The Queen Charlotte gold deposit (also known as the Specogna, Babe, or Cinola) was discovered in late 1970 by Efrem Specogna and Johnny Trico. They were prospecting along the trace of the Sandspit fault, and they sampled jarositic material that included veins from the fault zone. Their assays included some good gold values. They located the Babe Claims in 1971 and optioned them to Kennco Explorations Ltd. Kennco conducted stream sediment and soil geochem studies, geological mapping and drilling of 55.2 m (181 ft) in two drill holes. Kennco withdrew from the property, and by 1977, Cominco, Placer Development, Silver Standard, and Quintana Minerals had each successively worked on the deposit. Consolidated Cinola Mines bought the claims in 1977 and completed exploration of the deposit ultimately in a joint venture arrangement with Energy Reserves. Energy Reserves entered in late 1979, and by 1983, a total of 200 surface and 12 underground drill holes had been completed, totaling 28 600 m (93,832 ft). In addition, a 461.9 m (1515 ft) adit was driven in the ore body. Reserves published by Cinola aggregate 34 Mt (37 million st) of 1.7 g (0.060 oz) Au per tonne. All industry geologists working in the area agree that the Queen Charlotte gold is an epithermal gold deposit in porous volcaniclastic and clastic rocks that is genetically related to a Miocene-Pliocene rhyolite plug. The geologic description here follows the oral presentation made by G. G. Richards, J. S. Christie, and M. R. Wolfhard at a 1976 CIM meeting. Additional comments by the late C. S. Ney of Kennco Explorations are included with the Richards, Christie, and Wolfhard data to complete the geologic set- ting. The attached reprint by Champigny and Sinclair (1 980) provides additional data on the deposit. The Queen Charlotte (Babe, Specogna, or Cinola) gold deposit is located on Graham Island in the northern Charlotte Islands, at the fault boundary of the Skidegate plateau and the Charlotte lowlands. The Sandspit fault marks the physiographic boundary, and it is intruded by rhyolite porphyry at the deposit. Because displaced geochem anomalies, drain- age patterns, and topography suggest dextral and east side down movement for the fault, exposed east block rocks are younger than rocks west of the fault. The east block, which included the ore deposit, is a lowland largely masked by unconsolidated Pleistocene and Recent clastic rocks. Rocks west of the rhyolite plug, on the Skidegate plateau, are Cretaceous carbonaceous and calcareous shale unconformably overlain by a thin veneer of rhyolite tuff. The deposit is about 100 m (328 ft) above sea level. GEOLOGIC SETTING At the ore deposit, the Sandspit fault is a complex structure. However, lithologies on either side of the fault-controlled rhyolite porphyry plug are distinct. West of the rhyolite, the upper member of the Cretaceous Haida formation shale is the most common rock type. The member is composed of dark grey to black, poorly consolidated, and thinly bedded carbonaceous and calcareous shale. The sequence is silicified to an argillite or a hornfels near the rhyolite. West of the rhyolite porphyry plug, but not importantly involved in the mineralization, is a thin masking cover of rhyolite tuff. The tuff unconformably succeeds the cretaceous shale, but it is largely eroded in the mine area. East of the fault-controlled rhyolite porphyry plug is a thick section of conglomerate and sandstone of the Miocene- Pliocene Skonun formation. The ore body occurs within the coarse clastics, the rhyolite intrusive as the western boundary. Ore is entirely contained within the clastics. Original permeability of the clastic rocks was a major control for ore deposition and alteration, and for that reason, the Skonun formation is described in greater detail. The Skonun formation clastics unconformably overlie Haida shale. The Skonun is at least 300 m (984 ft) thick in the mine area, where it trends northerly and dips easterly 15º to 25º. The sequence is about 62 percent conglomerate, 3 1 percent coarse arkosic sandstone, and 7 percent interbedded siltstone and sandstone. Contacts between adjacent beds are generally sharp. Increased catch bench crest loss has been observed in recent years at Barrick’s Cowal Gold Mine situated in