The extraction of nickel (Ni) and cobalt (Co) from the laterite deposit of Ramu nickel-cobalt Project in Papua New Guinea was performed in this study. Chemical analysis by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP-AES) atomic emission spectrometer, SPS-3000 (Seiko Instruments (Inc.), shows the ore contains 48% Fe, 1% Ni, 0.1% Co, 1.8% Al, 0.14% Mg, and 0.8% Mn. Characterization by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of the laterite ore obtained from the mine site shows the ore contains 70 to 80% goethite (FeOOH), assuming Fe content of 48% is mainly from geothite. The main leaching parameters investigated include; slurry temperature, leaching time and sulphuric acid (H2SO4) concentration to evaluate nickel and cobalt extraction. For all experiments, 10g batch samples are put into 300 ml beaker containing 100 ml of sulphuric acid of varying concentrations (1M, 2M, 4M). During the leaching period, 5 ml slurry samples are withdrawn at different times and filtered to obtain filtrate for ICP analysis to monitor nickel and cobalt extraction. Solid samples at the end of all tests are also obtained by filtration and after drying, XRD and ICP tests are performed to monitor nickel and cobalt contents. According to the test results performed at normal atmospheric pressure, over 99% of nickel and over 50% cobalt were extracted into solution within 120 min at 95ºC in 2M H2SO4 solution. Similar results were obtained when only temperature was reduced to 90ºC, but cobalt extraction increased to over 70% when leaching time was increased to 240 min. Further reduction in temperature to 80 and 60ºC resulted in reduction of nickel and cobalt extraction. At the end of each leaching test, magnetite was seen to attach to magnetic stirrer. Metal oxide nano-particles are used as additives in various industrial applications such as pigments in paints, additives in adhesives, plastics, cosmetics, functional coatings, personal care and health care products, for antibacterial applications and more recently in heat transfer applications. In most of these applications, usually dry nano-particle powders are added to the formulations. However, often it becomes difficult to achieve a uniform and stable dispersion of nano-particles in the given formulation. Thus, a scalable and commercially viable process for in-situ production of stable nano-particles suspensions in the desired medium will certainly be more beneficial. Ultra-fine grinding in high energy mills (planetary mill, stirred media mill) has been used to produce fine particles (sub-micron size). However, in order to obtain nano-particles (particle size <100 nm), the choice of appropriate dispersant and solvent is crucial, since freshly generated nano-particles tend to agglomerate due to their high surface reactivity. We have employed molecular modeling (MM) based selection methodology to arrive at the most suitable solvent?dispersant combination for preparation of the given metal oxide nano-particles. Molecular modeling techniques are employed to compute the interaction energy of a given dispersant with surface of the metal oxide particles in the presence of the dispersion medium. The interaction energy helps identify a dispersant that has strong affinity for the metal oxide surfaces allowing for strong dispersant adsorption and hence a more stable dispersion. For example, in case of aqueous nano-titania suspensions, poly-carboxylic acids like citric acid provide better dispersion than mono-carboxylic acids like lauric acid, mysristic acid, and oleic acid. While in non-aqueous medium like ethanol, p-hydroxybenzoic acid and glycerol trioleate perform better. The suspension is produced in-situ by ultra-fine grinding of the metal oxide powder in the presence of the selected dispersant and dispersion medium in a planetary ball mill. By careful selection of various process parameters such as percent loading of powder, jar filling, grinding media to powder ratio, time and amount of dispersant addition, both aqueous and non-aqueous suspensions of metal oxide nano-particles with average particle size less than 100 nm are produced. The aqueous suspensions of alumina and titania produced in presence of citric acid dispersant exhibit median particle size of 83 and 62 nm, respectively. These suspensions have been found to be stable for nearly 3 years. The nano-particles thus produced are used in the preparation of nano-fluids?advance heat transfer liquids, which show enhanced heat transfer capabilities and unaltered stability and performance even after several heating-cooling cycles. The nano-particles are also utilized for making efficient photo catalysts, which are found to be highly effective under sunlight. Ore breakage characterization plays an essential role in the design and optimization of comminution circuits. Recently, the JKMRC comminution research team has developed a Rotary Breakage Tester (JKRBT). The JKRBT uses a rotor-stator impacting system, in which particles gain a con-trolled kinetic energy and are impacted against the stator, causing particle breakage. The first unit of industrialised JKRBT was installed at the Anglo Research in South Africa in March 2007, and five more JKRBTs are currently being fabricated for some of the world?s major mining companies. In addition to the JKRBT, an improved breakage model has been developed at the JKMRC, which more accurately describes the effect of specific energy, particle size and incremental breakage caused by repetitive impacts. The validation outcomes show that the JKRBT, together with the new breakage model, generate statistically similar breakage parameters to the traditional drop weight tester (DWT), but with significant advantages over its predecessor. The limitations of the DWT, specifically its lack of precision of the energy input, the lengthy time required to run individual tests and the challenges en-countered in testing small particles, have all been overcome by the JKRBT. The recent developments in the JKRBT and the new breakage model offer several prospective applications. These developments have the potential to revolutionize the ore breakage characterization in the years to come.

