional layering and sulfide breccia textures in the sulfide body are interpreted to result from deformation or tectonic enhancement of original primary layering. The deposit contains an estimated resource of 2.69 Mt grading 1.73% Pb, 5.95% Zn, 0.37% Cu, 72 g/t Ag, and 0.9 g/t Au. Similarities in bulk d34S between the Orvan Brook (+8.6‰) and the nearby Cu-rich McMaster deposit (+8.2‰) suggest a common depositional setting."

In this paper, four cyanide-utilising bacteria strains were isolated from a gold mine tailings pond, in the Hexi gold mine (Shandong), China. Based on the analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence, four strains were identified as Aeromonas hydrophila strain C1, Bacillus mojavensis strain C3, Shewanella oneidensis strain C2, and Aeromonas media strain C4. Based on the cyanide detoxification efficiencies results of the four strains, Bacillus mojavensis C3 had the highest detoxification rate and was selected to assess its efficiency to detoxify cyanide in gold mine tailings at different pH (9.5, 10.5, and 11.6) using cyanide as the sole carbon and nitrogen sources. Strain C3 was capable of detoxifying 46.5mg/L of cyanide-containing gold mine tailings at all tested pH ranges at 30oC, 196 rpm after 15 d. The amounts of cyanide detoxified were 87.5%, 84.1%, and 73.5% at initial pH 9.5, 10.5, and 11.6, respectively. The highest cyanide detoxification was observed at pH 9.5. The viable cells growths in the samples were 5.7E+09CFU/mL, 4.9E+09CFU/mL, and 2.7E+09CFU/mL at pH 9.5, 10.5, and 11.6, respectively. Free ammonia concentrations were observed as a byproduct of the biodetoxification process. The residual ammonia concentration in the sample was observed at 0.35 mg/L, 0.33 mg/L, and 0.62 mg/L at pH 9.5, 10.5, and 11.6, respectively. The highest residual ammonia concentration was noticed at pH 11.6. The amount of cyanide removed by mixed culture strains C3 and C4 was 94.6% and showed a residual free ammonia concentration of 2.6mg/L, as biodetoxification byproduct after 120 h. The pure culture Bacillus mojavensis strain C3 and its mixed culture strains exhibited higher potential to detoxify cyanide-containing gold mine tailings at alkaline pH values and could be cultivated to detoxify gold mine effluents at large-scale. This progress report summarizes operating results on the gasification of natural lignite from five runs of the commercial-scale pilot plant at Grand Forks, N. Dak., during December 1946 and calendar years 1947 and 1948, when the plant was operated for 1,996 hours. A primary specific objective was to determine the useful life of the outer metal retort tube as it is influenced by corrosion and other factors under a wide range of operating conditions. A secondary objective was to develop the technology of production when generating gas with a high ratio of hydrogen to carbon monoxide in both the divided and continuous annuli. Results are summarized in graphs and tables that show hydrogen-carbon monoxide ratios from 2.3 to 9 at gas-production rates from 6 to 12 M cu. St. per hr. (thousand cubic feet per hour), or approximately 30 to 60 cu, ft. per square foot of heated retort-wall surface per hour. Gas yields ranged from 36 to 54 M cu, ft. per ton of natural lignite or 63 to 91 M cu. ft. per ton of moisture- and ash-free lignite, Production rates were higher in the divided annulus, but these represent the maximum capacity of the plant only at high hydrogen-carbon monoxide ratios when the high concentration of excess steam and low furnace temperature limit gas production. A ratio of 6 was the highest produced in the continuous annulus because mechanical Limitations of the auxiliary equipment prevented attainment of higher ratios. The lignite feed rate appears to influence the production rate more than any other individual operating variable. Heat balances for four periods when gas with ratios from 2.3 to 7.2 was produced with a lignite feed rate of about 325 pounds per hour suggest that the potential heat in the gas is lower at higher ratios, owing to increased heat losses in the excess steam. Heat-transfer rates through the retort tube in these four tests were between 1,500 and 3,000 B.t.u. per square foot per hour. These rates are much lower than those reached in many earlier tests, but no attempt was made to achieve maximum rates of heat transfer.

