Chromium ore exploitation has commenced in 1948 in Albania and there are produced about 24.3 million tons up to the end of 2006. Last years the prices and need were increased notably. Main export of chromium ores and concentrates was accomplished respectively 114 500 ton and 13 000 ton in People Republic of China during 2006 year. Location, status, reserves and grade of chromium deposits of Albania are presented in the paper. Chromium ore enrichment is related with their composition and Cr2O3 content, as well as with market requests. Actually, high grade chromium ores with Cr2O3 content over 38% ~ 40% are directly exported or treated in metallurgy, but last time have been exported and chromium ores with 28% ~ 30% Cr2O3 content for the reason that dressing plants can not be operated for investment lack. High grade chromium ores have been treated in heavy media separation plant before 1990. It is presented flow sheet, figures and necessity to put in operation HMS plant in the paper. Actually, low grade chromium ores with content 16% ~ 20% Cr2O3 are not enriched for the lack of investments, but before 1990 they have been concentrated in dressing plants producing chromium concentrates grade 48% ~ 50% Cr2O3. In the paper are shown technological schemes and industrial figures during more than 20 years operation and possibilities to reconstruct these mineral processing plants. Only chromium mineral processing plant of Bulqiza is in operation using as raw material its old existing tailings. The flow sheet and figures show that are possibilities to increase recovery and grade of concentrate in the plant. Separation and concentration of slimes in suitable equipment gives visible improvement of Cr2O3 recovery. Several tests have been carried out with flotation and magnetic separation methods for enrichment of low grade chromium ores. Flow sheet and figures of mineral processing ores content olivine as gangue mineral are interesting, because combination of gravimetric with magnetic methods is necessary in this case. In the paper are presented the tests and good results of low chromium ore pre concentration. Metallurgical treatment of chromium ores to produce Ferro chrome, as well as technological process, figures, consume of electrical power and materials in Elbasani and Burreli furnaces are shown and necessary investments to treat in metallurgy all produced chromium ores in Albania are considered.

Coal, as energy resource, possesses numerous characteristics and properties which all have an influence on its gasification behaviour. The two properties considered as critically important when evaluating a coal source for gasification is its mineral content and slagging behaviour. Research has indicated that slagging formation can be inhibited or even prevented by the addition of a fluxing agent. It is thus of great importance to understand the mineral interaction during gasification in order to select a suitable fluxing agent for the prevention of slagging and clinker formation in the gasifier. The aim of the present project is to evaluate the effect of iron as a fluxing agent and study the transformation of the mineral and added iron during gasification. A pre-determined amount of pure elemental iron (between 2wt% and 20wt%) was added to a base case coal sample in order to study the effect of the addition of iron to the coal. The transformation of the iron in conjunction with the possible iron containing minerals present in the coal was studied by means of Mössbauer analyses. Typical characterisation techniques included proximate analyses, ultimate analyses and ash composition analyses. The ash fusion temperature analyses (AFT) were used to study and predict the slagging behaviour of the iron-spiked coal samples. Even though AFT analyses only provide an average flow property, it gives a good indication of the changes that the iron addition induces on coal properties. FactSage modelling was carried out in conjunction with the Mössbauer and AFT analyses. From the proximate, ultimate and ash composition analyses it was clear that the coal used con-formed to the average characteristics measured over an extended time period. From the AFT values it was seen that an increase in the flow temperature occurred with the addition of pure elemental iron to the coal, which can be of importance for operational purposes as to raise the gasifier temperature and not to have slagging problems to occur in the gasifier. The Mössbauer data show that he-matite is the main Fe-component that forms from the pyrite originally present and from the added iron to the coal, consistent with FactSage modelling, which shows that the partial oxygen pressure determines which mineral species will form. This study opens up new possibilities when considering operational problems experienced in in-dustrial gasifiers. Successful completion of this study and a study to look at reducing conditions in the gasifier will also add to the knowledge that already exists regarding fluxing agents.

Take Henan middle-low grade bauxite as research object, according to the pilot experiment of bi-flotation technology, the concentrate A/S is 9.37 and the recovery of alumina is 80.18% by flotation separate the raw ore which A/S is only 4.19.

