TIE fundamental principle of resistance thermometry lies in the determination of temperatures by the measurement of an electrical conductor subjected to various temperatures and the translation of the resultant changes, in ohms, into temperature equivalents. Such resistance measurements can be made with maximum precision by the use of a standard Wheatstone bridge and a reflecting galvanometer of high sensitivity. Under such conditions, results are obtainable that may be accurate within 0.1 or even 0.01 per cent., and the "idiosyncrasies" of heated electrical conductors can be studied with advantage and profit, even if the latter is not of a financial nature. The chief requisites for producing a serviceable -commercial instrument may be enumerated as follows: First, there must be a resistor or "bulb" that can stand the maximum temperature without deterioration and which has a pronounced temperature coefficient. Second, there should be constructed an "even" bridge, having two fixed arms of equal values, in ohms. Third, a rheostat, the maximum resistance of which will be equal to the total change in the resistance of the bulb, between temperature extremes, is required. Fourth, there must be a sensitive galvanometer which is aperiodic, or nearly so. Finally, there should be a fairly steady source of direct current. The general scheme of this type of apparatus, in its simplest form, can be readily understood by reference to Fig. 1. Resistors A and B are constructed of manganin, therlo, or some other resistance wire having a negligible temperature coefficient. The sensitive D'Arsonval galvanometer G has its zero in the center. R is a rheostat and X is a resistor or bulb made of insulated platinum wire, or else of nickel, copper, or some alloy, according to requirements. K is a battery, but a direct-current service line is often used instead, with sufficient ballast in series to properly reduce the current.

Early last March Mr. Jerome Coldren, an old miner add prospector, undertook a prospecting tour through the western part of Kansas, and discovered a very peculiar bed of rock, which yielded a white metal on fusion with soda. Mr. W. D. Church, city chemist at Topeka, examined the metal and found it to contain nickel. This discovery created much excitement, and was at first doubted. Many samples of the material, from a range of twenty miles, were sent to the Smithsonian Institution for examination ; and in every instance a qualitative test showed the presence of nickel, although the amount appeared to vary greatly. The ore is quite different from any other nickel-ore. It consists of a quartzose conglomerate from bean-size down, with much decomposed material between the pebbles, and the whole cemented by a more or less manganiferous limonite. In the qualitative tests, the nickel appeared to vary with the manganese. In all the tests, simple treatment with HCI dissolved a great deal of AI2O3. The principal deposit is near the top of a small hill on the divide between Smoky Hill river and Butte creek. The surface-rock is the conglomerate, and, at varying distances, stains of the limonite appear and gradually increase ; so that the ore is simply the lower portion of a bed of conglomerate which has been heavily charged with the manganiferous limonite. Below the conglomerate is a layer of selenite; below this, a soft sandstone, containing well-preserved fossils, and below the sandstone, a shale. From 2 to 6 per cent. of nickel in selected samples has been reported by different chemists; but the following two analyses on large samples show the average composition of the material:

Though coal has been mined in this country for more than a century, no systematic effort was ever successfully made to ascertain the total amount produced. The production of the Cumberland Basin, Md., and the shipments from the anthracite fields of Pennsylvania, have been placed upon record, thanks to the intelligence and foresight of Mr. C. Slack in the former case, and to the late Mr. B. Bannan in the latter. For some of the years between 1822 and 1842, the production of the Richmond Basin was reported by Mr. R. C. Taylor, but since that date till the author undertook this work it was impossible to obtain any statement of the production of this field. A few of the newer fields, such as that of Mt. Diablo, Cal., have been fully reported, and a few of the newer States have also had this service performed by some intelligent private individuals; but no statistics of coal production have ever been collected either by the State or General Government, if we except the returns for the years 1869—70 of the census report. During the year 1875, by great exertions, I succeeded in obtaining, and July 3d, 1875, gave in the Engineering and Mining Journal what, " though not an accurate statement of our coal production," was " by far the most full and reliable that had ever been published." Though that report showed the production of bituminous coal to be 23,630,094 gross tons, or about six million tons more than had ever before been reported, it was in reality two and a half million tons below the actual output. By contrast with viscometry and sedimentation, no actual measurements of the applicability of Stokes' law to steelmaking have ever been reported; instead, the proof for and against Stokes' law has been inferred from the frequently observed phenomenon that inclusions collect in the top scum and the bottom of ingots. As such proof is unsatisfactory, continued reference to Stokes' law in steelmaking, even as a model for calculating the terminal velocities of rising inclusions, should be avoided. In fact, all conclusions that have been reached regarding size, density, and viscosity on the flotation of inclusions could be