Results of the study of chloride ion concentration effect to osmium-187 sorption from wastewater of copper smelter with use of foreign anionites of different basicity and structure are presented in the work. It was found that the increase of chloride ion concentration in the wastewater helps to increase recovery of osmium using anionites regardless of their nature. The ways to intensify the process are proposed. The method for osmium elution from the anionites with potassium iodate solution was developed. It was shown that the method lets to recover up to 99% of osmium from the anionites. Recommendations for selection of eluents for better recovery of osmium from the anionites were elaborated. The objective of the paper is to develop a material balance calculation procedure for a production unit involving two plants separated by a pipeline. The case study is taken from the oil sands industry. The raw sands are first mixed with water in a conditioning plant, then transported through a pipeline to an oil extraction plant. The combination of pipeline dimensions and nominal throughput creates a significant variable time lag between the two plants. As usual, mass balance calculations required for the evaluation of plant performance indicators, such as bitumen recovery, are inaccurate due to measurement errors. In addition, in the present case study, the time lag of the pipe creates an additional source of uncertainty, which may lead to misinterpretations and wrong decisions. Raw data are usually reconciled through steady-state mass balancing, to correct for measurement errors. However, because of the significant pipeline dynamic lag, standard steady-state daily mass balance may fail at giving an appropriate picture of the operations. The proposed solution to the data reconciliation problem includes the use of a pipeline plug-flow model in the mass balance calculation. To fulfil the industrial constraint that current data reconciliation must not modify past reconciled values, while still satisfying dynamic constraints, a daily one-step method, i.e. a unitary filter-ing horizon, is recommended. The method is illustrated with simulation data, and the results com-pared to those of standard data reconciliation methods.

Metso has a long history supplying boilers for high ash coal firing. These boilers are based on circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology. CFB?s biggest benefit is fuel flexibility ? it can burn fuels from high moisture content to high ash content. Metso has delivered tens of CFB boilers burning waste or high ash coal starting on 80?s. Some of the boilers have been in operation twenty years meaning that there is a long term experience from these plants available. This feedback includes boiler performance and maintenance issues of the boiler. Metso is also delivering coal washing plants to improve coal quality, i.e. reducing ash content of the coal. The idea to combine coal washing plant and CFB boiler was made up two years ago in Metso. Up-coming legislation of coal washing and restrictions for washery reject land-filling in India are good drivers for this kind of concept. Pre-study of this kind of concept led to the conclusion that coal washing process can be fine-tuned so that reject?s calorific value is only 1100 kcal/kg and that was set as a target for boiler design. Metso shipped 200 tons of washery reject to its own research center located in Tampere Finland. First a wide range of fuel characterization tests were done in lab-scale and after that one week test run in 4 MW CFB pilot boiler was done. Test run proved that 1100 kcal/kg can be fired without any support fuel with special boiler design. Test run results gave a good set of data regarding combustion efficiency, emission performance and boiler dynamic behaviour when burning this kind of fuel. These results are introduced in this paper. Process mineralogy focuses on the chemical components and mineral composition of ore, dissemination size of valuable minerals, the occurrence of valuable and detrimental elements as well as the behavior of each mineral in the process. Through determining process mineralogy parameters and analyzing the characteristics of minerals, the results of process mineralogy study can provide mineralogy data for making a reasonable mineral processing technology program and optimizing the process. A detailed process mineralogy study is carried out for a complex rare metal ore in this paper and the results show that niobium mainly exists in the form of ferrocolumbite as well as nioboaeschynite and zirconium primarily occurs as zircon. The valuable minerals including Th-nioboaeschynite, ferrocolumbite, zircon, etc. have the characteristics of fine dissemination size, wide size range, complex chemical composition and variable physical properties, which mean it is a refractory ore. According to the results of mineral composition of ore, chemical composition of minerals, dissemination size of minerals, magnetism ranges of minerals and the distribution of niobium and zirconium, the process of ?desliming-Nb-Zr bulk flotation? is designed for this ore and the niobium-zirconium bulk rough concentrate with the grade of Nb2O5 9.43%, ZrO2 24.95%, Ta2O5 0.36% and the recovery of Nb2O5 77.66%, ZrO2 76.70%, Ta2O5 75.13% to crude ore can be obtained in the whole process closed-circuit test.

