In several previous studies from this laboratory (1-4) the autophobicity concept of Zisman and co-workers (5, 6) has been extended to gas phase adsorption processes. Low molecular weight alcohols adsorb on silica or alumina to yield novel isotherms in that monolayer adsorption occurs at low relative pressures indicative of strong bonding, but subsequently multilayer adsorption is quite sparse and diminishes with molecular weight of the alcohol. Such isotherms fit no standard classification scheme, however, in the vacinity of monolayer coverage alcohol isotherms give an excellent fit to the Langmuir or B. E. T. , Type I model (7). Monolayer adsorption is relatively irreversible and it is thus possible to prepare these chemisorbed layers and perform subsequent adsorption studies thereon. All indications are that the adsorptive properties on such films is radically different from that on the underlying alumina (4, 8) and in one study finite contact angles for hydrocarbon fluids were observed. One perennial conceptual difficulty is that there is no observed upper bound to the adsorption isotherm which would be necessary for autophobic adsorption to occur. The cause for this has been studied, and it is currently believed that adsorption is complicated by reversible capillary condensation at contact points between powder particles. The evidence for this is that large particle powders give less "apparent" adsorption at high relative pressures and in one very tedious study adsorption on planar sheets, oxidized aluminum displayed similar reduced uptake at high relative pressures when compared with high specific surface area powders (3).

Lateritic gold has been the object of study only for a very few years, though nuggets have been mentioned in earlier works even as early as 1984 by Hartt in Brazil. In Mato Grosso State, lateritisation is intense, as is common in all tropical forest areas of the world. Exploration has revealed the presence of recoverable "nugget gold" of variable sizes (30 - 200 gms) but frequently of good size (0 - 40 gms), especially near Cuiaba and Alta Floresta regions. In both of them the host system is a lateritised breccia indicative of a fault or shear zone breccia, though in different lithological domains. The Cuiaba occurrences are phyllitic and show a profile as follows, from top to bottom: 1) Compact ferralite crust. 2) Oolitic to pisolitic compact crust (+ some gold). 3) Mottled concretionary laterite crust. 4) Lateritised "eluvial material" (gold nuggets). 5) Mottled patchy to banded laterite. 6) Banded lateritised phyllite with lenticular to banded goethite. 7) Altered red goethitic phyllite, with quartz veins (+ fine gold). 8) Unaltered grey phyllite with quartz veins (Protore). The Alta Floresta-Juruena River occurrences are volcano-sedimentary and show a profile as follows: 1) Deep brown siltitic, argillaceous and arenaceous material with organic matter (+ gold). 2) Modular and concretionary laterite, compact and indurated, with arsenophyrite in quartz fragments (gold nuggets). 3) Band with silty-clayey matrix and arenaceous in nature. 4) Bedrock meta-arcosian arenite. 5) Volcano-sedimentary with rhyodacites and andesitic basalts, with intercalations of arkosic and greywacke nature. Breccias and quartz veins, and granites associated in different portions (Protore).

Previous studies of the Thompson and Temperly ore bodies show alteration aureoles in the Middle Ordovician host-rock limestones, dolomites and shales extending laterally as much as 60m from the ore. Thickness, texture, carbonate and clay mineralogy, major-, minor-, and trace-element contents; and carbonate carbon and carbonate oxygen Isotope compositions of the host rocks all have been significantly altered by hydrothermal processes. Organic geochemical analyses of samples from the basal 8-cm-thick carbonaceous shale bed and immediately overlying limestone bed of the Quimbys Mill Member of the Platteville Formation, collected from within the ore, the alteration aureole, and the unaltered country rock show: 1) solution of carbonates and residual concentration of organic matter, 2) decreases in the volatile (Si) and pyrolytic (S2) hydrocarbon yields In samples of the basal shale from within the ore, 3) decreases in the relative amounts of the lower molecular weight (<nC25) saturated hydrocarbons in samples from the ore, and 4) no changes in either the organic carbon isotope composition or the Rock-Eval or biomarker thermal maturation Indicators. In light of the 125-170°C depositional temperatures documented for the early marmatitic sphalerltes in these deposits by fluid Inclusion studies, the lack of thermal alteration of the organic matter suggests a relatively short mineralization episode, a conclusion supported by the relatively simple sphalerite band stratigraphy. The decreases in the volatile and pyrolytic hydrocarbon yields for shale samples from the ore supports a model for mineral deposition which obtains sulfide through reaction of brine sulfate and indigenous organic matter.

