Two methods are developed whereby; (1) mineralogic data can be arranged in order of typicality, and (2) mineralogic data external to a model can be compared with the model and the degrees of association computed. Thirty arbitrarily selected base metal mining districts in the conterminous United States were classified as copper, lead, or zinc districts on the basis of tonnage of the major base metal produced. For each of the copper, lead, and zinc districts binary-occurrence distributions were compiled for primary (unoxidized) and secondary (oxidized) minerals. Primary and secondary minerals were then arranged in order of decreasing typicality. Model copper districts are most typified by primary chalcopyrite, pyrite, and secondary malachite. Model lead districts are most typified by primary galena, quartz, pyrite, sphalerite, and secondary anglesite and cerargyrite. Model zinc districts are most typified by primary sphalerite, galena, pyrite, quartz, and secondary smithsonite and cerus-site. The Park City district was removed from the model and its primary and secondary mineralogy was compared with the model copper, lead, and zinc districts. The primary mineralogy of the Park City district is about equally associated with the model copper and lead districts, but the secondary mineralogy is much more akin to the model copper districts. Thus, with respect to the model data, the geochemical target presented by the Park City district resembles a copper district more closely than a lead district.

Selenium (Se) in effluent waters has become a significant challenge for a number of industries. Toxicity studies and new reports of occurrence have certainly caused increased scrutiny and actions in the mining industry today (Sandy, DiSante, 2010). While initial activity in addressing selenium-laden waters were conducted in the coal mining industry, today a much broader range of mine types are beginning to search for solutions to selenium treatment of their mining waters, including both hard rock mining operations (gold, nickel, zinc, etc.) and soft rock mining (phosphate, uranium, etc.) Throughout North America, new regulations covering selenium discharge are either in place or being developed. While a number of physical/chemical approaches show promise in selenium treatment, when considering optimal cost and treatment efficacy issues, biological treatment ? particularly fixed-film biological treatment - is reported to be one of the most promising approaches to managing selenium-containing waters. Among biological treatment options, the fluidized bed reactor (FBR) has undergone extensive pilot testing for Se treatment in the last three years, including eight pilot programs, and the first FBR system is now operating at a coal mining site. In all tests, the FBR has been shown to be a highly cost-effective approach to selenium treatment based on its physical and performance characteristics. This is consistent with its history for reaching low levels of treatment in similar service for other oxyanions including perchlorate, nitrate and various metals. With the results from the most recent testing, the technology has been shown to be adaptable to an ever-broadening range of influent water conditions and flow rates, in varying terrains and weather conditions. Selenium occurs in various valence states from -2 to +6 (Sobolewski, 2005). The speciation of selenium plays a critical role in understanding the effectiveness of any approach for removal, especially to low levels. Elemental selenium is insoluble and has little effect on living organisms. Colloidal fractions are known to occur. In aqueous environments such as coal mining runoff, selenium is most often found as the oxygenated anions of selenite (SeO32-, Se4+) and selenate, (SeO42-, Se6+). Selenium is commonly found in mining waters in concentrations ranging from 3 to >12,000 µg/L. The U.S. National Primary Drinking Water Standard MCL is 50 µg/L for selenium (EU 10 µg/L; WHO 40 µg/L). The National Fresh Water Quality Standard is 5 µg/L for selenium. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has recommended that the National Fresh Water Quality Standard be lowered to 2 µg/L to protect fish, waterfowl, and endangered aquatic species. Several states have followed with enforcement actions at these same low levels. In Canada, permits may require stakeholders to monitor levels in water or biota, or to comply with guidelines, at either the National or Provincial levels, which can be as low as 1 or 2 µg/L in surface waters. Treatment of selenium in all mining waters presents a series of challenges. It can be present in relatively dilute concentrations and in streams with variable and often high flow rates. It can be present in many soluble and particulate forms, which may affect process design and treatability. The conditions of influent selenium-containing waters can vary, with issues such as temperature, pH, total dissolved solids and other contaminants affecting the ability to remove selenium selectively and economically. Treatment of selenium often results in the generation of a concentrated by-product requiring disposal, and re-release from residuals can occur. Beyond these issues, the physical environment of a mining operation can offer challenges such as remoteness and harsh and/or cold weather. Currently available selenium treatment technology (Table 1) includes biological treatment and a number of physical-chemical processes ? such as ion exchange, membrane filtration and adsorption ? that vary widely in efficiency and cost. Most treatment options remain either too costly and/or unproven for selenium-containing streams for reasons that include poor removal efficiency, variability in volume and composition of influents, system sizing and logistics considerations, as well as operating requirements.

