"In pre-design a flotation plant copper sulphide is useful to apply a simplified methodology of economic analysis that relates the size of the grinding product (P80) with the throughput and their effect on copper grade and recovery of copper in the final concentrate of a flotation circuit. With this objective, this methodology covers the following analysis, perform by evaluation of five sizes grinding products (P80): 120, 150, 180, 210 and 240 microns. • Flotation testwork (rougher kinetic, open and closed cycle test) has been done to determinate the optimum operating conditions and to estimate the maximum recovery of copper in the concentrate, using Klimpell model • Flotation plant design assumes a conminution product obtained from a 25,000 HP ball mill • Metallurgical balance is performed for the circuit based on flotation testwork • Economic evaluation by calculating capital expenditure (CAPEX), operating expenditure (OPEX) and sales revenue, to determine NPV is performed and relates to the NPV. An optimum grind size is then obtained based on cash flow. The results shows a grinding product size that optimizes flotation and allows a higher NPV and INPV over other alternatives."

"The Irkutsk region is a raw material region. There are a lot of big enterprises for extraction and processing of oil, gas, coal, iron, gold and rock salt. Besides of it, refractory clays, limestone, mica, gypsum and talc are mined in the region. The most important type of mineral raw material is a gold. More than 8.5% of the total mining in the Russian Federation is extracted in Irkutsk region. It is about 0.7% of the world production. The environmental problems of mining and processing enterprises are a complex set of issues that requires of the searching of effective methods to be solved. One of the key environmental problems remains the reduction of waste generation and the introduction of environmentally safe waste management. After analysing different methods of environmental impact assessment it is established that the method of Life Cycle Assessment is one of the most effective methods for mining production. This method base? on the material balance of flows of raw materials, products and waste. The method of Life Cycle Assessment allows to identify the effects of environmental pollution under the influence of mining and processing at a quantitative level and to show real quantitative forecasts of the possibility of managing the flows of raw materials and waste.INTRODUCTION The Irkutsk region is a raw material region. Consequently, an increase in the volume of processing is expected. The main projects are the construction of a new mill of the Mining and processing plant GOK “Vysochaishy” with a capacity of 2.6 million tonnes of ore per year; the development of the “Uhakhan” gold-field - 23 km from the “Goltsa Vysochaishy” gold-field; the opening in the Bodaibo region the next parts of the gold-deposit ""Pervenets"". The precipitation of a selection of metals from both a synthetic and an actual metal-rich effluent was investigated. The experimental aspects of this study were carried out in a two-stage process consisting of a pre-treatment clarifier and a fluidised bed (pellet) reactor. Each unit operation in the two-stage process was investigated separately. The pre-treatment clarification stage at pH ˜ 5 resulted in a 99.9% removal of iron and 97.3% removal of aluminium. The pellet reactor was used to precipitate nickel as nickel carbonate from a pure stream and a removal efficiency of 99.6% was achieved. The high local supersaturation at the reagent inlet points caused the formation of a large amount of fines, but these agglomerated onto the pellets up the length of the bed. For copper precipitated as copper sulphide from a pure stream, a maximum removal efficiency of 92% was achieved. The high local supersaturation at the reagent inlets also caused the formation of a large amount of fines, but the extremely sparingly soluble nature of copper sulphide meant that the fines were not agglomerated up the length of the bed. For removal of cobalt as cobalt carbonate from an actual stream, a stable cobalt removal of only 60% was achieved. This was found to be due to the presence of magnesium, which reduced the cobalt precipitation efficiency through the formation of the magnesium bicarbonate ion.

