In order to improve the thermal environment in deep coal mines, two principles can be applied: firstly, the reduction of heat flow into the air stream, and secondly, cooling of the air current. First of all one should try to minimize the heat-flow rate into the air stream underground by the mining method itself. German coal mines prefer the caving system of advance longwall mining simultaneously on several levels with ascensional ventilation. The effects of descensional ventilation and different face ventilation layouts on the thermal environment are discussed, besides the effects of pneumatic and hydraulic stowing. Application of all mentioned possibilities together instead of today's common mining method would reduce the Basis Effective Temperature considerably. In the future, hydraulic haulage of the raw coal underground substituting belt conveying may be a mean to improve the thermal environment further on. If the working depth of a coal mine exceeds about 1 000 m, cooling of the air stream under-ground will be necessary in addition to the above- mentioned measures. Generally, in German coal mines different types of indirect-contact air coolers located nearby the face are used. Besides such so-called cooling coils, large-capacity spray coolers are used because they work more efficiently if a great cooling duty is demanded. Common designs of both air cooler types and their possible utilizations are demonstrated. Deep coal mines in the Federal Republic of Germany need up to 30 MW of total cooling capacity. Mostly, the needed chilled water is cooled by large-capacity refrigeration plants placed on surface, underground or in combination of the above locations nearby the shaft. Due to the increasing underground cooling demand, the distribution of the chilled water and the control of the air coolers become more important. The conception of a control system is discussed, which is based on the control of the single air coolers. All air coolers of a mine are controlled so as to optimize the supply water-flow rate with regard to the demanded cooling duty of the coolers. On the next upper level of the control system the whole chilled water network and finally the refrigeration plant is regulated. Present research work deals with the use of ice for cooling mines. There are some unsolved problems in this new cooling concept. Some aspects of making, transporting and storing ice are described. The use of ice may probably reduce the cooling costs of German collieries, which are at present approximately 4 DM per ton of saleable coal.

INTRODUCTION Since the first introduction of explosives into mining operations, safety considerations have prohibited the use of machinery in association with the explosives. Only within the last 25 years has this situation changed appre¬ciably; the closest thing to "machinery" used by a powderman in the "old days" was his wooden tamping stick. With the blackpowder and dynamite used during the first 150 or so years of mining blasts, substituting a drill steel or a metal "spoon" invited serious disaster. With the advent of ammonium nitrate-fuel oil (ANFO) explosives (1950s) and water-gel explosives (1970s) for underground blasting, machinery started to play a large part in blasting procedures. The lower sensitivity of ANFO and water gels allows these prod¬ucts to be loaded in a variety of safe ways. Not only has this meant cost savings in labor and blasting materials, but it has also resulted in whole new mining concepts where the limitations of dynamite previously made those concepts uneconomical, impossible, or excessively risky. Increasingly (totally for some mines), the traditional tamping stick has given way to a variety of pneumatic machines for loading explosives and blasting agents. The resulting blasting operations have become safer, more efficient, less uncomfortable for personnel, and a major step forward in mining technology. ANFO LOADING EQUIPMENT Three basic types of loaders are used for ANFO explosives, these being the pressure-vessel loaders, Venturi loaders, and combination loaders. Pressure-Vessel ANFO Loaders ANFO consists of prilled ammonium nitrate (porous pellets I to 2 mm in diam) and fuel oil in the appro¬priate 94 to 6% blend. The material is fairly dry, pourable, and easily conveyed by an air stream. One device or system for handling (hole loading) ANFO is the pressure-vessel loader. ANFO is dumped into the vessel or "pot," and the vessel then is pres¬surized. The ANFO is conveyed out of the bottom of the vessel into a semiconductive hose that has been inserted into the blasthole. Fig. 1 illustrates a typical pressure-vessel loader in use. Applications: The use of pressure-vessel loaders is widespread in room-and-pillar mines, including salt, potash, trona, lead, and other rubber-tired mines where the heavy pressure vessels can be mounted on a vehicle for transport from face to face. The vessel often is large enough to hold eight or more 23-kg (50-1b) bags of ANFO, so several faces can be loaded before refilling. Injection of alkaline waste-lime slurry was performed at a West Virginia surface coal mine site, to attempt neutralization of acid springs by an alkaline recharge method. Deep trenching (>5 m) using an excavator yielded the most effective injection into the aquifer. Water from two springs, 90 m from the deep trench, showed 70%-80% reduction in acidity in response to injection. Neutralization persisted >170 days after treatment, with pH between 5.1-5.7 and metal acidity from 25-60 mg/L. A minor fraction of lime introduced was consumed. The sustained neutralization is attributed to reaction of acid water with subsurface lime, entrained below the wafer table by macropore infiltration. Characteristics of groundwater transport are critical in determining recharge structure location.

