"The leaching kinetics was studied during leaching of indium-bearing zinc oxide to recover indium. The effects of temperature, sulfuric acidity, particle size, stirring rate on dissolution rate of indium were investigated. Results showed that the leaching process was controlled by chemical reaction at the condition of low sulfuric acid concentration. While the acidity increased to 1.8 mol/L, the leaching process was transformed into an internal diffusion controlling model . The corresponding value of reaction orders under low acidity and high acidity were 1.194, 0.156, respectively. Further calculation results indicated that the leaching reaction activation energy was only 10.97kJ/mol under the condition of high acid. The leaching rate constant was inversely proportional to the square of particle size, while the effect of stirring rate on leaching process was insignificant. The leaching process can be enhanced by increasing the temperature and acid concentration, as well as the decrease of particle size. And a final kinetics eqution was proposed. Therefore, the extraction of indium should take into account of the production technologies of those minerals to comprehensively recover the valuable metals."

The flotation performance of kaolinite in laboratory micro-flotation was investigated with 3- (dodecyloxy) propan-1-amine (ON12) as the collector. Compared with dode cylamine (DDA), which is commonly used as the bauxite reverse flotation collector, ON12 shows stronger collecting ability for kaolinite than using the same amounts of DDA, when experimental pH value reaches more than 6. With the addition of ON12, the isoelectric point of kaolinite shifts to 6.1 from 3.6, which suggests a strong adsorption between kaolinite and ON12. Infrared spectra analysis indicates that the type of ON12 adsorbed on the kaolinite surface is mainly of electrostatic adsorption. Molecular dynamics simulation further indicate that electrostatic adsorption of ON12 cation on kaolinite (001) surface based on electrostatic interaction between NH4+ and O atoms. ON12 will be suitable for bauxite reverse flotation with the efficiency depressors of the diaspora.

Coal Water Mixtures (CWMs) are densed suspensions of coal particles in water. Viscosity is one of the most important rheological properties of CWMs and it is desired to be as low as possible. The slurry viscosity was influenced significantly by additive formation, the particle size distribution and the ash content of the coal. However, the influence of dispersants is most obvious. At present, there are several kinds of dispersants such as polymeric styrene sulfuric sodium, lignin sulfonate, humate, polycarboxy salt, ethylene epoxide surfactant. In this paper, a newly synthesized CWM dispersant has been reported, which is an efficient anionic surfactants of polycarboxylic acid type. The synthesis process includes three steps. At the beginning, the polyglycol acetate ester has been performed by acetic acid and polyethylene glycol (PEO) on the condition of acetic-acid/PEO ratio 1:1.1, at 368~373K for 30 minutes. Then the macro-monomer is prepared through the esterification of 85.71% acrylic and 14.29% polyglycol acetate ester, at 368~373K for 10 minutes. After that, the polycarboxylic acid CWM dispersant is polymerized using proper proportion macro-monomer, acrylic (AA) and sulfonic styrol sodium, at 368~373K for 1 hour. This new dispersants are used in the coal water mixtures formulation. Four kinds of coal used in the experiment are Shuang Yashan, Tunliu, Luning, Changcun samples. ? The highest concentration for shuanyashan coal is 70% when the dosage of dispersant is 0.4%, and the content of -200 meshes particles is 75.53%. As the dosage of dispersant de-creases to 0.25%, the Shangyashan CWM concentration is 67%. ? For Tunliu coal CWM concentrations are in the range of 76% to 75% when dosage of the dispersant changes from 0.4% to 0.25% at the same particle size distribution of 83.5% minus 200 meshes. ? The highest concentration for Luning coal is 69% when dosage of the dispersant is 0.4%, and the content of -200 meshes particles is 88.86%. ? For Changcun sample, the coal concentration of CWM is 73%~75% when dosage range of the dispersant is 0.35%~0.5%. The experiments show that the synthesied dispersant is quite promising for some coals CWM preparation, but a little bit coal-dependent. The Proximate and Ultimate analysis, surface characteristic measurement have been made to investigate the interactions between coal and additives.