Recent results from electrochemical measurements demonstrate that trithiocarbonate (TTC) collectors are more readily oxidized to their corresponding dithiolates than the dithiocarbonate/xanthate (DTC) collectors. Based on the traditional analysis of collector adsorption, trithiocarbonates might then be expected to be effective for bulk sulfide mineral flotation. Previous bench-scale flotation research had shown that TTC collectors are very effective for the flotation of copper sulfide minerals and PGM (platinum group metal) sulfide minerals. More recently, the TTC collectors were evaluated for auriferous pyrite recovery in benchscale plant scale flotation testing in the United States and in plant tests at Anglogold in South Africa. TTC collectors were also applied in bench-scale testing of a PGM ore. In each case an improved separation efficiency was realized. Fundamental studies at the University of Utah examining the effect of collector structure (functional group, -O-CS2 versus .S-CS2), specifically with respect to auriferous pyrite flotation, are in progress. The effect of collector structure was evaluated with air as well as nitrogen as the flotation gas medium. Experimental techniques utilized included electrochemically controlled contact angle measurements to evaluate mineral hydrophobicity and infrared spectroscopy to explain collector adsorption phenomena at the mineral surface.

The paper elaborates on the significance of producing ultra-low-moisture ore concentrate, the operating principle and technical features of thermocompression- filtration process, the kinetics involved in the dewatering process, and the technological process system and equipment used. It is pointed out that it is possible to reduce the moisture of fine ore concentrate to a minimum. By way of example, the case of the treatment of flotation molybdenum (Mo) using the thermocompression- filtration process is cited.

Minerals in coals cause operational problems in various coal utilization technology as well as act as diluents towards its heat value. Indian coals contain higher percentage of mineral matter compared to foreign coals due to its formation through drift origin. Efficient utilization of high ash coal in environment friendly manner is the driving force for the development of clean coal technology. Coal gasification offers practical means meeting stringent environment controlled parameters for producing power, chemicals, liquid fuels and clean energy on a single platform. It is well accepted that gasification technology has sufficient potential for sustainable development of clean coal technology. Gasification reactivity depends on the coal properties and operational parameters as well as minerals present in coal. Minerals not only create operational problems but on the other side also catalyze the gasification and combustion reaction. Therefore to understand the effect of minerals on the gasification reactivity, present paper proposes to study the variation of gasification reactivity with various gravity cuts such as, 1.4-1.5; 1.6-1.7; and 1.8-1.9 of a selected coal. Gasification reactivity has been studied by thermo gravimetric analyzer (TGA) using CO2 as gasifying agent. Surface properties such as, true density, apparent density, porosity, surface area of different gravity cut samples have also been measured to find out the effect of gravity separation on gasification reactivity. In flotation, particulate materials are separated by controlling the hydrophobicity of the particles using appropriate collectors. In this regard, contact angle (?) is the most important process variable. However, the flotation models used in industry today do not include ? as a parameter. As result, flotation circuits are designed based on the first-order flotation rate constants (k) determined from laboratory experiments. A problem with this approach is that laboratory experiments usually give substantially higher k values than achievable in full-scale operations, which makes it difficult to use the model for plant design. In the present work, we have developed a model from first principles using both surface chemistry and hydrodynamic parameters, such as ?, ?-potentials, surface tension (?), particle size, energy dissipation rate, etc. The basic approach is similar to the one developed previously for bubble-particle interactions under laminar flow conditions (Yoon and Mao, J. Colloid and Interface Science, 181, 61, 1996) except that the model parameters have been modified by considering the turbulence in a flotation cell. In addition, the model describes the recovery processes in froth phase, including bubble-coarsening due to coalescence. Based on this model, we have developed a computer simulator (FlotSim) that can be used to design flotation circuits from the mineralogical (or liberation) data on the feed and the hydrodynamic characteristics of a flotation machine. Since the model is dynamic, it can also be used for process control. Further, the simulator has predictive capacity as it is based on a first-principles model. The model-based simulator has been validated in a carefully controlled bench-scale flotation experiments. "With continuous mining industry development and dressing plant scale expansion, flotation cell is developed towards to large scale and intelligence. Based on flotation cell scale-up theory and industrial practice, KYF-320 air-forced mechanical flotation cell with effective volume of 320m3 was successfully developed by Beijing General Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (BGRIMM) and adopted by China Gold Inner Mongolia Mining Co., Ltd, Luming project of China Railway Resource Group Co., Ltd, and Toromocho project of Chinalco in Peru. In this paper, the structure and technical characteristics of KYF-320 flotation cell are introduced, and the application of that equipment in China Gold Inner Mongolia Mining Co., LTD is demonstrated. The tank of KYF-320 flotation cell is cylinder-shaped, 8200mm in diameter and 7500mm high, with double froth lauders and large inclined angle cone bottom. 16 sets of KYF-320 flotation cells of which the processing capacity is 26,000,000 tons/a, are used in the second phase project of China Gold Inner Mongolia Mining Co., LTD. Their stable running shows the long life of impeller and stator and the power intensity (power consumption divided by effective volume of flotation cell) of KYF-320 flotation cell is only 0.73kW/m3 which is significantly less than that of small scale flotation cells. The industrial production obtains good results that the Cu grade of final concentrate of entire flotation circuit is 22.90% at the recovery of 86.73%, when Cu grade of feed is 0.35%, which indicates that KYF-320 flotation cell has good performance and can be widely used in large scale mine."

