Froth flotation is a selective separation process and rarely used for beneficiation of limestone in the world as compared to other minerals and also mostly known conventional methods of up gradation of ROM including wobbling, selective mining, sorting, preblending etc. Limestone is mainly used in the manufacture of cement, steel and chemical industries. High grade limestone deposits are depleting day by day and the requirement of the industries have to be met by beneficiating the low grade limestone deposits in the world. And because of marginal quality of limestone, it cannot be directly used in cement industry. At ACC Madukkarai cement works, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, full fledged mineral beneficiation process is adopted to enhance the quality of low grade lime stone from 38-42 % CaO to 45-47 % CaO and silica reduced from 19-22 % to 11-13 % by use of oleic acid (commercial grade and vegetable origin) 0.38 kg/ton of limestone and caustic soda 0.05 kg/ton of limestone. On the basis of detailed studying of mineral structure of ore and treatment products it is established that the given ore refers to oxidized Pb-Zn vein-disseminated ores. Technological special features of the basic ore minerals and the reasons causing their obstinateness that is defined by following features are revealed, presence at dominating quantity difficult to float lead minerals: mimetesite (9.67%), green lead ore(0.48%); non float: bindheimite (2.16%) and plumbojarosite (0.36%) and high assay of oxides and hydrous ferric oxides; also thin, emulsive and submicroscopic segregations of the defined minerals in swamp ore. As a result of researches the scheme of gravitational-flotation treatment was conducted in semi-industrial scale. It allows to receive two concentrates from ore: a lead gravitational concentrate of mark ??-4 with the assay of 55.5 % of Pb and 0.77 % of Zn; and a Pb concentrate of mark ??-7 with assay of Pb of 40.97 % and Zn of 1.39 %. The total assay of Pb in concentrates makes 81 %. The efficiency offered by gravitational-flotation schemes is defined by possibility for recovery of big impregnated lead minerals under gravitation. The use of this method of gravitation has allowed to recover such mineral as beudantide and to exclude irrevocable losses of lead in tails which are connected with this mineral. Scientific value of the presented researches is connected with the fact the problem of extraction of the oxidized minerals of Bb and Zn is rather difficult and insufficiently studied. This investigation was undertaken to assess the possibility of ash and sulfur removal by microbial action of high sulfur-content coal. Thiobacillus ferrooxidans and Thiobacillus thiooxidans have been used for biodesulfurization of coal. Feed samples were provided from Tabas coal mine located in Yazd province, Iran. The sample contained 28.80% ash and 2.30% sulfur. Flotation tests were implemented to optimize the effective parameters in these cells which were constant during bio-flotation tests. According to the results, obtained from various tests using Taguchi orthogonal array design (L27), the values of optimized parameters were pH at 7, 1000 g/t gas oil as a collector, 10% solid content, 15 min conditioning time, 100 g/t MIBC as a frother and 800 rev/min rotor speed. Bio-flotation tests are carried out by means of laboratory double discharge cell and mesophilic bacteria as depressant reagent using above mentioned optimized parameters. The bio-flotation experiments were conducted based on a Taguchi orthogonal array design (L9) with four variables (bacteria type, bacteria count, rotor speed of mixer and bio-conditioning time). The collected data was analyzed by using DX7.0, Minitab14.0 and WinRobust1.02 softwares for evaluation the effect of each parameter on the optimization criteria. Considering the highest combustible recovery and the lowest ash and sulfur content, the value of optimized bacteria type, bacteria count, rotor speed of mixer and bio-conditioning time were Thiobacillus ferrooxidans, 5×107 cells/g(coal), 100 rev/min and 20 min respectively. Under this condition, ash and sulfur content and combustible recovery were predicted 12.39%, 2.08% and 82.03% respectively.

