"The Nechalacho deposit, located in the Northwest Territories, Canada, is a heavy rare earth element (REE) deposit. The main REE-bearing minerals in the deposit are zircon, allanite, bastnäsite, synchysite, columbite (Fe) and fergusonite. Previous work investigated the use of gravity and magnetic separation in the processing of this ore and showed that coarse particles following grinding were enriched in zircon, suggesting the potential for selective comminution. The current work investigates the possibility to selectively comminute gangue minerals and concentrate REE-bearing zircon into coarser size fractions. The ore was ground wet in a laboratory rod mill for various lengths of time (0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 min). The resultant products were analyzed using ICP-MS, to determine the distribution of zirconium and REEs in the different size fractions produced after grinding, and QEMSCAN, to identify mineral phases, mineral liberation and the distribution of minerals. Optimum grind sizes for the upgrading of zircon due to selective comminution were then proposed, and dense medium separation was investigated as a means to further concentrate zircon.It is important to note that this process is not representative of the currently selected process design or recovery for the Nechalacho deposit. Any application of this process to this deposit would require optimization in order to ensure appropriate grade and recovery targets are met.INTRODUCTIONThe rare earth elements (REEs) are the fifteen elements in the lanthanide series of the Periodic Table, as well as yttrium (scandium is excluded in this work). Traditionally, REEs are categorized into two groups: the cerium sub-group of “light” rare earth elements (LREEs); and the yttrium sub-group of “heavy” rare earth elements (HREEs) (Golev et al., 2014). The LREEs comprise the first six lanthanides (lanthanum through samarium) and the HREEs comprise the remaining nine lanthanide elements (europium through lutetium) coupled with yttrium (Golev et al., 2014). HREEs are much less abundant in the earth’s crust and on average are more expensive than LREEs (Seredin, 2010). Of the fifteen REEs, the production of neodymium, europium, terbium, dysprosium and yttrium has been determined to be most critical due to their scarcity, high demand and criticality in many high-technology and clean energy applications, such as in illuminated screens for electronic devices and permanent magnets in wind turbines (Seredin, 2010; U.S. Department of Energy, 2011). These five elements are classified as critical rare earth elements (CREEs) (U.S. Department of Energy, 2011)."

During copper smelting and converting processes, slag generated is pyrometallurgically cleaned and then disposed, containing around 1 % of this metal. However, important amount of molybdenum initially contained in concentrates also goes to the slag phase. Research on molybdenum recovery from water granulated slags using acid leaching at low temperatures was conducted to find an efficient way for molybdenum extraction with lower magnetite in the slag. However because of the high fayalite content high acid consumption was found. Molybdenum can be recovered from solution using ionic exchange resins, but high silica content interferes with extraction. Some studies addressed to minimize silica extraction as well as alternatives of selective silica precipitation in order to develop a technically feasible process.

This paper presents an application of digital face mapping in an underground mine. Based on photographs it was possible to construct discontinuity maps, which were used to characterise the rock mass. The results were compared favourably with values obtained through scanline and area sampling mapping for the same site. The case is made for digital mapping as a safe, fast, and efficient way to characterise rock mass structure for engineering purposes.

From a strategic and economic point of view, the development of fine grain high strength steels for long distance pipelines is intensified world wide to satisfy the demand for natural gas in the future.The project related property profiles based on strength, toughness, crack arrest and sometimes resistance against HIC at defined design temperatures require an effective structural refinement using advanced steelmaking and processing in the rolling mill. The microstructure of modern line pipe steels ranges from ferritic pearlitic to ferritic-bainitic and structures where bainite is the dominant component, possibly upgraded by secondary phases. This paper illustrates microstructures and properties of recent orders on line pipe steels both for onshore and offshore application using different processing routes in the plate mill. Examples will be given for SAWL 485 offshore grades, X65 HIC and X70 HIC onshore grades, respectively. Finally, production results of a recent X80 order will be presented.

The correct application of large crater blasts in unfrozen tar sand is an effective means of resisting frost penetration during winter. This results in much higher productivity and considerably less down time with excavators during winter operations. The resulting flatter angle of repose of the highwall has readily been accommodated with slight modification to bucket-wheel excavator operating procedure. Other mining schemes call for large draglines to be located on top of the highwall, which can be as high as J80 feet. The question now arises as to the effect that blasting might have on the stability of such a situation in which the highwall includes potential planes of weakness. This paper applies blast vibration data from large-scale blasting in tar sand to the stability analysis for typical production situations likely to be encountered and indicates safe scaled distances to be employed between dragline and blast.

