Enclosed cabs have been used on surface mining equipment for many years to protect equipment operators from health and safety hazards. The surface mining and quarrying process is a highly mechanized process that generates large quantities of respirable dust. Due to economic factors, more older mining equipment is being used today than in years past. With this older equipment, it is common to observe deterioration of many components on the enclosed cabs, which greatly reduce their protection effectiveness. NIOSH has performed a number of different field studies, as well as a comprehensive laboratory study, evaluating various factors and parameters regarding enclosed cabs. NIOSH has recently completed a cooperative research effort to evaluate the effectiveness of a newly designed unidirectional powered precleaner, filter and pressurizer that brings clean filtered air in at the roof of the cab and extracts all recirculated air near the floor. This research effort provided another example of the enhancement in air quality that can be achieved in an enclosed cab from the implementation of an improved filtration system and by establishing positive pressurization from increased intake air volume and sealing the cab. This testing showed a significant reduction in respirable dust levels in the enclosed cab when comparing baseline versus post-testing results. Since dust levels were similar near the roof and floor of the cab during post-testing, the unidirectional flow pattern did not appear to significantly improve the performance over the conventional design in this study.

The Surface Mining Control & Reclamation Act is a complex piece of legislation signed into law on August 3, 1977. It is the culmination of more than six years of debate by the Congress over the need for a national regulation of surface mining as opposed to the prior concept of regulation by each concerned state. It departs from the more normal type of law in that it includes very specific requirements, limitations and performance standards. In its procedural aspects, it is somewhat similar to the Clean Air Act and the Water Pollution Control Act in that it places primary responsibility at the state level, provided the state meets minimum national requirements. At the time of writing this paper, in late December 1978, the Interim Regulatory Program has been in effect for seven months. The proposed regulations for the Permanent Program, the draft Environmental Impact Statement, and the draft Regulatory (Economic) Analysis ware available for eight weeks before the close of the comment period on November 27. We are now awaiting issuance of the final versions of these documents. The states in which coal is mined, for the most part, have made sere revision to their state laws and are in the process of revising their regulations, or have just completed the revision, to comply with the Initial Regulatory Procedures. They are now faced with another new major effort to analyze and plan for compliance with the Permanent Regulatory Program, which is expected to be promulgated by the Office of Surface Mining of the Department of Interior by the time this paper is presented.

The Montana Operations of the Anaconda Company constitute an integrated, though geographically separated, non-ferrous metal production complex. The mines are located at Butte and consist of one large open-pit mine, two small underground mines, a precipitation plant for both underground and pit-dump leach water, and the Weed Copper Concentrator. The smelter, located at Anaconda, Montana 25 miles to the west, processes all Butte copper shipments as well as copper materials from both Anaconda and private mines. Copper and zinc are refined at Great Falls, Montana, 165 miles to the north. Other facilities developed over the years include the Anaconda Forest Products Division, the Butte, Anaconda, and Little. Chicago Water Companies, and the Montana Hardware Company. Data processing for these operations has been performed on an IBM 360 Series, Model 30 computer, utilizing a Disc Operating System. This was replaced in September 1970 with a 360 Series, Model 40 128K unit. In addition, some data processing is also done for Anaconda Company operations located at Britannia Beach, British Columbia; Columbia Falls, Montana; Yerington, Nevada; and Twin Buttes and Tuscon, Arizona. The material under discussion in this paper will be concerned primarily with the mining operations at Butte.

The Silver City mining region is located in Grant County, southwestern New Mexico (Fig. 1). This area is well known, having produced large tonnages of base and lesser amounts of precious metals over the past several years. Mining within the region continues today, as well as exploration activity, which seems to have been on the increase since the recent discovery of a large skarn-associated Zn-Pb-Cu replacement deposit near Pinos Altos, a mineral district within the region (McKnight and Fellows, 1978). Because the Silver City area contains a number of mineral districts and retains promise for additional deposits, as suggested by widespread hydrothermal alteration and favorable igneous rocks, it was selected as the focus of two independent geochemical studies, both seeking to enhance anomaly-to- background contrast in order to improve our abilities to detect blind metal deposits or subtle manifestations of near-surface occurrences. The first of these independent studies involved the systematic sampling of those secondary Fe-Mn oxides that occur within coatings, selvages, and fault fillings, and then the selective extraction of these oxides from the host-rock matrix by chemical methods. The second study sought to isolate clastic Fe-Mn-rich materials from the heavy fraction of stream alluvium. The ultimate source of the clastic Fe-Mn oxides is presumed to be the same coatings, selvages, and fault fillings sought by the direct sampling of joints, but has been transported as a result of lateral erosional processes.