"The Broadmeadow mine is a punch longwall mine owned and operated by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) in the Bowen Basin of Queensland, Australia. In 1999, an exploratory adit was driven as part of the feasibility study for the establishment of the mine. Subsequent development of the mine in 2004 started some distance away from the initial test adit. Ten years later, the trial adit would be used as the headgate of the 5'h longwall panel. However, multiple roof falls had occurred in a heavily jointed area over a distance of 1, 000 ft (300 m) during the past 10 years. Due to the immediate coal roof, low stress environment and time, some of these falls had progressed to 38 ft (11.5 m) above the mining floor. As a result of the extensive work involved and safety implications of trying to recover the roof falls conventionally, a strategy was developed to fill these roof falls with a cement based product from the surface, down boreholes, and redrive the roadways through the consolidated roof fall material. This paper describes the process of rehabilitating these roadways, the results when the roadway was redriven and the headgate performance as the longwall mined through the area.INTRODUCTIONBMA operates 7 open cut and 2 underground mines in the Bowen Basin of Queensland, Australia producing over 50 mt per year of high quality coking coal. As a result, BMA has established over 150 miles (250 km) of open cut highwall.Broadmeadow Mine is a punch longwall mine located 22 miles (35 km) north of Moranbah in Queensland, Australia on the western limb of the Bowen Basin Coal Measures (Figure 1). Broadmeadow Mine commenced development in 2004 and began longwall operations in 2005. Broadmeadow is currently completing the fifth longwall panel and produces over 4 Mt per year of high quality coking coal. Mining is undertaken in the Goonyella Middle Seam, which is 21 to 25 ft (6.5 to 7.5 m) thick in the current mining area.The mine layout required the use of an old exploratory gateroad as the headgate of its 5th longwall. This gateroad had experienced numerous large roof falls and required extensive rehabilitation."

"From1927 to1989, the Hornemineproduced53.7 Mt of ore grading 6.1 g/t Au and 2.2% Cu from two large volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits composed primarily of pyrrhotite, pyrite and chalcopyrite. The ore bodies were hosted by a package of chlorite-sericitealtered epiclastic rhyolite tuffs which were deposited in a narrow palaeo-graben located on the flank of a major felsic volcanic centre. M ineralizingfluids percolated upward through the permeable footwall rocks and were further focussed along syn-volcanic, graben-bounding faults. Sulphides were deposited by a process of sub-seafloor replacement of the rhyolite tuffs.Gold-copper-(zinc) mineralization, including ore zones mined between 1985 and 1989 as the REMNOR ore zones, is present throughout the 900 m of felsic volcanic stratigraphy at the Horne. All the deposits were formed by syn-volcanic hydrothermal processes active during felsic volcanism. "This paper is based on data generated between October, 1986 and October, 1989, during the implementation of an Ecological Engineering close-out for a zinc mine in Northern Ontario, where 690000 tonnes of tailings contain 41.1% pyrite and 4.1% pyrrhotite. The objective was to determine rates of sulphide oxidation and iron precipitation in the tailings. Those rates are relevant for the assessment of the long-term effectiveness of biological systems employed in the removal of heavy metals from contaminated drainage issuing from tailings.Data were collected on the topography and stratigraphy of the tailings basin, subsurface temperatures and groundwater levels, and chemical analyses were made of water samples collected from a number of piezometers. The thickness of unsaturated tailings varied widely between individual piezometer locations; annual maxima ranged from 0.67 m to 3.55 m, and annual minima from 0 to 2.68 m. Sulphate concentrations ranged from 36 mg/L to 20180 mg/L; iron concentrations from 0.36 mg/L to 9938 mg/L; and zinc concentrations from 0.33 mg/L to 1123 mg/L.The geochemistry of the piezometer samples suggests that some of the initial Fe content, resulting from metal sulphide oxidation, is subsequently precipitated in the tailings pile and, possibly, in the underlying unconsolidated sediments, probably in the form of iron-hydroxide and Na-jarosite. Other metals such as Zn may be co-precipitated with Fe. The discharge of a portion of these metals to the environment would be delayed by this process. Some of the initial sulphate may also be lost from solution, probably by precipitation of gypsum; approximate saturation degrees for gypsum ranged from -3.27 to +0.47. The precipitated minerals will somewhat decrease the porosity and permeability of the tailings.Sulphide-oxidation rates, calculated using the analytical results and the estimated amount of annual recharge at the tailings site, average 0.0057 mol/kg/yr. Calculated iron-precipitation rates average 0.000386 mol/kg/yr. It is concluded that the characteristics of seepage from mining wastes may change with time, reflecting the solubilization of precipitated secondary minerals."

