The electrochemical performance of a series of carbon materials produced from coconut shells, which are very cheap and readily available in Bangladesh was investigated for their viability as anode materials in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. X-ray diffraction technique was used to measure the interlayer spacing (d002) of the produced carbon materials. A number of half-cells were prepared with the produced carbon materials from coconut shell as working electrode and metallic lithium as counter electrode with 1MLiPF6 electrolyte in a mixture of ethylene carbonate and dimethyl carbonate. The discharge-charge profiles were measured for the different half-cells by using Arbin 24-channel Cyler. The value of interlayer spacing of the coconut-based carbon material was found to be 0.397 nm at 900°C, which is most suitable for lithium-ion insertion into the carbon structure without any expansion. The specific discharge capacity of carbon material from coconut shell heat treated to 900°C was found to be 1015.65 mAh/g. The coconut carbon material heat treated to 900°C delivered 335.22 mAh/g reversible capacity, which is comparable to the commercial carbon/graphite presently used in lithium-ion battery systems. The irreversible capacity loss and coulombic efficiency in 25th cycle of half-cell made with coconut carbon material were found to be 0.16% and 99.83% respectively. The carbon material produced from coconut shell can, therefore, be used as a potential anode for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.

"Cyclopentane, a flammable hydrocarbon, is being considered as a working fluid for waste heat recovery applications using Organic Rankine Cycles with Direct Evaporators. A postulated failure mode consisting of a pinhole leak in a heat exchanger tube raises safety concerns due to autoignition of the working fluid. Experiments were conducted to determine the ignition delay time (IDT) of cyclopentane using an Ignition Quality Test™ (IQT™) device. Two sets of experiments were conducted per ASTM D6890 (with exception to charge pressure and temperature) to determine ignition delay of the fuel at atmospheric pressure for standard air (-20.95% oxygen) and vitiated air (13.3% oxygen) at a temperature of 803 K. Operation of the IQT device at a much lower pressure (1 bar) than normal operation (21.4 bar) with a standard injector led to very rich conditions and wetting of the stainless steel chamber walls. Catalytic effects are postulated to produce the small IDTs observed. Experiments were repeated with a modified injector to prevent wall wetting, resulting in average IDTs that are substantially longer.IntroductionCyclopentane is being considered for use as a working fluid in a Direct Evaporator of an Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). In this configuration, the heat exchanger is placed directly in the flow of the hot exhaust gas, rather than using a secondary heat transfer loop to isolate the flammable working fluid from the heat source. This configuration offers the advantages of approximately 15% lower cost and improved efficiency over a standard ORC. However, placing a heat exchanger operating with a flammable hydrocarbon in the hot exhaust gas stream presents potential safety risks. If a pinhole leak were to occur in the heat exchanger, working fluid could leak into the hot exhaust stream. Gas turbine exhaust is provided to the Direct Evaporator at a temperature of approximately 803 K, whereas the autoignition temperature of cyclopentane is 634 K (Gallant and Yaws, 1993). Autoignition of the working fluid has been identified as the key risk for this type of system.Autoignition occurs when sufficient self-heating by chemical reactions takes place to accelerate reaction rates to produce full-scale combustion. This is in contrast to forced ignition, in which an external source (e.g., spark) is employed to initiate the combustion process. For combustion to occur, the fuel to oxidizer concentration must be between the lower (lean) and upper (rich) flammable limits. The reaction rate depends on the species concentration of the fuel and oxidant, the local temperature and pressure. Ignition processes are comprised of steps that take a fmite amount of time. This latent period prior to the start of combustion is referred to as ignition delay time (IDT)."

The outstanding metallurgical performance of the Noranda continuous converter (NCv) in operation since November 1997 has allowed the company to meet production and environmental targets. This achievement positions this new technology as a strong alternative continuous converting technology for copper production. Knowledge of slag chemistry has been important in this respect. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the effect of key parameters including temperature, oxygen potential, slag composition and levels of copper oxide in slag on the conditions leading to magnetite precipitation, as well as on the conditions affecting the liquidus ranges of NCv slag. The above variables are evaluated using industrial data and thermodynamic predictions. Practical implications of customizing operational fluxing procedures to determine optimum operating windows are also discussed.