"Drilling solid waste is a typical industrial solid waste, and it is a major pollutant source to ecological environment. Generally, waste management dewatering systems separate solids and fine particles from the liquid phase of drilling fluid, thereby leaving a clarified aqueous solution and allow the cleaning of waste fluids. Typically, dewatering waste management systems clean drilling fluid through coagulation, flocculation and/or mechanical separation. Chemicals used in dewatering are based on the coagulation-flocculation process, which it facilitate the removal of suspended solids and colloidal particles. The factors which can promote the coagulation-flocculation are velocity gradient, contact time, and PH. The objective of this work is to optimize a formulation adequate for dewatering based on the coagulation-flocculation process used coagulant (Aluminum sulphate), anionic flocculants (Partially Hydrolyzed Polyacrylamide) and anionic polyelectrolytes (in solid form with linear chain with very high molecular weight). The results obtained show the good efficiency of the coagulant and flocculants. INTRODUCTION Rig site dewatering of drilling fluids with recycling of processed water can help an operator to comply with environmental rules by reducing volumes of waste and reducing long term liabilities. It can also reduce disposal costs and provide a cleaner drill site overall. Most of the environmental concerns during the 1980s involved hazardous materials and toxic wastes. Drilling fluids, many of which are chemically benign, have escaped many of the difficult-to-comply-with rules and regulations. During the 1990s, however, operators may be required to submit a written plan for liquid waste reduction for even nonhazardous materials. Many states and local agencies may institute total bans on oil field wastes. Drilling rigs typically produce about 1 bbl of liquid waste for every 1 ft of hole drilled. Thus, a typical drilling operation can produce a large quantity of waste [1]. To improve the dewaterability of sludge, different pretreatment processes have been widely studied and developed including thermal, chemical, magnetic, mechanical, acoustic, electric, electro-acoustic and their hybrid treatment processes [2]. Rig site dewatering (figure 1) is the process of injecting coagulants or flocculating chemicals into the mud entering a large clarifying centrifuge. Coagulation occurs when the solid and allowing it to be attracted to other solids by van der waals forces. Flocculation is the binding of individual solid particles into aggregates of multiple particles. It is physical, rather than electrical, and occurs when one segment of a flocculating polymer chain absorbs simultaneously onto more than one particle [3]."

"Apatite is an important host mineral in igneous and metamorphic rocks for production of phosphate fertilizers and phosphoric acid, and a potential source of rare earth elements (REE) production. For dissolution of REEs, sulfuric acid is better leaching reagent to develop the economical viable process for recovering of rare earth elements from apatite ore. However, the efficiency of rare earth elements dissolution in H2SO4 is about 30 % due to the formation of calcium phosphate or calcium sulfate as precipitate. On the other hands, phosphorus is mainly produced from phosphate ore. However, when treating rare earth elements containing phosphate ore, rare earth elements were discharged. Hence, development of novel apatite ore treatment process is required for effective utilization of natural resources. In this study, apatite deposit associated with REE was treated with sulfuric acid leaching and two stage precipitation by oxalic acid (C2H2O4) and magnesium chloride (MgCl2) for recovering REE and phosphorus, individually. Results showed that it can be seen the vast majority of La (87.5%), Ce (87.3 %), Pr (86.1 %), Nd (85.2 %) and Y (90.9 %) were dissolved in 1 mol/L diluted H2SO4 solution from the apatite ore. As average leaching rate of REE, over 85% of REE were leached by the condition. In the first stage precipitation using the obtained pregnant leach solution from leaching, over 90% of REE was precipitated by oxalic acid addition after controlling pH to 1 by NH4OH solution. After pH changed to 8.5, over 90% of phosphorus was recovered as precipitate by magnesium chloride addition in second stage precipitation"