A new tunnel lining was designed for rehabilitation of the existing unlined Weehawken Tunnel in New Jersey. Structural assessment using beam spring models was performed for the lining design as a drained structure at the invert with a waterproofing umbrella. Empirical Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) guideline was typically adopted for estimating hydrostatic pressure, which recommends full hydrostatic pressure at the crown and ten or twenty-five percent gradual reduction from the initial pressure toward the invert. Finite element seepage analyses were conducted for the actual conditions based on anticipated drainage behind the lining and impact on the structural design. Considerations will be provided on the existing guideline for estimating hydrostatic pressures.

As in every business venture, the primary objective of a mining operation is to make money for those who supply the venture capital. Therefore, all decisions concerning the operation of the mining operation should be made in light of the resulting effect on profit. The ultimate control is on profit, but the process is controlled, for example, by aiming for a recovery or concentrate grade knowing its effect on profit. The normal procedure used to determi.ne the profitability of a venture is to "present worth" all costs and incomes back to some arbitrary year zero. Every company has formed a management decision as to what it will require as a minimum return before it will undertake an investment. Once the economic analysis is completed, investment will be made only if the venture shows a positive present worth. If two alternatives are available, the alternative with the larger positive present worth is the one chosen. The same principles can be applied to the selection of a production schedule.

In parallel work, the cyanide/silver impregnated activated carbon system was studied for the purpose of developing an alternate cyanide removal system. It was found that free cyanide can be reduced from 20 ppm to below 10 ppb with a fixed bed of silver impregnated activated carbon, since such cyanide removal might be applicable to gold mill effluents, the investigation was extended to the cyanide/gold impregnated activated carbon (GIAC) system. Batch tests were conducted varying the gold content of activated carbon, carbon/CN ratio, stirring speed, pH of the initial solution, and the reaction temperature. The adsorption isotherm of cyanide/gold impregnated activated carbon system was also studied. The results of these batch tests show that the behaviour of the cyanide/GIAC system is very similar to the cyanide/silver impregnated activated carbon system variation of the gold content of the impregnated activated carbon has some influence on the cyanide adsorption rate. The latter is mainly increased, however, by increasing the GIAC/CN ratio. The activation energy was determined to be 3.12 kca1/mole (13.08 kj/mole) and the Au(CN)2 saturation at 194 µ M/g NORIT ROX O.B. The experimental results of reaction temperature and stirring speed show that the adsorption of free cyanide on such activated carbon is controlled by pore diffusion inside the activated carbon particle or by surface reaction. The adsorption isotherm follows the linear model and it is favourable for the cyanide/gold impregnated activated carbon system.

The importance of geology in ore reserve estimation has been stated by several authors. King et, a1 (1982) reported that the geological factor was the key deficiency where serious weaknesses in ore reserve estimation appeared, especially in grade. The foundation for a successful mining operation is an ore reserve estimate that neither overstates nor understates the true situation as to tonnage and grade. Overestimation of reserves can have devastating economic results. Overestimation of tonnage may lead to wasting money on an overbuilt plant or worse yet, if grade is seriously overestimated also, to undertaking an operation that is doomed to economic failure from the outset. Understated ore reserves can result in building a plant that is smaller than optimum which may result in higher unit costs. At worst, understated tonnage of ore reserves can result in a missed opportunity for a profitable operation. Failure of the ore reserve estimator to properly take into account all geologic and allied factors pertaining to the deposit can result in an ore reserve estimate that is overstated either as to tonnage or grade or both. This paper will focus on these factors and will not discuss rules about distances above or below a drift that should be given a classification of proven or probable, etc. Each deposit has its own particular characteristics which often require modification of general rules for defining limits of proven and probable ore blocks that work satisfactorily in another deposit. A number of references are included which discuss some of these problems. Definitions of ore reserve classifications and an illustration are given in the Appendix.