central New South Wales, Australia. A project was initiated to diagnose the cause of the crest loss, and evaluate ways to limit its effect on final walls.A range of different blast measurement techniques were utilised to evaluate the progressive damage caused to catch berms by presplit, production and trim blasts. Techniques employed included; single point vibration measurement, cross-hole seismic analysis, precision berm surveys, horizontal p-wave velocity measurements, crest loss volume calculation and water level changes between blasts.Blast measurements showed that the majority of damage to the catch berm was caused by the presplit blasts, which registered vibrations greater than 700 mm/s at 5 m behind the presplit line. As a result, considerable changes were made to the blast designs after a series of computer simulations via mechanistic blast modelling (MBM). The uncharged presplit collar was increased from 2 m to 4 m, and every second hole was left uncharged. Vibration modelling using a multiple seed wave (MSW) model was used to optimise trim blast delay timing. Burden relief was changed from 16 ms/m to 27 ms/m using one hole firing per 4 ms time window, and the initiation angle was changed from shallow to steep. These changes in the presplit loading and trim timing helped reduce catch bench crest loss by 1–2 m.Trim shots using a high strength bulk emulsion explosive were also identified as contributors to berm damage after analysis of blast monitoring and MBM modelling. The modelling study resulted in the generation of alternative blast designs to minimise the crest loss, including the use of low-density/low-velocity of detonation (VOD) bulk explosive product (Flexigel™ Advantage) in trim pattern designs. This was trialled on the Northern and Eastern pit walls to evaluate the damage to catch berms on final walls. The trials demonstrated that berm vibration was reduced significantly; fragmentation was similar (or slightly blockier) compared to the fragmentation using the old blast designs; displacement of the berm was reduced, so increased catch bench widths were attained. A South African chromite sample was subjected to characterisation and physical beneficiation testwork in order to assess its suitability to produce an upgraded chromite product with a silica level of <1 per cent SiO2 and a chromite level of >46 per cent Cr2O3. Chemical analysis by XRF indicated that the bulk material had a Cr2O3 content of 40.5 per cent w/w and a SiO2 content of 7.5 per cent w/w. Combined XRF analysis with sizing data showed that the majority (~70 per cent) of the siliceous material was present in the +600 ¦m fraction while ~70 per cent of the Cr2O3 was in the -600 ¦m fraction. Qualitative mineral phase analysis by XRD indicated that the sample mineralogy was dominated by ferrian-magnesiochromite spinel ([Fe,Mg]Cr2O4) and aluminium-chromite spinel (Fe[Al,Cr]2O4), with enstatite (Mg2Si2O6), haematite (Fe2O3) and anorthite (CaAl2Si2O8) as minor phases. SEM and EMP characterisation showed that the silica was mainly present in discrete enstatite grains but lesser amounts were also present as the high silica phases plagioclase and enstatite on the edge of grains. Wet gravity separation performed on sized fractions (-600+106 ¦m size range) from the -2.0 mm (primary) ore as well as the ore that had been crushed to pass 0.6 mm (secondary) showed that stage crushing of the -2 mm +600 ¦m fraction followed by wet gravity separation upgraded the Cr2O3 grade at 70 per cent Cr2O3 recovery from ~44 per cent Cr2O3 in the primary material to 46 per cent Cr2O3 (the target grade specification) in the secondary sample. It also showed that the stage crushing of this +600 ¦m fraction at a cut-off level of one per cent SiO2 increased the cumulative Cr2O3 recovery from ~50 per cent in the primary material to ~63 per cent in the secondary sample in the same size range of -600+106 ¦m. The extent to which additional crushing could lead to improved chromite recoveries at the required chromite and silica grade target specifications was not determined. This experience demonstrates that prior to processing test work being conducted, a thorough understanding of the chemistry and mineralogy of the test sample promotes efficient and targeted processing research.