On the territory Sakha (Yakutia) are located largest in Russian Federation reserves of antimony ores, Sarylakhsk and Sentochansk deposits, amaunt 10% of world stocks of antimony. A processing gold antimony ores Sarylakhsk deposit is carried out on gravitation-flotation circuit to receive gold gravitation concentrate and gold-antimony flotation concentrate with the contents of antimony over 60%. The gold-bearing concentrate is treated on place hydrometallurgicaly to a high-standard product, accepted by gold bank cash department. At the ore dressing plant reached the highest recovery in world in a concentrate of antimony 90%~91.6%, and gold 85.7%~86.0% as a result of scientific research works. Studied the mechanism of interaction cations of metals Pb2+, Cu2+, Cd2+, Hg2+, Ag+ with a surface antimonite presented on the basis of modern physical-chemical methods: nuclear quadrupol resonance, x-ray electron spectroscopy, electron spin resonance. The industrial tests of sodium dimethyldithiocarbate were carried out which confirmed high recovery of Sb and As. The leaching Sb2S3 by bacteria Desulfovibro desulfuricans and transformation antimonite in antimony trioxide by Tiobacillus Ferrooxidans improved following cyanidation . The extraction of antimony in a solution 96.0%~98.0% under optimal conditions. The common total extraction in the appropriate commodity products for gold reached 98%, for Sb 96.5%. At a combination of bioprocessing and cyanidation 85.5% of extraction Au was achieved. The new solvents for antimonite were found. Now by the Close Joint-Stock Co ?Sarylach-Antimony? industrial plant is constructed for processing Au-Sb concentrates to receive antimony trioxide and gold from various antimony deposits of Sakha (Yakutia).

The ore comprise of chalcopyrite, valleriite, pyrite, pyrrhotite and so on. Serpentine and talc are chief gangues. Copper phase of the tail shows that mostly valleriite be losed in tail, 70% mineral of copper is valleriite in tail, so severity reduce the recovery of copper. The traditional flow-sheet in acidity mine pulp to flotat the valleriite, but copper-sulphur separated in high alkaline pulp, so the valleriite be losed else. Explores the characters of the valleriite?s surface, studys on the flow-sheet of flotat valleriite and copper-sulphur separated. In neutral mine pulp, adopt of cationic collector to flotat valleriite, adopt of hyposulphite to depressant pyrite in low alkaline pulp can advance the recovery of copper to 5.06%.

"The small recovery of Ag, often in the order of 50%, by traditional flotation and leaching process strategies is closely related to the complicated and heterogeneous nature of Ag-bearing minerals with Ag typically being associated with numerous minerals within any given ore-body. Moreover, grain sizes may be extremely fine with micron-scale common. In order to design cost-effective Ag-bearing mineral flotation and leach recovery strategies it is firstly necessary to characterise the speciation of Ag and its correlation with other elements, e.g., Cu, As and Sb, within the ore matrix and process streams. The traditional QEM-SCAN analytical approach can prove problematic for some mineralogies due to difficulties in recognising degrees of crystallinity, polymorphs, complex solid solution series, high value trace element mineralogy, very fine grained materials; and the requirement for a comprehensive data base. Moreover, there is difficulty ‘seeing’ either surface films or surface contaminants which can both lead to poor flotation performance. There is therefore clearly a need to develop confirmatory and complementary approaches when these uncertainties arise. Synchrotron X-ray microprobe analysis provides a powerful tool for the mineralogical characterisation of finely segregated heterogeneous Ag-containing materials. These measurements enable comprehensive characterisation of the Ag-bearing components using synchrotron microprobe X-ray fluorescence mapping (µ-XFM), X-ray diffraction (µ-XRD) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (µ-XAS). Further analytical strength is provided by principal component analysis of laboratory ToF-SIMS data which enables the statistical identification of correlated surface species enabling examination of surface chemical characteristics responsible for mis-reporting of Ag containing components within flotation streams. We describe the application of these techniques to a selected Ag-containing feed and tail and demonstrate how these compliment and extend traditional analytical methodologies."