made more rationally without Stokes' law. A worthwhile exception is that of Mitsche1 who in 1934 used Stokes' law to show not only the expected effects of size, density, and viscosity on flotation but also the beneficial effects of i) melting under a slag layer (now Electro Slag Refining); ii) treating melts with synthetic slags (Ref. 2 gives recent applications); iii) bubbling an inert gas through the melt (recent applications in Refs. 3 and 4); and iv) altering the solid/ liquid interface characteristics. At this point, it should again be emphasized that the boundary conditions for which Stokes' law was derived place enormous restrictions on the law but its application, as noted earlier, can yield useful results in some fields under certain conditions and within well-defined limits. When compared with inclusions, which may be solid or liquid, spherical or irregular, dispersed or coagulated, interacting between themselves and the melt, floating in a liquid which is in a state of motion of varying intensity5 and contained in vessels of various shapes and sizes that may change with time as in a solidifying ingot, the conclusion is obvious-Stokes'

The absence of a convenient glossary- of terms connected with mining and metallurgy has long been felt by the general public. It is to meet this want, not to furnish a technical manual for experts, that the following glossary has been prepared. It originated in an attempt on my part to revise for publication the manuscript of a compilation prepared from the appendix of Yale's work on Mining Titles and one or two other sources, to serve as an appendix to a new work on mining law, about to be published by Mr. H. N. Copy, of Washington, D. C. This revision soon assumed, contrary to my original intention, the proportions of a reconstruction; and with the consent of Mr. Copp, and for the purpose of receiving from my fellow-members valuable aid, I presented my still incomplete work as a paper at the Lake Superior meeting of the Institute, inviting from any quarter suggestions of new terms or better definitions to be incorporated in the glossary before its final publication. This invitation was so widely and generously responded to, that I cannot undertake to make in this place individual acknowledgments to those members of the Institute, and professional colleagues outside of it, who have favored me with assistance and advice. The three basic ingredients of fertilizers are nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Nitrogen comes from natural gas or other sources and is usually a "manufactured" ingredient. Phosphorus and potassium come from mineral sources which are mined in open pit and underground mines all over the world. Phosphorus is one of the 15 chemical elements needed to sustain life. Along with nitrogen and potassium, it is essential to the fertility of the soil and to the growth of plant life. Plants require phosphorus for proper soil conditions, early root formation, and crop maturity. Humans and animals require phosphorus for bone and tooth development. The primary raw material for phosphorous fertilizers is phosphate rock. It is found and mined in many areas of the world. Morocco, the United States, USSR, Tunisia, and some Pacific Islands are the leading rock producers. Other sources of phosphate are guano, bone meal, and other natural organics, but these comprise a very small percentage of all phosphate used. Phosphate rock in the United States is mined in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Idaho, and Montana. Florida alone produces about 70% of all the rock mined in this country, mostly from a 20 X 30 mile area in Polk and Hillsborough Counties in central Florida known as the Bone Valley district. There are phosphate reserves in many parts of Florida, and within the past three years mining has begun in north Florida in Hamilton Country (see Fig. 1). In 1967, world phosphate rock production was about 75 million short tons (st). THE statistical analysis of blast-furnace data was undertaken to determine some of the relations which exist between the variables involved in furnace operation, and particularly to show the effect of variation of slag composition on such economically important factors as coke consumption, daily tonnage of pig iron and sulfur elimination. It was desired to correlate the results obtained in- commercial practice with those predicted from a study of the quaternary system lime-alumina-silica-magnesia. This paper presents the results of a preliminary study of blast-furnace daily operating reports, and is intended to indicate the suitability of our method of attack and something of the results that may be expected from an extended statistical examination of such data. It has been shown that blast-furnace slags are not composed of oxides, as reported by chemical analysis, but are actually composed of several compounds, each made up of two or more of the oxides present.1 These compounds persist in the liquid state, and the properties of a slag are the properties of a mixture of these compounds, and not of a mixture of the ultimate oxides .2,3 The oxides lime, alumina, silica and magnesia make up 94 to 96 per cent. of the usual blast-furnace slag, and assuming that we may neglect the remainder of the components, we may determine the minerals present, and their relative proportions, from a study of the quaternary system involving these four oxides. Operating reports from 15 furnaces were available for this investigation. Complete slag analyses for one slag per day were available, permitting the calculation of the mineral composition of the slags used. Basic, malleable and foundry irons, with silicon varying from 0.75 to 4.50 per cent. were included in the reports for this examination.