A salt dome appears to provide the basic medium requirements for the excavation of the 315 foot diameter, unsupported spherical cavity at a depth of 2700 feet required by the AEC in a proposed "decoupling" experiment. Tatum Salt Dome was a natural choice for a site because more geological and hydrological information has been accumulated on Tatum than any other salt dome on the Gulf Coast. The Tatum Dome is a mile in diameter, roughly flat topped, nearly cylindrical in shape and has some overhang at the top. The salt stock has nearly vertical layering of alternating bands of salt and anhydrite. In the vicinity of the dome, adequate fresh water for solution mining is available in surface streams and in subsurface aquifers. A saline aquifer is available for brine disposal. A tentative cavity location was selected near the center of the dome which meets the design criteria established by the AEC.

Three major suites of igneous rocks were erupted in the Great Basin in middle and late Cenozoic time. The first, most likely, resulted from sub- duction of a Pacific plate (Farallon plate) beneath the North American plate, resulting in eruption of andesitic rocks in the northern Great Basin between 42 and 43 m.y. ago. Between 34 and 17 m.y. ago, igneous activity migrated to the southwest, largely as eruption of volumincus rhyolite-quartz latite ash-flow sheets, ending about 17 a.y. ago with the onset of crustal extension and north-south-trending Basin and Range (rift) faulting. The second volcanic suite erupted between 17 and 8 m.y. ago in the northern Great Basin; is mostly basaltic or bimodal basalt-rhyolite. The third volcanic suite consists of andesitic and rhyolitic lavas and some basalt erupted between about 22 to 6 m.y. ago in the western Great Basin along the northwest-trending Walker Lane fault zone. Hydrothermal ore deposits are associated with all suites of igneous rocks, but the largest production has come from mines associated with andesitic rocks of the third (western Great Basin) suite. The oldest (34 to 42 m.y.) andesitic rocks (first suite) of the northern Great Basin have produced some large deposits; slightly younger silicic rocks of this suite are mostly barren. Many small ore deposits are associated with the 17- to 8-m.y.-old basalts (second suite) of northern Nevada.

The flotation response to amine collector and its adsorption on the mineral surface was studied as a function of pH and collector concentration. The flotation response increased in the order anorthite + intermediate plagih clases + albite, while adsorption of amine obeyed the Freundlich equation r = A.Cn. This adsorption is proposg to be due to a covalent bonding between the AlOH surface pups of the plagioclase altered outer layer and the amino group of the collector. Finally, the study showed thatmtial dissolution of the solid phase provides the necessary conditions for amine attachment on the mineral particles and consequent flotation.

Abstract. The shaft was drilled on U.S. Government land in the Piceance Creek Basin and was funded by the U.S. Bureau of Mines. It was drilled to 723 meters (2 371') to provide access to rich deposits of oil shale, nahcolite and dawsonite for geotechnical test work and environmental mining research. Rotary drilling and dual string, reverse-air, jet-assist circulation methods were used. Drilling required 8 months. Site preparation, running and cementing the casing required another 4 months. A 2.44-meter (96-inch) ID steel welded casing, 5.1 cm (2 inches) thick was installed and 2 700 tonnes (63 000 sacks) of cement were slurried and pumped into the annulus.

The subject of this paper is particle population balance models (PBM) that describe mineral impact crushing behavior; it is mainly concerned with the selection and fragmentation distribution function due to their importance in this context. The data obtained by Datta (1999) by applying impact pendulum testing to single limestone particles, used by Austin (2002, 2004a and 2004b) to obtain the principal parity of fragmentation functions, were processed in order to compare them with the results of other authors, such as Nikolov (2002 and 2004) and Vogel and Peukert (2003 and 2005) so as to increase knowledge of impact crushing. From this data it has been possible to obtain the performance models of the principal parameters of fragmentation function, thereby reducing the number of experiments necessary to model the impact crushing process. The authors also propose a simplification of the selection function model posited by Austin (2002).