Biosorption of heavy metals can be an effective process for the removal of heavy metals ions from aqueous solutions. In this study, the adsorption properties of Rhodococcus opacus biomass for Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions was investigated. The effects of initial pH, initial metal concentration and biomass concentration on biosorption efficiency were studied in a batch system. Results showed that the initial pH would play an important role in the Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions removal by R. opacus and affected the zeta potential of R. opacus. The equilibrium adsorption was reached with 60 min. The Langmuir and Freundlich models were used for describing of adsorption isotherm data. The maxi-mum adsorption capacities of biomass were determined as 94.3mgg-1 and 32.2 mgg-1 for the Pb(II) and Cu(II) ions, respectively. The experimental data fitted to pseudo second order kinetic model. Adsorption capacity of Pb(II) ions was found to be reduced by the presence of the other competing metal ions in the system. The FT-IR results of R. opacus biomass showed that biomass has different functional groups and these groups are able to react with metal ions in aqueous solution.

In proved reserves of vanadium-containing titanomagnetite in Panxi, China, iron grades of ores were 50% ~ 15%. China?s metallurgical industry departments defined the iron ores containing 50% ~ 20% TFe as exploitable resources and the extreme lean iron ores containing 20% ~ 15% TFe as temporary unexploitable resources, the extreme lean ores were as waste rejected into waste dump in mining process. This paper researched process mineralogy of the extreme lean ores, adopted mineral processing technology responded to the properties of the ores to treat the ores and obtained quality vanadium-iron concentrate, titanium concentrate and sulfur concentrate, therefore successfully utilized the extreme lean ores, changed the ores from waste resources to exploitable resources.

"Copper-bearing gold ores have proved difficult to treat in conventional cyanide leaching process owing to prohibitively high consumption of cyanide by readily soluble copper minerals interfering with gold extraction. Cyanide leaching of gold from copper-rich ores can be improved by intensive cyanidation or application of physical and chemical pre-treatment methods (e.g., ultra-fine grinding, roasting and leaching). In this study, nitric acid leaching of a copper-bearing pyritic concentrate (0.3% Cu, 62 g/t Au and 110 g/t Ag) as pre-treatment prior to cyanidation was investigated. The mineralogical analysis of the concentrate has revealed that it is composed of mainly quartz (25%), pyrite (32.7%), sphalerite (5.37 %), galena (2.12 wt %) and anglesite (1.13 %). Arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, covellite and bournonite were also detected as minor phases present. Previous studies carried out by the authors showed that direct cyanidation (1.5 g/L NaCN) of the as-received concentrate (d80: 80 µm) produced low gold (45% Au) and silver (46% Ag) extractions. Nitric acid pretreatment of the as-received concentrate was performed for 5 hours at 1-5 M HNO3 and 80oC. In these tests, 65% Cu/Pb and 94% Zn were leached. The nitric acid pre-treatment improved the extraction of gold and silver in subsequent cyanide leaching (1.5 g/L NaCN) to 82% Au and 87.5% Ag with a concomitant decrease (up to 54%) in cyanide consumption. It can be inferred from these findings that the removal of copper from the concentrate and the liberation of the occluded gold by nitric acid leaching as pretreatments can be appropriately employed for the treatment of the copper-bearing pyritic concentrate with high gold/silver content. INTRODUCTION Refractory ores are often characterized by their low amenability to cyanide leaching resulting low (often <80%) Au/Ag extractions (Bhappu, 1990; Celep et al., 2009; Marsden and House, 2006). One of the most common causes of refractoriness is the physical or chemical encapsulation of submicroscopic or fine-grained gold in sulphide minerals such as arsenopyrite and pyrite (La Brooy et al., 1994; Vaughan, 2004). To render refractory gold ores/concentrates amenable to cyanide leaching, the decomposition of sulphide minerals within a pre-treatment process to expose the encapsulated gold grains to the action of cyanide is required. In this regard, roasting, pressure oxidation and biooxidation are commercially used processes for pretreatment of arsenopyrite/pyrite gold ores/concentrates ahead of cyanide leaching (La Brooy et al., 1994). Presence of cyanide-soluble copper minerals in the ore leads to low gold recoveries and high cyanide consumptions under conventional cyanide leaching conditions. High cyanide concentrations (CN:Cu>4) should be employed to achieve high gold recoveries from copper-rich gold ores/concentrates. This may require recovery of cyanide from effluents. In this regard, SART Process (sulphidisation-acidification-recycling-thickening) employed industrially for recovery of cyanide and copper as a by-product. This process simply relies on the addition of sulphide (as Na2S, NaSH or H2S) to the leach solution prior to the acidification to pH 4-5. This results in the precipitation of copper as Cu2S and occurrence of free cyanide which is recycled to the leaching circuit after S/L separation (Dai et al., 2012)."