During the period May 15 ? 17, 2006 four fatalities occurred at #1 Waste Dump, at Teck Cominco?s Sullivan mine located at the city boundary of Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada. The fatalities occurred in the sump of a water monitoring station. The Chief Inspector of Mines and his staff immediately responded to the incident. The team worked collaboratively with the Teck Ltd. Trail Hazmat team, a consultant group from Rescan Ltd. and other Teck operation and technical staff. Sampling in and around the water monitoring station in the days following the fatalities showed that exposure to a depleted oxygen environment was the immediate cause of the fatalities. The sump located at the base of the shed was hydraulically connected to a French (coarse rock) drain, located at the toe of the covered waste dump. This presentation will briefly review the immediate cause of the accident, the investigation, a brief introduction to the work of the Sullivan Technical panel and the British Columbia government?s response to the incident and the recommendations of the Coroner?s inquest.

"Abstract - The Halfmile Lake South Deep zone, Bathurst Mining Camp, New Brunswick, was discovered by Noranda Inc. (Exploration) as a result of a 3-D seismic survey in 1998 and the subsequent drilling of ten diamond-drill cores. The deposit consists of massive, breccia, and stockwork Pb-Zn-Cu sulfide minerals, and is hosted by a volcano-sedimentary sequence belonging to the overturned Ordovician Tetagouche Group. Epiclastic rocks and interbedded fine-grained felsic pyroclastic rocks dominate the stratigraphic footwall. Locally, crystal-rich felsic tuffs and subordinate epiclastic rocks comprise the immediate stratigraphic hanging wall. The entire stratigraphic sequence was intruded by quartz-feldspar porphyritic intrusions, and cut by intermediate and basic dikes. The volcanic and sedimentary rocks can be discriminated geochemically using trace element ratios such as Zr/TiO2 and Nb/TiO2, despite intensive alteration and cleavage development. These ratios indicate that four protolith volcanic compositions exist: rhyolite, dacite, andesite, and basalt. The aphyric and feldspar- and quartz-phyric volcanic rocks are dacitic and rhyolitic in composition; epiclastic rocks have trace element ratios consistent with dacitic compositions. Pearce element ratio diagrams, general element ratio diagrams, and petrographic observations demonstrate that the rhyolitic volcanic rocks exhibit evidence of albite, potassium feldspar, and quartz fractionation, dacitic volcanic rocks exhibit little evidence of any fractionation, and epiclastic sedimentary rocks exhibit evidence of quartz sorting only. Hydrothermal alteration is best represented by the presence of phengitic muscovite and daphnitic chlorite. Minor calcite occurs in the stratigraphic hanging wall, deep in the stratigraphic footwall, and in post-mineralization dikes, and thus is not interpreted to be part of the causative hydrothermal event. Element additions and losses during alteration have been used to determine net alteration reactions, and these have been used to identify alteration parameters that are independent of other forms of alteration and fractionation/sorting, and which can be used to guide exploration. These parameters include: a bulk hydrolysis measure, (2Ca+Na+K-2CO2)/Al; a muscovite alteration measure, K/Al; an albite destruction measure, Na/Al; a chlorite alteration measure, (Fe+Mg-S/2)/Al; a chlorite composition measure, (Fe-S/2)/Mg; a sulfidization measure, S/Ti; and a carbonatization measure, CO2/Ti. With the exception of the carbonatization measure, these alteration parameters define a distinct lateral and vertical zone of intense hydrothermal alteration in the stratigraphic footwall of the deposit, and demonstrate that the epiclastic rocks are predominantly chlorite altered, and the volcanic rocks are predominantly muscovite altered. Within the alteration halo, element additions of Fe and H, and element losses of Na are characteristic. Potassium was added to muscovite-altered rocks, but subsequently removed from chlorite-altered rocks. The results from this study demonstrate that metamorphism and deformation have not significantly obscured hydrothermal alteration signatures."

