The Fleming method is widely used for the analysis and prediction of single pile behaviour under maintained loading. The method does not distinguish between bored and driven piles. Driven piling avoids the need to dispose of spoil from the pile installation and is therefore becoming increasingly attractive. This paper considers the theoretical effects of the possible preload at the base of a driven pile after installation, using the hyperbolic functions as defined by Fleming. The Fleming method is reviewed and the equations and analyses are adapted, using spreadsheets, to allow for a possible preload. The simplifying assumption of the effect of the elastic compression of the pile is also reviewed and a more analytical method adopted to assess the elastic compression. Some driven pile test data is analysed to consider the possible effects of the preload on the performance of a driven pile and to test the theoretical relationships that are developed in the paper.

"The paper gives an account of applications of quantum-mechanical (first-principles) electronic structure calculations to the problem of theoretical tensile strength in metals and intermetallics. First, we briefly describe the way of simulating the tensile test and the electronic structure calculational method. Our approach is then illustrated on calculations of theoretical tensile strength in W, NiAl and transition metal disilicides MoSi2 and WSi2 with C11b structure. In Wand NiAl, we consider uniaxial tension along [001] and [111] directions. Although tungsten is elastically nearly isotropic (C44 = C”), theoretical tensile strength exhibits a marked anisotropy (oth/001 = 29 GPa, o'th/111 = 40 GPa). Calculated results compare favorably with experimental value of 24.7±3.6 GPa obtained for tungsten whiskers grown along the [110] direction. Similarly, in NiAl, the 'hard' orientation [001] differs very significantly from the [ill] orientation (oth/001 = 46 GPa, oth/111 = 25 GPa). This anisotropy is explained in terms of higher-symmetry structures present or absent on the calculated deformation paths. In disilicides, the theoretical strength is calculated for [001] loading (oth/001 = 37 GPa and 38 GPa for MoSi2 and WSi2 , respectively). The role of relaxation of internal structure parameter is discussed and changes in bonding conditions during the tensile test are analyzed.IntroductionIn most engineering applications, the strength of materials is limited by the presence of internal defects. If there were no defects, then, for example, the tensile strength could be several orders of magnitude higher and its value would be comparable with that of shear modulus. Therefore, the strength of ideal (defect-free) crystal represents an upper limit of attainable stresses, which is called the ideal strength. While it may not be possible to achieve the ideal strength in practice, it is not possible to exceed it. However, the ideal strength is already approached in situations which are technologically relevant. These include the low-temperature deformation of inherently strong materials, such as diamond, Si, Ge and some of the transition-metal carbonitrides, deformation of whiskers, nanoindentation of materials with low defect densities, hardened thin films and coatings etc. The ideal strength sets the limits of elastic stability of a solid. Its knowledge is useful for estimation of the ideal work of fracture stresses needed for homogeneous nucleation of dislocations and for modelling of crack propagation."

"More than a dozen AEM systems are currently being used in the routine exploration for massive sulphides. The systems differ from one another in minor respects, but fall into four main categories: rigid-coupled in-phase/quadrature systems; towed-bird, single-component systems; differential systems; and passive systems.Although field tests are important in demonstrating the performance characteristics of the AEM/airframe assembly (noise-levels, coupling effects, etc.), more meaningful evaluations can be made through physical or computer modelling. The latter approach has been used to compare the response of twelve AEM systems to both vertical and horizontal sheets, simulating a large orebody and a con-ductive overburden respectively. The effects of height changes are also studied.The results demonstrate that each AEM system has its own particular advantages and disadvantages. The relative importance of these is a matter for the geophysicist to judge, on the basis of specific geological and environ-mental information. Data currently available on AEM systems are adequate to permit an objective evaluation of the systems for a particular exploration program."

