During the past decade, since the appearance of Popoff's (1966) review of grade tonnage calculations, it has become evident that defining a new method which could be followed step by step by a technician and which would improve reserve estimation was not a simple thing to do. Some concepts have emerged though, and most definitions of ore reserve now require a statement of reliability (USGS, 1975; and Zwarten-dyke, 1976). Exactly how the reliability should be computed is not a straightforward process. It also became apparent that not only was reliability a requirement but that additional questions such as how to predict mining re- serves from geological reserves were to be asked. In fact what became obvious is that specific models have to be designed for each type of mine and for each type of question which is asked. Most methods can be encased within a unique general geostatistical, model, but it takes considerable custom tailoring, and there are still questions that are left unanswered. In this chapter, before giving techniques, we intend to first review what should be required from a grade tonnage calculation done at the exploration stage. If the final objective is still to specify a tonnage and grade, with eventually a reliability, many qualifications have to be made before quoting, and of course, calculating these two numbers. Then the currently avail- able methods will be reviewed and future trends will be shown; finally a few case studies will be given and recommendations about the choice of a model will be made.

INTRODUCTION Continuous mining machines are used in regular flat ore beds having uniform thickness. Since coal is the most common type of material occurring in such beds, most continuous miners are used for the extraction of coal from underground mines. The first continuous mining machine for under¬ground coal mining was introduced in 1948. In one machine, the continuous miner combines the functions performed by a conventional face drill, a cutting ma¬chine, and a loading machine. It breaks or digs the material out of the surrounding solid and transfers the material back through the machine chassis by means of a chain conveyor. The conveyor carries the material to a haulage system, usually a rubber-tired vehicle known as a shuttle car. Generally, continuous miners are used in seam heights from 890 to 3660 mm (35 to 144 in.). For seam heights of 1070 mm (42 in.) or less, the haulage system may be a multiple-bridge conveyor or battery-powered tractors that haul low-bed trailers. Proj¬ects are being undertaken by private industry and through government contracts to develop a continuous haulage system for all seam heights. As of 1976, the majority of continuous miners were of two types. The first type is the drum miner, which mounts the cutting elements on a series of drums across the cutting head of the machine, sometimes using a cutting chain to cut clearance for the gear drive. In the drum-type machines, the cutting head rotates parallel to the material face. The second type is the auger miner, which utilizes cutting elements mounted on two auger-type cutting heads. One head is located on each side of the machine, with the heads mounted per¬pendicular to the material face. Chain-head ripper-type miners/miners having rotary cutting elements with oscillating motion and twin-head boring-type miners have all been popular within the last 15 years. Although these are considered obsolete, some machines are still being supplied for specialized applications. GENERAL DESCRIPTION This chapter describes only continuous mining ma¬chines available as manufacturers' production models as of September 1976. Figs. 1 through 11 illustrate some typical machines currently in use. Cutting Elements The cutting elements are the interface between the machine and the material being mined. In describing the cutting elements, consideration must be given to the differences between the drum- and auger-type machines, the bit-tip speeds, and the bit types. Drum-Type Continuous Mining Machines: Three of the four principal manufacturers of drum-type miners use multi-motor designs that provide separate a-c motors for driving the cutting elements. Gear trains are used to reduce the speeds of the motors to the rotational speeds of the cutting elements. One of the three suppliers drives the cutting elements of its low-seam models with a heavy-duty drive chain that is equipped with cutting bits; all other functions of this machine have separate motor drives that are either electrical or hydraulic. The fourth principal manufacturer generally provides two a-c electric motors, utilizing gear reducers, drive shafts, and hydraulically operated engaging clutches to power all of the operating functions, including the cut¬ting elements. Some drum-type miners use trim chains, equipped with cutting bits, to cut clearance for the gear drives. These trim chains vary from two 305-mm (12-in.) chains to one 760-mm (30-in.) chain per machine, de¬pending upon the manufacturer's design concept. In all machines other than the low-seam models that use chains to drive the heads, the trim chains are driven by sprockets on the drive shaft of the final cutterhead drum; therefore, the trim chains are not used for power trans¬mission to the cutting elements. In addition to cutting clearance for the gear drives, the trim chains provide