The demand for high-grade iron ore has increased the importance of beneficiation of low-grade iron ores. The captive mines of Tata Steel Limited, India has reserves of Banded Haematite Jasper (BHJ) ore assayed 40% Fe, 40% SiO2 and <1% Al2O3. QEMSCAN study has revealed haematite and quartz as a major iron bearing and gangue mineral phases respectively. Liberation characteristics have showed 80% liberation can be obtained at particle size below 10µm. In the present study, reverse cationic froth flotation of BHJ using ether diamines is explored in Denver-D12 flotation cell. Polynomial response surface regression equation coupled with six-factor Box-Behnken design of experiments is used to generate the correlation between process separation efficiency and flotation parameters. Flotation studies of BHJ indicated that concentrate of 62% Fe can be achieved with 62% Fe recovery from Jig concentrate at optimum conditions. "The oxidized nickel ores from San Felipe deposit are composed mainly Smectites which gives to the pulps very unfavorable rheological .properties (cinematic viscosity and high shearing strength) for transportation processes (pumping), very low settling velocities and very low thickened pulps. These properties do not allow the preparation of high % solids, which affects the economic efficiency if a high pressure acid leach (HPAL) process is used. Pulps of close to 30% solids have very high BYS making pumping impossible. CIPIMM developed three technologies to solve these problems and to substantially increase the % solids in the pulps to be leached without a thickening step. These technologies are: • CIPIMM 2. At Preparation of pulps using additives. This method is based on the effect of some additives (inorganic salts) to improve the pulp’s properties. The use of this method allows increasing the % solids in the pulp up to 40% with good rheological properties • CIPIMM 2B. Preparation of pulps by thermal treatment of the ore previous to the preparation of the pulps. This method is based on the thermal destruction of the clays structure. Its use allows to obtain pulps with 50 - 60 % solids with excellent rheological characteristics. As a collateral effect, the Ni and Co grades increases by 10 - 15%. • CIPIMM 2C. Pulp preparation by chemical treatment. This method is based on the chemical transformation of clays, to obtain without thickening, pulps with 43- 45% solids and excellent rheological properties. The use of one of the three technologies depends on the chemical and mineralogical composition of the ores and the results of technical-economical evaluations to determine which one is the best alternative before running higher scale tests."

We experimented with slurry which from one of coal preparation plant in Guizhou province and made researches on double hump gradation, one of critical factor of gradation technology, which can influence pulping character in the process of making coal water mixture (CWM). The purpose for it is to find the best particle gradation which can meet the requirements in concentration, viscosity, and stability for CWM. The final result is that the concentration, viscosity, stability of CWM can meet the requirement for industrial use while the rate of fine particle in the slurry is 70%~75% and the maximum concentration of 62%.

In this paper, the producing process of using V2O3 as raw material to obtain vanadium nitride was analyzed through the means of thermodynamic. The analysis shows that conversion follows the principle of reduction step by step in the conversion process of V2O3. The temperature of the reaction system has prominent influence on the nitrogen content of products, and the reaction is very sensitive to temperature. As raising temperature, the fine grain structure of the nitrides is more evident, and the grain size of nitrides increases. At 1703K, the nitrogen content of the products tended to be constant after soaking over 3 hours.