By means of natural sedimentation, two different bentonite samples from Shandong province were purified, this paper studies the Hydro-properties of the two purified montmorillonite samples. Firstly, the layer charge of two purified montmorillonite samples were calculated by crystal structure formula reckon method and general hydro-properties were also measured. The research results showed that the layer charge of montmorillonite correlated well with its hydro-properties: mont-morillonite with lower layer charge had better hydro-properties, such as Mont-1, which had higher swelling volume and gelling value with lower CEC; while, montmorillonite with higher layer charge had worse hydro-properties, such as Mont-2, which had lower swell volume and gelling value with higher CEC; it proves that the hydro-properties of montmorillonite depends on its layer charge characteristics, layer charge characteristic is the inherent factors deciding the hydro-properties of montmorillonite, montmorillonite with lower layer charge has better hydro-properties than the one with higher layer charge. In this paper, the relation between the medium condition and colloid performance of Mont-1 are also studied. The results show that the hydro-properties of Mont-1 could be changed by changing slurry concentration (w/w) and shear rate or adding certain amounts of inorganic cation electrolytes, dispersants and surfactants. The viscosity of montmorillonite slurry could be enhanced by increasing slurry concentration,adding univalentcation electrolytes (less than 4% w/w) or proper amounts of dispersants and surfactants (less than critical micelle concentration); The slurry viscosity could be reduced by decreasing slurry concentration, increasing shear rate, adding proper bivalent (more than 4% w/w) cation electrolytes or proper quantities of dispersants and surfactants (more than critical micelle concentration).

"At present kimberlite ore is processed in crushers or grinding rolls with subsequent grinding in wet mills down to a size of 0.2 mm. The basic disadvantage of the standard diamond processing technology is that crushing kimberlite ore can damage the most valuable large diamonds of few carats. Tagged neutron method offers a possible solution to this problem. It allows detecting diamond inside kimberlite ore without its disruption. The results of the tests of the neutron separator prototype carried out at the Lomonosov processing factory of PJSC Severalmaz are discussed. The possibility to detect the diamond in the rock whose size is 10 times larger than the size of the diamond is demonstrated.INTRODUCTION At present standard diamond processing technology implies disintegration of kimberlite ore in crushers or grinding rolls down to a size of 0.2 mm. It inevitably leads to high probability that large and most valuable diamonds could be damaged. The fraction of diamonds which lost integrity in the process of ore enrichment could be as large as 35-65% [1]. Tagged neutron method (TNM) [2] offers a possible solution to this problem. It allows detecting diamond inside kimberlite ore without its disruption. The main idea of the TNM is irradiation of an object by fast 14.1 MeV neutrons from binary nuclear reaction d + 3H ?4He + n (1) and detecting (tagging) the 4He (a-particle) that accompanies neutron. That gives possibility to determine direction of the neutron momentum. Those tagged neutrons irradiate kimberlite ore under investigation and produce gamma rays via inelastic scattering reactions with nuclei"

The fourth iron ore production plant at Golgohar mining and industrial company consists a ball mill and wet medium intensity magnetic separators (3500 Guss). The ball mill product applies directly into MIMS and the MIMS concentrate directly transfers to the low intensity magnet separators (LIMS). The thickener is used for dewatering of MIMS and LIMS tailings. By sampling from streams of ball mill and separators, it was defined that the grade and iron recovery were 60% and 80% respectively while they would be 66% and 90% respectively based on the designing documentation. The average of P80 in the ball mill was 342 micron in a month that is coarser than optimized value. This problem was related to unsuitable operation of grinding. For optimization of grinding efficiency, the amount of charge volume was investigated as a variable. The measurements illustrated 32% charge volume. For increasing grinding efficiency, the charge volume was increased 1% and 1.6% in two stages. The results showed ball mill power draw average reached from 3650 kw to 4120 kw and the average P80 reached to 329 micron. All of parameters calculated about 35 day before and after change. Average of Ball mill feed iron ore grade before and after change was 49.24% and 50.32% respectively. This change caused an increase in efficiency of MIMS, where the enrichment ratio and concentrate grade increased 2% and 1.9% respectively. For increasing the iron grade of the MIMS concentrate; the orifice of the tail flow exit pipe changed from 4 inch to 6 inch and the concentrate grade increased 2%.