Phase III and Phase IV of the Beaver Creek Clean River Project, Albany, NY, includes microtunnel construction of 2,320 feet of 48-inch/36-inch internal diameter (ID) conveyance pipe and a 525 foot long 9.5-ft horseshoe shape roadheader excavated tunnel. Notable challenges were encountered during the construction including mixed face tunnel conditions, undocumented existing fill ground conditions that resulted in settlement during shaft construction, and unstable tunnel face conditions. This paper discusses several of the key challenges encountered during construction and selected solutions to construction sequencing and methodology to successfully complete Phase III and Phase IV of the Beaver Creek Clean River Project.

We will first review the situation historically and then examine the problems and constraints that are now making the financing task more difficult. Suggested solutions are discussed, and a new method of financing a group of mining projects is hypothesized.

The STG integrated method of grouting can be divided into the several phases as outlined in preceding chapters. For convenience in describing technical procedures, they can be grouped as: 1. Investigations in non-geotechnical, exploration bore¬holes. 2. Drilling the holes necessary for geotechnical investiga¬tions and for grouting. 3. Conducting appropriate hydrogeologic tests in those holes and consequent calculations. 4. The preparation of a clay mortar. 5. The preparation of a clay-cement grout with additives. 6. The injection of the grout. 7. Checking the quality of the grout curtain. Items 2, 4, 5 and 6 are discussed below. These activities contain the procedural aspects of grouting. 7.1 DRILLING GROUT HOLES Grout holes belong to a very select class of drillholes. The necessary drilling equipment must enable the operator to drill the holes in inclined, twisting directions. In addi¬tion, the equipment must permit drilling under structurally and hydrogeologically complex conditions. The equipment must permit the operator to conduct specific testing activi¬ties in the drillholes. These activities include hydrodynamic analyses, flowmetric analysis, and the installation and re¬moval of deflectors, packers, grouting plugs, casings, lin¬ers, pumping facilities and other work. As explained in Chapters 5 and 6, the grouting of sat¬urated rock is conducted both through holes drilled from the surface and through holes drilled from the face of a shaft, drift, or tunnel. The drilling of grout holes from the surface can be carried out by an aggregate of equipment that can be the same equipment used for drilling exploration boreholes. Depending on the projected depth of the holes, the STG ZIF- 1200MR and ZIF-650 drilling rigs (or modifications of them) are used. The SKB-4, SKB-5 and SKB-7 high-output drilling rigs (workover rigs) have been used in recent years. The STG BMP-24 drilling rigs are used for carrying out the descent-lifting operations for drilling holes from the sur¬face. In a number of cases, the UKB-500C, URB-3AM and URB-2A power-fed drilling equipment is used for drilling holes from the surface. It should be noted that the drilling of grout holes usually requires an electric drive assembly. Drilling with diesel drive assemblies would be used only to preclude the possi¬bility of losing electric power during drilling operations. Turbine drilling would be used only for appropriate techni¬cal-economic reasons. The selection of the grout hole design is determined by the hydrogeological and structural geological conditions at the site as interpreted in Chapters 2 and 3. The design of grout holes must be as simple as possible in order to min¬imize costs. Hole design guidelines can be adopted as a basis for this purpose, unless site-specific conditions require otherwise. The mouth of the drillhole must be outfitted with a guide-pipe having a length of at least 2 m and an outside diameter from 219 to 234 mm. The upper part of the hole must be attached by a jig consisting of borehole casing that has a diameter ranging from 108 to 146 mm. The length of the jig h is determined by the equation [ ] where k = 1.1 to 1.2 is the load factor; P,, is the injection pressure of the grout into the mouth of the drillhole; D is the external diameter of the jig pipe; m = 0.6 to 0.7 is the work condition factor; T[ ].1 MPa is the bonding value of the rock cemented to the jig. The grout hole is drilled from the jig shoe to the de¬signed depth using a rock-crushing bit with a diameter of 93 mm or more. However in complex hydrogeological condi¬tions when the shaft intersects unstable rock, other hole designs can be used. The diameter of grout holes must permit an aggregate of investigations to be conducted in them using down-hole borehole geophysical and flowmetric logging instruments. It is necessary to cement the casing strings reliably in the grout holes, thereby permitting the injection of the grout under high pressure through the pres¬sure tight mouth of the borehole. Technological details for drilling grout holes such as the rotational rate of the drill bit, the axial load on the rock¬crushing bit, and the drilling fluid flow rate are optimized for the specific rock-hydrogeological conditions largely by experience. The hole diameter and type of rock crushing bit are important variables in these details of drilling. It is advisable to drill holes using water as the drilling fluid. However in those cases where the hole walls are unstable or under very high ground water pressure, the use of a well¬ engineered drilling mud should not be precluded. Unfortu¬nately, drilling mud can influence test results. When steeply dipping fractures with inclination angles of more than 60 to 70° are encountered, it is necessary to drill guided, inclined grout holes. The Pinglin tunnels are situated within the fold-and-thrust belt structural region in Taiwan, due to continent-arc collision and plate tectonic setting. The pilot tunnel TBM (§=4.8m) became stuck ten times with the standstills to date. The westbound main tunnel TBM (§=11.74m) was buried in a collapsing calamity. The main tunnel TBM shall identify and overcome the adverse geology with high volume of ground water ingress itself. This paper presents our experience and methodology through the adverse geology with Pinglin large TBM.