The Eagle mine is situated in the Kerber Creek mining district, Bonanza, Saguache County, Colo. The climate and topography of this district arc similar to those of mining camps of the Rocky Mountain region that lie 9000 to 12,000 ft. above sea level. The district is at the northeasterly edge of the San Juan volcanic region, in which successive Tertiary lavas have built up a high plateau resting upon earlier sedimentary formations, or the underlying pre-Cambrian complex. The latter was exposed in places by erosion previous to the eruptions. In the Bonanza district, proper, only volcanic formations, andesites and latites, are found. Dr. H. B. Patton,1 in his survey of the district, discriminates between several varieties of lavas and maps these as distinct flows. They are local variations within the same lava and it is impossible to determine any distinct line of demarkation between them. Structurally they are members of the same flow. There are three general types of vein occurrences: 1. Lead-zinc-copper-silver-gold veins in well-defined fissures with a quartz gangue; ill these, the various sulfides show a zonal arrangement. 2. Massive gray copper ores high in silver, in irregular fractures in the form of small lenses and pockets, in which little or no quartz is found. 3. Manganiferous quartz veins very low in silver and gold at the surface which, with depth, become important silver veins containing subordinate amounts of gold. These veins have a quartz gangue with an abundance of Phodochrosite. The silver is associated with small amounts of sphalerite, galena, and pyrite; fluorite also is present. The Eagle is the only mine that has been developed in the manganiferous quartz type of vein. It was discovered ill the fall of 1582, but little more than assessment work was done on the property for a number of

This paper is presented in the belief that metallurgists and chemists will be interested in the practice of grinding in tube-mills in connection with stamps, especially since the records of working here given extend over a lengthy period of time (since May, 1905). The ore from the Waihi mine—more especially that produced in the upper levels—contains a large proportion of hard, chalce-donic quartz, and the gold exists in an exceedingly fine state, conditions which necessitate very fine crushing in order to obtain a high extraction of the precious metal. Before the introduction of tube-mills at the 90-stamp Waihi mill, it was found necessary to stamp through 40-mesh (1,600 holes per sq. in.) woven wire-screens, having a fairly high discharge. The pulp then graded : Per Cent. Per Cent. Although the extraction on this pulp was: gold, from 88 to 90 per cent., and silver, from 74 to 78 per cent., it was recognized that finer grinding of the sands would prove beneficial, provided a machine could be found to do this work economically. Various grinding-mills and pans were tried, but without satisfactory results, the particles of sand being so hard that the capacity of any of the machines was too small to be economical. Cobriza can only be described as the Machu Picchu of the mining business. This relatively new mine of the Cerro de Pasco Corp. in Peru, subsidiary of The Cerro Corp., was put on stream in December 1967. The best way to get there is to go in the company's HelioCourier with pilot Paco Perez. The plane is mostly engine and the pilot is without nerves. The trip starts at an elevation of 12,000 ft at La Oroya and ends at the Cobriza air strip near the top of the Continental Divide at 14,200 ft. Perez says this is the highest air strip in the world. The flight is made at an altibude below many of the peaks and it is easy to pick out the Inca Trail which follows the ridge line of the top of the Andes. Inca ruins are also visible from the aircraft. The drainage pattern, with a surprising number of lakes and rivers, can be seen and so, too, can a great deal of structural geology and numerous agricultural settlements dotting the altiplano. Cobriza is in the monta[n]a on the east side of the Andes, which is characterized by tropical climate and vegetation, an abrupt change from the frosty mountain atmosphere. The mountainsides are precipitous and the bottoms of the steep valleys are channels for roaring rivers. Such is the setting of Cobriza, above the swift cataracts of the Mantaro, benched out precariously at about 8700 ft elevation. The mountains rise in majestic splendor and the sun comes up late and sets at 3: 30 on winter afternoons. One of the lowest of the Cerro de Pasco camps, it is the most remote.