The multi-gravity separator (MGS) is a novel piece of equipment for the separation of fine and ultra-fine minerals. However, the published literature does not demonstrate its use in the separation of Iron ore fines. Therefore, an attempt was made to study the effects of different process variables on the performance of an MGS for the beneficiation of Iron ore fines. The results obtained from this study revealed that among the parameters studied, drum rotation, amount of wash water and angle of inclination play dominating roles in controlling the yield and grade of the Iron ore. The majority of the newly developed Multi gravity concentrators have tremendous potentials for various applications. Therefore, the performance evaluation of these concentrators treating various minerals, coals, heavy metal recovery from tailing dams, etc., have become an active research topic. Several attempts have also been made to develop appropriate mathematical models of individual concentrators. Despite all these efforts, these concentrators have yet to find the widespread applications they deserve. The ?as received? sample assayed 40.80% Fe, 40.90% SiO2,0.24% Al2O3and 0.20 % LOI and all other trace elements within the specified range. The current paper deals with the Mineralogical studies, characterization and process amenability studies of Sub grade Iron ore from Deposit No. 5, Bacheli complex of Bailadila using Multi Gravity Separator (MGS).

The surficial collapse pits of the mining areas are continuously spreading in Beiminghe iron mine of Hebei Province as a result of the exploitation, which has done a lot of damage to the circumjacent ecological environment of the mine. It is a new path to handle the mine tailings at the present time that the thickened tailings are used to backfill the collapse pits, in which way the problems of the surficial collapse and the nowhere discharge of the tailings are both solved, and the rational utilization of the mine tailings and the clean production of the mine enterprise are realized. The?200 mesh content of the tailings of Beiminghe iron mine is 76.87%, and?325 mesh content is 63.50%. Semi-industrial dehydration experiments to the tailings have been done using the hydro-cyclone classified thickening process. The results show that when FX125 hydrocyclone is adopted, the concentration of underflow can achieve 73.31%, and the yield ratio is 61.78%; when FX150 hydrocyclone is adopted, the concentration of underflow is 70.57%, and the yield ratio is 54.31%, which indicate that the minor diameter hydrocyclone is propitious to improve the yield ratio of the underflow. The semi-industrial dehydration system of hydrocyclone classified thickening process is com-posed of FX125 hydrocyclone, D3600 high-efficient thickener and D2000 thickening bucket. The capacity to tailings disposal can achieve 3.07t/h and the tailings can be thickened from 28.86% to 62.45%. Compared with the traditional thickening-filtrating process and the total tailings directly filtrating process, the hydrocyclone classified thickening process has the merits of simple flow and high thickening efficiency, so it is easy to be realized in the mine.

Bioleaching of marmatite with various mixed cultures of microorganisms was investigated. The experiments were carried out in shaking flasks with iron-free nutrient and the pulp density of 10% wt/vol at the temperature of 30?. The results show that zinc is preferentially leached before iron. The leaching rate of zinc with the mixed culture of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans, Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans and Leptospirillum ferrooxidans is 62% in 18 days. The leaching rate of zinc with the mixed culture of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Acidithiobacillus thiooxidans is nearly the same as that with the mixed culture of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans and Leptospirillum ferrooxidans (45% versus 50%). SEM and EDX analysis of the leaching residues indicate that a solid product layer composed of iron sulfide, elemental sulfur and jarosite accumulates in the mineral surface and becomes a barrier to the dissolution of marmatite. The bioleaching of marmatite follows the shrinking core product layer model. When the product layer increases and becomes insoluble, the leaching rate is controlled by the diffusion through the product layer and slows down. When the product layer decreases or becomes a porous layer, the leaching rate is controlled by chemical reaction and enhanced dramatically.

Oxidised lead-bearing ores of one of the deposits of Russian Federation represent complex raw materials. Its main components are lead (3.2%~4.7%), silver (100~300 g/t) and zinc (0.7%~0.8%). The sample is characterized as oxidized ore. Silicium (37.4%) and iron (33.2%) are its main com-ponents and present in oxide form. Lead presents as cerussite, anglesite and plumbojarosite have a subject role. Zinc occurs as smithsonite. Certain part of zinc is associated with manganese minerals (psylomelane-pyrolusite). Close association of valuables with manganese-iron mineralization is ob-served. Silver is present in native finely dispersed form. Three options of flowsheets have been developed to recover valuables from the ore. 1. Hydrometallurgical flowsheet of lead and silver recovery on the basis of chloride leaching. 2. Flotation. 3. Flotation -flotation tailings cyanidation. Hydrometallurgical flowsheet of ore processing on the basis of chloride leaching (option I) al-lows to achieve recovery into saleable products of 68.8% Pb and 70.2% Ag. High quality lead concentrate with 71.7% lead and 700 g/t silver was obtained during flotation (option 2). Flotation tailings cyanidation (option 3) provides 24% silver additional recovery (from the ore). Technical and economical evaluation demonstrated that ore flotation (option 2) and flotation with subsequent flotation tailings cyanidation (option 3) are the most cost-efficient. Option II is the most cost-efficient variant of 1 tonne of ore processing (9.05 US dollars).