To clarify what r mean about this long title, I would like to define the term technology. A standard definition of the word "technology" is "a technical method of achieving a practical purpose". Incidently, another definition of the term is merely "technical language". The same dictionary defines the word "technology" as "having a special, usually practical, knowledge of mechanical or scientific subject." Naturally, the practical purpose of the subject with which we are concerned is solving of problems we encounter in the mining industry. I might further describe the subject of this discourse by defining the term "manager". An old definition, "one who dispenses the duties of his position with care and economy." In line with the above definition most of the technology with which we in the mining industry are confronted with deals with some form of cost reduction. This may be related to the speed of doing an operation or to saving of labor or supply costs. These can be improvements of an existing method or the result of new processes or inventions, such as new machinery.

As one of the major suppliers of the chestnut Ridge energy center, Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal Company continues the search for more efficient haulage systems. This search is one that is essential in providing coal to the Keystone and Homer City power plants at the most economical cost. These two electrical generating plants located in west central Pennsylvania are part of the energy center which consists of four generating stations. Prior to the time the two stations were put on line, August, 1967 for Keystone and August, 1969 for Homer City, our company made the decision to rely on belt conveyors from the section to the surface to provide for continuous main line haulage. The proximity of these generating stations to proven reserves allow for minimal truck haulage and minemouth setups. With the addition of seven new mines, in the past ten years, revisions have been made on the original setup to interconnect the haulage of several mines to deliver the product by belt to the power plants.

Optimizing a production schedule with semi-mobile in-pit crushing & conveyance (IPCC) requires integrating extraction sequence, destination policy, crusher relocation, conveyor layout, and truck fleet investment decisions. An integrated stochastic optimization framework is proposed to produce long-term schedules for mining complexes using multiple semi-mobile IPCC systems. The optimizer selects the crusher locations and designs the conveyor routes from anywhere in the mines. The stochastic framework considers simulated multi-element orebody realizations and manages associated risk. A hybrid metaheuristic based on simulated annealing and evolutionary algorithm is implemented for the optimization. The method is demonstrated using an iron ore mining complex.

The Fence Lake Project is located in the Salt Lake coal field, an extension of the San Juan Basin. Geologic formations exposed in the Project area range in age from late Cretaceous to Quaternary. Coal is encountered in the Moreno Hill Formation (upper Cretaceous). Salt River Project (SRP) followed the basic textbook approach for the exploration, regional appraisal, detailed reconnaissance, detailed surface appraisal and three dimensional sampling (physical exploration). SRP is exploring this property as a potential fuel source for the Coronado Generating Station. Therefore, for the physical exploration stage, the quality sampling program was designed from a utility company viewpoint to determine possible impacts to the Station. Exploration drilling was completed in spring, 1982; September, 1982, and summer, 1984. Engineering, environmental, and land acquisition studies were added in the Summer, 1984 Program to more closely evaluate the potential Fence Lake Project coal supply option for the Coronado Generating Station. Studies, including drilling, are ongoing-at this time.