INTRODUCTION Environmental impacts are most commonly associated with air and water pollution. Not- withstanding this fact, to many people the primary disruption caused by mineral extraction is the change in the character of the locale. That is, the environmental impact of mining includes, but is not limited to, the generation of residuals. The dramatic transformation of wilderness or rural land often creates strong reactions to mineral development. Thus, the basic issues of land use management are a useful addition to environmental discussion. In this section, we take up a discussion of federal, state, and local land use management regimes, along with a brief introduction to the potential role of economic analysis. Elsewhere in this volume, land management issues are discussed from other orientations, and the interested reader may wish to look there as well. Locatable Minerals on Federal Lands Legislation and Administration: Access to hard-rock minerals on the public lands is governed by the General Mining Law of 1872. This law declares that "valuable mineral deposits in land belonging to the United States . . . are hereby declared to be free and open to exploration and purchase . . . ." In order to initiate rights, prospectors are required to physically stake claims of specified sizes and shapes following basic procedures set by federal law which may be supplemented by the individual states. Rights to these claims are protected at the exploration stage so long as actual possession is maintained and diligent exploration activity is underway. If a valuable mineral deposit is discovered on the claim, the claimholder earns the exclusive right of possession as against private parties so long as the claim is properly maintained. To maintain this exclusive right the claimholder must per- form $100 worth of labor or improvements, known as assessment work, on each claim every year and make related annual filings with the U. S. Department of the Interior. If the existence of a valuable mineral deposit can be demonstrated, and other legal requirements are met, the claimholder may receive a patent giving full title to the claimed land, including the surface in most cases. The purchase price is either $2.50 or $5 .OO per acre. The Mining Law has remained largely un- changed by legislative amendment during its now more than 100-vear existence. However, while the law itself has not changed, its interpretation and administration have changed considerably. Written at a time of rapid western expansion of the U.S. following the Civil War, the intent of the law was to promote mineral development by inviting unrestricted prospecting and by selling the lands containing mineral deposits at a minimal charge. As federal land policy shifted from one of rapid disposal into private ownership to one of retention and management for a number of uses, mineral patenting requirements have been administered more strictly. The most critical issue concerns what must be demonstrated to establish the existence of a valuable mineral deposit. The so-called "prudent man" standard was established in the case of Castle v. Womble (19 L.D. 455 (1894)):

IN approaching the problems of sampling coal, a brief statement of certain facts that are more or less taken for granted may be helpful: 1. The coal-mine operator needs reliable data as to the physical and chemical characteristics of his coal in order to plan and control intelligently its mining, preparation, and marketing. The consumer needs such data in order to select the equipment and the coal best suited to meet his requirements, to check the quality of fuel delivered, and the efficiency of its use. Various government control agencies require such data as a basis for classifications and establishment of limits, for use in carrying out the requirements of federal, state or municipal laws. 91. All such data must be obtained by analyses, measurements, or tests made on samples, which are taken to represent the coal tested. It is now becoming generally recognized that, in accordance with statistical laws, test results from samples are not expected to represent the exact qualities of the lot or lots from which they are taken, except within statistical, or "expected limits. Such limits are definitely specified by some present standards of the American Society for Testing Materials and the British Standards Institution. 3. Samples that give ash within satisfactory limits are usually assumed to be sufficiently accurate for other analyses, except under special condi¬tions such as meeting close specifications for coals showing wide variability in sulphur, fusibility of ash, or other quality. 4. In modern coal sampling the increment is recognized as the basis for taking samples. For a given accuracy the number and weight of increments specified are increased with: (a) the expected ash, and (b) the top size designation of the lot to be sampled. 5. It is extremely important that every sampler recognize that: the specified number and weight of increments are minimums, and that the precautions to be used in order to take them properly are also minimums; that in the reduction of the gross sample the sizes specified for the coal after each stage of the crushing are maximum; that the quantities specified to be taken after each crushing stage are minimum; that any short cuts or failures to meet the requirements specified will reduce the statistical accuracy of the results, although it is possible that one or two checks on a few results may seem to show otherwise.

Piles extending through soft soil near the ground surface will have a relatively low lateral stiffness. As a result, lateral serviceability limits may control the number of piles required for foundation support. Improving near surface soil properties may significantly increase lateral pile stiffness and thus reduce the number of piles required for the foundation. A series of analyses have been performed to assess the depth and lateral extent of soil improvement required to significantly increase lateral foundation stiffness. Analyses consisted of Winkler type beam on a spring foundation and three-dimensional, linear elastic finite element analyses. Results from the analyses show that lateral pile foundation stiffness can be doubled when soil properties are improved to a depth and lateral extent of 5 pile diameters. In order to achieve this increase in foundation stiffness, the modified/improved soil modulus of elasticity needed to be approximately 5 times greater than adjacent unimproved soil. This magnitude of soil improvement over such a limited lateral extent suggests that limited soil improvement can result in more economical foundation designs at soft soil sites.

