Following the United Nations initiative to fingerprint the origin of conflict materials, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development has decided to fund a pilot study on coltan ores. Since 2006, our working group has been investigating columbite- tantalite (coltan) mineralisation, especially in Africa, also within the wider framework of establishing certified trade chains. More than 300 samples were obtained from the worldÆs major coltan producing areas. Special attention is, however, directed to samples and concentrates from Ta-Nb-Sn provinces in Africa: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Namibia. Using state of the art analytical tools, we investigate mineralogical and chemical parameters obtained from columbite-tantalite ores and concentrates in order to distinguish between ore provinces, likely even down to the deposit scale. Methods employed include fully automated electron microscopy (mineral liberation analysis), electron microprobe analysis (major and minor elements), laser ablation plasma-source mass spectrometry (trace elements and U-Pb dating), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (bulk major and trace elements), X-ray diffraction analysis (mineralogy and structure) and thermal-ionisation mass-spectrometry (U-Pb dating). Major and trace element concentration patterns, mineral assemblages in the ore concentrates, and zoning characteristics in the different pegmatites from Africa distinctly differ from each other. Furthermore, the following age populations are evident:Archaean (>2.6 Ga);Palaeoproterozoic (1.9 - 2.1 Ga);early Neoproterozoic (æKibaranÆ; 0.98 - 0.93 Ga); andlate Neoproterozoic to early Palaeozoic (ca 0.5 Ga). Currently, we focus on the resolution of the fingerprinting system from region via ore province down to deposit scale. Our preliminary analytical results indicate that a certification scheme including fingerprinting of sources of coltan ores is feasible.

Properly designed evapotranspirative (ET) cover systems can greatly reduce the amount of infiltration and groundwater recharge (deep percolation) into potential acid generating mine waste. In arid and semi-arid environments, infrequent precipitation, low measurable subsurface fluxes, spatial variability within mine waste and cover material, and evapotranspiration from below the cover system create challenges to monitoring moisture flux in these systems. Sloped ET single-layer (monolayer) cover depths and a variety of reclamation treatments are being studied at a copper tailing impoundment in Arizona, USA. To monitor the performance of different ET cover systems in response to precipitation patterns, four different test plots consisting of two different cover depths and two different vegetation densities were instrumented with heat dissipation sensor nests. The sensors measure the soil water pressure potential and allow hydraulic gradients to be determined within and below the cover systems to depths of 180 cm. Three replicate sensor nests were installed in each test plot to account for variability in materials and test plot treatments. Data collection occurs twice daily and is ongoing. Weather during the 26-month monitoring period was characterised by two months of greater than normal precipitation followed by nine months of normal precipitation and 15 months of abnormally dry conditions. Monitoring data indicate that deep percolation occurs in response to periods of extended precipitation, however, drying was observed to depths of six feet below the surface in all test plots. Using conservative assumptions regarding tailing hydraulic properties, one-dimensional downward flux predictions based on the monitoring data indicate very low (Additional long-term monitoring and installation of deeper and replicate monitoring sensors into tailings without cover systems are recommended to evaluate the long-term ET cover system performance and develop a better understanding of deep percolation rates at the sites.