Cable bolts are used as a means of rock support around underground excavations in many mines across Canada and around the world. A substantial body of research on cable bolting was conducted at a number of Canadian universities and mines from the mid-1980s through the 1990s. Since then, research into selected areas of cable bolting practice has continued in Canada. The research has focussed on cable bolt instrumentation and on the inclusion of cable bolts in empirical stope design techniques. A review of cable bolting practice is now warranted at many mines. It has been five years since the completion of the previous substantial body of Canadian academic research and the associated advancement in understanding of cable bolt design, implementation and verification practice. Attempts were made at that time to transfer the new design procedures and performance assessment technologies to mine-site personnel. In some cases, this was effective, and ground control personnel continue to improve on their cable bolting practice at each specific mine site. However, at other sites, experienced people have moved on, and the new, less experienced personnel do not have access to the training or technical resources required to improve their understanding of the subject. In other cases, the technology was not transferred effectively to practitioners, with the result that substantial improvements can be made to the cable bolting practice at those mines. Guidelines for auditing cable bolting practice are provided in this paper. The guidelines include a discussion of the objectives of the audit, suggestions for audit procedure and a summary of the possible outcomes of a cable bolt audit. The objectives of an audit might include assessing the reasons for unexpected cable bolt failures, evaluating the quality of the installation procedures, quantifying the efficiency of the cable bolt system and assessing training requirements and procedures. A cable bolt audit should include consideration of all aspects of the cable bolting cycle, including the design, implementation and verification phases of the operation. At the end of the audit, a ranking should be assigned to the components of the cycle. The ranking system can then be used to identify items that require immediate attention, others that could be improved and others that are adequate. Following completion of a cable bolt audit, increased confidence in the support system and its application is generally, found, along with the potential for cost savings in many cases.

INTRODUCTION The Scope of the Chapter This chapter discusses environmental regulation and closely-related public policies associated with mineral development in the United States. This chapter outlines the nature, extent, and amelioration of secondary effects of mineral development. It sketches the policy foundations of regulation; discusses the implementation of environmental law; describes land use conflicts and land management regimes; and surveys the costs and benefits of environmental regulation. Since regulations are subject to frequent change, the chapter emphasizes basic factual and conceptual material, rather than specific regulations. The goal is to familiarize the reader with the general nature of environmental impacts and mitigation which arise in the minerals industry, and with the issues surrounding the regulation debate. The chapter is organized as a series of sub- chapters. The first of these is a discussion of the conceptual foundations of regulatory policy. The second section summarizes the principal federal environmental statutes, and the implementation of such regulation. Following that, the third section summarizes the current state of knowledge regarding the types of environmental impacts associated with mineral development. This discussion, organized in a format similar to that used in environmental impact statements, can be thought of as a guide to reading and understanding such statements. Next, the fourth section surveys studies of the costs and benefits of environmental regulation. 'These empirical studies are evaluated in terms of the framework developed in the first section of the chapter. In the fifth section, the discussion turns to federal, state, and local approaches to land use control and siting, and the economic analysis of such conflicts. Included are discussions of the two principal forms of public lands mineral entry, the 1872 location patent system and the 1920 leasing approach. CONCEPTUAL FOUNDATIONS OF REGULATORY POLICY David A. In a market society, the private sector is presumed to be the most appropriate economic agent. Given this presumption, regulation generally begins with a demonstration of persistent problems under laissez-faire in a given context. Environmental and related regulation occurs because the public believes the free market does not properly value environ- mental quality. In this section, concepts are advanced to aid the reader in understanding the government's role in this respect.