A simulation code called SIMJIG and the user interfaces have been developed using discrete element method (DEM) and the .NET platform respectively for the jigging process. DEM platform is used for tracking of particles in the jigging operation. DEM uses the net force balance on the particles to track the trajectory of the particle. Simulation results are compared with experimental results obtained by jigging of low grade iron ore lumps. Two different iron ore samples one from Chatishgarh and one from Odisha were used for the experimental studies. The Alljig? stratification test rig meant for batch laboratory experimental studies has been used in the present work. The behavior of different sizes of material on jigging has been examined. Later, the particle size behavior during jigging at different layers of the jig bed has been studied. Further stratification profile across the jig bed has also been studied. It was observed that simulation results are matching quite nicely with the experimental results. The SIMJIG simulator developed in the present study could be used for predicting the performance of the jigging operation effectively. "The theoretical technique of computational modeling and the experimental determination of the enthalpy of adsorption of a ligand molecule onto a mineral surface deliver the same output parameters and, therefore, complement each other in investigating the affinity of different ligand types for mineral surfaces.This study ran parallel experimental tests and computational calculations to determine the enthalpy of adsorption of a series of increasing chain length xanthates onto a pyrite surface. The outcomes showed that, while the absolute energy values were different, the trends were similar. Both computational and experimental approaches showed that the extent of the interaction of the xanthate molecule increases with increasing carbon chain length. The computational values were larger than the experimental values, which could be explained, in part, by the addition of water to the computational system, which resulted in a decrease in the heat of adsorption on the (100) surface, compared to the adsorption of the collector in a vacuum. The computational method showed that, in the case of the pyrite (100) surface, the most exothermic reaction was obtained when the two xanthate sulfur atoms bridged two pyrite 5-coordinated iron atoms. The (111) surface was found to be more reactive and different adsorption mechanisms were predicted for each of the C2, C3, C4 and C5 chain length xanthates.The experimentally determined exothermic increase in heat of adsorption for the addition of each CH2 group was found to be -8.17 kJ/mol. The contribution of the thiol head group was -34.9 kJ/mol. Previous studies on self-assembled monolayers have shown that these values are compatible with lateral interactions between CH2 groups and the exclusion of water. This study provides a rigorous experimental and computational approach which is intended to afford confidence in modelled data for the screening of new ligands for flotation processes.INTRODUCTIONComputational modelling is a fast and cost-effective method of screening collector molecules for the efficacy of their adsorption onto mineral surfaces. However, it is desirable to measure the computational outputs against experimental outputs to check for congruency. Computational modelling and experimental microcalorimetry both deliver the same output parameter: the energy of adsorption of the molecule onto the solid surface. These techniques are therefore ideally suited to complement one another in investigating the affinity of the interaction between collector molecules and mineral surfaces."

