The Green River formations in the Western U.S.A. contains vast amounts of petroleum reserves in oil shale deposits. Exploitation of this petroleum reserve calls for large scale mining of the oil shale. Applicable mining methods include conventional underground mining using roan and pillar, sub-level caving and block caving; underground insitu retorting of oil shale and open pit mining. Roam and pillar mining offers one of the most economic methods of underground mining of oil shale. A 2.4 x l09 litre per year (50,000 barrels per day) of crude oil production would require a daily oil shale production of 100,000 tomes per day from underground operations. For this large production, a highly mechanized room and pillar mining muld utilize large capacity diesel equipment such as 85 tonne trucks and 8m front end loaders. The total air requirements of an oil shale mining operations can. be as high as 28443/s. Ventilation planning for such a large scale underground mining operation presents a formidable task. The major objectives of providing ventilation air to underground workings are to dilute airborne .dust and diesel fumes to harmless levels, and to insure that the mine environment is compatible with the health and safety of mine personnel. Regulation of air velocities and air temperatures is a major factor in mine environmental control. Colorado State law requires that a minimum of 0.047m3/s of fresh air be supplied for each kW of diesel power operating underground. Additionally, 0.047m3/s of fresh air must be supplied for each underground employee, and a minimum air velocity of 0.15m/s must be maintained in all working places. It is desirable to exceed this minimum velocity in order to prevent stratification of ventilation air. Moreover, Colorado law also stipulates the maximum allowable concentration of noxious gases mine air, below: ? C02 - 0.5% by volume, 5,000 ppm. ? CO - 0.005% by volume, 50 ppm. ? Oxides of Nitrogen - 0.0025% by volume, 25ppm. ? Nitrogen Dioxide 0.005% by volume, 5 ppm. This paper examines ventilation requirements for the underground mine, with respect to air quality requirements and distribution of air in mine workings in light of the above regulations. Analyses were made for sane typical mining plans to determine airflow resistance or pressure drops and fan horsepower requirements. In addition, the possible occurrence of high concentrations of toxic gases, was examined. Expected temperature levels in mine workings were approximated.

"Los Bronces had two ROM dump leach operations designated Leach I and Leach II. Leach I was commissioned in 1998 and stopped in 2014 due to the mine requirements. Leach II plant, commissioned in early 2002, was built to treat around 700 million tons of marginal ROM ore averaging 0.45 % total copper. The mineralogy of this material was estimated to be 70% chalcopyrite, 20% chalcocite/covellite and the balance oxides.The original electrowinning plant design capacity for copper production was nominal 19,500 tonnes per year at a current density of 276 A/m2 and a current efficiency of 92%. Presently, Los Bronces San Francisco plant typically operates at current densities between 390 and 440 A/m2, much higher than the average in the industry, with current efficiencies around 93% and a maximum copper cathodes production of 37,200 tonnes per year.In order to accomplish these achievements, a number of modifications in the process conditions, in the cell hardware and in the operational procedures have been implemented. In the first case, the specific flowrate, copper concentration and temperature of the electrolyte were modified to accommodate the operational requirements facilitating the increased current density. Associated with the cell hardware, a six cells expansion was added, upgraded equipotential inner cell busbars were installed and the cross section of the cathode hanger bars was enlarged for increased current carrying capacity. Documented operational procedures like short circuit detection and cathode weight control were improved.The modifications implemented and the results obtained are discussed in this paper.INTRODUCTIONLos Bronces Division of Anglo American Chile is located up in the Andes Mountains, northeast of Santiago. It had two cathode plants, Los Bronces at an altitude of 3500 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.) commissioned in 1998 and closed in 2014 and San Francisco at an altitude of 2800 m.a.s.l. and in operation since 2002.The process is leaching run off mine (ROM) low grade copper sulphide ore in dumps. The mineralogy of this material was estimated to be 70% chalcopyrite, 20% chalcocite/covellite and the balance oxides. The average grade is 0.45% total copper (Cut).At Los Bronces dump, Leach I plant, the pregnant leach solution (PLS) was collected and stored in an underground reservoir. From there, it was fed to a solvent extraction plant with a series-parallel configuration in two extraction stages and one stripping stage. The electrolyte produced was fed to the electrowinning plant having 30 cells and 60 cathodes per cell. Maximum capacity of this plant was 12,000 tonnes per year (tpy)."