At a mine in central PA, high horizontal stresses have caused long running roof falls resulting in hazardous conditions for the miners and the premature abandonment of panels. Because of these conditions, the mine requested assistance of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in utilizing the "advance and relieve" method to mitigate the affects of horizontal stress on the mine roof. "Advance and relieve" mining involves the removal of a pillar or a portion of a pillar during development, thereby creating a cave along one side of the panel. Following cave development, the horizontal stress is relieved over the workings adjacent to the cave in the active panel. The mine has used this system in three panels with a significant reduction in stress damage and no large roof falls.

The refractory materials industry provides the largest commercial market for nonmetallurgical grade bauxite. Refractory grade bauxite is prepared from bauxites having low iron, titania, and alkali content by calcining at temperatures near 1,650° C. Although there are substantial bauxite reserves in the world, premium grade bauxite ores suitable for use in refractory applications are limited to only a few specific sources, primarily in Guyana and the People's Republic of China. Consumption of bauxite for refractory use is closely associated with the production and consumption of primary metals, in particular iron and steel. Barring major disruptions within the principal producer nations, sufficient supplies of refractory bauxite will be available to meet world demand well into the next century, and raw material costs will continue to determine the availability of markets for bauxite-based refractory products.

"The Confederation Line is phase one of Ottawa’s light rail transit, which consists of 13 stops and stations. The project’s center piece is a 2.5 kilometer (1.6 miles) long tunnel with three underground stations leading underneath downtown Ottawa and is constructed within feet of adjacent buildings. The downtown stations, Lyon and Parliament, are caverns approximately 16.5 m (54 ft) by 18 m (59 ft) in a horseshoe configuration constructed in rock, while the third station, Rideau, is approximately 22 m (72 ft) by 18 m (59 ft) in an oval configuration and constructed in mixed ground. The paper will discuss design decisions made early on in the project such as excavation method, unique construction sequencing, and equipment selection, and go on to include corresponding progress rates. The paper also documents design and construction challenges of large caverns in very close proximity to existing buildings and varying ground conditions. Finally, an overview of achieved construction milestones and a current construction progress will be presented. Station cavern excavation is expected to be completed in early 2016. INTRODUCTION The number of urban metro construction projects has certainly increased over the last decades. Cities are growing rapidly all over the planet and many are striving to keep up with the increased demand for public transportation. One of the most feasible types of inner-city transportation with the capacity for large quantities of passengers are metro (subway) systems. Still, large construction projects in dense urban areas often affect the city’s residents in mostly negative ways. During construction, residents face the obstacles of road closures, noise, dust, economic loss for businesses, and property value losses are common. In other words, individuals are directly affected by the way new infrastructures are planned, designed, built and operated. The tunneling industry offers unique opportunities of keeping these side effects to a minimum and possibly avoiding them all together. Although challenged by a variety of constraints (some of which will be discussed in this paper), urban tunneling applications offer a chance to keep cities environmentally, economically, socially, and culturally sound during construction."

Have you, for example, ever wondered where the raw material for those distinctive greenish grey statuettes, so readily recognizable as Eskimo carvings, comes from? When tunneling through karstic terrain, diverse and complex karst structures are to be expected. By means of drilling ahead of the face using drill jumbos, these structures can be detected to such a degree that by applying proper support measures both open karst cavities and karst holes surrounded by boulders embedded in soft rock can be mastered without causing any break-outs. Support measures such as spiles ahead of excavation, sealing off cavities, back?lling with sand, etc. have to be planned schematically and adapted to the dimensions and formations of the karst structures on site. An essential requirement for a smooth excavation procedure is the availablility of all necessary tunneling equipment for excavation by drill and blast as well as for excavation of soil, with experienced tunnel engineers being in charge of any adaptions on site.