uniform bit spacing all the way across the head and assist in moving the cut material to an area where it is either loaded directly into the miner's conveyor or is easier to load into the conveyor. On a drum-type mining machine, the cutting ele¬ments all rotate from the top to the bottom. Therefore, the recommended procedure is to raise the cutterhead to the maximum seam height, sump the entire machine forward to maximum depth by means of a crawler drive, and then shear downward until the cutter elements reach the floor level. The maximum sump depth varies ac¬cording to the drum diameter, the type of material, the floor conditions, and the operator's abilities. It normally varies an average of 460 to 760 mm (18 to 30 in.). Cutter drums are supplied with two types of cutting bit holders. Weld-on holders are attached permanently. Pin-on holders are replaceable at the face. Cutter-drum diameters over the bit tips vary from 660 to 965 mm (26 to 38 in.), depending upon the chassis height of the machine and the range of cutting heights. INTRODUCTION The Columbia River Basalt beneath the Hanford Site is one of several rock types being considered by the U.S. Department of Energy for the first commercial high-level nuclear waste repository. The Basalt Waste Isolation Project (BWIP) has been carrying out a comprehensive investigation to assess the feasibility of constructing a repository in basalt and to develop technology required for repository engineering and site characterization. Development of a nuclear waste repository requires a number of design considerations not usually necessary in the planning of conventional underground structures. Principal among these is the thermally induced stress field resulting from waste emplacement. This thermal stress, super- imposed on the preexisting in situ- and excavation- induced stress fields, needs to be evaluated in the design process due to the sensitivity of waste emplacement density to this factor. The nature of this thermally induced stress field is dependent on several factors, including the temperature distribution around the repository openings, the thermal properties of the rock mass, and the deformability of the rock mass. Re1iable performance of the repository structure is largely determined by the ability to under- stand the above rock mass characteristics and predict the underground opening response to waste emplacement based on this understanding. To gain an understanding of this rock mass behavior in a repository condition, the BWIP has conducted a large-scale heated block test in basalt at the Near-Surf ace Test Facility (NSTF) on the Hanford Site. This paper presents the results from the elevated temperature phase of the block test in which the thermal, mechanical, and thermo- mechanical response of the closely jointed basalt rock mass was evaluated as a function of stress and loading orientation at varying temperatures up to 200 oC. SITE GEOLOGY The NSTF test areas, including the block test site, are located in the entablature zone of the Pomona basalt f low. The Pomona flow entablature is structurally typical of most flows in the Columbia River Basalt Group in that it is characterized by long, undulating, polygonal columns up to 2.4 m in length. Columns vary from 15 to 30 cm in diameter, averaging about 20 cm. Over their length, columns can vary in dip by 150 to 200. The column structures are dissected by subhorizontal cross joints that are generally discontinuous and seldom cross columnar joint boundaries. Spacing of the cross joints also averages about 20 cm. A representative joint pattern taken from mapping of the tunnel wall near the block test site is shown in figure 1. Application of the Rock Mass Rating System (Bieniawski, l979) to the block test site yielded an overall value of 62. The corresponding value from application of the Q-system (Barton et al., 1974) is 8.7 (Cramer and Kim,1985). The NSTF is approximately 50 m below the surf ace. However, this depth is sti1l above the water table and conditions are generally dry. Interstitial water exists as the result of percolation of meteoric water from the surface.

This paper discusses grade control of ore mined at Tennessee Copper Company. Mineral zoning and the influence of mineral zoning on production grade are discussed and illustrated. In order to make this most understandable we will first briefly examine the flow sheet at Tennessee Copper to indicate the path followed by the raw material toward its various products. Then we will discuss some of the characteristics of the ore, specifically the distribution or zoning of the minerals in the ore which cause some of the grade control problems. Finally we Will discuss same of the steps that are taken to combat these problems. The flow sheet is illustrated as plate 1. The mined ore is allied to obtain 3 usable products: Copper concentrate, iron concentrate and zinc concentrate. Copper is found in the mineral chalcopyrite, CuFeS2. The Copper concentrate from the mill contains about 20% copper. These concentrates are smelter in reverberatory furnace and Pierce-Smith converter to blister copper containing 99.2% copper. Some metal is cast into 360 lb. pigs and shipped to the refinery. Some is made into shot copper and used locally to make copper sulfate. Copper sulfate is marketed from Copperhill principally in fungicides.