"The financial valuation of mining assets has a number of fundamental differences to the valuation of many other asset groupings. One such difference is that typically, the greater proportion of both the cost and revenue sides of the cash flow are inherently governed by systemic market forces.As a result, the range of outcomes for the valuation of each mining asset is more unpredictable, with higher levels of risk and uncertainty. In contrast, the management function of many other non-mining businesses or industry groups can control at least a portion of the cash flow by maintaining the margin or controlling the sales price. The management teams of mining businesses and operations typically have limited options, and are thus price-takers for both costs and revenues. As mining is an inherently cyclical industry, large, long-life operations can exist through several price cycles, making valuation both subjective and challenging.The outcomes of both static- and stochastic-based valuations, as well as the internal probabilities of the associated cash flow statements, are significantly impacted when the correlations between the appropriate parameters are quantified, modelled and incorporated into the valuation framework. The appropriate parameters for correlation modelling primarily include those that are governed by systemic market forces. Applying this process results in a different risk profile for the asset by allowing the risks resulting from systemic market movements to be more accurately quantified and then objectively minimised. The Gramalote orebody is a large low-grade gold deposit situated in the San Roque municipality, 124 km north-east of Medellin in Antioquia, Colombia. It is jointly owned by AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) and B2Gold and is currently in Feasibility Study phase. In 2013 AGA requested CRCORE to undertake a preliminary study of the potential application at Gramalote of pre-concentration by screening, part of the Grade Engineering suite. 160 samples of coarse assay rejects (-3 mm) were tested and showed one of the strongest responses seen worldwide to that time, suggesting that about 70% of the gold could be recovered into 40% of the mass. This was seen as potentially markedly improving the Gramalote economics. A large-scale testing program was implemented on site to follow up these results. A total of 18 samples of 17 t each were mined along a pre-existing exploration adit. A complex test flowsheet allowed size fractions to be generated from the as-received material as well as after crushing to 53, 23 and 3 mm, all from the same head sample. The procedures were designed after carrying out a heterogeneity study to measure sampling errors. The coarser size fractions were designed to study the effect of crushing on upgrade response and predict the response on open-pit run-of-mine ore. The finer size fractions were designed to investigate means of predicting the upgrade response across the orebody. The large-scale testing closely confirmed the average upgrade response as predicted from drill core assay rejects but found that only the -53 mm crushed material accurately predicted the upgrade response of individual samples. Ore geochemistry was able to usefully distinguish samples with good and poor response. A small study on drill core suggested that, for Gramalote, fine crushed material distinguishes vein associated and disseminated values but not other factors that control actual outcomes.

The 40 Moz Ladolam gold deposit on Lihir Island, Papua New Guinea is the worldÆs largest, low-sulfidation, epithermal gold deposit, in terms of contained gold. The deposit has average grades of 2.42 g/t Au (LGL Resources Reserves Update, 2008) and gold is hosted primarily in refractory pyrite. Lihir Island is part of the 150 km long, Tabar-Lihir-Tanga-Feni, alkalic, volcanic island chain located in the New Ireland basin. Five volcanic blocks comprise Lihir; Plio-Pliestocene Huniho, Kinami and Luise volcanic edifices are built on top of remnant Pleistocene Wurtol Wedge and Londolovit Block (Wallace et al, 1983). The Ladolam gold deposit is located in the central portion of the dissected Luise volcanic edifice and is composed of four main orebodies: 1. Minifie, 2. Lienetz, 3. Coastal, and 4. Kapit. An active geothermal system is overprinted on the ore deposit, localised along north-trending lineaments, and is expressed as hot mud pools and fumaroles. The focus of open pit mapping and drill core logging, as part of ongoing PhD research, has been in the Minifie and Lienetz orebodies. The deposit geology is grouped into four main phases: 1. volcano-sedimentary host rocks, 2. porphyry-style biotite alteration and related hydrothermal breccias and veins, 3. epithermal-style breccias and veins, and 4. modern geothermal alteration. Gold is associated with epithermal-style alteration and mineralisation. Ongoing observations of the Minifie and Lienetz orebodies are highlighting differences in the geology and paragenetic histories. An EXTENDED ABSTRACT is available for download. Silver and gold bearing ore from the Troy Resources NL Casposo Gold-Silver Project, located within the San Juan Province of Argentina contains a complex mix of gold, silver, electrum and silver sulphides in the ore. Casposo is a typical low sulphidation epithermal style gold–silver deposit where mineralisation is hosted within rhyolite – andesite flows and breccias. Veins are typically banded quartz–chalcedony colloform - crustiform banded with quartz - carbonate infill. Mineralisation is associated with an assemblage consisting of quartz, chalcedony, adularia, calcite, illite, sericite and trace sulphides. Gold and silver occur as electrum, native silver, sulfosalts and silver sulphides. This paper presents a case study that describes the process selection, development and engineering of a tailored process plant for the recovery of gold and silver from this ore.The original feasibility study, modelling, metallurgical testwork and engineering studies are outlined. The final flowsheet was based on minimising capital cost, operability, recovery and minimising technical risk.The process flowsheet uses the traditional Merrill Crowe route because of the high silver to gold ratio in the feed and achieves maximum gold and silver recovery while providing a common facility for future ore body treatment.