JournelIn his presentation Mr Wiik said that unrolling could be regarded as a reversal of the natural process of folding, so that the aim of an unrolling procedure would be the reconstruction of original pre-tectonic conditions. While simply formulated, this aim might not always be achieved. The geometrical relationship between points on the deformed surface and corresponding points on the original surface is process-dependent, and a true reconstruction could be achieved only if the deformation history were known in detail.In this computer unrolling procedure all these complexities were ignored. Referring to one particular marker horizon, Mr Wiik said that it was assumed in the procedure that this marker was deposited as a horizontal stratum and that it had subsequently been deformed by simple flexure-type folding.The procedure allowed the geologist to incorporate his knowledge and conception of the deposit through repeated re-contouring with dummy points. This 'manumatic' aspect of the procedure had proved invaluable, not only in resolving specific unrolling problems but also in making the system more acceptable to the geologists in general.Unrolling served towards removing what might be termed `tectonic noise' superimposed on the primary distribution patterns for regionalized variables such as metal content and orebody thickness. From this point of view, variograms derived on the basis of unrolled-plan co-ordinates should be more meaningful in terms of depositional environment than are variograms calculated from a normal map projection.Mr M. M. Oosterveld remarked that it appeared from the paper that there were problems in applying the unrolling technique to ore reserve calculation, and asked whether there were not other methods that might be used for that purpose.Mr Wiik replied that at present unrolling played only a minor role in practical ore reserve estimation within Roan Consolidated Mines, Limited. The techniques currently in use differed from one orebody to another, but in general they involved projection onto a vertical longitudinal section or a horizontal plan, with subsequent grid interpolation by means of a standard computer contouring package."

There has been disappointingly little development in the understanding of the behaviour of rock slopes in open pit mines over the past 30 years. The lack of development in general, and of robust, standardised approaches in particular, are surprising in view of the æultraÆ deep open pit mines that are being developed to depths in excess of 1000 m. Research has recently been carried out into the occurrence of zones of extension strain in open pit slopes. This showed that very large zones of extension strain can occur, and this finding represents a significant new aspect in slope stability that has not been considered before. The greatest magnitudes of extension strain occur near the toe of the slope, either in the slope itself, or in the floor of the pit. Results of the research will be presented for different slope heights, slope angles and horizontal to vertical in situ stress ratios. The magnitudes of the strains are considered to be large enough to result in fracturing of intact rock, and the fracture orientations predicted are adverse for slope stability. Fracturing that is extension in nature is common in competent, brittle rocks and often develops with some violence and little or no warning, producing easily measurable seismicity. In the slope situation, the expected physical manifestation of this behaviour would be popping off of rock slabs and plates of rock from slope surfaces and popping up of the pit floor, as well as the formation of new fractures within the rock mass. Such behaviour may cause overall slope failure, or may initiate failure, which may then be driven to overall slope failure by other influencing factors or combinations of factors. In addition to instability resulting from the fracture surfaces themselves, all induced fracture surfaces could interact with natural geological structures to facilitate formation of a significant failure surface. Case studies of slope failure in two open pits will be described. In both cases failure occurred æsuddenlyÆ after very limited amounts of deformation. In the first, the slope crest moved suddenly upwards and backwards over a length of more than 200 m, with associated instability. In the second, the horizontal displacement of the slope face was almost an order of magnitude greater than the vertical displacement and occurred æsuddenlyÆ. A recently installed seismic system is detecting events in a significant zone behind the slope face. Both pits were in the 200 m to 300 m depth range at the time of the occurrences.