On 30 April 2004, a large scale slope failure incident occurred at the external waste dump facility of the South Field Mine, in the Western Macedonia Lignite Center, Greece. This landslide involved the mobilization of waste overburden material (that was continuously deposited for the last 20 years) in the order of 40 Mm3, while the material that moved outside the boundaries of the waste dump was in the order of 3 Mm3. The factors that led to failure as well as the procedures and measures taken in order to stabilize the failure and resume normal operations at the South Field Mine are presented and discussed. Emphasis is given to the impact on mine operations and the cost related to resuming of normal production operation as well as to implementing important modifications and improvements of the materials handling system.

At Fermilab, a 4000-ft long underground complex has recently been constructed for a high-energy physics experiment. The complex is sited up to 350 ft, below grade principally in bedrock. The rock excavations were mined by TBM and drill and blast methods and supported by a combination of rock bolts, dowels and shotcrete. Water control was achieved using a combination of pre- and post-excavation grouting, drainage systems, drip shielding and air desiccation measures.

The NMBGMR is slowly converting historical data into a relational database using Microsoft Access 97. The purpose of this database is to provide data on districts, mines, and mills in New Mexico to government agencies, public organizations, industry, and citizens to make informed decisions about resource development, resource management, water supplies, environmental impacts, hazard assessment, and waste disposal. Once the data are entered into the database with locations, the data can easily be converted to GIS format for displaying as different map layers.

This paper describes recent ground control challenges encountered at the longwall recovery areas of one of Bailey Mine?s two longwall faces and the proactive measures taken by CONSOL management and engineering to mitigate them. The challenges derived primarily from the following causes: (1) irregular roof coal and draw slate thickness, (2) presence of thick sandstone at the recovery area and extremely weak rocks below the sandstone, (3) close proximity to a regional anticline, (4) low shield set pressure and tip load, and (5) ineffective primary roof support that led to progressive failure of the headgate roof. The presence of the anticline contributed to extensive fracturing of the sandstone. Excessive pot-out in advance of the shields frequently occurred near mid-face due to the presence of thick draw slate and irregular roof coal near the recovery area. This, in turn, resulted in face heights that exceeded the maximum reach of the shields. Subsequently, during longwall meshing, when the advance rate slowed considerably, fractured sandstone would often break loose, causing the shields to yield, thereby reducing the height and inhibiting shearer movement. To improve the headgate and face conditions within the longwall recovery area, several actions were taken, including: (1) assessing site-specific roof geology by conducting in-mine roof coring around the recovery areas and by mapping immediate draw slate and roof coal thicknesses within surrounding entries, (2) increasing pump pressure and thus shield set pressures (3) diligently monitoring shield set pressures and longwall extraction horizon, (4) installing additional cable bolts and roof screening to prevent progressive failure of the immediate headgate roof, (5) fully-grouting supplemental cable bolts to improve headgate support stiffness, and (6) gluing the headgate roof within the recovery areas with polyurethane. As a result of these collective efforts, longwall recovery delays at Bailey Mine were reduced from 21 days in 2006 to nearly zero in 2009.

The mechanism of gold uptake from iodide solutions by carbon has been investigated. Adsorption isotherms for gold and iodine were established. For activated carbon, approximately 300 mg of gold and 1000 mg of iodine were extracted per gram of carbon at maximum loading. Examination of loaded activated carbon particles by scanning electron microscopy reveals isolated patches of gold deposited on the carbon surface. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy shows that fine gold particles (1-4 nm diameter) are uniformly distributed within the carbon. Iodine was also observed throughout the matrix. The uptake of gold by carbon from iodide solution involves a combined reduction and adsorption process, where the gold iodide species is reduced to the metallic state superficially and adsorbed in the porous structure of carbon. A few experiments for the gold-chloride and gold-bromide systems were carried out for comparison.

This project evaluated the performance of nine passive treatment methods by studying 137 treatment units in eight eastern states. Performance was normalized according to construction cost, projected service life and tons of acid load treated. Results were dimensioned as $/tons of acid load treated/year. These costs were then compared to those of chemical treatment. Sites that achieved acid load reductions at costs below those of chemical treatment were considered successful. In addition to evaluating the performance of the treatment methods, this paper describes the various passive treatment systems, their applications and performance data for individual treatment units.

