By executive order of the President, dated June 25, 1918, the investigation of matters relating to gas warfare, which had been initiated by the Director of the U. S. Bureau of Mines early in 1917, and had been continuously maintained and improved since, that time, was transferred to the recently created Division of Gas Warfare of the War Department. On the occasion of this transfer, both the President and the Secretary of War took occasion to speak most highly of the efficient service that had been rendered by the Bureau of Mines. It gives us great pleasure to reproduce here a letter from the President and from the Secretary of War, bearing on this subject and also to append a brief review of the work of the Bureau of Mines, prepared by its Director, Mr. Van H. Manning. The White House, Washington. June 26, 1918. MY DEAR MR. MANNING: I have had before me for some days the-question presented by the Secretary of War involving the transfer of the chemical section established by you at the American University from the Bureau of Mines to the newly organized Division-of Gas Warfare in which the War Department is now concentrating all the various facilities for offensive and defensive gas operations. I am satisfied that a more efficient organization can he effected by having these various activities under one direction and control, and my hesitation about acting in the matter has grown only out of a reluctance to take away from the Bureau of Mines a piece of work which thus far it has so effectively performed. The Secretary of War has assured me of his own recognition of the splendid work you have been able to do, and I am taking the liberty of enclosing a letter which I have received from him, in order that you may-see how fully the War Department recognizes the value of the services. I am to-day signing the order directing the transfer. I want, however, to express to you my own-appreciation of the fine and helpful piece of work which you-have-done, and to. say that this sort of team work by the bureaus outside of the direct war-making agency is one of the cheering and gratifying evidences of the way our official forces are inspired by the presence of a great national task. PRESIDENT: In connection with the proposed transfer of the chemical section at. American University from the Bureau of Mines to the newly constituted and consolidated Gas Service of the War Department, which you are considering, I am specially concerned to have you know how much the War Department appreciates the splendid services which have been rendered to the country and to the Army by the Department of the Interior, and especially by the Bureau of Mines under the direction of Dr. Manning. In the early days of preparation and organization, Dr. Manning's contact with scientific men throughout the country was indispensably valuable. He was able to summon from the universities and the technical laboratories of the country men of the highest quality and to inspire them with enthusiastic zeal in attacking new and difficult problems which had to be solved with the utmost speed. I do not see how the work could have been better done than he did it, and the present suggestion that the section now pass under the direction and control of the War Department grows out of the fact that the whole subject of gas warfare has assumed a fresh pressure and intensity, and the director of it must have the widest control so as to be able to use the resources at his command in the most effective way possible. The proposal does not involve the disruption of the fine group of scientific men Dr. Manning has brought together, but merely their transfer to General Sibert's direction. The object of this communication is to give a description of some remarkable spheroidal specimens of anthracite coal recently encountered in stripping the Mammoth seam at Milnesville, Luzerne county, Pa. Somewhat similar forms of coal, occurring in France and in Australia, have been described already. In vol. xxxvii. (1888) of the Transactions of the North of England Institute of Mining and Mechanical Engineers, under the title "Coal Nodules from the Borehole Seam at Newcastle, New South Wales," Mr. T. E. Forster describes and illustrates, with two plates of specimens, a series of " nodular " forms of anthracite coal taken from a depth of 300 feet beneath the town of Newcastle, and possessing the following characteristics : The lines of cleavage of the coal-seam are more or less curved, giving a rouuded appearance to the blocks. Dikes of intrusive dolerite intersect the coal, and the coal-nodules occur with with greatest frequency where the seam is most disturbed. They are easily separated from the surrounding coal. "The seam at this point is remarkable, not only for its splendid proportions but also for its extremely bright and rich appearance, which gives the working-places x strong resemblance to those in the Pennsylvania anthracite mines.....The cleavage of the coal is, in some park of the pit, noticeable for a series of small impressions or concavities about the size of, and resembling roughly in shape, a mussel-shell raised vertically on its longest edge.....To some extent the nodules appear to have a more or less concretionary structure, and to be, roughly speaking, composed of several concentric layers, through which the ordinary cleavage of the coal passes, while in others thin layers may be observed, resembling the coats of an onion!' CADWALLADER EVANS JR. has long been a leading figure in the anthracite mining industry and one of Pennsylvania's prominent citizens. He is, in fact, a native son, having been horn in Pittsburgh on Sept. 17, 1880. At Lehigh, from which he graduated in 1901 with the degree of Mechanical Engineer, Tom Girdler was a classmate, and both were active in football affairs. Going hack to Pittsburgh, he got his first job as trouble shooter for the Oliver Iron & Steel Co. A year later he entered the coal industry, getting a job with the Blaine Coal Co. as inspector of construction and later was superintendent of the Blaine mine at Elizabeth. Pa.