Great Salt Lake Minerals & Chemicals Corporation (GSL), a subsidiary of Gulf Resources & Chemical Corporation, is located on the east side of the Great Salt Lake, approximately 20 miles from Ogden, Utah. GSL processes brine from the north arm of the lake to produce potash, salt cake, salt and magnesium chloride brine. Potash fertilizer, in the form of K2SO4 is GSL's primary product. The GSL Sulfate of Potash Complex The GSL potash complex (depicted in Figure I) is divided into a solar evaporation pond system and the process plants. The solar,evaporation system consists of a 17,000-acre (68.8 Km2) ponding operation where the various salts deposit during the summer evaporation season, and a harvesting operation which recovers the deposits during the remainder of the year. The harvest is either preconcentrated in the flotation plant or processed directly in the chemical plant where sulfate of potash (SOP) is produced. The chemistry of the lake brine results in a solar deposit con¬taining primarily kainite (KCl-MgSO4.3H20), schoenite (K2SO4?MgSO4^ 6H2O), and halite (NaCI), with some carnallite (KCl.MgCl2.6H20) and epsomite (MgSO4.7H20). Other minor minerals may be deposited, depending upon the weather during the evaporation season. Each year, the solar deposit in the evaporation ponds will greatly depend upon the summer weather conditions, which have in the past proven to be quite unpredictable. Weather may alter both the quantity of the solar deposit and the composition of this deposit. This paper will explore and compare the requirements for rotating and non-rotating shaft designs and the impact of that design on the product. Additionally, it will explore how the “roller” bearing types (deep groove ball, tapered, or spherical) affect these designs.

Reduce dust at the auger mine face by modifying airflow patterns, around the minim machine. Approach Limited clearance between an auger miner and the mine root restricts airflow across the face and causes dust rollback. Directional sprays arc used to direct air across the face, thereby reducing dust rollback and increasing dust dilution (fig. 1). Laboratory and underground studies were used to test and optimize effectiveness of the directional sprays. Results of Laboratory Study Laboratory experiments were conducted in a simulated auger gallery equipped with a full-scale mock auger miner and bridge conveyor. A dual curtain configuration was used to direct the, ventilation, which averaged 2,700 cfm throughout the experiment. Testing variables included spray location, pressure, spacing, orientation, and number. Figure 2 shows the optimized directional spray system, also called the auger clearer spray system. The system consists of three sprays mounted alone the intake side of the miner. Sprays arc spaced 16 to 24 inches apart, and angled 30° toward the return side of the miner. The 24-inch spacing moved about 7% more air across the face than the 16-inch spacing; however, it resulted in some additional misting on the return side of the miner. A 30° orientation was more effective than a 60° orientation for moving air across the face and minimizing misting on the return side of the miner. Flat fan sprays arc used because their spray paths arc not obstructed by the top of the miner and mine roof, A 50° fan angle is used to minimize misting on the intake side of the miner.

The methodology for describing the geochemistry of elements in a coal seam have been developed. This has been applied to the Rosebud Coal Seam, which is an economically important member of the subbituminous coals of the Fort Union Formation in Eastern Montana. The method development has involved a detailed study of two popular techniques for determining the metal geochemistry of coal, namely, whole coal analyses and coal physical fractionation. The mathematically contrived element associations (whole coal analyses technique) and the element concentration trends in the float and sink fractions (physical fractionation technique) are considered to lead to only qualitative conclusions concerning the chemical associations of the elements in coals. Additionally, the processes taking place with the coal during low temperature ashing in an oxygen plasma are experimentally investigated and shown to be of sufficeint extent that the use of such low temperature ash for deciphering element geochemistry is questionable. The method developed in this study is a chemical fractionation that involves the sequential leaching of coal with water, 0.5 N HC1, 3 N HC1, 2 N HNO3, and 48% HF. These leach solutions are shown to selectively dissolve the predominate inorganic phases, sulfates, Ca and Mg carbonates, Fe sulfides and K alumino-silicates and quartz, respectively. These phases were identified with the use of XRD, SEM, EM and leaches (water and 0.3 N HC1) of whole coal and low temperature ash. The incorporation of the anion-exchange step in the leaching scheme was investigated and was observed to warrant further study of such intensity to be, at the time, unuseable. The use of this sequential leaching technique on several coal samples from the same seam generates element concentration trends that can be quantitatively interpreted with respect to the chemical associations of the minor and trace metals in the coal seam. The properties of the various seams of economic importance in the Fort Union Formation in Eastern Montana are compiled and presented. The subsequent conclusion is that there is not a large variation in the properties of these coal seams and that the variations within the Rosebud are within one order of magnitude. The chemical fractionation technique, investigated in this study, was applied to composite tipple samples of the Rosebud seam. Each composite sample represented 76,800 tons of coal. A minimum of 32% of the Ca and Mg are present as separate water soluble sulfates. An excess of the sulfate ion in the water extracts shows the predominating influence of the ion exchange capacity of the organic compounds in the coal. Based upon the CO content of the coal and the HC1 leachate data, 25 to 30% of the alkaline earth elements exist as separate carbonates and the remainder are associated with the organic compounds. The small fraction of the illite that dissolves in the HC1 and HNO3 leachates accounts for the K and Al. Slight dissolution of the pyrite in the HCl solvent occurs, the small amounts of Li and As do not relate to any known phase and Mn is present as a separate carbonate phase. Fe and a significant amount of the As exist in the pyrite that is dissolved in the HNO. Se is equally partitioned between the pyrite and the organic compound~. Most of the trace elements are found in the HF solutions. Li, V, and Cr were interpreted to be associated with the clay minerals (kaolinite and illite). Ni and Pb appear to be present as separate phases and 50% of the Hg is HF soluble but is not chemically related to any known inorganic phase.