The beneficiation study of low quality pyrophyllite is conducted to enhance the value of it by selective grinding. In mining stage, the main gangue mineral is quartz, and the content of quartz in ore has an adverse effect on the quality of pyrophyllite. Using the huge difference in hardness between quartz and pyrophyllite, the selective grinding is accomplished using stirred ball mill. As a result, a finer pyrophyllite particle can be easily separated from coarser quartz particle by simple size classification, and the content of Al2O3 of fine particle smaller than 45um increased largely. It means that the pyrophyllite particle is ground selectively compared to the quartz particle, and the quality of pyrophyllite is enhanced.

In recent years, coal beneficiation has gotten considerable attention. Selective oil agglomeration has been accepted as the best method to produce clean coal with a high removal of pyrite sulphur. In this study, spherical oil agglomeration of Datong coal fines was carried out using diesel oil as a bridging liquid. The oil agglomeration has a surface properties based on coal cleaning technique. The effects of fundamental parameters have been investigated including the concentration of bridging liquid, the size of coal particle, the solid content of slurry, the agitation time and rate, pH, surfactants on the agglomeration performance and various salts on the ash rejection and removal of pyrite of the agglomerated products. The optimum conditions of particle size, diesel concentration, solid content, agitation speed and time, pH and the dosage of active agent have been determined as less than 8µm, 20wt%, 1200r/min and 10 minutes, 7.5g/t and 100g/t, respectively. Under these conditions the ash content in the products can be achieved 1.5% below, the ash rejection was up to 92%. It has been observed that ionic strength of the aqueous medium affects the agglomeration performance. The precombustion coal cleaning process based on improved selective agglomeration results in high ash and pyrite sulphur removals. Over 80% removal of pyrite sulphur can be achieved from run-of-mine coals by offering a more cost-effective sulphur reduction solution rather than any other SO2 removal technology. In addition, the removal of pyrite sulphur is very necessary for not only the prevention of environmental pollution but also economical reasons.

"Copper anode slime is a precious secondary source for the recovery of silver. However, current recovery process are constrained by either sever pollution or high cost. To cover the drawbacks of current process, this research employed a novel strategy by using the manganese dioxide as the oxidant in acid solution, which avoided the generation of sulfur dioxide while high silver extraction rate was achieved. The effects of manganese dioxide, sulfur acid concentration, stirring speed, temperature and leaching time on silver extraction rate were investigated. The silver recovery reached to 91.68% under the conditions of 1.2 g manganese, 2.0 mol/L H2SO4, 300 rpm, 80 °C and 6 h. INTRODUCTION Copper anode slime is generated from the electrolysis refining of copper and is extremely precious for its containing noble metal such as silver (Chatterjee, 1996; Amer, 2003; Yldrm et al., 2014; Syed, 2016; Wang et al., 2017). Therefore it is of great significance to extract silver from anode slime for the full utilization of resource. Pyrometallurgy is the most mature process for the extraction of silver because of its stability and adaptability (Hait et al., 2009; Zhao et al., 2010; Gao et al., 2017). However, it also suffers the drawbacks of high operating cost, low extraction rate of silver and severe pollution of smoke dust (usually containing lead and arsenic) (Ludvigsson and Larsson, 2003). To cover the drawbacks of pyrometallurgy process, more and more attentions are giving to the semi-hydrometallurgy process which usually includes a pretreatment process of sulphatising roast or low temperature oxidizing roasting (Tishchenko, 1964). After pretreatment, the refractory silver bearing phases (silver selenide, silver sulfide and silver) are converted into readily leached forms which are often extracted by ammonia, sodium sulfite in alkaline solution (Valiuniene et al., 2010; Wojciech, and Kitka, 2017). Despite its relatively high extraction rate and low investment, it still has the disadvantages of releasing harmful gases since the sulfur dioxide are generally generated in the pretreatment process. In addition, the use of ammonia can easily lead to a leaking into the atmosphere once not carefully dealt with (Aylmore and Muir, 2001). As for silver recovery by sulfite leaching, the consumption of sodium sulfite is rather high which often results in a pipe blocked (Yang et al., 2006)."