The mining industry appears to be slowly rebounding. But many individuals and company officials are still smarting from the beating they received during the recent recession. As a result, companies have taken the "lean and mean" approach. As pointed out at the Oct. 24-26, 1984 SME-AIME Fall Meeting in Denver, CO, companies are placing more emphasis on optimizing their operations through more efficient mining and processing technologies and equipment. Empathizing with the mining industry's woes was the meeting's welcoming luncheon speaker, John D. Withrow, Jr., executive vice president product development for Chrysler Corp. Withrow paralleled Chrysler's problems of a few years ago with the current problems facing the US mining industry. He said Chrysler's come-back centered around its engineering and technical personnel, who regained "their seat at the head table." "In short," Withrow said, "we had lost the competitive edge. By cutting costs and people and improving our products we got everybody to believe we could." The 2700 participants at the Fall Meeting attended technical sessions geared toward turning mining back into a productive and profitable industry. Sessions and symposia included papers on precious metals extraction, crushing and grinding innovations, geomechanics, environmental control, health and safety, and various commodities. This article briefly highlights some of the papers presented. To order preprints of these technical papers, see ME, December 1984, pages 1620 and 1621. Computers Gain Mining Acceptance High tech has reached mining. As evidenced by many papers, computers have become valuable tools in many applications. These include tailings ponds operation and waste management; truck dispatching; mine design, simulation, and scheduling; monitoring; and reclamation. Mine planning is generally labor intensive and requires a considerable amount of the planner's time. P. K. Chatterjee, X. Chung, and Y. Jianjy described a computer-generated interactive graphics approach to under-ground coal mine planning that lessens the manhours involved in producing plans. The computer program examined exploratory borehole information. This included coal seam thickness, tonnage, quality constraints, and the nature of their distribution. Layout designs were then initiated and a probabilistic simulation performed to determine production levels of different extraction strategies. The interactive graphics approach gives planners the ability to quickly evaluate several layout alternatives and select the best one. For surface coal mines, M. A. White, of Arch Minerals Corp., explained several computer programs that aided in his company's surface mine plans. Several drill hole database and modeling pack¬ages are available. But Arch tech¬nicians developed specific pro¬grams for model strip areas. They were used to form long-term pro¬jections for various area and semi¬area stripping operations. They also generated reports on yard¬age, tonnage, quality, and ratio in¬formation. The information is used in budgeting, to compare mine plans, and to analyze acqui¬sition candidates. While computer-based truck dispatching systems have been used in mining for some time, earlier systems were run on ex¬pensive mainframe or high per¬formance minicomputers. As such, computer-based truck dis¬patching systems have been too expensive for all but the largest mines. Recently, however, a microcomputer-based system, af¬fordable to smaller mine opera¬tors, has become technologically feasible. Y. C. Kim and W. E. Kolb re¬ported on a simulated microcom¬puter system that uses strategi¬cally placed signposts in the pit area to automatically detect truck movements. A microprocessor in the signpost sends information to the microcomputer. The computer determines the truck's assign¬ment and alerts the dispatcher. He radios the driver his assign¬ment. In addition to the technical pa¬pers, an introductory short course on microcomputers was offered at the meeting. L. M. Kass and J. P. The separation process called solvent sublation for the removal of two hydrophobic compounds (penta-and tri-chlorophenols) from the aqueous phase is discussed. A steady state mathematical model for the process is discussed. The process was conducted in a continuous countercurrent mode. The underlying mechanisms, theory and experimental details on the effects of process variables on removal efficiency are reported.