The following is based on two examples of emission control with coal fired power stations as practised in Germany at Heilbronn Block 7 power station and the Rheinbraun coal combined power station with integrated high-temperature Winkler system (HTW). Heilbronn Block 7 demonstrates the successful emission control of sulphur and nitrogen oxides and the (HTW) system the reduction of the specific carbon dioxide emission. Both were sparked off by legislation which demanded certain emission control standards. Since the early eighties environment protection has been a matter of heated public debate in the European Community. A recent survey in Germany showed unemployment as being the only subject matter more frequently in the minds of people than environment protection. A new kind of forest devastation in areas away from industry has caused investigations by several government departments and private enterprise. Because of lack of conclusive evidence so far, the principle of PRECAUTION has replaced the CONCLUSIVE evidence as a base for new legislation concerning the environment. The new legislative standards for nitrogen oxide emissions in Germany for example have reduced NOx emissions of power stations from 1000 mg NOx per cubic metre of flue gas in the beginning of 1983 to 200 mg NOx per cubic metre of flue gas in April 1984. These new standards were enshrined in legislation when research provided some evidence linking nitrogen oxide emissions through photo-chemical reactions with forest devastation. Thirty European countries signed a treaty in 1983 expressing their concern about air pollution and their willingness to co-operate with each other in controlling large scale emissions.

The Roy Hill Project is an independent integrated port, rail and mine development in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The bankable feasibility study for the project was completed in January 2011 by Roy Hill Holdings Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hancock Prospecting Pty Ltd. The Project will deliver 55 Mt/a of premium quality iron ore to a rapidly growing market with a mine life of over 27 years. This study is based on exploiting a 1.2 Bt bedded resource of microplaty haematite-rich Marra Mamba, from which 562 Mt of reserves has been delineated to date. A further 1.1 Bt resource of detritals and low grade bedded is proposed to be mined once the bedded high grade resource is depleted. Roy Hill lump and fi ne ore products will compete strongly with other Pilbara products. As a low cost producer, Roy Hill is on track to capture four per cent of the global seaborne traded iron ore market. The project decision to proceed is targeted for Q2 2011 to enable first ore on ship by Q2 2014.

The term Engineer of Record (EoR) is commonly used in North America and South Africa to define the responsible person for the design, construction and operational phases of a tailings storage facility (TSF). Recently, this role has been elevated in prominence within Australia, but what does it really mean? Recent updates to international TSF guidelines suggests appointing an EoR is good practice, but where does the responsibilities of the EoR start and finish. Interestingly, both Samarco and Mount Polley failures had active EoR’s in place. This suggests that nominating an EoR alone, is not the full answer to mitigating the potential for a TSF failure. Appropriate construction and operational practices are key to the success of the design of TSFs, where all too often, operators ignore the operating plans developed by the designer. To be successful, a key consideration of the EoR role, is involvement in the operational phase of the TSF. This requires ‘buy-in’ from the mine managers and a change in the way TSFs are perceived by site. This paper explores how the roles and responsibilities of the EoR can assist in improving governance of TSFs if implemented effectively and what role the client has to ensure the success of the EoR.