Construction of Parcels 6 and 7, the second phase of The Wharf, began in 2019 and geotechnical construction was completed by December 2020. The overall project consisted of horizontal site, parks, and office buildings. The Wharf’s Phase 2 development includes approximately 1.2 million ft2 (110,000 m2) of above-grade construction including five multi-story, mixed-use buildings constructed over up to three levels of underground parking. The site is located between the WMATA Green Line Tunnels to the north and the Washington Channel to the south; it is bisected by a 108-in. (2740-mm) diameter DC Water outfall pipe. This arrangement, along with very difficult ground conditions, created challenges in the geotechnical design and construction. The support of excavation for this complex project required several different methodologies, including sheet piles, soldier piles, displacement piles, tiebacks, deep foundation anchors, jet grouting, and internal bracing with multi-tier rakers. Ground improvement was also required for support of spread footings in soft soils over the garage footprint. Underpinning of the active 108-in. (2740-mm) diameter DC Water outfall pipe running on a north/south alignment through the center of the site between the two garage structures was also performed. Since portions of the support of excavation are below the groundwater table, an extensive pre-excavation dewatering program was necessary and was separate from the foundation package. On the north side of the project, support of excavation (SOE) was required on a curved alignment, offset approximately 10 ft (3 m) from the outbound Green Line tunnel. Due to the proximity of the tunnel, a stiff, near-zero displacement wall was required. A portion of the buildings extend over the tunnels, imparting load to the tunnels to approximately restore original overburden loads excavated for the basement space. The building foundation is a 3 to 4-ft (0.9 to 1.2-m) thick mat slab anchored into the Potomac clay formation. Continuous movement monitoring of the tunnels was performed by an automated system. This paper describes the design and construction of the SOE and foundations for this high-profile project, which required collaboration between the Owner, Engineer, Construction Manager, and Specialty Geotechnical Contractor to solve many challenges.

Until the advent of the porphyry coppers and the introduction of flotation which soon followed, crushing and grinding for many years proceeded along somewhat stereotyped lines, without important alteration in type of machinery. For the finer crushing and grinding, stamps, rolls, and various patterns of Huntington and Chilean mills were in general use. Ball-mills were in use abroad, but owing to their small capacity and the high cost of screens and steel, they never obtained much footing in the United States. Tube-mills were first introduced into the crushing departments of cyanide plants when it was found that for crushing finer than 30-mesh other types of crushing machinery were not efficient. In order to crush with one pass, these mills were made 18 to 22 ft. (5.5 to 6.7 m.) in length. Pebbles were used as a grinding medium and the mills were lined with either silex blocks or fragments of quartz or flint pebbles set in cement. While the cylindrical tube pebble-mill had been used to some extent in small installations of concentration mills, the first instance of its use on a large scale was at the concentrating plant of the Miami Copper Co., where 8-ft. by 22-in. (2.5-m. by 55.9-cm.) Hardinge mills were tried out against Chileans. The results of these experiments led to the gradual replacement of the Chilean by the Hardinge mill. Robert Franke published an article' describing the work done, comparing the two types of mills. At the same time, according to Franke, a test was run using a 6-ft. (1.8-m.) Hardinge ball-mill as a substitute for rolls for intermediate crushing on 1/2-in. material. According to Franke, this mill was soon discarded, since it was found that to obtain the desired product the mill must be limited in capacity. The Miami Copper Co. made no test with other types of ball- or pebble-mills. Following this example, others installed the conical type; and when the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Co. decided to build a concentrator, it adopted the conical mill. "The Stockman base metals project is situated in State Forest in the alpine area of East Gippsland, Victoria, adjacent to a National Park and within the headwaters of a major Ramsar-listed wetland catchment and the Murray-Darling River system. Site topography is steep, and elevated (650 m – 1200 m above sea level), and subject to circa 1 m annual rainfall, with occasional winter snowfall. The project consists of two volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits to be mined by underground methods and treated in a 1.0 Mt/a central concentrator to produce copper and zinc concentrates for export over a ten year operational life. New resource projects are rare in Victoria. Recognising the sensitive setting, planning for the Stockman Project, which is now in the advanced permitting stage, has focused on balancing