Despite a recession that's crippling many US industries, and a UMW strike that wasn't supposed to happen, 1981 was a fairly good year for the coal industry. The big news was record-high exports. Queues of colliers waited for weeks at Hampton Roads, VA, and Baltimore, MD, to load coal destined for Europe and the Far East. Private industry and city governments began scrambling for a share of the export boom, and port developments were planned in nearly every coastal state. Coal exports jumped from about 82 Mt (90 million st) in 1980 to a record 83 Mt (92 million st) in 1981, according to the National Coal Association. NCA projects exports to remain at this level 1982. The following statistics illustrate industry performance in other areas: • Demand by domestic utilities and overseas customers was so strong that total US consumption reached 760 Mt (838 million st) in 1981. DOE predicts another record year in 1982, with consumption forecast at 804 Mt (886 million st). • 1981 production of 730 Mt (805 million st) was just slightly below the record high of 748 Mt (824 million st) in 1980, "a remarkable figure considering that UMW production was shut off for 72 days during 1981," says NCA President Carl Bagge. Production in 1982 should set a new record, 800 Mt (880 million st). • Eastern coal production fell 7.4%, while western production-largely unaffected by the UMW strike-rose almost 10%. NCA says eastern output will rise almost 12% to 538 Mt (593 million st) in 1982, and western production will increase by 6.6% to 266 Mt (293 million st). • Production per manhour is improving. After the strike, weekly production hit the 16 Mt (18 million st) mark and has approached the 18 Mt (20 million st) per week level. •Coal's share of the US electric generation market increased from 51% in 1980 to 53% in 1981. Electric utilities are coal's biggest customer, and their financial situation is precarious. Inflation has thwarted necessary expansion plans, while shifting environmental regulations have played havoc with construction costs. Utilities increased power sales by only 2.5% in 1981; NCA predicts that utility coal use will increase 4% in 1982. The Association's long-range forecast indicates that growth in electricity demand in the immediate future will be much lower than in the 1960s and 70s. Administration Impact Industry optimism following the election of Ronald Reagan and a Republican-dominated Senate didn't survive the year. One bright spot was the appointment of James Watt as Interior Secretary, and his promises to review surface mining regulations and resume leasing. The administration, however, has declined to support federal eminent domain for slurry pipelines and expects port users to foot most of the bill for expansions and improvements. The paper deals with the activity program and the preliminary results of a research work commissioned by IReR Research Centre and Regione Lombardia to the Department of Land, Environment and Geotechnologies of Politecnico di Torino. The aim is to define measurement, analysis and control criteria for the emission of chemical and physical pollutants from non-metal mining industries, with particular reference to noise and airborne particulates. Such emissions are related to health risks and annoyance problems, both for the working crews and the neighbouring population, and so, in order to get an effective sustainability of the industry, suitable reduction methods and assessment tools are required. A simple technique for the evaluation and forecasting of both the emission levels and deriving impact has been tested at different mining and quarrying sites, considering their differences in terms of layout and exploitation method, the latter ascribed to a series of main typologies as present in Lombardia region.

A statistical model for assessing the risk of ground subsidence in abandoned mine areas is presented. The model is based on the relationship that exists between .the frequency and the location-of subsidence events in a given area and the physical conditions of the ground. These conditions can be described by a series of geological, mining, and physical variables. The model suggests the existence of regions in the multidimensional space of variables which are associated .with increases or decreases in the frequency of subsidence events. Regions associated with an increase in the frequency of subsidence events correspond to regions of higher risks, and vice versa. Risk assessment is based on the ability to express the limits of these high and low risk regions in the, space of variables, and on the ability to express the degree of membership of blocks of land within any of these regions. The theoretical framework for the model is extracted, from discriminant analysis. Risk is quantified by the probabilities of membership of blocks of land into any of these regions. Risk maps are produced by displaying membership probabilities in. appropriate contouring levels. The model has been applied in two urban areas where subsidence of the ground has been active in the past. The two areas are Penn Hills, near Pittsburgh, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in northeastern Pennsylvania. In this paper, only the results for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area are presented. Those for the Penn Hills area have been presented elsewhere (Cervantes, et al, 1990). In the- Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, geostatistical estimates of variables likely to affect the stability of the ground were made using samples from 53 drillholes. The estimates were made for 2000x2000 ft squared blocks of land covering the study area. Discriminant functions were computed from the estimated variables and used to establish regions for classifying blocks of land into one of these two populations: 1) blocks not likely to have a subsidence event, and ii) blocks likely to have one or more subsidence events. The same, discriminant functions were used to compute membership probabilities for blocks of land to tall within any of these two populations. These probabilities were contoured to produce a risk map. The risk map produced compares well with the location of the subsidence events which have occurred to date in the area.