It is now recognized that several important types of reactions in metallic systems proceed by the formation of nuclei and the growth of these nuclei. The process of freezing is a simple example of this, as Tammann pointed out years ago.1 Tammann held that the rate of freezing is determined by a rate of nucleation, expressed as the number of nuclei formed per unit volume of unfrozen liquid per second, and a rate of growth of these nuclei, expressed as the linear rate of radial growth in units of length per second. For isothermal freezing the conception is simple; for ordinary freezing, extending over a range of temperature, it is not as simple, for the values of the two constants must change with change in temperature. There is ample evidence that the postulated mechanism is correct even though a quantitative derivation of the rate of isothermal or of ordinary freezing in terms of the two constants has been lacking. In recent years other reactions have been found to proceed in a similar fashion. It has been well established, particularly by Bain12-8 that the formation of pearlite from the eutectoid decomposition of the solid solution austenite proceeds in such a way, and Polanyi and Schmid, Tammann and Crone, Karnop and Sachs, and others9-11 have shown that the process of recrystallization proceeds in a similar way. Isothermal reaction rates have been determined for eutectoid decomposition by a number of investigators. Bain's2-8 work on the formation of pearlite from austenite is especially valuable in this respect—the type of isothermal reaction curve obtained, as illustrated in Fig. 13, showed an initial slow rate, accelerating to an intermediate maximum rate which then decelerated to the completion of the reaction; similar curves have been obtained by Wever and his collaborators.12 Other eutectoid decompositions show similar behavior: for example, the decomposition of the beta eutectoid in the copper-aluminum system, studied by Smith

Many proposals have recently been made regarding the broadening of engineering education, often with little consideration of the problems their application involves. The chief purpose of this paper is to point out how many and how complex are the questions that absolutely must be answered, in any conscientious effort to solve the problem of liberalizing engineering curricula. Among proposed additions, more training than is now given has been urged in public speaking, report writing, business law and contra s, general finance, money and banking, scientific management, gene ' economics, economic and financial history, social problems, labor pre lems, public ownership, psychology and similar related subjects. T urge in this direction is widespread and persistent. In discussing the blem, the following questions must be given careful consideration, an he absolutely definite conclusion reached: 1. The Present Curriculum Load.—Is this load actually too heavy? In the face of this load, is there room to add broadening subjects to our curricula? Can elimination of present subject matter make room for such additions? Can an elective system accomplish the desired end? 2. Problem of Early Specialization.—Is early specialization a weak ness? Is industry forcing early specialization? Do our varied degrees demand early specialization? Can broadening be harmonized with the present degree of specialization? 3. Graduate Work to Solve the Broadening Problem.—Can we add the desired work in the graduate school? Are the proposed additions of graduate caliber? Is it desired to reduce graduate standards? Can present undergraduate work be removed to the graduate school, to make room for desired broadening courses? Is graduate work normally broadening, or is it specialization ? 4. Importance of Proposed Additions.—Will they increase entrance salaries? Will they increase the engineer's efficiency? Will they raise

Anderson, King, and Spreadborough present detailed evidence to show what ~aldwin~' has already pointed out, that, over a relatively small grain-size range (Ad"1/2 ^ 10 mm-'I2, d is average grain diameter), yield point data can fit a number of relationships. Part of the difficulty in obtaining data which reflect only the effect of change in grain size on yielding arises from the fact that in varying the grain size, even though great care is taken, other structural changes are almost certain to occur. In iron alloys, these changes may consist of variations in subgrain size, grain boundary ledge density, and degree of carbon and nitrogen segregation at grain boundaries, all of which are difficult to detect and which may affect yielding, primarily through their effect on dislocation generation. Because of the inherent inaccuracy associated with yield point measurements there is little point in using relatively complex equations to fit data, as was done by Anderson et mnl., rather than the simpler, widely used Hall-Petch equation. In compiling their table of data, it is surprising that they did not include results from certain low-carbon steels,31 in which, as illustrated in Fig. 2, the grain-size range is very much larger than in their Armco Iron. The very fine grains in these steels were obtained by a thermomechanical process. Examination by electron microscopy showed that the grains were separated by high-angle boundarie and contained only an occasional subboundary. The data from these steels obeyed the Hall-Petch equation, and it was shown quite conclusively that they did not fit a d-l or (1-lJ3 relationship. Obviously, a much wider range in grain size than used by Anderson et al. is desirable if we are to determine the true relation between lower yield stress and grain size.