"In mineral comminution circuits, the feed to hydrocyclone consists of a heterogeneous mixture having varied degrees of liberation and sizes leading to the multi-component particle system. The presence of multicomponent particles exhibits a significant change in the classification performance parameters. In this work, a numerical study is conducted with an artificial mixture of magnetite and silica of different proportions having similar particle size distribution to understand the multicomponent interaction in a laboratory scale hydrocyclone. The heterogeneous feed is injected tangentially would attain different settling rates under the influence of centrifugal, drag and turbulent dispersion forces. In this work, Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is used to resolve the continuous phase turbulence. Modified Algebraic Slip Mixture (ASM) model using the corrected Newtonian rheology of fines to simulate multi-density and multi-size particles of the mixture in a hydrocyclone. The influence of the multi-component particles on classification performance is extracted from the simulation in terms of the performance curve, i.e. recovery to underflow, volume fraction distribution and the key forces acting on each particle in the mixture. An interaction was observed between different components during the classification process, featuring accumulation of heavier particle at wall-side pushing the lighter particles into the inner locus of zero vertical velocity (LZVV) zone. The comparison of separation factors of different size particles presented the higher probability of the magnetite of same size reporting to wall region and hence to underflow. Hence, an increased component cut-size with the increased magnetite proportion, particularly a profound effect on lighter density component’s cut-size was observed. INTRODUCTION The multicomponent existence is found in naturally occurring ores, affecting the pure metal extraction, nonetheless also affects the comminution and classification processes. Among many another classifier, hydrocyclone is a vital equipment used vastly in many industries. The main advantages over other classifiers are a static body, low operating cost and maintenance, high throughput, low floor space requirement etc. A typical hydrocyclone consists of a cylindrical section with a central tube connected to a conical section with a discharge tube. The fluid is injected tangentially into hydrocyclone causes swirling and thus generates centrifugal force within the device. The multiphase interaction inside the hydrocyclone is extremely complex and mostly explained by theories based on hypothesis. In past years, many theoretical models were proposed like a balanced orbital model (Criner, 1950), the residence time model (Reitema, 1961) etc. Though these models give an estimation of the cut-size and other performance parameters, it cannot predict the accurate performance of the actual state of operation. Among these models, the balanced orbital theory is the most adapted concept, based on the force balances of the particle in the dual vortex flow of hydrocyclone. The finer particle is subjected to the inward drag force, generated from the outer vortex flow to the air core, and drags the particle towards the overflow. The larger particle with the higher mass have enhanced centrifugal force and falls into primary vortex near wall reporting to the underflow. Generally, the forces acting on the particle include the drag force, centrifugal force, pressure gradient force, added mass force, Saffman lift force, Magnus force and basset force (Kraipech, 2005). The major forces like a drag, centrifugal, pressure gradient are the function of the particle properties like the size and the density. Hence, the existence of the multi-size and the multi-density particle will affect the separation phenomenon, with the varied forces acting on it. "It is suggested that improvement of separation process efficiency in machines and circuits of selective flotation should be based on application of the principle of technology individualization (PIT). This principle is grounded on the following provisions.The mineral composition of ores is used to establish the correlation between the selective reagent mode and the individual value of hydrodynamic conditions of flotation machines together with individual structure of the process flow diagram. The individuality of all sorts of particles identified by methods of process mineralogy was characterized by their distribution according to the rate of flotation (or spectrum). The spectrum identification is carried out by modeling and by experimental and computational method on the data obtained on various types of laboratory flotation machines.The computer-aided test is used to determine the optimal fraction distribution, which reaches the highest possible level of concentration data. The direction of hydrodynamic factors action on concentration data is estimated based on comparison of design base and experimental spectrum. The improvement of separation efficiency in devices is achieved in special-purpose flotation machines (SFM) the design of which provides optimization of hydrodynamic regime in spatially isolated zones. It is demonstrated that the main parameter of SFM operating mode individualization is the rise rate of bubbles going from the chamber into the froth. During this time the composition of particles optimum for separation is formed on its surface. Additionally, it is necessary to coordinate in the zones the residence time of pulp and foam streams with the air consumption. The improvement of separation efficiency in flotation process flow diagrams may be achieved by making several cascades with SFM installed in them. The individual effective structure of the scheme for a definite ores material composition depends on the ratio of particle varieties in the spectrum and is revealed by modeling."

"IsaMill™ has been in operation in the recent past for fine grinding of low grade ores to extract non-ferrous minerals. IsaMill™, typically, consists of a series of uniformly spaced identical disks mounted on a rotating shaft which is encased in an outer shell. The mill offers high energy efficiency for fine grinding and an inherent scalability. But, it encounters certain operational challenges such as non-uniform distribution of grinding media coupled with high wear rate of the disks and solid walls of the mill at specific locations—which adversely affect the mill performance. To circumvent these operational challenges, design modification of the disks through heuristics, by introducing a reduced diameter disk (RDD) at specific locations, is a common practice in industry. But there is no systematic scientific study in this regard. In the current work, we developed a discrete element method (DEM) based model and simulated for the IsaMill™ operation to study the effect of RDD on the efficiency of the mill and wear rate of the solid walls and disks. Since the first set of disks experience the high wear rate due to the high loading of the charge, the RDD was introduced at the first two disks. The simulations were performed at different diameters of the RDDs and at different media loadings. The performance of the mill was analyzed based on the power consumption, the wear rate on disks and the distribution of media particles inside the mill. Besides, the performance variables such as mean velocity of media particles and total impact energy provided useful insights into the milling operation. It was observed that the reduction in disk diameter yields lower wear rate of the disks at the cost of decrease in power draw at a constant high media loading. Whereas, when the media loading was decreased, the amount of wear and power drawn was comparable for both the most reduced and least reduced disk diameters. Therefore, there is an optimum choice of RDD for a given mill loading to maximize the mill performance while reducing the wear rate of the disks."