At the present time, pyrometallurgical processes are employed for the recovery of lead from battery scrap. These processes have serious pollution problems, primarily due to the emfssion of sulphur dioxide and airborne lead in the form of dust and fume. In addition it is necessary to dispose of solid wastes and liquid effluents which contain lead and in some cases sodium sulfide-containing compounds. In this work an improved process was investigated for the recovery of lead from battery residue. This involved pelletization of the residue with sodium carbonate and moisture. Then, the pellets were melted without carbon and the .sodium sulphate salt was removed. Subsequently, the molten lead oxide was reduced with carbon. This process minimizes the sulphur dioxide emissions and leads to very low sulfide contents of the sodium sulfate salt

New environmental assessment model based on the Waste Input-Output analysis has been developed and applied for the "Landfill mining activity". "Landfill mining" implies the digging up of the landfilled wastes, the recovery of valuable material and energy resources and, thus, the reuse of the saved space as a new landfill site. In this study, the landfilled wastes are assumed to be treated by the gasification/melting processes. Two kinds of reactors, the fluidized bed type (FB) and the shaft furnace type (SF), have been considered in this work as the typical gasification/melting processes adopted in Japan. In FB, the dug-up wastes are heated in the sand fluidized bed zone under reducing atmosphere, Fe and Al are recovered in the metallic form, and then, the gasification/melting of residues is made in the second zone. In SF, the waste is charged in the high temperature coke bed, and the gas is recovered together with molten metal and slag. Both processes generate electric power by the recovered heat and fly ash as waste to landfill. It has been found in this study that the both processes can reduce the total volume of waste and save the available landfill space. SF seems to have higher potential for decreasing volume of wastes because of less emission than FB while FB has great benefit to recover metallic Fe and Al individually. The results of scenario analysis have also indicated that the landfill mining activity is effective for sustainable management of landfill sites.

Zinc sulphate electrolyte used for zinc electrowinning must be purified for cObalt ions. The cobalt is removed in a cementation stage by the addition of zinc dust. Copper arid antimony are frequently used additives which enhance the cementation of cobalt. This paper aims at a better understanding of how copper and antimony promote the removal of cobalt. Initial experiments were done in a batch cementation reactor. Copper and antimony precipitated in the early stages of cementation indicating that a preferential substrate was formed. The individual role of copper and antimony was further investigated in an electrochemical cell. On a microsca1e, the , growth process, morphology and the composition of the precipitates were examined with SEM and XRD. It was found that cobalt could not be deposited in its pure form but as a cobalt-zinc alloy with zinc as the prime constituent. Copper increases the cathodic surface area of zinc dust by precipitating as numerous dendrites. Antimony acts as a cathodic surface onto which a cobalt-zinc alloy with an increased cobalt content is deposited.

Ammonia has been found to be an effective leaching reagent for gold, silver and platinum group metals in the presence of appropriate oxidants. Electrochemical and kinetic aspects of the dissolution of elemental gold in ammoniacal solutions have been investigated. The cathodic reaction of aurous di-ammine on the gold cathode has been investigated first. From this investigation, the standard electro-potential of the cathodic reaction .and hence. the Gibbs free energy of formation of the aurous di-ammine were established. The solubility of gold in ammoniacal solutions was also examined in relation to ammonia concentration, temperature and concentration of various oxidants. The anodic reaction of the gold disk in ammonia? in the presence? of various oxidants including oxygen, ozon, hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide, cupric and cobaltic ammine, and iodine was also examined and the results have been discussed. Excellent dissolution yielding of gold and many other metals, typically better than 95% recovery in 1'-2 'hours of leaching at a temperature ranging 80°C to 190°C has been observed. Test results of the dissolution of gold from elemental state as well as other sources including sulfidic ores and scrap are presented.

A new high performance adsorbent is synthesized by the sol-gel method and applied to the removal of cadmium and mercury ions from aqueous solutions. Adsorbents based on metal oxides have been developed by immobilizing chelating molecules on the surface of the existing metal oxide networks and show ability for selective metal extraction from aqueous solutions. However, efficiencies of such adsorbents are limited due to low ligand density, and difficulty in pore accessibility. These difficulties are circumvented by synthesizing adsorbents using the sol-gel technique. In one example to be discussed, the sol-precursor possesses an organic moiety that binds cadmium, mercury, and copper ions. The capacities of 1.98mmol Cd(II-/gm and 6.40 mmol Hg/gm of this adsorbent are considerably higher than those of adsorbents prepared by the ligand immobilization technique. The scope of this paper is to discuss the development of the new adsorbent and its applications for cadmium and mercury removal from aqueous solutions.