Optimization of the rock cutting performance plays a major role in the tunneling operation. For a given set of tool and cutting environment, rock fragments may be chipped away in numerous manners and it is crucial to understand and be able to predict the dynamics at the cutter-rock interface. This paper presents rational and realistic 3D finite element modeling of rock cutting where typical computational issues ?such as contact formulation, appropriate rock material response, mesh distortion, and crack propagation? are overcome. Cutting forces and failure mechanisms in this finite element analysis are successfully validated by laboratory single-cutter scratching tests in sandstone.

INTRODUCTION At the time the 4th edition of this book was published in 1979, the coal industry had experienced a sharp upturn in prices for its product. From 1950 throgh 1969, steam coal prices had held almost flat at about $5 US per st (about $5.50/t). Thus, when considering the effects of inflation, the price of coal had actually been declining for two decades. The passage of the Coal Mine Health and Safety Act in 1969 and its cost effects started an upward trend in coal prices which was rapidly accelerated by the effects of the Mid-East oil embargo in 1972. Prices of steam coal on the spot market eventually climbed to over $30 US per st ($33/t) and higher in some cases. Metallurgical coal prices skyrocketed in a similar manner and the industry at long last appeared assured of an adequate return on investment. Many companies did expend large sums of money to upgrade and expand their mining and preparation facilities. Unfortunately the bubble eventually burst, in great measure due to the downturn in the US domestic steel industry and the resultant decline in metallurgical coal demand, loss of export markets to other nations and even imports of large amounts of foreign coal to the United States, and more stringent environmental regulations which made many high sulfur coal measures uneconomical to mine. Compounding the problem was the rapid world decline in oil prices in the mid-1980s which encouraged many consumers to utilize oil rather than coal. During the 1980s, metallurgical coal dropped over 20% in price, which, when considering inflation, actually amounted to about a 40% decrease in value. Export coal decreased a similar amount in price. Steam coal prices held nearly constant, thus also losing considerable value when inflation is considered. All of these factors make it even more imperative than ever that the industry do everything in its power to make wise economic decisions and to examine carefully all existing operations and planned future expenditures to be certain that their full cost implications are understood and that they can be justified on the basis of an adequate return on investment. It cannot be assumed that the price of coal will increase. To the contrary, as indicated previously, when considering inflation, coal decreased in value in the 1980s, just as it also did in the 1950s and 1960s. The price surges in the 1970s merely were a catchup game, and in truth the true market value of coal is in reality even lower than it was in 1950. It is imperative that the hydrogeologic frame- work and the ground water flow systems of a Potential mine area be investigated prior to initiation of mining. Such investigations are necessary so that potential mine water inflow problems can be anticipated and controlled. Obvious difficulties can arise if large inflows of ground water occur in underground workings. Costs of water removal and disposal, if not foreseen and included in economic planning, can severely limit or eliminate profit from a mining operation. Safety problems associated with large inflows are an additional potential problem. The inflow of water into a mine necessarily alters the associated ground water system. The inflow also may impact nearby surface water regimes, depending upon the interaction of the surface water and ground water systems. The inflow of water into a mine inevitably causes a decline in the ground water levels in the vicinity of the mine. This decline may be restricted to a small area or it may extend a considerable distance, depending upon the hydrogeologic properties of the associated hydrostratigraphic units. A decrease in surface flow will result if the area of ground water level decline intersects a stream or spring that is hydraulically connected to the ground water system. Mine inflow problems historically have been evaluated after-the-fact. Premining hydrologic investigations only recently have been initiated. Brown's (1977)* report on anticipated hydrologic impacts of oil shale mining in the Piceance Basin of Colorado is an example of premining hydrologic planning. Observed difficulties inherent in designing a data collection network and then utilizing the data to predict mine inflow have led us to the preparation of this manuscript. This manuscript reflects a two-phase effort. The first phase describes and develops analytical and numerical techniques for mine inflow prediction. Emphasis in this section is placed on the selection and application of data collection techniques and data analysis procedures. The second phase applies the prediction technique(s) developed during phase 1 to two existing mines. The objective of phase 1 efforts is to evaluate the hydrologic variables associated with surface water systems and ground water systems that can affect the inflow of water into an underground mine. Subsequently these variables are incorporated into predictive techniques for estimating underground mine water inflow and its effect on associated ground water and surface water systems. The specific objectives of phases 1 and 2 are to: 1) Determine the hydrologic parameters required for predicting underground mine water in- flow and the potential effects of the inflow on surface and ground water systems. The hydrologic parameters represent both premining and past initiation conditions. 2) Outline methods for obtaining the necessary input data for the predictive techniques in pre- mining and post initiation periods. 3) Present existing numerical techniques for predicting underground mine water inflow including assumptions Ad required input. 4) Evaluate existing numerical techniques previously tabulated based on their applicability to mine water inflow prediction. 5) Attempt to develop analytical techniques for predicting underground mine water inflow. 6) Develop, through modification of existing models, a general mathematical model as a numerical technique for predicting underground mine water inflow and the resultant effects on surface and ground water systems. 7) Apply the predictive techniques to two existing mines selected for this purpose. 8) Compare the predicted inflow rates to measured inflow rates at both mines. 9) Compare predicted impact on district hydrology to observed impacts where possible. 10) Evaluate the predictive technique.