"Froth structure and stability are known to play an important role in determining flotation recovery and selectivity. An industrial sampling campaign was performed to develop a clearer understanding of the effect of flotation variables on froth stability and the role played by the resulting stability on flotation performance.Froth stability was estimated as the fraction of bubbles bursting on the surface of the froth through image analysis and the solids loading on the bubbles at the top surface. It was generally found that high air flowrates resulted in a drop of froth stability showed by a drop in the fraction of air overflowing and a decrease in the solids loading and simultaneously produced low copper recoveries and low concentrate grades. Deep froths only allowed a small fraction of air to overflow and consequently produced low recoveries. An increase from a standard to high frother dosage did not result in a larger fraction of air overflowing, hence producing low recoveries. Likewise, low frother addition only allows low recoveries because the resulting unstable froth cannot support itself. Low aeration was found to be preferential as it allowed high particle loading, therefore high bubble stabilisation, and low gangue entrainment, resulting in the highest flotation performance.Additional laboratory tests were performed to introduce a new stability parameter and to give a clearer understanding of the effect of flotation variables on froth stability. The results confirmed some of the observations made on the plant."

In the present work, the influence of coagulant, polymeric flocculant structure type and mode of addition on flocculation performance and dewatering behaviour of plant mineral waste tailings of diverse mineralogy (kaolin, quartz, goethite/hematite feldspar, gibbsite, rutile, and Illite) is investigated. High molecular weight, non-ionic polyacrylamide homopolymer and anionic (acrylate) and cationic (quaternary acrylate) copolymers were used in orthokinetic flocculation of colloidal-ly-stable, aqueous dispersion of negatively charged particles. It is demonstrated that, through prudent selection and mode of addition of polymer structure types, synergistic effect between certain cationic and anionic flocculants can be readily achieved, leading to significantly improved dewaterability of the heterogeneous mineral waste tailings.

"The processing of copper gold ores is one of the major issues of gold-mining industry in the beginning of 21st century. In this case, application of ammoniacal cyanidation process for this type of mineral raw materials deserves special attention. Irgiredmet Institute has carried out a wide range of studies on ammoniacal cyanidation process and evaluated the possible commercial use of this process for Russian operating plants. Copper gold-bearing ore from a current Russian deposit was studied. The content of gold and copper in the ore is 9.4 g/t and 0.4%, respectively. Based on the results of preliminary test work, a flow sheet was developed. It included gravity concentration followed by cyanidation of the gravity tailings using CIP. The flow sheet provides sufficient total gold recovery (91.5%). However, this technology has disadvantages, such as high specific consumption of reagents: 4.5 kg/t NaCN and 13.5 kg/t Ca(OCl)2 the ore and the increased gold grade in the liquid phase of the tails slurry (0.2 g/t). In order to improve cyanidation process parameters, test work on gravity tails processing using ammoniacal cyanidation was carried out. After the test work was completed, ammoniacal cyanidation flow sheet for copper gold-bearing ores was developed. Leaching conditions were optimized using recycled process solutions. Recommendations on gold recovery from the solutions and tails detoxification are given. The proposed flow sheet provides 91.5% gold recovery. In this case, compared to the conventional option, the consumption of cyanide decreases by 3-4 times.INTRODUCTION The technology of precious metals recovery from gold-bearing ores is based on cyanidation. This accounts for up to 90% gold recovery and the significant portion of silver (Lodeischikov, 1999). However, there exists the category of so called refractory ores. They are not amenable to direct cyanidation (without using additional expensive processes), or they are characterized by low indices of metals recovery and high consumption of reagents. The latter also include copper gold ores. Their deposits can be found extensively both worldwide and in Russian Federation. A feature of these ores is that they contain not only gold but also copper. It is considered not only as a valuable component but also as a harmful mineral impurity that hinders gold cyanidation, gold precipitation from the solutions by cementation onto zinc dust and adsorption onto activated carbon (CIL, CIP-processes), detoxification of cyanide bearing effluents."