This paper presents the results of an application of the PSU/USBM Open Pit Materials Handling Simulator (1) to a large stripping mine in the Southwestern Coalfield. The specific objective of the study was to demonstrate the application of the simulator to a complex multi-pit operation, with emphasis on simulating short term and long term production plans recommended for the mine by Theodore Barry Associates (2). Mine Description The mine is located in the Southwestern Coalfield, which encompasses parts of the states of Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. The lease area presently covers 121500 x 103 m2 (30000 acres) in a strip 37.007 x 103 m (23 miles) from north to south and up to 1609 m (1 mile) in width, located at an elevation above 1525 m (5000 ft). Three gently dipping coal seams are present, of which the upper seam (#3) averages 0-5.5 m (0-18 ft); the intermediate seam (#2) averages 0-1.2 m (0-4 ft); and the lower seam (#1) averages 0-2.4 m (0-8 ft). Overburden is mixed sand, gravel, calcareous clay, caliche and sandstone, with calcareous shale and sandstone burden between seams. Where the seams are covered by less than 6.1 m (20 ft) of overburden, they are generally weathered and oxidized and are not extracted. Stripping ratios have ranged from 3.5 to 6.0 with an average of 5.4. All future plans were based on a stripping ratio of 5.3.

Kennecott&apos;s Ray Mines Division (RMD) is located in central Arizona. The pit and silicate plants are located at Ray while the 27,500 tpd concentrating facilities are located at Hayden, approximately 20 miles away from the pit. Ore is delivered in 100 ton railroad cars, 60 cars per train via the Copper Basin Railroad. The side discharge cars are dumped into a 6,000 ton trackhopper. There are 6 Nico feeders, two per belt. Three 48" belts transport the -8" ore to three 7&apos; standard (secondary) Nordberg crushers. Each crusher is preceded by a 6&apos; x 12&apos; Tyler double deck screen. The secondary crushers are open circuit. The -1/21t material from the screens is transported directly to the fine ore bin at the mill. The discharge from the crushers and the intermediate product -2 1/411 x +1/2" is conveyed to a surge bin. The tertiary crusher feeder belts discharge onto five 61 x 161 Tyler double deck screens, each followed by a 7&apos; shorthead (tertiary) Nordberg crusher in closed circuit. The -1/2" product joins the -1/2" ore from the secondary crushers and both are conveyed along a 42", 4,230 foot long belt to the fine ore bin that feeds the grinding circuits. When hard ore is experienced at the concentrator the daily throughput decreases by up to 10%. This coupled with the fact that the ore is generally becoming harder with mine depth provided the incentive to improve the performance at the crushing plant.

In spite of the large annual expenditures and the vast field of activity covered, it cannot be said that many new grinding machines have actually come to light and modified the existing market for more than half a century. Manufacturers have mainly made advances in increasing machine sizes, efficiency and reliability, and in machine automation. The relatively recent emergence of roller presses is the only exception to this homogenisation of machine ranges. The development of roller presses in pregrinding has shown the advantages of compression grinding over the ball mill from the power consumption point of view. But classical roller presses still have maintenance problems due to the high grinding pressure. The FCB Research Centre has carried out much work in this field and in particular has studied the advantages of this process in pregrinding and integral grinding. These researches lead to the development of two new compression grinding machines. The first one, HOROMILL®, presented for the first time on the 8th European symposium on comminution at Stockholm, finds its application in the field of fine to very fine grinding in dry process. The second one, RHODAX®, presented at INTERMAT in Paris, covers the field of secondary and tertiary crushing and the first stage of grinding for most of the minerals in dry or wet process. Its high reduction factor permits to do with only one machine the work realised today with two or three crushing/milling stages. These two complementary machines offer a wide range of combination summarised on [Figure 1].

