Comb-layered textures preserve the cyclic accumulation and release of volatiles inside magmas that are temporally associated with large Cu-Au-Mo-rich porphyry ore deposits. Fluid inclusions in these textures sample pristine magmatic fluid. Microanalysis of this fluid helps constrain the physical models that operate at melt-fluid interface and in the broader magma system responsible for ore deposit formation. The paper deals with the effect of sodium polysulphides in chrysocolla flotation. Activity of elementary sulphur adsorption on the mineral surface is discussed. The mechanism of polysulphide action in the process of sulphidisation and formation of sulphur on the mineral surface is proposed. Sodium pentasulphide is shown to be the most effective modifier of chrysocolla flotation.

This paper describes the structure, performance, principle and effectiveness of a new laboratory type of composed-forces field separator utilising the composition of the magnetic force, vibrating force, pulsating force, gravity and fluid-viscous force etc to separate fine feebly magnetic valuable minerals. Compared with the pulsating high gradient magnetic separator, this separator possesses unique advantages of higher enrichment ratio and higher recovery of the magnetic component.

A method using dynamic programming for solving the optimum pit limit problem was presented in an earlier paper. A recent issue of this journal contained some contributed discussion on the implementation of this technique. In this paper we provide some additional ideas and possible options one can incorporate into the method. In particular, an efficient procedure for obtaining further optimum pit outlines on extensions of the original block model is described.

Hoesch HUttenwerke AG, Dortmund, West Germany, is an integrated steel work of the Estel-group. The nominal annual production capacity-is about 7 Mio tons of steel. Hoesch has along experience in operation of diffe-rent types of slag granulation plants and of utilization of the granulated product. This experience is used to granulate a large amount of blast furnace slag and to process it in own cement plants and produce blast fur-nace cement.