Bottom ash is a solid waste stream in a Waste-to-Energy (WTE) processing plant during the combustion of the municipal solid waste (MSW). In the Netherlands, bottom ash contains typically about 18% metals originated from the MSW, and current industrial practice could recover about 10% metals through magnetic and eddy current separators. The remaining 8% as the finer particles is difficult to recover through current physical separation technology. Among various alternatives, vitrification is one of the promising options to immobilize the ash and recover the remaining metals. During vitrification a homogeneous glassy slag and a Fe-Cu based alloy were obtained. In the cur-rent study, the metal alloy recovered from the bottom ash originated from a Dutch Waste-to-Energy plant contains about 82 wt% Fe, 12 wt% Cu and 6 wt% other alloying elements and impurities such as C, S, P, Ni etc. The generated alloy does not have direct commercial applications, and separation of copper from iron-based alloy is critical to obtain the market value of both copper and ferrous constituents. To find a suitable processing route of this metal alloy, various alternative approaches have been considered for an efficient removal of copper from the alloy, and the focus in the present study was on the sulphide treatment at elevated temperatures of 1400 ~ 1500oC. The tested sulphide systems include pure FeS, FeS containing sulphide mixture (such as Na2S and Al2S3), pyrite (FeS2) mineral, ZnS containing sludge as an industrial waste. It was found that the carbon saturation of the alloy is proved to be an essential condition for a proper phase separation. The results showed that FeS mixed with Na2S, ZnS containing sludge and pyrite are effective sulphide systems for copper removal with a removal efficiency of 92% by using pyrite and 95% by zinc sludge at a S/Cu ratio of around 7 times of the stoichiometry. The copper content drops from 12 wt% to about 2 wt%. However, it is still difficult to remove copper completely from the alloy in a single step, and a multi-step operation is needed. The present research is expected to contribute both to the utilization of the metal recovered from bottom ash, and to the general recycling of steel scrap where copper removal from the steel scrap is a critical issue.

Small manganese ore bodies in south Odisha, India occurs both as stratiform and stratabound ore bodies. These two ore bodies show contrasting mineralogical, petrographical and chemical characteristics. Stratiform type of Mn-ores consists of manganese, iron and silicate- phases in approximately same proportion. In contrast, stratabound ore bodies contain a high proportion of manganese oxides, silicates and phosphorus phases. Phosphorus is found within apatite in the stratabound ore bodies while in the stratiform ore it occurs as an adsorbed state with iron phase (goethite). Both ore bodies are low-grade (17-23% Mn) therefore do not have a market value. However, the stratabound ores are enriched in phosphorus (P2O5: >1%) compared to the stratiform ores. Both the ore types were processed through gravity, magnetic and roast reduction followed by magnetic separation techniques. The strata bound ore could be upgraded to 33% Mn from a feed of 23% by combination of dry and wet magnetic separation methods. But the phosphorus content also suits up (P2O5: 1.2%) in the processed product making it unsuitable for further use. The stratiform ores do not respond to either gravity or magnetic separation because of close association of manganese with iron phases. However, this could be beneficiated through roast reduction followed by magnetic separation. An ore with 17% Mn content could be upgraded to 40% Mn with a 42% yield and 78% recovery. The goethite, having phosphorus, converts to magnetite and is retained within the magnetic fraction, thereby reducing the concentration of phosphorus in the non-magnetic fraction, which becomes the product. This report demonstrates the influence of ore petrology in determining the up-gradational potential of manganese ore in the southern Odisha, India. Mica plate is broadly used in electric industry, production of man-made mica paper plate is in-creasing. The problem coming with is that large quantities of leftover materials unable to be re-cycled are produced during cutting and molding of mica plate productions. The leftover materials are always abandoned as crabs, which not only pollute the environment but also waste our resources. The study intends to find a new measure to decompose and to reuse the mica plate leftover materials so as to create a new production process of mica plate, which is clean and does not produce crabs.