INTRODUCTION In the early 1950s, underground miners and tunnel¬ing contractors were experimenting with ways to supple¬ment or eliminate track-bound loading and hauling equipment. Diesel-powered crawler and rubber-tire mounted front-end loaders and trucks designed for use on the surface were being modified and tried with limited but encouraging success. Miners began working with interested manufacturers to explore the develop¬ment of vehicles specifically designed to meet the de¬mands and constraints of underground material han¬dling. By the mid 1960s, load-haul-dump (LHD) vehicles were firmly established as a fundamental part of what has become known as the "trackless" mining concept, used in many mines and many countries around the world. The flexibility, mobility, and versatility of these units have given the industry a useful tool and have added new dimensions to mine development and produc¬tion. Many old mines have been redesigned to accom¬modate these trackless vehicles, and few new mining plans have failed to find some use for the concept during some phase of development and production. By 1977, several manufacturers in several different countries were producing a variety of LHD vehicles to meet the growing worldwide demand. GENERAL DESCRIPTION LHD vehicles combine certain characteristics of conventional front-end loaders and dump trucks, spe¬cifically designed for materials handling in underground mining and tunneling. The design intent is to provide one vehicle with one man, with the vehicle loading itself, hauling the load over level or inclined haulageways, and dumping the load. A typical production cycle of the most popular units has the operator driving the vehicle forward, forcing the bucket into the muck at or near floor level, and using the tractive effort of the vehicle and the prying action of the bucket to roll out and tilt back the load as shown in Fig. 1. With the bucket rolled back into the carrying position on the boom and the boom resting on the main frame of the vehicle, the load is hauled (trammed) to the dump point as shown in Fig. 2. At the dump point, the boom is raised, the bucket is rolled forward, and the load slides out as shown in Fig. 3. After dumping, the bucket is rolled back to the carrying position, the boom is returned to rest on the main frame, and the unit is driven back to the loading point for another load. There are two other types of LHD units that are slightly different in the cycles that they perform. One uses a hopper arrangement carried on the front of the machine, with a small bucket mounted ahead of the hopper. Several passes with the small bucket load the hopper, which is dumped by opening its floor. Al¬though this concept is several years old, it has gained less than 0.5% of the total market. The most recent LHD concept differs in that it has one bucket nesting inside another. The smaller inner bucket is loaded first, and it is then tilted back and above the larger bucket. When the larger bucket has been loaded, it is rolled back, and the total load is trammed to the dumping point. The dumping operation tilts the buckets in the reverse order from that of the loading operation. The impact of this new concept on the mining industry has not been measured yet. This chapter concentrates on the LHD vehicles employing the cycle described by Figs. 1 through 3, since these LHD units constitute an estimated 99% of the units in current use. One of the several problems facing society today is that of disposing of its solid waste. Each year this nation spends approximately 4.5 billion dollars to collect, transport and dispose of some 360 million tons of domestic and industrial solid waste. Although considerable sums of time and money have been spent in researching various techniques for solid waste disposal, it is presently agreed that sanitary landfilling represents the most economic and universally adaptable solution to the problem of solid waste disposal. However, regardless of the factors favoring sanitary landfilling as the waste disposal method of choice, it should be recognized as carrying with it a potential for the degradation of ground- and surfacewater resources. Through an interdisciplinary effort regulations were promulgated during 1971 in the State of Iowa to govern sanitary disposal projects. Consistent with a set of rationales developed to preserve environmental quality, these regulations set forth hydrologic and geologic standards designed to protect Iowa's water resources. Minimum requirements have been outlined in the regulations through which the natural favorability of potential landfill sites may be evaluated. Natural favorability is primarily defined in terms of the hydrologic and geologic relationships between a proposed landfill site and those in the locality of the site. The regulations specify that leakage from a landfill to a subcropping aquifer must be less than 0.04 cu ft/day/sq ft at the base of the landfill. This factor is offered to quantify the maximum allowable leakage for all sites in unconsolidated sequences underlain by subcropping bedrock aquifers, Based on groundwater research in Iowa, the assumption is made that 50 feet of till will be sufficient to inhibit the downward flow of liquids from a landfill into bedrock aquifers. This assumes a difference of no greater than 40 feet in hydrostatic head between the water table in the unconsolidated sequence and that in the bedrock aquifer. Owing to the fact that bedrock aquifers in many areas of the state are mantled by less than 50 feet of till the regulations provide for site modification, through engineering, to meet the specified leakage standard, In such instances the leakage factor is evaluated by means of the generalized Darcy's Law Q = PIA where:

The U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA) is currently conducting a national program to survey for uranium the conterminous United States and Alaska by 1980 using airborne and surface techniques. This paper discusses the techniques used and some of the results of airborne surveys conducted to date by Geodata International, Inc. Airborne gamma radiation and the earth's magnetic field data are measured to provide data leading to regions potentially more favorable for the exploration and discovery of uranium ore. High-sensitivity radiometric and magnetic field data have been gathered from an aircraft with an average surface altitude of 400 feet (Figure 1). Under most conditions, data are usable up to an aircraft surface elevation of about 1250 feet where limitations will be discussed. Results of data analysis under GJO-1632, GJ0-1644, GJO-1654 and GJO-1663 will be discussed.