"Major rock slides in open-pit mines are rare, but they can develop in spite of sophisticated slope engineering design practice. Experience has shown that, except under high seismic load conditions, the serious slope instability condition is almost always accompanied by the gradual development of one or more tension cracks behind the slope crest, allowing for time-displacement monitoring. Continuous surface displacement measurements with attendant prompt analyses are usually adequate for the prediction of slope behaviour.This paper describes efforts that have been made to quantify parameters associated with slide movement, and compares the displacement records of several large-scale open-pit porphyry copper mine slope failures. Two principal failure stages are recognized in the typical slope failure leading to total collapse: (a) REGRESSIVE STAGE, during which the failure will re-stabilize if some disturbance external to the rock and structure is removed; and (b) PROGRESSIVE STAGE. during which the failure will gradually displace at an accelerating rate to the point of total collapse unless active control measures are taken. Over-all displacement records in both failure stages are apparently of simple exponential form. with a definite break occurring at the onset-of-failure point.Certain common empirical relationships are suggested for the large-scale slope failures analyzed in this study. Based on plots of displacement rate vs time prior to collapse, a semi quantitative empirical relationship is presented for failure collapse prediction. The comparison of historical slide displacement records furnishes the operating engineer with practical guidelines to estimate the characteristics of future large-scale slope failures."

"Data from a standardized procedure for measuring methane desorption rates from samples of Western Canadian coals gave a good correlation (0.994) with the percentage of fines (-0.6 mm) found in the corresponding run-of-mine coal. The correlation was independent of the mining method and the top size of the samples. It is suggested that both methane desorption rate and the production of fine coal sizes are functions of the fissuration of the coal being mined.This relationship, in conjunction with established data of degradation by unit process equipment, may be useful in predicting the amount of fines that will be produced from new seams of coal and by planned new washeries. It also could be a valuable guide in modifying existing washery processes to minimize production of fines."

Blast fragmentation is affected by the physical and mechanical characteristics of the rockmass as determined by geology as well as the explosive energy, the partition of this energy, the actual amount of energy transmitted to the rockmass, the blast geometry and the detonation sequence. This paper reviews studies of the influence of geology on blast fragmentation, particularly structure, i.e. the in situ or inherent fragmentation arising from rock discontinuities. Prior structural studies have mainly been limited to comparing equivalent diameters of the in situ blocks with the size distributions of the blasted material. No criteria exist to integrate structure into blast design. This paper reviews on-going studies of the blasted fragment shape and size observed in different rockmasses aimed at analyzing geological control over blasting. Digital photoanalysis was applied {o measure size and shape distributions, to correlate results with block size distributions and shape parameters of the inherent fragmentation. An integrated and comprehensive fragmentation assessment procedure which accounts for geological control is proposed. The potential of this research is to provide a greater understanding of the true contribution of explosives to fragmentation, the effects of fragment shape on system productivity and the reduction of blast-induced damage.

"Froth flotation has been used successfully for about a century in the beneficiation of both coal and mineral particles. With the on-going trend towards lower feed grades, however, there is a need to transform this technology in ways that can deliver ultrafast separations, with strong selectivity, and recovery, covering a broader size range. It should be recognised that the hydrophobic effect, with its highly selective and long-range interactions, will most likely underpin any new technology. We identified the separation of the concentrate from the tailings as the rate determining step of conventional flotation technology. This limitation was then addressed by developing a novel flotation technology, insuring the formation of a concentrate that could be separated more rapidly from the tailings. We introduced a novel binder medium, a highly concentrated water in oil emulsion, to act as the focal point for hydrophobic adhesion, effectively replacing the air bubbles used in conventional flotation. The hydrophobic particles adhere to and become embedded within the binder, forming saturated agglomerates that float upwards. Moreover, by forming these large and resilient agglomerates, the product can be quickly dewatered over a screen and separated almost immediately from the tailings. Remarkably, this new binder permits residence times in the order of a few seconds under batch conditions. This paper examines the performance of the technology as a function of the oil wt% added to the slurry. The paper also examines the performance of the technology as a function of the particle size, showing a decline as the particle size exceeds 0.50 mm.INTRODUCTIONFroth flotation involves the collision and adhesion of hydrophobic particles to rising air bubbles, the carrying of those particles from the bubbly-pulp zone into a froth zone, and subsequent drainage and migration of the pulp to achieve the final concentrate (Wills, 2006). Within a Jameson Cell the feed slurry and air bubbles are brought into intense contact within the active area of the downcomer, achieving rapid kinetics of hydrophobic particle adhesion to the air bubbles (Harbort et al., 1994). However, once the bubble laden product and tailings emerge from the downcomer there is the need for separation of the concentrate from the tailings, an inherently slower process. In other devices such as mechanical cells the initial kinetics of particle adhesion are far slower, relying on the turbulent eddies throughout the cell, while in a column the kinetics rely upon an even slower process of bubble interception with suspended and settling particles (Gorain, 2007). However, in all cases the driving force for segregating the bubbles from the tailings, and the drainage of the froth are inherently the same. We do note, however, recent advances by Galvin and co-workers in achieving so-called Fast Flotation, utilizing a system of inclined channels to dramatically increase the segregation rate of bubbles from the tailings, permitting much higher gas and feed fluxes to be applied, achieving up to a ten-fold throughput advantage (Dickinson et al., 2014). Any further improvement within the existing flotation paradigm would require the introduction of centrifugal forces, but this would also require the formation of much finer bubbles than is typically used given the tendency of relatively large bubbles to reach a limiting slip velocity due to deformations and increased drag. Across all flotation devices we argue the rate determining step remains the segregation of the bubbles from the tailings."