Outlined new development strategies and ways of improvement in this business, including research, development and management of the works that today posses characteristics of a profitable operation, as well as the changes expected with respect to the entry of new actors and the creation of new products The authors finally bet for small or tailor-made smelters with ad hoc technology for their raw materials and few units to coordinate -devoted to specific concentrates using high technology and low manpower. Considering the in-situ hydrometallurgical route, as well as the pyrometallurgical route in works or conversion facilities that buy or process white metal and produce copper and other metals associated with this such as gold and silver, besides sulfuric acid, plants which should be strategically located in zones with high sulfuric acid price to make this a product which contributes to the profitability of the business.

"In this paper we describe a 'non-contact' electromagnetic nozzle suitable for sprayforming and gas atomization processes. In such processes there is a need to control the flow rate and diameter of the liquid metal jet whilst minimising contamination of the stream. This can be achieved using an electromagnetic valve, which partially levitates the jet in freespace, using a segmented cylinder surrounded by an induction coil. This valve will significantly enhance the quality of the titanium alloys and nickel-based superalloys used in sprayforming and gas atomization. This paper describes the design and test of a laboratory prototype valve based on experiments performed with liquid tin.1. Introduction In many industries there is an increasing need for clean, high quality metals and alloys based on titanium and nickel. Two important processes are: 1) Spray deposition which allows the liquid metal to be converted to a near-net shape, thus alleviating the need for subsequent forging and extensive machining and; 2) Powder production of titanium by gas atomisation.In centrifugal spray deposition of titanium (see figure 1) the metal is induction melted in a cold crucible. The crucible consists of a number of water-cooled segments, which allows the high frequency magnetic field of the coil to pass through the crucible, and into the melt. The charge is melted by the induced eddy currents. Locally at the crucible walls the liquid metal solidifies, and is contained within a. 'skull' of its own solid, thus reducing contamination from the crucible wall. Once melted the metal is poured through an electrically heated graphite nozzle and into the spray forming chamber. The principal limitation of the process to-date, however, is that it currently uses a graphite and /or ceramic nozzle to direct the flow of liquid metal to the atomizing disk and as such there is considerable risk of nozzle erosion with inevitable effects in terms of contamination of the melt stream and variability in flow conditions. In this research programme we develop a. non-contact electromagnetic nozzle, which will totally eliminate refractories and/or ceramic materials from the melting and casting process. This will greatly enhance the technological capabilities of sprayforming and gas atomization processes."

"To clarify the feasibility of alkoxides and acetylacetonates as precursors for laser CVD of metal oxides, vapors of tantalum or titanium alkoxides and zirconium acetylacetonate were irradiated by KrF excimer laser and deposits were characterized by XRD and XPS measurements. As for tantalum and titanium, non-stoichiometric crystalline oxides grew nearly phototropically, however, zirconium oxides deposited showed only halo-pattern by XRD measurements. Electric conductivity measurements of tantalum oxides implied the improvement of the insulating properties by the addition of activated oxygen to the ambient.IntroductionThere has been renewed increasing attention to the metallic oxide thin films because ofits promising usefulness in many applications, such as high-Tc superconductors and ferroelectric devices. A variety of thin film preparation techniques have been studied such as sputtering, chemical liquid deposition (sol-gel and metalorganic decomposition), pulsed laser deposition and chemical vapor deposition (CVD). Among them, we think CVD is the most promising method because it offers a high controllability of morphology and good step coverage at relatively high growth rate. Preparation of oxide films by CVD can be achieved using a precursor containing metallic element and oxygen containing gas such as N20 at the same time. However, metalorganic (MO) compounds which contain both metallic element and oxygen, directly bonded to metallic element, seems to be more favorable because some of MO has a good properties for CVD such as a rather high vapor pressure, stability in ambient and low toxicity."

