La Cuenca Lancones se emplaza en un rift, de volcanismo máfico bimodal relacionado a Sulfuros Masivos Vulcanogénicos del Cretáceo. Los yacimientos con potencial de zinc están distribuidos en dos franjas: sulfuros masivos volcanogénicos de Cu-Zn-Au del Albiano, en donde se ubica Tambogrande, dentro de la volcánica Fm. Ereo; y sulfuros masivos volcanogénicos de Pb-Zn-Cu del Cretáceo con El Papayo, Cerro Colorado y Potrobayo en la Fm. La Bocana. Tambogrande es el principal potencial para zinc con 120 Mt con 1-1.4% de Zn.

El presente texto describe el uso de los drones como herramientas útiles en la captación de datos para el minado de cielo abierto -particularmente la voladura de rocas- a través del uso de la aerofotogrametría. De forma que se puede monitorear trabajos de minado a cielo abierto y controlar voladuras con elevada precisión y seguridad, ya que los topógrafos no tienen que acceder a zonas potencialmente peligrosas de la mina.

Although flotation is widely used throughout the minerals industry, it is a relatively inefficient process. The economic benefits of improved operation are considerable. A multivariable level stabilising system has been developed to reduce the amount of fluctuation in flotation levels. It has been shown on several plants that the better level control leads to improved metallurgical performance. A level measurement based on conductivity is also described. The device provides some insight into the behaviour of the froth.

This paper point out the discussion and evaluation of the non-conventional water resources; the discussion of the results of a multicriteria analysis which allows understanding and evaluating the differences; advantages and disadvantages from the technical-economical, social and environmental point of view of the non conventional water supply options: re use of municipal waste water as compared to seawater supply and its two sub options: raw seawater and desalinated seawater. The results show that there are advantages and disadvantages to each approach, but that use of non-conventional water resources is a viable option for mining companies.

La polución sonora es una contaminación ambiental a través de la energía mecánica o acústica, que afecta no solo el aparato auditivo, sino todo el organismo. En este sentido, el presente trabajo describe la evaluación del impacto sonoro en el ambiente subterráneo desarrollado en la mina de Panasqueira, donde el riesgo ambiental acústico debe ser abordado en un sentido de ruido ocupacional y con referencia puntual de la fuente. Por ello, es necesario realizar una gestión ambiental del ruido que permita adquirir una adecuada calidad ambiental a través de las normas ambientales como la ISO 14000.

The paper describes the thiosulfate process for gold leaching like the best non-polluting alternative to cyanide. Thiosulfate is a non-toxic lixiviant and has the ability to complex gold and silver. Copper bearing ores are not harmful for the process and does not suffer the preg-robbing phenomenon like in the case of cyanide. Nevertheless, the process is not fully developed, basically because of the poor understanding of the solution chemistry. Upon thermodynamic considerations and experimental evaluations it was found that the system is unstable; thiosulfate oxidation is unavoidable and ammonia is lost by evaporation. Measures to reduce thiosulfate oxidation include the adequate balance of ammonia and thiosulfate concentrations, adequate pH, additions of sulfite and additions of complexing agents like glycine.

At the present time, the mineral resources in the majority of underground mines are assessed and reported within a deterministic scenario. Irrespective of the techniques utilized for the estimation, the uncertainty in the reporting of resources is limited to their classification in categories such as Measured, Indicated and Inferred, according to a qualitative appreciation that depends on the abundance and quality of geologic information and sampling. Tonnages and grades reported within each category are treated as of fixed or variable precision depending on their classification; nevertheless, this degree of precision is not quantified, which makes it difficult for mine planning and can seriously affect the decisions that are taken on the resources of a deposit. The uncertainty in the resources comes from the lack of adequate geological information and grades, but this lack of information is very difficult to improve or supplement since the information-versus-cost curve increases exponentially

This paper point out the predictive performance of a relatively new learning model called the support vector machines (SVM) for spatial grade estimation of two grade attributes alumina and silica in a bauxite deposit of India. In developing the SVM model, it was trained with known input-output patterns of training data set which was derived by splitting the entire data set into training and prediction sets using Genetic algorithms (GA). The use of GA algorithms was made because it attempted to divide the data into two statistical similar subsets. The predictive performance of the SVM was also compared with the ordinary kriging technique using the various statistical indices including Mean Squared Error (MSE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Mean Error (ME) and the coefficient of determination (R2) on the prediction data set.