As can be seen from the phase diagram A1-W1 the equilibrium solubility of tungsten in aluminum is practically nil at room temperature. By quenching from the liquid state (50,000°C per sec), Varic, Burov, and Kolesnicenko2 obtained A1-W solid solutions up to 0.15 at. pct W. The quenched alloys were in the form of foils, 0.2 to 0.3 mm thick. Considering the results of Duwez and Willens,3 it is obvious that this thickness, which makes impossible a sufficiently rapid quenching, was the main reason for the relatively low content of tungsten dissolved in aluminum found by varic.2 he present note shows that the metastable solubility of tungsten in aluminum can be appreciably extended in aluminum-rich A1-W alloys. The quenching technique and the procedure employed for the preparation of the alloys have been described previously.475 The resulting quenched flakes varied in thickness from 1 to 20 µm from experiment to experiment. However, the measurements of the lattice parameters were carried out only with flakes thinner than 5 µm. The areas of quenched flakes were between 0.1 and 15 mm2. The quenched flakes were placed into a 0.3-mm glass capillary tube which was then mounted in a 114.6-mm-diam Debye-Scherrer camera. Straumanis asymmetric film position and nickel-filtered CuKa radiation were used. The lattice spacings were computed taking X(CuKa1) = 1.54050A for resolved and ?(CuKa) = 1.54178A for unresolved doublets. All specimens were rotated at room temperature, 26o +2°C. The lattice parameters were estimated from extrapolation against the Nelson-Riley function. It was estimated that the error in the lattice parameter of the measurements on a single film lies within +0.0004A for lower and about +0.001A for higher concentrations of tungsten. The lattice parameters of the metastable solid solutions A1-W are plotted vs the concentration of tungsten in Fig. 1 together with the parameters measured by previous investigators.' Each point of the present measurements represents a determination of the lattice spacing on different quenched flakes, for a given concentration of tungsten. With experimental accuracy, the lattice parameters of the metastable solid solutions fall on the straight line passing through the already known data.' As estimated from the uncertainties in the lattice spacings of the solid solutions, the alloys were homogeneous within 0.1 at. pct W. The solubility of tungsten in aluminum-rich A1-W solid solutions obtained by a very rapid quenching technique is increased to about 0.95 at. pct W. This value is 6 times greater than the amount known up to now. -he lattice parameters of the resultant aluminum solid solutions with higher concentrations of tungsten than 0.95 at. pct W did not remain constant AUGER electron spectroscopy has been used to clarify the role of impurities in the embrittlement of AISI 3340 steel. Analysis of fracture surfaces has shown that the embrittled condition is correlated with appreciable antimony segregation at grain boundaries. The low temperature (400" to 600°C) temper embrittlement of low alloy steels containing various combinations of Cr , Ni , Sb , Mn , P , Sn , and As has been examined extensively for many years. General reviews of the area have been made by McMahon1 in 1968, LOW' in 1959, woodfine3 in 1953, and Holloman4 in 1946. The best currently available description of the longitudinal mixing properties of a porous medium is an equation of the form which relates the effective longitudinal dispersion coefficient Dp to the molecular diffusion coefficient Do, the electrical resistivity factor F, the porosity <f> and a Peclet number. If the parameters dpa and m are determined for a porous medium of known porosity and electrical resistivity factor, then a dispersion coefficient may be estimated for a given flow rate and a given gas pair. A new method, featuring on-line gas analysis by thermal conductivity and on-line data reduction by analog computation, was developed and used to determine these mixing parameters for eight naturally occurring sandstones and two dolomite samples. The exponent m of the above equation was found to vary between 1.0 and 1.5. The characteristic length dpa in the above equation was found to vary between 0.25 and 1.9 cm, with an average value of 0.4 cm for sandstones. Measurements were made on two cores in which paraffin wax had been deposited by evaporation from a pentane