"This paper presents a systematic approach to metallurgy diagnostics using an integrated gold deportment methodology developed for complex refractory gold and copper-gold ore bodies. Quantification of gold deportment for these ore bodies is a challenging task due to reasons such as lower grades, high variability of visible and invisible gold content in different sulphides and iron oxide phases, significant presence of disseminated and composite carbonaceous matters along with associations of various copper sulphide phases. Some case studies are presented in this paper to demonstrate the value of a high confidence gold deportment methodology in developing insights for problem diagnostics and to identify opportunities for metallurgical improvements. A holistic approach involving different fields of expertise is critical for successful development and delivery of solutions for complex ore bodies.INTRODUCTION Studies were initiated on various ore complex ore and also on samples representing various process streams. These complex copper-gold single refractory, double and triple refractory gold ores are mainly composed of silicates and/or carbonates with moderate amounts of clay and mica, along with minor amounts of sulphides and organic carbonaceous matter. Variable proportions of visible gold and “invisible gold” (sub-microscopic gold) were noted in different mineral phases for various ore types and process stream samples. Invisible gold commonly occurs as solid solution or as colloidal-sized particles in different sulphides (pyrite, arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and galena) and other phases (including hematite, magnetite and goethite) for different refractory ores. The dominance of invisible gold and presence of highly preg-robbing along with finely disseminated carbonaceous matters adversely affects gold recovery in flotation and leach circuits for most of these double and triple refractory ores. This paper discusses applications of an integrated gold deportment technique developed for different types of gold and copper-gold ores, namely, complex copper-gold, double and triple refractory gold ores (Chattopadhyay and Gorain, 2014; Chattopadhyay et. al., 2016). Various process streams from flotation and gold leaching circuits were investigated. Different concentrates and tailings samples from flotation circuits whereas feed and discharges from pressure oxidation (POX) and carbon-in-leach (CIL) residues were used from gold processing circuits."

The impact of several electrolytes present in seawater on the rheological properties of flocculated mineral suspensions was assessed using the creep test. Flocculated suspensions were obtained by adding polymer flocculant to a cylinder of mineral suspension and aggregating the suspension using the plunger method. The suspension was allowed to sediment and the supernatant liquid decanted prior to tests for the viscoelastic properties of the resulting sediment. The solid used was alumina AKP-30 both, below and above the isoelectric point. The polymer used was AN934SH, an anionic flocculant with high molecular weight. Salts analyzed were MgCl2, CaCl2 and NaCl, known as water structure makers, and KI and KCl, known as water structure breakers. A high salt concentration of 0.5 M was used to approach the ionic strength of seawater. For both pH’s studied, the sediments demonstrated a viscoelastic non-linear behavior observed as a non-linear relationship between yield strain and applied stress. In the absence of flocculant, it was observed that the viscosity and yield stress of a suspension increase in the presence of structure maker salts for the case of both silica suspensions and alumina suspensions. These results were explained using hypernetted chain statistical mechanics models describing the interaction of ions with solvated surfaces. In contrast, with the presence of flocculant, the shear yield strain of alumina suspensions increases with the breaker character of the salts, however, this result has been explained by an extension of the results from the models. The work has significant implications for the flocculation of mineral suspensions in the presence of seawater.

The Aitik copper mine is located in the north of Sweden and the concentrator at the mine started its operation in 1968 with a capacity of 2 Mton ore per year. Since then the operation has expanded several times, and today the capacity is 18 Mton ore per year. A new expansion plan was investigated in 2005, however the building of a new concentrator was found to be a better solution, giving a lower cost, a longer lifetime and more concentrates to the smelter at the coast. Several choices have been evaluated regarding the location of the concentrator?s crushing, grinding, dewatering, process control and water systems. The energy cost comparison has been an important factor when evaluating the various choices. The single most important decision has been in choosing the grinding system. Once again the fully autogenous grinding system, favoured by Boliden, has proven to be the best solution. The location of the mill, high and near the tailing pond, gives lower transportation costs for the ore and tailings, compared to other locations. A new water system will lower the pumping cost, give better control of water circulation to the plant and create fewer problems with permafrost in the tailings disposal area. Molybdenum recovery will be installed in the new plant using a separate circuit. A gold leaching plant was also investigated. Gold leaching is planned for the pyrite concentrate from the chalcopyrite/pyrite separation and the concentrate from the desulphurisation circuit that will be installed on the bulk flotation tailings.