Lack of selectivity in mixed mineral flocculation can be attributed to one or more of the following factors: dissolved ion interference, heterocoagulation, mechanical entrapment in flocs and entrainment of fines between flocs. In a study of apatite- dolomite system, it was determined that dissolved ions do not have a significant effect on selectivity. Heterocoagulation was minimized by choosing proper process conditions and addition of a dispersant. Mechanical entrapment was proved to be insignificant and efforts were made to reduce entrainment by choosing an appropriate method of separation of flocs from fines. A new factor termed "polymer induced entrapment" which occurs due to limited affinity of the polymer to the mineral which is not flocculated is postulated to be the cause for the loss of selectivity.

This presentation will describe the underground excavation at the Bad Creek Pump Storage project. It consists of approximately 3,650 m of various size tunnels ranging from 4.2 m to 9.0 m finished diameter, a powerhouse cavern 45 m high by 135 m long by 22.5 m wide, and 422 m of 9 m diameter shaft. A total of 350,000 m of rock will be excavated, hauled, and placed in a submerged wier. Temporary rock support consisting of shotcrete and/or rockbolts is installed as required.

Mineral policy in Canada has been in a state of transition and change over the past several years. 1976 has witnessed some settling of troubled waters and the pattern of the currents of change is becoming more clear. The provinces play a key role in this process and have provided much of the thrust for new initiatives. On the other hand, the federal government in Canada in recent years has taken a much more active interest in mineral affairs than previously and has asserted its powers on a number of key policy questions. Some of the initiatives from the two levels of government in Canada have come into conflict with each other and, thus, contributed materially to a state of affairs that includes change, uncertainty and conflict.

Economic concentrations of potassium are essentially limited to thick, stratigraphic sections of marine evaporites. These deposits were precipitated through the evaporation of sea water in restricted epicontinental seas or in grabens related to continental margin rift systems. Following deposition the deposits were subjected to diagenesis and varying degrees of metasomatism and structural deformation. The origin and characteristics of potash deposits are easier to study and interpret than those of most ore deposits because the phase chemistry of the salt systems is known and the approximate composition of the ore-forming fluid (sea water) can be inferred with confidence. It is particularly helpful that the temperature and pressure of deposition approximated that of present earth surface conditions and the pertinent mineral assemblages can readily be duplicated in the laboratory. The study of these comparatively simple salt deposits provides examples of the practical advantages of understanding the genesis of an ore deposit. These observations, in turn, illustrate the importance of pursuing research on the more complicated magmatic, hydrothermal, and ground-water systems as a means to the more successful exploration for and exploitation of the deposits they have produced. It is the purpose of this paper, therefore, to discuss certain aspects of salt deposit geology as they contribute to exploration and mining through some understanding of ore formation. References to field examples and chemical relations in the salt systems are brief. All examples are more fully discussed, however, in the references cited.

The benefit of gravity separation in improving total gold recovery in grinding circuits has been outlined in a significant number of papers to date. However, the use of batch centrifugal concentrators (BCC) as an industry standard to extract gold has limited the potential for maximizing gravity recoveries -particularly in coarse gold deposits. This is a reflection of the high upgrade ratios obtained by BCC's which has an inverse relationship with recoveries. Survey work in Australia has indicated that installation of the InLine Pressure Jig as an alternative to the Bee will significantly increase recoveries of gold by gravity and, accordingly, increase total gold recoveries and lower operating costs.