solution. They indicated that the presence of an immobile phase such as connate water could increase the dispersion coefficients significantly. INTRODUCTION While the petroleum and chemical industries have studied the mixing of miscible liquids flowing in consolidated porous media and of miscible gases flowing in unconsolidated porous media, relatively little data have been presented to describe the mixing of gases flowing through consolidated porous media. Such data are of particular interest to the gas storage industry. For instance, the U. S. Bureau of Mines is storing large quantities of a rich helium-nitrogen gas in contact with a natural gas in a dolomite reservoir. Since the rich gas occupies only 15 percent of the total reservoir volume, it is essential that the extent of rich gas-natural gas mixing be predicted and understood as a function of rock properties, pressure and rate of movement. This investigation was concerned only with the determination of longitudinal dispersion coefficients. It is understood that a transverse dispersion coefficient, which characterizes mixing perpendicular to the direction of flow, may be an order of magnitude less than the coefficient characterizing mixing in the direction of bulk flow.5719 It should also be recognized that the use of any dispersion coefficient is in itself a simplification. It is necessary to assume that mixing in a porous medium may be characterized by the equation for flow in a single direction. A number of authors1 l8,19 have pursued the mixing problem, not in terms of the so-called "dispersion model" described by Eq. 1, but in terms of a "mixing cell model". This model supposes that a porous medium is constructed of a large number of small mixing chambers and that the concentration of the diffusing component within each mixing chamber is uniform. Fick&apos;s law (Eq. 1) assumes that there is no gross by-passing of one fluid by another, and that there are not stagnant pockets of gas in the system under consideration as discussed by Coats and Smith.8 These assumptions are not always valid for flow through porous media and it is important to recognize the limitations upon Eq. 1. Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company is currently mining in four pit areas; Live Oak, Red Hill, Thornton and Joe Bush Extension, near Globe, Arizona. Small satellite orebodies lying outside the main pits have been mined out in a series of small open pits. Major slope instability has affected production in every pit. Some consequences of the instability have been; (1) Serious interruption of mining plans, which resulted in deferred ore production, lost ore, reduced mining rates and increased stripping requirements. (2) Forced replacement of crushing facilities. (3) Serious effects on other production facilities. The introduction of a slope stability monitoring and control function as an integral part of mine planning has been successful in reducing the impact of these failures and will eventually result in economic pit design based on probabilistic slope analysis. This case history presents a brief review of the problems associated with slope instability at Inspiration&apos;s mines followed by a more detailed report on one specific failure area in the Thornton pit where the use of horizontal drain holes for slope stabilization appears to be successful. Relationships between slope movement rate, rainfall, and mining activity are shown.

WE can, I think, rightfully claim, irrespective of our faults, that engineers must, in order to last as engineers, possess the qualifications of integrity, stead- fastness of purpose, ability to think straight, and to apply these qualities consistently and continually in their everyday work. All engineers know this, most of them conform, and in order to drive it home I might, if &apos;clothed with proper authority, preach to you at length, but I shall not take the chance. So I only want to make a suggestion or two to the young engineers. Have an ideal and work toward it. You will have your disappointments and your temptations but keep your record clean, and if anyone says you are foolish or ugly, or homely, or that you need a guardian, take the criticism with a smile, for he may be able to prove his contention; but if he attacks your integrity, strike at once and fight hard, for he has assailed not only your character but your principal asset as an engineer.