"Fine multicomponent particles of yttrium and europium were synthesized through the precipitation from homogeneous solution, and the various characteristics related with the fluorescence were investigated. The morphology and the fluorescent characteristics of the synthesized particles were affected by ionic species in the stock solution. In the presence of sulfate ion, some parts of the precipitated particles were aggregated, and _the fluorescent characteristics were not good. On the other hand, in the presence of chloride ion or nitrate ion, the particles precipitated were almost monodispersed, and, the intensity of the fluorescent emission were strong after calcination. Further, these particles were also very attractive as the red phosphor in the mercury-free fluorescent systems.Introduction Eu doped Y oxide particles have been widely investigated for the application to the fluorescent lamps and displays: Recently, the fluorescent lamps are pointed as harmful electric equipments because of using mercury for excitation. Therefore, the use of the mercury in the fluorescent- system will be limited or prohibited worldwide in near future. Then, the development of the mercury-free fluorescent lamp is strongly required without delay. Inert gas such as neon and/or xenon seem to be applicable as new excitation element that replaces the mercury. However, in case xenon the excitation wavelength,' 146 and 172nm, is different from that of the mercury, 254nm, and then, the commercial phosphors which are used in the present fluorescent lamp system are not available. Therefore, the invention of the novel phosphors is essential for the development of the mercury-free fluorescent lamp. Further, the controls of the size and shape of the particles precipitated are also important, because the homogeneity of the size and the shape is very important for the fabrication of the layer of the phosphor particles. That is to say, the development of the phosphor particles with controlled components, size and shape is essential. The precise control of size and shape improves the packing density, and so, the screen performance of the lamp [1]. In addition, these phosphor particles should be also useful for the application of the flat-plane displays, for example, PDP, etc. [2,3]. In the present work, first, the particles including yttrium and europium for the precursor for red phosphor were prepared through precipitation from homogeneous solution. This process was precisely controlled for the control of the components, size and shape of the particles precipitated. Next, the particles precipitated were calcined, and then, their fluorescent properties were characterized. As a result, some of them showed the possibly available characteristics as the red phosphor for mercury-free fluorescent lamp system. These experimental results are presented in this paper."

"Preparation and vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) transmission spectra of aluminum fluoroberyllate glasses, MgF2-CaF2-SrF2-A1Fr BeF2 (MCSA-Be) and MgF2-CaF2-SrF2-AlFrYFrBeF2 (MCSAY-Be), were studied. The influence of YF3 and BeF2 on the thermal stabilization against crystallization and VUV transmittance was investigated. With increasing the BeF2 content, the crystallization tendency decreased and the absorption edge shifted to shorter wavelength in the MCSA-Be and MCSAY-Be glasses. The MCSA-20Be glass composition exhibited the shortest wavelength UV absorption edge (-147 nm) and the highest transmittance at 157 nm (60% for 2 mm sample thickness). The transmission values at 157 nm and the slope (steepness) of the absorption edge were found to be significantly influenced by the trace amount of Fe2+ derived from the BeF2 raw materials.IntroductionPure beryllium fluoride is known to be an only fluoride that forms one component glass on cooling from the molten state and is structurally similar to silica with [SiO4]4- tetrahedra. Molten BeF2 is highly viscous with a viscosity of about 106 poise near its liquidus temperature at 550""C[l]. The addition of modifying fluorides such as LiF, NaF or KF to BeF2 substantially decreases the viscosity[2]. Glass forming region of binary fluoroberyllate glasses has been mainly reported by several authors [3]. LiFBeF2 binary system is structually analogy for Mg0-Si02 system from their phase diagram and ratio of ionic radius for each cation and anion, respectively. LiF-BeF2 binary glasses seems to be promising candidates for the extreme deep vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) transmitting optical materials owing to their larger band gap. However, it is chemically unstable, and so, have no practical application for lens systems in micro lithography equipments and substrate materials for F2 (157nm) excimer laser[4]. There are also few reports on the VUV transparency of multicomponent aluminium fluoroberyllate glasses from the view point of their compositional dependencies. The purpose of this paper is to prepare deep VUV transmitting optical materials and determine the optimum glass compositions for aluminium fluoroberyllate glasses investigating their thermal stabilization against crystallization."