Alcoa operates two bauxite mines at Huntly and Willowdale, located within the jarrah forest south-east of Perth in Western Australia. Ore reserves are shallow but extensive, and mining pits averaging around 20 ha in size are distributed across a mining region in a mosaic pattern, linked to a centrally-located crusher by a radiating network of haulroads. A mining or crusher region is defined partly in terms of economic haul distances, and new regions are opened once the current regions’ reserves have been mined. Since commencing in 1973, the Huntly mine has constructed and progressively closed three previous mining regions and is presently in a transition from the fourth and current region of McCoy to the new region of Myara. At present rates of production, approximately 450 ha is cleared, mined and rehabilitated each year.The value of topsoil in returning a diverse mix of native jarrah forest plant species and supplying nutrients, organic matter and soil biota to rehabilitated areas has long been recognised. Managing the topsoil resource is therefore a critical element in the success of rehabilitation outcomes, but the distribution and dynamic nature of mining operations pose significant planning and logistical challenges. The regionalised approach to mining at Huntly also presents a range of issues for what are, in effect, soil management plans for episodic mine closure. The nature of mining and rehabilitation operations are described, together with the planning processes that Alcoa follows to quantify, track and report on soil movement. A case study of the Huntly mine demonstrates that an integrated operational and life-of-mine planning process is essential for successful and cost-effective mine rehabilitation.CITATION:Hackett, L and Grigg, A, 2014. The discovery and delineation of significant mineralisation in the Eliwana region continues Fortescue Metals Group’s strong exploration success. In the decade after the first hole was drilled into Christmas Creek in mid-2004 a total of over 11 Bt of hematite-goethite mineralisation have been delineated supporting the raising of $13 B, construction of five mines, 620 km of rail and a five-berth port. As of June 2014, Fortescue was shipping at the rate of 155 Mt/a. The area including the Eliwana and Flying Fish deposits is one of a number of future growth opportunities that Fortescue is currently evaluating.The Eliwana and Flying Fish deposits occur on the south dipping limb of the Brockman Syncline/Jeerinah Anticline. The Eliwana group of deposits are hosted by the Brockman Iron Formation with the Flying Fish/Broadway group hosted by the Marra Mamba Iron Formation.Structurally the area is dominated by moderate southerly dips of the regional dome and keel style folding. The regional limb is locally cross-cut at a small angle by asymmetric north facing Ophthalmian folds trending 110°. These fold sets, in part, preferentially host subsequent supergene mineralisation. Faulting is only locally apparent.Early phases of exploration commenced in 2006, with mapping of Flying Fish and reconnaissance drilling in 2007. However, due to the concurrent discovery (Clarke et al, 2009) and subsequent fast tracked development of Solomon channel iron deposit and Firetail bedded iron deposit (Simpson et al, 2011) priority was placed on developing Solomon due to its relative proximity to existing Fortescue infrastructure. Staged follow-up drilling of both Marra Mamba and Brockman targets at Eliwana was progressively undertaken from 2008 onward.As of 20 May 2014 a total of 1494 reverse circulation (RC) holes for 54 248 m and 13 diamond holes had been completed, resulting in the delineation of a Mineral Resource of 740 Mt. Much of the theory upon which the Sublevel Caving (SLC) method is based was developed in Scandinavia many years ago. It was based mainly on æbinÆ theory and æellipsoid of drawÆ configurations derived from sandbox models. In many cases, classical SLC layouts influenced by these early theories obtained relatively poor results. Early dilution entry, low tonnage factors and low recoveries were commonly experienced. SLC soon gained the reputation of being a high dilution, low recovery and development intensive method. This led to SLC falling into disfavour generally, other than as a pillar reclamation method used at the end of the life of mines. More recently a number of mines, notably those in Australia, have adopted SLC as a primary extraction method and have achieved good recovery results. The reason for the better results is believed to be an outcome of modifications in some of the basic design parameters and operational procedures. This has led to questions being raised regarding the original æbin theoryÆ assumptions and classical SLC layout designs. It is clear that the fragmentation and flow characteristics occurring in a choke blast situation (compaction of waste, variable size and shape of fragmentation throughout the ring) conflicts significantly with the assumptions of regular loose flow of uniform, fine grained, material in a bin. Interactive versus independent draw conditions can also materially effect the outcome of a SLC operation. The good results obtained more recently can only be explained by using ænewÆ models of behaviour, which have to a large extent been borrowed from block caving. If these models are correct, they point to a number of design and operational changes that can be applied to improve the effectiveness of SLC. This paper discusses the factors that may not have been fully considered in early SLC design and modelling. It emphasises the importance of delayed dilution entry as a primary objective of sound SLC design and provides a basis for efficient SLC design and operation.