Uranium exploration in the Powder River Basin of northeastern Wyoming has been intensive since 1966 and in 1968 produced significant discoveries of reduced uranium ore by Humble Oil & Refining Company and others. Substantial reserves have been established in the area. High-grade carnotite ore was discovered in 1951 near Pumpkin Buttes in the central part of the basin (Fig. 1). Other mineralized areas were soon established from Pumpkin Buttes south to Monument Hill and Box Creek. Total production from these shallow oxidized deposits in the lower Eocene Wasatch formation was small. The AEC reports total production of 520,000 tons of ore averaging 0.19% U3O8. The authors are indebted to many people within Humble Oil & Refining Company and Esso Production Research Company for their assistance and guidance. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS The Highland ore deposit, discovered in 1968, is a large uranium occurrence located in the southern part of the Powder River Basin. Uranium mineralization consists of sooty, black uraninite and coffinite coating sand grains and is concentrated along the margins of Tertiary fluvial sandstones. Uranium was transported by oxidizing solutions roving through the buried sandstones and spreading into less permeable channel-edge sandstones to form typical rolls and tabular deposits. Unaltered sandstones are light gray to gray-buff where the sandstones have been oxidized, the colors are various shades of red, yellow, and yellowish brown. An Oligocene tuffaceous source for the uranium is proposed; however, leaching of the arkosic and tuffaceous host sediments may also have provided a source.

However, fifteen years ago, there was little reason to believe that any significant variation of these parameters had been overlooked. After a good year in 1979-strong mineral demand, adequate prices for most metals, minimal labor problems-1980 was not so good. The US produced $24.8 billion worth of nonfuel minerals last year, up 3.5% from 1979, according to preliminary US Bureau of Mines figures. But the $800 million increase was the smallest annual gain since 1977 and reflected reduced auto and construction industry demand, strikes, and energy shortages. Preliminary figures for 68 minerals show that production of 42 decreased, 25 increased, and one was unchanged. Production of 11 of 21 US-produced minerals was up. Noteworthy mineral events in 1980 included a copper industry strike, increased gold and silver prices, troubles in the iron ore and uranium industries, discussion about a US nonfuels mineral policy, and corporate interest in mining companies as merger targets. Recessionary conditions experienced by the Western world in 1980 resulted in a slowdown in new mine development, evident in the relative scarcity of major new base metal projects. This could lead to short term supply/demand anomalies within the next few years which, in turn, could have a significant effect on metal prices, according to Mining Magazine (Jan. 1981). World Mining (Sept. 1980) noted that US mining strength is in open pit operations. A much lower tonnage is mined underground and is centralized in trona, uranium, lead, zinc, molybdenum, potash and, to a lesser extent, copper. The most notable increase in new underground mines has been in Wyoming&apos;s trona district where new mines are being developed and production will increase, the magazine said.

INTRODUCTION Virtually every sector of society in our country feels the impact of tunnels, either through the transportation of water, commodities, or people. The economic implications are staggering. The Committee on Rapid Excavation (1) reported that during the near future, 1968-1975, underground excavation activity will comprise 946 miles of tunnels (subways: 85 miles; underground urban highways: 123 miles; intercity highway tunnels: 210 miles; water supply tunnels: 528 miles) and 5,119 million tons of crude ore; metals: 874 million tons; nonmetals: 899 million tons; and coal: 3,346 million tons. It is estimated that the cumulative demand for underground excavation in the decade 1970-1979 will be 13 billion dollars for construction-oriented demand and 16 billion dollars for mining-oriented demand. The respective figures for the decade 1980-1989 are estimated at 22 billion dollars and 18 billion dollars. Of the many advantages claimed for tunnels (2, 3, 4, 5) the environmental considerations are becoming increasingly important. Transportation tunnels particularly for rapid transit systems, offer reductions in noise pollution and air pollution while improving aesthetics and optimizing land use (fewer problems of right-of-way and disruption of utilities). Considerable interest has been shown recently in sub-surface construction and mining (6, 7, 8). Recognizing the future demands for tunnels has led to considerable study of methods to improve rates of tunnel advance per day, safety, and the overall economics. The results of an experimental and theoretical research study into the spatial and temporal behavior of dust in mine airways is summarized. Experiments were performed in mine airways under both controlled and normal operating conditions. The controlled experiments included the documentation of the concentration and deposition patterns for two types of dust under three different velocities. Real-time dust concentration data were obtained using real-time aero- sol monitors (RAM-I) to determine the dispersion coefficient in a mine airway. On the theoretical font, a convection diffusion model of the dust flow phenomenon in mine airways was developed considering dominant mechanisms affecting dust transport and deposition in mine airways. Mechanisms modeled include turbulent and gravitational deposition, coagulation, and dispersion. In this paper, comparative analyses of results (8 the controlled experiments with the predictions of the mathematical model are presented. In addition to the overall validity, the adequacy of the individual components of the model, such as deposition in the total and respirable range, and dispersion are examined in light of the experimental observations. The experimental data from controlled experiments compared more favorably with model predicted results for similar conditions as opposed to the comparative analysis results for in-mine experiments. Specifically, the model predictions for an 800-m stretch of a mine airway reveal some significant differences from the behavior noticed in the mine. The deposition was lower than that predicted by the model. Consequently, concentrations were higher than those predicted by the model. The implications of these and other findings for further investigations are discussed in the paper.