"Materials being the feed to mineral dressing plants are the mixture of ore minerals having different physicochemical properties among others, especially susceptibility on crumbling. During exploitation of material and their preparation to communition the big number of narrow classes comes into being and they have different properties. The determination of common communition laws of multicomponent (on account of size and mineralogy) materials leads to the estimation of mutual influence of narrow classes and their rates, taking into account their endurance and mineral density, on general ratios and their simultaneous crumbling.If we try to accept the grain membership to the certain component as the differing feature, we can write the balance equation as: ( ) ( ) S= = k i i i g x p f x1where: fi – density functions of one type distribution and of different statistical moments (characterising the homogeneous materials grinding), pi – “stirring” proportions of each components, S== k i i p 1 1 . From the point of verification view of detailed versions of this equation the inverse operation should be done: in the base of the components’ mixture grinding results and the results of components grinding the legitimacy of equation should be checked.The using of finished distribution mixtures’ theories to the grinding process analysis allows, first of all, to verify the assumption of grinding independence of individual feed components. Talking more generally it would lead to the comparison of grain size distributions, obtained by individual components grinding from the defined in the mixture distributions theory calculations. Over the last twenty years CETEM has been involved in the preparation and certification of reference material from ores, concentrates and related materials for use in analytical laboratories associated with mining, metallurgy and earth sciences. CETEM provides reference materials from mineral samples, not available from the existing sources, to meet the needs of the mining and mineral industry. CBPA-1 and CBPA-2 respectively are samples of copper sulphide ore and flotation concentrate, both originated from Sossego Mine, located in Pará State, Brazil. The batch characterization was carried out by a collaborative measurement program with participation of 20 industrial, commercial and government laboratories from South America, North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. The certificates and report were issued in December 2007 (http://www.cetem.gov.br/ mrc/ing). The objective of this paper was to describe the procedures for material preparation and the collaborative approach involving a collaborative interlaboratory measurement program to certify CBPA-1 and CBPA-2.

"The present paper summarises the results of gravity pneumatic concentration of a borax ore with 17.5 % B2O3. The sample was extracted from the Tincalayu ore deposit located in the Salta Province of Argentina.The applied methodology was based on a former study (Zuleta, 1985). It consisted of sample characterization by means of physical and mineralogical determinations, chemical analyses as well as pneumatic table concentration tests. In this, a simplified concentrating flowsheet was utilized.A concentrate with 30.6 % B2O3 and 74.7 % recovery was obtained. The recovery was 8.8 % less than previously reported and that was of 30.6 % B2O3 with 87 % recovery. Nevertheless, the simplified flow sheet presented processes only two granulometric fractions, - 6.4 mm + 0.3 mm and - 0.3 mm, compared to the three granulometric fractions used in the previous study: - 6.4 mm + 1.4 mm; - 1.4 mm + 0.3 mm and . 0.3 mm. This would simplify industrial implementation."

"Acid leaching in agitated tanks is central to hydrometallurgical processing for valuable metals’ (e.g., copper, gold, nickel and cobalt) recovery from low grade (e.g., < 2 wt.%) ores. In this study, atmospheric leaching behaviour of Australian saprolitic nickel (Ni) laterite ore using sulfuric acid was investigated under isothermal, batch conditions at pH 1. The effect of primary process variables comprising time (4 h) and temperature (70 and 95 oC) on the leaching mechanisms and kinetics was established for -2 mm, low grade (~1 % Ni) saprolitic ore dispersions at 40 wt.% solid loading. Leaching proceeded incongruently, reflecting the proliferation of gangue minerals’ constituent elements (e.g., Mg, Al, Fe) alongside Ni and Co in the pregnant leach solutions (PLS). Subsequent analysis showed that 89% Ni and 78% Co were extracted after 4 h at 95 oC whilst at 70 oC the recoveries of these metals were markedly low (< 25 %). Overall, 177 and 644 kg H2SO4 /t dry ore were consumed at 70 and 95 oC, respectively. Activation energy of 79.0 ±1.0 kJ/mol was estimated for the mechanism of Ni and Co leaching and associated kinetics. Particles size analyses indicated that when the breakage of frail laterite particles due to shear is taken into consideration, differences in feed and leached product particle size distributions were insignificant , despite a remarkable increase in BET specific surface area of the product. Mineralogical analyses of the feed ore and leached solid products revealed a sub-crystalline silica phase enrichment of the latter. The overall results suggest that the mechanism of acid leaching of saprolitic Ni laterite may be described by a chemical reaction-controlled, shrinking core model."