Water-sealed cyclone is a new efficient equipment to use for grading,concentrating of slurry, it was researched and developed by the Kunming Metallurgy Research Institute in the 1980s , and ac-cessed to the 1990 national invention award and the national patent products (ZL02245313.X ). The equipment and technology are innovative, firstly, we design a set of micro-pressure (0.005~0.008MPa) water-sealed device, which eliminates the gas phase of three-phase of sol-id-liquid-gas of the traditional general hydrocyclone grading process, it only has solid and liquid phases. Secondly, the axial velocity envelope surface which is a factor of controlling the accuracy of grading changes to a wedge rotation; and the interface of upward flow to down flow changes from surface to the solid, it can improve grading accuracy. Thirdly, water-sealed box and catheter devices make the stilling which pass through the cyclone cone centrifugal force fields re-enter the pressure grading zone of catheter. The three innovations make water-sealed cyclone can reduce the loss of overflow and has less mud in stilling product. Because the excellent performance, the water-sealed cyclone has application in non-ferrous metals, ferrous metals, non-metallic and aluminum hydroxide industries for grading, desliming and concentrating since it has successfully developed.

"Multimetal gold-antimony ores are complexed processing products, since they are characterized by veindisseminatedsulfide mineralization with fine-dispersed submicroscopic gold, low content and uneven distribution ofAu, which is concentrated together with iron sulfides (pyrite, arsenopyrite, pyrrhotite). Such ores are classified asrefractory ones and characterized by low gold recovery rates during cyanation. A particular feature of gold-antimonydeposits is the presence of antimony in industrial concentrations therein, along with gold that significantly increasesthe value of these deposits. The main antimony mineral is antimony sulfide - antimonite (stibnite). Gold-antimonyores undergo flotation concentration with producing collective gold-containing concentrates or gold sulfide andantimony concentrates. The purpose of the work is an experimental study of the flotation separation mechanism ofsulfide minerals of copper, antimony and arsenic using tannin-containing modifiers during processing of multimetalgold-bearing ores. During the research it was established that for the selective separation of antimony and arsenicsulfide minerals into concentrates of different kinds, it is possible to use vegetable reagents capable to be selectivelyadsorbed on the arsenopyrite surface. Using the laser KEYENCE VK-9700 and electronic LEO-1420 VP INCA-350microscopy methods, it has been established that the film of a vegetable modifier was not washed off with water andfixed firmly enough on the surface of the polished sections of arsenopyrite. In the X-ray spectrum there are C and Obands related to the reagent structure. The vegetative reagent is fixed both on the pre-adsorbed phase of the collectorand on the areas free from the collector. On the polished sections of antimonite before and after a contact with thetannin solution, only partial adsorbed tannin phases are detected, which disappear as a result of subsequent washingwith water.The reported study was funded by RFBR according to the research project ? 16-05-00646 ?."

This is a brief survey of the technological solutions for deep cleaning of baddeleyite?s concen-trate. Baddeleyite is part of kamaphorite of composite apatite-magnetite ore in alkaline-ultrabasic mountain range of Kola Peninsula. Baddeleyite?s concentrate, which is being produced by Kovdorsky GOK (ore mining and processing enterprise) contains 97.5%~98.5% (Zr?2 + ?f?2) and also scandium oxide (0.05%). It is usually used without any chemical processing. World demand for zirconium oxide is constantly on the rise. Its consumption grows in ceramic industry and in high-tech spheres. That?s why the demand for its purity is very important nowadays (additional cleaning from phosphorus, silicon, iron, aluminium). The mechanism and kinetics of interaction of activated bad-deleyite with sulphuric acid has been studied as well. While applying method of mathematical mod-eling it was confirmed that the mechanical activation is effective for the intensification of sulphation process of baddeleyite?s concentrate with the aim of purifying it from dirt. The use of the calculated optimal regimes allows to reduce such technological operation factors as: temperature, the du-ration of process, the sulphuric acid consumption. It also allows to determine the conditions of anticipatory abstraction of scandium and main dirt in solution in comparison with zirconium oxide.