The Carlin Trend is North America&apos;s premier gold producing district. It is located in northeastern Nevada&apos;s Elko and Eureka Counties along a northwest trending belt about 65 km (40 miles) long and 8 km (5 miles) wide (Thorstad, 1989; Jones, 1989). This trend is the worldwide reference site for epithermal, sedimentary rock-hosted microscopic gold deposits. At least 19 deposits have been discovered to date, varying in size from 933 kg to 1.08 kt (30,000 to 35 million contained oz) of gold (Fig. 1). Newmont Gold Co. and its parent, Newmont Mining Corp., jointly constitute the largest mineral right holders in the district. They own or control more than 1000 km&apos;- (386 sq miles) in and around the Carlin Trend and own all or part of 16 out of the 19 mines and prospects identified to date. Since the initiation of Newmont&apos;s exploration activities in the Carlin Trend in 1961, 2.24 kt (72 million oz) of cumulative gold resources have been identified. Cumulative production from all mines since the start-up of Newmont&apos;s Carlin mine in 1965 to the end of 1989 was about 202 t (6.5 million oz) (Jones, 1989). The incentive of sustained high gold prices and innovation in processing technology resulted in a significant acceleration of gold output over the last few years. Newmont Gold alone produced more than 43.5 t (1.4 million oz) in 1989. That is equal to 22% of the cumulative 1965 to 1988 output, and an almost 200% increase over its 1986 output.