Banded Iron Formations or more commonly known as BIF are sedimentary rock formations with alternating silica-rich layers and iron-rich layers that are typically composed of iron oxides (hematite and magnetite), iron-rich carbonates, and/or iron-rich silicates. Considering the depletion of highgrade iron ore reserves in South Africa, there is a need to maximise resource utilisation through the exploitation of sterile resources in particular BIF material which makes up greater than 65 per cent of current reserves. BIF, like most resources, is non-renewable and the deposition of BIF is thought to have come about by the reaction of Fe2+ ions in the ocean water with dissolved oxygen billions of years ago. BIF ore derived from the Limpopo region in South Africa (SA) located in the Penge Iron Formation is according to Cairncross, Kramers and Villa (2018) equivalent to that contained within the Asbestos Hills Iron Formation of the Transvaal Supergroup in the Northern Cape, SA. Considering that these are one of the largest iron ore deposits in SA, the case study involved mineralogical characterisation followed by beneficiation of BIF from these two regions to ascertain the comparability. Coarse and fines gravity separation comprising of Heavy Liquid Separation/Dense Media Separation on the +1.18 mm size fraction and shaking table on the -1.18 mm size fraction was conducted to ascertain whether an on-grade product or blended feedstock could be produced. The Limpopo mixed and Northern Cape conglomerate BIF samples achieved similar overall responses due to the conglomerate sample containing 15.3 per cent additional -1.18 mm fines. A combined coarse and fines product grading at 60 per cent Fe could be achieved at a yield and recovery of 43.9– 53.0 per cent and 62.2–63.8 per cent respectively. Increasing the grade to 63 per cent Fe reduces the overall recovery by 13.3 per cent. At the higher target grade, the contaminant specifications could be achieved for both samples. The Northern Cape laminated BIF sample is the most promising of the three samples studied. At the two iron target grades overall yields and iron recoveries of 72.9–65.4 per cent and 85.2– 80.2 per cent was achieved. In both instances the silica grade exceeded the product specification, however if the silica content is the driver the target iron grade should increase to 63.32 per cent. This will result in a minimal decrease in recovery of 0.4 per cent. The promising results of this study indicate that coarse beneficiation of BIF material is possible. These ore types could be blended with superior grade products to improve overall yields and recoveries or sold directly at a 63 per cent Fe product grade whilst sacrificing 0.4–13.3 per cent recovery.

The SAG mill at Rasp Mine has undergone a number of liner design modifications since commissioning in 2012, making liner wear and failure difficult to predict from historical data. During 2017, several instances of liner failure or near failure were experienced resulting in unplanned downtime for emergency relines or to patch liners in the lead up to a planned shutdown. The strategy for relining mills is often to minimise the frequency of relines (and subsequent shutdown costs) by extending liner life, achieved through design modifications. However, it was observed that as the Rasp SAG mill liners wear, mill performance declined with power draw increasing and throughput declining. Opportunity and inefficiency costs start to erode the revenue per additional tonne milled for a given set of liners, and in turn the benefit of delaying relines. As such, optimising the frequency of relines becomes a trade-off between reline costs and opportunity/inefficiency costs in delaying relines. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate a frame work for analysing costs using a marginal economic analysis with the assumption that the Law of Diminishing Returns can be applied to the life of mill liners. The SAG mill operating variables can be modelled to determine their impact on costs and an optimal reline point can be defined where the total costs are minimised. This prevents unexpected failures due to accelerated wear by providing justification to reline earlier and thereby allowing efforts to be focused on sustaining milling performance.CITATION:Standen, C M, 2018. Base-metal sulfide refractory gold ores often contain a portion of ‘free’ gold that is amenable to recovery using gravity concentration methods, whilst the refractory portion of the gold is better recovered using flotation. The decision as to whether a plant treating a refractory gold ore should utilise gravity concentration or a flash flotation circuit (or a combination of both) within the grinding circuit is usually made at the design stage of flow sheet development. Very limited data is available in the published literature which provides an industrial scale comparison on which to base such a decision and conventional laboratory testing methods are often the only way of obtaining such data. The optimum processing route will also be mineralogy dependent.This paper presents the findings of operating a refractory gold plant with either flash flotation (normal operation) or a combination of flash and gravity recovery methods treating the cyclone underflow stream and will demonstrate the regions of the recovery profile that each contributes to. Size-by-assay analysis has been performed on a number of streams around the operating plant to gain an insight into the changes that occur when the gravity circuit is in operation in addition to the flash flotation circuit. Controlled Source Audio Magnetotelluric (CSAMT) surveys were carried out by Glass Earth (New Zealand) Limited (Glass Earth) in 2006 - 2007 to investigate epithermal gold targets in the central North Island of New Zealand. The surveys were conducted using a Zonge GDP 32 8-channels receiver and a Zonge XMT 32 transmitter powered by a 16 KW generator. The electric field dipole was maintained at 20 m length (five dipoles per 100 m spread) and the frequency ranged from 4 KHz to 4 Hz. Only scalar (TM mode) signals were recorded, using one magnetic coil per spread. The transmitter bipoles were 1 - 4 km in length and located about 5 to 10 km from each survey area.   Sixteen individual target areas were surveyed by June 2007. The CSAMT survey lines (100 - 400 m spacing) were determined mainly on results from previous ultra-detailed airborne magnetic and gravity surveys conducted by Glass Earth in 2005. The data from each CSAMT line was carefully examined to remove any spurious signals and processed using Zonge SCS2D software, which can produce smooth 2D resistivity inversions of the field data. The results were presented as resistivity sections and maps to help the identification of exploratory drilling targets, mainly from the existence of subsurface high resistivity zones (resistors) that can be interpreted as caused by silicification associated with epithermal mineralization.   An example of processing and interpretation of the CSAMT data is presented in this paper on results from Glass EarthÆs Tahunaatara target, where CSAMT surveys have identified zones of epithermal mineralization confirmed by exploratory drilling.