The Republic of Tajikistan has large mercury-antimony deposit. The Republic takes the second place in the countries of the CIS by having antimony recourses or the fourth place in the world. Recently, on the mine bottom horizons the resources of gold were found. Gold in the data ore is submitted as nanosize particles. Results of ores enrichment of bottom horizons of Djijikrut deposit are obtained by a method of flotation. The flow sheet includes the rougher flotation, two scavenging flotation and two cleaner flotation. As a result of enrichment of ore, the mercury-antimony concentrate with the contents of 51.5% of antimony and recovery 90.3% from ore with the content of mercury of 3.5% was received. The investigation of thallium, selenium, and tellurium distributions on products of enrichment was carried out. The most effective reagents are a mixture of oksafore and butyl xanthogenate. While applying this mixture of reagents it is possible to refuse of the use of activator - nitrate lead. The behavior of gold is in details investigated during enrichment. To collective flotation concentrate is extracted only 30% of gold. The basic quantity of gold concentrates in tailings of flotation and is not taken by existing traditional methods. The alternative innovative technology of gold extraction was created. Various methods of roasting of a collective mercury - antimony concentrate oxidizing and reducing are investigated. Vacuum distillation of concentrate allocation in serial sublimates mercury and antimony was designed. In the received calcine concentrates gold. At additional roasting of a calcine up to 900°? concentration of gold makes 30.6 g/t. The offered innovational technology in a complex allows to process ores and concentrates unique mercury-antimony?gold bearing raw material. The study of synergistic reagents combination of mineral floatation is more and more important with the decreasing of bonanzas now. In order to determine the chemical reaction mechanism, here we present the synergistic reagents combination: amyl-xanthate, butyl-dithiophosphate and N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate ester, which dissolved by different organic solvents. The reagents were applied by an Anhui mine to float low-grade covellite as a substitute for ethyl-xanthate. One reaction products Na2HPSO3?5H2O (disodium hydrogen-thiophosphate pentahydrate) which was re-crystalized and measured by X-ray diffraction analysis. In its crystal structure, the two crystallo-graphically different Na ions are six-coordinated and are bridged by two covalent bonds with the O atoms of water molecules to give a basket unit. However, we can?t get Na2HPSO3?5 H2O by combining butyl-dithiophosphate and N,N-diethyldithiocarbamate ester under the same condition. This discovery may provides a intuitionistic evidence that in the process of reaction, the three com-pounds would cooperate with each other, but the decisive reaction may be the hydrolyzation of amyl-xanthate.

A new porous apatite product was prepared using phosphorite from Yichang China by a tem-plate-directed method in self-made reaction equipment under constant temperature and pressure. The product was characterized by XRD, FT-IR and SEM. The results showed that the product was a kind of micrometer porous sphere three-dimensionally structured by apatite nanoflakes, that the average thickness of nanoflakes was about 50 nm, that the average pore size was about 1.2 µm and that the particle average size was about 20 µm. Great amounts of Ca2+channel, high special surface area and regular spherical shape show the potential promising applications of this special porous apatite product in the fields of catalyst, medication, chemical engineering and environment engineering