economic, environmental and social outcomes to ensure social licence to operate is secured and can be maintained. This has involved close attention to triple bottom line (TBL) risks and outcomes. Stockman has successfully gained State and Federal approvals via the Environmental Effects Statement process. The process of obtaining these approvals has required close attention to effective stakeholder involvement, and management of a lengthy and difficult approvals process, which is still to be finally concluded. This paper is a case study of the process of that permitting and the issues encountered to date. Key learnings from the experience have included: successful approvals require close attention to much more than just the project and its technical aspects and physical setting – effective stakeholder involvement and endorsement is critical the differing consultation requirements for local, regional and government stakeholders, to design and plan implementation of a project to meet TBL objectives, and to gain social licence to operate within the Victorian approvals process, the need for an effective lead government agency with policy authority dealing with material policy change requiring post-closure financial sureties estimating realistic permitting time and cost during the project evaluation phase. "Abstract—Detailed oxygen isotope mapping of rhyolites in and around the Kidd Creek mine indicates that the orebodies are associated with relatively low (<12‰) whole rock values that extend up to 200 m laterally from ore. The zone of low d18O values is overlain stratigraphically by a carapace of higher (>13‰) values that extends up to 1.5 km laterally from and 300 m to 500 m above ore. Immediately above the stratigraphically highest orebody this carapace is cut by a zone of lower d18O values extending from the ore zone. Zones of higher d18O values also occur in massive rhyolite bodies that occur in the footwall of the orebodies.The zone of low d18O values partly coincides with a Na2O depletion anomaly associated with hydrothermal alteration, except that the Na2O depletion anomaly has a greater lateral extent, and the low d18O anomaly extends farther into the stratigraphic hanging wall. These data suggest that d18O mapping may detect hanging wall alteration above massive sulfide bodies more effectively than conventional lithogeochemistry. Zones of high d18O values, which define zones through which large quantities of low-temperature hydrothermal fluids have passed, may also have usefulness in exploration.Oxygen isotope variations at Kidd Creek record three stages of a hydrothermal system that evolved in temperature with time, as follows: (1) an early, low-temperature event that produced rocks with high d18O values, (2) a high-temperature event that produced rocks with lower d18O values, and (3) a later, low-temperature event that also produced rocks with high d18O values. The high d18O signature of the massive rhyolite was recorded during early-stage, low-temperature (<200°C) alteration, and was probably preserved owing to decreases in permeability associated with low-temperature silicification. The Dugald River zinc-lead deposit is located 60 km northwest of Cloncurry. It was discovered prior to 1881, and since 1937, has been the subject of several drilling programmcs which have outlined a resource potential of 60 million tonnes grading 10 per cent zinc, 1 per cent lead, and 30 g/t silver.The deposit is a classical example of stratiform zinc lead mineralization in a black shale host. It occurs within a restricted clastic sedimentary basin within the Corella Formation of Carpentarian (Middle Proterozoic) age. Sabkha, lacustrine and fluvial sedimentary environments have been recognized within this basin. Each environment is characterized by suites of evaporite mineral pseudomorphs, after both shortite and gypsum, indicating that both alkaline and hypersaline environments prevailed at different times during basin evolution. The Dugald Slates which host the zinc-&#183;lead mineralization are lacustrine in origin. Thin Mount Isa-type K-rich tuffite beds occur in the Dugald Slates and in the sabkha sequences.The basin as a whole appears not 10 have been marine, and 10 have had strong tectonic controls on its depositional history.The mineral deposit itself is conformable within the Dugald Slates and many primary sedimentary and soft-sediment deformation structures are preserved. It has a strike length of 2 km, average width of 10 m, and a westerly dip of 50-80 . Drilling suggests continuity to 1000 m vertical depth. The predominant sulphides are pyrrhotite, pyrite, sphalerite and galena in graphitic slate and quartz-carbonate ganguc. Anomalous concentrations of barium, manganese, cadmium, mercury and antimony are present in the ore.The deposit crops out over a distance of 2 km as a gossan ranging from 5-15 m in width. There is a striking vegetation anomaly over the gossanous outcrops. The gossan is enriched in lead, silver, antimony, barium, titaniulll, silica and iron, with respect to the primary mineralization. The depth of total oxidation reaches about 20 m.Cieochemical and geophysical test surveys over the deposit give pronounced anomalies.