It is therefore surprising that during this time there were no published models for predicting grinding mill power draw which were validated using a wide range of comprehensive industrial scale data.Notwithstanding this lack of data, the majority of models placed limited emphasis on the internal dynamics of mills and relied on simple assumptions which considered the charge to take up a fixed position and shape.Laboratory based studies (Liddell, 1986), and industrial data (Morrell, 1993), showed that these assumptions did not hold over a wide range of operating conditions, and brought into doubt the ability of the (then) existing models to accurately predict grinding mill power draw. Furthermore no model treated AG,SAG and ball mills as a single class of devices whose power draw could be predicted with the same equations.Through a detailed investigation of the charge dynamics, coupled with a large data base of industrial mill power draws, this situation was rectified by the end of the century, by which time a model had been developed and validated, which accurately predicted the power draw of all wet tumbling mills. This paper describes this model and reviews some of the earlier attempts at mill power modelling."

This deficiency consequently limited the practical application of many of the attempts at modelling mill power draw. Prior to the early 1990?s some limited data on the power draw of grinding mills in the literature can be found, but as Harris et al (1985) remarked they are ?... too frequently unusable simply because one or more essential variables have been omitted?. The absence of published results, from vigorous experimental testing of the various models, has resulted in a general lack of evaluation of the validity of assumptions and hypotheses that such models contain. Harris et al (1985) however, did make some efforts in attempting to evaluate the performance of various power prediction equations and in so doing further developed a semi-empirical one of their own. However, in using manufacturers? published data, which themselves were undoubtedly generated by proprietary equations of unproven validity, they probably succeeded in generating little more than a consensus of the various errors in these models."