Micro-fine disseminated molybdenite was ground in a laboratory stirred mill using steel media and zirconium media respectively. The floatability of ground molybdenite and slurry chemistry was investigated. It was found that the total recovery of ground molybdenite using zirconium media was higher while the pH and Eh of the slurry are lower than that using steel media. When steel media was used, iron oxy-hydroxides had been generated coated on the surface of molybdenite, and decreased the floatability of molybdenite, especially of the -10µm particles. The iron and lead oxy-hydroxides was generated by the reaction between steel media with pyrite and galena associated with molybdenite. It was also found that changing the grinding media to inert can benefit the flotation of molybdenite. "Arsenic removal from high arsenic gold concentrate is conducive to increase the mineral value and realize the mineral comprehensive utilization. This study investigated the alkaline pressure oxidation leaching (APOL) of an arsenical gold concentrate in lower temperature to separate the arsenic into filtrate. The effects of temperature, NaOH concentration, solid-liquid ratio, reaction pressure and stirring speed on the leaching efficiency were investigated, and the characteristics of the gold concentrate and leaching residues were evaluated using XRD and SEM analysis methods. The obtained results showed that by using lower temperature (<60?) it is possible to avoid the production of elemental sulfur during the leaching process, which is benefit for the oxidation of arsenopyrite; When the reaction was carried out under appropriate conditions, more than 98% of the arsenic will be extracted into the filtrate as the form of arsenate or thioarsenate. INTRODUCTION In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the recovery of gold from refractory arsenical gold ore. The arsenic in this kind of ore usually exists as the form of arsenopyrite, and the gold surrounded by arsenopyrite exists as the form of fine particles, which will give many difficulties to metallurgical work. When the content of arsenic in the gold ore is more than 0.5%, it will seriously penalize the smelting efficiency (Ruiz et al., 2014). So pretreatment of the refractory gold ore is necessary to obtain the largest economic value and environmental benefits (Balaz et al., 2000). The oxidation pretreatment processes mainly include roasting oxidation, pressure oxidation, chemical treatment and biological treatment (Ann et al., 1992; Kou and Chen, 2012; Tongamp et al., 2010; Fernandez et al., 1995; Lin and Zheng, 1996). Among them, the roasting oxidation and pressure oxidation are the more ordinary processes in industry. The roasting oxidation process is the mature and adaptable technology, but the production of waste gas containing sulfur and arsenic will pollute the environment. The pressure oxidation method possesses certain metallurgical and environmental advantages, and can efficiently decompose the mineral. According to the different solution media, the pretreatment can be divided into alkaline and acidic pressure leaching pretreatments (Papangelakis and Demopoulos, 1990; Hiskey and Sanchez, 1995). The acidic pressure oxidation method has been used in most smelting plants for high arsenic gold ore pretreatment, while the alkaline pressure oxidation is still not widely applied. Compared with the acidic pressure oxidation, the alkaline pressure oxidation can be realized under lower temperatures."

"The use of PM40N, a specialty precious metals promoter in conjunction with a standard Xanthate based collector was extensively investigated in the flotation of a complex, silver-bearing, lead-zinc ore containing naturally occurring graphitic gangue. The ore, considered difficult to treat with conventional reagents, was tested at plant scale to determine the impact of the promoter on silver recovery, lead grade and also on the amount of zinc misplaced to the final lead concentrate.Initial laboratory-scale rougher flotation testing implied significant improvements in the recovery of silver and lead with a marginal amount of zinc displaced. Subsequent mini pilot flotation tests further revealed that a gain in selectivity and recovery could be achieved by adjusting PM40N promoter dosage and incorporating a cleaner flotation step, further improving rejection of sphalerite. Plant trials resulted in an improvement of 3% in Silver recovery coupled with a 2% increase in recovered lead whilst maintaining lead grade in the lead circuit.To date, the use of PM40N as a promoter has enabled the processing operation to significantly increase its plant economics. The partial replacement of the standard Xanthate based collector has also reduced the overall quantity of Xanthate required in the standard circuit by approximately 10% - which is a positive impact on the environment. It is envisaged that further optimization of plant parameters will favor stable operation and continue to boost revenues generated by subsequent improvements in silver metallurgy."