In diamond ores processing, final waste tailings size, rejected to dump, is one of the most important parameters. On one side, it is necessary to minimize losses of diamonds, whose size exceeds 1 mm, on the other side ? to provide for the plant high throughput and sufficiently low capital and energy costs, which is in greater part connected with disintegration process. Extensive laboratory, pilot-scale and commercial-scale dressability studies of different types of diamond ores have been performed at JSC ?Mekhanobr Engineering? in recent years. With that, special consideration was given to determination of the required ores? disintegration size that would provide for a high recovery of diamonds. In diamond ores processing, in order to exclude breaking of large diamonds, stage disintegration is used with regrinding of light fractions and heavy fraction X-ray fluorescent separation tailings. On account of rather weak bonds of diamonds with enclosing minerals, in crushing and grinding of diamond ores, selective disintegration takes place, with aggregates? breakup along plane surfaces of least bonding, which facilitates liberation of diamonds and their transition to free state. Heavy components losses with different sizes of final dump tailings were studied in processing of large samples. It was established, that in order to almost completely exclude losses of heavy components over 1 mm size, light fractions had to be ground to 2.5-3 mm size, while X-ray fluorescent separation heavy tailings of -15+3 mm size do not contain diamonds larger 1 mm in aggregates, and their regrinding does not increase total recovery of diamonds. On the basis of the conducted studies, relationships regarding heavy components and diamonds losses with respect to diamond ores final disintegration size were obtained, providing for more rational organization of the ores disintegration and processing flow sheet. "The paper describes the results of the study of gold-copper flotation concentrate atmospheric oxidation at different sizes of material, varying oxidation time, with air or oxygen blow. The study showed the low rate of sulphide oxidation during oxidation of flotation concentrate at a feed size (P98 -74 µm). The coppery recovery into solution was 48%; the recovery of gold by subsequent cyanidation reached 86%. Preliminary flotation concentrate grinding to P98 -20 µm provided oxidation of 90% of copper minerals, 80% of arsenopyrite and 15% of pyrite. The gold recovery by atmospheric oxidation of a fine-ground flotation concentrate increased by 59%, from 36% to 95%, the NaCN consumption reduced by 21 kg/t, from 30 to 9 kg/t. INTRODUCTION Processing of sulphide gold-copper ores and concentrates using conventional cyanidation technology results in higher reagent consumption and lower gold recovery. Destruction of sulphide minerals and extraction of copper from a processed product prior to cyanidation is essential for improving efficiency of precious metals recovery and reducing main reagents consumption. Atmospheric oxidation (AO) is one of the most promising hydrometallurgical methods of refractory gold-copper concentrates processing, along with biooxidation and pressure oxidation. The nature of this approach lies in oxidation of sulphides at 90-95°C, in acidic or alkaline conditions, with bubbling of oxygen or air, after preliminary ultrafine grinding (1-4). The following reactions of sulphide oxidation occur during atmospheric oxidation of a gold-copper flotation concentrate. Pyrite is oxidized with the formation of ferric sulphate (1) and elemental sulphur at low temperatures (2), whereas some portion of elemental sulphur reacts to form sulphuric acid: FeS2+3,75O2+0,5H2O=0,5Fe2(SO4)3+0,5H2SO4; ?G=-1144,02 kJ/mol (1)"