Polymetallic sea nodule is a good source of manganese having 22.3% Mn, 5.4% Fe, 6.14% Si, 1.1% Cu, 1.15% Ni, 0.076% Co & others. These nodules are available in plenty on the sea beds, generated over thousands of years. Nodules mainly consist of manganese dioxide and iron oxide phases and other metals are entrapped in the complex cage of these Mn-Fe oxides phases.World-wide research is going on sea nodules as an alternative future source of many metals, which has led to intensified efforts to develop practical and economical processes for recovery of these metals. Very little attempt has been made world over on manganese extraction from sea nodules. We at CSIR-NML, India have developed a direct reduction smelting process of nodules to recover manganese as Fe-Si-Mn alloy. This alloy is extensively used in the steel industry as deoxidizer and as an alloying element to make different grades of steel. Lab scale experiments were conducted to study the manganese distribution between Fe-Si-Mn alloy and FeO-SiO2-MnO-CaO-Al2O3-MgO slag at different temperatures by varying the basicity of the slag. The direct reduction smelting of nodules is carried out on 1 kg scale in 50 kVA electric arc furnaces to have Cu, Ni and Co alloy and Mn rich slag. This manganese rich slag is further treated in 50 kVA arc furnace to produce Fe-Si-Mn alloy. The composition of Fe-Si-Mn alloy obtained is in the range of Mn: 60-65%, Si: 14-17%, C: 1- 2%, S: 0.03% and the balance iron which is acceptable grade for industrial use. The equilibrium amount of MnO in the final slag is controlled by the temperature of the final melt and the silica, lime, alumina content of the final slag. Increasing the basicity of the slag plays a major role in minimizing the loss of MnO to slag, increasing the amount of SiO2 of the slag, increases the manganese loss in the slag. "The combined use of semiconductor properties and specific flotation characteristics of minerals under different conditions with external influences ensures a possibility for process control and management. This work presents the relations between the volumetric and surface characteristics of minerals and the minerals' flotation ability (flotability), as well as the possibility for the flotability purposeful change. Results from proprietary laboratory and industrial research are presented showing how controlled impacts on minerals and flotation pulp improve flotation technology. Such an approach reveals prospects for the creation of new technologies for the minerals' beneficiation.INTRODUCTIONThe decrease of the useful components content in the ores, the increasingly complex nature of the raw materials, the increasing energy consumption per the unit of production, and the need to solve the problems related to the environment pollution require solutions different than the existing classical ones. One of the ways to find such solutions is the detailed consideration of the fundamental properties of minerals and, in particular, of minerals having semiconductor properties. The studies of Plaksin et al. (1968), Chanturia and Shafeev (1977), Chanturia and Vigdergauz (2008), Carta et al. (1973), Hoberg and Shneider (1975), Rao et al. (1992) have given an idea of the energy state of the minerals, their flotation ability, and the ways in which this ability can be changed in one or the other direction. The main line in these works is the study and use of the relationship between bulk and flotation properties of minerals. To improve the efficiency of the process, it is also necessary to consider the relationship between the surface properties of the minerals, especially minerals-semiconductors, and their flotation ability.THEORETICAL BACKGROUND IN BRIEFA quantitative estimation of energy changes in a solid phase in the process of flotation may be made by taking in account the changes in the Fermi level. Its position in the forbidden band is an indicator about the direction and the intensity of electron exchange between solid and liquid phases. The Fermi level energy EF enables the estimation of flotability, intensity of needed external impact before flotation, as well as efficiency of the process going on. Quantitative estimation of these processes can be made by means of the flotability coefficient Kf."

"Recycling of industrial waste provided they have enough valuable elements requires significantly less investment compared with ore processing. Promising man-made raw material of rare earth elements (REE) is phosphogypsum. Works performed on dismantlement of phosphogypsum only concern phosphogypsum processing from apatit. In this case, none of the developments was tested for phosphogypsum produced on the basis of phosphorus, chemical and mineralogical composition of which is markedly different from apatites. We studied phosphorites of the Karatau deposits (Kazakhstan). Mineralogically all the layers are composed of three main ingredients: phosphate, silica and carbonate, which account for 92-96% of the weight composition of ores and rocks. Of impurities there are pyrite, iron hydroxides, gypsum, fluorite. In addition to the actual composition of phosphate in phosphate ores there are apatite. Silica is presented by chalcedony and quartz, and carbonate by calcite and dolomite. The results of X-ray microanalysis showed point cluster of grains containing REE in samples of phosphate ore. Analysis of the grain showed that REE are in the form of phosphates and silicates, which according to numerous studies in apatites is not established. In this regard, phosphogypsum, waste of production, is different in composition too. Therefore, transfer of techniques proposed in the methods for extracting REE from phosphogypsum after processing apatite, did not give the stated results and required a new approach to solving this problem. It should be noted that the phosphogypsum produced by processing the Karatau phosphorite contains medium group of REE by 2.6, and heavy group by 7.8 times more than phosphogypsum from processing the Kola apatite. Given the shortage of medium and heavy REE research to develop ways to extract the lanthanides from phosphogypsum after processing phosphate rock is promising. The study contains results of studies on the extraction of REE from phosphogypsum after Karatau phosphorite processing."