Not since 1917 has a foreign company developed a standalone, grass roots gold mine in Russia. With Russia's political changes of the late 1980s, development of mineral prospects once again beckons foreign investors. Cyprus Amax's interest in Russia began before the mid-1991 breakup of the former Soviet Union. In 1990, Cyprus Amax began searching for such an opportunity. Early this year, production will begin at the Kubaka gold project located in the Russian Far East, near the Arctic Circle. The Kubaka project is a 1.75-kt/d (1,930-stpd) open-pit operation that will produce more than 9.3 t/a (300,000 oz/year) of gold. Identifying Russian mining opportunities In late 1990, the first Cyprus Amax people travelled to Russia. The trip was to determine the potential for western firms to develop profitable mines. This encouraging visit suggested that Cyprus Amax focus on the Russian Far East with its mineral riches and its easier access to the United States. The company's initial efforts thus focused on working with the Soviet Union's Northeast Geologic Expedition, the then government agency for exploration and geology in Russia's Far East. After the breakup of the Soviet Union, Cyprus Amax continued working with the same people, but they now represented new independent, nongovernmental entities. For three years, Cyprus Amax investigated numerous deposits. This resulted in the identification of two properties of significant interest, one of which was Kubaka. Location Kubaka is located in the Northern Evensk District of the Magadan Oblast in the Russian Far East. This is an area east of Siberia. The project is situated in a mountainous area of the Kolyma Range, about 300 km (985 miles) south of the Arctic Circle. It is 285 km (180 miles) north of the fishing village of Evensk and 380 km (235 miles) northeast of the silver-mining town Omsukchan. The site is 950 km (590 miles) northeast of the regional capital city of Magadan. Magadan, the political and economic center of the Oblast, has a population of about 150,000 people. What is your assessment of the current state of the minerals industry? It is no understatement that domestic mining is facing a severe crisis at this time. The sharp decline in commodity prices and demand is putting a great strain on domestic and worldwide mining, causing major declines in profits and market capital of mining companies. This, in turn, has lead to major production cuts, layoffs, shut-downs of operating properties, and the deferral of new and expansion projects. These changes in the minerals industry have played a major role in the health of the economy. Operationally, the industry continues to develop new technologies that are making our work more efficient, more cost effective and more environmentally acceptable and safe. During downturns like this, companies generally pay closer attention to operational efficiencies and process optimization. Historically, new technologies and processes tend to be developed during down markets, and I believe we will see the same thing as companies strive to preserve liquidity and maintain or improve their margins. On the positive side, the drop in commodity prices has resulted in a reduction in operational costs, as the costs for fuel supplies and construction materials have decreased.

After location and verification of exploitable mineral resources, mineral development re- quires capital goods, labor, and energy to extract the deposit. In addition, a growing social awareness of the need for a healthy environment re- quires inclusion of environmental burdens to the total costs incurred. This is because mineral development is detrimental to the environment in a number of ways. All mining .operations involve the separation of valuable minerals from the surrounding waste rock, which in turn re- quires permanent disposal of unwanted or un- used materials. Mine overburden, wastes, and tailings are often transferred to peripheral areas where they remain as unsightly features in the natural landscape. Some mine spoils contain harmful or contaminating substances as heavy metal salts or acid forming materials which subsequently are released to the environment. Many types of mining operations handle significant quantities of water during extraction or beneficiation processes. When discharged, the quality of such water often is unsuitable for residential, agricultural, or recreational use. Since mining activity disturbs the natural vegetation in the project area, water may be allowed to transport soil materials into streams, causing erosion and siltation. In particular, surface mining operations disturb the top layers of soils, resulting in losses of productivity for long periods of time. Excavation, transportation, and further processing of large volumes of both ores and waste materials generate substantial quantities of particulate and gaseous emissions, some of which contain metal dusts or compounds of sulfur. Such fugitive and point source emissions can be transported beyond the confines of mineral operations to cause annoyance and damage at more distant locations. Environmental degredation or pollution can be viewed as the alteration of the environment by man through the introduction of materials which represent potential or real hazards to hu- man health, disruption to living resources and ecological systems, impairment to structures or amenity, or interference with socially desired uses of the environment. The significance of environmental degradation is reflected in its effects on a range of receptors, including humans as well as the resources and ecological systems upon which we depend. Pollution also is judged in the social context of damage to environmental structures and amenities. The demand for restoration and maintenance of environmental quality presents the mineral industry with a challenge to successfully man- age discharges and returns to the environment in order to avoid undesirable and harmful consequences. To accommodate the new Pier A expansion at BWI airport, a 1.8 m (6.0 ft)diameter stormwater pipe was constructed below active Runway 15R-33L. The jacked tunnel alignment runs east/west below the runway, and the depth the crown was 6.1 m(20 ft). Soil conditions consisted of very loose to medium sand and gravel, with some medium stiff clay and silt. Super Jet Grouting was selected as the ground treatment system, creating large diameter columns. All work was performed from the surface of the runway between the hours of 12 am and 6 am. Monitoring points along the tunnel in the grout zone indicated zero settlement during tunneling. Tunneling operations in front of and beyond the treatment zone experienced significant settlement. Super Jet Grouting in the treatment zone provided a low permeability continuous stable soilcrete that was readily mined while the runway remained in service.