Resistance was measured as a function of temperature, 77° to 350°K,for niobium with hydrogen concentrations up to 3.76 at. pct. Cooling curves exhibited a discontinuity in slope that was attributed to the initiation of hydride formation. A thermal hysteresis was explained in terms of diffusion and the effects of mechanical constraint on nucleation and growth. The heat of solution of hydrogen in saturated Nb-H solid solution was 2. 737 * 0.045 kcal per g-atom, including an unknown stress contribution. The critical ternperatures for hydride formation during cooling and for embrittlement are correlated but not coincident. This, too, has been explained in terms of mechanical constraint and stress-itlduced tratzsfomtation. Nb-H alloys undergo a ductile-brittle transition with decreasing temperature.&apos;-3 Similar behavior has been noted for v-H.1,5 For the latter system, there is evi-dence6 suggesting coincidence of the temperature of minimum ductility and the critical temperature T, for initiation of metal hydride precipitation during cooling. A decrease in ductility due to the presence of brittle hydride particles is readily explainable. The fact that ductility begins to decrease at some temperature higher than T,4,5 has led us6 to suggest that precipitation may be strain-induced locally during tensile testing. Wood and Daniels&apos; have reported that a plot of temperatures for 10 pct reduction in ductility vs hydrogen concentration in niobium is not coincident with, but parallels, the solvus.7,8 They believe this indicates a correlation of precipitation and embrittlement. Unfortunately, the two reported solvuses 7,8 to which Wood and Daniels refer are not in agreement with each other. Furthermore, neither solvus was determined experimentally: each was a plot of calculated solubilities. Thus. neither is highly dependable for determining whether embrittlement coincides with initiation of hydride precipitation. Longson 9 studied phase relations in the Nb-H system between 77° and 473°K by dilatometry. Comparison with metallographic observations convinced him that discontinuities in the slopes of his dilatometric plots were coincident with the initiation of hydride precipitation. Plotting the logarithm of the hydrogen concentration vs the reciprocal of the temperature at which precipitation was initiated during cooling, he obtained a straight line shown in Fig. 1. Walter and chandler,&apos;&apos; using X-ray techniques to detect the for mation of a second phase? have obtained three experimental points in the temperature range 295° to 338°K which fall within Longson&apos;s experimental error for this plot. A similar plotg of temperatures at which dissolution was completed during heating was a parallel line shifted toward higher temperatures. A straight-line plot was obtained, also, for the temperatures of the ductile-brittle transitions,9 but it was shifted toward still higher temperatures. Longson calculated an activation energy of 2.980 * 0.300 kcal per mole for the hydrogen embrittlement mechanism, compared with 3.180 * 0.400 kcal per mole for hydride formation. Despite this agreement, he concluded, "It seems unlikely that embrittlement results from hydride formation..." because hydrogen embrittlement was observed at temperatures above the solvus. It is our contention that embrittlement is correlated with precipitation of the hydride.6 Because only Longson has investigated Nb-H phase relations at sub-ambient temperatures, we deemed it advisable to re-determine the temperature dependence of the solubility using the resistometric technique already proven successful for the V-H system.6 Coincidence of our solvus with temperatures for embrittlement would

(communication to the Secretary): Mr. Spurr calls attention to the fact that an ore-deposit may be due to a succession of concentrations at different geological epochs. He cites an example of such a condition on Napoleon creek, a branch of Forty-Mile creek, Alaska. It will perhaps be of interest to call attention to another example of the same general character, not so remotely situated. The example referred to is located on Pole creek, a tributary of Cherry creek, in the extreme northeastern part of Madison county, Montana. An excellent geological map of this region is to be found in the Three Forks folio (No. 24) of the United States Geological Survey. According to this map, Pole creek, in its upper course, occupies the contact between the " Flathead " formation, which Peale correlates with the Middle and Lower Cambrian, and an area of gneisses and schists supposed

Mica is an orchid among minerals. It is formed in pegmatites, one of the most bizarre of igneous formations, and is exceeded by few other minerals in the perfection it may attain as to size, color, and cleavage. First used for window glazing, as an ornament and article of trade, it has become one of the most essential insulators of electricity, heat, and shock. Most internal combustion engines use mica condensers or capacitors and such machines of war as planes, tanks, and submarines are immobile without it. The original manuscript of this guide was written in April 1943 at the peak of war emergency. It was not used be- cause shortly thereafter a decision was made to buy on a one price basis eliminating differentials for both quality and size. This is now presented with the thought that from the standpoint of preparedness we can only consider an- other war imminent and every effort should he made to set up in usable form the experience gained during the Second World War. Colonial Mica Corp. was set up by Metals Reserve Co. as a wholly owned government agency to encourage production of domestic mica and to purchase it. It soon became the exclusive buying agency for such mica. The writer as Southern Manager called on all the private agencies buying mica to assist in formulating buying policies, methods, and prices.