"The metallogenic rock of a sandstone-type Cu ore is arkose-quartzite as well as siltstone and the cement is composed of argillaceous minerals including sericite, chlorite, etc. and carbonate minerals including calcite, dolomite, etc. A detailed process mineralogy study on this complex copper ore was carried out using MLA combined with traditional research methods. According to the results, there are many types of Cu minerals including copper sulfideminerals, secondary copper sulfideminerals, copper oxideminerals, copper carbonate hydroxide minerals and copper silicate minerals in the ore. Based on the occurrence of Cu, the copper existing as copper sulfide minerals (bornite, chalcopyrite and chalcocite) and copper oxide mineral (malachite) which have a good floatability accounts for 49.28% while the copper (chrysocolla) hard to be recovered by flotation and the copper existing in the cement (sericite, chlorite, psilomelane and limonite) accounts for 48.65%, and the copper existing in the carbonate minerals (calcite and dolomite) accounts for 1.72%. The process mineralogy study indicates that the process "beneficiation combined with hydrometallurgy" should be applied due to the various occurrence of Cu. The abundance of calcite and dolomite is about 12%, so removing these acid-consuming minerals by floatation is an effective way to reduce the acid consumption in the hydrometallurgical process and the lowest Cu loss is 1.72%. So the process "floating copper minerals-floating calcium minerals (calcite and dolomite)-leaching copper from the tailings" is used in the pilot tests. The recovery of floating copper and leaching copper from tailings is 46% and 30% respectively, so the total recovery of copper is 76%. Compared with the original process "leaching copper from crude ore-floating copper from the residue", the total recovery reduces by 1% but the acid consumption of producing per ton of copper decreases from 37t to 12t. The new technology process has a great advantage."

"In Russia the industrial exploitation of ore deposits is determined as a strategic direction of gold extraction industry development. The majority of gold-containing ores of Russia is referred to category of rebellious ores with 3-5 g/t gold content and is characterized by low factors of gold and silver extraction under cyaniding. The resistance of goldcontaining raw materials under their processing is caused by presence of very fine gold particles less than 0,1-0,01 µm in size, associated with the pyrite and arsenopyrite. Significance of the problem of rational rebellious ores beneficiation and high precious metals extraction is increasing from year to year.Group of scientists from IPKON and IRE, Russian Academy of Sciences, has developed highly effective, powereconomic and ecologically clean method of breaking-up of resistant gold-containing ores and their beneficiation products on the base of using an energy of powerful electromagnetic pulses. For the first time there have been designed laboratory installation for resistant raw materials treatment in dry and wet state (solid/liquid ratio = 5:1) and ground material less than 1-0,5 mm.Mechanisms of powerful electromagnetic pulses action on natural mineral components, including dielectrics (quartz, calcite), semiconductors (sulfides) and metals (gold, silver) have been theoretically accounted. Pulses action parameters and ways of pulses generating have been discussed in different conditions. At tension of electromagnetic field, exceeding the electric strength of processing material, an electric breakdown develops in the mineral matrix of sulfides and dielectrics. Under the series of pulses action the forming of plural breakdown channels occurs, leading to strength loss of material and microcrackes developing. Thus, the action makes it possible for leaching solution to access precious metals particles under cyaniding process. Distinctive changing of pyrite and arsenopyrite surface structures under the influence of powerful electromagnetic pulses is confirmed by studies using optical and scanning electron microscopy."