Cone crushers are used in the mineral, mining, and aggregate industry for fragmentation of rock materials. Control systems for cone crusher settings are widely used to compensate for wear and to protect the machines. The eccentric speed in a cone crusher affects the number of compressions the material is exposed to and thus the particle size distribution of the product. Eccentric speed also affects crusher capacity. However, the speed of the crusher is mostly fixed, because speed changes must be made by shifting pulleys, a process which is quite time-consuming. By applying a frequency converter, which has decreased in cost during recent years, it has become possible to adjust the speed continuously. By also applying mass-flow sensors to the process, the crusher can be run optimally to yield the most sellable products in a given moment. Existing systems normally only protect the machine. The sensors can be mass-flow meters, e.g., conveyor-belt scales. To analyze data from the process and calculate the appropriate value for the speed, an algorithm has been developed. The developed algorithm was tested and evolved at a crushing plant for aggregates that produces around 350 kton a year. The algorithm was implemented in a computer that could communicate with the frequency controller, retrieve data from four mass-flow meters, and also interact with the opera-tor. The computer was reachable over the Internet for the researchers at Chalmers and the algorithm was tuned and improved on-line. The result is a crushing stage that consistently and maximally produces the most desirable product. The performance (yield of required products) increased by 4%. As a bonus, the lifetime of the mantles increased 27% on the evaluated crusher.

"The effect of ethoxylation of long chain alcohols on the quartz and feldspar flotation behaviors was investigated for surfactants of the octylphenol polyoxyethylene family. The tests were carried out with an average of 7.5 (Triton X 114), 9.5 (Triton X 100), 30 (Triton X305), 40 (Triton X 405) and 70 (TritonX 705) oxyethylene units. Electrokinetic and flotation studies on quartz have shown that at low pH values, quartz could be floated with polyoxyethylene octytlphenols. The possible mode of adsorption of these nonionic surfactants may be suggested to be due to hydrogen bonding between the oxygen of ether and hydrogen in the free hydroxyl groups on quartz surface. It was anticipated that the selectivity between quartz and microcline would decrease as oxyethylenic chain length increases.Electrokinetic methods were used to elucidate the mechanism of surfactants adsorption and to correlate these findings with the optimum flotation conditions. The polymeric surfactants would reduce the negative values of zeta potential of quartz while the reverse is true for feldspar. After treatment of microcline with HCl, its electrokinetic behavior in the presence of Tritons X surfactants became similar to that of quartz.The obtained results would suggest that separation of quartz from feldspar using nonionic surfactants of octylphenoletoxylated alcohols having shorter oxyethylenic chain length at low pH could be achieved"