There are new applications growing at a very strong pace (such as battery alloy), applications that are now penetrating their target markets with significantly increased growth rates (such as bonded NdFeB), and some applications that became more complex requiring much more sophisticated products (such as catalysis). Rare Earth producers have to spend significant ressources in order to monitor the market trends in order to predict the demand and then adjust their raw material mix. Even though there is a greater diversity of raw material available, there is still some Rare Earth elements that are in excess, while other are just in balance. As a consequence rare earth producers invest heavily in R&D in order to develop new applications for these excess elements.

Agglomeration of ore can be used to immobilize fine particles during heap leaching by agglomerating them into granules. Without agglomeration, the fine ore particles can migrate within the heap, clogging flow channels and producing large areas where access of solution to the ore is very poor. The benefits of agglomeration are well-known in gold heap leaching operations, which can be effectively agglomerated using binders such as Portland cement due to the alkaline leaching solutions used. However, agglomeration has not been very effective in the heap leaching of copper ores, because these ores require an acidic leaching solution. Acid destroys the effectiveness of most binders, causing the agglomerates to disintegrate as soon as the leaching solution is applied. In order to gain the benefits of agglomeration in copper heap leaching, an economical, acid-resistant binder is needed. The two issues that needed to be addressed were: 1) Lack of effective methods for evaluating binder acid resistance before performing expensive, time-consuming, full-scale heap leaching tests, and 2) The vast majority of known binders react poorly to acid conditions, and so a basis was needed for determining which binders are most likely to be acid-resistant. In this paper, the development of two new tests for evaluating binder acid resistance in the laboratory are described. The ?soak test? determines the degree to which agglomerates disintegrate and release fines on contact with acidic solution, measuring the relative quantities of fines released by agglomerates made with different binders under controlled conditions, and serves as a rapid means for comparing large numbers of binders. The ?percolation test? measures several different parameters to determine how a binder is likely to perform in heap leaching: 1) the degree of ?slump? and compaction of agglomerates as they are wetted by acidic solutions; 2) the hydraulic conductivity of the agglomerate bed; 3) the migration of fines through the bed as the solution flows through it; and 4) the quantity of liquid retained in the agglomerates after they are drained. Using these tests, a broad spectrum of binders were examined. Soak testing determined that the most acid-resistant binders were nonionic polymers. Five of these binders were further evaluated using percolation testing.

"Composites with DGEBA/TETA epoxy matrix reinforced with thinner and continuous bamboo fibers stripped from culms were mechanically characterized by tensile tests. Specimens with up to 30% in volume fraction of aligned fibers were tensile ruptured at room temperature. The results showed a steady increase in both the ultimate strength and the elastic modulus of the composites with the amount of incorporated bamboo fibers. The fractographic analysis by scanning electron microscopy showed evidence of moderate adhesion between the bamboo fiber and the epoxy matrix. This fiber/matrix adhesion by interaction mechanism apparently justifies the improved tensile properties of the composites.IntroductionIn recent years polymer composites reinforced with natural fibers, mainly those lignocellulosic obtained from plants, have been subject to extensive research works [1-5]. Environmental, economical, societal and technical advantages of these composites are motivating their substitution for similar polymer composites reinforced with synthetic fibers. In particular, R & D efforts have been conducted aiming to replace glass fibers composites that are comparatively more abrasive to equipments, non-recyclable, more expensive, heavier and toxic [6]. Among the many lignocellulosic fiber composites being investigated, those fabricated with bamboo stripped fibers, i.e., fibers longitudinally cut from the culm, still need information to support possible industrial applications. Several works, however, have been dedicated to bamboo stripped fibers as possible reinforcement of polymer composites [7-17]. These works reported mechanical properties that could markedly vary with the type of polymer matrix, the fiber disposition (if continuous, aligned, short-cut, mat interlayered, etc) and the test condition."