Recent increase in steel demand has led to the increased usage of high grade iron ores. During the mining, crushing and washing of ore, huge quantities of fines and slimes (<150 µm) are generated, majority of which is dumped into tailing ponds owing to their high alumina contents (~10-15%). Due to rapid depletion of high grade iron ore, it is the need of the hour to utilize low grade iron ore fines and slimes. These fines and slimes contain high iron values assaying 45-60% Fe. Dumping these valuable resources in ponds locks enormous land space and causes environmental hazards. The constituent minerals present in Indian iron ores comprise of hematite, goethite, gibbsite, kaolinite and quartz. Our research is focused on beneficiation of iron ore slimes through selective flocculation. We use density functional theory simulations to screen the reagents and perform experiments with screened reagents to determine the experimental conditions for effective performance of the reagents. Our studies revealed that reagents like starch, guar gum and carboxymethyl cellulose exhibit excellent selectivity in high alkaline pH range. However, the higher cost of alkali makes the process economically less attractive. In the present study, a commercial reagent from NALCO Water (Hi-Tex 83570) has been explored as selective flocculant for beneficiation of iron ore slimes in wide pH range (4-11). However, the reagent was also found to be the most selective in alkaline pH range only. Full factorial design of experiments was done considering three parameters namely, pulp density, flocculant dosage and settling time. Regression models were developed for yield, iron grade, alumina grade and iron recovery in the concentrate, using experimental results. Further parameter optimization was done to achieve high Fe recoveries and low alumina recoveries. The optimal parameters thus arrived at were validated with the experiments. We were able to achieve a concentrate grade of 60.0% Fe and 5.1% Al2O3 with 68.8% Fe recovery from a feed containing of 53.1% Fe and 8.9% Al2O3. The performance of flocculant Hi-Tex 83570 was also compared with reagents starch and guar gum.

"The purpose of this research is providing a flotation process for recovery of lead in lead silver residues from a zinc smelting plant with a new hydroximic acid collector (HOC). The collecting ability and reaction mechanisms of HOC were investigated based on pure mineral flotation tests and analysis of zeta potential. The pure anglesite flotation tests showed that HOC has a good collecting ability for anglesite. Zeta potential measurements proved that HOC adsorbed on anglesite surface physically and chemically. The lead-silver residues in a zinc smelting plant with lead grade about 17.5% was used as raw material for flotation tests. The results showed that under the conditions of pH adjusting agent lime 500g/t, inhibitors sodium silicate 2000g/t, collector HOC 1500g/t, frother alcohol oil 75g/t, the grade of the lead concentrate can be reach 47.18% and the recovery was 76.39% by one roughing-one scavenging-three cleaning and middles back to the flow-sheet in turn after the lead-silver residues were washed by two stages of cleaning-filtration.INTRODUCTION Nowadays, with the increasing exploitation of natural mineral resources, more and more secondary resources should be researched and used for the valuable metals. Hydrometallurgical zinc leaching residues, which contain a considerable amount of zinc, lead, silver and other minor valuable constituents, is a typical and abundant secondary resources (Zhang et al., 2011). A huge quantity of zinc leaching residues (ZLR) had been produced per year (Jiang et al., 2017).This residues not only occupy precious land but also threaten the environment because of the dissolved heavy metals especially in rainy days (Han et al., 2014). Consequently, it is urgent to develop an effective and clean method to dispose this residues which can benefit not only in economical but also in environmental (Jha et al., 2001)."

Fly-ash was used as adsorbent to remove butyl xanthate from aqueous solution in this study. Adsorption kinetics investigation reveals that the adsorption process abides by the Lagergren-second-order Kinetic Model, and fine fly-ash prepared by grinding has a higher second-order adsorption rate as 1.25 g/mg?min and a higher saturated adsorption amount as 10.92mg/g. Four influencing factors as adsorption temperature, solution pH, consumption of fly-ash and adsorption time were investigated. Testing results indicate that butyl xanthate removal rates declines slightly with the temperature increase within the range of 15-50?, increases slightly when pH rises from 7.27 to 8.01 and then declines from 99.65% to 98.25% when pH rises from 8.01 to 11.10. An enhancement of removal rates can be observed by increasing the consumption of the adsorbing agent or prolonging the adsorption time. Thermal desorption was adopted to regenerate the used fly-ash, and test results show that fly-ash possess good regeneration performance and could be used as adsorbent repeatedly with little influence on the adsorption capacity.