"Two continuous coal zones occurring in a 2500f t (762 m) thick section of the Upper Carboniferous Pictou Group (Westphalian C and D) have been encountered in five offshore wells drilled f or oil and gas in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. They correlate, by means of fossil spores, with thick coals of the Mabou and Inverness coalfields situated at the eastern margin of the Basin. Therefore, the presence of a large submarine coalfield of at least 18000 sq mi. (46 620 km'] is indicated. This compares with an estimated size of 14 000 sq mi. (36260 km' ) for the Sydney Coal Basin.Accessibility is provided only by the small onshore parts of the Mabou and Inverness fields, because farther offshore the coals lie too deep to be mined (below 4 OOO f t ([ 219 m)).Two near-shore coal exploration wells indicate that at Mabou Mines the younger Inverness coals occur at a mineable depth to at least 5 km from land. A structure contour map of this area shows a reserve of 125 million tons in two Inverness equivalent seams that are 8.5 ft (2.6 m) and 4.5 ft (f.4 m) thick. The Mabou coals, however, reach too great a depth close to shore to possess mineable resources.A structure contour map of the Inverness submarine area, based on mine data and one off shore seismic profile, indicates inferred mineable resources of 160 million tons, in two seams that are 7ft (2.1 m) and 4.5 ft (f.4 m) thick . A detailed deep seismic survey will be necessary to substantiate the structure and resource estimates"",Maceral and coal quality percentage diagrams of five column samples of these seams (the 7 Foot and 13 Foot Seams of Inverness Equivalents) show a bright banded coal, high in reactive macerals, which will produce a weak coke unsuitable f or metallurgical purposes. A thermal coal with a rank of H. V. ""B"" Bituminous (0.64% Ro) is present, averaging 12000 btu llb (6 660 kcai/kg), 10% ash and 6% sulphur, of which 60 to 80% is derived from pyrite.Microlithotype profiles of the major Mabou and Inverness coals show characteristic successions that can be used f or seam identification and proved valuable f or structural interpretations.The time of faulting in the major fracture zone on the eastern margin of the Gulf of St. Lawrence Basin has been deduced from coal rank variations. "IntroductionGeneralThe Genesee Coal Mine is a joint venture of Fording Coal Limited and the city of Edmonton. The mine supplies thermal coal to the Genesee Generating Station operated by Edmonton Power and is located approximately 75 km southwest of Edmonton (Fig. I).Under the terms of the joint venture agreement, Fording Coal Limited has designed and developed the Genesee Coal Mine. Fording also operates the mine which has a minimum economic life of thirty-five years. Mine development started in the spring of 1987 with the construction of the dragline erection pad and mine service complex. Major development of mining areas was carried out in 1988 with the construction of haul roads, powerlines, topsoil recovery, etc. Mining officially commenced on December 14,1988.The mine produces 1.6 million tonnes of coal per year and employs 65 people. MiningGround conditions have turned out to be very poor, as expected with the majority of the overburden in the first few years a soft lacustrine clay with minor amounts of fine-grained glacial till. To compound matters, what was expected to be a relatively uniform coal subcrop turned out to be a very irregular erosional contact.The coal mined at Genesee is a sub-bituminous Class B thermal coal with approximately 16070 ash, 21% moisture, 8300 Btu/lb and 0.27% sulphur on an as-mined basis.The primary piece of mining equipment used at the Genesee Coal Mine is a M8200 walking dragline. It has an effective operating radius of 100.6 m, a 50.5 m3 bucket, and weighs approximately 3860 tonnes yielding a ground pressure of III KN/m2•Figure 2 illustrates schematically the single pass mining sequence presently employed at the Genesee Coal Mine. The M8200 is used to lift all coal out of the cut, the coal being placed in stockpiles on the prepared pad .This method maximizes coal recovery under the conditions where spoil failures due to poor material would otherwise put men and equipment at risk. The coal is subsequently loaded by the coal shovel operating on the same bench as the M8200 dragline and delivered to the plant as required.All mined areas, as required under Alberta Legislation, are to be returned to an agricultural land capability equal to or better than that which existed prior to mining. Reclamation activities, as a result, are an important and integral part of the mining process. A complete list of the primary mining equipment deployed at the Genesee Operations appears in Table I."