Soda ash, an essential raw material for major industries, such as the glass, chemicals, soap and detergents, pulp and paper, mining and water treatment industries, is traditionally produced by chemical and thermal treatment of trona ore. The treatment processes for trona ore are not only chemically expensive but also energy intensive. Hence, the production of a high-purity trona concentrate at a lower energy and operating cost is of considerable interest to the trona industry. In this study, we describe a possible two-stage process for concentrating trona ore, involving dry magnetic separation followed by flotation, to remove insoluble impurities from the trona ore. The results showed that a trona concentrate of 91.7% purity with a recovery 91.1% can be obtained by two-stage magnetic separation, which could be further improved to 98.1% purity at a recovery of 83.8% by subsequent flotation of the non-magnetic trona product. The purity of trona concentrate is limited by the particle size and impurity content of the trona ore. The operating parameters for magnetic separation and flotation have been identified to obtain an acceptable quality concentrate.

Every underground coal mine in the United States must deploy and operate a wireless communication and electronic tracking system. This paper addresses the reliability and availability of an installed tracking system and the communications infrastructure that supports it. This paper assumes that the tracking system uses the communication system to perform its operation. A particular interest is the requirements for the systems to operate continuously without failure after a mine disaster for 24 hours, and the requirements in the MINER Act for the tracking systems to be “functional, reliable and calculated to be serviceable” and the communications systems “redundancy.” These requirements imply a certain reliability and availability. This paper describes a quantitative way to assess these systems requirements, using tools that are available to and commonly used by the reliability, maintainability and availability community.

To most of you present here the word "refractories" is not new and you are familiar with the materials and use. To many people though the question is asked, "What are refractoriness and what are they used for?" Refractories are non-metallic products which are so resistant too melting at very high temperatures that they can be used for building or lining furnaces of all kinds. A large variation occurs in the size, form, and composition depending on the service for which they are intended. They are made from a wide variety of raw materials, of which fire clay and quartzite are used in largest quantities. Other refractory raw materials include magnesite, chrome, diaspore, bauxite, kyanite, sillimanite, olivine, zircon, and many others. Most of these are assembled from-widely-'separated points in the United States while others come from the far corners of the earth. Chrome is imported from the Philippines and South Africa, and, to a lesser extent, Turkey and Greece Kyanite and sillimanite come: from India and bauxite from the Guianas. And there's "magnesite from brines," produced in chemical plant's by treatment of sea water or inland deep-well brines with hydrated lime. The proportion of magnesia available in sea water is so small, less than one pound from 500 pounds of water,, that millions of gallons must be pumped and processed each day in a sea water magnesite plant. The realm of refractory raw materials, therefore, is very extensive and continues to grow because of the endeavor to find-better raw materials from which to produce better products for refractory service.

Cu-As feedstocks are among the most problematic copper sources that have been avoided over the past years. The high arsenic content of such ores/concentrates combined with their refractory nature have directed the metallurgical industry towards developing efficient technologies for the treatment of high-arsenic copper ores/concentrates. As the most important member of Cu-As-S mineral system, enargite (Cu3AsS4) is frequently encountered in some of the important copper deposits. Several hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes have been examined for the treatment of enargite concentrates, but currently, no commercial operation exists. In an effort to develop an original processing option, an acid bake-leach process has been identified and applied to an enargite concentrate containing ~67% enargite, ~27% pyrite (FeS2), ~3% chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), ~6% sphalerite (ZnS) and <1% galena (PbS). Sulfuric acid baking of this concentrate resulted in the transformation of the concentrate to S8, As2O3, HFe(SO4)2?4H2O, PbSO4 and Cu0.47Fe0.53SO4?H2O, all of which (except elemental sulfur and PbSO4) dissolved during the water leaching step. More than 87% Cu and 64% As were leached when the concentrate was baked at 200°C over 7 h with a sulfuric acid to concentrate weight ratio of 1.6. Less than 1% As was lost to the gas phase. Upon water leaching, copper and arsenic were released to the solution at a concentration ratio of about 3:1. While enargite is very reactive during the sulfuric acid baking reaction, other minerals present in the concentrate such as pyrite, galena, and sphalerite may compete to consume sulfuric acid and be converted into their corresponding sulfates at different levels. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate phase transformations during the acid bake-leach process for the treatment of an enargite concentrate, and to study the effect of sulfuric acid dosage on the extraction of Cu, Fe, and As. In this regard, the concentrate, baked concentrate, and the leach residues are characterized and a conceptual process flowsheet is described for the acid bake-leach process for the treatment of enargite concentrates.