"Fe-Ti oxides concentrates produced from heavy mineral sand deposits are widely used for the production of titanium dioxide pigments that are critical components of white paint, plastics and paper. According to mining industry, the Fe-Ti concentrates mostly consists of three phases: ilmenite, leucoxene and rutile. However, a few mineralogical studies have shown that the variety of Fe-Ti oxides found in sand deposits is far more complex, mostly due to alteration processes. The aim of this contribution is to characterize in detail by means of Qemscan analyses the mineralogy of the three main concentrates (ilmenite, leucoxene and rutile) produced by the Grande Côte Operation (GCO) mineralurgical plant in Senegal. The ultimate goal is to characterize the different products and textures formed during the natural ilmenite alteration processes, to localize the phases carrying the main impurities (Cr and P), and finally to determine the physical properties of each mineral component to improve metal recoveries. Along alteration processes, Ti content increase. Ilmenite (FeTiO3) is progressively transformed into pseudorutile (Fe2Ti3O9) particles which could also be altered and transformed into hydroxylian pseudorutile [FeTi6O12(OH)3.3H2O] or complex blends of anatase microcrystals (TiO2). These transformations are accompanied by significant changes in particle textures. Microporosity and fractures appear and the impurity content also increases. Anatase rich microcrystal assemblages, so far described as Leucoxene, could be identified to consist of grains with higher porosities, water contents and higher intrapore impurities. These particles are the main carriers of chromium and phosphorus. The observed mineral transition textures have a significant impact on the ore dressing processes. During these transformations, the physical properties of these phases change, the magnetic susceptibility as well as densities decreases, due to the increase in porosity. The separation of particles, especially those with high porosity will help improving the GCO mineralurgical plant performance and to reduce the impurity contents in finals products."

The Cu-Co ore studied here belongs to the oxide type. The oxidation rates of copper and cobalt are69.30% and 78.78%, respectively. The content of Cu in ROM is 1.34% and that of Co is 0.096%. The ore contains 4.64% carbon.Based on the process mineralogy and previous metallurgy tests, the principalprocess flow-sheet of ?grinding fines 80% -0.074mm, sulphide flotation followed by oxide flotation, and flash flotation for oxides? has been determined.The handling of carbon is determined through tests. The depressant PNL-1 depressed carbon effectively, improved the recovery of sulphide minerals and reduced the reagents consumption.The operation of the flow-sheet was also changed to better at the same time. The process of liquid?liquid extraction of gold from chloride solution is complicated by the presence of many variables acting simultaneously in an unknown non-linear fashion for the determination of the final extraction efficiency. In practice, it is quite difficult to develop a model for predicting various properties of such process. Therefore, an alternative approach based on Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is considered to assist in the simulation process. Artificial neural networks (ANN) are powerful tools that can be used to model and investigate various highly complex and non-linear phenomena. This paper presents application of Multi-Layer Perceptions (MLP) to construct relationship that will be employed to develop a quantitative method for the estimation of the extraction efficiency as a function of hydrodynamical parameters such as stirrer speed, [AuCl4]- and DBC concentration, organic and aqueous flow rate. The model is shown to be in excellent agreement with the experimental data (R2 value for training and testing data was 0.9992 and 0.9915 respectively). Therefore, it can be used to optimize the parameters of liquid?liquid gold extraction with dibutyl carbitol (DBC).

"The froth ability, froth stability and the froth structure are strong influences in flotation process i.e. on water recovery, bubble size, entrainment of gangue particle, flotation rate constants, grade and recovery. The labscale flotation of rich apatite ore with a high mass pull leads to significant changes in pulp and froth properties over time. The froth stability decreases with increasing the flotation time. These changes can be related to different solid contents, reagent concentration, froth heights and bubble size distributions. This study presents the results from froth studies and discussions on the particle size of fully liberated silicates and degree of entrainment based on automated mineralogy size-by-size analysis. The change of entrainment in a rich apatite ore batch flotation with time will describe more precisely by measuring froth properties using a Dynamic Foam Analyzer. It is concluded that the degree of entrainment is not only dependent on particle size but also the pulp density due to its effect on particle settling and also froth properties in varying resistance to particle drainage. Furthermore, entrainment models are applied to predict the effect of size, flotation time on entrainmentINTRODUCTIONFroth flotation belongs to the group of heterocoagulation separation techniques. Froth flotation is classically divided into two active zones, the pulp zone (where particle collection occurs) and the froth zone. A schematics drawing of the interaction between both zones is plotted in Figure 18 (Yianatos and Contreras, 2010). In froth flotation, the collision probability in the collection zone is governed by the physics of the process or hydrodynamics (Wills and Finch, 2016). The true flotation event in the pulp occurs when the hydrophobic valuable mineral particles collide with bubbles and formation of a stable particle-bubble aggregates moving upwards against gravity to the froth phase (Yianatos et al., 2009)."