The ores received at the Washoe Smelter come almost entirely from the mines in Butte and contain the following minerals : Chalcocite, Cu2S; covellite, CuS; chalcopyrite, CuFeS2, (trace); bornite, Cu3FeS3; enargite, Cu3AsS4; malachite, Cu2CO4 + H2O (trace); pyrite, FeS2; sphalerite, ZnS; rhodo-chrosite, MnCO3, (less than 1 per cent.); rhodonite, MnSiO3, (less than I per cent.). The country-rock of Butte is of the granite family and is a quartz-monzonite containing a little less silica than typical granite. It is made up of the following rock-minerals in approximately the proportions indicated: Minerals. Composition. Per Cent. The orientation relationships resulting from allotropic transformations and the formation of segregate structures in metals and alloys have been the subject of the eight earlier papers in this series&apos;. A brief summary of orientation studies has also been given by Sachs2. A survey of these papers discloses that the factors that determine the orientation relationship of a precipitated phase to its parent solid solution, as well as the outward form and appearance of the new phase, are not completely understood. It is now evident that crystallographically analogous systems, as a rule, exhibit the same type of Widmanstatten figure and orientation relations, so that useful information is not to be expected from examination of a new alloy involving lattice combinations of which the orientation relationships are already known. Therefore, the determination of the relations existing between lattice types that have not already been studied seems to be the most promising mode of attack upon the problem; both of the systems reported in this paper represent new combinations of lattice types. A. The Mg-Mg2Sn System The magnesium-tin equilibrium diagram given by Hansen3 shows the phase Mg2Sn to be the only intermediate phase. The solid solubility of Sn in Mg decreases from 14.8 weight per cent at the eutectic temperature, 561&apos; C., to 2.3 per cent at 450°, while no solid solubility of Mg in Mg2Sn has been observed. The crystal structur: of Mg is close-packed hexagonal with a0 = 3.202 A. and co = 5.199 A.4, while Mg2Sn is of the CaF2 type with a. = 6.78 A., with four molecules in a unit ce115,6. Alloys from two different sources have been used: (1) those supplied by the Dow Chemical Co., which contain 6 and 8 weight per cent Sn, and (2) those prepared in this laboratory, containing 8 and 13.5 per cent Sn. The use of axis charts for representing the texture of cold-rolled thorium sheet was compared with conventional pole figures. Four texture components were deduced from the axis charts and shown to be consistent with the pole figures. It was shown that consideration of the pole figures alone could lead to an apparent component which is the average of two actually present. It was also shown that the spread about the "ideal" textures and the amount of material associated with each could be readily obtained Fom the axis chart method. BECAUSE of the crystallographic nature of the deformation mechanisms in metals, plastic flow results in the alignment of certain crystallographic directions with the primary flow directions. In the study of the "preferred orientation" thus developed, one wishes to discern the distribution of the crystallographic directions with respect to some reference direction, usually a direction related to the fabrication procedure, such as the rolling direction. The pole-figure method, introduced by ever,&apos; involves the plotting of the distribution of the poles of some family of planes on a stereographic projection which places the reference direction(s) at the north pole and/or in the center. By noting the angles between the reference directions and concentrations of poles on several such pole figures, one can deduce the crystallographic directions which are aligned with the reference directions. If the preferred orientation is relatively simple and well-developed, one to three pole figures may be sufficient for obtaining the desired information; if there are several texture components, more pole figures may be needed. A significant improvement in the method of representing the textures in wires and rods resulted from the introduction of the "inverse pole figure" or axis-distribution chart by Harris.2 Such a chart gives directly the distribution of the reference axis relative to the standard stereographic projection. There has been widespread acceptance of this method for the representation of fiber textures, and methods have been proposed for converting observed diffraction intensities into axis densities.2-6 The suggestion by Mitchell and Rowland3 and Jetter, McHargue, and williams5 that sheet textures could be represented as distributions of rolling, normal, and transverse directions have been criticized on the basis that they offer no significant advantage over a combination of two ordinary pole figures and that it has not been proved that sheet textures can be treated as quasi fiber textures.6 If the purpose of a texture determination is to study some property which is related to the orientation of a particular crystallographic plane or direction, then conventional pole figures certainly are sufficient. For example, the distribution of the slip planes in face-centered cubic metals (the (111) pole figure) serves to indicate the variation in mechanical properties of sheet. On the other hand if the study is directed at an understanding of the factors influencing texture formation, it is desirable to know not only the preferred orientation but the kind and degree of spread from it and the relative amounts of material in each component, if there are more than one. GEOGRAPHICAILY the industry of reducing and refining of copper continued to migrate from the .United States during 1931. While this country is losing the predominant position of its copper industry, our engineers still enjoy their pre-eminent position as leaders in the design and operation of the new plants being brought into production in the four quarters of the globe. Progress in the art, as indicated by the construction of the recently completed works, has not been revolutionary. Standard methods have been followed, augmented by novel features in flow-sheets demanded by the results of progress in the art of ore-dressing, and by reason of problems incidental to the peculiarities of the new ores being treated. Design and construction progress has likewise been orderly and without radical departure from less recent practice; new features in primary and secondary equipment being logical developments to provide for special conditions to keep abreast of improve¬ments in accessory apparatus. The new plants are being rapidly brought in without hazardous novelties and for the purpose of yielding the principal ingredient, copper, in as large a volume as it will he possible to market; the old United States procedure. In the meantime the domestic plants are shut down or operating at a very low capacity, threatened with untimely demise unless the metallurgist can extract and develop other valuable products from the ores. International agreements .and tariff protection may be a temporary reviving stimulant, but for many mines the days of profit will be numbered unless the ores can be made to yield as values the ingredients now being discarded. Invisible progress in this direction has been made during the past year, and it is to he hoped that time will prove that the outstanding progress of 1931 was in the development of processes for the ultimate recovery of by-products from copper ores, perhaps even relegating the value of the copper yield to secondary importance.