Traditional mineral processing techniques are more and more difficult to recover the increasingly low grade phosphate ores today. Although bioleaching method has been attempted to process low grade ores in hydrometallurgical field due to economical and environmental reason, it has been hardly used in leaching phosphate ore at home and abroad. Strains of Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans and Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans were collected and separated from the acid drainage of a coal mine in Anhui province of China. Ultraviolet irradiation and Microwave inducement were applied to the bacterial cultivation process to produce strains of Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans and Acidithi-obacillus ferrooxidans able to tolerate extremely low pH conditions and generate sulphuric acid by oxidizing elemental sulfur or sulphide and the mutagenesis can achieve higher leaching rate. The bioleaching result will improve more by the addition of Tween series surfactants.

"Russia is among the nations holding the world's largest lithium ore reserves. Lithium is of key importance for the global economy. Therefore, it is important to review the current state of technology research aimed at finding the most effective solutions for the recovery of lithium from promising reserves in Russia. In Russia, a number of process solutions for the flotation of spodumene into salable concentrate (5% Li2O) have been implemented at the earlier existing complex low-grade ore concentration project. By applying these solutions, a sample of high-grade spodumene ore (4.7% Li2O) of the Greenbushes deposit was processed into a spodumene concentrate (7.5% Li2O) at a high recovery (~93%) of lithium. In Australia and Canada, new processes have been developed for the recovery of high-grade spodumene concentrates from high-grade ores using dense medium separation and flotation. For the recovery of mica lithium concentrates from low-grade ore, a flotation process was developed in Russia using the cationic collector ANP-2 and Oxifos-B as an additional collector. Low-grade ore containing 0.14% of lithium oxide was processed into a 2.7% Li2O concentrate. New hydrometallurgical lithium concentrate and ore processes are developed to avoid high-temperature (>1000 °C) roasting. The Sileach process (Australia) includes leaching of lithium ore with sulfuric acid in the presence of a halogen-containing component at a temperature of 95-115 °C. In the Russian process, lithium is recovered into an alkaline solution from low-grade spodumene ore in a pressure alkaline leaching environment (250 °C, NaOH concentration > 300 g/l). The developed concentration and hydrometallurgical methods will allow to design on their basis efficient processes for recovering salable products for hi-tech industries from lithium ores.INTRODUCTION Lithium has many unique and important properties. It is the least dense hard metal. Its alloys have some of the highest strength-to-weight ratios. Lithium has the lowest melting point of all known solid elements and is used as a highly-effective heat transfer medium. The high demand for lithium is due primarily to its unique electrochemical potential and low thermal expansion coefficient. It is used in the production of glass and ceramics, in petrochemicals, metals, medical and other industries. Since the late 20th century, the electronics industry has been the largest consumer of lithium. In recent years, lithium has attracted much attention also as an important component of ultra-lightweight electronic devices. It is also the preferred metal for electric batteries used in mobile electronic devices, vehicles, household power generators, making it an important resource for the development of environmentally friendly technology. Leading automotive brands have ambitious plans for the production of electric cars — Tesla Motors, VW, Toyota, GM, BYD Auto. It is expected that the production of electric vehicles alone will triple the demand for lithium by 2025. A sharp increase in the production of lithium is expected. "Purification of zinc leachate plays a predominate role in zinc leaching refineries, to produce impurity free cathode sheets. As a part of such purification sequences, copper cementation with zinc dust is the preliminary step, since the presence of copper will preferentially deposit during zinc electro deposition and has the effect of reducing current efficiency. The cake thus produced is being accumulated as an inventory, due to invariable market and leading to space constraints & hazardous ambience. Hence, a project has been taken up for in-house generation of copper sulphate solution through ammonical leach followed by solvent extraction process and utilizing it as an active promoter for zinc sulphide flotation in Hindustan Zinc’s own captive mines. Cold purification cake majorly contains copper (30-40%) along with zinc (10-20%) and cadmium (2%). Confirmation to the above statement, photomicrographs of purification cake also confirmed the major presence of copper in metallic or oxidized form. In present work ammoniacal carbonate leaching of purification cake followed by solvent extraction using diketone based solvent has been studied under the influence of various parameters viz., temperature, agitation, pulp density, ammonia, CO2 dosages, solvent concentration, and impact of w/s zinc on leaching and solvent extraction. Leaching kinetics determined based on shrinking core model. Chemical reaction at unreacted core was found to be the rate controlling step. The estimated activation energy was found to be 24 KJ/mol. Leached copper has been extracted by solvent extraction with a ß diketone based solvent and is stripped with sulfuric acid as concentrated copper sulfate solution. The above established R&D findings are successfully implemented in the Commercial plant with a treatment capacity of two tons of cold purification cake per batch. Till now 500 MT of Purification cake has been treated, and generated 6500 MT of copper sulphate (55 g/l Cu), with final Cu recoveries between 87-90%."