INTRODUCTION Stillwater Mining Company, with its two underground, hard rock mines in South Central Montana, is the largest primary producer of palladium and platinum in the Western Hemisphere. Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) are mined from a specific zone within the Stillwater Complex, a layered mafic/ultramafic igneous intrusion, named as the J-M Reef. Over much of the J-M Reef, the economically minable, mineralized horizon is contained at typical horizontal widths of 6.5 ft to 8 ft wide. This feature of narrow mining widths has made it challenging to safely and effectively mine these areas of the J-M Reef using mechanized cut and fill and sublevel sill development mining methods. Mechanization of most or all of the steps of the mining process is important to Stillwater in the continuous pursuit of high standards in safety and health. Mechanized bolting within the J-M Reef ore production headings is an important piece of reaching these objectives. In general, metal/non-metal mining requires varied mining techniques, as compared to more traditional bedded mineral/resource deposits. Narrow vein mining is a selective mining technique that generates a minimal amount of waste material while obtaining the more valuable ore deposits. Drilling and bolting in narrow vein mining has traditionally been performed with air-powered, hand-held ?jackleg? equipment because mechanized equipment is, typically, too large for the selective narrow vein techniques. In addition, traditional hand-held pneumatic equipment provides significant flexibility for small-opening, narrow-vein developments, reducing waste rock handling and improving ore recovery management. The hand-held equipment is also relatively inexpensive to purchase. Due to its simplicity, it is also relatively easy to train operators to use hand-held equipment. Hand-held equipment has been routinely used to safely install ground support and to develop production faces in hard rock mines for many years. Although it is effective, the hand-held equipment requires operator exposure to certain inherent hazardous conditions in the active face/development mine areas. These include falling rock, tripping hazards, bending/twisting/lifting hazards, high noise levels, and chemical fumes from the hammer exhaust. Based on health and safety statistics from the Stillwater mines, operation of the rotary-percussive hand-held equipment adversely affects the long-term health of the operator?continual jackleg operation frequently results in long term damage to hearing, shoulders, arm and wrist joints, and back injuries. This reduces the quality of life for the operator and also results in higher personnel turnover rates for the mining company.

"The Blind shaft boring method is a mechanised process of excavating large diameter vertical shafts downward from the surface. It is a rotary drilling technique eliminating any requirement for personnel to enter the shaft or access underground workings during drilling and lining phases. Excavated material is delivered to surface carried by a flow of circulating fluid through the centre of drill rods. The drill assembly is suspended from a large A-frame rig and powerful winch at ground level providing vertical thrust to a hard rock cutter head. INTRODUCTION The Southern Coalfields Ventilation Shaft was constructed at a mine, 45 km north-west of Wollongong. The 5 m finished diameter (6.2 m drilled) shaft reaches a final drilled depth of 517 m, the deepest, fully lined blind bored vent shaft to date in Australia. Operated by a mining company in the Southern Coalfields, the expanding mine required a new ventilation shaft and associated surface infrastructure to service future operations. An assessment of future ventilation requirements for the coal seam operations identified a need to improve the capacity and reliability of the existing underground ventilation system in order to ensure a safe and efficient underground working environment. Installation of the new upcast ventilation shaft was determined to be the most cost effective and reliable solution to provide adequate ventilation for underground operations. The completed shaft is smooth and fully lined with steel/concrete composite liners that are hydrostatically sealed. The shaft lining is designed to meet the mine ventilation requirements for a service life of 20 years. The shaft intersects the top of the working section of the coal seam at approximately 513 m of depth. This includes the shaft collar depth and shaft bottom profiled intake section.PROJECT METHODOLOGY AND INDUSTRY BEST PRACTICE The shaft was drilled using the blind bore method, an innovative construction technique and an alternative to the traditional methods of sinking deep and large diameter shafts, such as raise boring and conventional drill and blast shaft sinking. The blind bore method allows the shaft to be drilled from the surface down without anyone having to enter the shaft or the mine during the construction process. This is by far the safest method of shaft construction and is especially suitable for difficult ground conditions where there may be unstable or water-charged strata. As this method involves drilling from the surface downward, shafts can be completed ahead of the underground mine development. Thus, allowing underground operations to focus on development and production without the conflicts of managing ventilation priority for underground contractors and mucking out spoil from excavation workings."

There is no substitute for discipline and, in this connection, under present conditions it is important that cooperation by the labor organizations be sought and that a spirit of fairness prevail. Frequent and thorough inspection of all active working places should be made.