"As part of the regional water authority review and upgrade of local dams a 35m x 5m x 3m wet soil mixed block was required for stabilisation of a dam wall toe in remote Victoria, Australia. Remote access, extremely poor roads and high mobilisation costs made more traditional CSM and deep mixing methods cost prohibitive. The dam required a redesign to raise the wall by 2.0m to increase water storage. Additionally, the dam required additional stabilisation to reduce the risk of liquefaction during an earthquake event. Soil testing indicated loose, cohesionless, high permeability soils to a depth of 3.0 to 3.5m across the toe of the wall. This resulted in high dam seepage through the toe of dam wall potentially causing the factor of safety during a seismic event to decrease to a dangerous level. A number of laboratory trials were completed to determine the mix ratio of cement required to improve the strength of the saturated, liquefiable soil.Wagstaff Piling was responsible for achieving the required soil/cement strength and mix depth on site. As the ground conditions were too soft for conventional soil mixing equipment, an excavator mounted Mitsui road header was modified to fit a 20 tonne excavator. A purpose built remote batching plant was set up on more stable ground approximately 200m from the wall and utilised for preparation of cement and water slurry for supply to the machine. As the ground was too soft to support the excavator, the progressively improved ground was used as the working platform. Both wet grab sampling and in situ testing was undertaken to determine the UCS of the improved soil. These results indicated several variations in the results due to size effects.1 INTRODUCTIONA small town in remote Victoria relies totally on its water supply from a small dam. The dam wall required stabilisation works by ground improvement as studies completed on the dam classified it as a high risk of failure under an earthquake event. In addition, the earth fill dam had high levels of seepage and poor control measures, requiring the dam to be upgraded to comply with all regulations.The relevant water authority engaged a contractor under a design and construct contract to complete the works. Wagstaff Piling was engaged as the Subcontractor to provide design and construction advice including the contract for the ground improvement works. Initial discussions involved CSM walls, cut-off walls and mass soil mixing solutions. However, due to the access restrictions for piling equipment, mass soiling mixing was the chosen method of ground improvement."

SUMMARY Commitment by all parties to partnering goals established early in the contract aided Affholder, Inc. in constructing 2,360m (7,700') of soft ground tunnel in Rancho Cordova, CA. Despite two zones of known contamination, encountering a zone of loose cobbles and boulders in a matrix of flowing sand, some perched water tables and a flooded tunnel after 2 upstream safety plugs failed, the Contractor finished the work 33 days early and only 1.91% over his original bid.

The B3 mine is a multiple coal seam strip mining in operation in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state in Brazil. A traditional truck & excavator operation is used to remove the overburden and selectively mine coal seams, ranging in thickness from 30 cm (1 ft) to 2.5 m (8.2 ft). Blasting is required in order to excavate part of the sedimentary rock overburden where the rock is too hard for mechanical excavation, and to mine the coal seams, selectively.

Recently Lurgi has succesfully commissioned Peru's first direct reduction rotary kiln at SIDERPERU?s Chimbote works. The order included comprehensive engineering services and supply of special equipment to modify three existing cement kilns according to the SL/RN process. The kilns were cut to 62m length and installed with a slope of 2.5%. A new heating system, including shell burners, was supplied and inlet and outlet ends of the kilns completely renewed. Figure 1 shows the kilns after modification.

D ETERMINATION of the surface area of finely divided minerals is of interest to mineral engineers engaged in flotation, comminution, and dewatering studies. In the industrial minerals field, many materials are classified as to fineness according to their specific surface (surface area per unit weight). A method of surface area determination has been tested and used in the Richards Mineral Engineering Laboratories at M.I.T. It involves low temperature krypton adsorption measurements using the technique described by Beebe.1