"The morphology of pellet feed is known to influence several properties of iron ore pellets, including drop number, compression strength and reduction properties. The effect of grinding method on the particle size, specific surface area and particle shape of an iron ore concentrate has been studied. Grinding methods considered were ball mill and high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR). 5 different samples (Blaine= 1800, 1900, 2000, 2100 and 2200 cm2g-1) were used to compare the size, shape and specific surface of particles for each grinding methods. Particle size was meticulously examined by sieve analysis, laser sizing and image analysis. In samples ground by ball mill, it has been observed that the fraction of particles <10µm increases from 39% to 46% as the Blaine number increases from 1800 to 2200 cm2g-1. For HPGR samples, corresponding figures are 41% and 49% respectively. It is evident that for samples ground by HPGR, the fraction of fine particles is higher than that of those ground in the ball mill. To measure the specific surface area of particles, Blaine and BET were used. A higher real surface area was observed from HPGR treatment in comparison to ball mill grinding, provided by a higher porosity, cracks, roughness and new surfaces. Shape factor of particles was determined using three descriptors: circularity, roughness, and aspect ratio. It was also observed that particles produced by HPGR were more elongated, less circular, and rougher than those processed by the ball mill. 1. INTRODUCTION Particle size and shape are important parameters that can significantly affect mineral processing plants and pelletizing plant performances (Brozek and Surowiak, 2007). It has also been proposed that green pellet quality is directly related to the amount of fine particles in a pelletizing plant (Dwarapudi et al., 2008; Umadevi et al., 2008; Gul et al, 2014; Van der Meer, 2015). Particle size distribution and specific surface area (SSA) are also key factors that can control the quality of green and fired pellets. Processing circuits generally reduce the fines fraction to lower than the required specific surface area (SSA). It is therefore necessary to regrind concentrates to produce suitable pellet feed for further treatment in the balling and firing steps [1, 2]. Two main methods are used for re-grinding of concentrate; high pressure grinding rolls (HPGR) and ball mill. Given the different forces used to reduce size in these methods, it is expected the shape of particles will be different (Pourghahramani and Forssberg, 2005)."

"The Merensky Reef is a platinum group minerals (PGM) bearing reef in the Bushveld Igneous Complex in South Africa. The reef has been treated by bulk PGM and sulphide flotation with the aim of maximisingthe valuable minerals recovery and gangue minerals rejection.Synthetic water with a calcium concentration of 80 ppm and 500 ppm was prepared and the flotation results obtained were compared to a simple electrolyte in order to determine the effect water quality has on pentlandite and pyroxene surface alteration and, ultimately, floatability. During the study, the possible effect of interactions between the minerals investigated and Ca2+ ions in the presence of sodium isobutyl xanthate was studied at pH 6 and pH 9 by means of zeta potential determinations, microflotation tests and ToF-SIMS analysis.The results obtained on 1:1 pentlandite-pyroxene mixtures showed that the quality of process water plays an important role in flotation. The flotation recoveries of pentlandite and pyroxene were lower in synthetic process water compared to those obtained in a simple electrolyte solution."

"The paper focuses on the results of the research on development of hydrometallurgical process of gold recovery from refractory sulfide flotation concentrates based on fine and ultrafine grinding. Refractory concentrates (the degree of refractoriness is 16.9%-82.6%) were chosen for testing. The efficiency of the process based on fine and ultrafine grinding to treat flotation concentrates with gold intergrown with sulfides and rock-forming minerals was shown. Based on the test work conducted, the process option was chosen. In included grinding of flotation concentrate to the size of 98% minus 20µm in a bead mill, lime treatment with air blow, CIL, filtration and detoxification of liquid phase of the slurry. This process (compared to the basic option) provides the recovery of gold from 82.6%, up to 94.0% and decreases the residual grade in the tailings from 3.3g/t to 1.1g/t at the consumption of 12.6NaCNkg/t. Based on the results of the test work and pilot plant testing, project design criteria of flotation circuit at a Russian plant was developed."

Electrowinning of lead from aqueous solution of PbCl2 and electrowinning of manganese dioxide from aqueous solution of MnCl2 are two research focuses in hydrometallurgy. This paper investigated a new process of simultaneous electrowinning of lead and manganese dioxide in chloride medium. The simultaneous electrowinning process in chloride solution not only can prevent chloride from liberating at anodes but also obtain two electrolysis products and decrease electric energy consumption. Diaphragm cell is used in the simultaneous electrowinning process to form separate anode and cathode compartment. The effects of temperature, HCl concentration in anolyte, NaCl concentration in catholyte and electrolysis time on current efficiency and cell voltage are studied. The results indicate that current efficiency of anode and cathode for 5 hours is 99% and 96% respectively, average cell voltage is 1. 701V, the weight ratio of lead and manganese dioxide produced at electrodes is 2. 39:1 under the optimum conditions. As anode products, manganese dioxide is ??MnO2, content of which in the products is more than 92%.