The title of this session is "Wall Street Looks at the Mining Industry," and I am going to attempt to answer the question: Shouldn&apos;t Mining Stocks Sell at Higher Price Levels? Or, What Does Wall Street See When Looking at the Mining Industry? Well, it sees a capital intensive business, a technical industry, and a growing industry becoming more vertically integrated. But, at the same time, Wall Street sees a cyclical industry, a fragmented industry of erratic earnings, spotty public relations, a feast-or-famine business where the public usually does not differentiate between coal mining or metal mining, and does not appreciate either the risks or the rewards. As a result, mining stocks generally sell at relatively low price learnings ratios in comparison to other industrial groups. This PIE ratio, the current market price of the capital stock divided by annual earnings per share, is probably the most popular index of a stock&apos;s value. The average of the price/ earnings ratios of the 30 stocks comprising the Dow Jones Industrial Average is over 14. This diverse group of stocks is widely regarded as being a cross-section and representative of the industrial companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange. However, in comparison to 14, Asarco and Kennecott shares are currently available for about 8 times annual earnings. Even discounting earnings from South America, the stock of these two companies sells at only 10 times earnings. Of course, Peruvian politics is currently preventing Cerro shares from selling above 6 times earnings, and Chilean politics keeps Anaconda shares at a PIE multiple of 7. However, even in better times, these companies rarely sell above 10 times earnings. American Metal Climax and Newmont sell at only 11 times earnings as does Phelps Dodge and St. Joseph Lead. 2.1 INTRODUCTION This chapter provides the reader with a sense of how a heap leach project may make an orderly, and hopefully non-traumatic, transition from discovery or acquisition to project construction. In making this transition a project can pass through several project development phases (i.e. ore definition and delineation, conceptual engineering, detailed engineering, and ultimately on to project construction and operation). "Go" or "no go" decisions may occur at any point in each of these phases. The transition from ore definition to detailed engineering should be accomplished via a well thought out program of interdisciplinary studies and an integrated, interdisciplinary project team. This chapter also describes, in general terms, a "roadmap" approach to the project evaluation process that must occur as project planning and development progress. It is the experience of the authors, as well as a myriad of companies who have been through the heap leach project development process, that a systematic approach will save many headaches, and many dollars. In fact, it is safe to say that a project with no formalized system of "objectives setting" and "milestone charting" may well flounder along the way, even if an economic ore body exists. Many papers and technical articles have been written about various aspects of mineral resource appraisal, economic evaluation, and mine development. Most of these invoke the same general philosophy of a systematic approach to project evaluation and development, although methods cited for attaining goals are quite variable. This is undoubtedly appropriate, given the fact that there is great variation in approach to project development (e.g., climatic considerations, ore body size and physical ore characteristics, permitting constraints, etc.). For the purposes of this chapter, two primary sources of information have been used to highlight the "road map" approach previously alluded to. These sources are cited throughout the text as Mackenzie (1980) and Snow and Michel s (1986). A brief summary of each of these sources is provided below: Brian GJ. "INTRODUCTION Contemporary city is made of layers. Physical structures layers (built fabric, residential, commercial industrial etc. ), infrastructural layers (below and above ground), “green” layers (parks and open spaces), and also informational layers, i.e. connections, links, between sectors of the city and other territories. The “city of layers” concept represents the exercise of “rebuilding the city” per each layer, highlighting those physical built structures that are functional to define a relation. For example, if consider the “connection” relation, the city is re-designed by considering only transportation built structures. The layer obtained in such fashion is hence the “transportation” layer, including below grade infrastructures (subways) and above grade lines (rail, bus, tramways etc.), as below shown in Figure 1.In this sense, the contemporary city is represented by separate constructs assembled together according to a specific functionality (e.g. “connection”). As a consequence, the relation between what is built underground, and the related above-ground development, can be perceived in his most evident appearance. What could happen within the contemporary city if the planning process would begin from below to above and not vice-versa?INTERACTION The question risen in the introduction is strategic when approaching the difficult task of designing (or re-designing) a multi-level organism like the contemporary city. Nowadays, the theme of integration between underground and at-grade master planning has become the subject of many urban renovation projects, where the design process has begun within the transportation layer, underground, and further developed by interacting with at-grade structures already existing or in phase of design.A series of case studies where below/above interaction plays a key role in the project will be further analyzed. Moreover, it is relevant to understand the mechanics of an urban transformation process that originates within the transportation layer and ends up with the design of entire sectors of the city. The Transit Oriented Development approach is a useful tool to clearly understand such transformation process. TOD has become, in particular in the last decade, one of the most effective tools for urban design, in order to solve simultaneously the many different instances related to transit planning, urban design and real estate market."

All of the major raw materials (silica, soda ash, limestone, and feldspar) needed to manufacture most grades of glass are found in Wyoming. Additional advantages for the manufacture of glass include the state&apos;s geographic location, a well-developed transportation network, a favorable tax structure (no corporate or personal-income tax), and low energy costs. Inadequate local markets and prohibitive transportation costs to other markets have been the major obstacles to developing a glass industry in Wyoming, the least- populated state in the nation. The Rocky Mountain region only recently became a major market for glass, especially for the Colorado Front Range and Utah&apos;s Wasatch Front. Currently, changing costs of the production of glass, an increased market for con- tainer glass in the Colorado Front Range, and innovative production and transportation ideas (e.g., production of selected types of glass and bulk shipments of specification-glass pellets) favor developing a glass plant in Wyoming. Thus, the Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) and other state agencies have been conducting studies and contacting investors in an effort to attract a glass-manufacturing plant to the state. Between 1987 and 1993, three locations of silica-sand and -rock deposits were studied in Wyoming (Cassa, Plumbago Creek, and John Blue). Funding was provided by the WSGS operating budget and local and state Department of Commerce economic- development grants. The reports on these areas were released between 1988 and 1993. In 1988-89, a California-based company conducted additional drilling and feasibility studies and prepared to construct a glass plant in Cheyenne, using the Cassa silica source. However, due to losses incurred by some of their other investments, the company did not proceed. In 1997, the Wyoming Science, Technology, and Energy Administration (STEA) contracted a market study for glass manufactured in Wyoming, using information provided by the WSGS. The STEA contacted several major glass producers, and a major glass-producing company began feasibility studies in January 1998, for the construction of a glass plant. In June 1998, bids to supply brown beer bottles to the Budweiser brewery northeast of Fort Collins, Colorado, were submitted by at least two companies that were considering glass-plant sites in Wyoming.