Monitoring slope displacement in open-pit mines can help predict collapses and prevent serious damage, injuries, and fatalities. Early detection of movement may indicate the need to modify slope geometry, initiate dewatering if the slope is wet, or consider artificial support measures such as cable bolting. Slope monitoring at the Berkeley pit was carried out with varying degrees of intensity and continuity for about 15 years. Some of the old mine records are still intact and accessible. Slope monitoring data can therefore be collected and published for the benefit of other mine operators. Because prediction of slope failures is empirical in nature, publication of several well documented case studies will be a valuable contribution to the industry. Background - Berkeley pit Open-pit mining of copper from the Berkeley pit, located on the east side of Butte, MT, began in 1955 and ceased in 1982. During that time, about 1 Gt (1.2 billion st) of material were removed to form a pit about 1.8 km wide by 2.1 km long (6000 ft by 7000 ft) at the rim, and 550 m (1800 ft) deep as measured from the high hill on the northwest side. From the south side, the pit only measures 365 m (1200 ft) deep. The Berkeley pit was first owned and operated by Anaconda Minerals Co., and subsequently by Arco. Following its closure in April 1982, the mine began to fill with water. Washington Construction purchased the property in 1986, and Montana Resources Inc. began mining to the east of the Berkeley pit in July 1986. Numerous instances of slope failure were recorded during the course of mining and several intensive geotechnical investigations were conducted in an effort to optimize the mine design. One of the last and most comprehensive studies was initiated in 1977. For purposes of geotechnical analysis, the mine was divided into nine design sectors on the basis of geologic conditions, geographic orientation, and economic importance (Fig. 1). Only two of these sectors - the concentrator and the southeast corner - are considered here. Material properties were obtained from several studies of samples collected from the mine and adjacent areas. The slope was monitored using standard surveying techniques to record the amount of movement in an area. The

"INTRODUCTION The accurate determination of the free silica index in coal mine dusts is an important requirement because severe health hazards are believed to be associated with the inhalation of respirable-sized silica particles.1-6 Free silica refers to the three polymorphs of silica (Si02)viz., quartz, cristobalite, and tridymite-although quartz is usually the dominant form in most mine dusts.6 The free silica index is the concentration in micrograms of free silica in air per m3 of air sampled corrected to standard conditions of 25°C and 760 mm/Hg, the present MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) limit on time-averaged basis being 100 µ.g/m 3 for coal mines. A recent review7 has concluded that quartz, cristobalite, and tridymite particles impart nearly equal long-term hemolytic damage when compared on a per unit surface area basis.At present, two experimental methods-viz., transmission infrared spectroscopy (TIRS) and x-ray diffraction (XRD)-are commonly used for the determination of silica concentrations in mine dusts. In TIRS, which has been adopted by MSHA and is commonly called the P7 method, the silica absorption band near 800 cm - 1 is used for quantification. However the mineral kaolinite, which is commonly present in mine dusts, also has absorption band, albeit weaker, at 800 cm- 1• To correct for this interference, one uses the stronger 915-cm -1 band of kaolinite to determine the concentration of kaolinite, and the kaolinite contribution to the absorbance at 800 cm-1 is then determined from a calibration curve, leading to the determination of silica by subtraction. In the XRD technique, usually an internal standard such as CaF 2 is used to determine the concentration of silica from line intensity measurements. XRD has the added advantage that concentrations of quartz, cristobalite, and tridymite can be determined.8•9 In an exhaustive study on the precision of the techniques ofTIRS and XRD for monitoring worker exposure,9 the conclusion has been reached that both methods measure silica within 253 of the ""true"" value 953 of the time in a single laboratory."

The presence of nickel-chromium in pig iron made fro111 Cuban oles is so well known that the word "Mayari" is unconsciously associated with it. Since 1904, when exploration of the Mayari deposits of iron ore in northeastern Cuba was undertaken, there llas been increasing interest in these ores. Tlie Transactions contain numerous references to t1ieln.l This iron ore, which is shipped to the Tinited States in the nodulizecl state, has been thoroughly tested and found very valuable; the deposit covers over 25,000 acres and there is in sight over 500,000,000 tons of ore that, by systematic mining, runs practically constant in composition. With nickel and chromium present, also titanium in sufficient quantities to attract attention, as well as extremely low phosphorus and sulfur contents, the iron founder is naturally interested in the utilization of RInpari ore for pig iron for the better grades of finishrtl iron products. The present point of coilsn~iil)tion ol ILlapri ore is at Sparrow's Poi111, where hlayari pig iron of ally desiretl coml>osition is made. The composition of the dried ore is about as follows: Iron -29 per cent., silica 3 pc.r cent., nickel 1 per cciit., chroiniun~ 1.5 per cent., alumina 11 per cent., ant1 coinbined water 13 per cent. Since 1904, when exploration of the Mayari deposits of iron ore in northeastern Cuba was undertaken, there llas been increasing interest in these ores. Tlie Transactions contain numerous references to t1ieln.l This iron ore, which is shipped to the Tinited States in the nodulizecl state, has been thoroughly tested and found very valuable; the deposit covers over 25,000 acres and there is in sight over 500,000,000 tons of ore that, by systematic mining, runs practically constant in composition. With nickel and chromium