INTRODUCTION Our present estimates of world P205 consumption for all uses show an average annual growth rate of approximately 1.9% per year. The estimated 1985 consumption of 41.5 million tonnes of P205 is predicted to increase to 57.1 million tonnes of P205 by the year 2005, which represents a growth from 157.7 million tonnes in 1985 to 217 million tonnes of phosphate rock in 2005. The present situation of oversupply and extremely weak phosphate product prices is, however, expected to continue in the short term and a normal supply/demand balance may not be achieved until after 1990. The growth in P205 demand, in conjunction with the higher cost of replacing low cost mines as they are depleted, will place economic pressure on world farm economies through the increased cost of phosphate fertilizers. The availability of rock supply is not the challenge; rather, it is the economics of new rock supply. This economic challenge of providing new rock supply is by no means limited to the United States. Even in centrally controlled economies, the cost of rock from domestic mines of marginal quality and economic viability, coupled with burdensome infra¬structure requirements, may result in tonnage additions at very high cost. Although government subsidies to offset higher production cost is a factor in some countries, world production in the next 20 years will be directed, if not governed, by economic factors. Established infrastructure, good quality reserves, and existing operations will provide a competitive advantage for new prod¬uction. It is our opinion that the current world supply structure will remain relatively stable through 2005, in that most of the traditional suppliers will retain supply roles. U.S. rock production, although it is not expected to grow beyond the present level, will still be a major contributor to world supply. Although dramatic changes within mining, fertilizer production and farm economics may appear disruptive, the current supply scenario will, in general, continue with the major issue being production economics. WORLD DEMAND Demand for P205 by region in the world has been estimated using projections of population, crops and yield, arable land, economic and other data as a basis for future demand projec¬tions by Blue-Johnson and Associates, our col¬laborators on a recent multi-client study. Non-fertilizer P205 demands were estimated in the same general manner. These estimates of future demand are based on an assumption of reasonable world political and economic stabil¬ity, debt repayment requirements maintained at workable levels, and resolution of problems in the agricultural economy to a point where normal supply/demand forces can interact freely to provide a basis for continued P205 supply. The results of these studies indicated an average growth rate of 1.9% per year through the year 2005. This growth could be as low as 1.5% per year, or as high as 2.5% per year. It is our opinion that the estimated rate of 1.9% per year is most probable. This moderate growth rate considers both the major economic constraints facing the world agricultural industry today and the general problem of affordability of fertilizers and other crop inputs. WORLD SUPPLY There are adequately defined world reserves of phosphate rock today to provide supply well into the future, even at much higher levels of demand than presently projected. Using the U.S. Bureau of Mines estimates, which are based on stringent criteria for definition of reserves, the present world reserves base is approximately 35 billion tonnes. Identified resources raise the potential for production by orders of magnitude. Potential resources based on geological trends, and including offshore deposits, would again result in orders of magnitude increases in rock resources. Morocco leads the world in reserves base with approxi¬mately 21 billion tonnes. The U.S. is second, followed by the Republic of South Africa and Russia. These four countries control about 87%