THE committee in charge of arrangements for the meeting of the Institute in September has com-pleted its program. The headquarters of the meeting will be at the Palace Hotel, San Francisco, and the registration committee will be at the hotel all day on Sunday, Sept. 24, and from 8 a.m. until noon on Monday. On Sunday afternoon, automobiles will be available for sightseeing trips around the city. Monday will be devoted to technical sessions. In the morning, there will be sessions on Mining and on Iron and Steel; in the afternoon, sessions on Mining and Milling. At these sessions, in addition to the papers mentioned in the tentative list printed in August, there will be presented three papers on the geology, mining and milling of the Comstock lode; one on the Aztec mine, Baldy, N. M.; one on the Colombian oil fields; and one on charcoal precipitation of cyanide solutions. The luncheon on that day will be Dutch Treat, for men only, at the Engineers Club. On Monday evening, there will be an informal buffet supper at the home of F. W. Bradley. On Tuesday morning, a party of 50 men will leave for Hetch Hetchy. During the four days of the trip, the party will see the Priest tunnel and earth dam under construction by steam-shovel and hydraulic-fill methods, the Big Creek shaft and tunnel, early intake power plant and tunnels and the Hetch Hetchy dam under construction. For those who remain in San Francisco, Tuesday will be "San Francisco Day." There will be motor trips to the Presidio, Cliff House, Golden Gate Park, and other points of interest, and shopping trips to Chinatown. On Wednesday, "University of California Day," the party will be guided through the university by members of the Mining Association, the affiliated stu-dent society, and will see the Greak Theatre and not-able buildings. Thursday will be "Leland Standford, Jr. University Day." Automobiles will leave the Palace Hotel at 10 a.m., and will return from the university at 4.30 p.m. Friday has been reserved for trips to the Selby Smelter, to Mt. Tamalpais, or to other points of interest. Arrangements will be made to visit the mines or gold dredges in California, if members desire to do so, but such trips must of necessity be considered special trips and arrangements will have to be made to suit the convenience of the individual or party. The Golf Committee will make arrangements for those who wish to play golf.

"Speakers and attendees of the 2016 Cutting Edge Conference could not be faulted for keeping one eye on the presentations taking place at the Hyatt Regency at LAX in Los Angeles, CA on Nov. 7 and 8 and another on the results of the historic election in the United States that took place on Nov 8. While there was certainly interest in the presidential campaign, there was also a great deal of interest in Measure M on the California ballot. Measure M, which passed easily, is a half-cent sales tax increase that will fund the most ambitious transit expansion in Los Angeles County history.In the coming years, the ballot measure will transform a traffic-choked region by funding the construction of nearly a dozen new rail lines with an estimated $120 billion raised in four decades. Among the projects that could come to fruition are a twin-rail tunnels project through the Sepulveda Pass and new connections in the city.During the update on West Coast projects, Bill Hansmire summed things up with a slide asking “How much work is there on the West Coast,” and his answer was “Billions.”From Seattle, WA south to Los Angeles, there is already a lot of work for tunneling and underground construction experts, and Measure M ensures that there will be plenty of work for decades to come.Currently, The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) has three rail projects underway that were funded by Measure R in 2008 — the Regional Connector, the Purple Line subway extension and the Crenshaw/LAX Line that are designed to alleviate the traffic pressure with an eye to more solutions.Measure M is the fourth sales tax increase to fund transportation in L.A. County, bringing the base sales tax rate to 9.25 percent. In some cities, which already levy their own sales tax, the rate would be higher, The Los Angeles Times reported.About 35 percent of the revenue will fund major new transit projects, such as the subway under the Sepulveda Pass, extension of the Gold Line to Claremont, extension of the Crenshaw Line to West Hollywood and acceleration of the Purple Line Subway construction along Wilshire Boulevard to finish in 2024, 10 years earlier than scheduled.About 17 percent would fund a dozen highway improvement projects, such as widening parts of I-5 in the Antelope Valley and southeastern county, adding bus lanes to the Sepulveda Pass section of the 405 freeway and adding truck-only lanes to a section of the 710 freeway."