present, also titanium in sufficient quantities to attract attention, as well as extremely low phosphorus and sulfur contents, the iron founder is naturally interested in the utilization of RInpari ore for pig iron for the better grades of finishrtl iron products. The present point of coilsn~iil)tion ol ILlapri ore is at Sparrow's Poi111, where hlayari pig iron of ally desiretl coml>osition is made. The composition of the dried ore is about as follows: Iron -29 per cent., silica 3 pc.r cent., nickel 1 per cciit., chroiniun~ 1.5 per cent., alumina 11 per cent., ant1 coinbined water 13 per cent. When nodulized, the iron runs up to nearly 56 per cent., the silic:~, :tlumi~i:i, nickel, and c~llromiurn are slightly highr than the arno~l~its just given. The power plant of the Burro Mountain Copper Co. is located near Tyrone, N. M., at 5,950 ft, elevation. It is interesting because it uses the largest stationary Diesel engines in the United States. The general layout of the plant is shown in Figs. 1 and 2. The building is of steel-frame construction with hollow-tile walls and corrugated-iron roof; the floor is concrete and all windows have steel frames, making a fireproof building. The building is made to accommodate one more electric generator unit, which is being installed; also two 4,000-cu. ft. air compressors direct-connected to three-cylinder engines with the same size cylinders as the electric units. The power plant consists of two 815-kva., 60-cycle, three-phase, 6,600-volt, 180-r.p.m. generators, direct-connected to five-cylinder, two-cycle Diesel engines; the necessary circulating pumps for cooling water, cooling towers and oil storage tanks. A portion of the power is used in the same building as the generating units to run one of two 200-kw. rotary converters delivering 260-volt direct current, and a 2,500-cu. ft. air compressor, delivering air at 95 1b.-pressure, direct-connected to a 400-hp., 6,600-volt, three-phase synchronous motor. The remainder of the power is used to run a 1,500-ton concentrating mill 3 1/2 miles from the power house, various hoists, pumps and motors about the mines and the lighting and water-works of the town of Tyrone. The direct current is used for electric traction in the mine, also to run hoists and motors that were installed before the new power plant was built. Due to the large hoists that take starting peaks of 250 kw. and the 10-ton electric locomotive that takes at times 150 kw., the load is extremely variable, as shown in Fig. 3. "The existing Rondout West Branch Tunnel (RWBT) is part of the Delaware Aqueduct which has been in service since 1944 and accounts for more than 50 percent of New York City’s water supply. In early 2015, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection contracted Kiewit-Shea Constructors, AJV (KSC) to construct the Rondout West Branch Bypass Tunnel project (Rondout) in order to mitigate the leakage of 132 million L/ day (35 million gpd) of water from two areas of the existing tunnel; the Roseton and Wawarsing areas.The scope of the Bypass Tunnel 2 project is separated into two distinct phases. Phase 1 consists of completing the shaft sinking to a depth of approximately 274 m (900 ft) at shaft 5B, 213 m (700 ft) at shaft 6B and the excavation of approximately 3,850 m (12,500 linear ft) of tunnel at a diameter of 6.6 m (21 ft 7 in). This phase also includes the installation of 2,804 m (9,200 linear ft) of 4.8 m (16 ft) diameter steel interliner pipe through the new bypass tunnel with cast-in–place concrete liner for a finished diameter of 4.2 m (14 ft). Access chambers at the top of shafts 5B and 6B will be constructed for access and housing of the mechanical and electrical equipment for supporting pumps and valves.Included in phase 2 is the additional excavation from shafts 5B and 6B to the RWBT, and the drainage tunnel to remove ground water infiltration from RWBT. This work will be completed during a scheduled shutdown of the RWBT and will include approximately 31 m (100 ft) of excavation of the two connection tunnels. Additionally, construction of the permanent plugs within the RWBT will be undertaken. Figure 2 shows the layout of the work.Access to the work through the deep shaft at site 5B was critical to the success of the project. The hoisting system needed to be multi-functional to handle the different types of construction from drill and shoot of the shaft, starter and tail tunnel, the assembly of the tunnel boring machine (TBM), the excavation of the TBM tunnel including the supply of the precast segmental liner, the grouting operations, the installation of the steel interliner pipe and the cast-in-place concrete as well as ingress and egress of personnel. The production of the TBM operations was critical to the schedule of the project. This required a quick cycle for muck haulage and supply of the precast segmental liner in order to keep pace with the excavation time of the TBM. For TBM assembly, components were limited to a maximum weight of 104 t (115 st) for a single lift. Various cranes were analyzed for hoisting, however, none would meet all of the citeria. Therefore, the project team selected a specialized hoisting system designed in house in conjunction with Timberland Equipment Ltd. that consisted of a total of 14 separate hoists and winches with a total of more than 2,833 kW (3,800 hp)."