"In general the electric pulse treatment is composed from two processes – electric pulse grinding and electric explosive (electric discharging) activation. The electric pulse grinding with the effect of selective destruction refers to a major slag fraction, more that 2-5 mm, when a one can see a physical prerequisites for electrical breakdown of the slag particles. The electric pulse treatment of slag is considered as an additional operation in the technological scheme extraction of non-ferrous metals from copper smelting slags in addition with mechanical grinding, flotation enrichment and acid leaching. Studies of the reprocessability of pelletized slag have shown the possibility of higher extracting non-ferrous metals via flotation after electric pulse disintegration (EPD) treatment. By using EPD of slag pellets, it is possible to increase the non-ferrous metal yield to concentrate by 18-24%.INTRODUCTION The use of the explosive effect of the plasma discharge channel at electrical breakdown of a solid at a pulsed high voltage is the physical basis of the electric pulse method of destruction of geomaterials (Vorobiev et al., 1971; Andres, 1995; Semkin et al., 1995). The flowing of a pulsed current in the discharge channel is accompanied by a sharp increasing of plasma’s temperature and pressure, leading to a supersonic expanding of the discharge channel, the formation in the solid of intensive mechanical tension field, spreading of cracks, and eventually, to the destruction of the solid. Fragmentation and grinding of ore and mineral aggregates by electric pulse method due to a number of specific physical mechanisms of power load and crack formation, belonging only to this method, is different by high selectivity of destruction. This ensures better liberation of grains of individual minerals and their better preservation from destruction and less formation of a slurry output. These features creates the prerequisites for a more complete extraction of a useful mineral in the concentrate during ore dressing, to improve the quality of concentrate. In contradistinction to mechanical methods, electric pulse technology does not contaminate the product with instrumental metal, material of lining and grinding bodies. The possibility simply and in a wide range to change the dynamic load character allows to regulate the granulometric composition of the product of grinding, to obtain a narrower class of product size than is possible with mechanical grinding. The product of electric pulse grinding is characterized by less roundness and large specific surface area of grains due to the trait, that a new surface is formed in the process of splitting during the expanding of cracks. The degradation product has increased sorption and reactivity in chemical reactions. Liberation of the mineral inclusions particle better corresponds to their initial natural state in the rock and this is the great importance for the study of mineral raw materials."

"Arsenic removal from high arsenic gold concentrate is conducive to increase the mineral value and realize the mineral comprehensive utilization. This study investigated the alkaline pressure oxidation leaching (APOL) of an arsenical gold concentrate in lower temperature to separate the arsenic into filtrate. The effects of temperature, NaOH concentration, solid-liquid ratio, reaction pressure and stirring speed on the leaching efficiency were investigated, and the characteristics of the gold concentrate and leaching residues were evaluated using XRD and SEM analysis methods. The obtained results showed that by using lower temperature (<60?) it is possible to avoid the production of elemental sulfur during the leaching process, which is benefit for the oxidation of arsenopyrite; When the reaction was carried out under appropriate conditions, more than 98% of the arsenic will be extracted into the filtrate as the form of arsenate or thioarsenate. INTRODUCTION In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the recovery of gold from refractory arsenical gold ore. The arsenic in this kind of ore usually exists as the form of arsenopyrite, and the gold surrounded by arsenopyrite exists as the form of fine particles, which will give many difficulties to metallurgical work. When the content of arsenic in the gold ore is more than 0.5%, it will seriously penalize the smelting efficiency (Ruiz et al., 2014). So pretreatment of the refractory gold ore is necessary to obtain the largest economic value and environmental benefits (Balaz et al., 2000). The oxidation pretreatment processes mainly include roasting oxidation, pressure oxidation, chemical treatment and biological treatment (Ann et al., 1992; Kou and Chen, 2012; Tongamp et al., 2010; Fernandez et al., 1995; Lin and Zheng, 1996). Among them, the roasting oxidation and pressure oxidation are the more ordinary processes in industry. The roasting oxidation process is the mature and adaptable technology, but the production of waste gas containing sulfur and arsenic will pollute the environment. The pressure oxidation method possesses certain metallurgical and environmental advantages, and can efficiently decompose the mineral. According to the different solution media, the pretreatment can be divided into alkaline and acidic pressure leaching pretreatments (Papangelakis and Demopoulos, 1990; Hiskey and Sanchez, 1995). The acidic pressure oxidation method has been used in most smelting plants for high arsenic gold ore pretreatment, while the alkaline pressure oxidation is still not widely applied. Compared with the acidic pressure oxidation, the alkaline pressure oxidation can be realized under lower temperatures."