In the reductive smelting of the copper concentrate like a blast furnace operation using coke as fuel and reductant or in processing the copper concentrate which contains coal in the bulk, a sulfur-deficient matte phase often coexists with an iron base alloy in the bottom of the smelting furnace. This alloy is generally called furnace residue or speiss when considerable amount of arsenic or antimony is contained in the alloy and in the extreme case of reducing condition the alloy is saturated with carbon. As a fundamental study to know the behavior of some precious metals such as silver, gold and platinum between the sulfur-deficient matte and the furnace residue or the speiss which are in equilibrium under reducing condition, the phase relations and distribution of precious elements in the Cu-Fe-S-As and Cu-Fe-S-Sb systems saturated with carbon were determined at 1473 K by a quenching method.

Workplace safety, health, climatic conditions and rising oil prices are aspects that are important to the mining industry. The need for cleaner energy for underground mine vehicles is requiring serious consideration. A number of alternate energy systems offer clean solutions to diesel emissions while maintaining the current liberty of vehicle movement. This watershed article provides a broad comparison of cleaner diesel and alternative energies for underground production vehicles. Most alternate energies and clean diesel have already been tested in underground production vehicles. There are no technology gaps that would prevent the development of commercial alternative energy power plants, but in the case of alternate energies, second and third generation versions will be required to fully test for safety and operation viability. Full regulatory development is also required and could be done in parallel to power plant testing. Vehicle operation and maintenance manpower would be the same for alternate energy application as for clean diesel. Capital cost for alternate energy power plants will remain higher until the medium term. Owing to significant ventilation savings possible with alternate technologies, operating costs would be reduced.

"Unanticipated low recovery or extraction of gold from heap leachable are can often be attributed 10 phenomena such as non-uniform percolation (channelling) of solution through heaps, excessively slow percolation rates due to densification of ore during stacking on the pads and parasitic or competing reactions of the cyanide solution with undesirable elements or geochemical ""impurities"" in the ore. The nature and causes of these phenomena are discussed in this paper, and it is suggested that geotechnical and geochemical expertise can contribute significantly to a better understanding of the relationship between laboratory results and actual field performance of the leaching process. Recommendations are made for bench-scale metallurgical testing to be complemented by geochemical and geotechnical laboratory evaluations, to ensure more successful heap leach projects. IntroductionHeap leaching is a simple, low-cost method of recovering metals from low grade ores which has now come into widespread application particularly for gold and silver metals in the United States.The heap leach process involves percolating a lixiviant (leaching agent) solution through broken or crushed ore (Chamberlain and Pojar, 1984). In the case of gold a dilute sodium cyanide solution is used and crushed ore is ""heaped"" on specially prepared impervious pads.The potential for use of heaping leaching methods for northwestern Ontario gold deposits was discussed by Beard (1983), who suggested that the use of this extraction technique in Canada should grow significantly for low grade ores as well as for small high grade deposits which cannot justify the installation of a new mill or the use of remote custom milling facilities. Two other potential situations for lise of a heap leaching extraction method are : as a low capital cost cash generator in the opening phase of a larger new project, and as a low cost output augmenter to complement a milling operation."