"Saponite is a valuable marketable product widely used foundry, metallurgy and construction, in the chemical, food and consumer goods industries, in medicine, and in agriculture.The feasibility of producing of high-quality construction materials with enhanced physical-chemical and decorative characteristics from saponite-containing products has been given a scientific basis and experimentally validated. The compressive strength of the samples in the sintering temperature range of 800-1000 ?? varied between 35 and 80.9 MPa; the bending strength 8 and 26.7 MPa, which is superior to the high-grade ceramic bricks of the M-300 brand. It has been established that the saponite-containing product obtained using the electrochemical separation of process water has a high sorption capacitance relatively the heavy-metal ions such as nickel and copper (40.7 and 99.8 mg/g, respectively). As a result of sintering at 750 ?? the sorption capacity of the sorbent for the nickel and copper ions increased to 194.2 and 212.8. Using the XRD and SEM with energy-dispersive spectroscopy studies, we diagnosed the metal-containing phases and validated the metal sorption mechanism.This study opens up the possibility of practical realization of the saponite-containing product as high-quality building materials and heavy-metal sorbents while addressing the issue of process water treatment. INTRODUCTION The Lomonosov deposit of the Archangelsk diamondiferous province accommodates 10 kimberlite pipes. The anticipated volume of diamond-bearing ore and dump rock to be removed before reaching the open-pit mining limit is 300 mln t (Karpenko, 2009; Bezborodov, etal. 2003). Rock in the deposit is almost completely displaced by clay minerals, predominantly saponite, amounting to 90% in the vent facies (Karpenko, 2009)."

"A novel technology was developed to study the process of recycling copper from waste printed circuit boards (WPCBs), which are the main source of metal production in the next decades. The chemical compositions of the WPCBs were investigated. The results indicated that the PCB powder was mainly composed of copper (38.5 wt.%), iron, aluminum, and non-metallic materials. Copper is mainly in the form of Cu and is the most valuable metal for the recycle of WPCBs. The concentrated WPCBs powder, obtained by the mechanical process, were pressed as the anode, which was directly electrolyzed to produce copper. The effects of H2SO4 concentration, Cu2+ concentration, current density, pole pitch, and liquid-to-solid ratio on the voltage, current efficiency, and copper extraction were investigated. The results indicated that the optimum conditions were liquid-to-solid ratio of 30 mL/g, current density of 571 A/m2, sulfuric acid concentration of 180 g/L, 50 g/L of copper ion, polar distance of 3 cm. Under the conditions, a desired current efficiency could be achieved. Meanwhile, about 95.62% Cu was recovered from the WPCBs. The experimental studies also revealed that the purity of copper obtained at the highest current efficiency was higher to 99.98%. Produced copper sheet were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). XRD analysis indicated that the copper was the main phase. INTRODUCTION With the rapid development of electronic industry, more and more waste electronic and electrical equipments (WEEE) are generated every year (Fogarasi et al., 2012; Liang et al., 2013). The production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) is the base of electronic industry, because it is the essential part of all electrical and electronic equipments (Schlummer et al., 2007). As a result, a considerable amount of waste PCBs containing plenty of heavy metals have to be treated. In general, PCBs contain about 28% metals that are abundant non-ferrous metals such as Cu, Pb, and Sn. Printed circuit boards can be considered as a secondary resource for recycling rather than wasting. The contents of gold and silver respectively reach 80 g/t and 3300 g/t, which are much higher than that of primary ores. Copper is the main metal of PCB and its content is as high as 26.8% ( Zhang et al., 2009)."