It is investigated systemically in this paper that the granularity of the precursor, ZnC2O4?2H2O, is influenced by synthetic conditions. Instantaneously adding of precipitation agent is able to control the mean size of precursor ZnC2O4?2H2O under 300nm, which has great function to obtain well-dispersed ZnO nanoparticles in the next step, pyrolysis. The pyrolysis kinetics model of ZnC2O4?2H2O powder is obtained. Two steps take place during the pyrolysis. The first is dehydration, which the pyrolysis kinetic model is 2(1-a)2/3(chemical reaction), A=8.3×108s-1, E=(75.82±3.00) KJ/mol. The second is formation of ZnO, which the pyrolysis kinetic model is (1-a) (random nucleation and latter growth), A=8.45×1028s-1, E=(360.54±12.00)KJ/mol. ZnO nanoparticles obtained by pyrolysis take on self-growth behavior. It is resulted that for precursor ZnC2O4?2H2O pyrolysis time takes obvious influence on the partilces size under 420?, 500? and 600?. Finally, a new flow sheet for synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles is investigated, in which blendes is used as raw material and hydrometallurgy is introduced into it. The whole flow sheet has no industrial wastes, that is all byproducts can be used in the flow sheet recycled, resulted in the de-crease of productive cost and industrial wastes.

"With flotation cells scale-up, the performance of flotation cells is increasingly variated for short-coming and dead zones existing. The residence time distribution which shows the movement of tracers can assess the unexpected flows such as short circuit and dead zone in a flotation cell. In this paper, the residence time distribution of pilot flotation cell is investigated with CFD simulation. Based on the theoretical model, the short-coming probability and dead zone probability are quantitative. The ideal average residence time is similar with the actual average residence time. The mixing effect of the flotation cell approaches the ideal continuous stirred tank reactor. The operating parameters such as speed and feed velocity have complicated influence on residence time distribution. The research would be helpful to understanding flow in flotation cell and improving performances of flotation cell.INTRODUCTIONFroth flotation is a method which purifies minerals according to difference of physical and chemical surface characters of different mineral particles (Shen, Z., Chen J, 2012). Flotation cell is a key equipment for froth flotation method. Residence time distribution is an important fluid hydrodynamics which could reveal the flow of pulp, mixing of particles and air bubbles. In the flotation cell, the ideal average residence time of pulp could obtain easily. But the fluid differential units would be different flow paths. The residence time of the fluid differential units is variation and would be longer or less than the average residence time. The residence time distribution would reveal the mixing effect and predict the not ideal flow in the flotation cell such as shorting cutting, dead zone, etc. As we know, the shorting cutting and dead zone would be decreased the real flotation time and it is disadvantage to better flotation effect, especially for large flotation cell. It is impossible to eliminate the not ideal flow totally. It is very important to reveal and decrease the shorting cutting and dead zone probability in the flotation cell."