Most of the coal reserves in India are of drift origin and have very poor washability characteristics and a high level of near gravity materials. At least 30 new coal wash plants are expected to be set up in the next 5years.In such a scenario, adequate sampling followed by sink float test work for washability analysis becomes very critical for designing these new plants. For coal sampling purpose, stipulations of different standards are sometimes formidable and on the border of ?impracticality?; sometimes are self contradictory in terms of gross sample weight vis-a-vis minimum number of particles required in each size fraction and in each relative density fraction and also the minimum mass in the latter. Validation of the generated data is another important aspect of washability analysis. These issues can easily be addressed by using straight forward mathematical relationships, well known RR plots and by using simple MS Excel tool, etc.

Several approaches to the estimation of the size discrete breakage rate and distribution parameters (kj and bi,j ) of the batch grinding kinetic model are available in the literature. Analysis of a large amount of data available in the literature and our own data on several pure minerals and complex ores has shown that it is not always possible to obtain correct estimates of the two sets of parameters using known approaches as several widely different combinations of k and b parameters can sometimes simulate the batch grinding data reasonably accurately. It has been found that there are two main reasons: (i) all size classes are not well represented in the data and (ii) functional forms used for estimation of the two sets of parameters are sometimes chosen somewhat arbitrarily (especially in the case of complex ores), though they are actually uniquely related through size continuous breakage rate and distribution functions. A suitable experimental methodology has been described and demonstrated using some synthetic data and actual experimental data. A mill function approach, which does not require making any assumptions about the functional forms for k and b parameters, is also described and demonstrated. This approach is promising, but requires further development.

"Relating flotation performance to the electrochemical characteristics of a pulp is complex both in fundamental research and in practice. In the case of thiol collectors, different Eh values in the flotation system can result in the formation of the dimer or the metal thiolate which may or may not enhance the hydrophobicity of the mineral. Reducing or oxidizing conditions in a flotation system, viz. changing the Eh value, are usually manipulated to achieve an optimum flotation response by control of pH and dissolved oxygen levels in the system. A variation in pulp potential may also be achieved by the addition of potential modifiers such as sodium hydrosulphide (NaHS), sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) or hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). There exists anecdotal evidence which suggests that the addition of small amounts of H2O2 to the flotation process can improve sulphide mineral recovery. The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of the addition of the potential modifier, H2O2, on sulphide mineral recoveries and grades in the flotation of sulphide minerals from two copper bearing ores from China and compare the results to those obtained for a PGM bearing ore South Africa. Batch flotation tests were conducted using the three different ores at the natural pH of the different systems, in the presence of a xanthate collector and the absence and presence of H2O2 as a potential modifier. The results indicate that the addition of carefully controlled low concentrations of H2O2 resulted in improvements in flotation performance. INTRODUCTIONElectrochemical potential as a control parameter in the flotation of sulphide minerals has been widely studied (Allison et al., 1972; Gardner and Woods, 1979; Ross and Van Deventer, 1985; Chander, 2003; Woods, 2003; Javadi, 2013). There is concensus that in order to be recovered during flotation, sulphide minerals require a suitable redox environment. During the flotation process thiol collectors and sulphide minerals are involved in electrochemical reactions which result in the formation of hydrophobic species at the mineral surface (Finkelstein and Goold, 1972; Rand and Woods, 1984). Sulphide minerals act as semiconductors and electrons are transferred during the interaction of the mineral with collector. The resultant potential difference and its magnitude are responsible for the transfer of electrons and the rate of the reaction (Bard and Faulkner, 2001; Fuerstenau et al., 2007). Reducing or oxidizing conditions in a flotation system, viz. changing the Eh value, may be manipulated to achieve an optimum flotation response by control of pH and dissolved oxygen levels in the system (Heyes and Trahar, 1979). The use of potential modifiers viz. reducing or oxidizing agents which include H2O2, NaClO, and NaHS, is an alternative method by which to control the potential of the pulp in a flotation system which may or may not promote the flotation of desired minerals (Rao, 2004). The oxidizing agent, H2O2, undergoes a cathodic reaction which can result in the enhanced flotation of valuable minerals. The potential of the system is increased which results in a shift in the mixed potential of a mineral. The magnitude of the over-potential influences the rate of the oxidation process and thus the flotation response of sulphide minerals (Kocabag and Guler, 2008). Equation 1 shows the proposed oxidation of xanthate by H2O2 (Lipkina and Streltysn, 1970)."