A study was made to determine those petrographic parameters that are correlative with carbonate-aggregate quality as indicated by the Los Angeles abrasion and absorption tests. Samples collected at 28 sites in northern and eastern Indiana were analyzed petrographically, chiefly for void content, grain size, grain-size variation, grain shape, and grain interlock. Most of the sampled sites are in the belt of Silurian rocks of east-central and north- western Indiana. Though a few sites lie outside this belt, most of these have only a thin Devonian section above the Silurian. Three sites are non-Silurian and are included for comparison. Most of the samples studied are from Middle and Upper Silurian units. Both biohermal and nonbiohermal facies are included. The biohermal rocks are typically dense but vugular, finely crystalline granular dolomite. Nonbiohermal facies are porous, medium to coarsely crystalline, granular dolomite with dolomite rhombs The Los Angeles abrasion losses ranged from 20 to 46 per cent, the rocks in the eastern part of the state showing the higher values. Absorption tests indicate the same general quality trend. Comparison of petrographic studies with Los Angeles abrasion- and absorption-test results indicate the following correlations. (1) As per, cent of voids increases, quality decreases. (2) As average grain size increases, quality decreases. (3) Variations from mean grain size appear to have no effect on the quality. (4) As angularity and roughness of the grains increase, quality increases. (5) As grain-to-grain interlock increases, quality increases. Variations in the calcium-magnesium ratio have no apparent effect on aggregate quality, except as they affect the texture.

Hydrologic impacts of longwall mining were studied in 1986 after mining had occurred at mine "Z" in northern West Virginia. This mine is 700 to 1,300 ft deep, with a surface topographic relief of 300 to 500 ft. Five springs and one dug well were reportedly dewatered by mining. All such supplies are above nearby streams in elevation, and at least 800 ft above the subsided mine. Three of these six supplies showed partial recovery within one year. Only supplies within 50 ft in elevation of a nearby stream showed apparent partial recovery. Measured perennial streams showed notable depletion in streamflow over mined longwall panels that were less than two years old. Normal stream discharge was measured over panels more than two years old. Most apparent hydrologic dewatering impacts appear to be temporary, and the most vulnerable areas for these impacts are hill sides.