"1. INTRODUCTIONDo contractual practices affect project outcome? Can better contractual practices improve the likelihood of project success? The consensus amongst experts is that better contractual practices really do improve project outcomes. With this in mind the members of the International Tunnelling Association (ITA) Working Group 3 on Contractual Practices (WG3) pooled their collective knowledge to publish in 2011 the document entitled The ITA Contractual Framework Checklist for Subsurface Construction Contracts (ITA Working Group 3, 2011). Written for projects involving significant subsurface works, e.g. tunnels and caverns, the ITA Framework Checklist explains the major contractual issues that must be considered to ensure a successful project. Its goal is not to specify how each issue should be resolved, but rather to highlight the issues and give recommendations on how they should be addressed. The Checklist is compatible with, and provides guidance for reviewing, standard contracts such as FIDIC and NEC. One of the authors is a co-author of the Checklist and has contributed to previous papers describing the Checklist and its applicability to hydropower projects (Hodgkinson & Wilson 2014, Hodgkinson & Wilson 2015). Joy Mining Machinery has developed a new generation of ultra-heavy shields for Anglo Coal Australia?s Moranbah North Mine in the Bowen Basin region of Queensland. These are the largest two-leg longwall shields yet produced by Joy. The longwall at Moranbah North posed a number of challenges, among them a thick, inclined, sometimes undulating seam with increasing depths. The result of this was the need for larger, heavier, more powerful roof supports. Knowing that future longwalls would be going deeper, mine management determined that shield yield ratings of at least 1,750 t (1,930 st) was what would be required.

I found the article most interesting and timely. I consider it imperative that mine case studies like this one are undertaken and published so that the practicing mining engineer and geologist can obtain a better idea of what is the preferred estimation and grade control technique to use, given the site-specific geology, grade distribution, etc. Mining companies, with operating gold mines, need to be encouraged to either initiate such a study in-house or support a research project by financing a graduate student at a local university. The latter method is preferable since it not only provides research support but also an excellent training opportunity for young mining engineers and geologists. Ideally, what is needed is exploration drill-hole, blasthole, and mine production data that can then be used to assess the efficiency of different estimation and grade control methods by comparing the results obtained using the drill/blasthole data with the actual production data. It is hoped that more mining companies will realize that the rewards from this kind of research greatly outweigh the sometimes perceived problem with releasing data to a university. I noticed that the authors used the blasthole data to represent the actual values, the validity of which relies heavily on the two key assumptions with regards to blasthole assays and in-pit ore-waste selection procedures. Could the authors comment in more detail on these assumptions and what criteria they used to check the validity of the assumptions? Since the article was published, have the authors had the opportunity to compare their estimates with the actual production data? It would be interesting to compare other estimation methods with OK and IK. For example, how well did the polygonal method used at the mine compare with the results given in the paper? I would like to mention that B.L. Kwa completed a similar study (Kwa and Mousset-Jones, 1986) using exploration drill-hole, blasthole, and production data from the Alligator Ridge mine in Nevada. The study compared a variety of estimation methods, including IK, and the final results are shown in Fig. 1. The IK method exhibits the smallest difference between estimated and production results and is closely followed by the indicator moving window (Ind MW) method. Reply by Y.C. Kim We do concur with Professor Mousset-Jones with respect to the merit of such case studies performed at a local university. In answer to his request for comment on the validity of the two key assumptions made in our paper, we can only say that these are reasonable assumptions that are very difficult to validate. The assumption of blasthole assays being accurate can be partially validated by a careful analysis of the nugget component of blasthole variograms. The assumption that the in-pit ore-waste selection procedure in use was an effective one can only be validated through comparison between the mine estimates of ounces of gold versus the actual recovered ounces of gold at the mill. Neither one of these two assumptions has been validated to date due to several reasons. For example, the mine went through a change in management since the study. Similarly, no compelling reasons have been presented to perform detailed variogram analysis of the blasthole data. We do, however, believe that the obtained results (i.e., indicator kriging performs better than OK in a highly skewed deposit) will remain the same in relative terms, regardless of how valid these two assumptions may be. The most recent com¬parative study by D. S. Lindsey of the Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology also shows a similar ranking between ordinary kriging versus probability kriging, which is an extended version of indicator kriging.