"With flotation cells scale-up, the performance of flotation cells is increasingly variated for short-coming and dead zones existing. The residence time distribution which shows the movement of tracers can assess the unexpected flows such as short circuit and dead zone in a flotation cell. In this paper, the residence time distribution of pilot flotation cell is investigated with CFD simulation. Based on the theoretical model, the short-coming probability and dead zone probability are quantitative. The ideal average residence time is similar with the actual average residence time. The mixing effect of the flotation cell approaches the ideal continuous stirred tank reactor. The operating parameters such as speed and feed velocity have complicated influence on residence time distribution. In Pt- and Au-keeping complex ores processing, about 10% ~ 15% of noble metals are lost with true tailings that are due to low floatability of Pt- and Au-keeping minerals by the conventional collectors. With the aim to achieve the effective recovery of noble metals at flotation of Pt-Cu-Ni and Au-keeping ores organic complex reagents keeping electron-donating atoms of nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur or phosphorus may be offered as selective collectors for the indicated minerals. These rea-gents tend to form complex compounds with PGM. Besides this, Cu-Ni-Pt and complex Pt and Au carbonated mica ores are characterized by finely disseminated (up to nanometer size) mineral forms of Pt in multivalent states. In this connection, the use of a combination of the strong ionic collectors with nonionic reactants that are capable to derivate complex compounds with multivalent PGM seems to be expedient for this type of ores. In the research new complex reactants were tested such as cyclic alkylene-trithiocarbonates, oxyalkyl butylxanthogen acid ethers, a combination of the collectors ? mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) and dialkyldithiophosphates (DTP). Sorption and flotation tests were made with monomine-ralic samples of chalcopyrite, pentlandite, pyrrhotite, pyrite, and Pt-Cu-Ni sulfide ore samples. Sorption properties were examined by the extractive UV spectrophotometric method and potentiometric measurements. To indicate a structure of modified xanthate solutions the method of a thin-layer chromatography (TLC) was applied. The chromatographic behavior of the basic components of modified xanthate solution ? ButX, cyclic propylene-trithiocarbonate (PTTC), diethyl-dithiocarbamate (DEDC) and the product of its modification ? oxypropyl-S-ether of dithiocarbamatic acid was studied on plates ?Silufol UV ? 254?. The composition of organic solvents and its ratio in a mobile phase was deter-mined for simultaneous chromatography of the main components of a reaction mixture. It was found that operating selectivity of MBT, DTP and cyclic alkylene-trithiocarbonates incorporated in modified xanthate in relation to Pt-Cu-Ni and Au-containing sulfide minerals might be explained by an electoral sorption of this nonionic collector on a surface of the minerals studied. It was demonstrated that the application new reagent modes with the use of a combination of designed complex reactants helped to increase the extraction index of Pt- and Au-keeping minerals from complicated ores.

Certain types of rock phosphates of sedimentary origin are applied to acidic soils as fertilizer directly. Recent research in India showed that high grade rock phosphate in fine size when used as a mix with organic manure works as efficiently as di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) in alkaline soils. The rock phosphate from Jhamarkotra, India (sedimentary origin), Egypt (sedimentary origin) and South Africa (volcanic origin) showed good agronomic efficiency when used as Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM). Further PROM shows equal residual effect. The results of efficiency of PROM made using two grades (+ 24% P2O5 and 34% P2O5) of rock phosphate mineral from Jordan show that low grade rock phosphate slimes are as effective as high grade phosphate concentrate when used in PROM. Also PROM is very effective in the saline soil of Eshidiya desert where DAP is not at all effective.

Adsorption of Thiooxidans ferrooxidans and Mycobacterium Phlei on the surface of pyrite and galena was studied. From the experimental results, it was observed that Mycobacterium Phlei adsorbed preferentially on pyrite than on galena at neutral and alkaline pH values, while Thiooxidans ferrooxidans is not at all pH range, and the scanning electron microscopy photograph also indicated that. FTIR and XPS of two strains of bacteria indicated that there are much functional groups on surface of them, such as O?H, N?H, C-O, C?N, C?O etc, but S-O group occurred on Thioox-idans ferrooxidans cell surface and the P-O group appeared on Mycobacterium Phlei cell surface, and the content of C?O?H and C?O?C groups on Mycobacterium Phlei cell surface is higher than that on Thiooxidans ferrooxidans cell surface, this also been known from UVS investigation. The affinity of these groups to metal ions on sulfide minerals is able to explain the selective adsorption.