The paper reports results on sinterability of iron ores from the mines of Tata Steel Limited. The objective was to improve tumbler index (TI) of sinter and its reduction parameters, reduction degradation index (RDI) and reducibility (RI) while maintaining strand productivity same or to improve. Pot sintering experiments were carried out with Joda and Noamundi mines having LOI 3.8% and 2.9% respectively. Sinter basicity (CaO/SiO2) was varied in the 2.1 to 2.5 range and its MgO content was kept in the 1.4% to 1.8% range according to the blast furnace requirement. The ignition condition and vacuum was maintained according to the plant practice. The effect of variables namely, granulometric composition of ores vis-à-vis that of sinter mix, bed height, solid fuel, moisture content of green mix on the sintering indices was studied. The productivity with Noamundi ore (26 %+6.3 mm) was lower than that with Joda ore (45% +6.3 mm) at 4% coke in the mix and sinter basicity (CaO/SiO2) 2.1. However, with 4% coke (ash 22%) the RDI value was significantly high in case of Noamundi Ore, which decreased significantly to 29% with 5% coke. The size parameter of ore fines and its LOI content do influence the sintering speed and the sinter properties significantly. At 2.1 basicity ratio, the sinter with the Joda ore having coarsergranulometry had highest TI (=70.2%). The RDI (27%) in this case was inferior to that (23.2%) when Joda ores with finer size was sintered. Better RDI with finer sized ore could be attributed to better assimilation of CaO/ MgO with more balanced and uniformly distributed hematite minerals. The size parameter has been inter-influenced by the coke requirement. With the lower mean sized Joda ore the sinter RDI decreased significantly to 23% and the productivity improved to 42.9 T/(sq m*d) when the coke in the mix increased from 4% to 5%. An attempt to reduce the coke in the mix from 5% to 4% with respect to both the ores was not successful as it resulted higher RDI and lower strand productivity. The present study has revealed that sinter RDI improves (decreases) with decrease in the sintering time, while such correlation was absent between TI of sinter and speed of sintering. Corollary to this observation, one can take advantage of other stronger parameters to increase the sintering speed (and hence sinter productivity) without affecting the sinter strength. In the present study higher FeO sinters has displayed excellent RDI, however cold strength of sinter was not correlated with its FeO content. High precision on-line particle size distribution measurement of mineral slurries has recently be-come available. It provides new tools for the development of monitoring and optimization methods for mineral grinding and separation circuits. The paper presents the development work at the Kemi chromite concentrator plant of Outokumpu Tornio Works in Northern Finland. The Kemi concentrator processes annually 1.2 Mt of chromium ore. The products are upgraded lumpy ore and metallurgical grade concentrate. The concentrate is produced using gravity separation methods, preceded by a rod mill - ball mill grinding stage. The separation process performance is strongly dependent on the particle size distribution of the grinding product at the Kemi plant. Particle size distribution has a significant effect on the concentrate grade and recovery. Currently a new laser diffraction based on-line particle size analyser is used for monitoring the grinding product. The analyser system allows the measurement of the whole cumulative particle size distribution simultaneously. It provides a wealth of new measurement information for process control. A monitoring and optimization scheme for grinding and gravity separation based on the particle size information is presented. The goal is to minimize the production of fine slime, and subsequently to improve the concentrate quality and minimize chromite recovery losses. Data-based recursively identified linear PLS process models are developed for optimization purposes. The preliminary results of the monitoring system operation in on-line use are presented.

"In this article research on the mineralogical characteristics and beneficiation process for a copper molybdenum deposits in Heilongjiang province of China has been carried out. Chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Quantitative Evaluation of Minerals by SCANning electron microscopy (QEMSCAN) were conducted on samples. The bulk analysis results showed that: (1) Comprehensive recovery and separation of molybdenum & copper minerals was feasible by the flowsheet of first copper-molybdenum mixed flotation after grinding the ore samples to 61.88% -74µm and then separation flotation of copper and molybdenum after regrinding the Cu-Mo mixed concentrate to 83.26% -38 µm. The results highlight relationship between mineralogical characteristics of ore and comprehensive benefication method. (2) the combination of "" Sodium sulphide and sodium thioglycolate "" reagents are effective inhibitors of copper-molybdenum mixed concentrate, their selectivity performance is better than that of single reagent. Good flotation indexes were gained that might be directive experience to similar cases. KEYWORDS Mineralogical characteristics; molybdenite; chalcopyrite; flotation separation; inhibitor INTRODUCTION Copper and molybdenum metals are widely used in the field of metallurgy, aerospace, national defence, etc. Copper –molybdenum sulphide ore is an important source of copper and molybdenum metals. At present flotation is still the preferred methods to deal with the copper-molybdenum sulphide minerals (Yin, Z., Sun, W.et al. 2017; Ansari, A., & Pawlik, M. 2007; Hirajima, T., Miki, et al. 2017). Copper and molybdenum sulphide ores usually have the similarly good nature floatability(Miki, H., Matsuoka, et al. 2017), meanwhile most molybdenum sulphide ore has tiny grained-size(Castro, S., & Laskowski, J. S. 2015.) and closed relationship with other sulphide and gangue minerals which result in the coper and molybdenum separation problem. Base on the nature of the ore and flotation properties of the individual minerals contained in the ore, there are two methods are usually used to deal with the copper – molybdenum ore, including bulk molybdenum/copper flotation followed by separation of copper and molybdenum minerals, sequential molybdenum/ copper flotation(Liu, G. Y., Lu, et al. 2012). The latter method has the shortcoming of hard to activate the depressed copper minerals in the previous molybdenum flotation process, which may result in a large loss of the copper from concentrate, this disadvantage would avoid while adopting the former method. bulk flotation followed by separation process is to get the copper-molybdenum concentrate from raw ore first then separate flotation the molybdenum and copper minerals, benefit from the excellent floatability of both molybdenum and copper minerals ( Malhotra, D., Rowe, R. M., & Bhasin, A. K. 1986; Cao, Z., Yue, et al. 2017 ), it really easy to obtain the mixed concentrate. In order to get the high quality copper and molybdenum concentrate, the key technologies and difficulties are to realize the separation of the copper and molybdenum minerals which have the very similar natural floatability (Raghavan, S., & Hsu, L. L. 2015; Nakhaei, F. 2014)."