THE Oaxaca coal fields, shown in Fig. 1, are located in the Alta Mixteca region in the states of Oaxaca, Puebla, and Guerrero. Known out crops are scattered over 3125 square miles. It is probable that further exploration will reveal a more extensive area of deposits. The region is of great importance to Mexico, as at present the only sources of coal are the fields near the U. S. border. Steel mills are also located in the North, and finished products must travel 600 to 800 miles to the area of consumption in central Mexico. The Oaxaca coal, only 120 miles south of Mexico, D.F., lies close to several iron ore deposits. If this coal can be used in steel production is will be possible for the Mexican steel industry to reach new dimensions, commensurate with the growing industry of the central region. Coal can be utilized in thermoelectric plants in this area, which lacks not only petroleum and natural gas but also electric power. It can be used as domestic fuel, replacing charcoal and firewood.

The Federal government has a lengthy history in supporting and conducting research in the ocean mining and minerals field. The Federal effort has been and is currently focused primarily in four agencies: the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) within the Department of Commerce, and the Geological Survey (USGS), the Bureau of Mines (BuMines), and more recently the Minerals Management Service (MMS) within the Department of the Interior. While NOAA and the USGS have played dominant roles in mapping and geologic studies, and the MMS has recently provided funding for several task force studies within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) , the Bureau of Mines has conducted research in mining technology, minerals processing, resource definition, and economic evaluation of minerals from the seabed for over 20 years. These studies have yielded considerable minerals information regarding manganese nodules and crusts, placers, mineral sands, phosphorites, and sulfides. This paper reviews the past achievements in ocean mining and minerals programs starting in the late 1960's, describes current research and information efforts, and presents an outlook for Bureau of Mines research and information gathering efforts. Les haldes à stériles contenant des minéraux sulfureux réactifs constituent un milieu favorable à la production du drainage minier acide (DMA). Au sein de ces haldes, les processus physiques, géochimiques et biologiques qui mènent à la production du DMA sont nombreux et complexes. Un des aspects critiques qui affecte la génération de DMA est la distribution et le mouvement de l?eau dans les roches stériles. La modélisation numérique est un outil qui permet de comprendre, pour éventuellement contrôler, les mouvements de l?eau (et donc réduire la production du DMA) dans les haldes pendant la période d?exploitation de la mine et à sa fermeture. Plusieurs simulations numériques des écoulements non saturés dans des haldes ont été effectuées. Pour ces simulations, on a considéré divers types de matériaux, diverses conditions atmosphériques et diverses configurations géométriques. Les simulations réalisées montrent que l?on peut contrôler les mouvements de l?eau en introduisant des couches de matériaux fins intercalées dans les haldes formées de matériaux grossiers. Des couches horizontales ne sont cependant pas appropriées puisqu?elles peuvent, dans certains cas, favoriser la création de zones humides susceptibles d?amplifier les effets du DMA. Une faible inclinaison des couches de matériaux fins vers l?extérieur permet de palier à ce problème. Les couches inclinées favorisent un drainage des haldes vers la périphérie. Ceci a pour effet de garder sèche une grande partie des stériles et de réduire, par le fait même, la production du DMA.