"Atlantic Copper is one of the largest copper producers in Europe. Its production facilities are located in Huelva (Spain) and account for the smelting of over one million tpy of concentrates to produce up to 260 ktpy cathodes and 900 ktpy of sulphuric acid. During copper concentrate smelting, the slag coming from the flash furnace and PS converters are treated in an electrical slag cleaning furnace. As a result of the treatment of the off gases from this furnace, approximately 2,000 tpy of a Zn-rich filter cake are produced and are sent to authorized waste managers. This paper describes the characterization of this material and the preliminary results of a new process to recover zinc as a pure zinc hydroxycarbonate while lead is collected as an indium-rich anglesite product. The behavior of impurities (Cd, As, Tl, Sn, Sb, Bi, Cu, Se, Te) in the leaching, solution purification and precipitation steps is also reported.IntroductionThe Atlantic Copper Metallurgical Complex in Huelva (Spain) was commissioned in 1970 with a capacity of 40,000 tpy of copper from concentrate. In 1975, the old blast furnaces were replaced by Outokumpu flash smelting furnace (FSF) technology, and the copper refinery capacity was increased to 108,000 tpy. Between 1994 and 1996, an expansion project was carried out to increase the copper from concentrate and cathodes to 250,000 tpy and 215,000 tpy, respectively. This expansion basically consisted of a new sulphuric acid plant, replacement of the anode furnaces by two 400 t units, redesign of the slag cleaning furnace (SCF), an increase in the electrolytic cells to 1,120 and implementation of ISA permanent cathode technology. Furthermore, a debottlenecking project has led to a capacity of 1,000,000 tpy of fresh concentrate since 1997. Meanwhile between 1995 and 1998, a cathode production rate of 260,000 tpy was reached as a result of a progressive increase in the current density in the refinery."

"At processing of some kinds of wastes (electronic scrap, secondary materials, spent nuclear fuel) in nitric acid solutions, and also in technology of silver refining, the significant amounts of palladium and platinum passes into a solution. The ion-exchange concentration of palladium and platinum in nitric acid solutions (5-500/dm3) are investigated. More than 30 various classes of ionites are tested. The most chemically resistance resins at the given conditions are identified. It is shown, that the maximum sorptive capacity to studied metals at high acidity the complexing, synthetic and inorganic sorbents possess. To definition of platinum metals sorption optimum conditions the kinetics is studied, isotherms of a sorption at various parameters from nitrate solutions are obtained. The conditions of the platinum and a palladium desorption from the pregnant sorbents and its regeneration with the subsequent reuse of materials were defined. The raw materials containing precious metals have very diverse composition and physical properties. Commonly the materials are processed by hydrometallurgical way. If gold or PGMs there are in raw materials to its opening hydrochloric acid solutions are applied. As an oxidizer nitric acid, hydrogen peroxide, gaseous chlorine, etc are used. Nevertheless, at processing of argentiferous materials and preliminary treatment of a waste including the spent nuclear fuel, nitric acid solutions are often used and the specified metals in some extent pass into solution [1]. Therefore selective extraction of PGMs from nitrate solutions is an actual problem. In the present work the ion-exchange concentrations of palladium and platinum in nitric acid solutions (5-500 g/dm3) are investigated. At the testing more than 30 various classes of ionites the most chemically resistance resins at the given conditions are identified. These resins are synthesized on the base of polyacrylate, styrene-divinylbenzene and vinylpyridine. For a selection of the most effective resin among what are made in Russia and overseas, a number of ionites with various functional groups were studied. Influence of functional groups type on a PGM sorption is shown for extraction of a palladium as an example (table 1). The presented data shows, that palladium concentration in a phase of ionites depends on sorbent type. If the increasing of solution acidity essentially reduces palladium sorption by sulfonic cation-exchange resins (KU-2×8) than its sorption by strongly basic anionites is approximately equal. Intermediate position is occupied by complexing sorbents. The latter (AN-31, SN-3, ANKB-35, Lewatit TP 207, Purolite S 930) are the most effective for extraction of PGMs from nitrate solutions from the point of view of capacity value. According to [2], solution behavior of Pt (II) and Pd (II) are similar. As is known from coordination chemistry, ligand environment of the metal ions substantially impacts to character of electronic spectra. Dismantling and detachment of parts from e-scrap are essential and involve higher cost techniques in pretreatment processes for physical separation. New techniques are desired for effective recycling of minor rare metals, therefore, we are trying to develop new detachment processes such as a new break down process. The principal of this new process is an electrical disintegration by electric pulse. E-scrap is broken down by high voltage electric pulses in water. IC chips and LSI can be detached from printed circuit boards under proper conditions. Ta- capacitors are also broken down to plastic parts and Ta sinter with lead wire. This is very useful in terms of pretreatment for e-scrap recycling. Also in the case of metallurgical production, with its intrinsic potential of smelting, extraction, enrichment and separation methods, play an important role in the context of minor rare metals.