IN connection with certain coöperative work carried on between the Ordnance Department of the U. S. Army, the U. S. Bureau of Mines, and the U. S. Geological Survey during the year 1918, it was the writers' privilege to make metallographic examinations of a great many test bars and other pieces of nickel-steel gun forgings. The material studied came from many different steel plants throughout the country and consisted both of forgings that had been accepted by the Ordnance Department and those that had failed to pass the specified physical tests. In general, these tests require a minimum tensile strength of 95,000 lb. (42,091 kg.), an elastic limit of 65,000 lb. (29,483 kg.), an 18 per cent. elongation, and a 30 per cent. reduction in area. An average chemical composition of the steel studied is 0.38 per cent. carbon and 2.9 per cent. nickel. The steel was of both basic electric and basic open-hearth manufacture. The object of the metallographic work was two-fold: to assist in detecting defects in the steel and, if possible, to suggest remedies for the same; and to obtain as much information as possible in regard to the relation of the microstructure of the metal to its physical properties. The greater part of the investigation was devoted to defective metal that failed to pass the ordnance specifications. Many types and kinds of more or less serious defects thus came under observation, but most of these were due to the attempts by the manufacturer to meet the enormous demand for ordnance steel with more or less inadequate equipment, and were soon remedied. Two defects, the so-called "flakes" or "snowflakes" and a certain "fibrous" or "woody" fracture, were encountered so frequently and were so disastrous to the steel that the greater part of the study was devoted to them. The Mather mine, of the Negaunee Mine Co., is within the limits of the City of Ishpeming. on the Marquette iron range in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It is named for William G. Mather, who has served as President, and Chairman of the Board, of The Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Co. for well over 50 years. The property comprises nearly the square mile of section 2, T.47 N. R.27 W., which, except for 20 acres in the northeast corner, was leased by The Cleve-land-cliffs Iron Co. to the Negaunee company. The latter is a partnership of Cleveland-Cliffs and the Bethlehem Steel Co., organized to equip the property, retaining Cliffs in charge as operator. Shipments of ore from this area are mainly through Marquette, which is 16 miles to the northeast on Lake Superior, or through Escanaba, a Lake Michigan port, 65 miles to the south. Cleveland-Cliffs, in 1943, operated 12 mines in the Lake Superior district, with shipments of 6,635,576 tons for the year. Geology The north footwall of the Marquette Range synclinorium outcrops near the north line of set. 2, the iron formation dipping to the south at an angle of about 40. The south side of the trough reappears at a distance of 4J5 miles on sec. 26 and the surface geology between shows iron forma- tion or intrusive diorites. The latter are harder than most phases of the iron formation and, as a result of glacial action, appear as buttes or low-lying hills. The general elevation of sec. 2 is about 1450 ft. above sea level, or 850 ft. above Lake Superior, and the higher diorite outcroppings about 1600 ft. above sea level. The geological structure has been complicated by a series of major and minor faults, one of which may be illustrated by the diorite sheet, which tilts south with the iron formation in the north half of the section and then reappears near the center to repeat this sequence. Sectionally the geological series includes a nearly eroded capping of Goodrich quartzite followed by the considerable thickness of Negaunee iron formation, which is cut by intrusive dikes or diorite sheets, and underlain by the Siamo slates grading into quartzites. THE Mather mine, of the Negaunee Mine Co., is within the limits of the City of Ishpeming, on the Marquette iron- range in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It is named for William G. Mather, who has served as President, and Chairman of the Board, of The Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Co. for well over 50 years. The property comprises nearly the square mile of section 2, T.47 N. R.27 W., which, except for 20 acres in the northeast corner, was leased by The Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Co. to the Negaunee company. The latter is a partnership of Cleveland-Cliffs and the Bethlehem Steel Co., organized to equip the property, retaining Cliffs in charge as operator. Shipments of ore from this area are mainly through Marquette, which is 16 miles to the northeast on Lake Superior, or through Escanaba, a