A sequence of ultramafic units, very well exposed in Munro township in the Abitibi areal, of the Cahadian Shield, exhibit features which indicate that they are sub-aqueous extrusions. They occur within a sequence of tholeiitic pillow lavas, thin graphitic sediments. and large differentiated sills. The units range from a few metres to more than 250 m in length and less than 1 m to over 30 m in thickness. Over 60 individual units, occurring as flat pancakes on top of one another, make up a total exposed thickness of 150 m. The units have formed from a magma composed of a very olivine-rich picritic liquid carrying up,to 40 per cent olivine phenocrysts in suspension. Different units display a variety,of cross-sectional profiles. As an example of the most extreme type of profile, a typical unit 2 m thick consists of a cap of highly jointed fine-grained quenched rock, 10-30 cm thick, which becomes coarser downwards, grading into a zone composed of radiating and criss- crossing skeletal olivine crystals forming the well-known spinifex texture. This becomes even coarser-grained downwards, with "books" of parallel platey olivine crystals developing sub-perpendicular to the plane of the units. INTRODUCTION Screening is a mechanical process that separates particles by size. Modern coal preparation is made possible by efficient sizing. Sizing of coal is defined in terms of the opening through which an individual particle will or will not pass, or as two openings, the larger of which passes the particle and the smaller of which retains the particle. Screening accomplishes sizing by passing coal of a wide range of sizes through a series of screens, each of a decreasing size. The individual screen discharges are then directed into different screen products for subsequent sale or processing. Screening in modern preparation plants is done for the following reasons: 1 ) Removal of fine coal before a size reduction step. 2) Size separation of the coal into a coarse and fine fraction for sized products or processing in coarse and fine coal circuits. 3) Recovery of heavy media from heavy media coal cleaning circuits. 4) Dewatering. 5) Rock and trash removal by handpicking on a screen. Fig. 8-1 is a generalized flowsheet of a plant showing the use of screens in the coal preparation process. Table 8-1 shows the vibrating screen equipment utilized in Fig. 8-1

The object of this study was to evaluate the oxidized taconites of the western Mesabi iron range and to establish a correlation between the various basic taconite types and their concentratability. The initial work included a study of the original mineralogical and stratigraphic facies of the fresh taconite and traced the oxidation and leaching patterns developed during the conversion of this material to oxidized taconite. Subsequent studies have extended this work to include the semitaconites and also the wash and heavy media ore types widely developed in the area. Each basic original mineralogical facies or taconite type produces during alteration an equivalent secondary oxidized facies which has a unique mineralogical composition and texture. These control the concentratability of the oxidized taconites. Actually the influence of the original mineralogical composition of the iron formation extends even further and determines whether the most likely product of oxidation and leaching will be a wash ore or a heavy media ore and even to the direct shipping ores where the ratio of hematite to goethite is largely determined by the original taconite type. The relationship between original taconite, oxidized taconite, semitaconites, and wash and heavy media ores is briefly summarized in Table I. The terms are not precise and in some instances tend to overlap. The table is intended to point out only the essential differences between the various materials. The original taconite was dominantly composed of mixtures of magnetite, iron carbonate, iron silicate, and quartz (chert). In a few thin stratigraphic units, hematite was present as an original constituent. The alteration of the original taconite to oxidized taconite has resulted from the circulation of ground waters through an initial fracture system related to minor structures in the iron formation. The chemical reactions have involved the oxidation and decomposition of original minerals such as magnetite, iron carbonate, and iron silicates to hematite or goethite. The alteration at this early stage is characterized by pseudomorphic replacement of the original minerals by oxidation products although retaining the major textural features of the original taconite. There was very little secondary migration of iron at this stage and the total iron content of the rock has been only slightly increased. Further alteration of this material to form a semi-taconite, a wash or a heavy media ore, involves extensive removal of silica in solution and significant redistribution of iron units. Wash and heavy media ores are developed by the growth of coarse secondary iron layers, dominantly goethite, coupled with the removal of silica in solution and decomposition of the cherty layers. This paper is concerned primarily with the materials classified as oxidized taconites which are characterized by oxidation of the original mineral constituents with little secondary enrichment. The area studied, shown on the index map, Fig. 1, extends some 30 miles along the strike of the Biwabik formation roughly from Hibbing to Coleraine. This study was greatly facilitated by the basic stratigraphic and mineralogical studies of Gruner1 and white2. The bulk of the material in this presentation represents a portion of the author's contribution to a study sponsored by the Great Northern Railway on the oxidized taconites of the western Mesabi.3 METHOD OF APPROACH A total of 106 drill holes, representing some 30,000 ft of drilling, were examined and sampled. The drill holes were logged and some 1500 composite samples were prepared for chemical analysis and bench scale metallurgical tests. These samples were analyzed for total iron and ferrous iron; and magnetite iron was determined by a standard Davis tube test at minus 200 mesh. Standard reduction roast tests using 150-gram samples of minus 10 mesh material were made on these 1500 composite samples with a mixture of H2, CO2, N2, and H2O at a temperature of 650°C. This roasted material was pulverized through 150 mesh and concentrated in the Davis tube. The iron recoveries and concentrate grades obtained on the roasted products were used to assess the concentratability of the oxidized taconites. Detailed mineralogical work was done on thin sec-