The Department of Thoracic Surgery and Pathology at the Toronto General Hospital have had a long standing interest in the early detection and treatment of carcinoma of the lung. Our initial experience was with a population at risk due to a prolonged period of cigarette smoking. More recently our efforts have turned to industrial exposure, specifically in the nickel and uranium industries. [Initial Screening Project] (1) For a three year period 1963 to 1966 a cytology screening program was carried out through the Out-Patient Department. The study was limited to cigarette smokers over 40 in age. A total of 1586 patients were examined. Of the sputa collected, the classification is seen in Table 1. There were 11 malignant sputa present. Added to this number were 25 patients with symptoms, normal chest X-rays, but malignant cells on cytology, and a further 5 patients in whom an abnormality (eventually proven non-malignant) showed on X-ray, and sputum showed malignancy which was radio logically occult. (Table II). This gave a total of 41 patients with malignant sputum who were evaluated between 1960 and 1966. The clinical course of these patients is seen in Table III. Only 19 of 41 patients had localization and treatment of their tumour during that study period and this low rate of localization attests to the technical difficulties endoscopy in that day presented. The method of localization was as follows: a) 6 patients showed an area of segmental pneumonitis somewhere in this time period b) Using the rigid bronchoscope localized the tumour in 9. This was proven by direct biopsy, and frequently required more than one bronchoscopy over a prolonged time period. c) bronchograms and tomograms showed abnormalities in 5 patients. Of these 19 patients, 5 were treated by radiotherapy because of general condition or refusal of surgery. Three of the irradiated patients died of recurrent cancer within three years. The other two died within one year of unrelated disease. Fourteen patients underwent resection, with one operative mortality. At pathology, the tumours were "in situ" in 6 and invasive in 13. There was no evidence of nodal spread. When last followed up in 1979, there were no cases of recurrent tumour and no cases of second lung primary tumours. Similar experiences have been reported from the Mayo Clinic (2), Johns Hopkins (3) and Memorial Hospitals (4). Early detection of radiologically occult tumours which are in situ or minimally invasive has given uniformly good results. There have been no deaths from recurrent or metastatic cancer in surgically resected patients, and only one second primary tumour has been detected. Interestingly, the Hopkins group reports that 5 patients with Stage I squamous cell tumours refused operation. One refused any treatment and died of disease at 12 months. Three were radiated, and were alive from 14-38 months post-treatment, all with evidence of recurrent disease. [Sudbury Sintering Plant Study](5) From 1948 to 1963 an open travelling-grate sintering process was employed to convert nickel sulfide to nickel oxide at an International Nickel Company operation. The environment in this plant was particularly dusty and filled with fumes. It became apparent by 1969 that the incidence of bronchogenic carcinoma was markedly increased in workers from this plant. A concerted effort was made to track down all workmen with this exposure. During 1973 and 1974, 268 men were studied. Chest radiographs were done and showed no mass lesions. Sputum was collected on three consecutive days and analyzed. There were 12 men with malignant sputum, all of the squamous cell variety. Two refused any investigation, one presenting 31/2 years later with extensive hronchogenic carcinoma, and the other 5 years later with extensive carcinoma of the maxillary sinus. In the remaining ten patients careful rhinolaryngeal examination as well as a detailed bronchoscopy, involving examination, brushings and biopsy of all pulmonary segments was carried out. One patient was found to have laryngeal carcinoma and was treated by radiation. In nine patients, the malignancy was localized to the lung, leading to six lobectomies, two pneumonectomies and one sleeve lobectomy at operation. However, the follow-up in these cases suggests a different biological behaviour with these industrially related tumours. While no tumour has recurred locally, one patient has died of metastatic cancer and two patients have developed second and one patient a third pulmonary primary cancer. However, survival has still been much better than wits radiographically manifest lung cancer. "INTRODUCTION What is the primary responsibility for geo-engineers in mining? Early in my career, I was asked this question by an experienced engineer. After explaining some various tasks, I was informed that the main responsibility was to monitor. Although this proved true for many cases, I came to understand that monitoring is merely one means to achieve the primary responsibility of a geo-engineer – ensure the safety of all personnel. The potential for groundwater to impact stability allows this responsibility to be shared with hydrogeologists as well. Inherently, we monitor to identify risks; we analyze designs and develop models to mitigate risks; and we are provided opportunities to explain to supervisors the geo-risks to personnel and mine plans that will result from particular courses of action. A couple years ago, I took an opportunity to share experiences from the first several years of my career as a geotechnical engineer with junior geo-engineering staff within my company. The intent was to share situations that were a part of my development, so they could learn and understand their responsibility to the safety of all personnel. Similarly, the purpose of this paper will be to share these thoughts with new geo-engineers in the industry in order to help prepare them for the challenges they will face. WHAT IS OUR PURPOSE? A senior hydrogeologist shared an experience that occurred in their career. The experienced hydrogeologist had spent some time with the hydrogeology staff, most of them relatively new to the mining industry, to understand how they viewed, and carried out, what they perceived as their responsibility at an active mining operation. After a couple months of observing and mentoring, the senior hydrogeologist met with everyone and posed the question above. I am sure that most junior geo-engineers would start explaining different tasks or projects that they must complete. The list would include monitor groundwater levels, track slope movement, evaluate designs, build models, oversee drilling programs, etc. These individuals did as well their supervisor. After going around the room allowing each individual to answer, the experienced hydrogeologist provided them the real answer to the question: SAFETY. If you examine the root intent of nearly every responsibility geotechnical engineers and hydrogeologists have, it is to apply our professional skills to ensure the safety of our workforce. When the objective of safety from the geotechnical and hydrogeology disciplines is achieved, inherently accomplishing the mine plan should follow suit, or it should significantly minimize the impact by gravity or groundwater. The objective of a hydrogeologist is to ensure the soil or rock around an open pit or underground mine is dewatered; this specific objective will reduce pore pressures which could lead to a possible ground failure. They ensure a working bench/UG level is dry, so operations are not dealing with adverse conditions while mining. A geotechnical engineer is expected to use all available information and engineering judgement to provide design recommendations, so that the mine will not catastrophically fail. Additionally, they will implement the monitoring systems to identify hazards in advance in the event that the design is flawed and people need to be evacuated. We all know that safety is important to everyone; however, our particular set of technical skills play a significant role in ensuring the safety of a large portion of the global mining workforce."