Lake Michigan port, 65 miles to the south. Cleveland-Cliffs, in 1943, operated 12 mines in the Lake Superior district, with shipments of 6,635,576 tons for the year. GEOLOGY The north footwall of the Marquette Range synclinorium outcrops near the north line of sec. 2, the iron formation dipping to the south at an angle of about 40º. The south side of the trough reappears at a distance of 4 ½ miles on sec. 26 and the surface geology between shows iron formation or intrusive diorites. The latter are harder than most phases of the iron formation and, as a result of glacial action, appear as buttes or low-lying hills. The general elevation of sec. 2 is about 1450 ft. above sea level, or 850ft. above Lake Superior, and the higher diorite outcroppings about 1600 ft. above sea level. The geological structure has been complicated by a series of major and minor faults, one of which may be illustrated by the diorite sheet, which tilts south with the iron formation in the north half of the section and then reappears near the center to repeat this sequence. Sectionally the geological series includes a nearly eroded capping of Goodrich quartzite followed by the considerable thickness of Negaunee iron formation, which is cut by intrusive dikes or diorite sheets, and underlain by the Siamo slates grading into quartzites. Craig (University of Toronto, Toronto, O,nt., Canada)—The advent of pyramidal slip at room temperatures in a magnesium crystal (M2,) and the very low value reported for the critical shear stress are puzzling. Table I1 shows the calculated values (approximate) for sin x cos I in this specimen if all the (10l) planes are considered. If So is the shear stress resolved in the direction of glide, on the glide plane, and U, is the stress operative in yield point tests, then: S,, — 325 (0.169) 55gpersqmm (approximately) for 1101: S,, = 325 (0.465) = 151 gpersqmm (approximately) for (0001): S,, — 325 (0.101) - 32.8 gpersqmm (approximately) Thus, we see the pyramidal plane in which the minimum shearing component operated. Barrett"' stated: "Experiments have repeatedly shown that, when there are several crystallographically equivalent slip systems in a crystal, the one having the greatest resolved shear stress will become active. ..." It does not appear to me that the measurements given are conclusive proof that pyramidal slip operated. E. C. Burke and W. R. Hibbard, Jr. (authors' reply) —Although the low value for the critical resolved shear stress for pyramidal slip may be puzzling, there does not appear to be any basis for questioning the validity of the measurements. Under the influence of constraints, slip systems having decidedly lower shearing components may become operative, e.g., "cross-slip" or the "forced glide" in magnesium reported by Bakarian. Since we believe that pyramidal slip occurred in the specimen because basal slip was inhibited, it is not too surprising to find an operative plane with a lower shear stress. -7 C. S. A Discussion of Mr. Hall's paper, read at the Washington Meeting, February, 1905. R. H. SWEETSER, Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. (communication to the Secretary*) :-The recent work of furnace No. 1 of The Algoma Steel Co., at Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, using for fuel, first all charcoal, then a mixture of charcoal and coke, and finally all coke, upsets the estimates given by Mr. Hall in the last two paragraphs of his interesting paper. Furnace No. 1 was built for a charcoal-furnace, and it was run on charcoal fuel from March 6 until July 9, 1905; then, for a week, a mix¬ture of charcoal and coke was used, and, since then, coke alone has been the only fuel. It is to be regretted that at no time, during the run on charcoal, was there enough charcoal on hand and " in sight'" to warrant blowing the furnace as hard as it should have been blown. During April and May the supply of charcoal limited the amount of blast to about 8,000 cu. ft. of air per min.; in June, to about 8,900 cubic feet. For a few days in July about 10,000 cu. ft. were blown, and then the maximum daily output, 173 tons (2,240 1b.), was reached. At all times the quality of the charcoal was poor, having been made from wood cut from three to four years before. Doubtless this furnace could have produced .200 tons of iron per day, even with this quality of charcoal, provided the supply had been sufficient; and with good charcoal I see no reason why it could not make as much iron per day as it has made with coke. During the one week of using a mixture of charcoal and coke, the changes in quantity of blast and composition of the slag followed each other so closely that no single condition could last long on the furnace. The results were good, and the pig-iron was about the same in quality as that made during the