"Using the facility of reduction experiment, the low temperature reduction pulverization and reduction behavior of sinter in oxygen blast furnace (OBF) were studied. Through analyzing the results, the difference of pulverization and reduction behavior of sinter in OBF and conventional blast furnace (BF) were discussed. Furthermore, the effect laws of reduction temperature and the content of CO and H2 on reduction behavior of sinter were studied. Also the controlling step of iron oxide reduction was discussed. Compared with BF, the low temperature reduction pulverization of sinter became serious at 773 K; reduction rate became faster at 1173 K; reduction time became less and final reduction degree was increased in OBF. With increasing of H2 and CO contents, the reduction of sinter was promoted. The reduction process was controlled by interface chemical reaction at the earlier stage and by interface chemical reaction and internal diffusion at the final stage.IntroductionThe new ironmaking technology of Oxygen Blast Furnace (OBF) is most likely to be used in large-scale application process. The concept relies on the removal of the CO2 contained in the top gas of the blast furnace. Therefore the useful components, i.e. CO+H2, can be recycled back into the furnace and reused as reducing agents. In addition, injecting oxygen (O2) into the furnace instead of preheated air, removes unwanted nitrogen (N2) from the gas. Under the pressure of CO2 emissions in iron and steel making, the growing international shortage of coking coal resources and the rising price of coke, OBF has attracted attentions of both domestic and foreign researchers, because it has so many advantages such as high productivity, high PCI rate, low coke rate, high gas reducing capability and high top gas calorific value, etc [1-7]. As a result of recycling most of the top gas after CO2 removal and injecting oxygen into the furnace, the reduction capacity of blast furnace gas will be increased, so the metallurgical behavior of OBF's iron burden is different from traditional blast furnace. Therefore, it is one of the keys to develop this technology, which studies the metallurgical behavior of sinter in OBF. The purpose of this paper is to study the low temperature reduction pulverization and reduction behavior of sinter at the atmosphere of OBF, which includes the difference of low temperature reduction pulverization and reduction behavior of sinter in oxygen blast furnace and conventional Blast Furnace (BF). It will provide theoretical basis for the development of OBF."

"Every nation must decide how it should exploit its mineral resources so as to contribute most to its national objectives. It is argued that the present value of the future corporate income tax flow derived from mineral exploitation may serve as a useful indicator in moving toward a taxation policy that would contribute optimally toward the greatest public benefit.The future stream of corporate income taxes depends largely on the mineral endowment, consisting of deposits now being mined, known unmined deposits, and unknown deposits.Unknown deposits may be estimated by geological inference. Both known and unknown deposits can be categorized according to grade and size, and divided into economic and uneconomic deposits on the basis of certain prices, costs, rate of return and taxation levels.Computer simulations can be run of discounted cash flow models at various taxation levels to show the impact of taxation changes on future tax revenues."

This article discusses four principal areas relevant to financing direct reduction facilities: (1) Lenders' differing requirements with respect to projected cash flows; (2) The impact of leveraging on project viability; (3) The importance of appropriate debt structure; (4) The significance of accurate and complete capital cost estimates. The overall findings emphasize the inseparable connection between the project economics and its financeability, and particularly how direcly intertwined they both are in the project planning.