The molybdenum ores currently utilized in China are mostly molybdenum sulfide ores, whereas oxidized molybdenum ores have not been exploited and utilized efficiently. The aim of this article is to study the applied mineralogy of an intergrown iron-molybdenum oxidized ore in order to provide a mineralogical basis for the ore beneficiation research. The ore occurred in a surface oxidized zone seam and contained 23.65% Fe2O3 and 1.58% Mo. Various characterization techniques were employed to study the chemical composition and mineral composition of the ore, the particle size distribution of the minerals in the ore, and the tex-ture and structure of the ore. The results showed that the iron-molybdenum ore occurred in a wet, soft and earthy state. The ore was composed mainly of several oxidized minerals and colloidal min-erals, including wulfenite, barite, limonite and quartz. Wulfenite was one of the major and stable components in the ore and occurred as a separate mineral. Wulfenite, barite and quartz were granu-lar minerals with particle size ranging from fine to coarse but mainly in the fine particle range. Li-monite showed a crust and honeycomb-like colloidal state and composed the framework in the ore for the formation of the other minerals. They filled the pores in the framework and the size of the pores affected the size of the minerals formed in the pores and hence the recovery of wulfenite in ore beneficiation. According to the applied mineralogical properties of the oxidized molybdenum ore, a promising ore beneficiation process was proposed as follow Magnetic separation should be carried out first to separate the magnetic iron minerals and then the molybdenum mineral will be recovered by gravity concentration or a combination process of gravity concentration and flotation, depending on the distribution of the molybdenum mineral in the product of the magnetic separation.

Annually it is formed more than 95 Mt of clinkers in iron and steel industry of Russia, including 79 Mt of clinkers in blast-furnace, steelmaking, foundry and ferroalloy productions. Complex development of clinkers will provide not only extraction of valuable components, but also preservation of ecosystems. Processing of solid slags is realized, as a rule, in a cold condition by mechanical methods only including stage-by-stage crushing of slag on devices, working on principles of compression and shift (jaw and roll crushers). However it doesn?t provide the complete extraction of metals from clinkers. The intensification of decomposition, in our opinion, can be provided under the use of the devices working on a principle of free kick. At such influence on a material, its destruction occurs on micro cracks, sides of cohesion that is there is a selective destruction of the components possessing various resistances to impact. Decomposition of a piece on the basis of free kick about a material or metal is realized in centrifugal-shock crushers and mills of research-and-production association ?Ural Center?. The share of the joints sharply lowering the efficiency of enrichment thus is minimal. The efficiency of application is proved by morph-metrical measurements with the help of system of image analysis ?SIAMS-600? and physical-mechanical tests of clinkers and their components (impact strength, micro hardness). The experience of application the devices of centrifugal-shock crushing for processing clinkers in blast-furnace, martin and converter productions of Open Society MMC, clinkers of rough-edged copper melt of Joint-Stock Company "Karabashmed" and aluminium clinkers of Joint-Stock Company « Samara plant of aluminium alloys » has allowed to confirm the efficiency of application these devices for selective decomposition of metallurgical clinkers and the opportunity of using clinkers as resource of ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy.

"The smelter slags represented silicate crystalline rock with medium to coarse-grained structure with spinifex skeletal network of olivine in hedenbergite matrix. Accessory magnetite, pyrrhotite and copper sulfides chalcopyrite, bornite, covellite, chalcocite and digenite occurred in dissemination in silicate matrix. The sample was studied by optical and electron microscopy with support of quantitative XRD. Modal mineralogical composition included olivine, pyroxene, magnetite, chalcopyrite, quartz, pyrrhotite. Copper deportment showed copper distributed in chalcopyrite (40 %), cuprite (22 %), covellite (21 %), bornite, chalcocite, digenite (5 %), Cu-bearing pyrrhotite (4 %) and spinel (2%). Liberation of copper minerals in the material ground to P80=71 µm was good with over 90 % sulfides in free grains and floatable binaries. The results showed theoretical possibility of 65 % copper recovery by flotation. Conclusion based on mineralogical data was precisely confirmed with flotation tests studies that proved to recover around 60 % of copper to commercial grade concentrate. INTRODUCTION Annual world copper matte smelter slags production is estimated to be millions of tones and contain thousands tones of unrecovered Cu, Zn and significant amounts of Ag and Au. Mineralogical study of one large processing sample of material of historical piles of Cu matte smelter slag was carried out to find possibility to recover copper and define theoretical recovery by flotation. The study of the slag material was aimed to determine possibility of upgrading the material on existing copper flotation plant to develop additional mineral resources. The objectives for mineralogical investigation were to target for best liberation fineness, determine theoretical recovery and possible concentrate quality for sulfide flotation tests. MATERIALS AND METHODS Large representative processing sample was collected by mixing of 120 t of slag material representatively excavated from historical piles of Cu matte smelter slag. The sample was used to define the processing technology to recover copper and gold from the material."