If lead-zinc ores have high oxidation rate, separation of lead and zinc is very difficult. This paper studied the technology of preferential flotation by the coarse grinding and re-grinding. The lead concentrate grade is 51.40% and the lead recovery is 62.83% when feed grades Pb 1.74% and Zn 6.46% with oxidation rate being 13.75%. At same time, the zinc concentrate grade is 50.07% and its recovery is 90.01%.

"There are increasingly stricter environmental regulations imposed for use of cyanide leaching for the extraction of gold from ores. Alternative lixiviants to cyanide, preferably with low toxicity, have been extensively studied. Thiosulphate has emerged as one of the most suitable alternative leaching agent in place of cyanide due to its low toxicity and technical attributes e.g. fast leaching kinetics, high gold extractions from carbonaceous ores in particular. High solubility of most copper minerals in cyanide solutions results in low gold extractions due to excessively high consumption of cyanide. In contrast, low reactivity of copper minerals in thiosulphate solutions makes thiosulphate leaching potentially suitable alternative for treatment Cu-bearing gold ores. The extraction of gold/silver from a copper-bearing pyritic gold concentrate (62 g/t Au, 110 g/t Ag and 0.3% Cu) in thiosulphate solutions was investigated in this study. The concentrate is composed of predominantly quartz (25%) and pyrite (32.7%) as well as sphalerite (5.37%), galena (2.12%) and anglesite (1.13%). Other minor minerals are arsenopyrite, chalcopyrite, covellite and bournonite. Previous studies by the authors indicated that the concentrate did not respond well to cyanide leaching (i.e. 45-46% Au/Ag at 1 g/L NaCN). The effects of concentration of ammonia (0.2-1.5 M NH3), thiosulphate (0.1-0.75 M S2O3) and copper (0-20 mM CuSO4) on the extraction of gold and silver over 8 h. was investigated. Increasing the concentration of thiosulphate and ammonia substantially improved the rate and extent of gold leaching while high copper levels produced an adverse effect particularly at low concentration of thiosulphate (i.e. 0.1 M). Complete extraction of gold was achieved under suitable conditions. In contrast to gold, silver extractions remained consistently at low levels (i.e. 28%). These findings demonstrated that thiosulphate leaching could be used to achieve acceptable levels of gold extraction from the copper-bearing pyritic gold concentrate."

This paper aims to study the influence and action mechanism of collector Y-89 on the flotation of auriferous pyrite. The measurement to identify adsorption quantity, IR and XPS spectrum analysis and flotation experiment made on the pure mineral were conducted. The research results show that when the dosage of MIBC is 20 mg/L, and pH of 8, the dosage of Y-89 over 60 mg/L, the pyrite recovery rate is greater than 80%.And when the dosage of Y-89is 60 mg/L, dosage of MIBC 20 mg/L, the pH in a wider range (pH=4~9), the recovery is greater than 75%. When the pH is above 10, the pyrite is depressed and its recovery rate is found to be dramatically dropping. Adsorption quantity measurement also shows that the strong alkaline conditions inhibit the adsorption of Y-89 on the surface of auriferous pyrite. IR measurement indicates that chemisorption of Y-89 occurs on the surface of auriferous pyrite. XPS spectrum analysis indicates that without adding Y-89, oxidation reaction occurs on the surface of pyrite. But when Y-89 is added, the chemical environment of Fe on the surface of pyrite has changed. Such findings indicate that with Y-89, chemisorption occurs on the surface of auriferous pyrite.