"The research is aimed at solving the processing of waste products of titanium-magnesium production. The aim of the research is to extract synthetic carnallite and industrial products enriched with niobium from waste products of titanium-magnesium production. Analysis of the current state of the titanium and magnesium production in the Republic of Kazakhstan shows the availability of significant amounts of chloride wastes containing valuable components. Magnesium and potassium with an average content of 50-60 % potassium chlorides, 25-30 % magnesium chlorides are lost in the wastes of the titanium and magnesium production. Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium Magnesium Plant JSC (UKTMP) currently imports carnallite that is a KCl-MgCl2X6H2O binary salt at quite high prices. Chloride wastes of titanium production, sublimates of dust chambers of a titanium chlorinator, sludge of a magnesium electrolytic unit and sludge of a carnallite chlorinator has been chosen as the targets of our research. The analysis of niobium distribution within any solid waste of a titanium slag chlorination process in UKTMP JSC showed that the highest content of niobium is in the sublimates of dust chambers of a titanium chlorinator in the ranges from 0.26 to 1.0 %. Among the niobium extraction technologies considered, the known method of its extraction from the chloride waste is leaching with weak solutions of mineral acids or alkalis in order to convert the chloride salts into the solution to be used for synthetic carnallite extraction. Besides niobium, other impurity components are transferred to the cake and shall be separated from the base metals. The effective method for this is the chlorination process enabling niobium transfer into the sublimates in the form of chlorides and thus separating it from the majority of the impurities. The condensed niobium chlorides are hydrolyzed transferring it into sediments in the form of oxide. New ways of processing waste products of titanium-magnesium production with the receipt of marketable products are relevant in the development of processing of mineral raw materials."

The biggest chromium mineral processing plant in Albania is Bulqiza plant. It has been in operation for more than 20 years, treating low-grade chromium ores grade 20 ? 26 % Cr2O3 and producing chromium concentrates grade 48 ? 50 % Cr2O3. About 2 million tons of tailings with 13 % Cr2O3 content are stocked in a dam close to the plant. Mineral processing of low-grade chromium ores with less than 16% Cr2O3 content is unprofitable because the mining expenses are high comparing with the current market prices of chromium concentrate. Recycle and enrichment of existing tailings is profitable, because there are no underground mining expenses in this case and because that this kind of raw material does not need expenses operation of crushing and grinding. The existing plant is in operation for more than 8 years treating existing tailings as raw material. Grade of concentrate in the value 40 % Cr2O3 and Cr2O3 recovery in the value 30-35% in the plant are considered low. The main reason of low concentrate grade and recovery is high content of particles under 100 microns, the slimes, in raw material. In the paper is described the study carried out to improve enrichment of the tailings, as well as analyses of existing process, raw material and products. It is concluded that majority of lost is present in the slimes which are not separated in existing spiral separators and shaking tables. Basing in the study is composed the new flow sheet of recycling and concentration of the tailings to produce chromium concentrate grade 41 ? 42 % Cr2O3 and recovery 60 %, decreasing in this way the concentrate production cost two times. In the paper are presented the tests and results of concentration of particle size fraction under 100 microns, using gravimetric, magnetic and flotation methods, as well as equipment and machines suitable for slimes treatment and concentration.