This paper describes the investigative studies carried out at Vale´s Center of Mineral Development (CDM) for a nickel sulfide deposit aiming to develop an adequate flotation flowsheet. The CDM facilities comprises of very well equipped laboratories to develop hydrometallurgical, comminution, flotation, physical separation processes, besides chemical and mineralogical laboratories, that are required to accomplish pre-feasibility studies, new process routes developments and, eventually, brownfield projects. Close association of the flotation group with the geometallurgy and the mineralogy teams play a key role during greenfield project development. Most of the information required by process engineers responsible for the flowsheet development can be provided by the mineralogy team and its mineralogical laboratory at CDM. During the flowsheet development of this nickel sulfide deposit, two ore types were identified as the most abundant in the deposit, named biotite-chlorite hydrothermalite (HID) and magnetite hydrothermalite (MAG HID). Six samples were selected for the investigative studies based on this initial information. Nickel grade varied from 0.39% to 1.95%. The main nickel-bearing minerals were millerite and pentlandite whereas the main non-sulphide gangue minerals were quartz, plagioclase, biotite, chlorite, actinolite, and/or magnetite. Electron microprobe (EMP) identified the presence of nickel in solid solution in gangue minerals such as biotite, chlorite, and actinolite. Nickel deportment in silicates varied from 3% to almost 40%. Magnesium was distributed in biotite and chlorite, except in sample MAG HID, in which talc was responsible for almost 50% of the Mg content. Liberation studies indicated that the optimum feed grind size was around 150µm and that pyrite occurred highly associated to the nickel sulfides. The flotation tests were planned based on the information provided by the mineralogical data. Rougher flotation tests indicated that the optimum P80 of the primary grind was 212µm for the HID type and 150µm for the MAG HID. From the reagents tested, amyl xanthate proved to be the most efficient in the recovery of the sulfides. In the MAG HID sample talc was well depressed by dosing 600g/t of CMC. Nickel recoveries in the rougher stage were lower than 90% due to the nickel distributed in silicates. However, sulfur recovery was around 95%, indicating high recovery of the total sulfides. Open circuit and locked cycle tests were conducted to evaluate the effect of the regrind size in the nickel grade and recovery (P80 of 44µm and 20µm). Nickel recovery decreased from 70% to 65% when finer regrind size was tested. Although nickel recovery decreased by 5%, the finer regrind size lead to a higher Ni grade (from 11% to 23%Ni) and lower fluorine grade (from 1138ppm to 700ppm) in the concentrate. Fly-ash was used as adsorbent to remove butyl xanthate from aqueous solution in this study. Adsorption kinetics investigation reveals that the adsorption process abides by the Lagergren-second-order Kinetic Model, and fine fly-ash prepared by grinding has a higher second-order adsorption rate as 1.25 g/mg?min and a higher saturated adsorption amount as 10.92mg/g. Four influencing factors as adsorption temperature, solution pH, consumption of fly-ash and adsorption time were investigated. Testing results indicate that butyl xanthate removal rates declines slightly with the temperature increase within the range of 15-50?, increases slightly when pH rises from 7.27 to 8.01 and then declines from 99.65% to 98.25% when pH rises from 8.01 to 11.10. An enhancement of removal rates can be observed by increasing the consumption of the adsorbing agent or prolonging the adsorption time. Thermal desorption was adopted to regenerate the used fly-ash, and test results show that fly-ash possess good regeneration performance and could be used as adsorbent repeatedly with little influence on the adsorption capacity.

In a small-scale mining in Brazil?s northeast, scheelite were exploited since 1940?s using a traditional gravity concentration flowchart (composed by jigs and shacking tables) that operates with low efficient for fine particles. Tailing of this plant was submitted to chemical, mineralogical and size characterization. Results pointed 50% smaller than 74µm with a grade of 0.11% WO3. The particle?s size is an important operational variable to heighten recuperation by shacking tables. Tests using Falcon SB40 centrifuge concentrators and shacking table were realized, optimizing their operational variables. Based on the tests results a new flowchart was proposed for concentrating and tailings recovery.

"For a copper-sulfur polymetallic mine in south China, the main valuable minerals were chalcopyrite, pyrite and pyrrhotite. The flotability of pyrrhotite was similar with chalcopyrite and pyrite and it was easy to be oxidized. As a result, the indexes of copper concentrate and sulfur concentrate were unsatisfactory. Furthermore, the recycling of tailings water ulteriorly deteriorated the technical indexes of copper-sulfur ore beneficiation. After a large amount of experimental studies, under the condition that the tailings water recycling rate was 100%, the copper concentrate with a grade of 22.25%Cu and a recovery of 82.46% on average was obtained for the raw ore containing 0.517%Cu, 15.94%S, 25.46%Fe on average, through using new technology “magnetic separation-flotation” and effective adjustment of parameters in the industrial test which was continuously conducted for 14 shifts in 5 days with a scale of about 75t/d. Comparing with the production indexes (the copper concentrate with a grade of 17.49%Cu, the recovery was 62.27%) during the corresponding period, the grade of copper concentrate increased 4.76%Cu, and the recovery increased 20 percentage points. Besides, the indexes of sulfur concentrate gained a considerable improvement. Currently, the new technology was adopted in the design of the new-built plant with a scale of 7000t/d of this mine. The new technology provided powerful support for the tailings water recycling and indexes improvement of copper-sulfur ore beneficiation.INTRODUCTION Chalcopyrite was usually associated with pyrite and pyrrhotite in copper-sulfur ore. Due to the similar flotability, it was difficult to obtain copper concentrate and sulfur concentrate with high grade. Furthermore, sulfide ore was easy to be oxidized and a large amount of ions formed in the pulp by the dissolution of minerals, which made the pulp become acidic. As a result, pyrite and pyrrhotite were easy to be activated in acidic solution and their flotabilities became stronger. Meanwhile, hydrophilic film formed on the surface of chalcopyrite in raw ore. The flotability of chalcopyrite became weaker and it made the separation of chalcopyrite from pyrite and pyrrhotite more difficult. So it was more difficult for copper and sulfur recovering with the recycling of tailings water containing high content of heavy metal ions and reagents."