Ordered intermetallic PtSb had been synthesized by arc-melted and then sintering treatment. The electro-oxidation of formic acid on PtSb was investigated at room temperature by cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The results are compared to those at a polycrystalline platinum electrode surface. It was found that PtSb intermetallic was catalytically more active than pure platinum according to the onset potential and current density. XRD and XPS technologies had been used to investigate the crystal structure and electron effect. We think formic acid decomposition on PtSb favors the reactive intermediate route and is not very much affected by the CO intermediate as compared to Pt.

"Current practice in advanced materials processing has involved the dispersion of a second-phase, commonly SiC, glass, or other non-metallic fibres/whiskers/particulates to enhance physical characteristics of the matrix. These matrices may be either ceramic or metallic but in either case it is important that the physical and chemical properties of each phase be compatible. The dispersed, finely divided second phase is often both expensive and foreign-produced and may exhibit chemical instability at elevated temperatures. Thus, it would appear that certain naturally-occurring industrial mineral fibres/whiskers/particulates might offer an attractive and low-cost alternative. Suitable candidates, such as wollastonite and sillimanite, are available in Canada and may be milled to produce particles whose shape is appropriate for this application. It is suggested that wollastonite, in particular, may be a useful modifying agent in metal matrix composites utilizing AI, Al-Si, Zn-Al or other light metals and alloys. In addition, the possible use of these minerals in ceramic matrix materials is also addressed, with reference to a preliminary thermodynamic analysis of the systems involved.IntroductionBackgroundA composite material may be thought of as consisting of a matrix component, the properties of which are improved by the addition of a second component or dispersed phase which forms a distinct three-dimensional interface with the matrix. This matrix is commonly either metallic or ceramic, which leads to the two most popular types of composites: metal-matrix composites (MMC); and ceramic-matrix composites (CMC).Such materials are by no means new. Early composites include fiberglass, mixtures of plaster and horsehair in wall plastering, as well as use of natural materials such as bamboo in fishing rods. Some of the newer applications include high strength, low-weight bicycle rims, as well as the more familiar role in aircraft and automobile engine components."

"Since May 1980, New Brunswick has called separate tenders for the right to explore and develop several potash prospects, as well as areas underlain by Alberta oil shale. These tender calls had in common the provision for a basic ad-valorem royalty, combined with sharing of cash flow after exceeding a 15-20% discontinued cash flow rate-of-return threshold. In the case of potash, the bidding variable was a share of cash flow, but for oil shale it was exploration expenditures committed, with the cash flow sharing to be negotiated at the time of application for a production lease. The Millstream potash occurrence, previously discovered by government drilling, received five bids (21.1% highest), the Dorchester ""grassroots area"" with four surmised drill targets apparently received no bids, and in the case of oil shale there were only two bids on the one block previously subjected to the most exploration.It is concluded that New Brunswick will not be successful in awarding the potash or oil shale rights in return for a comparable level of basic royalty and cash flow share as in the case of Millstream, unless it spends money in discovering prospects or sharing the exploration risk with companies. The approach is likely to work for oil shales only if current exploration proves the existence of much high-quality material or a definite trend of real increases in the price of oil is again established. Undoubtedly, it continues to be desirable to assure an on-going stable investment climate through award of potash and oil shale rights under terms which provide for a return that the public and future governments will consider fair. This could mean that some form or risk sharing with companies would be advisable."

"The Strathcona Mine is located in Levack Township on the North Range ofthe Sudbury Basin. The main orebody consists of pyrrhotite-pentlandite-chalcopyrite mineralization associated with an embayment of the footwall of the Sudbury Irruptive. A zone of massive chalcopyrite-cubanite-pentlandite mineralization occurs in a complex vein system in a series of mixed gneisses and breccias in the footwall. Vein widths vary from a few millimetres to 6 metres. In December 1979, this zone was estimated to contain 976,000 metric tonnes, with a grade of 9.31% Cu and 0.46% Ni. The vein system has a general strike of N 68°W at an angle of 60 degrees to the average strike of the footwall contact of the Irruptive. The dip of the vein system is 45 degrees sw. The strike and dip of individual veins in the system coincide with the directions that would result if a compressive stress had acted in a direction normal to the footwall of the Sudbury Irruptive, producing a conjugate set of fractures. The strike of the Irruptive at the Strathcona Mine is parallel to the long axis of the basin.IntroductionThe Strathcona Mine, owned and operated by Falconbridge Nickel Mines Limited, is located in Levack Township on the northwest rim of the Sudbury basin (Fig. I) . It is one of a group of nickel-copper sulphide ore deposits present along an 8.2-km section of the North Range of the Sudbury Irruptive. In the mines of the North Range, subunits of the Irruptive, going from hanging wall to footwall , include felsic norite, dark norite and dark norite breccia. The footwall complex at Strathcona includes the late granite breccia, which hosts a large proportion of the nickel-copper ores, and a compositionally variable group of brecciated and migmatized rocks, herein referred to as the feldspathic gneiss complex. It is within this latter group of rocks that the vein system of the Copper Zone occurs."