Few factors are as important as fluctuations in aggregate economic activity and exchange rates in determining the profitability of mineral investments. Macroeconamic theory explains how the two factors are interconnected in today's world and in tomorrow's. We can use macro¬economic theory to lessen some of the risks in mineral investments. And in the current state of the world the risks are high. The above paragraph summarizes our argument. Our goal in this paper is to examine the nature of contemporary business cycles so as to explain their implications for the metal industries, particularly the implications for capacity. Thus, our first section examines the workings, causes, and history of the recent economic fluc¬tuations. In doing so we must understand how current world economy is interconnected, that is, how economic events in one country are trans¬mitted to the rest of the world. Our view is that governments and central banks are key actors in the creating of economic fluctuations. Then, in section two, we work out the implications of section one for the metal industries focussing on comparative advantage, trade, and capacity decisions. Over the last fifteen years the world economic system has had slow overall economic growth and has had strangely unpleasant recessions. While future business cycle will not repeat the de¬tailed pattern we have seen, there will be similarities. The similarities need to be under¬stood before investment occurs. The slow growth in the world economy since the early 1970s has aggravated the problems from business cycles, created its own problems, and has partially hidden the effects of other events. Major realignments of currencies are likely to take place over a business cycle. The nature of the causes of the cycle will determine the direc¬tion of change in the exchange rates. For example, whether a USA recession will be accompanied by a weaker or a stronger dollar will be determined by the cause of the recession. The realignment of currencies over a business cycle leads to a realignment of comparative advantage in the metal industries. Thus, not only will world metal consumption vary over the business cycle but the impact on various countries' metals industries will differ consi¬derably. Competitiveness often depends more on the value of the dollar than it does on inherent efficiency and wage rates. Capacity decisions are inherently riskier due to the country specific nature of exchange rate risk. A realignment of currencies changes the pattern of trade if and only if the country with the cheaper currency also has idle capacity. The importance of our topic is indicated by Table 1 which shows the impact of cyclical and exchange rate shocks on the USA metal industry. I. INTRODUCTION During the past few years, the state of the art of disposal of solid and liquid waste products from uranium mining and milling operations has experienced some rather interesting and significant changes. Some of these changes have resulted from technological advances in the milling operations and in the engineering aspects of the actual design and construction of the disposal facilities. However, the most significant changes, at least those which have had the greatest impact on the comparative cost and economics of modern disposal systems, have been environmental requirements and regulatory controls, which have become increasingly stringent in recent years. Without delving into the details of the myriad of new laws and regulations which now control the uranium industry, it can be stated with reasonable confidence that one of the principal purposes of more rigid state and federal controls over this industry is the basic desire to promote safer, more reliable and longer term means of effectively controlling and disposing of the potentially objectionable waste products resulting from uranium mining and milling operations. It is difficult to take issue with these basic goals because their need was spawned by past lack of awareness and inattention on the parts of both government and industry to the long term environmental problems and potentially hazardous conditions which can be created by limited planning and ill-conceived or poorly controlled and executed disposal practices. On the other hand, despite the good intentions of those who developed and those who are administering the regulatory controls now in effect, the basic danger exists that overgeneralization of the approach to disposal problems and overrestriction of the potentially acceptable solutions for uranium mine and mill waste disposal could have a significant, adverse economic impact on the mining industry and the ultimate consumers of their products. Industrial-mineral mining started early in the history of the State when salt was extensively mined for use in processing gold and silver ores, and borates were produced to meet most of the world's needs. After this start, industrial-mineral production grew slowly until World War II, mostly because of the remoteness of the State and the small population. Nevada now has a large and varied industrial-mineral industry. In 1983, 14 principal commodities were produced from 48 deposits; the total value of these materials was 168 million dollars. Nevada ranks first in domestic production of barite and magnesite; second in diatomite, gem stones, and lithium; third in fluorspar; and sixth in gypsum. Other materials produced are carbonate rocks, cement, clays, decorative and crushed stone, light- weight aggregate, perlite, pyritic soil additive, salt, sand and gravel, and silica. From 1978 through 1982 barite was the most important commodity; in 1983 diatomite surpassed barite in value of production. Most of the Nevada production consists of high-value commodities that are consumed out of the State. Approximately 430 significant deposits with 20 principal commodities are present in Nevada. This abundance can be attributed to the numerous and diverse geologic processes that have been operative. Seven major modes of origin have been identified: hydrothermal activity, sedimentation, combined hydrothermal activity-sedimentation, evaporative precipitation, brine formation, extrusion of igneous rocks, and alteration by ground water. The hydrothermal type accounted for 39 percent of the deposits, the combined hydrothermal-sedimentary type for 28 percent, and the sedimentary type for 13 percent. Nevada diatomite production is about 200,000 short tons/year valued at 30 million dollars. In 1984 three companies operated in Nevada producing diatomite from six open pits and processing it at four plants - one plant producing filter-grade materials and the others adsorbents and fillers. The diatomite occurs in about 60 areas, almost all in the western one-third of the State. The diatomites were deposited in long-lasting, fresh-water lakes in topographically closed valleys formed by basin-and-range faulting. About 85 percent of the barite mined in the United States is produced in Nevada. In 1981 the high point of production,-2.5 million short tons of bedded barite was produced from about 30 open-pit mines. About 120 significant bedded-barite deposits are known in Nevada; 38 of these have had past production of more than 25,000 short tons. The deposits are associated with marine siliceous rocks of Cambrian through Devonian age and occur in a zone about 300 miles long and 60 miles wide. Abundant evidence supports the theory that the bedded barite is of exhalative sedimentary origin.

Traditionally, water removal has taken a backseat to many other coal mining functions. However, it is a vital part of the total mine support system. In many US coal mines, more tons of water are removed each year than tons of coal. An excellent discussion of general drainage characteristics can be found in Chapter 8 of Elements of Practical Coal Mining, published by SME-AIME. This chapter is organized into three major sections. These are: designing effective drainage systems; constructing the main mine pumping station (static system); and constructing a portable pumping station (dynamic system). Each topic presents a separate discussion of the elements a construction foreman or engineer should consider for effective installation and operation of the mine drainage system. In addition, a list of pumping equipment manufacturers is available to interested persons and follows these sections.