According to the June 27 issue of Business Week, Rep. Kearns (R., Pa.) introduced a bill in Congress along lines suggested by the National Society of Professional Engineers, to amend the Taft-Hartley Act to permit scientific, technical, and professional groups to discuss wages, hours, and working conditions with management-with the protection and support of the federal law. The article reports that the bill is opposed by a loosely knit group of professional and technical unions, the Engineers & Scientists of America. This group wants Taft-Hartley amended to make it an unfair labor practice for employers to discuss collective bargaining matters with professional organizations.

W. S. GRESLEY, Erie, Pa.: Mr. Henrich&apos;s Fig. 1 and reference thereto remind me of a section of sand, gravel, clay, etc., which I sketched near Hellesylt on Stor Fjord, Norway, some years ago. Vertical Section of Glacial Morainic Material, containing Angular Masses of Banded Sand. Observed June 29, 1887, about 14 English miles south of Hellesylt, at head of Stor Fjord, near Aalesund, Norway. The accompanying figure reproduces my sketch. It was the angular and tilted blocks of sand in this glacial débris, or moraine, that particularly attracted my notice. THE great development of the mines and metallurgical works of this country during the last few years, accompanied as it has been by the investment of enormous sums of money in purchasing lands, and in the erection of improvements, requires that advantage should be taken of the accumulated knowledge of engineers, superintendents, and&apos; others, in mastering &he problems which are constantly presenting themselves for our action. Among those may be mentioned the consideration of more economical systems of mining in our coal and metal-liferous mines, improved methods of transportation above and below ground, unwatering and ventilating mines, the mechanical preparation of coal and other minerals, the various metallurgical processes, and, in fact, every question tending to the attainment of two great objects : 1st. The more economical production of the useful minerals and metals. 2d. The greater safety and welfare of those employed in these industries. In European countries, where the arts of mining and metallurgy have long been the subject of the most careful study, no means have been found so effectual in attaining the end above proposed as the free interchange of experience among those actually engaged in these industries, and this object has been accomplished, mainly, through the medium of institutes, associations or societies, composed of those engaged in these occupations, and by the periodical publication of essays or papers, communicated to such societies by their members. I t must be evident to all practical men that the interchange of the varied experience of those engaged in such occupation in this country could not fail to advance very materially the desired objects; it is, therefore, proposed to establish an American Institute of Mining Engineers, which will hold its meetings periodically in the great mining and metallurgical centers, where works of interest, such as mines, machine shops, furnaces, and other metallurgical works, can be inspected, and the members exchange their views, and consult for mutual advantage upon the difficulties encountered by each; these transactions or proceedings, when published, would form a most valuable and greatly-needed addition to our professional literature. I t is proposed that a meeting of those sympathizing with the object above mentioned shall be called for the purpose of organizing such an association, the place and time of meeting being Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and the month of April or May. Communications indicating the opinion and wishes of all, both as to these points, and also as to the organization and objects of the Institute, will be gladly received by any of the undersigned, and a notice of the date of meeting, which will be arranged to suit the greater number, will be duly communicated.