The Yanaquihua gold-bearing vein-fault deposit is associated with a sinistral strike-slip fault system, hosted within granite to granodiorite of the Tiabaya Super Unit of the Coastal batholith. The deposit is located near the northwest striking Cincha-Lluta-Incapuquio (System 11) regional fault system . Mineralization exhibits vertical trends and is primarily controlled by sub-vertical vein-fault structures. Mineralization includes variably abundant quartz, clay minerals, pyrite, calcite.

The paper point out the method to meet the formal requirements for carrying out occupational risk assessment in companies imposed by various regulations and practical needs of modern safety management in company. The method presented allows also utilizing the assessment of economic effects of work accidents to assess the economic value of the risk resulting from the possibility of harm to health occurring to mine staff. A risk assessment example included in the paper and the calculations made permit positive assessment of the usability of the event-tree method for assessing the risk under conditions of limited availability of statistical information on the frequency of harm occurring. The method presented has also this advantage that it is not based on accident ratios that for many reasons do not always conform to reality and always show past safety level, not anticipating accidents but only recording them.

En este trabajo Técnico hemos tratado de obtener los principales indicadores de productividad y eficiencia de las principales actividades de las operaciones mineras subterráneas. Al final de este trabajo se obtuvo, se diseñó e implemento la herramienta Business Inteligencie BI, basada en un modelo de minería de datos de estructura ramificada. Mediante la técnica ERPC (Extraer, Revisar, Procesar y cargar) se obtienen los datos de distintos módulos de carga de información, luego se revisan y depuran, preparan y se cargan en la Data Warehouse del ERP Peolple Soft, para luego realizar un proceso analítico en línea (OLAP) que sintetiza la información en forma de reportes y cuadros de mando.

This article presents the results of a study conducted using Prospect Explorer, a neural software tool from Neural Mining Solutions. This exploration tool takes an alternative approach to data analysis and visualisation, automating the detection and prioritisation of anomalies and the relationships between their components. Results from the project area around the Selwyn Cu-Au Mine in central Queensland are given which clearly demonstrate the ability of neural networks to quickly, effectively and consistently locate mineral deposits.

Como una alternativa a la organización existente en geología, se propone un sistema jerárquico de tres niveles, donde la escala juega un papel clave y la enseñanza, es un proceso orientador antes que descriptivo. La principal ventaja de este esquema sobre el tradicional es que la relación entre segmentos de materia en cualquier nivel es conducido por profesores en el siguiente nivel superior, sin que haya necesidad de colaboración detallada entre profesores dentro o entre niveles.

Since co-disposal technology promises to replace conventional tailings disposal methods at sites with high strip ratios or plentiful old dumps. While the mine waste needs to be relatively strong and low in fine material, and chemical compatibility must be assured, when these parameters are satisfied there are no other significant hurdles to its implementation. In this sense, the paper describe the resulting benefits range from substantial reduction in capital and operating costs to reduction or essential elimination of the short- and long-term liabilities associated with tailings dams are impoundments.Since tailings dam failures are arguably the greatest environmental liability and public relations problem in the industry, reducing the quantity of tailings managed behind dams is a worthy goal.

Esta herramienta está destinada principalmente a las confirmaciones de origen para establecer la confianza entre el productor y el refinador final. Se desarrolló originalmente en Suiza para reducir el riesgo de reputación en el comercio del oro.