"This paper presents an emerging High Voltage Pulse (HVP) technology for ore pre-treatment. Unlike previous studies where HVP was utilized as a crusher to pulverize ore particles to micron size ranges for downstream processing, the researchers at the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) use HVP to enhance ore processability. Application of relatively low levels of HVP energy to selectively break mineralized particles from barren rocks, followed by size-based screening separation enables the feed ore to be split into high grade and low grade products. During HVP treatment, cracks/micro-cracks are generated which results in pre-weakening of the treated ore particles, which ultimately results in energy savings in the downstream comminution processes. HVP treatment followed by conventional grinding also results in improved liberation of the valuable minerals in comparison to that achieved with traditional conventional comminution, subsequently improving downstream separation efficiencies. The three major improvements in ore processability through HVP pre-treatment have the potential to facilitate rejection of low grade ore prior to processing, increase production rates, reduce the energy required for comminution and improve flotation separation recoveries. This paper summarizes the major research outcomes of HVP pre-treatment demonstrated using ores from various mining operations conducted by the JKMRC. It also discusses the barriers that must be overcome before it can be adopted by industry with confidence in a continuous high tonnage rate application.INTRODUCTIONThe challenges of declining ore grades and increased plant throughput rates, resulting in higher energy consumption and operational costs, require the mining industry to adopt new technologies to make future ore treatment economically viable. Over the past 50 years, many researchers have engaged in investigating novel comminution techniques. Since Yutkin (1955) first demonstrated the potential to generate shock waves with pressures exceeding 103 MPa via electrical breakdown of water, several applications of electrohydraulic crushing by shock waves have been reported (Curley-Macauly, 1968). Interest in this technique was bolstered when Andres (1977) demonstrated that electrodynamic fragmentation results in superior liberation of mineral grains as compared with conventional grinding techniques. Despite mounting laboratory-scale evidence of the efficacy of electrodynamic fragmentation for mineral liberation, development of the technology for full-scale operation has stalled, primarily because the energy required to achieve desirable mineral liberation is approximately two to three times that of mechanical comminution, amounting to approximately 100 kWh/t for typical mineral ores (Andres et al., 2002)."

Mining activities belong to human history, they are lost in the mists of time. They usually impact on large portions of the territory, both directly (exploitation areas and logistic activities directly related to exploitation) and indirectly (exploited material handling, processing and storage areas). As a result, at the end of mine life cycle, dismissed areas usually cannot be directly re-utilized without efficient and well addressed rehabilitation actions. Main goal of the proposed approach was to analyze the results obtained when a set of procedures, based on the collection and the analysis of remote sensed data, is developed to evaluate the effect of rehabilitation of land contaminated by extractive industry activities and to perform a monitoring and registration of the environmental impact of such operations by the application and the integration of modern information technologies, as Earth Observation (EO) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The study was developed in the framework of the EU-Asia program of the European union (EXTRACT-IT Project-Contract No: CN/ASIA IT&C/006 (89870): Application of Information Technologies for the sustainable management of Extractive industry activities) and it was addressed to three different dismissed mine areas in India, Thailand and China, respectively. The results, in terms of methodologies selected, strategies applied and results obtained, are described with particular reference to Fuxin coal mine area in China.