IARC classified crystal-line silica as a Group 2A (probable) carcinogen in humans. Adverse classification by IARC, which is a non-regulatory agency, is very significant because many regulatory bodies follow or consider its findings. California included IARC findings in its listing of toxic materials under Proposition 65. OSHA considered IARC findings while promulgating its regulations on hazardous air contaminants. The impact of these scientific and regulatory trends in the mineral industry will be broad. Minerals and materials bearing silica at very low levels will be affected by the "IARC threshold of 0.1% crystalline silica. The regulatory track should follow that of talc and asbestos including the emotional aspects. Silica is much more common than talc or asbestos so, in the final analysis, it may have the farthest reaching impact on industry. Permissible levels set by California and OSHA have usually been lower than industry desires but higher than environmentalists desire. This pragmatic approach will blunt the impact somewhat.

"BIM technologies provide tools and processes to effectively support the entire life of an infrastructure, from strategic planning to maintenance. As a consequence, infrastructure design processes currently make frequent use of BIM tools. This paper describes the BIM oriented design of the underground railway extension in the metropolitan area of Catania. The paper highlights the design process and the chosen BIM tools considering the boundary conditions characterizing the project, i.e. basic information missing in the final design project, need of coordination between different design disciplines and designer companies, and, finally, need for a flexible design approach able to adapt to changes occurring during design development. INTRODUCTION The underground railway extension in the metropolitan area of Catania is composed of two lots of approximately two km each, namely “Stesicoro-Aeroporto” and “Nesima –Misterbianco”. Works to be realized are: •,Main tunnel: mechanized tunneling using a TBM-EPB machine, for the entire length of the lot; •,Underground stations: San Domenico, Vittorio Emanuele and Palestro, conventionally excavated as enlargement of the TBM tunnel after the partial demolition of precast segments; •,Ventilation and emergency shafts: connecting seven tunnel levels to road level on Stesicoro-Areaposto lot, six on Nesima-Misterbianco lot; •,Additional structures such as technical rooms and parking lot; •,Electric Substation at Monte Po' stop; •,Temporary works: TBM launching and arrival pit to be dismantled at the end of the works."

Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) continues to be a concern of the mining industry. A new noise standard (30 CFR, Part 62) is aimed at reducing NIHL in mining through engineering and administrative noise controls. However, the difficulty and expense of implementing engineering controls can make administrative controls an attractive alternative for reducing worker noise exposure. Over the last three years, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has conducted worker noise exposure surveys in underground and surface coal mines and coal preparation plants. The surveys revealed numerous possible administrative controls and an approach to implementation and analysis. The surveys have shown that worker dosimetry, time-motion studies, and equipment noise profiling are important aspects of effectively utilizing administrative controls. A description of the approach for selecting, implementing, and evaluating administrative controls, and a list of administrative controls, are reported.