Slope stability analysis plays an integral role in the design of various mining applications including waste dumps, heap leach piles, solution ponds, and tailings dams. Generally, limit equilibrium analysis using one of the several prevalent approaches is considered adequate. The density, saturation, and shear strength parameters of the materials forming the slope affect the failure mode and the calculated factor of safety (FS) against sliding. These parameters are generally based on laboratory tests. Field practices and construction procedures are often not completely simulated in the laboratory for various reasons (e.g. equipment limits, time and budget restraints, etc.). This paper presents a holistic assessment of slope stability analysis as practiced in mining applications, using example data from multiple heap leach projects. A sensitivity analysis is presented for variations in material properties, data interpretation, and computation methods. For each step in the design process, the possible variations in parameter values were identified and then used to perform traditional and probabilistic stability analyses. This simple, cradle-to-grave-type approach is used to evaluate the reliability of an example design, and the combined impact of multiple uncertainties on the factor of safety. Example Study The issue of addressing uncertainty in geotechnical design has been discussed in depth by numerous authors (Duncan 2000; Christian 2004; Whitman 1984; Christian et al. 1993). One may ignore the uncertainties involved in a design, take a conservative approach, rely on observational methods (Peck 1969), or attempt to quantify the uncertainty. Geotechnical projects in general, may include a combination of these methods. For important structures, such as heap leach pads, it is critical that sources of uncertainty in the stability analysis be acknowledged early on and considered in the overall design approach. As with any project, economics and other physical constraints, such as space limitation, often do not always allow for an overly-conservative, robust design. In an effort to quantify uncertainty and provide a sense of level of confidence in the safety and reliability of a design, probabilistic methods have been developed and implemented in many slope stability software packages. Reliability methods are often used in the design of open pit mine slopes, but not as commonly in designing heap leach pads and waste dumps. As an example, the stability analysis of a copper heap leach project is presented here to evaluate the effects of multiple sources of uncertainty and differing methods of data interpretation. Some of the parametric values, or the variation therein, are assumed on the basis of actual data from multiple heap leach projects, included in the paper as well. A generic representation of the example case study is shown in Figure 1. As depicted in the cross-section, the ultimate height of the design is 114 m (measured from the crest to the toe). The overall slope of the heap leach pad is 1.88 horizontal to 1 vertical (1.88H:1V), or 28°. The slope benches are considered in the overall slope. The example leach pad is founded on alluvial, colluvial and residual soils overlying weathered limestone. The ore to be placed on the pad is characterized as poorly graded gravel (GP) with average fines content (percent passing #200 sieve) of 4%. The liner subgrade is low permeability (fine) soil. The cover or the drainage material, placed directly above the geomembrane (between the liner and the ore), is crushed ore in this case. The phreatic surface was assumed to be 1 m above the base liner, which is what the collection system over the liner is typically designed for. [ ] In heap leach pads, typically, Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) or High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) is used as the base liner. The decision is based on the elongation, strength and other requirements of the application as well as economic considerations. In this example study, the base liner was 80-mil single-side textured LLDPE. FIELD INVETIGATION AND SAMPLING When selecting appropriate values for the input parameters of the stability analysis, the level of uncertainty in the data and the assumptions that are made must be clearly identified and considered in the design. This concept has been emphasized through an extensive number of publications regarding geotechnical uncertainty and reliability (Christian et al. 1994; Duncan 2000; Christian 2004). The primary source of uncertainties involved in slope stability analysis for mining applications is inadequate geotechnical investigation, often lacking in a thorough assessment of in-situ material characterization and sampling disturbances. To emphasize this point, some background information is presented here. The tradeoff between the costs of a thorough site investigation versus the risks of design uncertainty has long been a challenging management decision in geotechnical projects. For mine sites, significant investment is typically made in exploration and estimating mineral resources and the geology of a mine site is often more thoroughly documented than other types of geotechnical projects. Nevertheless, the engineering properties of the soil and rocks relevant to slope stability receive less emphasis. Baecher and Christian (2003) observed that the areas of geotechnical concern, such as slopes and waste disposal facilities, are usually associated with mine costs rather than revenue, and therefore, significantly less money is devoted to their site characterization and laboratory testing. "Violent damage to overlying strata can occur above the large mined-out space left by high-intensity longwall mining. For the safe mining under the aquifer and surface water body, it is imperative to investigate the criteria of overburden failure degree due to high-intensity mining. In this paper we present the characteristics of high-intensity longwall mining panels and overburden critical failure. Based on the geological and mining