The dynamic behaviors of the air bubbles in the dense gas-solid fluidized bed have a significant effect on the performance of dry coal separation. The combined method of experimental measurement and numerical simulation were conducted to conduct the research of the mean diameters and rising velocities of the bubbles in the fluidized bed. The calculation models of mean diameter and rising velocity of the single bubble were proposed. The results indicate that the models of the mean diameter raised by Rowe (1976) and the rising velocity raised in this work could be used to predict the bubble dynamic parameters in gas-solid fluidized bed. With the Geldart B type of magnetite powder as the medium solids and while the gas velocity of 1.5Umf=U=2.2Umf, the mean bubble diameter along the bed height is 36mm<Db<45mm, and the mean rising velocity of the single bubble is distributed in 40~65cm/s. The results of experimental measurement, numerical simulation and model predication provide well agreements finally. Based on the uniform fluctuations of air bubbles diameters and their rising velocities, the separation experiments of 50~6mm dry coal using the mixture of 0.3~0.15mm magnetite powder and <1mm fine coal as medium solids were carried out. The results show that the probable error, E is 0.06, which indicates a good separation performance by using the gas-solid fluidized bed. The molybdenum ores currently utilized in China are mostly molybdenum sulfide ores whereas oxidized molybdenum ores, being finely disseminated and difficult to process, have not been exploited and utilized effectively. In this article the beneficiation process of a molybdenum ore occurred in an oxidized ore zone was investigated in order to provide a new way for the development and utilization of the oxidized molybdenum ores in China. The molybdenum mineral in the ore was mainly wulfenite and the associated minerals included barite, limonite, quartz and small amount of cerusite. Limonite in the ore occurred in a crust and honeycomb-like colloidal state and composed the framework for the formation of the other minerals in the ore, which filled the pores in the framework. Wulfenite was mainly fine-grained and occurred in the fine porous crust and honeycomb-like framework. The finely disseminated ore structure made the separation and recovery of the molybdenum mineral in the ore very difficult. On the basis of the mineralogical study of the ore, experiments were conducted to compare the various mineral processing methods for the beneficiation of the ore, including single gravity concentration, single magnetic separation, single flotation, and a combination of high intensity magnetic separation and gravity concentration. The results indicated that with single gravity concentration a molybdenum concentrate containing 5.85 % Mo with a yield of 11.76 % and a Mo recovery of 43.5 % was produced. With single high intensity magnetic separation it was very hard to obtain a molybdenum concentrate product. With single flotation process a molybdenum concentrate containing 7.06 % Mo with a yield of 15.14 % and a Mo recovery of 62.63 % was produced. With a combination of high intensity magnetic separation and gravity concentration a molybdenum concentrate containing 6.46 % Mo with a yield of 11.81 % and a Mo recovery of 42.11 % was produced. In conclusion, compared to the other methods the flotation process can produce more reasonable technological and economical results and is the best process for the exploitation and utilization of the finely disseminated oxidized molybdenum ore.

This paper presents a brief overview of some IRGIREDMET advances in gold hydrometallurgy. Original impulse-percolation technology and equipment for intensive cyanidation of gravity concentrates have been developed and introduced into industrial practice by IRGIREDMET since 1980s (RF Patents N1593250). The process is based on leaching using special hydrodynamic and reagent conditions providing high dissolution rate for coarse gold particles. Gold and silver are precipitated from pregnant solution by cementation or electrowinning. There was also proposed an im-proved cementation method using zinc in a contact with electrically conductive material. The units including closed water recirculation, tails detoxification and semi-dry tails IRGIREDMET is well experienced in gold adsorption technology using ion exchange resins and activated carbons. The comparison of CIL and RIL processes were done for a number of gold mines, for example for Sukhoi Log gold deposit. The properties of prospective foreign and domestic ad-sorbents including strong-base, bi-functional and weak-base resins as well as activated carbons were studied. The Institute has developed some adsorption/elution technologies and equipment, such as a two stage RIP adsorption technology for gold/silver ores, an improved technology for gold elution from loaded resin and carbon, electrowinning cells for gold recovery from RIP and CIP eluates etc. Large scale ?Resin In Pulp? tests using weak-base resin were finalized and process design criteria were developed. Gold plant design is on progress at the moment. Improved technology for carbonaceous (preg-robbing) gold ores was developed. It was tested for some gold deposits including Sukhoi Log. It allows to overcome preg-robbing activities of ores treated and to improve dramatically performance of cyanidation and adsorption circuits. The studies on refractory gold ore treatment including bio-oxidation, pressure oxidation, roasting and ultra-fine grinding were conducted. Heap leach technology was tested and introduced by Irgiredmet for a number of Russian mines. Zinc cementation, activated carbon and ion-exchange resin adsorption were used for gold recovery from pregnant heap leach solutions. The options including combined technology ?Heap leach/ RIL or CIP? for clay ores were also developed and tested. The plant using developed technology is at construction stage now. The study on In-Situ gold leaching was conducted. The comparison of different gold lixiviants for this purpose was carried out. Gold recovery from pregnant leach solution by activated carbon and anionite including gold elution from loaded adsorbents etc. was also studied. In 2000 the In-Situ leaching technology was commissioned at Maminskoye gold deposit (Ural). The technologies for treatment of complex ores and by-products were proposed. For example, the technology of gold, silver, copper and zinc recovery from calcines after sulphuric acid production was developed.