New Zealand Steel Mining Limited operates two independent sand mining operations on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. (Fig. 1)Waikato North Head 30km south of Auckland supplies ironsand concentrate as the raw feed for New Zealand Steel's works at Glenbrook, and Taharoa 70km further south, exports ironsand concentrate to Japan. Taharoa uses two sets of six low pressure Warman centrifugal pumps in series to load bulk ore carriers 3km off shore through two underwater pipelines.Waikato North Head delivers the ironsand to Glenbrook l8kms through a 200mm ID buried pipeline using two stages of high pressure positive displacement (HPPD) pumping.A high level of operating and maintenance expertise has been developed since commissioning the two systems which are proving to be reliable, efficient and of minimal impact environmentally.

In 2010, Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) was Australia’s largest gold producer, with total annual production of 788 000 ounces. Of the gold produced by KCGM in 2010, 95 per cent was extracted from the Fimiston open pit, also known as the Superpit. The Fimiston operation encompasses the historic Golden Mile, from which more than 55 million ounces of gold have been extracted from the world-class Fimiston lode style mineralisation.The operational performance of the KCGM Fimiston open pit was reviewed for the period between 2005 and 2010. Key performance metrics reviewed included mined tonnes and grade, cost per ounce of gold produced and the mine to mill reconciliation trends. The years 2007 and 2008 were characterised by a decline in performance against key performance metrics. The ore zones were diluted, with the excess tonnes mined resulting in lower grade and an increase in the cost per ounce. Poor reconciliation between ore mined, the ore reserve model and the grade control polygons was also observed.A series of improvement initiatives were implemented in late 2008. As a result of changes made to the grade control and mining practices, the site performance recovered. Unplanned dilution was reduced, which had a positive impact on mined grade. The lower tonnes combined with higher grade reduced the cost per ounce to below budgeted levels in 2009 and 2010, enhancing the profitability of the operation. The operational performance between 2005 and 2010 was compared to the turnover statistics for the KCGM geology department over the same period. Turnover accelerated between 2005 and 2007, peaking at an annualised rate of 43 per cent. With the onset of the Global Financial Crisis and the implementation of retention initiatives, turnover reduced significantly between 2008 and 2010. A strong consistent correlation was observed between the turnover trends in geology and the performance of the grade control function and resultant site metrics.The cost of turnover is known intuitively, however, rarely quantified. To evaluate the benefit of the improved performance, a detailed financial model was used to quantify the impact of the grade control function. In 2010, the headgrade exceeding budget by just four per cent contributed an additional A$24 M of value to KCGM. In contrast, if the 2008 performance had been replicated in 2010 (-9 per cent on headgrade), the result would have removed A$61 M in value from the business. The KCGM experience between 2005 and 2010 demonstrates the value of human capital in a mining operation and the importance of a high performing geology grade control team to the profitability of a mining operation.

This paper presents a case study of characterisation work undertaken at a greenfield exploration project to provide engineering and OH&S inputs for the design of a ventilation system. The paper discusses how comprehensive early characterisation of the ambient surface and underground environment including aspects related to heat, dusts, strata gas, and geologic/mineralogical factors enables incorporation of the right ventilation and non-ventilation controls at a study level to mitigate the risks identified.