At the regrind or secondary grinding stages of base metal ores, the concern about energy efficiency is usually extremely important. In general, the specific energy consumption at this stage is higher than during the primary grinding stages. In addition, a tendency of finer grinding has been observed in the new projects of metallic minerals, due to the finer mineral liberation, which leads to increasing capital and operational costs. At Vale?s new copper projects in Brazil, regrind sizes with a P80 of approximately 40 to 20 µm have been necessary. Conventional ball mills, adequate for primary grinding, usually bring about low energy efficiency with products bellow 50 µm. Vale is using the vertical mill on its copper projects ? Sossego and Salobo, in order to optimize the regrind of rougher concentrates and reduce energy consumption. This paper presents the results of industrial surveys carried out on the Vertical mill circuits of Sossego plant during its initial years of operation, and compares these results with the design criteria and laboratory regrind tests used for the mill scale up. "South Africa is the world?s second largest producer of titanium bearing minerals, but apart from producing titanium mineral concentrate to form TiO2 slag, little further value is added in South Africa to mined minerals. Various studies were undertaken by both government and the private sector in an un-coordinated manner until 2007 when the South African Department of Science and Technology (DST) planned and adopted a national strategy to establish a local titanium metal industry through the research and development of key technologies that would provide a competitive advantage to such a local industry. The strategy entailed a two-pronged approach in the development of this capability, viz. simultaneous investments in the development of high-level human capital and technology in the fields of titanium metal powder production and downstream titanium metal powder processing technologies. To date significant progress has been made to establish research and/or pilot scale facilities in the following technical areas: TiCl4 production technology, titanium powder production technology, high energy milling of titanium powder, metal injection moulding facilities, rapid production of large components using laser additive manufacturing technology, investment casting of titanium, resource efficient machining of titanium and friction stir welding of titanium. Supporting technologies are also at an advanced stage through investments in titanium powder spheroidization and direct rolling of titanium powder. The intent with investment in some of these areas is not to develop new technology per se, but rather to establish local capability that will position South Africa to collaborate with other organisations in the world so that technologies can be acquired and transferred when needed in the future."

The alteration of surface properties of chalcopyrite after biological conditioning with Leptospirillum ferriphilum was studied by adsorption, zeta-potential, contact angle and bioleaching tests. The strains of L. ferriphilum cultured using different energy sources (either soluble ferrous ion or chalcopyrite) were used. The adhesion of bacteria to the chalcopyrite surface was a fast process. Additionally, the adsorption of substrate-grown bacteria was greater and faster than that of liquid-grown ones. The isoelectric point (IEP) of chalcopyrite moved toward that of pure L. ferriphilum after conditioning with bacteria. The chalcopyrite contact angle curves motioned diversely in the 9K culture with and without chalcopyrite powders. The results of X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis indicated that in the bioleaching process by L. ferriphilum, the surface of chalcopyrite was covered with sulfur and jarosite. Furthermore, iron phase dissolved preferentially from chalcopyrite surface during bioleaching from EDS detection. The copper extraction was low resulting from the formation of a passivation layer. The major component of the passivation layer that blocked continuous copper extraction was sulfur, not jarosite.

Due to not to being our own sources, some energy sources such as oil and natural gas which are used frequently, are not reliable energy sources for our country. Coal is an important energy source that Turkey also has a certain reserve as many countries have. To be able to use for many years the reserves of this source that comes from fossils, there is a great need to make more investigation and development activities on it. On behalf of using more productively the current sources, briquetting facility is represented that commenced production in The Aegean Lignite Establishment in 2005 which is in Manisa, Soma. This facility is a part of General Directorate of Turkish Coal. This facility is run by Soma Coal Establishment that works in return for royalty in a licensed field that belongs to TKI. As the demand of market for 0.5 mm dust coal diminishes, we had to accumulate and stock unmerchantable dust coal. Besides, we have intermixed 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal obtained as a result of washing in coal washer with thermic coal with low price as we could not find a client in the market. In this study, the production stages of briquette coal with high quality produced as a result of pressing by mixing 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal with molasse and lime, quality control, and data?s obtained about calories and solidity of products were presented. By briquetting of 0.5- 1 mm powder coal and 0.1 ? 0.5 mm fine powder coal washed in coal washer, it became possible to sell these coals on a high unit price and by providing the demand of coal of the market, we contributed to productivity of our firm.