Different methods of utilizing refractory bauxite and disposing red mud are practiced throughout the world, but none of them are known to be environmentally innocuous due to the complexity and /or high cost, and none has been found to be feasible on an industrial scale. Under these conditions, the use of bioleaching process seems promising. The present study emphasizes on the isolation of native extremophiles from the source Indian bauxite and red mud, with their detailed cellular and physio-chemical, and biochemical characterization. These organisms were tested for their ability to thrive in physically or geochemically extreme conditions. The gram positive capsule rich mesophiles and thermophiles were tested for removal of gangue minerals from the bauxite and red mud samples. "The flexibility of the PlantStar control platform has enabled Mintek to investigate and easily develop new control strategies for both milling and flotation. This includes a Solids Feed Controller, a Safety Limit Controller, Mill Power Optimiser and Flotation Optimiser, amongst others.The solids feed controller was developed for minerals processing plants using a specialised time delay compensator. Using conventional time delay compensators that are purely model based, results in robustness problems due to model uncertainties. The Mintek Solid Feeds Controller makes use of a plant model, but compensates for model inaccuracies, giving more controller stability and a more robust delay compensation algorithm.The safety limit controller has been developed to switch smoothly between normal and safety control loops without bumping the process. The safety loop output is chosen in accordance with a predefined list of priorities and whether the respective constraint boundaries are exceeded.The Mill Power Optimiser helps to find the power peak on the mill power curve. This insures maximum grind with maximum throughput. It also prevents power dips due to mill overloads, making the milling circuit easier to operate.The flotation optimiser algorithm analyses trends of all accessible variables in the process. The algorithm uses this information to calculate operating conditions that will control the residence times, mass pulls and circulating loads within a flotation circuit to a specified setpoint. Research is being done to now optimise these setpoints in order to achieve better recovery."

An attempt has been made to carry out qualitative assessment of mine water discharges from the different mines of West Bokaro Coalfields of Hazaribag district of Jharkhand, India. A total of 33 mine water samples were analyzed for pH, electrical conductivity (EC), major cations (Ca, Mg, Na, K), major anions (HCO3, SO4, Cl, NO3), and heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr, Ni, Co, As). The hydrochemical data has been evaluated in terms of major ion chemistry, solute acquisition processes and suitability of mine water for domestic, industrial and irrigation uses. The pH of the analyzed mine waters varies from 5.27?8.43 indicating acidic to alkaline nature of the water. The electrical conductivity (EC) values varied from 276 µScm-1 to 1598 µScm-1 for measured samples and spatial differences between the EC values reflects the wide variation in lithology, surface activities and hydrological regime prevailing in the region. The anion chemistry of the analyzed water samples shows the dominance of SO4 and HCO3 with a minor contribution from Cl, NO3 and F. The observed high values of sulphate in the mine water of the area may be attributed to the oxidative weathering of pyrites. On average chloride is contributing 5% of the total anionic balance (TZ-). Fluoride and nitrate have low concentrations and on average contributing <2% the total anions. The cation chemistry indicates that 79% of the samples are Ca>Mg>Na>K, while the 6% belong to Ca>Na>Mg>K and 1% of Ca>Mg>K>Na. Weathering of rock forming minerals and cation exchange processes normally control the levels of these cations. Concentrations of some heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Ni, Cr) are found to be well above the prescribed permissible levels recommended for the drinking water. The water quality assessment for drinking purposes indicates that most of the mine water having high TDS, total hardness (TH) and sulphate concentrations. This suggests that mine water of the study area is not suitable for direct use in drinking and domestic purposes and needs a proper treatment before its utilization. The assessment of water for irrigation uses show that the water is good to permissible quality and can be used for irrigation uses. However, high values of salinity, %Na, SAR, RSC and Mg-hazard at certain sites restrict its suitability for agriculture uses.