This paper pro vides engineering information and various criteria for designing are passes, draw points. feeders, and support systems, together with several illustrative examples.IntroductionOre passes are the primary mean s o f vertical transfer of mined ore to the ore bins and loading pocket from which the o re is hoisted to the surface (Fig. 1) . While the words "" ore"" and ""ore pass"" are used here, such transfer systems ca n be used for any broken rock.The most extensive ore pass systems are found in caving and sublevel stoping mines. Extensive ore pass systems are also found in multilevel mines having steeply dipping orebodies. In more flat-lying orebodies , ore pass systems are sometimes used in conjunction with conveyor systems .Two decades have passed since the principles of the flow of bulk solids were formulated (Jenike, 1961, 1964; Johanson and Colijn, 1964; Kvapil , 1965). However, few published papers are available that discuss the design criteria for ore pass systems. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to provide the information necessary for good o re pass design .Rock Flow in Ore Pass SystemsIf an ore pass system is to fulfill its function, the transfer o f material must occur in an orderly fashion and in such a way that the full size of the opening is employed effectively. Apart from un controlled flow at the drawpoint, or outlet , whose design will be considered later in this paper, two occurrences may impede flow in an ore pass, namely:• Hangups due to interlocking arches.• Hangups due to cohesive arches.Prevention of each of these problems will be discussed in succeeding sections of this paper. Today these same principals apply and the basic Blake-type jaw crusher is one of the leading machines of its class for heavy duty primary crushing service.In 1881 Philetus W. Gates patented a design for a crusher, the forerunner of the modern gyratory crusher which dominated the field from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. In 1910 the largest gyratory crushers built had 48-inch openings. However, about this time the jaw crusher came to life when the Power and Mining Machinery Co. built an even larger sized opening crusher-a giant 84-inch by 60-inch jaw crusher for a trap rock quarry in Pennsylvania. A 24-inch gyratory crusher became the ideal sized secondary machine for this size jaw. From that time on jaw crushers were looked on favourably as primary breakers and lines were brought up to date to parallel the already developed gyratory lines.FunctionMost heavy duty Blake-type jaw crushers work basically the same way. They are ruggedly designed and capable of crushing material in some cases in excess of 80, 000 p.s.i. compressive strength. They are very simple machines with few moving part s and, with the exception of replacement of renewable parts, are relatively maintenance free. It is quite common to have these machines in product ion for 20 to 30 years. The following will de scribe how these machines work. Large-diameter high-inertia flywheels which are connected to the main eccentric shaft, rotate inside a connecting rod type mechanism called a Pitman. It transforms rotating motion into vertical oscillating motion. This vertical motion is in turn transformed into reciprocating mot ion by means of a system of 2 toggles, each connected to the Pitman. The rear toggle is connected to the fixed rear head, and the front toggle is connected to the swing jaw which is hinged at the top of the crusher. With each rotation of the eccentric shaft the swing jaw opens and closes on rock which is fed into the crusher chamber, crushing the rock in a series of bites. These bites, or strokes as the y are called, usually vary between 1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inch at speeds of 120 to 200 strokes per minute. The reduction ratio of feed input to discharge is usually about 8 to I. Output capacities can vary from 100 tons/hour to 1200 tons/hour depending on the size of machine and its discharge opening. Horsepower requirements can vary from 75 hp to 400 hp.The entire crusher chamber is lined with replaceable 14070 manganese steel liner plates. This material is ideally suited for the job since it hardens as it wears during crusher operation. Manganese is also used in the high wear areas at each end of the toggle plates."