conditions of a high-intensity mining panel, 3D numerical models that consider the maximum horizontal principal stress and minimum horizontal stress and their orientations with the panel advance direction were established by using the 3DEC software. Sizes of the panel reaching the critical failure of the overburden under different mining thicknesses (3.5 m, 6.5 m, 9.5 m, 12.5 m, and 15.5 m) were analyzed. Further, criteria of overburden critical failure were proposed for the high-intensity mining. The coefficient of overburden critical failure (Cf) is the ratio of the strike length (Ls) to the mining depth (H). Through curve fitting analysis, a fitting equation between Cf and mining thickness was obtained. The results showed that overburden failure criterion with high-intensity mining panel is 0.38 = Cf = 0.97 with different thicknesses. Field measurements validated the results from the numerical models.INTRODUCTIONHigh-intensity longwall mining refers to a coal mining method with thick coal seam, large panel width, fast face advance rate, and severe damage to the overburden and surface in China (Guo et al., 2018). Violent movement of the roof rock and severe damage to overlying rock strata occur in the large mined-out space left by a high-intensity longwall mining panel, which is a 3D (three-dimensional) structure layout with highly non-uniform stress distribution. Recognition of such fact a will facilitate this overlying rock strata failure problem investigation (Peng et al., 2019).The studies of overlying strata failure due to longwall coal mining have been reported by some scholars with different methods. Kang et al. (2018) studied the sudden massive roof collapse during longwall coal retreat mining by a large-scale two-dimensional physical model and a UDEC numerical model. Ghabraie et al. (2015) researched the mining-related strata movement by applying the three-dimensional laser scanner, optical transducer, and digital image processing techniques to two-dimensional physical models. Wang et al. (2015) analyzed the structural characteristics and fracture failure process of overlying hard and thick main roof by a 3DEC numerical model; this study also investigated the geostress reduction and permeability enhancement redistribution of the adjacent coal measure strata by FLAC3D. Guo et al. (2012) performed a three-dimensional finite element analysis and shared some insights into the dynamic interaction between mining induced strata stress changes, failures, and gas flow patterns. Meng, Shi, and Li (2016) proposed a 3D coupling model between stress and permeability, investigating the dynamics of a stress, permeability coefficient using FLAC3D. Khanal, Guo, and Adhikary (2019) used the 3D numerical modelling approach (COSFOW) to investigate the strata deformation and the change in permeability in the overburden strata due to the underground extraction. However, few studies considered the influence of the horizontal stress on overburden failure in a high-intensity longwall mining panel, and the critical failure criteria of overlying rock strata is unclear."

"One of the ways to increase the bearing capacity of a piled foundation is to take into account soil resistance in the base of the raft. Piled raft is similar to shallow foundation and can transfer significant part of the load into the base. It allows reducing number of piles in the foundation or shortening their length. As a result building terms and foundation costs reduce considerably. However, nowadays in Belarus there is no reliable and suitable in design practice methods of calculation of piled-raft foundations. In order to devise such methods we have analyzed the results of piled foundation tests fulfilled by various authors up to date and have carried out series of field and laboratory investigations in Minsk. The most important results of the investigations are provided in the article. Methods of analysis of piled-raft foundations are described.INTRODUCTIONPile foundations of late years are used extensively in connection with the increased number of storeys and load increment on the soil. Often pile foundations are applied in comparative favorable ground conditions at the surface of the base. In such cases the increase of the bearing capacity of foundations and the reduction of construction cost are questions of primary importance for designers. One of the ways to increase the bearing capacity of a piled foundation is to take into account soil resistance in the base of the raft. As a result, building terms and foundation costs are reduced considerably. However, nowadays there is no reliable and suitable in design practice methods of calculation pile foundations with bearing rafts. In order to devise such methods we have analyzed the results of piled foundation tests fulfilled by various authors up to date and have carried out series of laboratory and field investigations.Long before the constitution of the first piled-raft foundations in the Soviet Union there were attempts to consider soil resistance in the basis of isolated and strip grillages. Such bases can be considered as separate fragments of the piled-raft foundation. Prof. A. A. Bartolomey had tested more than 70 pile foundations of natural size in different ground conditions. The length of piles was 3 12 m (?????????? 1995). The observed results show that the raft carries about 10 12% of the total load applied when length of piles is over 9 m and space between piles is a=3d. Bearing capacity of the raft is about 35 40% when the length of piles is 5 8 m and a=6d. Prof. Golubkov has tested 2 prismatic piles (cross section: 350x350 mm, L=3800 m) and 2 pyramidal piles (cross section: head - 600x600 mm, foot – 100x100 mm, L=3000 m). One of the piles was tested with a raft and the other one without a raft. Significant influence of the raft on total bearing capacity was determined, the more the settlement was the more it influenced on the raft. Bearing capacity of the raft was 27,5% in foundation with prismatic pile and 42% with pyramidal pile (???????? et al. 1971)."
